He doesn’t eat much in the Capitol. 

Which is ironic, seeing how most of his life before the games, Patrick was always hungry. Always trying between schooling and factory shifts to figure out when his next meal was going to come. Why else would he and Hyuk have taken out tesserae all those years ago? It was preferable, playing the odds in the Reaping to starving for the rest of the year.

Nowadays, food is the least of his concerns. Whereas there is still a dearth in District Three, there is surplus in the Capitol. No surplus isn’t the right word; a surplus would mean the Capitol keeps the extra for the future. No, there is an excess of food in the Capitol, an excess that is dumped and left to rot after the pigs have had their share, have had their fun.

When he remembers that, food in the Capitol, no matter how finely it’s been prepared, becomes disgusting. Repulsive when it is combined with the thought of the districts, his people, still starving and fighting one another for the Capitol’s ‘scraps’. One plate is enough for Patrick to feel the bile swish in his stomach and even crawl back up his throat– how is he supposed to enjoy this filth now?

(But of course the Capitol has a way of perverting everything. Who else would have invented a liquid that makes one vomit what was just digested to make room for more food?)

“You didn’t have to,” is the first set of words to come out of his mouth, however. It’s such a childish gesture on her part; as a victor, she and her family should have more than enough riches to cover for food whether she’s in the Capitol or her own district. That and it’s considered normal to take leftovers from these banquets.

And yet, she’s staring him down like they are in covenance– it’s odd…strange how the things the Capitol deem sacred, she’ll approach with the irreverence of a foreigner and yet with the most mundane of objects, like a loaf of bread, most likely one of the hundred baked today and will be replicated tomorrow, like it is worth the weight of gold. He takes a hold of María’s loot. The loaf is still warm, freshly out of the oven, he wants to believe. Like it came from one of the bakeries in say, District 12, rather than a Capitol banquet table. Does she look at the Capitol and its elaborate feasts the same way? District Eight is probably just as bad if not even worse than his own district when it comes to food shortages so maybe her thievery makes sense.

When one has gone without food for long enough, no amount of surplus is enough to satiate the insecurity. He knows that feeling all too well. His stomach growls in anticipation. “…Normally, the Capitol likes to have this with caviar.” A delicacy from District Four along with butter shipped from District Ten. He splits the loaf in two, the inside crackling and breaking into two crisp pieces. “But I think…I think it tastes just as delicious on its own.” He hands María one half while taking a bite out of the other. “Take the other half; I can’t finish it on my own.”

It tastes delicious.

i think the Watchers are talented beautiful artists, they adore creating, but, i think that since a lot of them have access to a sorta ~creative mode, able to spawn in things, and are so, so, old, they lose their way a bit and take cheaper routes, just to get through their schedules.

why cook ? they can spawn in food. theres no use for grinding, they can build walls in seconds, theres no need to travel for supplies, no need to go beyond what they know, no need to be extra.

its much like a/i "art", its easy, but so soullessness, lazy, and cheap.

another layer of disappointment for Grian. at first, everything seems so beautiful, so overwhelming, but the food is bland, and he notices the asymmetry, he counts the stone tiles across the hall and down.

Hes looked at in confusion or even annoyance when he suggests doing things the longer way.

So when he was playing with your fingers, absentmindedly while he went on one of his tangents instead of finishing a story he was telling you, you pulled the pendant out and set it on his lap, waiting to see how long it would take for him to notice it. And it look a while - so long that you couldn’t contain yourself, and nodding down to his lap, you said, “Sam, look.”

He stopped talking to follow your gaze, and resting on his lap was your promise to spend the rest of your life with him, if he'd have you. He stood up, pendant in hand, prompting you to do the same, “Is this…? Actually?!” Then he would pepper your face with kisses, “Do I even have to say it? Yes, yes, yes.”

Sebastian

He had never kissed you quite as passionately as he did then. When you were straddling him, a make out session well underway under the cover of the dim lights in his room, his hands on your back, under your shirt, and your hands tangled in his hair, out of breath… The feeling had consumed you then, and as good as kissing him felt, you pulled away for a moment, and as easy as if you had already said it, you murmured, “Marry me?”

