can I hear your thoughts on fma 2003, I don't hear too many ppl saying they've seen it anymore bc they just stick to brotherhood

Sure! I’m going to avoid spoilers just in case, but, in a nutshell: Did you watch Blue Exorcist? Because I think the ending sucked ass. There’s a point in the anime where it just starts sucking ass, and that point is precisely when they stop adapting the manga (it was not finished, still isn’t as far as I know). Well, this is not AT ALL what happens with Fullmetal Alchemist 03.

The pacing is better than Brotherhood IMO, especially in the beginning (probably intentional, I read somewhere that Brotherhood was made with the expectation that the viewer had already seen 03), and it goes in a direction that could have definitely, definitely been intended by the author (unlike Blue Exorcist).

To me, it’s the perfect alternate story. We have more story to play with and ponder about, and that’s just great.

It’s not a happy ending, more of a sad, hopeful one, and I honestly loved the twist on how homunculi were made/born (if you know you know) and the implications of it. It’s been a loooong while since I watched it and I Definitely need to watch it again. If you haven’t I definitely recommend it!

Okay, so I got a few ideas that could work for Ling & Sinfonia in particular and a bunch for Ling & Ed, so I'll share one idea for both of them. They're both AU btw. Like really AU.

Ling & Sinfonia's idea:

This is what I'm going to call the "hitman turned bodyguard AU". It takes place in a more "modern" setting and this is the basic premise in a nutshell:

Sinfonia is a hitman hired to kill Ling and when he finds out how old he actually is (he'd be fifteen for this one), he changes his mind and instead kidnaps him to get him out of the state/country. The only reason Ling stops putting up much of a fight is because Sinfonia goes all: "you can come with me and live or be killed by the people who hired me and they'll make it worse". The people who hired Sinfonia to kill Ling obviously find out that he didn't go through with the job and they start tracking them down to deal with it themselves. Cue a bounty being placed on Sinfonia's head along with extra money for getting Ling killed, other criminals getting involved, so on.

The reason I call this "hitman turned bodyguard" is because Sinfonia obviously breaks his hitman's code and is trying to keep Ling alive instead of killing him while all these other criminals and people are chasing them and trying to kill them. As for why these people originally wanted Ling dead, I'll leave that up to the imagination for now. Not even Ling knows or Sinfonia because he wasn't given a reason. He was just hired to kill him with little information on Ling as a person. Now they're trying to get out of the state/country alive.

Ling & Ed's idea:

This takes place in the same world as FMA but there's some big changes. Alchemists are still a thing but there are no Homunculi or things like that. Things are still kinda messed up in Amestris though. The main change is that Xing gets destroyed and burned to the ground with Ling as the only survivor as far as he knows. Not knowing may or may not come back to bite BECAUSE:

Ling erases himself from existence with the help of alchemy. When one erases themselves from existence, they're supposed to die shortly after. The longest anyone's survived after the ritual is a year before death. Ling survives for three years. Erasing yourself from existence is considered a crime (much like Human Transmutation), so he's been going about his life travelling from one place to the next, keeping to himself. People don't pay him much mind anyway because he doesn't exist, so the longest people really notice him is for a few minutes before he becomes nothing in their eyes.

This changes when he travels to Amestris and meets Ed on his way there. He tells Ed he erased himself from existence (but not the reason) and Ed decides to bring Ling into the military as a "volunteer" so he can have an easier time surviving and things develop from there.

There's even more to this idea but it gets kinda complicated, more than it already is, so I'll leave this here as the basics. Oh but I'll add that they lie to Mustang as to why Ed is bringing Ling in as a volunteer. Whoo-boy will that lead to future problems.

So there you go! Here are two random ideas for ya. I've had the "hitman turned bodyguard AU" in my head since like May of last year. Ling erasing himself from existence is a more recent idea.]

Naruto and H1n0t0's wedding chapter confirms SNS

Today in why Shippuden’s ending actually supports sns case, we’ll analyze the last sequence of the last chapter. (If you haven’t read the previous parts, you can find them here pt. 1&2, pt. 3, pt.4, although it’s not necessary to read them in order.) So, without further ado:

Pt 5. Naruto would rather be anywhere but here

As usual I leave my crappy clip from the scene then we’ll examine the expressions, body language of the characters and some of the editing. There’s very little dialogue but a lot to unpack.

