Embracing Nature and Celebrations: A Harmonious Summer in Lifechanyuan Communities
From early May to midsummer, the Canada Headquarters of Lifechanyuan experienced its most beautiful season, with abundant rain and warm sunshine nurturing lush greenery and clear skies. Meanwhile, in the Thailand Second Home Community, on July 10th, we celebrated the Abbot's birthday with a festive celebration, sharing in singing, dancing, and cooking special offerings. Despite the rainy season, our vegetable gardens thrived, and we repaired the chicken coop, welcoming a new kitten into our harmonious community. On July 20th, during the Buddhist Three Treasures Festival, we visited the temple, brought garden offerings, and enjoyed a joyful outing to Hompanding Farm, filled with laughter and interaction with nature. Our daily lives are filled with beauty, love, and gratitude.

(18+ only) nsfw alphabet– michael robinavitch .𖥔 ݁ ˖ִ ࣪₊ ⊹˚
Tumblr media
pairing : michael "robby" robinavitch x afab!reader
18+ MDNI—warning : explicit sexual content, use of cunt, rough sex, praise kink, post-sex intimacy, body worship, possessive language. this is just pure filth start to finish like oh my god...
a/n : no plot, just robby being hot, obsessed, and way too good at ruining your cunt. you're welcome. roughly 4,000 words... needless to say I was very passionate about this one as well. I also did one for dr. abbot!. anyways, happy pitt thursday & ty for 100 followers !
♡ A = Aftercare (what they’re like after sex)
He treats aftercare like it’s an extension of the act itself—just as intimate, just as necessary. He pulls you against his chest immediately after, and murmurs, “You alright?” His voice is low and hoarse, lips ghosting your temple. He doesn’t rush. You’ll feel his fingers smoothing across your skin, touching every place he left red or trembling.
He wipes you down gently with a warm cloth—he never makes you do it yourself—and then pulls the blanket up over both of you. There’s a certain reverence in the way he laces your fingers together afterward. He might not always say the words, but it’s there: You’re mine. I’ve got you.
♡ B = Body part (their favorite body part of theirs and also their partner’s)
His favorite on himself : His hands because they get to touch you. He’s obsessed with how much he can make you feel with just his fingertips. “Tell me where you want me,” he’ll whisper against your throat while teasing a finger down your thigh.
On you : Your mouth. Not just for what it does, but how it moves. The curve when you smile, the little intake of breath when you’re trying not to moan, the way it parts when he slides a finger into you and whispers something filthy against your ear.
He’s obsessed with the way you whimper against his kiss. Sometimes he’ll press his thumb into your bottom lip and say, “Let me see how much you want it.” And then watch—ruthlessly—as you fall apart
♡ C = Cum (anything to do with cum, basically)
Robby finishes deep, every time. It’s instinctive. You clenching around him when he starts to lose control? That’s what does it. He’ll bury his face in your shoulder with a groan that sounds almost pained, holding you in place while he spills inside you. And afterward? He stays inside just a little too long. “Just… let me have this for a second.”
He loves watching it drip out of you after. Fingers gentle but greedy as he brushes it back in, eyes dark with a possessiveness he never voices out loud.
♡ D = Dirty secret (pretty self explanatory, a dirty secret of theirs)
He has a thing for catching you in the middle of it.
Not touching yourself for him—not some showy, performed thing. No. He wants to catch you when you think he’s not there. When it’s real. Quiet. Desperate. Private.
That’s his secret.
He’s walked in on you once—half-asleep, legs spread, hand between your thighs, whispering his name under your breath without even realizing it. You didn’t notice him right away.
But he noticed everything.
The way your hips stuttered. The little gasp you made when your fingers brushed just right. The slick sound of you trying to get yourself off like it wasn’t already too much. The blush that crept up your chest when you finally looked over and saw him standing there, hard in his jeans, eyes dark, watching.
He hasn’t stopped thinking about it since.
And sometimes—he doesn’t mean to—but he lingers outside the bedroom door when you don’t know he’s home. Just listening. Breathing slow. Letting his cock throb in his hand while you whimper his name with your fingers buried inside you.
He won’t ask you to stop. He won’t interrupt.
♡ E = Experience (how experienced are they? do they know what they’re doing?)
Robby is the guy who doesn’t look like a heartbreaker, but you find out after that he could be. He’s had lovers—but he doesn’t throw it around casually. When he touches you, it’s obvious : he knows what he’s doing. His rhythm, his pressure, the way he reads your breath and adjusts in real time. Precision with heat.
And when you moan his name? His lips part, slow, like he’s drinking you in. “That’s it. Just like that. Good girl. Let me hear you.”
♡ F = Favorite position (this goes without saying)
In the privacy of the bedroom, Robby's preferred position is classic missionary. He loves to have you lying beneath him, legs wrapped around his waist, allowing for deep penetration and full-body contact. This position enables him to maintain eye contact, reading every nuance of your expressions, and to kiss you deeply, muffling shared moans.
What elevates this position for him is the intimacy it fosters. He can feel your heartbeat against his chest, synchronize his breathing with yours, and whisper sweet or filthy nothings directly into your ear. The ability to have his hands free to explore your body, caress your sides, or intertwine fingers adds layers to the connection. It's not just about the physical pleasure but the profound emotional bond it reinforces each time.
♡ G = Goofy (are they more serious in the moment? are they humorous? etc.)
Not really goofy—more warm. He’s serious when it counts, but he has this soft, crooked smirk when you laugh mid-kiss. He’ll say something under his breath like “You’re trouble, you know that?” while flipping you over. The humor is subtle—intimate. Like you’re in on something private.
♡ H = Hair (how well groomed are they? does the carpet match the drapes? etc.)
He’s got a full bush, thick and dark, not out of neglect but because he doesn’t see the point in shaving something that feels natural. The hair down there is soft but dense, and when he’s hard? It frames his cock like it’s meant to be worshipped.
There’s a trail leading up from his pelvis—dark and straight. It’s the kind of thing you see once and can’t stop staring at, especially when his shirt rides up after a long shift and your eyes catch that line of hair leading down. He notices when you look. He always notices.
And let’s not skip the beard.
He loves burying his mouth between your thighs like it’s the only place he wants to be. His tongue is slow, deep, deliberate. His stubble drags across every tender inch, rough enough to leave you raw, just the way he knows you like it.
He shaved once.
He came out of the bathroom with a towel slung low, jaw bare, clean, pink in places where the razor caught. He looked at you—wet hair, smug expression, a glint in his eye like he thought he’d done something special.
Your eyes dragged over his face, down to the curve of his throat. Blank. Quiet. Then :
“You shaved.”
He nodded, a little too proud. “Figured I’d try something different.”
You didn’t answer. Just got under the covers, and faced the wall.
You didn’t fuck him for a week.
You still let him pull you close. Still let him kiss your neck. But your cunt stayed untouched, aching and slick in silence, because you chose to starve him with it. To remind him that this—you—has rules.
You waited until the stubble came back.
That night, you let him between your legs.
You didn’t speak. Just pulled him down and pressed your cunt to his mouth like something owed. He took it like an apology.
Now, he doesn’t forget. When he fucks you with his mouth, he does it slow. Thorough. Until you shake. Until you cry out. Until it’s more than just pleasure—it’s possession. His jaw works like he’s starving. Like he remembers every second of those nights you wouldn't let him have it.
When he pulls back—chin wet, lips parted—his breath ghosts over your skin. You’re flushed and trembling, still pulsing from the friction.
He looks up, voice wrecked, reverent.
“I won’t make that mistake again.”
You exhale, heavy, jaw slack.
“You won’t.”
♡ I = Intimacy (how are they during the moment? the romantic aspect)
When he’s in your bed, it’s not about sex—it’s about claiming space in your life. Every touch is intentional. Every glance lingers a second too long. Every thrust carries the weight of everything he doesn’t say out loud.
He gives his full attention, eyes locked on yours while his hands hold you still, and his voice drops in your ear :
“I want you to feel me tomorrow. I want you to remember this.”
And afterward? When your legs are still shaking and your mind’s gone foggy? He pulls you into his chest because you’re his. It's the kind of closeness that tells you—no one else gets this version of him.
♡ J = Jack off (masturbation headcanon)
Robby jerks off only when it’s necessary—when he’s so hard it aches, or when he’s had a day that pressed every damn button and he needs you to take the edge off… but you’re not there.
He always does it the same way : Back against the headboard, hand braced on his thigh, one slow stroke at a time while his eyes are shut and you’re the only thing in his head. Sometimes it’s your voice. Sometimes it’s the way your body looked the last time you collapsed under him.
He finishes hard, jaw clenched, chest rising. And every time? He mutters your name under his breath, like a confession he’s still trying to outrun.
♡ K = Kink (one or more of their kinks)
He doesn’t just want to fuck you—he wants to manage you. Override your thoughts. Rewire what you associate with pleasure until the only thing you crave is his voice, his rules, his cock.
And he does it slow. He makes you ask. Not because he’s into power trips—but because he wants to hear you break.
“You want something, you say it. Use your words.”
“That tone won’t get you what you need, sweetheart.”
And when you finally say it—broken, desperate, voice shaking—he rewards you by giving all of himself, rough hands, heavy weight, deliberate thrusts that make you sob.
He’s into positional control—knees spread wide, hands behind your back, chin tilted up with one thick hand under your jaw. Not to scare you. To focus you.
You don’t look away. You don’t squirm.
You listen. You obey.
And when you don’t? He’ll stop mid-thrust, press his body flush to yours, and growl :
“Try that again. See what it gets you.”
When he puts you where he wants you and says, “Stay still while I fuck you,” —you do. Every time.
That’s the kink : You, undone. And him, fully in control of everything.
♡ L = Location (favorite places to do the do)
He’s a bed man, 100%. Not because he’s boring—because he wants time, room, and access. Sheets pushed down. One knee between your thighs. He wants to make a mess.
But he does have a soft spot for the couch especially after a long day, when you curl into his side while watching something on TV, kiss his neck, and he doesn’t even bother pulling your pants all the way off before tugging you into his lap and sliding in from underneath.
♡ M = Motivation (what turns them on, gets them going)
What gets Robby going?
You. Wanting him.
It’s the way you shift closer when you speak—like your body can’t help but chase him. The brush of your leg against his under the table, slow and unthinking, but your breath always catches after. The way your eyes dilate when he says your name low.
It’s instinct. Want in its rawest form. Not loud. Not deliberate. Just something in you pulling toward something in him.
And he notices.
Feels it in the silence. In the way your thighs tense when he stands too close. In the heat radiating off you when you pretend you’re not thinking about his hands on your skin. But you are. And he knows it.
And when you do ask?
That’s what does it.
Just a soft little please—barely above a whisper. His cock’s already hard in his pants, jaw tight, breath low and steady, because if he moves too fast, he’ll lose it.
And if you’re already wet when he checks?
He groans—low, rough, wrecked.
“Yeah. That’s all I fuckin’ need.”
Because that’s what gets him. Not performance. Not noise. Just need. Honest, helpless, soaked-through need.
The kind that has your cunt dripping just from the thought of him.
That kind of power? That kind of want?
He’ll fuck you senseless for it. Every time.
♡ N = No (something they wouldn’t do, turn offs)
He won’t turn sex into something cold and punishing.
You can tease him. Push him. You can mouth off just to see how long it takes for him to press you into the mattress and make you sorry you started it. He likes that. He likes the challenge.
But he doesn’t want cruelty. Not from you, not toward you.
The first time it comes up, it’s not even in bed.
You say it offhandedly—half a joke, half testing the waters. Something you read in a post, or a thread, or some comment section that said men like him—older, quiet, in control—like it mean. That they get off on making you cry. That pain is the point. That it’s not real unless it hurts.
And his reaction is immediate. Not angry—just quiet. Controlled. Serious in that way he gets when he needs you to listen.
He touches your chin, gently, turns your face toward him. Thumb brushing your cheek. His eyes on yours.
“No, honey. We don’t do that here.”
His voice is low, even.
“You want to be taken apart? Fine. You want to be mine? Good. But not like that.”
Then he pulls back just enough to look you in the eyes.
He doesn’t care what you’ve read or what men like him are supposed to want—he’s not here to watch you cry just to feel powerful, not interested in pain that leaves you numb or pushing past what you can take just because you think that’s what gets him off.
He wants you honest, wanting, undone by pleasure. He’ll ruin you. Wreck you. Push you to the edge of something so intense it leaves you shaking.
But pain for pain’s sake? Anything that feels hollow, detached, or cruel?
That’s where he stops.
♡ O = Oral (preference in giving or receiving, skill, etc.)
Giving?
Devotional. He doesn’t rush. He doesn’t tease. He feasts. Like your thighs are the only place he wants to die.
One arm looped under your leg, the other gripping your hip. He’ll drag his tongue in deep, slow strokes until you’re begging. Not because he wants praise—because he wants you undone. Wants your thighs trembling, your voice high and ruined, your fingers scrabbling through his hair with desperate little gasps.
Receiving?
