logging off from @staff
Last year, after 10 wonderful, chaotic, meme-orable (sorry) years on @staff, I logged off from my role as tumblr's head of @entertainment (but I'll never log off of main!). Last week, we released our 50th and final (for now!) episode of @dashboarddiaries. I truly can't believe how quickly the time went.
It was an immense privilege to spend so many years collaborating with the countless coworkers, partners, and community members who make this hellsite (affectionate) a hellhome(site).
Tumblr was much more than a job. I grew up on tumblr, and I grew up at tumblr.
Sitting in my college dorm in 2012, making a collage of outfit inspo photos on a Word document (as one does), who knew that my perplexed roommate @neshat asking, “uh, have you heard of tumblr?” would change the course of my life.
Two years and tens of thousands of reblogs later, I somehow landed an internship on the content & community team and – after sharing thousands of officially sanctioned shitposts, working on hundreds of campaigns, and making dozens of new friends (and getting a couple of concussions (unrelated to work)) – I can confidently say that joining tumblr was one of the best decisions that I've ever made (and that this is perhaps the longest sentence that I've ever written).
Summing up the past years in a post feels impossible, but here’s a little scroll down meme-ory (too much?) lane.
Note: this is not how I got one of the concussions
For the full experience, please listen to the below while you scroll.
Obligatory @david seflie from 2014.

Launching @mishacollins' tumblr with a @gish scavenger hunt during a Supernatural convention... and breaking tumblr.

Bringing community questions everywhere from to @nasa astronauts on the International Space Station, to @televisionacad nominees at the Emmys with Answer Time.

Witnessing Kellan Lutz and Jackson Rathbone unintentionally reenact the @twilight fan art I made in high school sculpture class.

Ricky Whittle attempting to teach me how to dance.

Sweating so much during the @primevideo Saltburn interview that Emerald Fennell compared me to a glazed donut.

Discussing my talent for concussions with @rejectedjokes.

Developing Tumblr Top 5 with the incredible team at @wearewatcher, and resurrecting Coppy in the process.

Having a wee tumblr tea party with the cast of @netflix's Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.
And so so much more, so I've also queued up some posts and reblogs from over the years. Here's a song to accompany that experience.
More to come very soon, and in the meantime you can find me haunting a dashboard near you.
I love you all, I had a ball(pit), and I’ll see you on the internet 🫶

The tenth annual Dean/Cas Pinefest is officially open for registration!
Now entering its tenth year, DCPF is an annual big-bang style challenge for authors & artists in the Destiel corner of SPN fandom.
Since 2016, this little community has come together to share a staggering 10.6 million words of Destiel fic, and close to a thousand accompanying works of art. It's truly a joy to see what everyone creates every year, and we can't wait for this next round to begin!
Registration will remain open from now until September 30th for authors, with fic drafts & claims information due by November 30th.
Artists may continue to sign up until November 30th, and will have several days to peruse all available fics ahead of anonymous claims on December 6th.
After claims, author/artist teams will have roughly 3 months to complete their fics and artwork before posting commences on pi(e) day – March 14, 2026!
And to mark the occasion of our tenth year, we're introducing themed badges for authors and artists who hit certain milestones during the challenge, as well as the Evergreen Mini-Challenge! This is a series of optional creative challenges that can be filled beyond the usual scope of fic and art. Think of it like a pine-scented, destiel-themed GISH, with more open prompt parameters and a much less stressful time frame.
You can find further details on the Evergreen Mini-Challenge here -- and you're welcome to take part even if you don't sign up for the main part of the challenge!
Full details about the challenge rules, requirements, and schedule can be found via the links at the bottom of this post, and you can register here.
Happy pining, everyone!