The scene starts with Naruto and Hinata staring up at the Hokage Monument.

Who knows how long they’ve been at it, but Hinata is making the same face I make when I go to the museum and fail to understand why someone takes more than 5 minutes to appreciate a painting (excuse my uncultured ass). She then tells Neji’s ghost she is getting married (as if poor Neji cared) and turns to look at Naruto who is uncannily serious for someone who is about to marry the love of his life.

We get a close off of Minato’s face and Naruto’s profile, still serious. What is he thinking about? I very highly doubt he’s thinking about the honeymoon.

Then we get Hinata true to her stalker self, blushing, looking lovingly, dreamingly at Naruto, when Naruto doesn’t even know she’s there. She’s getting married to the man she loves (if you count that as love) so, acceptable, understandable expressions. And I want to emphasize how many expressions of Hinata they show us in contrast to Naruto’s during the whole sequence (3 is being generous).

One could argue that Naruto is looking back at her, but is he? Then why don’t they show us a broader shot of them staring at each other lovingly? Because that’s not the case. That’s their relationship in a nutshell: Hinata staring at Naruto incessantly while Naruto is barely aware of her presence. Furthermore, when Hanabi and Hiashi enter, making Naruto and Hinata turn around, Naruto first looks at Hinata as if asking “you were here the whole time?” then goes back to serious mode.

The following shots of the Hyuuga give us so much information. Hanabi is excited, smiling because she has no clue of the farce, while Hiashi is stern as he has always been, but he had changed after the Chuunin exams, didn’t he? Why does Hinata suddenly looks so worried? She was smiling a second ago? The transition of Hiashi’s expression reminds me of that meme where the father says “He looks gay to me, but whatever makes my princess happy.” So, with Hiashi’s blessing, Hinata smiles again. Once more, notice how many different expressions she has, when Naruto doesn’t even appear in the shot.

What follows is pure gold.

Is it just me or Naruto takes ages to return Hinata’s handhold?

Next, the first image of this batch is so hilarious to me. Hinata is looking down at their hands as if to confirm it is actually happening. Hanabi is more excited than anyone in the room even when it is Hinata and Naruto who are getting married. Naruto’s expression in images 1, 2 and 6 might have been as well copy pasted. Why? He is your main character, why are you hiding his face on every opportunity. Plus, number 4 is so bad. It looks like he is bracing for battle.

Naruto asks Hinata if she's ready, and off they go into a mediocre, loveless marriage for the sake of Konoha and Kishimoto’s, SJ and SP wallets. Look at Naruto’s half-assed smile.

This clip is 74 sec long and we only get to see Naruto’s face/head during 19 sec. That’s roughly a quarter of the whole sequence, and even when Naruto appears, we rarely get a close off of his face. Furthermore, when we do get a close off, there’s no range of emotion (watch Dragon Ball or FMA Brotherhood’s last chapter and compare Edward and Goku’s portrayal to that of Naruto). Why would the studio hide the main character like this? Why focus so much only in the love interest and not the couple? Because there is no happy ending for Naruto. He got trapped between duty, his promises and the expectations cast upon him, and the worst part is those who were supposed to look after him looked the other way.

You can read this post in which the author analyzes similar inconsistences across Gaiden and Boruto. The conjecture is pretty much the same: Naruto gave up Sasuke and married Hinata because that was what everyone told him, directly or indirectly, he was supposed to do.

None of these choices are accidental. We saw what the studio wanted to show us like we read what Kishimoto wanted us to read. Perhaps those last chapters weren’t as clumsy as we thought, but we were too hurt by the Last, Boruto and chapter 700 to notice the characters were responding accurately given the circumstances they were facing and the values of their world. And, people can say whatever about us sns being delusional, but Naruto didn’t get a happy ending (I won’t even talk about Sasuke because there’s no doubt that he got the short end of the stick). We know how happy Naruto is supposed to look like.

So, this is it. Even this wedding fiasco reinforces SNS and now it hurts a thousand times more. Thanks for reading my ramblings and sorry for the quality of the images and the video. I don’t have time to make better edits but I really wanted to share this. I’ll go back to the fanfic world where everything is right.