He loves it—but more because he likes watching you want it. The heat in your eyes, the way you look up while you suck him slow, spit slicking your lips. If you grip his thighs and choke a little, he’ll groan and push your hair back :
“Easy, sweetheart… take your time. I’m not going anywhere.”
♡ P = Pace (are they fast and rough? slow and sensual? etc.)
Controlled.
Not fast, not rough—measured. Like every thrust is calculated to make you feel exactly what he wants you to.
He’ll keep it slow until you’re practically begging, then snap his hips once—just once—and smirk when you whimper.
“That’s what you needed, huh?”
He’ll go harder when you ask. But his rhythm never loses that precision.
♡ Q = Quickie (their opinions on quickies, how often, etc.)
Robby doesn’t like quickies. Not really.
He wants time—wants to press his mouth to every inch of your skin, listen to the way your breath shifts, draw your orgasm out like he’s conducting it. Quickies cut corners, and Robby? Doesn’t like cutting corners.
But you? You’re standing just a little too close during a quiet stretch in the ER—eyes wide, cheeks flushed, voice barely above a whisper: “Please. I need you. Right now.”
And when you reach for his hand, tug him gently by the wrist toward the back hallway— He knows where you’re going. And he doesn’t stop you.
You slip into the empty on-call room. He’s two steps behind you, shutting the door with a quiet click and turning the lock.
His voice is low, sharp, already strained:
“You really want this here?”
You nod, out of breath.
“Please, Robby… I need it. I don’t care if it’s quick. I just—fuck—I need you inside me.”
That’s all it takes.
He’s on you in a second—one hand at your throat, the other already pushing you back against the wall. His mouth crashes into yours—filthy, impatient—and he grabs your scrub pants, yanking them down just enough to expose your thighs.
Your underwear stays on.
He hooks a finger under the elastic, pulls it to the side, and groans when he sees you—slick, swollen, already soaked for him.
“You came in here like this?” His voice is gravel now. “Fucking desperate for it?”
You nod again. Barely.
“Robby—please. I need you—need to feel you—”
He growls low in his throat and presses two fingers into you hard and fast, feeling you stretch around him, already pulsing.
“God, you’re fucking dripping.”
He pulls his cock out fast—thick, flushed, angry—and lines himself up without another word. Then, still holding your underwear to the side, he drives into you in one brutal thrust.
You gasp—loud—and his hand’s at your mouth now, pinning you to the wall with his weight.
“Shhh. Be quiet for me. You wanted this so bad, now take it.”
The rhythm is relentless. Fast. Deep. Ruined in five minutes flat. Your hands scramble at his back. Your forehead presses to his collarbone. You’re so full, so fucked, all you can do is sob into his palm as your orgasm crashes over you way too soon.
He fucks you through it. Doesn’t stop. Doesn’t even slow down. Just grits out,
“That’s it. Just like that. Come around me. God, you feel fucking perfect—”
When he spills inside you, it’s with a broken moan into your shoulder, hips jerking, fingers gripping your waist like he’s trying to hold himself together.
After? He pulls out slow. Gently tucks himself away. Adjusts your underwear back into place and helps you with your pants. Then brushes his thumb along your lower lip where you bit down too hard.
“Next time? You wait until we’re off shift. So I can do that right.”
But you know—The next time you beg?
He’s going to cave again.
He doesn’t like quickies. But for you? He’ll fuck you like it’s the last five minutes of his life.
♡ R = Risk (are they game to experiment? do they take risks? etc.)
Robby’s not reckless. But behind closed doors? He’ll try anything once—as long as it comes with trust.
You want to be tied up? He’ll get a rope. You want to try temperature play? He’s already warming the oil. But he needs to know you’re there with him, not playing a part.
♡ S = Stamina (how many rounds can they go for? how long do they last?)
Two to three rounds, easily—if not more, depending on the day.
And in between rounds? He doesn’t check out. He kisses you. Runs his fingers through your hair. Stays in it.
You won’t even realize he’s hard again until he’s flipping you over, saying, “We're not done yet.”
♡ T = Toys (do they own toys? do they use them? on a partner or themselves?)
Selective. But curious. He keeps a viberator in the nightstand drawer—not for you to use alone, but for him to hold against you while he’s buried inside you.
“Let go. Come on. Let me feel it.”
He’s also into remote-control toys. The idea of having you wear one while you sit across the table at dinner? Knowing he could ruin you the second you tease him?
Yeah. He’s thought about it. A lot.
♡ U = Unfair (how much they like to tease)
He lives to tease. Not cruelly—strategically. He’ll keep you on the edge for hours. Pull away right before you come. Make you ride him slow until your voice breaks.
And the whole time? He’ll say shit like:
“You want to come? Say it. Say it like you mean it.”
And when you finally do? He’ll give it to you. Hard. Without hesitation. But only once he’s dragged every drop of want out of you first.
♡ V = Volume (how loud they are, what sounds they make, etc.)
Grunts. Groans. Low curses whispered into your neck. The sound he makes when he comes is rough.
And when you ride him, slow and deep? He’ll let out this low, desperate moan into your chest that sounds like he’s trying to hold himself back and failing.
That sound? It’s all because of you.
♡ W = Wild card (a random headcanon for the character)
He kept the first pair of underwear you left at his place. Not to be creepy. Not to sniff or jerk off to. Just… because.
They’re in the back of his drawer, folded neatly like he might give them back, but he won’t. It’s a memento. A reminder of the first night you stayed. The first night you were his.
♡ X = X-ray (let’s see what’s going on under those clothes)
Thick. Heavy. Veined. He’s not porn-star long, but he doesn’t need to be—the girth alone is enough to make you gasp every time.
You feel him with your whole body. Even when he’s just rubbing the tip through your slick folds, your hips buck involuntarily, desperate for him to fill you. Stretch you. Keep you full until your thighs shake.
And he knows it. Smirks when he catches the way you hesitate right before he pushes in.
“Too much?” he’ll murmur, nudging at your entrance with slow, deliberate pressure.
“You can take it. You always do.”
He presses all the way in, holds there while your body adjusts. He doesn’t fuck like he’s showing off. He fucks like he’s memorizing you with it. Like he’s been thinking about it all day.
And when he pulls out, slow and slick and aching, you’re already sore. Already wanting it again.
♡ Y = Yearning (how high is their sex drive?)
Robby can hold off for days. Weeks, even. But when he finally has you?
He’s starving.
He doesn’t just want your body. He wants you wrecked. Tearing up. Shaking. Pressing your mouth to his neck so no one hears how hard you come for him.
He wants you craving him just as badly. Not for show. Not for ego. Because that’s the part he hides from everyone else—how badly he needs you when he doesn’t have you.
And when he’s buried in you, deep and slow, holding your wrists down above your head, mouth at your throat, voice shaking from restraint?
That’s when you hear it : “I’ve needed this. You have no idea how fucking much.”
♡ Z = Zzz (how quickly they fall asleep afterwards)
You fall asleep on your side, facing him. One arm draped over his chest, leg tangled between his, skin still hot from where your bodies were pressed tight.
You’re bare.
Still flushed.
Still soft all over, your thighs sticky, your cunt sore and slick from how deep he took you.
And Robby’s still wide awake. Lying flat on his back, one hand resting on the dip of your waist—but his eyes?
They’re on you.
He watches the way your breath slows, the way your mouth parts slightly, the way your fingers twitch against his ribs while you sleep. You’re loose now. Limp and warm and completely undone—and he still feels you, everywhere.
Your stomach rises and falls against him in slow, perfect rhythm. There’s a faint line on your hip—stretch mark, scar, something you used to try and hide.
He sees it.
He loves it.
He traces it lightly with his thumb, barely a touch.
He wants to move.
Wants to roll you onto your back, lick into your cunt until you're whimpering again, make you take him slow all over.
Wants to feel you twitch when he whispers things he never says out loud—like how badly he wants to keep you like this forever he literally has a ring hidden in his nightstand but that’s besides the point.
But he doesn’t. You’re asleep. Spent. Trusting him with your whole body.
So he shifts in a little closer. Presses a kiss to your shoulder. Lets his palm settle over your hip, wide and warm and claiming. Because for now, that’s enough.
Eventually, his eyes will close.
But not yet.
Not when you’re still glowing from what he did to you.

this idea has my <3, i hope you enjoy anon ^-^
Tumblr media
pairing: Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch x F!Doctor!Reader genre: literally just pure fluff notes: private but not secret established relationship, close-quarters intimacy, the interns make a cameo, abbot, mel, & langdon are your x Robby's #1 fans, Robby being a soft boy who anticipates your needs
It was the worst winter storm Pennsylvania had seen in years—whiteout conditions, icy roads, and windchills low enough to freeze the Allegheny. The hospital had issued a mass alert just after midnight, encouraging all staff to remain onsite rather than risk the commute home.
By the time it had snowed eight inches overnight, with half the staff stuck in their neighborhoods or crawling along the freeway, you and Robby had offered to pull back-to-back coverage. By moon fall, the ER had calmed down just enough for you to take a deep breath—and then you remembered the on-call room.
The room was barely more than a glorified broom closet with a twin-sized bunk bed that sagged slightly in the middle. It had a small bathroom attached, but calling it a shower was generous—it was more like one of those overhead chemical rinse stations from a high school science lab. The water ran out too quickly, never got hotter than lukewarm, and sputtered like it resented being asked to work overtime.
Still, you were exhausted and freezing, barely holding yourself upright after fifteen straight hours on your feet. Robby had noticed the way you leaned against the wall between cases, the slight tremble in your fingers as you sipped water, and the dark shadows blooming beneath your eyes.
"You should crash in the on-call room for a bit," he said softly, brushing his hand down your arm in that way he always did when he was trying to coax you into taking care of yourself. It was one of his tells—the way his fingers would trail lightly over your sleeve, slow and grounding. Just enough pressure to let you know he was there. He’d done it on your worst days, in trauma bays and stairwells and break rooms, and every time, it had a way of quieting the static in your chest.
"I’m okay," you lied through heavy eyes, stubborn and determined to monitor your cases. "There’s still a couple charts I need to—"
"They’ll still be here when you come back," he interrupted gently. "You’re running on fumes."
You hesitated, and that was all he needed. He reached up, gently tucking a damp, frizzy strand of hair behind your ear—his fingers brushing your temple with a tenderness that made your breath catch. That was the final nudge, the one that broke through your inflexibility and reminded you he always saw you, even when you tried to act fine.
"I’ll come with you," he added, voice casual but warm. "We’re stuck here ‘til the snow clears anyway. Plus Dana offered to hold down the fort."
That got you.
You didn’t say yes so much as let out a long sigh and nod, heavy with defeat and gratitude. Robby didn’t gloat—just gave your shoulder a warm squeeze and offered his hand.
"Come on," he said, voice soft. "Before we have to admit you."
You rolled your eyes, but when he stepped in beside you and gently slipped your arm around his waist, letting you lean into him as you walked the corridor together, you didn’t pull away. You were too tired to pretend you weren’t clinging to him a little. He didn’t comment on it. Just adjusted his pace to match yours and kept you steady, steering you carefully around gurneys and corners like you were the most precious thing in the building.
The room wasn’t much, but with Robby beside you, it didn’t matter. You’d shared a quick shower—taking turns under the weak stream of water, half-laughing at how absurdly cold and uneven it was, bumping elbows as you tried not to slip on the slick tile. The water had been lukewarm at best, sputtering like it didn’t want to be there either, but Robby’s hands had been warm as he helped rinse shampoo from your hair, his fingers gentle and slow like he had all the time in the world. You’d stood forehead to forehead for a few moments after, breathing in the steam and each other.
When you dried off and dressed in spare sweats and thermals, he tugged your sleeve and gave you that look—the one that said he wasn’t asking, just quietly waiting for you to rest. He got into bed first, shifting to the far side and patting the space beside him in quiet invitation. You didn't hesitate before crawling in after him, into the warmth of his waiting arms. The scent of cedar soap clung faintly to the collar of his shirt as you settled into the space he made for you—safe, soft, familiar. He pulled you close, like he’d been holding that shape for you all day.
He pressed a soft kiss to your shoulder as he settled behind you, arm draped low across your waist, thumb tracing slow circles against the soft cotton of your borrowed shirt. You sighed, muscles finally starting to unclench, exhaustion winning the fight against stubbornness. His touch was light, reassuring, like he was reminding you he was there without needing to say a word.
“I’ve got you,” he whispered, voice rasped from hours of use but still the gentlest thing in the room.
You reached down to brush your fingers against his, lacing them quietly together.
“Thank you,” you murmured, eyes already slipping closed.
By morning, you were tucked under one thin hospital-issued blanket, facing each other on the narrow twin bed, your foreheads nearly touching. Robby’s arms were wrapped around you like a cocoon, holding you to his chest as though to shield you from the last bit of cold left in the world. One of your legs was slotted between his, your hands tangled together between your bodies like an anchor. You were nestled in close, limbs entwined in that soft, sleepy way that only came from long hours, cold nights, and knowing each other like the moon knows the night sky—something instinctive and effortlessly familiar, like you'd been made to find each other.
Which is precisely the scene your dear colleagues walked in on when they cracked open the door to find the unofficial king and queen of the ER.