Because he was raised a certain way, Alex always expected he was going to be the one to propose. The excitement of buying a pendant and hiding it from you, the planning out a date that was romantic but not-so-romantic that you’d suspect it, the getting down on one knee and asking you to make him the luckiest man alive… It was corny, he knew, but that’s how he saw it happening.

And maybe you two were too alike, because you were the one to buy the pendant, the one who planned the date and the one who got down on one knee. He was genuinely shocked when he saw you, “Are you serious?” Was the first thing he managed to say before joining you on his knees to look you in the eye, “Are you actually… are you serious? I was going to… I mean, yes, but that was my line!”

+ they have a skewed sense of what's normal/appropriate between brothers. Probably weren't reprimanded/corrected as kids so they just kept doing it. What's sweet as kids is kinda weird now as adults~ idk something like having no sense of personal space or boundaries.

I like this one cz i can just imagine hoeru sharing smth he did with kuon to the gozyu team and everyone's just in shock with their kind of brotherly love mmcmfmd

Very delusional scenario but if they still got along after reuniting as adults, they'd probably take baths together ❤️ Though hoeru's starting to mature so he'd probably say smth like how this is smth they shouldn't be doing but kuon coerces him to stay in the bath longer with him anyway~

Sorry really vague and no concrete examples (can't think of one for brothers-to-brothers, only for sisters-to-sisters mfmfmd) but you get my point right 🥹?

+ Kuon's feelings, worries, and thoughts abt his brother were warped to be super intense after the No One World abduction

examples:

- that thing where older siblings feel a little sad when they notice how much their younger sib is growing and starting to want to be independent -> warping to -> Kuon not wanting Hoeru to leave him AT ALL

- that familial love for your sibling -> sick kind of love and obsession for hoeru. ("Hoeru's my love, my hope, my puppet" uhm! Ok!! Whatever you say Mr. Freaky!)

- Younger siblings being your responsibility. You're their teacher, their second parent, their most available guide (eldest child in an Asian household things ❤️) -> Hoeru grew up to have beliefs that dont align with Kuon's. Kuon thinks he is misguided and wrong. He's the only one that can set him right.

+ As kids, Kuon's praises and sweet touches would be like liquid gold to hoeru. Even if they have a weird relationship now, I'm pretty sure if Kuon praised him, Hoeru would feel like putty inside. It's hard to break off from old wants 🫶

+ not an HC but do you know the whole thing the mom and daughter in EEAAO had? The daughter in the "Alpha universe" was pushed to the limit to be excellent that she became a nihilist and wants to destroy the universe. She seeks out for her mom in this one universe who is awful at everything because she has the greatest potential (the whole "you suck so much that you have nowhere to go but up" thing) and is the only one capable of foiling her universe-ending plans.

The powerful nihilist daughter = Kuon

-but also it's fun how similar they view fear. Tuesday enjoys instilling fear, but in her charac story she does say smth how fear is a warning, it's smth that protects you, while Horropedia says smth abt how fear is a catalyst, and how it makes you think of a solution to a problem

•also cmon, Horropedia and Miss Horror? Fuckin perfect ngl lmfao

•anyways, one of my silly hcs abt Horropedia is that he has a sleeper build, look he's an agent, surely he had training, plus wasn't he the ones who made his own weapons or smth? Like his gadget kit