You know their “106 facts you should know” series? They did one on FMA that, in a nutshell:

Contained a lot of facts that were almost word-for-word identical to posts from @fma-facts, iirc a few were even verbatim exactly the same

Included some facts I had rarely, if ever, seen discussed online at that point in time outside of my blog

Used images from FMA Facts, as in, ones I had scanned from the manga myself using my own copies of the manga and my own home printer, and I can tell they’re the same images because the cropping, noise, and scanner distortion is exactly the same

Didn’t give credit for any of them. Not a SINGLE reference to my blog in the video nor the description 

And I know, I know, anyone can recount things from an anime, sure. If someone happens to make a trivia video about FMA that has stuff I have also mentioned, fine. If someone wants to use my blog as reference material, fine! After all, that’s what FMA Facts is for, informing people. And I would have been more than happy to help if they’d asked me!

But when I spend hours of my time meticulously digging through the whole ass franchise to pinpoint exact sources for everything and make sure I don’t get anything wrong, when I take the time and effort to drag my fucking copies of the manga down from my room and stand there wrestling with my shitty scanner and move them from the SD card to my computer and crop and clean and adjust them, when I take the time to write carefully-worded posts and make sure everything is easy to read, and I do it all for free, and some bitch ass corporation thinks they can come along and take post after post after post from my blog, change a word or two, and slap it on their monetized YouTube channel without a whisper of my name, without asking me, without giving any indication that anyone other than their writers contributed anything significant to the content of the video? Oh, and by the way, no, those bitch ass pieces of shit did not cite their sources. So unlike me, who goes out of my way to make sure it’s easy for anyone who has an ounce of doubt to go check my claims down to the exact chapter and episode, there’s absolutely nothing to prove to anyone that these motherfuckers didn’t just straight make shit up. It’s bad fucking journalism Brent!!

In a nutshell, Vic Mignogna is a known creep who has a tendency to behave inappropriately towards his young female fans, often to the point of making people who used to really like him suddenly feel very uncomfortable with him after interacting with him in person. This has been common knowledge among pretty much anyone who’s into anime dubs or frequents anime conventions for over a decade now.

With the recent theatrical release of the English dub of DBZ’s Broly movie (Broly being a character he voices), Vic was sort of brought back into the spotlight, and his unacceptable behavior along with it. People began sharing anecdotal accounts, photographic and video evidence, and calling for him to be essentially excommunicated from the anime community, via the Twitter hashtag #KickVic (which also spread to other social media sites as well). As the whole thing gained traction, this seems to have culminated in him being terminated from both Funimation and RoosterTeeth (RoosterTeeth being the company behind RWBY, in which he voiced... some guy whose name I forgot? Crow? Candle? Blaze? Alistair? Something along those lines? Idk, I have no idea. But yeah.)

Now, I’ve seen a lot of arguments against this, which frankly I strongly disagree with. It also doesn’t help that every YouTube video on the subject is titled something like “SJW BULLIES ARE RUINING ANIME WITH CONSPIRACIES AGAINST INNOCENT VIC MIGNOGNA #ANIMEGATE” or something absurd like that. The main arguments I see are:

1. “The whole thing is a smear campaign started by people who dislike his voice” - As I said, this is nothing new. People have known, and talked about, his creepy behavior for over a decade, and a lot of the allegations come from former members of his fanclub who were very shocked and hurt by their unexpected bad experiences. (I personally first remember hearing about it on DeviantArt sometime around 2013, and if any of you recall the culture of DeviantArt in 2013- especially in regards to sexual assault- you’ll know just how much that says about him.) Hell, this isn’t even the first time people have called for action against him; Some of you may recall when Free! Iwatobi Swim Club first started getting dubbed, there was a petition going around to recast whatshisname shark teeth guy instead of letting Vic play him. Like don’t get me wrong, I absolutely agree that allegations online should always be taken with a grain of salt and with the proper context, and I don’t doubt that some of the “evidence” posted on Twitter is extremely sketchy, and that there probably are at least a few people out there that hate his voice enough to make up lies to get him fired. But it’s definitely not a sudden smear campaign popping up out of the blue, it’s just the continuation of what people have been saying for a long, long time. The only thing that makes it different this time is that with the current political climate (e.g. the rise of the Me Too movement), people are finally starting to listen.