Abbot blinked. Then smiled like he’d just walked in on a Hallmark movie. "Told you."
Langdon didn’t say a word—just pulled out his phone and snapped a picture with the biggest grin plastered on his face, immediately sending the photo to the group chat.
"Is that... Dr. Robby?" came Whitaker’s voice from behind them, whispering.
Santos grinned. "That’s gonna break headlines."
Javadi peeked in around the corner, wide-eyed. "They’re actually snuggling. Like real-life snuggling."
Mel, ever neutral, simply nodded. "Their body language indicates long-term emotional attachment." However, even she couldn't hide the glee in her voice.
Moments later, a domino of phones vibrated.
Collins: Excuse me why are they adorable
Dana: I can retire in peace.
McKay: I called it. I knew it and I hate how much I love that I was right.
Mohan: Guess who owes me $5
Mateo: I don't remember signing a contract
Back on the bed, Robby stirred slightly, his grip tightening as if on instinct. He inhaled softly, nose brushing your hairline, and smiled—a small, contented thing. Like your scent alone had reached some deep, quiet place in him and told him everything was okay.
"Give them ten more minutes," Abbot whispered, gently closing the door with a soft click. "They’ve earned it."

Something unlocks after you get engaged.
It’s not dramatic, not fireworks. Just this quiet, grounded certainty that settles between you. This is it. This is real. There’s a ring on your finger, a boy in the other room who looks like both of you, and Jack—Jack, who once felt like an impossible choice, now feels like home.
And you continue to see a side of him you’re not entirely used to.
He's still Jack—still grumbles about budget cuts and leaves coffee mugs in strange places—but he’s also… attentive. Almost absurdly so. Sweet in a way that feels like he’s been saving it all up. And maybe a little unhinged in the best, horniest way. He touches you constantly. Always finds a way to press a kiss to your temple, your shoulder, your stomach. Like he still can’t believe he gets to.
“I locked you down,” he mutters one morning, arms snug around your waist as you brush your teeth. “You, Beau, and a damn ring. The trifecta.”
“You make it sound like a hostage situation,” you laugh, spitting into the sink.
Jack grins against your neck. “Maybe I should squirrel you away to the courthouse before you change your mind.”
“Oh, we were dangerously close to that, don’t kid yourself,” you say, rinsing. “But I wanted the view.”
And the view was worth it.
Lake Como in late May. A small villa perched on a hillside, all warm stone and blooming vines. The ceremony was intimate—friends, family, a very small and slightly chaotic PTMC contingent somehow made the trip. Robby cried, and Dana pretended not to. Your sister wrangled Beau through the flower-petal aisle like she’d been training for it her whole life.
You danced under string lights. Said “I do” to a man who still sometimes forgets to fold towels correctly but looks at you like you hung the stars.
And somehow—shockingly—you agreed to let your sister take Beau back with her, so you and Jack could have a true honeymoon.
Just you. Just him.
The first night, you’re on the balcony in a linen robe and nothing else, wine glass in hand, the lake glowing below you.
Jack comes up behind you—barefoot, shirtless, lazy smile on his face—and wraps his arms around your waist like he can’t help himself.
“I love this,” you murmur. “I love you. I want to stay here forever.”
“I know,” he says, kissing that spot just beneath your ear. Then, after a beat, “But… is it just me, or does it feel like missing a limb without Beau? …no pun intended.”
You laugh and spin in his arms, wrapping your hands around his neck. “God, I love you. This is why I married you. You’re in my brain.”
“I’m just saying,” he grins, brushing your hair back. “Maybe we wouldn’t miss him so much if you were already carrying another little Abbot with you.”
You raise a brow. “Wow. Wasting no time, huh?”
“I’ve been waiting six years Mrs. Abbot. You can’t be surprised.”
“Careful,” you say, teasing, “you sound like you get off to me being barefoot and pregnant.”
Jack hums, low and amused. “I mean… if the shoe fits.”
You groan, half-exasperated, half turned on. “God, you’re such a menace.”
“An insatiable menace,” he says, sliding his hands beneath your robe. “Who happens to be very good at making you come. Efficient, even. Fill you so good we’d get twins. Two for one.”
“Okay, Doctor Abbot,” you laugh, swatting at his chest. “Did you hit your head or is this just post-wedding delirium?”
He grumbles into your neck.
You swat his chest. “You know, for a doctor, you know nothing about conception.”
“I know the basics,” he says, hand smoothing over your hip, “and that I’m pretty damn good at it.”
“God, you are so full of yourself. Should’ve never married a jock.”
He smirks. “Did someone say cock?” His hips roll against yours, slow and deliberate, pressing a point.
You groan, laughing into his mouth as he kisses you. “You’re ridiculous. And I thought you’d go for the “and you’ll be so full of me’ route”
“What can I say, I’m maturing,” he mumbles, deepening the kiss, his hands roaming now. “You’re lucky you married me. Any other man would’ve passed out from post-wedding exhaustion.”
“Instead I got the energizer bunny in scrubs.”
He scoops you up with ease—one arm under your thighs, the other around your back—and carries you inside like it’s your first night all over again. He drops you onto the bed gently, then follows, kissing a path down your stomach.
“Jack,” you murmur, threading your fingers through his hair.
“I’m just doing a thorough exam,” he says into your skin. “You’ve under my care, it would be negligent not to check on you after such a major life event like getting married.”
“You’re annoying,” you say, breath hitching.
“You love it.”
You do.
You love all of it. The warmth, the ease, the hunger in him that never faded, just changed shape over time. You let him take his time—relearn your body like it’s the first time all over again. You lose yourself in him, in the soft press of lips to skin, the whispered confessions that slip out only when his guard is down.
Laughing, gasping, kissing like it’s the only language you know. After, you lay tangled together, sweat-damp and boneless.
He traces circles on your back, eyes half-lidded. “Seriously. Twins.”
“You’re out of your mind.”
“I’m just saying, it’s efficient.”
“Beau is six and I’m still tired.”
Jack chuckles. “Fine. No pressure. Just practice. Lots of practice.”
You roll over, facing him. “You happy?”
He doesn’t hesitate. “More than I knew I could be.”
The room is quiet. Outside, the lake glimmers in moonlight.
“I was scared, you know,” you whisper.
Jack glances down at you. “When?”
“All of it. Letting you back in. Saying yes. I kept thinking, what if we just mess it up again?”
He brushes a hand along your jaw. “We probably will. Sometimes. But I’m not going anywhere. And I won’t let you carry the weight alone.”
Your eyes sting. “That’s what scared me before. Feeling like I was alone in it.”
“I know,” he says softly. “I felt it too. But I didn’t know how to fix it then. I was still trying to outrun things.”
“And now?”
“Now I’m tired of running.”
You press a kiss to his chest. “So no running. No hiding.”
“No hiding,” he repeats.
There’s a long silence, filled only by the soft hum of the night and your breathing slowing in sync.
Then Jack says, so quietly you almost miss it: “I want a big life with you.”
You look up. “You already have one.”
He smiles. “I know. But I want more of it. All the messy, beautiful pieces. Soccer games and parent-teacher conferences. Slow Sundays. Another baby. or two. or ten. Just—more.”
Your throat tightens. “God, you’re such a sap now.”
“Shut up,” he mutters, pulling you in closer.
You grin into his skin. “Don’t worry. I’m into it.”
And he’s into you—clearly—because within minutes, he’s proving again just how committed he is to “practice.”
That night, you fall asleep in his arms, lulled by the gentle lapping of water against the shore and the quiet certainty that this time, you didn’t choose wrong.
His arm is slung heavy around your waist, one leg wedged between yours. His hand is resting possessively on your hip, thumb tucked just under the curve of your stomach like it belongs there. You don’t move. You just lay there, soaking in the stillness.
The lake outside is calm. There’s birdsong, a faint breeze, and nothing else.
You sigh into the silence.
“Mmm,” Jack mumbles, tightening his grip. “Alive?”
“Barely.”
“You wore me out,” he says, voice hoarse and self-satisfied.
“You begged for it.”
“I did,” he agrees. Then, after a beat: “I’d do it again.”
You smile, pressing your nose to his chest. “We’ve officially entered the honeymoon stage.”
“We skipped it the first time. I’m cashing in.”
You shift slightly, pressing your cold toes to his shin. He flinches.
“Jesus.”
“Sorry,” you murmur. “Poor circulation. Still your wife though.”
“Unfortunately.”
You laugh, then kiss his shoulder. “What time is it?”
“No idea. But I think I’ve achieved full body paralysis.”
“Same.”
There’s a long, quiet pause. Then Jack says, “We should go swimming.”
You blink. “Right now?”
“Yeah. Why not? Lake’s right there. We’re in Italy. No Beau to referee. Might be our last chance before life crashes back in.”
“Very romantic. Also, I don’t even know where I packed my swimsuit.”
“Who said anything about swimsuits?”
You arch a brow. “You want to skinny-dip? In the daytime?”
He shrugs, rolling onto his back. “I’m just saying, we’re legally married. What are they gonna do, arrest us for being in love?”
“Jack.”
“Live a little, Mrs. Abbot.”
You stare at him. “You’re serious.”
“I’m proposing an impulsive memory. Don’t make me swim alone like some pervert.”
You groan dramatically, grabbing a sheet as you roll out of bed. “Fine. But if I get arrested in a foreign country for public indecency, you better bail me out.”
He grins. “Knew you couldn’t resist me.”
You wrap yourself in the linen sheet toga-style and pad barefoot out onto the balcony. The stairs down to the private dock are warm beneath your feet, sun already high and bright.
Jack follows behind, also barely dressed, with two towels slung over his shoulder and that cocky post-wedding glow.
The water is cool but not cold. Crisp. Clean. You wade in first, shrieking at the initial shock until Jack yanks you forward and pulls you under with him.
When you surface, sputtering, hair slicked back and gasping from laughter, he’s looking at you like he can’t believe this is his life.
“You’re unreal,” he says, reverent.
You splash water in his face. “I married you, didn’t I?”
“Best scam I’ve ever pulled.”
You drift closer, legs brushing. His hand cups the back of your neck. You kiss, slow and deep and lazy, and when he pulls back, you can see the smile in his eyes.
The lake stretches out behind him. A postcard come to life.
You stay in the lake until your fingers are pruned and your stomach’s growling. Breakfast is pastries you picked up from a little corner bakery, still flakey and warm. Jack makes espresso in the tiny kitchen, whistling off-key. It’s stupidly domestic. And perfect.
You sit on the floor of the villa, legs tangled, plates on your laps. He steals a bite of your sfogliatella without asking.
“Do you think we should call Beau today?” you ask, chewing.
Jack nods, swallowing his own bite. “Yeah. Just to check in. Not now though. He’ll be with your sister at the zoo or the pool or learning how to disassemble small electronics, depending on her mood.”
You laugh. “She does run a very strange babysitting operation.”
“She’s a miracle worker. Honestly, I’m still shocked she agreed to take him.”
“She told me every married couple deserves three uninterrupted days after the ‘I do.’ Then handed me a jumbo box of condoms and said not to come home pregnant unless it was intentional.”
Jack chokes on his coffee. “Jesus Christ.”
You shrug, smug. “Just saying—her words, not mine.”
He leans back against the couch, eyeing you. “And is it?”
You glance at him.
“Intentional.”
The air shifts.
You don’t answer right away. Just push your plate aside and crawl into his lap. He adjusts instantly, arms wrapping around you, palms dragging up your thighs.
“I think… I’m not not open to it,” you say slowly. “Before, it felt impossible. Everything felt so fragile. But now? I look at you and Beau, and it’s like—yeah. I want more of this. More of us.”
He swallows, throat bobbing. “You’re sure?”
You smile. “You’re the only thing I’ve ever been sure about.”
His mouth finds yours, urgent now, full of promise. You kiss like it’s a decision, a vow, a whole damn future.
And when he finally pulls back, he’s flushed and breathless.
“I love you so much it’s physically uncomfortable.”
You laugh against his jaw. “Sucks to be you, I guess.”
He grins. “Yeah. Tragic.”
That afternoon, you nap in the sun. The villa has a hammock strung between two cypress trees and Jack insists on sharing it, even though he’s too long and your legs keep tangling and one of you always ends up with an elbow in the ribs.
“I hope Beau’s having a good day,” you murmur, eyes closed, head on his chest.
Jack’s hand is tracing idle circles on your bare arm. “I’m sure he is. You think he’ll remember the wedding?”
“Some pieces,” you say. “The dancing. The cake. Robby giving him ten euros to yell ‘just kiss already!’ before we even got to the vows.”
“God,” he sigh. “What a circus.”
You hum in agreement.
Then, “Do you think we’re doing okay? With him? With this?”
Jack shifts beneath you. “Honestly? I think we’re doing great. Not perfect. But real. He’s kind. Confident. Feels safe. That’s what matters.”
You nod slowly. “I used to worry so much about what we were showing him, you know? The split. The mess.”
“He saw love,” Jack says simply. “Even when it was hard. Especially then.”
You press your face to his chest, breathing in the familiar scent of him—sun, sweat, skin.
