The first time that Yuuji asks you out, you reject him. It’s not a matter of not liking him or liking him (even though you do like him, a lot)—it’s a matter of maintaining your friendship, about weighing risk versus reward, and about pushing your personal feelings aside for what’s best for everybody. 

Yuuji doesn’t listen. To him, your rejection was just confirmation about what he already knew about you—that you had a tendency to run away or avoid things you didn’t want to confront, but only when you were really, truly scared.

So, he does what he does best; he takes it to the next level. Despite being rejected, he holds your hand, and pulls you close, gives you kisses on your cheek, and your neck sometimes, and once you even let him leave a hickey, even though you spew the same mantra of—“You shouldn’t—Yuuji we shouldn’t be doing this”—you let him charm you every time.

Because Yuuji knows that you like him back, and he knows that even though you’re scared to say it, deep down you know that he’s always been yours. Because Yuuji is your best friend, and he knows better than anyone how to punch through the walls you so carefully build up. Because, honestly, you should have learned by now to stop trying to keep him out—he makes his way in no matter how many walls you put up. 

It’s how you end up in bed with him only three mere weeks after rejecting his confession. And even though you’ve both been as close as two people can be, Yuuji knows he’s missing one thing from you; one final seal to show you that he’s it, that there’s nothing to be afraid of, and to get you to stop running once and for all. 

Which is exactly why when you ask him if he wants to see thew new Spiderman movie after breakfast, he smiles and puts his plan into action. 

“Yeah, of course,” Yuuji grins, “If you say that it’s a date.” 

Your smile falls halfway, but Yuuji’s only widens as he slips his hands into his pockets. He waits, expectantly, even through your stunned silence, and you finally sigh when he begins to rock on his heels.  

“Yuuji, you know that–” 

“What I know is that you’ve got to get out of that head of yours sooner than later,” he says, leaning forward to happily invade your space to tap at your forehead, “And that you love me.”  

“Yeah, I kind of thought the confession that I only turned you down because I didn’t want to lose you, and the having sex with you last night kinda let you show that.” 

“Yes, yes, there was all of that,” Yuuji moves his hands to cup the sides of your head, looks into your widening eyes and grins, “But I’m giving you a way to make it official in that complicated little head of yours. So, go on, ask me out. I promise I won’t say no.” 

Your eyebrows pinch together. Yuuji immediately moves his thumbs to stroke at the tail ends of them as you pout, “What do you mean ‘make it official?’ I know—I mean I hope that all our feelings are official.” 

“Make it official to you,” Yuuji clarifies, using his right thumb to tap at your temple, “In that beautiful—” he bends forwards to press a kiss to your forehead, “—smart —” another kiss, “—very complicated —” and another, “—head of yours that I love so much. So, like I was saying: ask me out, so that you get your closure even though you don’t think you need it, and you start seeing and learning that I don’t want to do anything with you without romantic intentions.” 

Yuuji presses one last kiss before pulling away to show you his glowing smile. Your expression softens through his speech—confusion sinking into surprise and then pure adoration. You’re slightly amazed that Yuuji has deciphered this for you before you could even fathom a justification behind your emotions, but then again, you think, you shouldn’t be; Yuuji has proved, throughout the course of your friendship and his courtship, that you have his undivided attention—that you are the object of his desires, and as such, it’s only natural that he knows the parts of you that you don’t think about.  

So, you concede, push your shock and pride aside, and close that embarrassing gaping mouth of yours because this is Yuuji and for all the shit you’ve put him through, the least you could do is ask him out.  

“Okay. Will you go to the movies with me?”  

Except when screws up his face and purses his lip in dissatisfaction, you wonder if you should put him through the wringer yourself.  

Yuuji’s grip on your head tightens ever so slightly, not enough to be uncomfortable, just enough for him to manually shake your head to mirror his own, “You have to make it clearer that you’re asking me out. We go to the movies all the time, I love movies—” 

“Yeah, exactly,” you frown, reaching your right hand to grab at Yuuji’s wrist to still your shaking head, “I’m asking you to do something I know you love.”  

“Ah, but you see how that’s confusing to me,” Yuuji quips, “I am but your oblivious friend—you have to let me know that you want me to be there with you because you like me, otherwise I might not know for the next twenty-something years, and history will repeat itself and—ow!” 

“I get it, you asshole,” you bite. Yuuji gives you a shallow shrug, and a crooked smile, that you, begrudgingly, find endearing. So much so that you groan and let your head fall forward until your forehead is pressed against Yuuji’s chest. You can hear his laughter; feel the way his palms immediately latch to your back to rub shallow circles. “This is stupid. I can’t believe I like you and you’re making me do all this for some three-hour movie.” 

“Oh, wrong L-word, try again.” 

“Even worse. You know I love you and you insist on making me do this.” 

“You must think I’m worth it, or you would have left me hanging a long time ago,” Yuuji gives you another kiss to the crown of your head, before he holds you by the shoulders to urge you to stand up straight, “Now come on, ask me out, sweep me off my feet, m’lady.” 