2. “He’s just very physically affectionate” - No. First of all, even if you are someone who’s very physically affectionate, there’s a time and a place for it. Knowing how to behave when interacting with fans is incredibly important for celebrities. His “affection” tends to make people very uncomfortable, and he’s had more than enough time to learn to not do that. Not to mention that it’s not just a matter of touching- he’s said creepy things as well.

3. “They asked him to do it” - Ok, and? Why does that make it ok? He’s the adult here, not them. If a minor asks him to do or say something inappropriate, it is his job to shut that down. The responsibility to interact in an appropriate manner with minors is on the adults, not the kids, and he should know that and take control of the situation. Saying or doing something sexually inappropriate to a teenager because they ask you to is like doing 90 mph on a residential street because your 5-year-old thinks driving fast is fun. It should never be a matter of “they asked for it, so it’s fine”.

And that’s that on the Vickelodeon Malaria situation. I’ve pretty much tried to keep quiet about it on this blog, keep my personal biases out of things and all that, but I think there comes a point when it’s not even a matter of opinion anymore and things need to be laid out. This is FMA Facts, and it’s a fact that adults have a responsibility to not be creepy towards kids no matter what the situation, and it’s a fact that Vic Mignogna consistently fails to fulfill this responsibility.

im hardly active myself anymore lol

its been so long since ive had to think about how rwby couldve gone that i can barely remember how idve plotted the whole thing out and gosh can i ramble on forever about all the tiny details and things i would absolutely approach rwby with from start to finish

but in a nutshell-

edit: ive been here writing everything out for a good solid hour now and realize that i’m completely rambling now with how complicated this show is development wise from start to now and all the tiny things id take into consideration with fixing it

in a nutshell in its truest form tho, i just dont like anything about rwby anymore past the middle of volume 3- the only thing they've gotten better at is animation/their work with maya/a tiny bit better at writing with the occasional goof up

with what I wanted from this show,  its things that this show cant offer anymore I think/isnt in the place to offer anymore- i wanted so much from it/it had all the makings of what couldve been in 1st 2 volumes, but it just aint the kinda show i thought itd be

i dont want this weird dark trip thats weirdly paced and just slaps you with stuff expecting you to care- theres no solidity or feeling of progression and i just dont like it or care to

again, i can ramble on forever- but i think its best kept to specific questions for ease what with how weird and janky rwby is

Are you planning on continuing your Klance demigod AU? I completely understand if you just lost motivation for it or something, but it was honestly one of my favorite fics and I looooove PJO so this mix of VLD and PJO made me so happy! I love your writing and I understand your decision either way, but I just thought I would ask. Thanks!

I’ve gotten a lot of asks like this, and I think I’ve touched on my reasoning. I felt like I should answer anyway because not everyone has seen that stuff, but I’m putting it under a cut for those of you who are interested.

I’m really glad you and so many others liked it, that AU was and still is one of my most popular works. And I’m extremely proud of it, because it started with my headcanons of what godly parent they’d each have, and then I started brainstorming a plot, and it quickly became something very elaborate that involved nods to both PJO and VLD canon and,,, yeah.

I want to continue it. I feel like a lot of the effort that I put into it is a waste if I don’t. And it’s not like I don’t know where to go with it, I have a complete outline of the second work and some ideas for the third, because it was (is?) supposed to be a trilogy. I really enjoyed writing it, and I know a lot of others really enjoyed reading it. So I do want to continue it, and I’m hoping that eventually, I’ll do so. I mean, at this point I’m a second semester senior in high school and my grades have been good so far. I’ve been accepted to colleges already! It’s a wild ride, and I already have a lot more free time.

That’s part of the issue, since when (if?) I start it up again I want to be able to do weekly updates again. But the main thing is ever since season seven, I haven’t really been inspired to write for VLD, period. I’ve been working on a lot of other stuff and only posting some of it, so you can probably expect to see a lot fics for other shows in the future (I recently started a FMA AU series of one-shots that I am VERY excited about). I love the characters in VLD, and I want to continue where I left off, but I just can’t really get myself in the zone to. I don’t like talking about discourse, and usually I’m pretty neutral about everything.

