Donnie just ended a stream, and was going over the stats for said stream, when his phone set off the group chat notification sound, it was April. She was asking if she could come to the studio to ask about something, specifically with Donnie. She was given the go ahead, and Donnie asked his drone children to help straighten things up.

April showed up a few minutes later. She greeted the drones who went back to playing their games. They're seated in the inflatable chairs that are just always left on the set.

"So April, what can I help you with in our studio today?" Donnie asks while leaning back with a slight squeak.

April lets out a annoyed sigh, "Okay, so even with my stellar resume and Degrees, those jerks at the News wouldn't even give me an Internship! They said they didn't take degrees of my level without a recommendation from 1 or more these 5 random sounding tabloid-y magazines!" She was slowly raising her voice as she talks, while griping something imaginary probably the neck of the person who told her she couldn't work for them.

Donnie just quirks an eyebrow, but doesn't question it. She did also have a long list of being fired for the most random reasons.

"So, what kinda of help do you want? Blackmail on the staff, hacking the channel, draining the guys investments? I can go on." Donnie lists off with a slightly sinister smile.

"As tempting as that is, no." April shakes her head in amusement, she's sure he's just listing this to make her laugh, maybe. "No, I wanted to see if you had anything you can have me do with your companies. Like maybe as a 'Manager' or something?"

Donnie thinks it over for a second, "Well if we made you a manager, it would just be just a title, you wouldn't really be doing anything, plus you want to go into journalism, and acting as a manager won't look that great on your, probably highly edited, resume." He pauses to look over something on his tablet. "I have two possible options for you, one is media management for Genius Built, and Four Turtles Production, it's basically putting together the news we want to release to the public about them, along with helping with event stuff, and two basically option 1, but you do it as a Newscaster in videos that we will upload onto our social media sites. If you want you could use a model to mask your identity, if you don't want to be called the 'PR Girl'."

April looks a bit confused, before thinking it over for a few seconds, "So I either, just edit posts and videos that will be put on the GB and FTP socials, or I do it in mainly a video format like I'm reporting the news, maybe with one of your custom models?"

"Yes, either way it's up to you. These are just the options that I believe would look better for your resume, if you ever want to look for another job." Donnie stats, he hands April the tablet, "Here will be your benefits, though remember that all medical problems will lead you to Leon, therapy to Angelo, you get a personal trainer with Rafa, and I become your financial advisor."

April looks it over the benefits, and figures that agreeing to work for Donnie will be better than one of the other jerks that she could possibly work for. "Alright, let's see how this works out. Better than trying to find work around top side anyway. Do the Dragons get the same benefits?"

"Why, of course! They were a bit weirded out by needed to go to Leon for medical, and got freaked out at Angelo, but not Rafa. I don't know why." He looks like he's contemplating this, but he probably knows why.

"So, you already have a model for me right?"

"About 20 at least, we didn't want to assume which one you want so we made a variety you can choose from, and we can make changes from there!"

"Can I help with Cass and CJs models, or are they already done?"

I don't think I will actually write posts from April, but after watching a Vtuber news reporter, I couldn't stop thinking "this is how they drag April into what is becoming the family business!" and it fits kinda.

Also writing April was a bit weird, but then again writing any of these guys is weird.

Just Around the Corner...

I've been waiting to say this for a very, very long time:

1.1.12 is almost here.

...Kinda. It's nearly ready for playtesting. I've got one last feature to smooth over and then it'll go out to the testers for feedback. Once the testers are happy with it (and I'm happy with what the testers are happy with), then we'll test multiplayer for a bit - and then it's time for full release.

It's been a looooooong time since NSSS last got a major update - September of 2021, to be exact. Sure, there have been tweaks and patches since then, but even then it's been over a year since 1.1.11_111-1. NSSS has been at version 1.1.11 for three years now - about half as long as NSSS has existed, period.

I'd like to think of 1.1.12 as the beginning of a return to form - wayyy back when NSSS first started, Vulpovile and I were releasing updates once every two weeks. I doubt I can maintain that pace, but at the very least I can avoid any more multi-year update droughts.

I've already got ideas lined up for 1.1.13, 1.1.14, 1.1.15, etc... - many of which I've been daydreaming about for years! I really want to finally sit down and work on these ideas, and make them reality once and for all.

There's a couple other things I'm hoping to polish up. First off - the website. I put it up a few months ago but it's been sitting semi-finished for a while now. The other day I finally dug up my FTP login credentials to actually upload the NSSS multimc instance and server jar there so I could fix the broken download links in the original forum post. Sorry for letting them sit broken for so long - I was very busy with IRL work. I'm going to be fleshing the website out a bit more soon - maybe I'll even get the in-browser applet working!

The launcher is also getting renewed attention. I figured out Oauth a while ago (so you can actually log in to microsoft accounts with it - yippee!) but was struggling to deal with https connections in older versions of Java. I think I've figured out a solution that's workable, so the launcher should finally be ready soon - here's hoping!

Lastly, the forums. Yes, there are official NSSS forums - but the URL has been somewhat hidden for a while now. I've been having trouble getting the phpBB theming to look the way I like it - if anyone has any experience with phpBB themes, please reach out! The increasing futility of trying to present information on discord has made it clear to me that it's for the best if most NSSS-related discussion were to happen on an actual public-facing website rather than a glorified IRC chatroom. The discord will still exist - but it will no longer be forced to do the triple-duty of "information repository", "public forum", and "community chat".

Let's see how much of this I can get done before 2030...

One Goal for the year complete.

