truth be told, our story began before i became a memokeeper ! the night i first met my knight was during a masquerade ball, he was one of the guests of honor while my family was apart of the nobles who were in attendance. if anything, you can say fate weaved our meeting carefully ♡ i was barely allowed to leave my family's lands for any activity & led a very lonely but curious life ehe, i was taking the chance to socialize with others until i soon became very overwhelmed with the masses of people and excused myself to the ballroom's balcony. it was there i first met argenti, who was offering me a white rose embroidered handkerchief when he saw the state i was in. if i do remember correctly, he said something on the lines of, "what bothers you, kin of idrila?" .. his eyes was just as sweet and sincere as his smile, i believe that was the second thing that drawn me to him. the first being his rose colored hair of course <3 we spent the rest of the night conversing, though it was really just me asking him any questions that came to mind ! it was the first i talked to someone other than the maids in the manor, someone who wasn't trained to give me default answers either ! ! it was truly so refreshing ♡ .. though this memory will soon become a sore spot for the two of us later on . . . to answer your last question, a couple years later we meet again, and after some angst we end up falling for each other & traveling together ! for the rest of our lives ♥︎

to my surprise, he actually gets quite bashful before flipping it back on me :3c one thing about 'genti is that he loves surprises, and i love to take advantage of that anyway i can <3 from notes, gifts, to my very presence at times !!! his reactions vary as well ! he always makes me feel that my efforts are appreciated with the way he starts squishing my cheeks or scooping me up and showering me with words of praise ౨꒰ྀི´ ˘ ` ꒱ྀིৎ i'm really spoiled just from his words alone wehehe .. when it comes to my grand expressions of affection, ( for example.. our stone statue in our garden :3 ) that's when he truly gets bashful. our childhoods happen to be drastically different.. where luxury items happen to be normal to me, he was never granted that lifestyle. i love taking the chance to spoil him with material things due to the fact i can teach him and guide him through things that he isn't use to ♡

oough.. this is such a hard question dear winter WAH ! ummmm if i had to really choooseee :sulk: i guess the moment where our relationship started to define itself. we were in some ruins camping for a night since the city by it was our next stop! for context, during that time the tensions were high between the two of us.. he happened to find out that my home planet was Melustanin, the very place where Idrila ascended, and that since mirror holders were common on the planet— i firmly believed Idrila to be dead. ( whereas most of the knights of beauty believe that Idrila is only missing. ) due to this conflict in paradise, i was extremely nervous to talk to him. it was normal to me that if i argued with someone, they'd soon want nothing to do with me— so mentally i was preparing to let go of the thought of 'us'. unknown to me, argenti was not the slightest bit angry (;｡-̀﹏-́｡) if anything it kind of explained to him why i decided to follow the path of remembrance instead, but since i was pretty much avoiding conversing it was hard for him to clear up my misunderstanding.. sooo he suggested we should camp for the night using the pretense of needing our beauty sleep instead of traveling through these lost ruins at night. after a decade worth of awkward silence, rosie soon scooted towards me to close the distance between us. ( and he knew i'd usually like to cling to his arm or lay in his chest whenever i could ^^; physical touch my weakness !! ) he didn't say anything— just stared at the gleaming stars along with me.

"do you no longer wish to accompany me?" the knight's voice cut through the silence. his gaze still focused on the nightsky, a hint of emotion treading in his voice that plucked at the feathers of my heart. i remember opening my mouth to speak, to firmly reject such a thing— but he continued.

"it's strange, only a few minutes has passed since our last conversation and i feel as if i haven't heard your voice in a millennium." a smile found it's home on his lips. "i find myself missing you as if we're not sharing this moment together."

as if cupid's fingers started to strum the strings of their golden harp, the chords of affection started to swell in my heart. "... you're not mad?" i spoke, my mind craving the validation that had visited my heart.

"my lady, if anything it pains me that you believe such a thing would anger me."

"but i—"

the knight had finally turnt his head, his sincere pair of eyes had caught the stars in the sky and burnt themselves into my very own. i could feel my breath catch as his armored hands gently caressed my cheek. it was that night i felt as if fuli themselves had casted their gaze upon the two of us, capturing this portrait in my very place. "allow me to rephrase. however could i be angry with you? such a emotion could never manifest between the two of us."

stunned into silence, it seemed soon my heart spoke in place of my mouth. "then what could?"

the rose didn't respond, so how could the lily? they shared a moment for what felt like eternity, their eyes becoming aquariums of brimming feelings. before one's glass could shatter... their campfire's excitement had burned to lengths it could not handle, and soon becoming victim of the sigh of zephyr. the night had closed it's curtain on their tale once again. ♥︎

This year's been a rather messy one though, huh?

Toward the end of this year, it feels like I've been spending a lot of time being angry, frustrated, or sad.

The 2024 election sucked, and looks like we've got a real annoying next four years ahead. It sounds like a pain. Guess we've gotta buckle down and tell the dumber parts of America to go back to the holes they crawled out of, again. Annoying.

I've got a close friend who's moving away the middle of January next year, too. They're basically like one of the two people I regularly spend time with if I'm hanging out with any local friends.

Dad's health still isn't the best either, and he's still not taking care of himself.

Work's also been a pain in the ass, and I think I'm gonna aim to find a job somewhere else by this time next year. Getting really tired of the higher-ups in the company being a disorganized bunch of losers.

