whitespace--including line breaks and space characters--is forbidden

arrays are indexed starting at -1. they still go up, btw. they just start at -1.

multi-dimensional arrays are indexes boustrophedon-style. every other row is indexed in the opposite direction.

to keep file sizes down, there are no comments

not only do you need a header file for every class declaring variables and functions, you need a footer file with a statement explaining how this class complies with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995.

to encourage concise code, variables are limited to two letters. the first letter determines the type, and the second letter must be unique. also, you are limited to 256 variables at one time, because nobody really needs more than that.

the compiler will attempt to guess whether the value you have typed is decimal, hexidecimal, binary, etc. you may not provide any hints. it needs to do this on its own, for personal growth reasons.

Poppy Playtime Vids - Lixian's New Codes and Potential ARG Things

And here I thought this blog would be on permanent hiatus, but HERE WE ARE! If you may have noticed, Lixian has been including some codes in the latest Poppy Playtime videos that look like they're not only connected to the previous 3 Scary Games lore, but in fact leading up to something big.

Leads to Imgur links ending in 5GgAG94 and ggW6PcQ. Imgur links overlay on top of each other when combined to form an image that goes as: [ ] [ ] FILES . [ ], as well as a message on the bottom left reading "more soon". Separately, the imgur link ending in ggW6PcQ has text on the bottom once brightened that says "find them".

Find who, you may ask? Well, this could be referring to the other editors, or to all three editors, as in canon as we saw from the Longeyed Project videos and beyond, they seem to have been replaced with similar Lunky-style knockoffs.

Poppy Playtime Chapter 4, Part 2: Glitches at 3:58 that give us 3 more Imgur links ending in 2P2UrwN, jQLW0kh, and NoOO2Pz. Putting these images together gives us this:

This is moreso an out of game explanation to the audience from Lix, but all this tells us that we have something big coming soon. It seems like we might finally be getting the project teased way back in the Longeyed Project videos. From the fact that we have an unfinished fill in the blanks, we might just be getting a full website (the ". __" alluding to a ".com" or the like).

EDIT: oh my gosh I forgot to mention this but ALSO in the time since we were gone, we also got ANOTHER showcase of proof that the 3SG lore is alive and kicking - through a video where Lixian puts us down into a hole and we get text that reads "Help me" and "Only you can find the axe" - the same font we've seen in the lore prior too.

Hels a Noon June Day 2: Bdubs

DAY 2!! My favorite Warped Forest Lad!! Sidas may be one of my fav Hels designs so I get to have fun talking about him

Fun Facts!

His name, Sidasa212, actually comes from the color of his headband. The hexidecimal code for it is #51D454, and in the like, RGB area, the number for how much green there is is 212.

The scars around his mouth come from the stitches that Bonesaw had Logos and Mignon sew into his mouth during S5

Sidas wasn't always connected to the Warped Jungle. He used to be like. a base Helsian but during S5 he wanted to get away from the NLO. The Jungle reached out to him and he basically made a deal with it that he would deliver it to the next season, and in return, it would offer him protection from the NLO. The Warped Jungle isn't malicious like the HC5 jungle, either. It just wants to thrive. So it's a symbiotic relationship!

He had a sibling, Meph (hels Pungence) once. Meph was killed during S5, and Sidas had been the one made to do it. He didn't know! He had been tricked into it, and he hates himself for it every day of his life

You know how Bdubs is when he's grumpy? That's Sidas all of the time. After being forced to smile for. As long as he had worked for the NLO (trying to pay off Meph's debt to them)...yea he's. He doesn't smile a lot. Isel is the only person who can make him smile at this point. With Koray, Lucent, and Limbo he won't look grumpy or angry, he's just kind of got a neutral expression, but if he's willing to make even that face around you, it means he cares about you.

He doesn't like using his vines to hold people down, but he's MORE than willing to do it

He despises Logos with every fiber of his being. He hates Bonesaw and Mignon too, but Logos ticks him off cause he's so indifferent about Sidas' hatred of him.

sort of been making it so team classic cover each others weaknesses knowledge/experience wise like.

amy knows a lot abt biology (w a focus on botany) and has her own veggie garden. shes super knowledgeable on hacking and knows a few coding languages, plus she can speak in hexidecimal.

knuckles is a huge history buff and knows tons abt textiles and fabrics and the history n use of them both. he can make clothes in practically any style, and repair em just as easily. hes great at identifying plants, animals and gemstones - even without using his sixth sense on em.

sonic knows a ton abt the Culinary Arts and social studies, and has a ton of textbook info on random psychology stuff memorized. hes great with maps and has one for practically every tiny village, and almost always knows just where he is in the world unless he's totally turned around.

and tails is good when it comes to geology, being able to identify rocks just by sniffing them a little, even when knux cant figure it out himself. he can make huge defense robots on a dime, and can cook up alloys and polymers like nobody's business.

while sonic, tails and knux know alot abt surviving in the wild, amys good at navigating cities and city folk. sonic and knux are good at cooking, and tails and amy can bake rlly well. amy's great at convincing people to do what's right, tails has the knowledge to back it up, knux has the wisdom, and sonic's got the fame.

if one falls, th others hold em up. theyre a team, and they got each others' backs always.

