I wanted to see what else he had done before Dragon Quest, and this popped up among other things. Seems like he’s had quite a career in TV and Film before he took on video games. This score certainly has what I might say a classic Koichi Sugiyama sound, with some late 70’s flair thrown in. Triumphant moving pieces let us know the heroes are doing their thing, sparse and uncertain passages create tension, frenetic ‘boss battle’ style movements to get the listener pumped up! — What’s on your turntable today?