I put off drawing him for so long because idk how to draw people but I actually like this doodle a lot tbh. my first time drawing him evar teehee

some HCs I have on him below because I love him so much and. I know you also suffer from The Disease

played HD reno with my mom and she named him Freddy. so I just call him that now. Idk if he has an actual name but in my mind he will always be Freddy

probably a resident evil nerd. he also just likes fps and horror games in general, like half-life and doom. his favorites were always RE though (he is very salty about the bad remakes). prefers console to PC but he doesn't mind too much

got into vlogging through his love of games. probably went into a bunch of haunted/rundown buildings during his career, and I like to think he'd make stupid references in his vlog posts (like "wow! what a mansion!"). I picture his vlogging medium to be a mix of Ted the Caver (but the spooky parts are instead cheesy references for laughs) and those urban exploration channels on YouTube

probably freaks S14 out when he makes a gaming reference like they genuinely cannot picture that senior citizen picking up a controller and not spontaneously combusting

speaking of S14, he kind of bullies them in the older brother way. like he doesn't really mean it. at first when S14 became a specimen though, he DEFINITELY did. I think their dynamic is either "older brother & sibling 15 years younger" or "long lost father you met at a Walmart buying soggy cabbage that treats you more like a friend than a child" to be honest

I think he has serious anger issues and possessive tendencies from S12, but at his core he's just kind of a rugged nerd. not a very social person but can hold himself in a conversation

The Gatekeeper Trio are Harmony's (Tibby's Mom) right hand men!

Or well.. sort of. They're actually not allowed to cross the gate that leads to her palace anymore. (Saltwater and Paprika don't have any ill will towards her.) They stalk Joe and Tibby, being the only people who have been able to travel freely between Heaven World and Earth (secrets!!!) They are constantly getting in their way! But.. at least they don't tell Harmony everything :]

I would also like to add they used to babysit Tibby before they got on Harmony's ill side. (Tibby.. doesn't really remember them :[ ) They're concerned about what's going with Harmony, but would, never, counter her.

Trey is an immortal tree that Harmony and Broken Record abandoned long ago, he still guards the entryway to Heaven World despite forgetting a lot of his duties.

He helps fallen Tibby solely due to the fact he has vague memory of his mother! He admits of being a little jealous of Tibby and Yuka (Tap Girl) and expresses a want for change. Tibby promises to take him to Heaven World, and talk to his mom.. even if it makes him nervous.

Egglantine is a hermit who's abandoned society.

Her main role in this AU is being the person willing to take care of "the monster" (my OC the Lost Girl, who is an idol, but was banished) and well.. being a mortal with LOTS of knowledge on Heaven World.

She's obsessed with the Hue Birds, and sort of was "blessed with forbidden knowledge" of Heaven World. She is a unhinged woman, but still just a mortal. She's a total nut, and isolates herself for "the better of other people."

Dieter, Hairold, Donna, and Shep(?) are every day folk! eccentric ones anyway. (Mortals)

These four are just regular ol folk! Their lives have gotten catastrophic since the flow of the world went void! (Pssst, Shep used to live in Heaven World, but he left a long time ago.)

Dieter is the one who helps Tibby and Yuka the most, having.. a car.

Marshal, Cam, and Miss Ribbon

Marshal and Miss Ribbon are twins, and the big siblings to the Chorus Kids (Triplets). Cam is their best friend!!!

Also, spoiler. Crackship territory: Tibby and Marshal both think the other is SUPA COOL.. too cool!!!

Phillip, Betty, Colin, and Bertram

Tibby's friends! They are species RELATED to Harmony and Tibby, but they are not "gods" like they are. (In fact, they're not quite "real", Harmony created them.)

Phillip and Betty are Tibby's age. Colin and Bertram are older than the other three, but Bertram is a "late bloomer". || Bertram treats Tibby like his little brother, which annoys him.

They also all work for Harmony, but they mostly keep this secret from Tibby, until they can't keep quiet anymore.

Boondog

A talking dog pretending to be a magical habitant of Heaven World :] (related to Barista, but they don't talk publicly, as if not to blow Boondog's cover.)

Barista

A wise talking dog! He's always willing to lend a paw, but he's a little trickster for his own amusement. He still runs the Cafe, it's like a secret joint to hang out, and relax from Heaven World's dreariness. :] He does not belong in Heaven World, but he is a beloved old scamp.

He keeps a close eye on Joe, and offers help, but doesn't always announce himself. He doesn't want to do things, for, Joe. If that makes sense.

Also.. he totally stole his wonderful goat :]