I've been using and thinking about this for a while, but what do you think of the programmatic notation '0s' for seximal?

I mean this as it relates to '0x' for hex, '0b' for binary and '0' for octal.

('0h' for Heximal also works, but it WILL get confused with hexidecimal)

You may be disappointed to learn that there currently exist no programming languages with seximal numbers.

it's a nice idea but I'd rather a programming language use a more robust system that can accommodate arbitrary bases than just add in more single-letter codes for my favorites you know

So I got a couple questions

First: How do you get text to be a different color? (besides the colors provided by tumblr) I think it looks super cool :3

Second: Are you okay with people drawing their ocs to fit the Sunshine Suburbia au? Not to force you to insert them or anything, but just for funsies? If not that's okay /gen

I also want to say that I love your art, I wish I could transfer it into physical food and eat it /vpos

1: (ALOT OF JARGON WARNING!)

So I mainly edit my Sunshine Suburbia posts using Tumblr on the computer (Aka On my browser, This stuff is impossible on mobile as far as I know…) which allows you to swap from rich text editor (The default, and only option on the mobile app) to HTML (Alot more flexible on what you can do- BUT a headache to look at because it’ll be a GIANT wall of format along with your post’s text)

So once you’ve managed to get the HTML editor up you’ll need a hex code which represents the color you want your text to be- (ex: the code I use for Jevin is #0a01fe). The easiest way to get these is using your art program of choice (In my case, Procreate fw!) and color picking said color and checking the Hexidecimal section on where you pick colors!

You could manually input the HTML coding for colors but I really don’t like looking at HTML code for very long (Augh headache) so I use this text editor https://spacegen.carrd.co/ by another user called luna ! I copy paste the generated code to the Tumblr HTML editor (Usually replacing the text I had put in there, You can also italicize, bolden, etc using the spacegen editor ) and go to preview at the top of the editor and wow volia! More specifically colored text!!

Notes:

- Line breaks / Read mores break when you swap over from Rich Text to HTML but colored text does not break when you switch from HTML to Rich Text.

- Please be aware of what background your text will be seen on… It’s kind of why Wenda’s text isn’t colored on the Sunshine suburbia blog… Can’t guarantee people can read it as not everyone uses a dark bg- Same goes for Black / Tenebrae and some characters having texts slightly off from their actual colors. (Too light on white bgs, Too dark on black bgs…)

2: I’m absolutely fine with people drawing and writing their ocs to fit the Sunshine Suburbia au! Excited even! It’s even how I’d likely handle people interacting with the askblog (NOT THIS BLOG, DO NOT RP WITH THIS BLOG, THIS IS MY PERSONAL ART BLOG!!!! MY THERAPIST WILL HEAR ABOUT YOU IF YOU DO THAT!) as I sort of want to avoid crossovers mostly to keep the setting from getting messy! (I’ll likely detail this in the Visitor guide post on the Sunshine suburbia blog itself)

I’m just not cool with like— Trying to squirm in relationships (Mostly romantic and familial… But knowing someone before/ being friends with them is fine- It doesn’t have as many implications as the latter…) on the characters as they have their own things going on unless they’ve extensively discussed it with me WHICH I highly doubt would happen and alot of the times it doesn’t fit with the AU… But art and writing to fit them into the AU without those previous elements is COOL AND I’D LOVE TO SEE EM- PLEASE TAG ME IF YOU DO THAT!

I’d also try to provide more info about the world in there as the blog goes on to help with that- (Don’t be scared to prod for world building questions in this case… Most are not spoilery but most of the asks on this personal blog are bound to be a bit looser than what I’d give on the actual blog itself)

Finally high time we perform alchemy in this house. And to do that we need dowels.

The captchalouge card dowel looks unchanged but it has been slightly shaved smaller. The shaving cream does not populate a knowable item right off the bat, most likely because the code isnt valid. Not saying you cant make whatever it is, its just not something SBURB planned on creating. Each item also comes with a different grist cost so far consisting of only shale and build grist. The more complex an item the more it costs. The hammer is 2 build grist while the pogo ride is 5 build grist and 1 shale. This means theres potential to make some very expensive items, a car for example.

First order of business is getting John more cards for his sylladex. Surprisingly these items, like the generic cube, form actual physical objects. No more cool glowing trees. Next order of business, test out all the cards.