I. I needed to write something out showing Rena and Cara's synergy. They're the actual backbone of the team. Sillynette owes them so fucking much
Renared situated herself on top of a light-pole, flute pressed to her lips as the diagram she'd conjured on her arm fell apart into little orange shards of dust. CARA.PACE couldn't be seen, but the scrape of his shield against the concrete and metal could be heard. The sound was harsh, sharp... and almost rhythmic.
Rena began to play: Freestyle, flying fast from beneath slim fingers as the zouk melody built itself up, each next few notes accentuated by a pressed tongue or the click of teeth. Her eyes narrowed, focusing on Taurtufer as CARA.PACE kept him within the intersection of Rue de La Victoire and Rue Saint-Georges. It wasn’t ideal—Nino having to balance corralling Taurtufer in while avoiding getting hit and turned into iron—but the only way her plan would work was if they closed off as much space as possible.
“Mirage!”
Renared hit the front end of her flute against her wrist, faint orange ripples passing through the air from the striking point. On the ground, 15 copies of herself swarmed Taurtufer, Rena grabbing the yo-yo at her side and quickly jumping into the fray. The copies rushed Taurtufer, hopping and jumping and narrowly missing each swing of his whip. The trick, of course (what would a fox be without her tricks) was to always have the copies just hover over Taurtufer as they vaulted over him, always close but never enough to touch. The onslaught of orange zipping around him would disorient him: A visual Gish-gallop, making it impossible to see the real threat threading the yo-yo string around the perimeter.
It helped to think of illusions in terms of rhetoric. Every use of Mirage was an argument to carry a claim—The claim being, obviously, that Renared and CARA.PACE were good at kicking ass.
Rena scurried around the clump of copies swarming Taurtufer, the string trailing behind her. From where she stood, even she could admit the illusion was hard to pick apart. Just a mass of orange arms and black pant legs. Taurtufer wasn’t even bothering to move forward anymore, merely swinging his whip aimlessly. Rena smiled to herself.
Then, she pulled the string taut.
Like the crack of a whip in its own right, the yo-yo cut through every copy of Renared and cinched Taurtufer like a lasso. Enraged, Taurtufer finally locked eyes on the real Rena and sneered, dropping his whip to pull at the string with his hands. What he failed to notice, then, was that CARA.PACE had finally picked up momentum to launch himself and his shield up in the air and right over Rena’s head.
CARA.PACE winked at Taurtufer as he grabbed a shell out of his bag and flung it straight towards his forehead. And, like Goliath against a shell-surfboarding David, Taurtufer keeled over from the impact.
Renared made her way over to their fallen opponent, slowly winding the string back on Ladybug's yo-yo. CARA.PACE had skated over already, dismounting his shield and chopping the whip in half with its edge. He caught the akuma within his hands, the little purple insect weakened and trembling as it tried to crawl out from his fingers.
“Boss!”
At first, Lucky Lucky Ladybug wasn’t anywhere in sight. Just as Renared rolled her eyes and got out her flute to call Ladybug up, she appeared with her arms crossed, clearly storming away from something.
“Hey,” Rena said, raising a hand. “We got everything solved.” The yo-yo was tossed into Ladybug’s hands. “Just need you to set things straight.”
Ladybug clicked her teeth (arguably more at having to do something right after getting into an argument than anything else) and strung the yo-yo’s string around her hands.
“Miraculous Ladybug!”
The akuma was swiped out of CARA.PACE’s hands, launched in the air with Lucky Lucky Ladybug’s yo-yo. In a flash, the world was back to normal again. Renared and CARA.PACE bumped their fists with a silent exchange of glances, Ladybug dusting herself off.
“Well,” she said, “Good work, everyone. Me especially, but that’s neither here nor there.”
“…You?”
“Uh, yeah?” Ladybug tilted her head. “We couldn’t have done this without me, duh. You’re welcome.”
The second exchange of glances between Rena and CARA.PACE was tenser and more confused.