All that aside, there've been nice, fun spots throughout this year! It's not all bad junk.

I started transitioning just a month ago, in early November! OwO Still...not really any huge changes coming from that though, haha. It has only been like, just over a month.

I've also been having a lot of fun in Final Fantasy XIV - I just finished the main portion of Shadowbringers, and I'm slowly chipping away at what comes next.

Of course, on the art side of things, I'm still going strong and my work feels more fun and looks cooler than ever. :3

And I've still got my close friends.

The world's always changing, and it's really tiring to try keep up with it as all sorts of stuff comes and goes.

to answer the question:

I have some concept ideas, and after some brainstorming I've decided to combine them to form an EVEN BETTER IDEA.

In the beginning, he doesn't fully join the rebels. Instead, him and Pomni secretly come to an agreement that if, she can't change him like her theory suggests, she would be turning herself in voluntarily to face judgement for her crimes.

If she succeeds however, not only does it prove the inhumane practices of Puppet-making, it would prove Caine wrong on the beliefs instilled in him. He'll have to turn his back against his masters, maybe even fight back against them when the time comes.

And lastly, he'll have to help with a secret investigation Pomni and Abel are conducting. Something which, he'll only get to know the details of IF the Jester succeeds. During this entire time that the agreement is in effect, Caine has to visit ONCE a day and stay longer than 2 hours at minimum, because otherwise it would not be fair.

And guess who gets to win this agreement and who has to stay within the confines of the bunkerrrrr? :3c

Now, the question after that would be: what happens next when Caine disappears, essentially going AWOL? I'll tell you.

Bubble in the original version, is Caine's Butler Blimp. On this one, he is specifically tasked with retrieving Caine's core intact, thus putting him in what would be the role of The Patriarch in this version/roleswap AU. LMFAO

Recap of the three (3) Cats Shows I attended in Munich, Germany (June 14th, 19th, and 22nd 2025)

the recap will be under the cut. I organised it in a way that made the most sense to me:

things special to each show I attended (cast list, view, other noteable things I could think of sharing)

gushing about the actors/characters/the show itself

firstly, special/general things about the evening show on Saturday, June 14th:

I had first row tickets!!! I still can't believe that, to be honest. it's been a lifelong dream of mine to experience the show in the first row, and it finally happened! my sister and I are already starting to set aside money for (hopefully) three first to third row shows the next time the UK International Tour comes to Munich! :'D

the left picture is my sister's view, while the right picture was my view (those tickets were a spontaneous purchase, and both available seats were on opposite sides)

since I also sat at the very end of the first row on the right side, a lot of the cats (including Skimbleshanks, Bombalurina, and Old Deuteronomy, for example) walked/danced past me, and I was (unintentionally) touched on my leg/knee a lot because of it. and, not gonna lie, I loved it every time! (I'm very sensitive to being touched otherwise, lol, but I expected this, so I was prepared, and they don't feel like strangers to me either, so the touches didn't feel like they were burning my skin for once, yay!) side note, though, I did tuck in my legs as much as I possibly could because I knew this would happen and didn't want to risk accidentally making any of the actors stumble over my legs, but oof, my knees hurt so much at the end... ^^"

perhaps a weird detail, but I have a sensitive nose, and they all smelled really, really good! like, the costumes were definitely freshly washed because they all smelled the same, hah! :3c

I won't lie, The Naming of Cats is my least favourite number in the musical, except for when I see it live. I think the way it's done in the live show makes it a lot more fun and engaging than any other version (i.e. the 1998 video or simply listening to the audio), but the staring contest with the cats when they're right in your face with it never gets any easier on me, no matter how many times I do it, lol (thus, I can't even remember who I had said staring contest with...)

here's the cast list (the date was wrong, so ignore that. I also put it in the alt text of the image for anyone who needs it!):

Russell Dickson, who usually plays Munkustrap, was covering Old Deuteronomy here! and Munkustrap was covered by Liam Dean!

during intermission, I noticed that people went on the stage to take photos with Old Deuteronomy, so I already made plans with my sister to hopefully get a photo with him at our last show (spoiler: we did!!!) I didn't know that would be possible! I knew he usually stays on stage during intermission when we went to the shows in 2022, but I guess because of the restrictions at the time it wasn't possible to take photos with him, of course. makes sense! but I've also never seen any of those photos online or heard anyone talk about it before, so I'm not sure if it's something only my theatre did or if it's a newer thing that they do? if anyone knows, I'd love to find out!

special/general things about the evening show on Thursday, June 19th:

I spontaneously decided to go to this show when I saw that a balcony seat for a low price (obstructed view, but first row/close to the stage) was still available. unfortunately, I had to go all by myself because there wasn't another seat in that price category available for my sister to take. but luckily, she allowed me to go anyway (Cats is our thing, so I asked her first if she minded)

I've actually never had a balcony seat before, so that was a very new experience for me! and the obstructed view wasn't the worst thing, either. I couldn't see part of the stage (on the left), but everything else was in perfect view, so I really didn't mind; especially for such a low price (22€).