“I’m glad we waited to do this right,” you whisper. “I don’t think I could’ve survived a version of us where we never figured it out.”
Jack’s voice is thick. “Me either.”
That night, you dress up.
No real reason. Just a silky dress you’ve been saving, heels a little higher than you usually wear. Jack puts on real pants—well, linen slacks—and a button-down that’s already half undone by the time he finishes wrestling with the cuffs.
He sees you and stops short.
“Jesus.”
“Too much?”
“Not enough.”
Dinner is just a short walk into the village—twinkly lights and hand-pulled pasta and a carafe of wine that disappears too quickly. You talk about everything and nothing. The neighbors at home. Future holidays. How much more you can fit in your suitcase without paying extra baggage fees.
“You’re going to check my carry-on and judge me, aren’t you?” you accuse.
“Only because you brought six pairs of shoes and wore the same ones every day.”
“They’re options, Jack.”
He leans over the table, resting his chin on his hand. “God, I love you.”
You stop. Just for a second. Let it wash over you.
“I love you too.”
Later, you walk back slow. His hand finds yours. Your shoulders brush.
Back at the villa, Jack peels the dress off you like he’s unwrapping a gift. Kisses every inch of bare skin he uncovers. You let him take his time.
You make love slow. No rush. No hunger. Just reverence. It feels different this time—heavier, softer, but still electric.
You don’t remember falling asleep—just the weight of Jack’s body against yours, the slow press of his kisses, the steady rhythm of your breath returning to normal in the quiet afterglow.
What wakes you is the light. It spills through the shutters, golden and soft, casting lazy stripes across the sheets.
Jack’s already awake, propped up on one elbow, watching you like you’re some kind of sunrise. His hair’s a mess, lips kiss-bitten, and he has the nerve to look smug about it.
“Morning, Mrs. Abbot,” he says, voice rough with sleep.
“God,” you groan, burying your face in the pillow. “You’re going to say that all the time, aren’t you?”
“Yup,” he grins. “Until it’s on your driver’s license.”
You roll onto your back, stretch slowly. His eyes follow the movement like he’s hungry again.
“You’re staring,” you say.
“You’re glowing.”
“I’m sweating.”
“Still counts.”
You nudge him with your foot. He catches it, presses a kiss to your ankle, and suddenly you feel a whole lot warmer.
“You hungry?” he asks.
“Starving.”
“I’ll make breakfast.”
You raise an eyebrow. “You brought me to Italy just to feed me scrambled eggs?”
Jack swings his legs off the bed and stands—naked, unabashed. “I’m a man of many talents. But fine. Pancakes?”
“In Italy?”
He shrugs. “International pancakes.”
You laugh as he heads toward the kitchen, grabbing a pair of boxers on the way. He whistles while he moves, some Sinatra song you vaguely recognize, and your heart tugs in your chest like it still can’t quite believe this is real.
You pull on one of his shirts and pad barefoot after him. The villa is quiet, the lake just barely visible through the open patio doors, glittering in the morning sun.
Jack’s already got flour out. There’s a pan warming on the stove. You wrap your arms around him from behind, rest your cheek between his shoulder blades.
“Don’t burn them.”
“You wound me.”
“I’ve seen you try to flip a pancake. You get too cocky.”
“That’s because you heckle me,” he says, flipping the first one with unnecessary flair. “Watch and learn, Mrs. Abbot.”
You roll your eyes but sit at the table, watching him with something dangerously close to adoration. There’s something ridiculous about how seriously he takes this—like he’s proving something. Like if he makes these pancakes just right, he’ll have earned it all over again.
He sets a plate in front of you with a flourish. “Bon appétit.”
You take a bite, eyes widening. “Okay. Okay, maybe you have improved.”
Jack smirks, sitting across from you, fork already in hand. “I’ve been practicing.”
“For this moment?”
“For this life.”
The words hit you low and deep, like a drum. You look at him—really look—and see it there: the steadiness. The certainty. He’s still Jack, but he’s… more. Softer around the edges. Not smaller, just less armored.
You reach for his hand across the table.
“I still can’t believe we’re here.”
“Me neither.”
“I don’t think I let myself imagine it,” you admit. “Not after everything.”
Jack’s expression sobers. He sets his fork down. “Can I tell you something?”
You nod.
“That night. The one when you said you needed space. I thought… I thought that was it. I thought I’d ruined my life beyond fixing.”
You squeeze his fingers.
“I let it happen,” he continues quietly. “I was so afraid of screwing it up that I stood back and watched it fall apart. It’s like—if I didn’t fight for it, I couldn’t be blamed for losing it.”
Your throat tightens. “Jack…”
He shakes his head. “But I realized it wasn’t fair. To you. Or to Beau. Or to myself, honestly. But I didn’t know how to be better then. I didn’t even know what better looked like.”
“You do now,” you whisper.
“Yeah,” he says. “Because of you.”
There’s a silence that stretches, heavy but full. Then you stand, walk around the table, and sink into his lap. He holds you like he’s anchoring himself.
“You did all the hard work, I just pushed you to do it. We’re allowed to be happy now,” you murmur into his neck.
Jack’s arms tighten. “Yeah. I don’t think I ever thanked you”
“I can think of a few ways to start showing your gratefulness”
The rest of the day unfolds like a dream.
You spend the afternoon wandering through the nearby village—stone streets, small shops, gelato for lunch. Jack insists on carrying your bag. You make fun of his touristy camera strap, and he makes fun of your obsession with ceramic bowls.
You take a million photos together, and he looks so happy—so open—that you save one immediately as your phone background.
When you get back, you read on the balcony while he naps on the couch, one arm flung dramatically over his eyes like a romance novel hero. You don’t even wake him when he starts to snore.
By evening, you’re tangled again in bed, warm skin against warm skin, and Jack is tracing his name on your thigh with his fingertip.
“You know what I was thinking?” he says, voice low.
“Mm?”
“That I want to take you everywhere. That we should do a honeymoon part two, with Beau. Paris. Or Morocco. Or Tokyo. Somewhere Beau can try weird candy and yell at me in public without getting in trouble.”
You laugh. “He already does that.”
“True. But we could do it under the guise of cultural education.”
You turn to face him. “You really want to travel?”
“I want to do anything that keeps us feeling like this,” he says. “Like we’re not just surviving.”
You study him. The honesty. The hope.
“Then let’s make it a plan,” you say. “Once a year. Somewhere new.”
Jack’s smile softens. “Yeah?”
“Yeah.”
“Alright. Deal. Annual Abbot Adventures.”
“Trademark pending.”
“You, me, a six-year-old with a suitcase full of Legos. What could go wrong?”
You laugh, leaning in to kiss him. “Everything.”
“Exactly,” he grins. “Perfect family vacation.”
Later, after you’ve both showered, after he’s poured you a glass of wine and rubbed your feet and claimed it was “medically necessary to assess swelling from travel,” you’re curled together in bed with the windows open to the night air.
Jack’s arm is around you, fingers resting on your stomach again. Always that same spot. Like he’s waiting. Or willing.
You place your hand over his.
“You really want another?” you ask, voice soft.
“I want whatever you want,” he says.
You don’t respond right away, “You’d be a great girl dad.”
He snorts. “God help me if she’s anything like you.”
“Smart, stubborn, charming?”
“Dangerous,” he says. “too smart, perfect.”
You smile. “You’re already soft. You’d fold the second she looked at you.”
“Don’t tell Beau.”
You laugh, and the sound is easy. Real. Everything feels easy tonight.
And it hits you again—like it’s the first time.
You’re married. To him.

i write things i go oh gross and then i decide to post anyways. this is just a little story about jack helping his wife the first time she nurses their baby.
jack abbot x reader
warning: talk of birth, breast feeding, feelings
the calm after the storm is always the most beautiful.
at least that’s what jack is thinking after watching his wife bring his daughter into the world. it had been a long but uneventful labour, the two of you deciding to do most of it at home all of yesterday before finally heading to ptmc labour and delivery to get ready to meet your baby girl. from there it was still a lot of work for you and it only made jack so damn proud of you.
now he gets to reap the rewards of all of your hard work.
the mommy blogs all over that he tried to stray you away from called this golden hour. you have both been checked over, cleaned up and everyone has left you alone for skin to skin between you and your new bundle of joy.
jack can’t keep his eyes off of his girls. he already can’t believe how good of a mom you are and he says as much out loud to you.
“shes literally just laying there babe, im a mattress for her at this point” you give him a tired smile. on your chest your baby makes a gurgle and starts to stir. you look up to jack with slightly panicked eyes. he smiles at you to calm the anxiety, placing a hand on the top of your head brushing his thumb along your temple to ground you. “relax sweetheart, i think she’s rooting around for something to eat.” you nod “oh, so this is normal then” looking to jack for reassurance. he bites back his smile thinking about how cute you are - he knows that you know the answer to this but after a long couple of days and you coming down from your adrenaline high he just knows he has to comfort you “absolutely normal. the nurse said to ring the bell if she started doing that so she could help get a proper latch” jack leans to press the button when you catch his hand.
“i know you read absolutely every medical journal to do with all things baby and mother the past nine months. and i know this isn’t usually your day to day trauma medicine but you don’t think you can help me with the latch? not to be selfish here but i’m really enjoying us being in our own bubble right now.”
jack squeezes your hand, he’s feeling like the tears he shed when your little girl first entered the world are bubbling up again, just so in love with you and so honoured that you trust him and his help with this first. his voice is a bit raw when he answers. “not selfish at all. of course i can if that is what you want” you nod at him and smile. “please?”
from there he works to help get you into a position that is comfortable to you. he’s now sitting on the bed beside you with one arm behind you to brace himself and another helping guide your baby where she needs to be. she latches suspiciously easy so he’s following up with you. “does that feel okay for you? are you feeling any pain?” he’s looking at your face for any sign of discomfort.
“no this feels okay. definitely weird but it’s not uncomfortable.” jack relaxes at that a little, thinking he was going to get up from the bed to give you space when you beat him to that decision by leaning your head on his shoulder. jack gets a bit more comfortable beside you and kisses the top of your head and whispers various sweet nothings. “you’re perfect, thank you, i love you so much” he murmurs into your hair. he grazes a finger down his baby girl’s cheek and the three of you continue to bask in the calm after the storm, knowing that there is many more storms to come. but you will all be able to weather them together.

Together: Jack Abbot x Reader x Michael "Robby" Robinavitch
Tumblr media
Tagging: @kmc1989
Just because it's my birthday and it's been a while since I've played with a throuple.
Summary: Jack comes home to find Robby in the kitchen and you sleeping the morning away.
Tumblr media
It’s late when Jack gets in, or early depending on how you look at it. The morning sun is starting to filter in through the blinds and he can already hear Robby ambling about the kitchen as he hangs up his jacket on the coat stand by the door.
His footsteps are quiet as he pads towards the doorway, he lingers for a second watching the other man as he sets out three mugs, one for each of the people he loves. He’s wearing his faded Penguins t-shirt this morning, the one you usually like to sleep in. The blue is faded and the fabric pilled but it still looks like a million dollars clinging to his form like a second skin.
“Sleeping beauty still resting?” He asks as he pushes off the door frame. His palm comes to rest on Robby’s lower back, thumb rubbing a soothing circle to alleviate some of the tension the other man’s carrying in those broad shoulders of his.
“Yeah.” Robby responds, spooning in the decaf into Jack’s Bob Dylan mug. “It was a tough one for her last night, the smoke was still clinging to her skin when she got in.”
This is the problem with falling in love with a firefighter, they have an entire bathroom full of expensive products that help get rid of all the hazardous shit you end up coming into contact with. The good smelling stuff costs an arm and leg but their girl, she’s worth every penny. He knows that Robby would have taken good care of you when you stumbled through that door. His cock twitches in his combat pants as he imagines the two of you in the shower, Robby washing the soot from your hair as you made that contented little noise of yours.
He doesn’t remember the last time he showered with you or the last time he braided your hair.
“She’s got a shift in a couple of hours if you wanna go wake her up.” Robby informs him, his lips brushing over Jack’s temple. “She’s covering for Casey so the three of us can take that trip to the cabin next weekend.”
“Christ that can’t come quickly enough.” Jack murmurs, his cheek coming to rest on Robby’s shoulder, his arm encircling his waist, giving him a squeeze. “I want nothing more than three uninterrupted days with the two of you, fucking in front of the fire, making smores, bathing in the lake…”
That’s Jack’s idea of paradise right now. The shifts you all work, it can make it hard sometimes to catch enough of that quality time together, but when it does happen, that shit is magical.
“I’m feeling it too.” Robby assures him. “It doesn’t feel like there’s been much time to connect recently and I miss…”
He trails off, busying himself with the coffee but Jack knows what he means. There’s a sense of completion when the three of you are in the same space together, it makes his world feel full, happy. It’s been lacking over the past couple of weeks because you’ve been floating between firehouses.
“Why don’t you come with me?” Jack murmurs, his fingers threading through Robby’s as he tugs him towards the bedroom. “Why don’t we wake her up together?”