This is about Dead Boy Detectives but also applies elsewhere:
I know it can be hard to just talk to random people you meet about things you’re passionate about, but legit it works. If you can push past the social anxiety (I know it’s hard, I struggle with it too) you’ll be surprised how receptive people can be!
One of the best things we can do to up the chances of getting the show renewed is to get the views up, and while rewatches are great, more and newer viewers are even better. So whenever I can, I’ve been talking the show up to everyone I see.
I just checked my car in for service and the gal taking my info was STOKED when I told her about it because she was looking for a new show to watch. Grabbed her phone and added it to her Netflix list as I was standing there.
The little old lady who does safety inspections at work apparently loves Halloween and all things spooky.
The new security guard mentioned his husband and was excited when I told him about how refreshing the queer normalization is in the show (and showing him a pic of Lukas Gage as the Cat King definitely didn’t hurt either).
The head of Facilities has been watching Doctor Who since the first episode in the 60s and was intrigued by the quirky, campy aspects of it.
There are so many aspects to this show, so many angles of interest, you’ll be surprised how quickly you can sell people on it sometimes!
For me, the opener’ I’ve found most effective is something along the lines of “Hey, I know this is super random, but do you like Sci-fi/fantasy/spooky stuff?” From there, a yes leads into “There’s this show I absolutely love called Dead Boy Detectives on Netflix, you should check it out!” And a bit of info on the show. (It’s about two ghosts that solve supernatural mysteries! It’s fun and weird and funny and so well made!) If there’s time, I’ll pull up the trailer or the teaser for them to watch. Far more often then not, they’re interested.
And if they say no? “Yeah, the genre’s not for everyone. But if you know anyone who does like it, you should have them check out Dead Boy Detectives, it’s super good.”
They may or may not be interested. They might watch it or they might not, could recommend it to others or forget about it completely. But they definitely won’t do any of that if they don’t know it exists.
Right now, I know of 21 people that I’ve told about the show who have come back and told me they loved it. 7 of those have also told me they told their friends and family about it and they’re now watching it too. (And those are just the ones who’ve come back to me about it- there could be even more!)
If there’s one thing I learned from being on a competitive Gish team for a decade, it’s that you never know who will say yes when you ask them something random!
It can be scary to put yourself out there. I really, truly get that. But if you’re able to push past it, it’s truly an effective way to spread the word.

Ok so I finally went through the article properly and here is what it says:
‘Scavenger hunt: We launched our user study as part of the one-week, international online scavenger hunt GISHWES 2015 with tens of thousands of participants of all ages from across the world. Our study was one task among more than 200 tasks for the scavenger hunt, and consisted of annotating 20 shapes from our shape dataset. Users were strongly encouraged, although not forced, to view the tutorial before starting the task. They were told the task has scientific purposes: “providing shape decompositions according to your human brain will allow the researchers to know what humans perceive as main body, parts, and details.” The task was described as: “You will be shown a sequence of shapes and asked to color-code regions according to whether they are main body, parts, or details […] Try to determine which regions are in which level based on visual shape alone instead of function.” In order to help users abstracting semantics, we did four things: (1) We provided online training to the users. (2) We did not display the names of the shapes. (3) We rotated the shapes upside down. (4) We added some artificial shapes. The task description also emphasized the necessity of providing good shape decompositions in order to receive points on the task for the scavenger hunt.’
I’m still curious about one thing. Did they just know Misha or someone in the GISH team personally, or was there just a spn fan on the project? Was it pure coincidence? Idk that’s just so funny to me.
SO WAS ANYONE GOING TO TELL ME THAT MISHA COLLINS CO AUTHORED AN ARTICLE ON SHAPE STRUCTURES OR WAS I JUST SUPPOSED TO HAVE A STROKE WHEN LOOKING AT THE AUTHORS LIKE THE LOSER I AM
#I chose to believe they had a heller on the team#honestly such a flex#my goal in life is to call something I do DESTIEL#be it an algorithm or a method or whatever#there already are SHERLOC and WATSON so why not?#spn#gish#Misha Collins