there were quite a few covers during this particular show! that only made it more worth it to me to have gone so spontaneously because I love experiencing different actors in the same roles! unfortunately, Tantomile was completely missing from the show, which was a little sad to see a lonely Coricopat (but oddly fitting, since I was without my sister for once, hdjkfhsjk)

special/general things about the last show in Munich on Sunday, June 22nd:

as already mentioned, this was the last show in Munich before they moved on with the tour. those tickets were actually the first my sister and I bought once it was announced because we thought we couldn't afford to go another time, so going to the very last show would make us feel a little better about not being able to go again, ya know? sound logic, if you ask me!

my sister and I were finally united! as in, we sat next to each other. yay! we also managed to move up several rows during intermission! we started in row 11 and went up to row 4 (because a lot of seats further up ended up being free, despite having been sold when I looked. sad for the people that couldn't go after all, tho!), so that was awesome!

at the last show, the entire cast was on stage, I'm pretty sure! here's the list:

like I mentioned above, my sister and I managed to get a photo with Old Deuteronomy on stage! it was surreal to be walking on the stage that's been such a huge part of my life for 20 years now, I still can't fully believe that happened!

I'm the awkward little thing on the left with the jacket and bag, while my sister is that beautiful and graceful being on the right! :D [obviously edited for privacy reasons and all that!]

onto the actual show recap a.k.a. my gushing about the actors and what I loved about their performances, but also the show in general:

Hazel Baldwin is a wonderful Jennyanydots! unfortunately, her mic was off during The Gumbie Cat at the show on June 14th. I was still able to hear her, due to being in the first row, but I'm pretty sure nobody past the second or third row could hear her, which is a shame! fortunately, her mic worked shortly after again, and it all went smoothly during the other shows I/we went to!

I also loved when I realised that I'd actually seen Russell Dickson as both Munkustrap and Old Deuteronomy before, in 2022! I knew that name sounded familiar, but didn't quite know why until I looked at the cast list from 2022 again. I thought that was a lot of fun because he's such a great Munkustrap, wow!!! love when he covers Old Deuteronomy, too, his voice is lovely! <3

Shem Omari James is an absolutely amazing Rum Tum Tugger! his voice is unlike any other I've heard for Tugger before, and I think that only made it all the more special to me. he was very flamboyant, in my opinion, and was totally feeling himself as Tugger, which are all qualities I love to see in him!

he went down the first and part of the second row with high-fives; and since I was the last seat in the first row, he didn't hit my hand (it was up) and simply said, "too slow, sorry!" and breezed right past me into the second row, which I found really funny, actually, because it was super in character, as disappointed as I was for a split second, it was a great moment that I'll fondly remember forever! :'D

Daniel Timoney was also a great Rum Tum Tugger! he reminded me a lot of John Partridge's version, due to his voice and mannerisms. it was very interesting to see two rather different approaches to Tugger this time! something that stuck with me was the way he portrayed Tugger to be a tad more playful, for the lack of a better word. for example, when the Rumpus Cat came out, his Tugger hid behind Jellylorum, much like Shem Omari James' did, too, BUT Daniel Timoney's played up being scared of the Rumpus Cat by making himself small behind Jellylorum, holding onto her, and making his entire body tremble in fear. it was super cute! Shem Omari James, on the other hand, only hid behind Jellylorum without fully playing up Tugger's feigned fear. I just thought it was another striking difference in their portrayal of this character. I also felt like Daniel Timoney was a tiny bit... more involved with Mistoffelees. if you know what I mean. in terms of shipping them. (I can't remember any examples, sorry, it's just a feeling I had, lol)

Lucy May Barker is a fantastic Grizabella! I cried every single time (I mean... I always do. it's Memory, after all! but her voice moved something in me, oh, wow!) - I don't have much else to say about her, lol, just a breathtaking performance! <3

Samuel Bateson is also a great Mistoffelees! such a joy to watch him perform and be this truly magical cat! he also actually seems so tiny, it's great!

I'll be honest, my focus is always on Skimbleshanks and Mungojerrie when I'm at a live performance of Cats, so I won't be able to tell you many details that aren't related to them from here on out, so if that's not interesting to you, then I'm sorry to disappoint!

but, my goodness, I just love watching them both! especially all their little interactions, which are so special to me. I think it's rather noticeable that Gavin Eden and Marcus May have been playing their respective roles together for a little while longer, than some of the rest of the cast, in the ways they interact in the background if that makes sense.

Mungojerrie just really felt like a teenager/adolescent (if he was human) to me, and I love when that's the case; especially when Skimbleshanks is always on him to (not always all too gently) correct his behaviour or nudge him in the right direction or what-have-you. it's lovely to watch for me and I enjoy every second of it every single time! <3

I also thought that Marcus May managed to give Mungojerrie quite a bit of depth with his performance because, like I just said, he felt like an actual adolescent with the way he tends to be childish and playful (and sometimes even annoying with it), like during The Gumbie Cat when Skimbleshanks has to almost drag Mungojerrie by his scruff to get him to play his role; but then he was also idolising Rum Tum Tugger and trying so hard to be just like him by imitating his movements that felt very familiar to me; and lastly, he also acted like a big brother and protector whenever danger was near, during the threats of Macavity and when he actually showed up, Mungojerrie protected the kittens, slowly growing into his role as a nearly adult cat.

onto my favourite: I just love, love, looove the way Gavin Eden plays Skimbleshanks with all his little expressions and quirks. he's so fun to watch! I simply couldn't take my eyes off of him for too long, no matter how much I wanted to watch what else was going on on stage, dshfjksgks