You blink your eyes open slowly, adjusting for the sparkling image of Yuuji standing before you, waiting far too patiently. That awe washes over you again—a wave for the overbearing love you feel for him, another for the incredible soul the boy in front of you is—for how lucky you truly are to have him.  

And you are lucky to have Yuuji. To be loved by Yuuji. So, you reach for his hands and wrap yours around them before you look up to face him and ask, “Itadori Yuuji, will you go out with me?” 

“Yes, and I’ll do you one better,” he smiles, shakes your hands off so that he can put them on your waist to pull you to his chest, “I’ll be your boyfriend, too.”

For day 22 of the May Trope Mayhem event by @duckprintspress, another ficlet in my Bering and Wells fake dating series! For @purlturtle, who suggested today's prompt for the ship :)

"Helena? What's -" Myka stops at the landing and suddenly realizes why Helena stands frozen in place, looking utterly perplexed.

"...artifact that somehow turns you into an irresistible pet owner?"

Myka groans. "I don't have a better explanation either, but how does that fit in with the rest of what's been happening?"

Helena shrugs. "At this point, either Artie's worst fears are coming true and there is an artifact collector in town, or we will only understand the actual effects of the artifact once we snag it. Now, let's look at this little guy -"

"Or if someone finally talks to us and - wait, Helena, what are you doing?"

Anxiously, Myka watches as Helena slowly approaches the iguana in the corner of the bathroom.

"Well, we can't leave the little guy all alone just because its owner has suddenly lost all interest in him and has run screaming! We can put him up in our spare bedroom."

The reptile's dewlap inflates and it looks agitated, quickly moving its head first this way then that, and if Myka is reading reptilian body language in any way correctly, she doesn't believe that it is trying to make friends with Helena.

Myka tiredly rubs the back of her hand over her eyes. "Do you even know how to take care of an iguana? We should just call animal control and -"

"No!"

Both Myka and the iguana flinch at the loud sound, and Helena backs a way a little and hunkers down to look small and less aggressive to the animal.

"Look, we do both believe this to be artifact related, don't we?" Helena continues quietly and starts to slowly shuffle forward again as the iguana has calmed down. "Anwen was happily telling me all about her pet when we saw her last, you can't think that she would naturally start to be afraid of it. So, hopefully, once the artifact is bagged, we will be able to return this fellow to her and no-one has to be the wiser. You don't want to risk her losing her beloved Kazul to the animal social services just because she was whammied, do you?"

"Fuck, you're right," Myka groans. "ASPCA wouldn't give a pet back to someone who has been so neglectful. Well, shouldn't we grab a cage or something to move him? Uh, her?"

"I haven't seen a cage... Wait, can you tell her gender? I have to admit, I'm not as well versed in reptilian biology as I would like to be right now."

"No, just - Kazul, that's a dragon from a children's book, she's female so I thought - Helena, be careful!"

Helena has reached Kazul and is petting the big reptile's flank. "See, we are going to be fast friends - oh!" The iguana nimbly clambers up her leg, and Helena winces when the claws pierce the fabric of her trousers and dig into her skin.

"Yes, I can tell you're best friends already," Myka says drily, trying not to show how relieved she is that Helena isn't getting attacked by a ten pound reptile, nor how adorable she thinks Helena looks with the iguana in her lap - they are alone right now, so she can't use the 'playing their married couple role' excuse. "I guess I'll go look for a pet carrier bag or something..."

iv. MEET STRAY KIDS

all of the memebers are in their 3rd year; JEONGIN is a year younger than them as he started his schooling early and got admitted early into JYPA.

CHRIS is a year older as he took a gap year after finishing his high school to go back to his home country, australia, and also so that he and his friends could start JYPA together as he was very serious about their band.

KIM SEUNGMIN: vocalist and guitarist of stray kids and simply a menace to society. is the second youngest in his band and never fails to remind his friends of that. love language is annoying the heck out of you. pretty popular around campus but only has a few close friends with whom he's really comfortable with.

LEE YONGBOK: aka felix, singer, occasional songwriter and is the face of the group. one of those people who's sunshine-y aura is felt everytime he enters the room. felix is the kind of person to put anyone at ease; seungmin and him think of each other as their safe place and seungmin feels the most comfortable with him. one of seungmin's closest friends and also his roomate.

LEE MINHO: super talented vocalist and teaches the others choreography that they sometimes try out to make their concerts more fun. seems unapproachable at first but is the sweetest silly guy once you get to know him. although it seems like him and seungmin are always getting on each other's nerves, seungmin actually looks up to minho a lot and really cares about what he thinks.

CHRISTOPHER BAHNG: known around campus as chan, is the leader, producer, and manager of stray kids. always the voice of reason but there is never a day without him contemplating how he became friends with such chaotic people.

SEO CHANGBIN: producer and rapper of the group. while many are scared of him because of his muscular figure, he is actually an absolute sweetheart and the group's biggest cheerleader. has a joke "thing" going on with his roommate, hyunjin.