But no matter what, season seven was a major insult to the LGBTQ+ community. A community which I’m a part of. I was so excited to see that the show had a gay character, because representation in fiction is one of the main reasons which made me feel like I could come out to my family at all. And then when Adam died, I legitimately started sobbing. Because as many of you know, VLD was my favorite show. I was so excited to see the representation in it, and instead it perpetuated a very harmful trope. And in my opinion, there’s no excuse for it. I don’t want to get into discourse here, that’s not what I’m about, but that’s why.

So I’ve been pretty upset with VLD, and trying to take a break from it, writing-wise. I mean, I didn’t even watch season eight yet, and I honestly don’t know if I’m going to. But I looked at the spoilers and that just made me even MORE upset. For obvious reasons. I know that’s not what you guys want to hear, and honestly I might get back to it sooner than I think, because I have a LOT of WIPs. And I know this whole spiel is probably not what you were looking to get in response, anon, and I’m sorry about that.

But yeah. In a nutshell, I want to continue it, but VLD as a show really kind of sucks and it’s hard to motivate myself to write for it but. We’ll see what happens, I guess. After all, there’s a part of me that just wants to write for it even more now because the actual canon,,, flopped.

One Piece is a fucking brilliant piece of literature change my mind

I’m only at the post-war part of the anime, and he’s done many clever things I love it. personal favorite so far is where he takes the classic trope of “woman who is more of a symbol than a woman that gets a whole bunch of men to fight for her because it’s a metaphor” (eg: Helen of Troy, Lucy Manette, Cosette), and make it a depressed suicidal dude who is literally the progeny of the worst man in history and somehow it’s super uplifting with a whole bunch of political and social commentary wrapped up into one. And like what is Ace’s screen time in the entire series up until the war? like maybe 2 hours TOPS out of 300+ episodes and somehow every time he appears on screen i fucking cry? Like dude don’t even talk to me about that entire subtle commentary about political machinations and the press and like the only children’s/YA fiction that did a better job than one piece in addressing propaganda was The Hunger Games (the movie, not the book) and The Hunger Games movie was fucking brilliant.

Lastly, One Piece is a tall tale that delights in extremes - the good, the bad, the beauty and the ugliness of humanity. We don’t see that kind of art and storytelling among popular shonen stories often, if at all. Furthermore, Eiichiro Oda managed to embrace all the extremes and absolutes of tall tales and use it to tell nuanced stories of friendship and morality and political propaganda. FMA may be my favorite manga, but I think One Piece may have just topped as the best manga of all time ^_^

RWBY Remarks: As silly as this might sound on paper, Aaron Dismuke needs to reward himself with the very character he plays in RWBY for that amazing performance he gave in Episode 3. HOLY COW!

What’s up guys! It’s your gyal, LittleMissSquiggles here with another RWBY Episode Review. Not only is today RWBY Tuesday but it’s also October 31st and as a RWBY fan, you all know what that means. No I’m not talking just about Halloween, I’m talking about today being the show’s very own Ruby Rose’s birthday. So happy birthday to Miss Rose.

But as much as today is her special day, I’m not here to talk about Ruby. Not when EPISODE 3 just dropped! WHOOT! WHOOT!

So Episode 3 of RWBY Volume 5; did I enjoy it? OF COURSE I did. So much so that I’ve shamelessly watched it at least three times or more. I mostly watched it for that infamous scene with Team RNJR, Qrow and Oscar.

Firstly, can you just give a round of applause to Aaron Dismuke for his fantastic voice work as Ozpin-Oscar or OZcar as the fandom has sort of dubbed him. Thanks to all the folks who answered me when I asked about how the CRWBY handled Oscar transitioning into Ozpin.

I’m really pleased that they went with Aaron continuing to voice him even though it was a different character and as I’ve mentioned before, he did a commendable job. Although admittedly I did find the whole Shannon/Ozpin voice layered with Aaron’s Ozpin-Oscar voice a bit jarring and unnecessary at times. While it did help to truly sell the disconnection and instability of Ozpin’s curse (y’know talking from a body that isn’t entirely yours which is an amazing effect), I couldn’t help but think there were times when they could’ve just allowed Aaron to carry on talking as Ozpin cause he was already doing a perfect job. That being said, I only had this problem during the ONE moment when Ozpin-Oscar straight up Power Ranger style backflips onto the couch to announce that he was going to train Team RJNR.