Skimble truly is that silly old(er) cat and uncle that's kind of a control freak (same) in the best way. I love how he is disapproving of Rum Tum Tugger's rebellious rockstar image and doesn't want Mungojerrie and the other kittens/younger cats to follow into his paw prints (hah), but admittedly can't fully resist Tugger's charm anyway!

because when I say that, I mean that during the end of Tugger's song when he's doing that little "show" for the kittens, Skimble is lying in the background and moving his arm to the rhythm of Tugger, but always catches himself after a bit with an annoyed expression only to fall back into it again, until he simply stops trying. it's so fun!!! he also ends up dancing with the younger cats during Tugger's song, despite actually trying to stop them from dancing along with him, lol, it's hilarious to me because it's this begrudging way he dances with them, after all, that just gets to me, fhdskfjhskd

during The Gumbie Cat, he's also very busy guiding the kittens/younger cats to do everything right when playing mice and cockroaches. I loved seeing Skimble adjusting their masks, guiding their arms, or straight up pulling/pushing them into doing what they're supposed to, like he does with Mungojerrie!

or during Bustopher Jones when they're about to salute to him, ya know, and he guides all the younger male cats into the right positions, paying extra attention to... Alonzo, I believe? I'm not sure anymore, sorry, but whoever was on the end of their line on the left, that's who.

then, of course, during his own song... oh, how I loved Gavin Eden's performance!!! <3 his performance (both acting and singing) is rather similar to this video I found of Geoffrey Garratt, which I thought was very interesting in retrospect! especially his intonation was similar to this performance of G.G. and I really love that! they're still very different perfomances, of course, but I still thought it to be worth mentioning!

his miming for the storytelling was top-notch, as well, of course! and the sheer joy he exuded with his performance is unforgettable to me! it's generally a joyful song, but something about the way Gavin Eden did this gives me the best feeling inside, dshfkgsdjk

oh! and toward the end, Skimbleshanks and Jennyanydots have more interactions with each other in the background, and I love to see that every time, they're so sweet! <3

onto a more general thing about the musical now: there's truly nothing that compares to it, for me, personally. it's been such a constant part of my life for 20 years now, and it never fails to make me happy; even during my hardest times and lowest lows, Cats just manages to unlock even the last bit of energy inside of me, making me want to sing and dance for hours on end with the biggest smile on my face! it's magical to me! <3 and I'm so incredibly grateful for all the opportunities to see it live as many times as I have both in 2022 and now. I hope for many, many more times.

there's also just something about it that... during the seemingly most random parts, my breath catches and I get tears in my eyes all of a sudden. I could never complain about that, though, when it's such a beautiful thing to be so touched by music that, no matter how many times I've heard and seen it, the same moments get me the most, the same little things cause such an intense wave of emotions that it literally takes my breath away for a good second, or two. and I'm more grateful than I can put into words that it has never left me cold in those 20 years and counting. <3

and like I did with Skimbleshanks' actors in 2022, I sent Gavin Eden a message on Instagram to tell him how wonderful I thought he was because actors deserve to be told that all their hard work is appreciated, ya know. especially stage actors (not super well known ones, at that), who may not hear it all the time! and I'm happy to report that he, too, appreciated my message! I'm just putting that here to maybe encourage people to simply send those stage actors you appreciate a lot a message or a comment (if they have social media, that is), depending on what they allow or you feel more comfortable with, because it's worth letting them know, regardless of whether or not you get a reply out of it (that shouldn't be your priority or end goal with this!) I'm starting to make a habit out of sending Skimbleshanks actors that I see live a message to gush about them because why not, lol, they ought to know that Skimble is my favourite character in the musical and that the way they portray him made me fall in love with the character all over again! (not in those words, though, lol, I swear, my messages are as normal as I can manage them to be! dhskfgsdk)

I also sent Marcus May a message about his Mungojerrie performance, but he hasn't seen it yet, which is something that could very well happen, and that's why it's important that your intention with these things is solely to let them know what you thought, so that whether or not they read it or react to it won't disappoint you or anything!

So! What happened here?

Towards the start of the hiatus - I'd sayyy around Sunny's Birthday Arc? - I was in a pretty iffy headspace, generally. I was getting burnt out with life in general TBH, which might've been pretty easy to see what with how updates slowed during that time, though I still tried to keep up and continue the story. (That was why I brought on Mod Sock, if I remember - she's such a sweetheart and offered to help <333 ily sock /p)

However! On March 28, 2023, my father died. It was sudden andddddd a LOT of my life was up-heaved due to this. He was me and my brothers' main guardian, so there was a lot going on what with who would be taking care of us, where we'd be living, etc etc. Plus, that was only, like, two months before I graduated high school? Lol. So there was also the stress of trying to do THAT as well.

That was the main cause for the hiatus. I honestly just couldn't really balance my mental state, my family situation, AND the responsibility of this comic on top of that - this is just supposed to be a fun thing for me, yknow?? So, I put it on hiatus. I... wasn't really expecting to ever take it off hiatus. I mean, after all those months? After I've gone and started college?? This blog started the summer before my junior year of high school. That's, like, a WHILE.

But then the first chapter of the official OMORI manga came out and it fucking sucked and pissed me off aghalkdhg;ksdhgalshk

That's happening now, I guess. After some light and affectionate prodding (encouragement) from friends I am... tentatively rolling back the hiatus. TENTATIVELY!!!