Race day at Gravesend circuit, I left home at 8 am for a 2 hour 30 minute drive, not before Drew my son gave me the power from his legs by a dragon ball cartoon technique. I got there in plenty of time, so I got myself ready slowly, listening to relaxing music so as to raise my stress levels to high (this really does seem to be working). My levels have been pretty good over the last few days and remained that way for the race morning.

I have ridden the course a lot in the past, so I know it pretty well. It is quite a technical course with a couple of hairpin turns and 90-degree turns that you can lose a lot of time in if you dont know them and the lines to take.

It was a small field with only 12 racers in the CAT 4 race which is disappointing to be honest as there are far fewer races lately so you would think there would be far more people taking up the oppurtunity to race. Anyway, a small field makes the racing a lot harder as it is impossible to hide in the wheels and take less wind and save energy. The race started pretty fast, and as I said, because the field was so small, it meant that because of some gaps in ability, gaps were forming so I had to work hard to get round people and close the gaps. With 15 mins gone, my positioning was poor, and 3 were getting away on the front. Again, I had to go around people to try and chase on to the group getting away.

One other guy came with me, but because one of the guys in front was his teammate, he would not work with me to close the gap which I get but as I had no team mates in the front it would have benefitted them to have 2 up there. I got really close but just couldn't get on. I held the gap for a while, but eventually, the gap started to go out, so I had a chat with Dave, the rider with me to ask him to work with me so that we stayed away from the riders behind us. I think by this point, I had already created a big gap but was starting to get tired and nervous that I would blow completely.

I needed to finish a minimum of 6th to get my upgrade to CAT 3 and it turned out that Dave needed to finish 4th to get his upgrade to CAT 3 so we did a deal that if he worked with me I would let him have the 4th place. Deal done, we worked well together for a while, but my levels were starting to go up, and my energy was going fast, Dave started to take on more of the work which I am eternily grateful for.

We now had a massive gap, almost a full lap on the guys behind us, and could see that we were catching one of the 3 that was up front, we tired to put a bit more effort in but both of us were pretty cooked so just couldn't get there. So there it is not quite how I wanted to do it, as I wanted to win, but the goal is achieved and that is the main thing.

I was speaking with Dave, the guy I was with in the race, and he said that he had asked his teammate whether he would have minded if he had worked with me to get on to the front group and he said that he wanted us to catch them so he had a teammate up there with him. For me, that would have been the ideal situation as I could have sat on a bit more. Never mind, it is what it is, I learnt plenty from that race about being in the right position when it matters.

Looking at my numbers for this race, they are ok but not great, so some work to be done, I am trying to decide whether to close the session and now really work on losing the weight as I still have so much work to do. I currently weigh 85kg and want to be around 72-75kg for next year, and with a lot more power, I think my FTP is around 300 watts at the moment, I know there is more to come.

I can now see what my levels were like during racing and training, which is hopefully giving me some insight into how my levels react at different levels of effort, or though it seems that no day is ever the same and during racing they go up faster.

So I have to do some thinking about what I want to do for the rest of the year. There are a few races that I can do, but I could just concentrate on getting myself in the best shape for next season as I have some big goals to go for and some races that I want another crack at in better shape like the Essex Roads one that I fell apart in.

Dream big, keep trying, never give up, and always believe you can achieve, and we go again.

Here’s a little rant I made up about the DW a community last night, enjoy.

Grggrr I hate how the Dandy’s world fandom has a superiority complex over eachother For no reason aswell, because there’s a lot of problems in the community weather it be freaky art or the devs doing something bad the community will always find a way to bitch about it Just this week I saw multiple, AND I MEAN MULTIPLE videos of DW players ranting about some off topic shit, tonight I saw a Shelly main rant how bad the game is, how repetitive the gameplay is, the updates are too overrated, despite the game CLEARLY still being in its Alpha release. Obviously because of that the game isn’t going to be very good nor finished, since it’s not in its full release. “How a certain toon is ment for this certain role because of their stats!” When this is a game all about experimenting with all the different stats the game gives you, and yea obviously some of them aren’t going to have great stats compared to other ones but that’s the entire fucking experience of the game. Yea that’s reasonable if your team mate has bad trinkets and stuff but if it’s on a public run you know for a fact isn’t going to last long, then I don’t see the point in getting angry at them. Especially since most players aren’t addicts to the game, some of them could just be FTP’s or enjoy it casually, not every run has to be some world record breaking experience. And do I have to remind you that not everyone is a professional? Even if they are were all on different levels of management with our own toons, we all have different experiences and standards with this and that. And if they’re comfortable with playing as this, then please don’t get angry at them for not playing at that.

“Oh well the community is bad too-!” The only reason the community is bad is because their the problems, everyone gets angry all the time, players are forcing other players (especially beginners) to follow these imaginary rules that the game doesn’t implement onto their players more that you, as a player yourself, do.

“Oh but Quel has crazy waiting limits in her server, so it’s hard to interact with the community!” The only reason she has thoes in the first place is to stop the 481,470 members from spamming like crazy or starting a heated argument to happen in main chats, not to mention this helps them from the other possible thousands of fans not in her server, from being weird with her community. And don’t start bitching how they’re not professional enough, as stated in their Discord server they are a small team working on a Roblox game for FREE. Besides game passes and limited time merchandise they do all their moderating, developing, updating, and more for free, on their own time for crying out loud.

“Well, what about the freaky people outside of her server?” They are none of Quel’s business nor concern, we all know if some non legally threatening pile of children mascots come into contact with the internet people are going to exploit them in any way they possibly can.
