Well, I just ordered my case, which means that I've officially started my PC build. As for the other components, I'm going to wait until September because of financial reasons and because the Ryzen 9000X3D CPUs are releasing in September.

And yes, I'll exclusively be running Linux on it. Most likely Pop!_OS

I hope the protoframes remain relevant even after this story arc for the Drifter concludes, but I also recognize how complicated things would get with how many characters they could keep trying to make stay relevant, leading to a Konoha 13 Naruto type situation where we have too many relevant characters from Umbra & Ordis all the way to Kaya Velasco.

Ive heard of systems developing at later childhood ages due to autism, developmental disorders, developmental delays, trauma impacting the child at later ages due to still having an incohesive self due to developmental delays, etc. I dont have a source tho bc im in the car omw to a doctor appt

Also, they can only form from trauma so the additional disorders wouldn't be relevant except in the way that being autistic in today's society is inherently traumatic.

Today is frigid and windy, she feels it unforgivingly on her cheeks. Clouds part around her, clinging to her jagged features. They are wet and stifling, a brushing reminder of what she cannot have. It is the only thing claimed from the earth she can touch.

She passes above skylines and craggy mountains and watches. The earth is still cold and unyielding and she yearns for it in a reckless way. A silly wish to feel all that it has to offer in her mouth. She wants to touch, to feel the grainy sands between her fingers and find sand in horrible unbefitting places. The encapsulating experience of teetering the fine line of tasting the sun and burning herself. She wants to be down there.  

She’s heard many names weaved in between her. There are many she’s been called but one that has truly stuck with her, Ava. 

A soft sound pressed between lips, a gentle thing for a large entity like her. She likes to believe that’s who she was before this, a force too big to contain that she had to become this. A mangled thing of roots and chunks of dirt. 

It’s better this way, someone tells her in a foggy haze, she’s fighting them, a sloppy sluggish battle of desperation. Ava doesn’t know why but the memory lingers like a prolonged goodbye. A sort of awkward suspension holding her rooted to the spot like there’s more to it, a truth sitting in plain sight.

hi again! wow, um. first of all thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to answer that, wow. i really appreciate that. also, really sorry about.. uh, pretty much everything that's happened to you ahah. feels like i should acknowledge that somehow, hope you're doing ok.

anyways! for the record, i did ask because DID is something i brought up with my therapist recently and she recommended finding some resources about it online to look at until my next appointment (since we only meet once a month right now ahah.) we've talked about other possibilities (like bpd and a pstd thing or something) before that, but i haven't been screened for anything. i've been looking at that kind of stuff, i just thought it would be helpful to ask someone who also experienced that stuff directly!

im sorry if anything in that ask or this one is worded weird, been having a bit of a day lol.

Of course! I don't really have too many feelings tied to the bad stuff that happened? But it's definitely something that takes a lot of evaluation! Alters always have a "why" when it comes to our formations, and you're doing fantastic looking into this! I'd also recommend watching youtube videos from diagnosed systems! I watch a few DID friendly psychyatrists on there, too, who don't take as aggressive of a stance on people who suspect they have DID. You're doing amazing!!

I’m salty about Heimerdinger

As SOON as the machine is ready— it turns out that not everything is plugged in and Heimerdinger has to manually plug the cords to get Ekko back to his world. Only for him to die in an act of self-sacrifice?

You’re telling me, the yordle scientist— with hundreds of years of experience with lab safety and constantly talks about thorough preparation in experiments— forgot to connect two cables before the hextech machine was running? It doesn’t add up to me.

There was absolutely no need for Heimerdinger to be so urgent about leaving only to NOT have the machine ready before activating it.

It read more as though Heimerdinger would help Ekko get back, but he’d be left to fix the chaos because the yordle was most definitely not joining him. Because Heimerdinger has lived through many apocalypses in his years and doesn’t want to live through another one. He didn’t want to go back, face the music and address the mess in their original universe.

Heimerdinger is a coward, killing himself through an unnecessary self-sacrifice to avoid addressing rising conflicts in his original universe

catholicism is so strange sometimes. i don’t judge anyone for following it or believing in it, to each their own. personally, i don’t think any one religion is true or better or anything, i view it all as a coping mechanism. to me religious beliefs are nothing more than something that brings people comfort and helps them cope healthily (hopefully) with all the bad shit in the world.

that being said- the rules are ridiculous sometimes? so technically, under canon law, i would be automatically excommunicated (having been baptized roman catholic) as a heretic because i believe in something other than god and the bible. however, because i was not aware that my alternative beliefs were grounds for excommunication, i technically wouldn’t be?

so my question is- if i am now aware that believing in something else (and not believing in god in the slightest) is heretical and “punishable” by latae sententiae, and continue my beliefs, does that mean i’m excommunicated now? because I am clearly intending to, despite knowing the risk/punishment, continue down a path of “mortal sin”

Every base is base 10

how do you write 2 in binary? 10

how do you write 5 in base 5? 10

how do you write 64 in base 64? you guessed it, 10

We should've named bases after the highest digit used in the system, not the number of digits used in the system

Base 2 should be Base 1, because it goes up to 1 and it's silly to not have a base 1 anyway

Base 5 should be Base 4 because it goes up to 4 before starting over at 0

Of course, this does mean that base 10 will have to be renamed to base 9, but I think that everyone will be okay with that when I explain how much more sense the other bases make this way

one super interesting thing i keep running into while gathering references of historical clothing from across the world is while you would imagine that those clothes are super different across cultures, you kinda end up running into super similar elements the world over. like, ive looked at historical dress of north africa, western europe, eastern europe, and to a lesser degree various parts of asia and africa (i do tend to mostly take inspiration from the mediterranean and the slavic - i also dont tend to pick from native american stuff too much as it is kind of the exception where i see a lot less overlap and it feels a lot more dicey to lift from those sources when the inspiration would become a lot more obvious and come w implications of coding and appropriation i dont feel equipped to tackle) and kept seeing things reappear. layered skirts and aprons, short vests over blouses, jewelry over the chest in layers of metal circles, hair coverings... in a way it makes total sense, people come up w the same thing everywhere bc people have the same bodies to accomodate everywhere so it just makes sense, but its also rly rly fun to be like "this traditional russian costume has so much in common w traditional north african costumes" yknow? it also rly helps to define general trends across geography and history when designing fictional traditional clothing bc i can mix and match the elements i like most and still end up w something that looks real and tangible. thats what i did for ajdig (that one comic i made for my grandma) - the original refs for the character designs came from all over the world but i think when you look at them you feel like these are the real clothes of a people