If it gets too stressful again I've got no problem dropping it again, but I think that now, with a bit more experience and maturity, I should be better at the whole time management and prioritization thing. We'll see how it goes, though. (BTW if there's a notable difference in how updates from here on out looks, it's because I don't use MediBang as a program anymore ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Sorry lol)

Huehuehuehuehueheuehue, how fitting you choose this one given all the work I've been putting into his [purposefully vague] backstory. This man is HELLA crafty and resourceful - he was, after all, a little delinquent on his way to full blown criminal himself before turning over a new leaf only a few years ago.

Flint's the kind of guy whose able to put together a ridiculous plan in minutes using only the things on his person and maybe a random item near by, AND make said plan work almost perfectly every time. No, he won't share his thinking with anyone, you just gotta trust the process bro. B) He's also incredibly good at pranks, especially at seemingly putting them together/in place before you can even prank him first somehow. Lotti hates this cuz it means she always gets hit with a prank first haha

Honestly - not much haha. I guess we both have at LEAST the fact that we're both insanely loyal to those we consider our best friends. Otherwise we're more different than alike I'd think - tho I do think we'd get along very well if we met. Technically speaking one of my persona's IS his friend/neighbor [Cricktok] hahaha

Our differences are pretty night and day I'd say, funny enough. He's way more of a listener, I'm a chatter-box who elongates every story I tell. He's a cheap-stake who tries to get out of paying things - even for friends, I actively pay things before friends even know what's going on. He's an athletic/active type always looking for the next rush of adrenaline, I've got asthma and other health problems that make me wanna just take a nap lol. He's quick to get into a physical fight if things get hairy, I cry if someone raises their voice at me on the phone hahaha we're very different people.

#18. their opinion on lying, stealing, and killing?

Lying - For the most part: doesn't really mind. He does it all the time himself, even to Lotti and others he loves. HOWEVER, later in his arc, he does start to see why lying can be so cruel, and starts to see it as more of a... 'necessary evil' more often than his first tactic. Unless you're a suspect/enemy, then he'll lie his ass off to you just to piss you off.

Stealing - Again, for the most part, is pretty chill with it. It depends on what's stolen/from whom - going back to an earlier answer, he was a delinquent himself and part of what got him eventually caught by his soon-to-be-mentor was trying to steal from her. Actually he did manage to steal from her, he just got cocky and went back for more haha - part of why she took a shine to him because no one had ever been able to dupe her before. If the item is maybe from a giant store, or something that no one would truly need or miss, he doesn't REALLY care - but if it was a more meaningful item, or something someone really needs [like maybe meds, or something to keep them warm/safe/healthy etc] he'll step in and stop them. He actively goes after Cy however purely for the fact that it's her haha she is not allowed to steal and get away with it if he's there.

Killing - surprisingly okay with this. As of right now, he has yet to do so, but is not someone who would hesitate if he were put into the position of 'kill or be killed' or to save another. He does appreciate that Neo Oldesville is very heavy on criminal punishments via the use of community service/rehabilitation, but he is absolutely willing to kill and not feel any remorse or regret [more than likely/depending who he kills] from it if he does. As it currently stands I don't have him killing anyone in the story - yet. That could change of course as it's being restructured for the third time haha.

#31. do they like receiving gifts? giving gifts? what is their ideal gift?

Oh boy does he! He LOVES getting gifts - which is kind of funny seeing how non-materialistic he is most of the time. The man doesn't even have a house or apartment, he just sleeps in his office or a free hotel room at the Wicke Charity run Hotel. But he adores it, and will always do something in return, be it gifting something back like an object, a meal or food item [like say a wine bottle or something] or even just a hand written thank you note.

He isn't big on GIVING gifts - but not in the way that makes him mean haha, he generally prefers to leave something behind where the intended recipient can find it, so to avoid a possible emotional response. He's still learning how to deal with the positive emotions of others who actually like him lol. But he does always try his best when it comes down to it and find something that really resonates for the person, ESPECIALLY if he deems them a friend.

As for an ideal gift... honestly any of Blossom's drawings. He just adores her and her drawing of him, which is why I always like to draw one hanging up on his pushpin board in his office haha. Tho anything Inspector Query would ALSO go over amazingly with him heehehe

8/2/2009 WHEEL SPIN: being silly :3c VERDICT: incorrect :(

The lore dump concludes!! Personally, I could listen to Nannasprite exposit all day, but it's probably for the best that John doesn't keep Rose waiting too much longer. I really love that her face is now angry in the notification bubble. Does this mean she's officially gone Rancorous?

New information about the light vs dark war really changes the dynamic - the forces of light are destined to lose, so it's not an equal fight. More importantly, Nannasprite - who is in part guided by the game - encourages John to head for the light, and Sburb provides gates that go up, but not down. Fighting on the side of the forces of light is seemingly the intended gameplay path for the player, and it seems like John will follow this path - although not because he's deeply invested in being a good person, he's just focused on saving his dad. I think John is focusing himself on the smaller scale goal to distract himself from the idea that Earth is beyond saving, and because whatever else Sburb has in store for him is way too huge to fathom right now.

But what about Rose? What about Dave? They're much edgier people, and if Dave does find his brother's discs and become Rose's server player, I can totally see them going evil mode together, forgoing building upwards and instead trying to explore the mysterious fog below.

