so, after watching the 2019 bot concert, here are my thoughts in no particular order:

- shohei is addicted to doing flips in the same way kaisei is allergic to wearing shirts

- brand new story has the power to make me cry and im still crying wtf i cant stop help-

- they all have beautiful smiles, absolutely gorgeous

- i like watching bbz do literally anything, these seven dudes can just sit in silence and watch paint dry and i’ll be cheering them on

- THEY SHOULD GIVE MANDY THE MIC MORE, LET THE MAN RAP MORE HE’S GREAT AT IT

- i keep forgetting how tall ryota is

- i wasn’t expecting psyfe to show up, ren’s beatbox performance was good look at him go

- the high notes… chills dude

- i miss masa’s long hair :( also him vibing with the shogos is one of my favourite moments

I made a Tailor's Ham! It's essentially a sort of hard pillow used for ironing against. It's especially useful for ironing curves and 3D construction (eg: stuff it into things like sleeves or hats).

I used the free pattern by Cornelius Quiring, and took the suggestion of zigzagging my wool together instead of sewing darts.

For the top fabric, I wanted wool. This mustard yellow coat fabric was the only 100% wool I could find at Fabricland that day. It was in the clearance area, originally $50 /m. The smallest increment the shop sells is 20 cm, which was sufficient for this pattern. With extra sale pricing and my membership discount, I paid about $5 for the 20 x 150 cm piece (they cut me a generous "20 cm", closer to 30 cm actually).

Upon closer examination, this fabric was knitted before the felting, and there was still some noticeable stretch. To reduce the stretch, I put the wool in the washer with hot water, then tumbled dry on low heat until it was bout 80-90% dry; then ironed the fabric flat and let the steam finish evaporating.

For the bottom, I used a remnant of heavy cotton canvas. I've heard that it's best to use unwashed cotton so that the ham will shrink up and pull even tighter with the heat of an iron, but this is what I had.

I applied lightweight woven cotton fusible to the entire wool piece to add stability and structure. Following Quiring's advice again, I reinforced the underside of the not-darts (the zigzag) with scraps of the cotton canvas.

(In a future make, I might try using heavyweight fusible at the not-darts, instead of fusing all over and reinforcing with canvas.)

I had difficulty sewing the not-darts, largely because of how stiff the fabric had become. I'm not sure if this just comes with practice or if I did something wrong, but after shaping the not-darts, I couldn't get the top and bottom pieces to fit together nicely. I had to really fight and pull the fabrics to line up, and in the end I opted for an imperfect ham rather than continue puncturing the fabric with my heavy needle.

For stuffing, I've learned that sawdust or wood shavings (like pet bed litter) are ideal. I didn't have any, but I had lots of fabric scraps! However, the unevenness of fabric scraps make for a lumpy ham, which interferes with a smooth ironing surface. Taking stock of what I had, I came up with a plan to stuff the ham in layers:

First, I added kapok fibre (a fluffy plant fibre, kinda similar to cotton; I already had lots of this for stuffing amigurumis), making sure there was a thick layer all around. Kapok fibre won't melt, and I think the fluffy texture would help smooth irregularities caused by the fabric scraps.

I picked through my smallest fabric scraps to remove as much synthetic fabric as possible (the high heat of an iron might melt the polyesters and nylons), then used my LDH shears to cut into as fine of ribbons as I was arsed to. I mixed these fabric scraps with dryer lint (which definitely contained synthetic fibres!) and began stuffing. I hoped the dryer lint would help smooth the texture of the fabric scraps.

Stuffing this ham tight was hard work, so I enlisted the aid of my partner. Much innuendo and amusement ensued.

Once I was satisfied with how packed it was, I hand-sewed the seam shut with a ladder stitch.

The ham is all puckered and lumpy, especially at the hand-sewn closure, but I kinda love it.

I kinda want to name him Hammy, or possibly Bentley.

It's so ugly and I love it! 💖💖

This has got to be one of the most useful things I've ever sewn. It felt like a "specialty" tool at first, but it really isn't, I use it all the time now that I have it! Ironing shoulder seams, sleeves, hats, and bags--! It's really great.

Although Hammy/Bentley will last a long time I think, I'm also kinda looking forward to making another ham. My local hardware store said I can come take their sawdust for free when the machine's full--just to phone ahead to ask how full it is.