That mystery card? Very nearly makes a functional rocket pack. Who owns a rocket pack and what do we have to change to get John his own. He would be such a menace with the ability to fly I just know it. Using the power of sweet catches and learned knowledge John no longer has to suffer the sylladex of dumbasses, at least.

In any case, reading Wise Guy gave John a revelation. Combine two punched cards in the lathe.

And for 10 build 16 shale...

Fun facts about punched cards, the first punched cards were actually used with looms to create weave patterns. This was expanded upon and used on Harmoniums to create music, those cool self playing pianos.. It wasnt until the early 20th century that they were used for inputing data and computer programs on early computers. Imagine a stack maybe four or five inches thick for a single computer program.*

Im still trying to breakdown the captcha codes to punch card science. Best I can tell for now is that the captcha itself uses a hexidecimal variant (perhaps base64?) but translating that to a punch card system of 4 columns 12 rows is nebulous at best, at least if you follow diagrams of actual punch cards.

Despite being a hyper intelligent AI, Sage failed a lot of her classes in kindergarten (she wanted to try it out to see what it was like to have a regular kid life). This is due to giving correct, advanced answers to simple questions that don't technically follow the directions. Like for example, if the kids are practicing the alphabet, Sage will write it out in binary code or hexidecimal format. Or she'll do the math wrong because she's working from a better math form derived from a unified field theory she created. Most of the kids genuinely think she's dumb, and she ended up dropping out, but still finds the experience worth it because she made friends with Bowser Jr.

how to estimate the colour of something based on its hex code:

let's take #ffb485

that's probably about . a lightist yellow or orange i'd estimate? (no I haven't looked at the colour)

how to figure this out :

if you know rgb settings, you know that you have three options:

R: 000-255 G: 000-255 B: 000-255

meaning there are 256 colour options for each number

funny thing about the number 256: it's 16^2

in a hex code, there are 6 digits; split them into three pairs

NEXT: how hexidecimal works

you need to know how it works to get colours without having to look it up

soooo. basically... hexadecimal means that we're in base 16. you know how, in base ten, there's ten numbers ?

0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

then, once we get past 9, we add a digit, set it to the next number up, and restart. same in hexadecimal- but we restart when we get to 16, not 10. we don't have numbers that represent the numbers 10-15, so we replace that with letters. counting in hexadecimal looks something like this:

0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 a b c d e f 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 1a 1b 1c ... etc

a = 10, b = 11, c = 12, ... etc

soo, I wanna show you how to get a number based on a hexedecimal code

take f9a. we can split those apart first into three different numbers - f00, 90, and a. as we established before, f is equal to 15. so, that means we have cycled through the full 16 cycle twice (15 * 16 * 16). that gives us the number 3840. now, the next number- 90. no, 90 does NOT equal 90. the 9 means that you've cycled 9 times, which means 9 16s (9 * 16). this gives us 144. now , we have 3840 + 144 . then, the last digit- a. a is equal to 10, so now we have 3840 + 144 + 10 . therefore, f9a = 3995 in decimal. go ahead, check my work!

(a good formula to figure out what to multiply stuff by is this: [first digit] * 16^[amount of digits - 1] . so, if you have like. b039, to figure out b000, you'd do b * 16^(4-1).)

NOW, to turn this into solving hex codes for colour:

remember this bit from before?

this is important. see, the first two digits in a hex code control the RED, the second two control the GREEN, and the last two control the BLUE. you effectively control the RGB settings with it.

for example: let's take the hex from before; #ffb485

# ff / b4 / 85

we learned how to read hexadecimal earlier, so just quickly solve for the numbers (and add 1 to your ending amount!)

that would give us R:256 G:181 B:134 . that's your RGB code from the hex code! that colour is about..

so i'd say my initial guess wasn't too far off!

I’ve always been curious but how do you get the different font colours that aren’t the standard 7? I’m relatively new to tumblr and have seen people using it but have never figured it out for myself.

Well, anon, you have to be on desktop to do it, so if you're on mobile, the standard options are the only ones you got, I'm afraid!

But if you're on desktop, there's a little gear in the top right hand corner of the post that you can click to get into the post settings. There's a drop down option that allows you to switch from Rich Text to HTML. Then you use HTML to change the colors of various words!

I personally like to bold them as well, but you can switch back to the preview to do that if you want. I used to prefer the gradient on all caps, but I actually think it looks good either way. So I've switched it up a bit.

Oh yes, but the gradient is a bit more complicated, if you're interested in doing that specifically. Single color is easier.

But I wrote it all out in this post right here! So you can see how to do it if you like! In case you're not going to do the gradient, though, here's the code I use for colors:

Where it says "hexidecimal" you'll just put the hexidecimal for whatever color you want. For instance, the green I always use is #2fbfc0.

Gradient uses the same code, but alters the color hex just a little for every letter in the text. But you can do it a lot easier by following the instructions in the post I linked!