The soft orange light of a spring sunrise filtered into the room behind your eyelids, and for one hazy, wonderful moment, you drifted in the contentment that only comes from the liminal space between sleeping and waking. You were ensconced in warm blankets and the smell of earth and sunshine, and you wanted to live in that moment as long as possible.
Then, an almost gentle throbbing began behind your temple, a headache blooming to life as you slipped further into waking. Unbidden, memories from the night before flooded into your mind and you had to bite back a pained groan.
You’d had far too much to drink after work. Or, rather, you’d had too many beers for how exhausted you’d been after your particularly long and terrible shift. But you’d been riding high on surviving the day from hell, and it had been a pleasantly warm evening. And Dr. Jack Abbot had been there.
It had felt like some kind of small miracle—to get to share a couple drinks with the med students, doctors and nurses in the park across the street from the hospital. You hadn’t been the only one laughing too loudly, as if grasping onto the relief of making it through the day, because the alternative was sinking into the darkness.
You’d known that if you’d gone home and dragged yourself into your cold, lifeless apartment that you never had time or energy to decorate, you’d have ended up crying yourself to sleep. Instead, you’d accepted the invitation from your attending, Dr. Michael Robinavitch—Dr. Robby—and joined the others for a drink.
The amber glow of the lamplights lining the paths of the park had been welcoming beacons, and you’d felt the weight of the world slowly slip from your shoulders as you accepted a can of beer, letting the conversation flow around you. As everyone talked, sharing stories from the day, things hadn’t seemed so bleak.
So you’d lingered in the park long after you should’ve gone home, drinking far more than you should’ve considering how exhausted you were, and letting your eyes drift to Dr. Jack Abbot far more often than they should’ve. You couldn’t help it, though. You’d been drawn to the night shift attending ever since you met him at the start of your first day shift.
You were Dr. Robby’s resident, and he was a capable mentor—firm when he needed to be, and kind when you needed it. You’d gained a lot working with Dr. Robby on the day shift, and you’d become a much better doctor learning from him and everyone else in the ER.
Yet you couldn’t help but be intrigued by Dr. Jack Abbot. You’d always admired the older, silver-haired doctor, the way he carried himself, coming in as your shift was ending and taking over easily. You always knew your patients were in good hands when you gave them over to Dr. Abbot.
He was so competent and capable, and always so calm, even on the busiest nights in the ER. He was like a rock in the middle of a raging, tumultuous storm. Strong and steady. Safe.
And you wanted to climb Dr. Jack Abbot like a tree, to live in his strong and steady embrace, to allow his presence to keep you safe and sane. You wanted him to be your safe harbor—and to be his, too. You wanted to be the person he’d come home to and slip into bed with, and trust to keep him safe and sane.
In the park, under the amber lamplights, your thoughts had drifted to the idea of sliding into bed with Dr. Jack Abbot, curling your body around his beneath warm blankets, and sleeping the entire day away as you lay entwined together. You imagined waking up together, warm skin and gentle hands, soft kisses giving way to something more…
You hadn’t realized you were staring until light brown eyes caught yours and you’d startled back into the moment, heat rising up your neck and blooming in your cheeks. You’d known you should look away, but you hadn’t been able to, not with the electric tension thrumming between the two of you like a livewire.
Dr. Jack Abbot was as calm as ever, holding your gaze for a long moment.
His eyes were dark and inscrutable in the dim light of the park, but you noticed a glint in his gaze that made the breath catch in your throat. There was something in his eyes, something like wanting, which had your heart beating harder against your sternum and warmth pulsing between your thighs.
Then he’d tipped his can of beer toward you and dipped his head, giving you a nod while a smirk flickered at the edges of his mouth. Something in you had fluttered, low in your belly, and you’d wanted to squirm. You’d wanted to throw yourself at him, hold his face in your hands and kiss him until you were both panting and needy.
Instead you’d looked away and taken a sip of your beer, wondering if you’d imagined the warmth and hunger hidden deep in his gaze. You’d told yourself it must’ve been a trick of the dark amber light, the result of too much exhaustion, too much beer, and too many dirty thoughts about Dr. Jack Abbot.
The night had gone on, time unspooling slowly and leisurely the way it never did in the ER, and you’d drifted along on the current of conversation ebbing and flowing around you.
You’d tried not to look back at Dr. Abbot too often, but couldn’t help yourself. More often than not, though, you found him already looking at you, that ghost of a smile on his face and that look in his eye that had you questioning your sanity.
At some point, you’d ended up on a bench between Dr. Robby and Dr. Abbot, listening as the men commended the work you’d done in the ER that evening. Their words of praise had flitted in one ear and out the other, even as you nodded along like you were paying close attention.
The smile on your face had everything to do with their praise, and nothing to do with Dr. Abbot’s warmth seeping into your side—at least, that’s what you’d told yourself.
Your memories got hazier from there. You remembered your cheek falling against Dr. Abbot’s shoulder, and staying there as your eyes slid closed; deft fingers gently prying the half-empty can from your hands; the smell of beer and something earthy, like moss; the deep rumbling of Dr. Robby and Dr. Abbot’s voices as they talked over your head.
You hadn’t blacked out—you hadn’t had that much to drink—but the rest of the evening was too hazy to make out in your mind. You’d been so tired from working a 15-hour shift, and the alchohol had only exacerbated your exhaustion, leaving you to fall asleep on Dr. Abbot’s shoulder.
You remembered breathing in the smell of him, an earthy scent that reminded you of hiking in the woods on a bright, sunny day. It was the same scent you were surrounded by in the morning light, your eyes still stubbornly closed as a headache throbbed behind your temple.
Rolling over and pressing your face into your pillow, you took a deep breath. The fabric smelled so much like Dr. Jack Abbot that it made your head spin with confusion.
Even as your mind reeled, your body responded to the scent of him, the memory of his caramel brown eyes. You could perfectly picture the way his freckled arms flexed when he crossed them, his t-shirt sleeves hugging his biceps lovingly—the way you wanted to.
Heat cascaded gently down from the crown of your head, coasting down your spine and pooling between your thighs. Even with the slight edge of a hangover at the periphery of your mind, you couldn’t help the way your body yearned for the ER’s night shift attending, wanting him so badly it ached.
Your heart and your body wanted Dr. Jack Abbot. You wanted the older doctor who could be your rock, your light in the darkness, your safe harbor. And neither your heart nor your body would settle for anything less.
Your fingers were just beginning to slip down your stomach, trailing toward the needy, throbbing place between your thighs, when the soft click of a door opening sounded beyond the bed. Your eyes flew open for the first time that morning and, for one disorienting moment, you had no idea where you were.
The orange light of dawn was familiar enough, but the bedsheets and pillows looked nothing like your own. Flipping onto your back and sitting up quickly, you ignored the annoying pang of your headache to peer toward the door.
A sigh of relief gusted from your lips when you found Dr. Jack Abbot framed in the doorway, his brow creased with concern as he raked his eyes over you, as if checking for injury or illness.
You took the moment to look around the room, taking in the comfortable, masculine decor. Warm wooden furniture occupied the space, with plants positioned around the room in places that you were sure got the most light. A thriving monstera sat in a pot beside the dresser, a goldfish in a glass bowl on top of the wooden ledge.
On the floor next to the open door, there was a camouflage backpack, the only thing that appeared to be out of place. You recognized that backpack as the one Dr. Abbot always wore on his way into work.
Suddenly, your sleep hazy brain caught up and you realized you were in Dr. Abbot’s apartment—you were in his bedroom. In his bed.
The soft sheets of Dr. Abbot’s bed slid against your bare legs as you brought them up to your chest, his warm, orange duvet draped around your waist. It was the same color as the sunrise that lay beyond the windows, which were half covered in blackout curtains, like he wasn’t sure which way you’d prefer them.
It was all—all of it—almost too much for your mind to process. The headache behind your temples pounded a little harder as your body caught up to your sudden change of position, and you winced.
The expression of pain on your face seemed to spur Dr. Abbot into moving.
“You’re up,” he said, his voice low and soft like he was trying not to startle you. He padded to the bedside table beside you and set down a glass of water. “Do you remember how you got here?” he asked in that same tone, which you recognized as the one he used as patients.
You frowned as you watched Dr. Abbot open a bottle of aspirin and shake two pills into his hand. You tried to think of an answer that didn’t make you seem like a silly lightweight of a resident as you plucked the medecine from his palm when he held it out to you.
A shiver raced down your spine when your fingertips brushed Dr. Abbot’s warm, calloused skin, delightful tingles dancing along your nerves. You attempted to hide your reaction in a shake of your head, answering his question silently. But you couldn’t hide the way your shoulders trembled, so you busied yourself with taking the pills.
Thankfully, your hand was steady as you reached for the glass on the bedside table and swallowed the aspirin with a gulp of water. The cool water felt like salvation to your parched throat, and you ended up drinking the whole glass before you could even think to stop yourself.
When you were done, your found Dr. Abbot watching you, a hint of a pleased smile in the twist of his lips and pride in the glint of his gaze. You had the wild thought that if he looked at all his patients that way, you understood why his satisfaction scores were so high.
He took the glass from you, his fingers brushing against yours, the movement feeling more deliberate than before. You were grateful when he turned away to set the glass down, because your shoulders trembled with another shiver at the electricity in his light touch.
“You fell asleep in the park,” Dr. Abbot explained in a voice that was endlessly patient and calm as he set the glass down. You noticed your phone beside it on the bedside table, plugged in and charging. “You were so exhausted, we couldn’t send you home on your own. My place was closest.”
Dr. Abbot straightened as he gave his explanation, arms crossing over his chest and staring down at you in a way that made you squirm. He didn’t look disappointed or disapproving, just concerned. And the knowledge that he cared enough to be concerned sent your heart pitter-pattering inside your ribcage.
“Thanks for taking care of me, Dr. Abbot,” you murmured, dropping your gaze to your fingers, which were twisting in the blanket on your lap. “Yesterday was…difficult.”
“Jack, please,” he said, his voice almost imperceptibly softer.
Your eyes flicked up to him, looking at the silver-haired doctor from under your lashes. His smile was wry and your belly gave a happy little swoop—and that was before you heard his next words.
“You’re in my bed, you don’t need to be so formal.”
It was clear that he meant his words as a teasing kind of joke, but they only succeeded in reminding you that you’d woken up in his bed. Alone. Lamentably alone. The warmth between your thighs stoked higher, until his words fully penetrated your mind.
Your gaze drifted to the other side of the bed, which was still made with military precision. It was clear he hadn’t slept there, and you realized that meant he must’ve slept somewhere else…
“Oh god, I’m so sorry for kicking you out of your bed,” you rushed to say, looking back to Jack with wide eyes. “Where did you sleep?”
“I got a couple hours on the couch,” he answered, a little bashfully. He seemed eager to move on from the subject as he shifted his weight from one foot to the other. “You should get some more rest,” he said, unfurling his arms from his chest and reaching for your empty water glass. “Your scrubs are in the wash with mine, they should be done in a bit.”
A memory from the night before surfaced in your mind: Jack standing with his back to you as you swayed on your feet and stripped out of your scrubs—leaving you in only a tank top, bra and panties.
You’d removed your bra and left everything in a heap on the floor before dragging yourself under the covers of his bed, snuggling deep into their warmth and his comforting scent. You were asleep before you’d even heard Jack turn around.
Not only had Dr. Jack Abbot taken you to his home so you would be safe, given up his bed so you’d have somewhere comfortable to sleep, but he was washing your scrubs for you.
There was something about the domesticity of it that pricked at your heart. You could so easily imagine throwing your dirty scrubs into the laundry with a load of Jack’s, washing them together, working side by side to put them away in the room you shared.
You yearned for the life you pictured—and you wanted it with Dr. Jack Abbot.
Before you could think about what you were doing, your hand darted out. Your fingers wrapped around Jack’s wrist as he reached for the water glass on the bedside table. You could feel his pulse beneath your fingertips, strong and steady, if a little fast.
“Stay with me.” You hated how small you sounded, the desperate pleading in your voice, but your fingers wouldn’t let go. Instead, you squeezed his wrist tighter. “Please, Jack.”
For a long moment, long enough that you began to think he’d deny you, Jack just stood there. Half hunched over, his hand reaching past you, he stood and looked at you. His eyes stared deep into yours, his brows pulled together over his light brown gaze.
“Are you sure?”
The question was rough and raspy, like he’d dredged the words up from the very depths of his soul. His eyes were bright and intense as he stared at you, his gaze searching your face for any hesitation.
The sound of his voice and the weight of his stare sent your heart fluttering, and your thighs squirmed beneath the blankets of his bed. But you weren’t uncomfortable, only eager. You were excited that he hadn’t brushed you off and denied you outright.
“I’m sure,” you said, nodding your head for good measure as you began sliding toward the center of the bed, tugging on Jack’s wrist. “I want you to stay with me. Please.”
Jack stared into your eyes for a beat longer, then nodded his head. He flipped his hand around in your fingers and squeezed your wrist before pulling away and giving you his back.
You watched the muscles shift and move beneath the white t-shirt Jack wore across his broad shoulders while his hands undid the button and fly of his dark cargo pants. Before your mind could wrap around what he was doing, he was pushing them down, revealing so much more of his pale, freckled skin below the edge of his navy boxer briefs.