HWANG HYUNJIN: drummer and vocalist of the group. also a super talented dancer and helps minho with the choreography whenever he has free time. is the designated drama queen of the group. is also a very talented artist and has quite a bit of cash saved up after selling his art as a side hustle.

HAN JISUNG: is a baby girl. songwriter and rapper, and also helps chan and bin in production. called the "ace" as he's part of a million different clubs at JYPA and surprisingly ends up winning in every other random competition.

YANG JEONGIN: youngest of the group and thus babied by everyone (and makes the best use of it). super talented vocalist and self-designated stylist of the group as he's undoubtedly the one with the best fashion sense. jury's still out on whether he'll graduate or not. as they're closest in age, also one of seungmin's closest friends.

sunghoon x fem!reader genre: fluff wc: 879 warnings: none

so let’s say sunghoon is the one who works at the diner

he’s seen his share of customers from the good to the bad

but he’s never seen you

not until today

and you are the most beautiful human being sunghoon has ever seen

you’re by yourself and order a classic

a double stacked cheeseburger with a large side of fries

it’s actually sunghoon’s favorite on the menu as well

now his delusional mind is thinking you’re perfect for each other

you like the same food and there could be more

he wants nothing more than to approach you but he’s so shy

so he sticks to just observing you as you eat, go on your phone and eventually you come up to pay when you’re finished

he has to try his hardest not to become a blabbering mess

he manages to succeed by the grace of god

as he handing you your change, you give him the most beautiful smile

and sunghoon feels his heart melt

he doesn’t see you again until 2 days later

this time you’re with a group of friends

his stares must not be as subtle as he thought because one of your friends excuses herself and comes up to the counter

“i see you staring at y/n, is there a problem?”

so your name is y/n…it’s beautiful just like you

“no there’s no problem!” and he’s waving his hands frantically

he doesn’t want your friend to get the wrong idea

“ahh so it’s like that?” her friend smirks

“i’m wonyoung.” and sunghoon shakes her hand almost hesitantly

“i can help you out you know? be like your wingwoman.”

“uh thanks, i guess? but why would you wanna help me?”

“because y/n has been complaining about not having a bf for months, now there’s an opportunity!”

wonyoung gives sunghoon her number to discuss you later on

sunghoon keeps his eyes off of you from that point forward, not wanting to make himself look suspicious

when your group leaves, he’s finally able to relax

later that night, wonyoung texts him

she tells him all about you, what you like, what you dislike

he’s pleasantly surprised to find out that you have more in common than he thought you would

you’re shy like him, but when around people you’re comfortable with you don’t shut up

you like the same foods, same shows

call him crazy but sunghoon is already imagining your future together <3

wonyoung says she mentioned him to the group, talking about how handsome he is to get y/n interested

he just hopes it works

the next day, you come in again but this time you’re accompanied by a guy

sunghoon can’t help but feel his heart deflate

did you find someone that quickly? so easily?

maybe you never even paid him any mind

he can’t look at you but he hears you laughing with this guy and his heart rages with jealousy

he figures he might as well give up

the next time you come in is a couple days later

you order the same classic meal, and sit in the same spot you’ve practically claimed

he doesn’t want to look at you but something, a feeling, makes him look up at your direction

and you’re already looking at him

but you look down quickly, blush spreading to your cheeks

sunghoon can’t help but smile, you’re so cute it’s annoying

you don’t look at him again

but he continues to look at you, hoping you’ll make eye contact

when you’re preparing to leave, sunghoon decides to take a chance

he walks up to your table, clearing his throat awkwardly, “hi.”

you look up at him, surprised, “hi.”

“i just wanted to come tell you that i think you’re really pretty and uh, i’ve been wanting to talk to you since you first walked in here. this might be awkward cause i saw you with that guy yesterday and maybe you’re already taken but-“

“im not!” you say almost shouting

“that guy was just a lab partner, there’s nothing going on between us… but i thought you had something going on with wonyoung?”

it’s sunghoon’s turn to protest

“no no! wonyoung came up to me cause she saw me staring at you, then when i explained myself she said she’d be my wingwoman. that's why she gave me her number.”

“oh.”

then you start laughing

“i guess we both look kinda dumb.”

sunghoon nods in agreement, “yeah i guess we do”

“but as i was saying, i think you’re really pretty. and now that i know you’re not taken, maybe we could go out sometime?”

you nod enthusiastically, “i’d really like that, sunghoon.”

after 3 amazing dates, sunghoon asks you to be his girlfriend

you of course say yes, making him as well as yourself ecstatic

your whole friend group is happy for you, especially wonyoung

now they don’t have to hear your complaining anymore

you spend almost everyday at the diner, talking to sunghoon when he’s not working

normally this wouldn’t be good

but his boss is chill

you notice at one point while he’s on his phone that sunghoon has your number saved under “my diner girl ❤️”

and your heart pounds

you love your diner boy ❤️