Get to know me tag ✨️
thank you to @greentea-and-honey for tagging me! Really, thank you for thinking of me c: i'll chooooooooose @thevoidinyourstomach @fragilefirstchance @hamncheese1995 and @toxictoad . You don't have to participate, of course c:
Last song: Imposter Syndrome by Sidney Gish. It's my new depression song. Also my happiness/neutrality song. I just like depressing music!
Favorite color: it's tied between purple and that specific, rich shade of mulberry that's a good mix of red and pink
Last book: Journal 3. I'm writing out translations of the various codes in the book, so it's taking a while. Alsooooo I took a break because I've pretty much been drawing the whole time I'm awake lately
Last TV show: Culinary Class Wars. God, it's so funny. It's so overdramatic, overproduced, over the top in general. They just lowered like 500 pounds of tofu onto the stage from the ceiling, on a palette suspended by chains, with the whole thing lit by SO MANY SPOTLIGHTS. It's absurd and I love it
Sweet/spicy/savory: i love both sweet and salty, so luckily, they don't conflict here!
Last thing i googled: "janitor team with equipment." It's for something I'm drawing. Not gonna draw the equipment, though
Current obsession: Gravity Falls! All of my other interests have receded into the void. Maybe I'll see them again someday
Looking forward to: the only thing i can really think of is the second season of Dungeon Meshi. I really loved the first season, so much so that I went and read the whole manga, which is rare for me. It has become my favorite manga/anime. I particularly love Laios! I relate to him a lot. Oh, also, my friend is coming over to celebrate Thanksmas with me and my dad, and I'm hoping that will be fun! It'll be different this year, due to a family loss, so I'm glad she can come
#text#i don't know why anyone would care about any of this#but i am fulfilling my duty as a member of The Tagged#mulberry is such a broad range of shades but there's only one i really love#i don't know if it has like a sub name

JAZZ AGE SISTER ACT DOLLY SISTERS ORIGINAL 1920S SHOWGIRLS
French vaudeville photograph featuring Rosie Dolly and Jenny Dolly, known professionally as the Dolly Sisters. The Hungarian-American identical twins were dancers, singers and actresses popular in vaudeville and theatre during the 1910s and 1920s. Both of the sisters also appeared in two silent films. With towering plumage in their headdresses, sparkling fringed costumes, and a flirtatious attitude, these two sisters are the picture of Jazz Age style!
Dolly Sisters:Rosie Dolly (October 25, 1892 - February 1, 1970) and Jenny Dolly (October 25, 1892 - June 1, 1941), known professionally as (the) Dolly Sisters, were Hungarian-American identical twin dancers, singers and actresses, popular in vaudeville and theatre during the 1910s and 1920s. Both sisters also appeared in two silent films. The sisters, Rózsika Deutsch (later known as Rose or Rosie) and Janka Deutsch (later known as Yancsi or Jenny), were born on October 24, 1892, in Balassagyarmat, Hungary. Their parents were Julius (born Gyula Deutsch, c. 1865) and Margaret Deutsch (born Margit Weisz, c. 1874). Julius and son Istvan (later known as Edward, born March 31, 1898) emigrated to the United States in October 1904; the twins and their mother arrived May 1905. As children, the sisters trained as dancers and began earning money in beer halls as early as 1907. Barred for being under age by the New York City stage, they toured the Orpheum Circuit until 1909 when they debuted on the Keith Vaudeville Circuit. The following year, they appeared in the stage production of The Echo. In 1911, Florenz Ziegfeld, Jr. signed them to appear in his Ziegfeld Follies for two seasons. Their act was a hit with audiences who enjoyed their glamorous personas. In 1913, the Dolly Sisters decided to try to forge separate careers. Rosie appeared in The Whirl of the World on stage while Jenny teamed up with dancer Harry Fox (whom she married in 1912) in Honeymoon Express. Jenny and Fox also toured the vaudeville circuit as a dance duo. Both sisters made their film debuts in 1915: Jenny starred in The Call of the Dance and Rose appeared opposite Lillian Gish in Lily and the Rose (later reissued as The Tiger Lady). The sisters re-teamed in 1916 to appear in Ziegfeld's Midnight Frolic and returned to vaudeville where they commanded $2,000 a week. In 1918, they appeared in their only film together, the semi-autobiographical The Million Dollar Dollies. After World War I ended, the Dolly Sisters moved to France where they bought a chateau. They toured the theaters and dance halls of Europe and were courted by numerous wealthy men and royalty including Carol II of Romania, Christian X of Denmark and Alfonso XIII of Spain. On several occasions, the sisters would team up with male dance partners and sell tickets to the performances on the same night in order to create rivalry that would boost ticket sales. As their success continued throughout the early 1920s, they were able to command high salaries. During one engagement at the Moulin Rouge in Paris, the sisters were paid $1,200 a night.#DollySisters #ZiegfeldFollies #FricPic #ZiegfeldMidnightFrolic

