i spend so much time on the wiki pages of various marvel characters for research and like the more i read the more it confirms to me that i do not have what it takes to be a comics fan. Which i realize is an insane thing to say for someone who has been reblogging nothing but spideytorch for the last month.
#for anyone that wasn't aware btw spideytorch started as a secondhand hyperfixation for me#because a friend asked me to help them come up with fic ideas#and then i ended up getting invested#though i've always been a fan of spider-man in a nebulous sort of way in that i've seen a lot of the movies#i've also read a couple issues of the amazing spider man comics#but i'm not like#a proper comics fan#and mainly my issues stem from an inherent disconnect with the medium due to its long running nature#requiring the stakes to be constantly upped to the point of ridiculousness#and then the constant changing of writers leading to inconsistencies in characterization#and the fact that the characters are never allowed to just be happy#like bro i just don't have what it takes you know?#anyways if you ever ask me what canon my aus or prompts take place in#the answer is: my own special timeline cobbled together from the bits and pieces i've picked up and adopted through#reading fics and wiki pages#anyways thank you for coming to my ted talk