Jack shucked off his pants and sat down on the corner of the bed, removing his prosthetic and massaging his leg for a moment while you watched unabashedly, unable to resist the opportunity to look your fill of the doctor you’d thought about for ages.
You wanted to press yourself against his broad back and wrap your arms around him, clinging to his warmth and burying your face between his shoulder blades. You wanted to hold him and take comfort in him, you wanted to be connected to him.
Looking over his shoulder and breaking you from your thoughts, Jack caught your eye and you could see the question in his gaze. His quirked eyebrows were asking again if you were certain you wanted him to join you.
A smile curled the corners of your mouth and instead of answering him with words, you flipped down the corner of the blankets in a clear invitation. He held your gaze for another moment, but when you remained steady and smiling, he pushed himself up and slipped between the sheets.
Immediately, you felt his warmth and you let out a happy little sound while he settled on his back against the pillows—the same ones you’d pressed your face into after you’d woken up. You waited until he’d gotten comfortable, his gaze finding yours.
His light brown eyes, looking like warm caramel in the soft, tangerine light of morning, were a wondrous sight. It was a miracle, the way he looked at you in that moment, letting you see the hesitant hope in his eyes.
Slowly, as if seeking permission with every tiny movement, you slid closer to him. With a small, flickering smile, he lifted his arm, making space for you, and you slipped into it delightedly, making another happy sound.
Your cheek lay pillowed on Jack’s chest, the soft curves of your body pressing into his side. Without questioning the impulse, you slid your leg over Jack’s, hooking it around his thigh and shifting even closer, until you were practically plastered to his body.
Contentment settled heavily around your shoulders, and you took a deep breath, letting Jack’s earthy, sunshiny scent fill your senses and comfort you. As you exhaled, your body softened and you snuggled deeper into the older doctor’s chest.
Jack’s arm wrapped around your shoulders, his fingers settling on the bare skin of your arm, and you made another delighted noise. His fingertips trailed lazily up and down your arm, like he was learning the softness of your skin, and he made a rumble in his chest that sounded content.
“Are you comfortable?” he asked, his voice even deeper and raspier than you’d ever heard it.
The tenor of Jack’s voice sent little sparks of desire dancing down your spine to settle between your thighs. He wasn’t using the voice he used on his patients anymore, and you couldn’t be happier that you were seeing a new side to him, one you suspected few ever got to see.
“Mhm, sooo comfortable,” you mumbled, hiding an elated grin in his chest.
It was true, you’d never been more comfortable, but you couldn’t seem to ignore the restless need in your body. You squirmed a little against Jack’s side, like you were trying to find an even better position, and all the while enjoying the feeling of his thigh pressing between your legs.
A soft, bitten-off whine squeezed from your throat and you shifted even closer to the older doctor, needing more of him pressed against more of you.
“Jack,” you whimpered, your fingers fisting in his cotton t-shirt while your hips writhed against his side, your body searching for something you couldn’t quite grasp.
“You need something, angel?” Jack asked, a teasing lilt in his voice. When you lifted your head to pout at him, his eyes were hooded, and his mouth was curved into a knowing smirk. “You need some help before you can settle down and sleep?”
The hint of patronizing teasing in his tone was like a drug, making your mind go hazy and soft while your body melted in his strong arms. Your lashes fluttered as you fought to keep your eyes open, biting your lip while heat flooded your cheeks.
You didn’t trust your voice, so you nodded in answer to Jack’s question.
Jack’s eyes dipped to your mouth, the warmth in your face cascading down your body until it settled heavily between your thighs. You could feel yourself growing damp, your nipples hardening and pressing against the thin fabric of your tank top.
But all you could do was stare at Jack’s mouth, framed by grizzled cheeks and freckled skin. How many times had you thought about kissing that mouth? Too many times to count. And you could hardly breathe when it seemed you might finally get to make your dreams come true.
Slowly—oh, so slowly, Jack’s hand came up and cupped your jaw, his head rising from the pillows as you leaned into him at the same time. Your mouths were drawing infinitesimally closer and closer like there was some kind of magnetic pull between them.
He tilted your face until your mouths were aligned, and then your lips brushed his. Sparks zinged through your body and you sucked in a sharp breath at just that little touch, your exhale slipping from your lips in a keening, desperate sound.
Whatever was left of Jack’s self-control seemed to snap, and he crushed his mouth to yours, as if intent on drinking down that needy sound while a hungry groan rumbled in his chest. Another whimper was silenced by his mouth, and you pressed even closer, like you wanted to crawl inside his heart.
Your first kiss with Dr. Jack Abbot was hungry and greedy, with an edge of mutual adoration that made you light-headed.
Jack’s hands on your body were strong and steady, but for the slight tremor in his fingers, his mouth careful and hot as he explored yours. When his tongue licked into your heat, dragging a moan from you, he huffed a pleased sound, angling your face so he could kiss you deeper, more thoroughly.
Your hips rocked against the older doctor’s thigh as you tried to squirm closer, your arms wrapping around his shoulders and clinging to him while you whimpered into his mouth. Jack responded by trailing his hands down your back, curving around your ribs and dragging your body more on top of him.
“Oh god, Jack,” you panted, gasping for air while his mouth trailed kisses down the line of your neck. You tipped your head to the side, giving him more access as your wanton moans filled the room. “I’ve wanted this for so long, you have no idea.”
The confession spilling from your lips had Jack slowing, and even though you were practically on top of him, he eased back into the pillows so he could catch your eye. The light in the room was shifting from a honey orange to a golden yellow, but Jack’s eyes were still bright and warm like caramel as he stared into yours as he spoke.
“You are my heaven, my obsession, my prayer and bliss.”
The depth of emotion in his words, the evidence that he felt the same way you did, brought unexpected tears to your eyes and you cupped his face. His silvery stubble was rough against your palms as you surged forward, capturing his mouth in a rapturous kiss.
“You’re mine, too,” you mumbled against his mouth before pulling away to look at him so he could see the honesty in your gaze. “You’re my calm, my safe harbor, my happiness and heart.”
“Angel.”
The endearment was rough and ragged, an undercurrent of pleading in Jack’s tone as he wrapped his hand around the back of your neck and pulled you in. He kissed you harder, stealing the words freely given from your lips and locking them away in his heart—just like you’d done with his.
Emotion swirled in your chest and you nearly sobbed with need at the wet slide of Jack’s tongue between your lips, your mind going hazy as an aching need pulsed between your thighs. A desperate whine built in your throat, your hips squirming clumsily against his thigh.
Jack’s hands trailed down your spine, deviating from their path to slide beneath your tank top and curl around your ribs, his thumbs brushing the soft mounds of your tits. You huffed a needy whimper, feeling him smirk against your mouth, before his hands slid lower, his strong grip guiding your body to writhe against his thick thigh.
Your hips rocked in time with his guided movements, grinding your core against him while you whimpered into his mouth. You were so far gone in a pleasant haze of your desire, that you didn’t pay attention to what you were saying when you whined, “Daddy, please.”
There was the briefest stutter in Jack’s movements, and then his hands gripped you tighter, his thigh pressing deeper between your legs. Against your lips, his mouth curved into an indulgent smirk.
“Please what, angel? Tell daddy what you need.”
The patronizing teasing tone had slipped back into his voice, and it made your core throb between your thighs, a whimper escaping your lips before you could bite it back. It had been a slip of the tongue that you’d called him daddy, but to hear it echoed in his deep, raspy voice was another thing entirely. It was exactly what you needed.
Your fingers gripped his shirt tighter, your body squirming harder in his hands, rolling your hips and grinding against his thigh while you finally responded to his command.
“Need you,” you huffed, as if the answer was obvious.
A gruff chuckle rumbled in Jack’s chest and his hand slid up your back, thumb skimming the curve of your breast so teasingly, your body chased his touch. Arching your spine, you pushed your tits against his chest, but Jack’s hand kept moving. His calloused palm followed the line of your arm until his fingers wrapped loosely around your wrist.
Gently, he moved your hand down his front, over his soft belly, until your palm settled against the twitching bulge in his boxer briefs. He felt so thick and heavy already, even though he wasn’t fully hard yet.
“This is what you do to me, angel,” he rasped, breath ghosting over your cheek, his mouth moving against the corner of your lips. “You have me—any time, any way you want.”
Your fingers wrapped around his girth through the soft cotton of his briefs, squeezing him gently and learning the weight of him in your hand. You stroked your palm up his length, thumb swiping over the tip and feeling the wetness of his arousal.
Jack grunted, his hips rising up off the bed to buck into your touch and the movement had his thigh flexing and pressing between your legs. You moaned into his stubbled cheek, the sound mingling with his heavy breaths as you stroked his length and rocked against him.
“Jack.” His name was a gasp for salvation, a desperate plea on your lips that had him shuddering under your touch.
“Nuh uh, angel,” Jack chided in an endlessly warm tone, his smile pressed into the corner of your mouth. “Don’t stop calling me daddy now—not when it makes me so fucking hot for you.”
“Daddy, daddy,” you babbled breathlessly into his scruffy cheek, your desire thick in your veins at the teasing command in his tone. “I need you inside me, please—please, I need you so bad,” you whined, your fingers squeezing his cock through his boxers.
“Christ, you’ve got me, angel, just take me out,” Jack rumbled, his hips rocking up against your palm while you worked his length.
Not needing more invitation than that, you reached into his boxers and pulled out his cock. He was still hardening and thickening beneath your touch, the velvety soft skin growing taut the tighter you stroked him.
Jack groaned at your pleasurable attention, and the sound went straight to the slit between your thighs, your arousal leaking into your panties. You were so drenched, you were certain he could feel it against his thigh, but when you rubbed your pussy against him, he only grunted, his cock twitching in your hand.
“Want more,” you keened against Jack’s stubbled cheek, both your heads tilted to stare down your bodies and watch your hand pump adoringly up and down his length while he grew harder beneath your touch. “Want your fat cock sinking into my needy pussy, daddy, please.”
“Fuuuck,” Jack groaned, the edge in his voice almost pained. His hips bucked off the bed as he fucked into your fist, precum beading at the tip and leaking down the side, slicking your strokes. “Keep talking like that, angel, and I’m gonna blow my load before I even get inside you.”
“But daddy, we can’t have that,” you whined teasingly, laughing softly as you turned your face and pressed a kiss to the corner of his mouth.
Then you were pulling away only long enough to shove your panties down over your ass and thighs, kicking them off into the sheets at the base of the bed. Once done, your hand wrapped around Jack’s cock again, greedy for the feel of him, loving the weight and warmth against your palm.
Sliding your leg over both of Jack’s thighs, you moved your body until you were straddling his hips, your hand guiding his cock to press between the slippery folds of your slit. Your wet pussy pressing down on the length of his thick cock, your clit bumping against the ridged veins lining the shaft, had both of you moaning.
Jack cupped your jaw and guided your face back to his, his tongue sliding along your plump lower lip and licking lovingly into your mouth. He kissed you deeply, devouring your sounds of pleasure and groaning his own satisfaction like he’d never tasted anything as sweet—and he couldn’t get enough.
His other hand slid beneath the soft cotton of your tank top, his thumb brushing over your nipple and teasing the sensitive bud until it tightened into an achy, needy peak. Heat and desire pooled between your thighs, leaking from your pussy and coating his length as you rocked against him.
You broke apart only long enough for Jack to tear off your top, tossing it somewhere in the room you didn’t see because you were too busy slanting your mouth to his and greedily kissing him again. Your lips were swollen from kissing, but you couldn’t stop, you didn’t think you’d ever get enough of him.
It felt like the opposite of standing in the calm center of a storm—your body was a riot of pleasure and sensation, desperately rocking against the man between your thighs while the bedroom around you remained undisturbed, the light shifting and glowing brighter as the sun rose outside.
And Dr. Jack Abbot was still your rock, your tether to the earth, grounding you with the rasp of his calloused hands over your soft curves, his expert fingers plucking and stroking your nipples while his hips lifted from the mattress to grind his hard cock into your cunt.
You were so wet for him, so empty and aching, your pussy pulsed against his hard length, your desire coating him from root to tip. A sob was lodged in your throat, your hips working against his thick shaft in increasingly desperate movements.
“Jack,” you cried, the sound pitiful even to your own ears. You needed him, you needed him more than you needed your next breath. And you knew he could hear it in the ragged edge of your voice as you sobbed his name.
Thankfully for you, Jack Abbot was just as much of a competent, capable man as he was a doctor. He heard the anxious wanting in your tone and knew exactly how to handle you. He stroked his hands soothingly over your ribs and down your spine, cooing soft sounds of comfort against your cheek.
“Take me inside your sweet pussy, angel,” Jack rumbled, the steel of his order softened in the honeyed warmth of his tone. “Let me feel you—need to feel your heat hugging my cock.”
“Daddy, yesss, please, can I?” you babbled, burying your face in the weathered skin of his neck. His scent was stronger there, and you huffed greedily, breathing in the smell of sunshine and earth on his skin. It filled your head with amber clouds of comfort.