Just saw a post about A:TLA of all things that turned my brain inside out and rifled its pockets for change. Rather than ramble about my personal existential crisis in the OP's feed, I decided to just post about it.
I used to have this drive that pushed me through every imaginable obstacle and got me to achieve truly impossible shit.
I look back at the stuff I did when I was younger and like...yeah, sure. I got side tracked and made mistakes and shit, but I also like...ya know. Kicked my abusive family to the curb. Managed a restaurant for a while. Kicked my abusive husband to the curb and got full custody of my child. Painted and painted and wrote and wrote and kept painting and kept writing and also made marionettes and display dolls and marionettes and articulated electrical wings with a 16' foot wing span. Landed a six figure job and kept it for eight years. Wrote a 150,000 word novel with a former friend. Participated in or helped run over a hundred bangs and fandom events in less than 4 years. Ran a tight-knit GISH team for....4 years I think? Got my bachelor's degree summa cum laude while raising my son alone and ALSO completing the first year of my grad program. Taught myself to play guitar.
But all that fire just fuckin DIED a couple years ago (after COVID restrictions lifted so not directly correlated to that, though it almost certainly played a role) and I have spent the time ever since trying to figure out what “it” even was, let alone where it went. Meanwhile my therapist and friends kept telling me that "hey, you're just tired/burned out, take it easy" and I couldn't articulate that what I was feeling wasn't exhaustion, it was loss. Something is missing.
The post I linked is about Zuko, but it describes how I used to operate. How I interacted with the world. How it used to feel to get a mad idea then just fucking go for it and screw the haters. And...I think I finally have an answer to my struggle, even though it's a sad one:
The life-long idealist lost his idealism. It isn't just missing, it's fucking dead. How does a person even recover from that? Can they?
...
Why do random fandom posts keep bitch slapping me into new stages of self awareness? Why couldn't I just have an existential breakdown and take up extreme ironing, or find Jesus in a pita pocket, or decide ChatGPT is an alien intelligence and let it tell me I'm the messiah like a normal human being would?

@a-blessing-of-ravens is back staying with me for a month. After binge watching The Expanse last time they were down, this stay's binge watching is BSG and the next one will be Farscape because...space. And we both love hyper competent women in fiction.
BUT we ran a poll in the gish team chat and are making them watch several episodes of Supernatural out of order and without context.
Cam is very much of the stance that "everything i know about this show is against my will and due to you fuckers"
Stay tuned!

If you don’t mind me asking what are all the concerts/shows you’ve attended this year so far? Do you have any more lined up for the rest of the year or are you kind of spontaneous about going out to shows?
A quick list! Some of these shows had a bunch of openers, but I don’t want to go into a ton of detail. Also right now I have tickets to see the mountain goats and dogstar in December but I’ll probably go to a few things before that. Some stuff I plan ahead but others I’ll just check venue websites when I’m bored