We learn that when four kernels land in four spires in both the castles of light and darkness, then things really begin - I guess this means the first four players to reach this point in the game? Which suggests John is the first person in the whole world to reach this point and to beat the meteor level? I'm actually so proud of him, he and rose are really true gamers 🥹 Four spires feels like a narrative choice made so that John's four-person friend group can be the first four players, except GG doesn't have a copy of Sburb, so it would be funny if the game was John, Rose, Dave and some random guy Todd from Missouri.

It seems like the imps, as the lowest level and most common enemy, represent the pawns on the chessboard. So what's next? Will we meet a different boss type for all the pieces? Will we get harlequin horses for the knights to ride on? Will we also meet the white pieces, the counterparts to the black who John might fight alongside?

When Nanna floats through the wall, she leaves ectoplasm dripping down John's Con Air poster which is 1. exactly like a real ghost and 2. kind of rude, John loves that poster. But for sure this is going to tie into John's paranormal lore and ectoBiology. In fact there's a bucket right there for him to collect the slime and do experiments on.

Nanna is EXACTLY like dad. She bakes cookies instead of cakes, and maybe is into a different flavor of clown (perhaps she loves mimes?) but they share so much in common. It really positions John as the odd one out in the family for Not liking clowns and baked goods.

So ! My ocs. I guess I'll do an overall explainer for the overall groups. If you check out my Toyhouse (LINK!) there's a bunch of folders up top that are how I categorise them. It's primarily by universe except for the folders that are just "misc."

So folder 1: Blatant favouritism:

These are silly little guys that don't fit in any specific wider universe, but I really really like. So I'll spotlight the two important ones before i get real in the weeds with my main universe.

In here are notably, my Fursona (self explanatory), Ali and Pittsburgh Cincinnati. There's also Hauntkit and Clearpelt who are warriorcats ocs that *is dragged away by airport security*

... So, Pittsburgh, lovingly sometimes called pissbug, is a weird little Thing who I made as like, an homage to characters like happy bunny and Sweetypuss. She (and her weird dog) exist to stand next to strange and offputting captions. I love her. No further context. She's just silly. and violent.

Now. Ali.

Ali Alighieri has thoroughly stolen the show, and also ties into the next folder along, Making Your MK.

With over a hundred extra images compared to second place (Sorry, Tabitha). Ali is my fucked up little scrunkly. My little baby guy. They're a shared character of mine and @samhainian's, and is from their Creature Feature setting (A modern fantasy setting wherein Cryptids and Magic are real but in our modern world.) They are as such, a modern human young adult... Who is also a demon + magic user.

Strange little pansexual altersex genderqueer poetry-nerd that they are... The modern setting also means they are literally just a tumblr user. A fellow countryman, so to speak.

HOWEVER.... Ali's true origin was in *Purrgatorio*, a scrapped visual novel of mine set in the MYMK universe! They were simply retrofitted into CF as the joke with Purrgatorio was that a regular human had mysteriously just shown up in MYMK's pure-furry setting.... And then when we scrapped the project we got all attatched to our little not-so-blank-slate protagonist. But I'll put a pin in Purrgatorio for later.

Making Your MK.

Okay so here's the big one. The setting with.... (looks at spreadsheet) 109 characters not including so-called incidentals. At time of writing.

MYMK is home to... Multiple stories. As you would hope when a setting has 100+ characters. I'd wager each story has about 10-20 relevant characters tops but with a big shared universe like this there gets to be overlap between casts!!! Yay !!! 😊😊😊

MYMK is the name of the main story in the setting. Pronounced "Making your Mark", it is centered around Markus Felidae (The purple one) and their family. It's very action-adventure-y. It's also the plot I'm most secretive about the backend of since I WILL!!!!! Turn it into a nice prose story with pictures SOMEDAY!!!!! But for now tee hee hee secrets secrets. Markus' family is strange and ragtag and is keeping something from them... I can't ramble on too long here unless further prompted in asks about specifics but!!! Everyone in the MYMK folder has a fully furbished little profile with a blurb about them. So if you're curious....

But yeah, I tend to think of the MYMK setting more in terms of its Locations than its Casts, due to the overlapping nature of them all. The Malbranche may be the villains of the main plot, but they're also major players in relation to The Palsgrave who are the antagonists of Moraine, etc etc,

The country everything in MYMK is set in is called New Orphidian, Southern hemisphere little thing, here's a very cartoony map of it.

Um. Cliffside!

Cliffside is situated on a big ol' Cliff.

A tiny hamlet of a place, it used to have reason to exist, and now does not. It's not even a good tourist locale, as the cliff is much too dangerous compared to the nicer tourist spot of Welkin just a little north. Not to mention nearby Moraine's allure as a tax haven with no labour laws place where a bunch of TV and Movies are filmed!

It's where most of MYMK's main cast reside (except the antagonists from the Big City Varmonte), and is as such a location I have a lot of tiny little worldbuilding thoughts about :)

I won't go into the other locations here just because then this post will SUPER get away from me but... I think most importantly for Cliffside right now...

