finally found the origin of Jentry's name

according to series creator Echo Wu she has a habit of combining common names to make unique names since she herself has one

apparently Jentry came from a merge of Jennifer and Gentry, and I didn't even know Gentry was a name, and at a glance I would probably pronounce it the way I pronounce Jentry, but I guess it's pronounced with a hard g

anyways, there you go, the interesting little tidbit I got from her interview with Spilling the Milk

I know I haven’t said much of anything about it on my tumblr but on my Pinterest board I have been going CRAZY about Jentry Chau guys. Like I unintentionally binged the show when I started watching it a few weeks ago at like 8 or 9 pm and finished at like 1 CAUSE I COULDN’T STOP WATCHING

would definitely benefit from a slower watch tho- some of those plot twists would have been EVEN BETTER if presented in a week by week basis

Oh my god it’s so good please go and watch Jentry Chau- it’s intentionally made so that if it gets cancelled after season 1 (please don’t let it get cancelled Netflix, please please please please) it has a complete story so there’s no cliffhanger if you’re afraid of getting attached to a show that might get cancelled

Not going to lie this is one of the best shows I've seen this year and it's so refreshing to have a cartoon for all ages to enjoy and also with some action, please go check it 🔥❤️

Alot of cartoons feel like they're going to be inevitably cancelled, which has discouraged alot of viewers from watching them and given executives more reasons to can them. Netflix has done ZERO marketing for this and most of the marketing I have seen has been from the staff of the show, which is absolutely ridiculous. Though we may be bitter (trust me, I understand), it's worth atleast giving it a shot to try and tell them that we want more shows like this.

If you're craving good young-adult supernatural shows, stories with POC and female leading casts that aren't about discrimination or just want more animation aimed for audiences beyond children, PLEASE, PLEASE PLEASE go check this show out and spread the word. It's 13 episodes that are half an hour long, and every one is packed with love!