The line where he said ‘...Well I believe I was the Headmaster of Beacon’ practically breathing confidence, like I dunno...I felt like we didn’t need the effect then. It didn’t distract me nor was it bad, I just felt like it wasn’t needed there, y’know. I guess you could say I really like hearing Aaron talk as Ozpin so I basically ended up frowning upon any point in his lines that took me out of my full enjoyment of performance, y’know what I mean? Cause as I say again, I REALLY LOVED OSCAR TALKING AS OZPIN! IT WAS SO COOL!

But then again I wonder if it would have had the same impact as it did without the voice layer effect; even with the background music. Not sure.

But overall, I was floored by Aaron’s performance this episode. While I’m not sure if story plans on prolonging the training episode; saving it for Episode 5, I’d love it if they continued the focus being on Team RNJR and Oscar/Ozpin in Mistrel. Even if they plan on saving the training montage til like half way through the season, it would be good to get some episode moments where the members of Team RNJR get to interact with Oscar, just as Oscar as he’s settling down to stay with them. It’d be cute if we got a moment where they show him to his room. The Volume poster did tease Oscar having a close friendship with Qrow.

Not sure whether that was an indication of it being canon in the series or a nice clever nod of nostalgia for those of us ole school FMA fans who know both Oscar and Qrow’s Vas are the original Elric Brothers so seeing them together and having that close brotherly bond again in another series would be a beautiful touch.

Not to mention, Qrow being a big brother to Oscar would be the sweetest thing ever. Things were a bit awkward between them in Episode 1 after Qrow got drunk and Oscar was forced to bring him home but...once he sobered up, things became light. I quite liked the moment where Qrow pulled the reigns in on Team RJNR badgering a very uncomfortable-looking Oscar and to see him smile gratefully at Qrow with a genuine thanks was quite sweet.

 I especially liked the bit where Ozpin announces that he’ll be training the team. As if we didn’t need further confirmation of how much of a badass Ozpin is. Plus this will truly be the first time in the series where we actually get to see Ozpin mentor the students. Yes he was the headmaster but when have we ever seen him really teach if it didn’t meant launching his students into the wilderness and forcing them to fend off the Grimm while searching for chess pieces. I laughed when Oscar’s all like “...Wait...WHAT!” when Ozpin is explaining that not even he will be exempted from his vigorous training regiment. So not only am I excited to see Ozpin train Team RNJR but also Oscar’s own training as well. However I’m curious as to how that’s gonna work though. Is Ozpin gonna teach RNJR the entire time but switchs controls back and forth between himself and Oscar so that he can mentor but Oscar would be included in the training process? Or will it be a thing where Ozpin takes full control of Oscar’s body to train Team RNJR but it will actually be Qrow who will be handling Oscar’s own training (another jab at the possibility of the two developing a strong big brother-little brother bond) with maaaaaaybe some assistance from Ruby. She could be his sparring partner---a worthy opponent (and a healthy distraction).

 I know there is a lot more stuff to cover with this episode; particularly that infamous RosePine/RoseGarden moment that I heard about even before this episode premiered. I’m actually going to save that talk for another musing post to be honest. There is always much for me to talk about regarding RoseGarden and I think having its own post with ties back to this episode will be a good thing. Plus, there are some things I’ve been itching to say about this ship...well...more things than I’ve already said previously.

But yeah, in a nutshell, I really enjoyed Episode 3. How could I not? The whole Ozpin-Oscar scene was flawless and easily my favourite part of this entire episode. Y’know how I love my smol bean farmhand avocado ‘Little Cute Boy Ozpin’ godchild. (I love how even the series itself acknowledges Oscar’s inevitable adorkableness. Thanks for that meta moment CRWBY) 

I know this week’s review was more talk regarding the Mistrel moments however I also enjoyed it for the Weiss moment too. Speaking of which, great introduction to the Spring Maiden character or the potential Spring Maiden candidate. I didn’t really catch her name from the episode. I think the bandit guy said her name was Vernal or something like that. They did hint at that strongly in the intro. Either she is the long lost Spring maiden or just someone who’s gonna have a really antagonistic opposing relationship with Cinder Fall once she gets to the Branwen Tribe.