Is that it's where Purrgatorio is set. Yes, that VN I said got scrapped. It's not dead. It is in fact serving it's original intended purpose as "A (mostly) noncanon exploration of character voice and setting"

It's back and its prose babeyyyyyyy!!! (A BUNCH OF THE EARLY STUFF IS ME BEING SUPER RUSTY ... BE WARNED)

Purrgatorio is currently the most publicly available coherent work I have out of my ocs! It's very low-stakes and serves mostly to bash my toys together and see what character dynamics come out, but you can look if you want to!

(There's also a whole THING on the meta of its Canonicity... It's not canon, but it's also not NOT canon. But if I talk about Metanarrative Timeline Collapse in my normal mundane non-magic setting im gonna sound bonkers ✌)

Ali's dynamics with the MYMK cast are so goddamn funny to me. Like I literally just handed my OCs some ET shit but ET is a sexually repressed tumblr user with a mood disorder.

But yeah I don't think I can coherently string together much more about MYMK without just actually explaining THE WHOLE PLOT.... Though I will absolutely elaborate on any given character's Whole Deal if i'm prompted. (OH MY GOD I DIDNT EVEN TALK ABOUT CHROME AND TABITHA. WAIT. OKAY THERE'S. OK NO IF I TALKED ABOUT THEM IT'D JUST END UP AN ESSAY ,SORRY..)

It has a lower Age Rating than MYMK's "anything goes", as it started as a Pitch Bible Project in my animation class. They're a little neglected but I still love them :) The revamp is extemely recent and not reflected in any of the art/writing yet but I'm workin on it. It still doesn't have a proper title..... OTL

So yeah!! Uh. This wasn't as comprehensive as I was hoping but it turns out I have way, WAY too many thoughts on my guys. And no idea what to do when im actually asked about them so !!!! This was not a very coherent ramble but it was a ramble !

There's things like essays on Chrome and Tabitha (Link) and also The Queer Gender Identities Of The Whole Cast (Link) hiding around on my toyhouse, and once again, Purrgatorio (Link) serves as my sandbox for playing with how these characters act in situations.

But..... ! I did try to make my toyhouse approachable for the average layman. Every character in the MYMK folder (Link) has a *blurb* of information, rather than a giant wall of text explaining everything about them. I want people to be able to understand their general vibe at a glance rather than be overwhelmed.

In any case ???? Uh. Fun game for everyone: If you know your homestuck classpect, every single MYMK character has a classpect and lunar sway. and a birthday. Try and find your andrew-hussie assigned kin! As a Prospitian Witch of Heart, I share my classpect and lunar sway with Chrome. No I don't know what this means. It worries me honestly he's kind of an asshole.

💗 - I'm assuming that this is mostly directed towards self-shippers or people who prefer using self-inserts? Since the second one is specifically for PC's. In all honesty, I really really dislike the idea of self-shipping myself with any fictional characters, even if they're not from DOL. Even when I play otome games, I don't play as myself, I play as Eri or some other OC of mine. Just the idea of inserting myself as some sort of romance interest to any of these characters has my skin crawling. But if I really had to go with a love interest for myself, I'd say I want specifically Female Eden the Hunter. Not Male cause getting pregnant is my worst nightmare. I suppose my way of enjoying DOL is quite unique in that way?

🩷 - Eri really likes the worst kinds of men, but she likes the kind who does have some sort of twisted sense of loyalty to her? I guess that's why she's attracted to Whitney and Eden. At first Eden was her primary love interest because he was the first love interest that I encountered. But then she met Whitney and got manhandled by him and ever since then, she's got a new favourite. Probably doesn't help that Whitney is blond, she's always had a thing for blonds. (Side eyes a certain person)

💜 - Hmm, this is a tough question to answer, because it's a yes and no question? If by her will alone, Eri does want to leave. If she has the chance, she's booking it out of there. But I've never been a very kind person, so she doesn't get to leave no matter how badly she wants. I've arranged it so that she's tied to this town far more tightly than she thinks she is. Even with Bailey gone and the orphanage disbanded, Eri wouldn't be able to leave the depravity of the town. I'm still fleshing out the lore of it, but in essence, I want her to have some sort of connection to Auriga. Still working on it though!! But overall, yes - by Eri's will, if she has the chance she will leave. But will I let her? No, absolutely not.

Hi, happy spooky month, I have a ✨manga rec✨!! And in the spirit of the season, it's a horror story! >:3c

I want to spoil as little as possible because I went into this manga essentially COMPLETELY blind and, honestly, imho, I imagine it's the ideal way to experience the story. I literally first heard about it from a random youtube comment on a video about an entirely different manga--one which, mind you, had VERY different themes, which colored my preconceptions and added to the surprises for me later on!

ANYWAY, what I mean by all that is I'm going to start with the simplest possible summary of the premise, and if that's intriguing enough for you to give it a shot, then I recommend diving right in!! But, if you still need more of an in-depth, slightly spoilery rec? Then I'll gush a bit more under a cut to see if I can hook your attention.

With all that out of the way,

The Summer Hikaru Died is a horror/supernatural story about a high school boy named Yoshiki whose best friend (Hikaru) went missing in the mountains outside of town. What comes back is... something else. It looks, acts, and talks like Hikaru, but it's not him, and Yoshiki is the only one who seems to notice.

The only other thing I knew going in was that the commenter made a brief mention of the "Hikaru"-thing protecting Yoshiki, which seemed odd but intriguing alongside the rest of the premise.