“Go on, angel, you’ve got this,” Jack murmured encouragingly, the calm warmth of his voice settling around your shoulders like the coziest blanket. He pressed a kiss to the pulse at the base of your throat, sending shivers down your spine.
“Yes, daddy,” you breathed on a exhale, shifting your hips until the tip of his cock caught at the entrance of your leaking hole. Sitting up on your knees, you lifted your hips and guided his cock to line up with your pussy. Then you pressed down determinedly.
A breathy cry burst from your lips when the fat tip of Jack’s cock pushed into your tight channel. He was thicker than anyone you’d taken before, and your heart fluttered against your ribcage in panic, the devastating thought occurring to you that he might not be able to fit.
“Oh god, fuck, you’re so big, Jack, I don’t know if I can—”
“You can take me,” Jack said firmly, interrupting your panicked babbling as he sat up to face you. He caught your wobbling chin in his steady hand and guided your eyes to look at him. “You can take me, angel,” he repeated, ducking his head and looking at you with confidence and pride written in the lines of his face. “You can do this.”
The belief Jack had in you—even about something as base as taking his cock—was enough to have tears gathering in your eyes. Your lower lip quivered and instead of giving in to the spiraling thoughts about how no one else had ever believed in you the way Jack did in that moment, you surged forward and kissed him.
You kissed Jack Abbot the way you’d never kissed anyone before. You kissed him like he was your past, present and future, like he was the calm in the storm of your life. You kissed him like he was your safe harbor, the steady dock under your feet and the man who was your home.
All the while, Jack kissed you in return, meeting the fervor of your lips with an adoration that had your heart singing in your chest. With every sweep of his tongue and nip of his teeth and pull of his mouth, he exulted your existence and promised devotion for as long as you’d have him.
“Jack,” you gasped his name, wrenching your bee-stung lips from his as you pressed down further on his cock, incandescent pleasure radiating from where you were joined through the rest of your body.
“Feel so good, angel,” Jack rasped, kissing his way down the curve of your throat and past your collarbone. His mouth left goose bumps in its wake as he trailed kisses down to your chest. “More, angel, you can take more.”
Jack’s words were muffled in the plush curves of your tits, cupped in his big, strong hands. His head ducked down until his tongue was lapping at their tightened peaks, torturing the sensitive buds while your head tipped back and you moaned. He sucked one of your soft tits into his mouth, tongue swirling teasingly around your nipple.
Your back bowed and you thrust your chest into Jack’s face, your fingers sliding into his curly silver hair and clutching his head tight. A cry of pleasure tumbled from your lips, the sound devolving into a filthy moan as you sank down on his cock, taking half of him inside you.
“God, daddy, you’re breaking me in half,” you whined, your hips writhing in his lap, lifting up and pushing back down for more of the stinging stretch. The pleasure bordered on pain, but it felt so good, you couldn’t get enough, pressing even further down on his hard cock.
Jack chuckled, pulling away from your chest with an obscene wet sound, your tit falling from his mouth while he looked up at you. His brown eyes were sparkling with mischief in the bright daylight.
“You love it, don’t you, angel?” Jack teased, in the warm, patronizing tone that sent your belly swooping. “You love the feeling of my fat cock sinking deep into your pretty cunt, splitting you open and spreading you so wide, huh?”
The filthy words went straight to your pussy, your tight hole pulsing around Jack’s hard shaft while you nodded your agreement. “Yuh huh, I love it, daddy, it’s sooo good,” you babbled, your fingers idly twisting in Jack’s hair as you clung to him and pressed your hips down on his thick length.
A small grin pulled across his face and he caught your eye, wrapping his lips around your other nipple and sucking hard enough to wring a squeal from your mouth. Your body bucked on his lap, and it was only his sinewy arm around your lower back that kept you anchored on top of him.
Spreading your knees wider on the bed, you pressed down hard on Jack’s cock until you were fully seated. The full, fat length of him was buried inside you to the hilt, stretching your tight cunt and punching the breath from your lungs.
A surprised yelp slipped from your lips at the sudden, overwhelming fullness, but the sound soon dissolved into a deep, dirty moan when the slight sting gave way to scorching pleasure. Your body melted against Jack, his head lifting from your tits to take in the look of ecstasy on your face.
“There we go,” Jack rasped, one of his hands pressing to your lower back, keeping your bodies locked together and still for a moment. “That wasn’t so hard, huh?” he teased, capturing your lips in a playful, nipping kiss.
You huffed a laugh against his mouth, and shook your head good-naturedly, your arms tightening around his shoulders as you clung to your strong, steady doctor.
Jack pressed his forehead to yours, his voice lowering to deep rasp. “You’re taking me so good, angel—you’re such a good girl.” He brushed a kiss to the apple of your cheek, and it was only then that you realized you were smiling, pleased by his praise. “Are you ok, does it feel good?”
“Mm, yes, daddy,” you murmured, sinking into the feeling of having Jack’s thick cock seated inside you, pleasure pulsing from where you were joined. “Feel so good filled up with your cock—you fill me up so good, I wanna stay right here forever.”
Your mumbled words were half lost to a moan as you rocked your hips gently, feeling his shaft drag ever so gently against your inner walls. It was intense and wonderful and felt so good, you couldn’t stop.
Jack’s hands fell to your hips, and he gripped your soft curves, helping you grind down on him.
“That’s it, just like that,” he urged, his own hips rolling beneath yours, bringing your bodies together in a delicious push and pull that wrenched a pleasured grunt from him. “Fuck, angel, you’re so tight and you feel so fucking good—so wet and warm. You’re making daddy feel so good.”
“Daddy, daddy, daddy,” you chanted, lips parted and breaths panting against Jack’s grizzled cheeks as you bounced on his lap. Still, you wanted more, and you knew Jack would give it to you, all you had to do was ask. “Will you suck on my tits, daddy, please?”
“Fuck, of course, angel,” Jack rumbled in response, his head ducking down, mouth latching onto a nipple and sucking until your hips gave a reflexive kick. “Ya like it when daddy sucks on your tits, angel? Your perfect fucking tits.”
His words were muttered, almost like he was talking to himself, and he didn’t wait for an answer before burying his face in your soft mounds. His lips and tongue worshiped your tits, showing you just how much he adored your body.
“Yes, yes, daddy, I love it,” you cried, rocking your hips faster, rolling them in a steady rhythm that had your clit grinding against the base of him. The pleasure was building fast in your core, until you were suddenly on the precipice. “Please, Jack, ‘m so close.”
 “Come on my cock, angel—fuck, I wanna feel you clench around my fat cock while you’re screaming my name,” Jack rambled in between wet, suckling kisses to your soft flesh. His hands cupped your tits, thumbs stroking maddeningly over your nipples before pinching them roughly. “C’mon angel, give it to me, show me what a good girl you are and come for me.”
“Jack—JACK!”
His words and his cock and his hands and his perfect mouth sent you tumbling over the edge of your release, making you come on his cock. Your hips worked furiously as pleasure crashed over you in waves, helpless moans and cries spilling from your lips while Jack held you tight and thrust into you from below.
He was hot and hard and everywhere, his thick cock still deep inside you, his arms wrapped around you, his chest and belly pressed against your soft curves. He was the calm in the center of the storm that was your release, and he carried you through it, whispering words of praise in your ear.
You were still coming down from the height of your pleasure when Jack rolled you onto your back, his hips sliding between your thighs and thrusting his cock deep into you. It felt so good that you moaned loudly, your arms and legs wrapping around Jack and holding him as he fucked you, chasing his release.
“You’re such a good girl, angel, taking me so well and coming on my cock like such a pretty slut. Fuck, I’ve never seen anything as beautiful as you, never felt anything as perfect. You’re perfect, angel, so fucking perfect—fuck.”
Jack bit off a groan and pulled his cock from your tight cunt. He stroked himself to completion, his come spilling across your belly and mound between your thighs while you watched pleasure contort his face.
He let out a fierce grunt, his shoulders shaking and arms shuddering as he hunched over your body. The hand not wrapped around his cock was gripping your thigh tightly—like, for once, you were his rock, his anchor tethering him to earth.
Bathed in the bright golden light of morning filtering into his bedroom, he looked magnificent, and you couldn’t help yourself. You grabbed Jack’s face and pulled him down for a kiss, tasting the pleasure from his tongue.
His knuckles brushed your bare skin, more come leaking from the tip of his cock and onto your belly. He was covering you in ropes of his come, but you didn’t care, not when his lips were moving against yours in a sensual slide, his tongue slipping possessively into your mouth and groaning his pleasure.
With a final pull on his cock and one last kiss, Jack rolled off you, collapsing onto his back and throwing an arm over his eyes while his chest heaved. He was still wearing his t-shirt and you pouted at it.
Still gasping for your own breaths, you slipped your hand beneath the hem of Jack’s shirt and raked your nails through the hair dusting his belly. He let out a shuddering breath, his cock twitching as another drop of come leaked from the tip of his softening length, seeping into the cotton shirt.
If you weren’t so limp and sated—and you weren’t afraid of making a mess of Jack’s bed with the come slowly drying on your skin—you would’ve leaned over and licked him clean. But that could wait for another time, when you both weren’t so tired.
Jack settled a hand on the back of yours, stilling your fingers where they were softly stroking his belly and giving them an affectionate squeeze.
After a few moments of catching your breath together, he heaved himself up and reached an arm over his shoulders to yank off his shirt. He rolled onto his side and used the soft shirt to clean you up while you giggled happily.
“You good, angel?” Jack asked, his face hovering above yours, dark caramel eyes searching your expression for anything amiss.
A soft smile curved your mouth and you reached up to cup Jack’s grizzled cheeks, thumbs stroking over his skin. “I’m good,” you murmured, lifting up and pressing a sweet kiss to his mouth. “Thanks for pulling out—I can’t believe I forgot to tell you to use a condom.”
Jack made a disapproving sound in the back of his throat, but it was softened by the teasing smile on his face. “Not very responsible of you, doctor,” he said in a deep, playful rasp that had you laughing.
“Don’t act like you didn’t forget, too, Dr. Abbot,” you retorted, batting good-naturedly at his shoulder. He laughed along with you before sitting up and moving to the edge of the bed.
“Do you need anything while I’m up?” he asked, putting on his prosthetic then standing and tossing his soiled shirt into the laundry. He paused at the foot of the bed to wait for your answer.
Lifting your arms above your head, you stretched languidly in the warm sheets of Dr. Jack Abbot’s bed, smiling like the cat that got the cream as you reveled in the feeling of him watching you unabashedly.
It felt like warm, orange flames of flickering heat licking at your skin, his eyes bright and intense in the morning light as they trailed over every inch of your bare skin and naked curves. That adoration you’d felt in his arms was clear in the gleam of his eye and the slightly awed smile on his face.
“I could use some more water,” you finally answered, exhaling deeply as you relaxed and settled into the bed. You were eager for him to return so he’d wrap you back up in his arms, and you could snuggle together.
“You got it,” he rasped, his throat bobbing as he swallowed. Then he wrenched his eyes away from you and seemed to force himself to walk out of the room.
While he was gone, you got up and went to the bathroom, cleaning yourself up a little better. When you were washing your hands, you heard a knock on the door before it opened a crack.
“Got you a shirt if you want something to wear,” Jack said, opening the door only enough for his arm to slip in. He hung a t-shirt on the hook by the door and then closed it again.
With a smile, you dried your hands and slid the soft cotton shirt over your head. It was plain white like the one he’d had on earlier, but clean, and it smelled like his earthy, sunshiny scent. You took a deep breath of the fabric, your nipples tightening and pushing against the fabric as warm pleasure flooded you down to your toes.
But then you remembered the man himself was waiting for you, and you eagerly exited the bathroom, finding Jack reclined against the pillows on his bed. He was sipping a glass of water, another full glass on the bedside table for you. You picked it up and drank half before setting it back down and climbing into bed.
Without hesitation, Jack lifted his arm and you slid into the space next to him. The two of you settled beneath the blankets together, your head laying on Jack’s chest, his arm wrapped around your shoulders. Your fingers idly traced the veins and freckles of his other arm, brushing through the hair dusted across his skin.
Outside, the soft, suffused orange light of dawn had given way to the bright, blinding light of morning. The sun was still climbing higher in the sky, but you and Jack needed rest.
So your bodies relaxed together, laying entwined in each other’s arms. You drifted to sleep in the calm, still bedroom while the rest of Pittsburgh carried on in the world beyond.
From that day on, Dr. Jack Abbot was your rock, your calm in the storm, the man whose arms were your home. He was your safe harbor. And you were his.

Veteran, Doctor, Wedding Date
Never in my life have I finished a sex scene in writing. This fandom has broken me. There is a second part in the works for the actual wedding, because I am weak willed when it comes to him.

Summary: Weddings take up a lot of time, especially when you're dating the best man. Part 2 is here
Word Count: 4k
Tumblr media
It had been too many years since Jack had been to a wedding. Let alone asked to be in a wedding party, but when one of your best friends asks you to be his best man you can’t really say no. Even harder when said friend oh so politely reminded him that he could bring his cute new girlfriend.