Louisiana Surgeon General Ralph Abraham sent a directive to state health workers Thursday ending long-standing mass vaccination clinics and banning staff from promoting seasonal vaccines, while publicly issuing a letter that criticizes the state’s COVID response and public health institutions.

In his internal directive, Abraham said employees should not recommend vaccines, but could provide data about inoculations and suggest that Louisiana residents to talk to health professionals. Look-Alikes of LDH JAPAN

Lately I've been noticing that several members of the new generation groups of LDH JAPAN resemble their seniors, so much so that they could be mistaken as twins! Here are all the ones who caught my attention until now.

The last one will be a surprise!

1. Kaede and Masuda Kurea

Kaede is a former member of Happiness and E-girls, currently active as a member of f5ve (formerly known as SG5). Kurea is a member of Girls², magical² and belonged to KIZZY and Bunnies (E-girls pyramid) as an EXPG student.

E-girls × Girls² combination, yes! And the resemblance is uncanny!!

My favorite LDH twins by far. 🩷 Kurea really is like a younger version of Kaede.

2. Sato Taiki and Yamada Kodai

Taiki is a member of EXILE and FANTASTICS. Kodai is from LIL LEAGUE.

Personally speaking, I rarely ever find them to be similar, if at all. But a lot of people say they look like twins.

3. WEESA and Nanba Sora

WEESA is one of the vocalists of PSYCHIC FEVER. Sora is a member of LIL LEAGUE.

Predecessor and successor of EXILE TRIBE's youngest member. They're also the youngest in their respective collective groups, Jr.EXILE and NEO EXILE.

It was only recently that I noticed their similarities when they collaborated in a video a short while ago.

4. Sunada Masahiro and Nakamura Aoi

Masahiro is one of the vocalists of BALLISTIK BOYZ. Aoi is a performer and rapper from THE JET BOY BANGERZ. He's also a part of the dance crew SEPTENI RAPTURES which competes in D.League.

Honestly, they're twinning harder than even actual (fraternal) twins!!

They're both the youngest members in their respective groups, and look older than their actual ages.

5. Kano Yoshiyuki and Ishikawa Kota

Another same groups combination. Except Kota is a vocalist, not a member of any other dance unit.

One pair isn't enough, so we got double twins for BALLISTIK BOYZ × THE JET BOY BANGERZ!!

If corporate needed me to find differences between these two, I'd say they're one and the same!!

6. Hidaka Ryuta and Kawaguchi Soma

Ryuta is a vocalist of BALLISTIK BOYZ. Soma is a rapper and performer of KID PHENOMENON.

One more BALLISTIK BOYZ member. But this time rather than having similar faces, they share similar hairstyles and postures.

7. RYOJI and Sato Shunnosuke

RYOJI is simultaneously a member of WOLF HOWL HARMONY and DEEP SQUAD. Shunnosuke belongs to KID PHENOMENON as a rapper and performer.

The only NEO EXILE twins in the bunch.

ØMI (Tosaka Hiroomi 登坂広臣) - Purple Pill feat. SKY-HI

The song had been in production for 4-5 years, but Omi felt that it was incomplete if it was performed solo and shelved it. Omi and Sky-hi had been talking of collaboration for some time. Omi felt that Sky-hi could complete the song and thought that it was a good time take it out when they decided to collaborate.

Purple Pill is about facing the current reality and chasing dreams with the theme of "representing Japan". Both of them are 37yo and from the same generation of artists, with similar career paths and interests. In Japan idols who sell themselves as a product =/= artists, artists sing, dance and rap at professional level and often focus on their specialty. They are both singer-songwriters and belong to top-level non-idol boy groups, with Omi being Sandaime J Soul Brothers' vocalist and Sky-hi being AAA's rapper, and they are now interested in producing next-generation artists (the chasing dreams part in the song). Omi focuses on girl groups and is the creative officer of LDH (his boy group belongs to this company) and president of his own record label and entertainment company CDL Entertainment. Sky-hi focuses on boy groups and is the president of his own management company BMSG. They often talk about how they want to change the status quo of Japan's entertainment industry and music world - Japan is very insular in entertainment and gatekeeps heavily (the current reality mentioned in the song). Omi has done things like producing songs that use a instrumental chorus i.e not singing the chorus, which is very uncommon in Japan, as well as mixing genres and aligning closer to future bass and future house contrary to more mainstream jpop sounds and the rest of LDH.

This is also Omi's solo comeback since 2022 and the beginning of a new project called The Fusion. New instagram and tiktok accounts have been created.