So if that's enough for you (plus the fact that I'm telling you I haven't stopped thinking about this story since I read it two weeks ago), then please check it out! There are only 5 volumes so far!! Suffer through the wait for the rest with meeeeee ಥωಥ

I know what you're thinking, and YES, it appears to be BL between the TIMID HIGH SCHOOL BOY and the ELDRITCH HORROR WEARING THE SKIN OF HIS BEST FRIEND.

And it's SO GOOD.

No SERIOUSLY, for real though, I had NO inkling going into this that it was even in the realm of possibility that it would involve romance

Let alone a nuanced, slow burn, VERY QUEER romance layered with ruminations on grief and identity and one's relationship to society

(ON THIS NOTE, I must advise up front that I DO NOT KNOW if this story will end in tragedy... It's still ongoing, after all! BUT, I think either way it will be an amazing story and... maybe I'm just delusional, and though this may be considered spoilery in itself, the most recent chapters have me optimistic that we might indeed be on track for some sort of happy ending... eventually.)

Anyway, I cannot express enough how incredible it was to uncover this aspect of the story organically without knowing about it beforehand. Born and raised in a rural village, Yoshiki is deep in the closet, and that's reflected in how subtle the hints are at the beginning. Over time, it starts to become clearer and clearer, but always with a layer of plausible deniability, at least if you're not expecting it to take such a queer turn. ("Hikaru" literally makes a ton of "no homo" style jokes early on, which... god don't get me started--)

As you might guess, Yoshiki had feelings for the real Hikaru before his disappearance, and ooh boy does that affect how much the grief and guilt and fear play into things. It's delightfully fucked up.

So yeah. I 100% expected the plot of this manga to revolve around the intrigue of the monster finding out Yoshiki knew its secret, the fear of not knowing when the monster would strike next, etc, but NO! That particular "reveal" happens within the first 10 pages, and then the entity just kind of... lives the life of a high school kid! He's kind of a little shit, but for the most part, he's a nice boy! Yoshiki is the only one who knows who "Hikaru" really is, but much of the tension comes from him having to come to terms with that, rather than the fear itself.

...and also the OTHER horrors and mysteries. There's tension there too, considering it's where the actual plot lies, lmAO. Just because "Hikaru" isn't a totally evil monster doesn't mean there aren't a lot of grotesque and scary things in here. Most of this manga I would classify more in the "supernatural" genre than "horror", but in those moments it DOES delve into horror, it goes pretty damn hard. I remember more than one moment where I felt sharp regret about reading it in the dark at 2 a.m. 💀

Still, if you dare, it's worth the read. I can't recommend it enough.

P.S. I wouldn't say it's a "funny" manga but it does nonetheless have an amazing sense of humor. There are a handful of actual jokes and gags that did have me rolling, but more importantly there's an unspoken, implicit acknowledgement of how absurd this all is, in that way only good self-aware horror can achieve. Take the main character Yoshiki for example. The image I used of him up above? The unsettling camera angle, the haunted look in his eyes? That's just how he always looks. The panel after that one shows that all he's looking at on his phone is a text from his sister reminding him to pick up wasabi flakes.

P.P.S. There's apparently an anime adaptation coming out sometime? I'll probably watch it, but I expect something will be lost in translation. We'll see, I suppose.

*- To be precise: Yoshiki is gay. The creature that takes Hikaru's place has a more nuanced (and alien) perspective on sexuality, and... I'll leave it at that.

Updates

Next week's chapter will be a new fic called "Yokoya Days." It's gonna be small chapters, exploring the blank period of when Yun was found and Kyoshi and Rangi's time in the mansion during those two years. Aka it's a canon compliant prequel. (this and Death of Kyoshi were two fics I wanted to begin and publish since I started Hunt and Thief...but got distracted by other stuff TT0TT).

I've actually reused some ideas for flashbacks in other fics from this one (remixed it slightly to work within the way that fic works. Ex: Rangi/Yun's first meeting in Thief and how he hits on Rangi, and an upcoming chapter in Two Knives with the Masters). Will still use those ideas here cause the scenarios will either hit different, or just have different content entirely.

Well better late than never!

Since it's canon compliant, sadly Kyoshi and Rangi can't get together. ;w; But that doesn't mean I can't explore them becoming friends, and slowly developing feelings for each other! >:3c It's suppose to be about the Yokoyan trio, plus maybe some other fun events, but ofc I'm biased and R*ngshi is taking control. Plus I feel like they have more chances to interact on the estate (both seem to be running around while Yun trains, so like...yeah, they're probs gonna run into each other more often uwu).

I dunno it just feels like a fun thing to explore (and gives me a reason to write gayby!Rangi trying her best™). And I just think it'd be fun to have a lil fic going where there's low to no stakes, and slice of life elements to it. (plus it being short will allow me to write it faster, and give me more of a weekly buffer for other fics *sob* I'm trying to dodge going on hiatus again ok??? *sob*)

Plus it'll be a little challenge, seeing as only Kyoshi can go into town during that time, and Rangi/Yun will have to leave for missions from time to time. So I'd have limited setting to work with. *sob*

No arcs, this is episodic. Most of what I have imagined is during the first year (aka when they babies are all 14).

Two Knives..... I need to edit Interlude 6 some more. Need to start on the first chapter of arc 2. All scenarios are basically done with Arc 2, I just need to write it out (and decide the order of a few of them).