Either way, I like her overall design and from the brief scene she was in, she’s definitely gearing up to be an intriguing new character this volume. That’s nice.

Well we all know that Weiss is definitely going to make her grand escape next time the season cuts back to her story.  Since Winter’s no longer in Mistrel, where is Weiss going to go? The whole objective of her journey was to rendezvous with with her sister in Mistrel. Does this mean that she’ll spend her part of the volume searching for her sister or...will she still decide to journey to Mistrel; ignoring what the bandits said and heading in that direction to make sure for herself (after all, it’s the only lead she has). That way, even if Weiss doesn’t meet up with Winter in Mistrel, she’ll still end up reuniting with Ruby, Jaune, Nora and Ren. That’s a plus no matter where you chose to look, actually.

I think Weiss might chose the latter and continue her search to find her sister in Mistrel. But there is still one question that remains unanswered for me. What happened to Atlas pilot guy? Did he survive the crash too and is also being held captive by the Branwen Tribe of bandits? I really hope so because, if Weiss is going to be travelling on her own towards...wherever she believes her sister to be, she’ll probably need a companion. And while I know he was only meant to be a side character, there’s that inkling part of me that really wants him to be alive so that he can, if possible be promoted to a supporting character for Weiss.

I wanna know his name! I wanna see his face, dammit! I didn’t expect to like Atlas pilot guy so much and now that I do, I don’t want him to be gone so quickly. Oh! Oh! Y’know what! Maybe it can be a thing where, after Weiss escapes, she discovers that the bandits are keeping Atlas pilot guy in another camp and she actually puts her journey to find Winter on hold in order to go rescue him. It’ll be a nice parallel back to how she wanted to help those other cargo ships from the Lancers but pilot guy was all like ‘...nah leave em to someone else to save.’

Weiss seems to have grown into the kind of huntress who is willing to step up to help others even if it means deviating from a goal she had originally set out. Maybe we can have her go to risk her life to save Atlas pilot guy; choosing to not leave him behind despite only knowing him shortly.

I honestly liked their dynamic. I liked how friendly he was to Weiss and I genuinely enjoyed their exchange of conversations together. REALLY want him to stick around in the show and stay with Weiss.

Speaking of which, I don’t think Yang is going to meet up with Weiss. I think Shady guy is either gonna double cross Yang leading to her having to battle her way past him (like maybe he was kicked out of the tribe and is leading Yang on) or even if he does lead Yang straight to the Branwen Tribe’s main camp, there is a possibility that by the time she arrives, Weiss would’ve already escaped.

So if Weiss does escape before Yang arrives, I’m hoping the CRWBY made her escape just to go back to rescue Atlas pilot guy (who fans would learn actually has a name) and the two end up becoming travel buddies. 

This is probably an unpopular opinion with RWBY fans but, I actually don’t want any members of Team RWBY to meet up; at least not yet. I’ve been thoroughly enjoying each of the four girls’ separate stories and development; particularly when it crosses with other characters whose roles were otherwise secondary or even tertiary in past volumes (For e.g. in the case of Sun Wukong and the remaining members of Team JNPR).

That being said, I don’t want Weiss to meet up with Yang. Up until this point, she’s been having her own journey so...let her continue to do that. And if she is to have a travel companion upon her grand escape from being sold back to her father by the Branwen Tribe (not like that is gonna be possible. Didn’t Weiss’ lil shithead of a younger brother say that her presence as the Schee family heir isn’t necessary anymore since he’s taken her place); let it be Atlas pilot guy.

I really cannot stress enough, how much I want him to be alive and be another friend and ally to the team. But I guess we’ll see how things go.

So those are my thoughts on Episode 3. Another great episode. I’m really enjoying the way things are shaping up this season. Seriously the more I watch Volume 5, the more I see it becoming one of my favourite seasons for sure. Look out for more of my musings coming out this week.