So here he was, sitting on the couch waiting for you to get home. The TV was on but he wasn’t really watching it. Anticipation weighed on him. He knew first hand that people got weird about weddings. There was an unspoken weight around them, and he hadn’t asked anyone to be his date to anything in what felt like an eternity.
He still managed to fall asleep on the couch, and was startled awake when he heard the familiar click of the lock. Snapping his head up to a dimly lit living room, bathed in the flickering light of the TV. Pushing himself more upright, the fog of sleep still fighting to pull him back under.
With a groan he scrubbed his face, forcing himself to wake up, so you could have this conversation. Watching you kick your shoes off, braced against the door to avoid overbalancing. “Did you make it upstairs at all?” You were still facing away from him but he could hear the smile in your voice.
“I did, thank you.” His mock indignation getting a laugh from you, making your way over to throw yourself down on the opposite end of the couch, stretching out with a continent sigh.
“What’s on your mind?” You tapped his leg with a toe, leaning up to get a better look at him. “You’re burning a hole in the wall.”
“I was asked to be in a wedding later this year.” Jack turned himself on the couch to face you “And, I was wondering if you would be my date.”
He knew the answer before you even opened your mouth to speak. Your eyes lit up as you pushed yourself the rest of the way into a sitting position. The way you beamed at him, practically glowing in the low light of the room. “Of course I will.” Your excitement was hardly concealed.
You leaned forward kneeling on the couch, braced on his shoulder, to peck him on the cheek before leaning in for a lingering kiss. His head tilted back slightly to meet your lips. A hand wrapped reassuringly around your arm to keep you balanced, the other coming to rest on your hip.
You pulled away, looking down into his eyes, unable to keep the smile from your face. Watching his face soften as he took you in again. A grin slowly spreading over his own tired features. Letting you settle back on the couch beside him. An arm draped over the back of the couch, fingertips just brushing against your shoulder.
“Didn’t really have a plan if you said no. Considering my backup date would have been the groom.” You pushed him away lightly, moving yourself more than him with a scoff.
“Do you know when it is yet?” You chose to ignore his comment. ‘I’ll make sure to get some time off from work.”
“Not yet, he’s supposed to be getting a hold of me about that since it’s going to be a scheduling nightmare. I don’t know how they’re going to get by without us for a night.” His hand left the couch to run through his hair absently.
“Do you maybe want to finish this conversation after you get a nap in old man?” You pressed a kiss to his temple ignoring the look he shot you.
“You know I do a pretty decent job keeping up with you last time I checked.” It was hard to read his expression in the low lighting but you could catch the way his head tilted almost like a challenge. The faintest hint of a smirk still plastered to his face.
“You do. But have you considered I’m using you as an excuse to take a nap and get some quiet time with my boyfriend for once?” You challenged him back, trying your best to keep a straight face.
Wordlessly he hauled himself up. Then turned to offer you a hand, helping you to your feet. Once you were upstairs it didn’t take long for you to drift off, an alarm set for an hour in the future. More importantly, Jack’s arm wrapped securely around you and the steady rise and fall of his chest beneath you.
Months passed quietly, comfortably between the night he asked you to come with him. He had steadily been pulled more and more into the planning and preparation. Which meant less sleep and less time with you.
Jack still made the effort, still made sure he caught you to kiss you goodbye and was home to kiss you before work if he had to be out. But between your work schedules and the approaching wedding date you hadn’t had time for much outside a quick kiss here or there.
And it was starting to get the better of both of you.
When the time came to actually go get fitted for a suit he found you waiting for him in the bedroom, laying on the bed still only in a stolen shirt that had once been his, watching him emerge from the bathroom. He stalled in the doorway taking you in, laying on your back, your bare legs bent to let your feet plant on the bed.
 “Don't you tempt me, I can’t be late to this one.” With effort he managed to pull his focus to getting dressed, aware you were watching as he zipped up his jeans.
“I wasn’t trying to.” But he saw the way your eyes also lingered, dragging themselves over his half naked body.
“And hypothetically if you were, I’d make it up to you tonight.” He leaned over you pressing a kiss to your lips. Melting into your touch as your hands skated over the planes of his chest before looping around the back of his neck, letting you pull him in closer, his weight pressing you further into the bed. Your hand tangled in his hair as the kiss deepened. Weeks of want and frustration just below the surface as the heat between you.
Shattered by the ringing of his phone from the bathroom.
Pulling away his head hit the mattress, breathing heavily against your neck, pressing a trail kisses along your jaw before slowly pushing himself upright. Reluctantly you let him push away from you, almost aching as the warmth of his body left yours. Not missing the way he adjusted the growing bulge in his jeans before hearing his frustrated voice from the other room. “Yeah, be down in a minute.”
You sat up on the bed watching him as he pulled a shirt over his head, glancing over at you still watching him. “Not trying to be tempting?”
“Maybe a little.” You didn’t quite meet his eyes.
“Then I’ll have to see if I can’t return the favor when I get home.” He leaned down again, capturing you in another searing kiss that was unfairly short lived. “I’ll be back as soon as I can.”
You listened to the front door slam behind him. Still perched on the edge of the bed listening to the sound of wheels on pavement. It had been too long since the pair of you had been home for more than a few minutes, even on his days off it felt like he was helping with something these days.
Which was fine most of the time, but you missed him, missed finding him asleep on the couch when you got home from work. Or getting to sleep in with him on your days off, the weight of him on top of you. The way you would find yourself casually reaching out to touch him when you spread out on the couch together.
You forced yourself to get up and move, heading for the shower to at least make an effort to start the day. By the time you had made yourself a meal there was an unopened message from Jack. A mirror photo of him, half changed into formal wear. Pants unzipped and shirt unbuttoned, his face was mostly covered by the phone itself but you could see the hint of a smirk playing across his features.
You stood there, frozen for what felt like an eternity starting at it. You finally backed out to and were about to type out something when another photo started to load in. Now fully dressed, with his arm around a groomsman, like wasn’t sending you thirst traps from the dressing room. You debated not giving him the satisfaction but you were pretty sure he knew it had worked.
You reacted to the messages and asked how it was going. Saving some of your decency hopefully by not openly showing he had gotten under your skin. It took a few minutes for him to reply.
Good. Getting dinner and drinks after this but I’ll be home right after.
You started to type back a reply, scrolling back to the first photo, the too pleased expression on his hardly visible face. The fact that you almost had him before he left replaying in your head. It was hard enough making the time with your schedules and now he was so busy. And this man had the audacity to tease you like that.
If he wanted to play that game you could play that game. Phone in hand you scrambled back up the steps, an excited fluttering in your gut. There was one thing that would give you the unfair advantage, the shirt you had to stop stealing. After you had moved in you had been granted access to his old shirts. Jack insisted that he didn’t care what you stole, as long as he got it back.
But he did, he just hadn’t known it. You had dug out one of his old shirts from the army. Had picked it because of its age, it felt like a piece of him when you missed him. That morning you woke up with your alarms as usual, rolling out of bed before the sun. Half awake you had stumbled your way downstairs to make coffee as the front door swung open, the familiar sound of shoes on the hardwood letting you know Jack had made it home.
A moment later the footsteps stopped, freezing in the doorway to the kitchen behind you. The feeling of being watched buzzed in the back of your head, prompting you to turn. There he had stood, frozen, eyes focused solely on you. Suddenly feeling very naked you had turned to face him.
You had been late for work that morning, and every other morning you had mistakenly decided to wear that particular shirt to bed. As exhausted as he was when he came home he always seemed to find the energy those mornings. It had become a pattern, so much so that you had given up wearing it, almost forgotten it existed. Until now.
It took some digging to find. Buried under newer clothes, newer memories but where you had expected to find it. Embarrassingly enough the sight of the shirt alone was enough to make you feel warm. Memories associated with the way the fabric felt bunched in your hands resurfacing.
You looked around like someone would catch you undressing in your own home before changing into it. Like the man who once wore it it had softened slightly with age, still sturdy but not as stiff as it had once been. It felt like an extension of Jack, a piece of his past made tangible. Maybe that’s why you had always loved it.
You kicked your shorts off for good measure before positioning yourself in the mirror. The fabric covered just enough to make a point, the tiniest hint of bare skin showing in the reflection.
Filtering through the photos until you landed on one that was perfect. Mimicking his own smug expression, phone held to the side, making sure to capture your back in the mirror. Completely innocent on a first glance, if anyone other than Jack saw you it would seem like a sweet picture from his girl.
You hit send and retrieved the shorts, slipping them back on. Your phone dinged twice in short succession before you even had them all the way back on.
That’s evil.
I’m coming home.
You had him, but you knew that before you even sent the picture. The second the idea popped into your head you won this little battle of wills. You wanted him home, but not at the cost of something important. Something he might regret missing.
Stay, be with your friends. I’ll see you tonight.
Fine. But you’re not changing. Be home as soon as we’re done.
Battle won you settled yourself on the couch, determined to distract yourself, to make the time move faster while you waited.
Say one thing for Jack Abbot, he’s a man of his word. He got dropped off around eight, a few drinks in and had practically pushed his ride into the truck when they got to the parking lot. The flush of liquor warming him in the cool night air as he made his way inside.
You had been on his mind since he left, the weeks of pent up frustration slowly building to this moment. It took no time to spot you in your usual spot on the couch, half focusing on a movie, half looking at something on your phone. He settled heavily onto his spot on the couch, watching but not watching the TV. Far too aware that you were slowly sliding yourself closer to him.
“How was your night?” You spoke first, glancing up from your phone, finally making contact with his leg at the other end of the couch.
“Good, I'm ready to have my weekends back.” He glanced over at you, a hand resting on your shin, the pad of his thumb rubbing circles into the exposed skin.
You hummed in agreement, going back to your phone. Pretending that you weren’t aware of the way his eyes were watching you. Ignoring the slow press of his body against yours until he was pressed into your side one arm pinned beneath his weight. A hand skating over the fabric of the stolen shirt.
Holding himself over you, meeting you in a slow, desperate kiss. Groaning into your mouth when you pulled him in closer, beer still lingering on his tongue.
He pulled away to press kisses along your jaw, just catching the whispered “missed you” that escaped you with a heavy sigh.
He stilled above you for a moment, pausing before he spoke, whispering against your jaw “How much?”
You squirmed under him watching a hand slowly slide up your leg, brushing at the hem of your shorts. When you didn’t answer right away he spoke again. “Because I know how much I’ve missed you.” The faintest scratch of teeth along the shell of your ear. “Missed this.”
Heat radiating from your skin against his touch, fingers dipping breath the fabric of your shorts and inching along the soft skin of your thighs. Mouth claiming the sensitive skin just over your pulse. You could feel a twitch of a smile against your neck when a moan escaped your lips.
His free hand abandoning your thigh to instead slide beneath your shirt, thumb teasing the elastic of your bra, leaning away to watch your expression. To take in the way your breathing caught as his hand pressed into your soft skin, savoring the way you felt against him.
“I’m going to need you to work with me.” And his arm was around your shoulders, pulling you against him, rolling himself under you. With you helping he was able to mostly pull you solidly on top of him, if not a little awkwardly.
“Better.” He sighed, adjusting himself slightly beneath you. Hands wrapping around you to capture you in another kiss, more desperate than the last. His hand tangling in your hair bucking up against you chasing the fleeting friction against you.
The groan you got in response to your own desperate grind against him sent a jolt of arousal through your body, adding to the pooling heat between your legs. Your desperate movements doing nothing to relieve the ache, if anything it made your movements more desperate against him.
Jack clearly felt the same way, hands pushing down your shorts, thumbs hooking deftly in the elastic of your panties, sliding them both down your thighs, supporting you as you kicked them off entirely. Your hands travel down, fumbling with his belt for a second before managing to undo his jeans and helping him tugg them off.
He didn’t miss the way your eyes lingered on the damp patch of cloth staining his boxers. Watched as his cock twitched under your gaze. Hands pull you forwards again, pressing his clothed erection against your own soaked cunt. Still not enough but his deliberate grind pulled a broken moan from you, head falling forwards into the crook of his neck. Mindlessly chasing the sensation, grinding down against him.
“Someone’s eager.” His voice thick with need as he bucked against you again. Dragging that fucking shirt over your head, nipping at the exposed skin he could reach.
It was nowhere near enough, the drag of cloth doing little to ease the ache. Pulling away to be able to practically tear away the last of the fabric separating you. Swallowing thickly at the sight of him, settling back between his thighs.
Keeping eye contact as you leaned in, licking a hot stripe from base to tip. That earned you an exhale that was dangerously close to a growl. Jack’s eyes didn’t leave yours, pupils totally blown as he watched you take his tip slowly in your mouth. Watched you even as your eyes fluttered shut, slowly inching your way down his length. With all the restraint in the world he kept his hips still when he felt the brush of the back of your throat.
A hand brushing hair out of your face, settling at the back of your head, letting you feel the faint scrape of nails against your scalp with the swirl of your tongue and you began move, setting a pace just restrained enough to not be a tease, but not nearly enough to get him to break. Swallowing thickly around him, losing yourself in the weight of him, the increasingly desperate noises coming from above you.
Pulling away enough to meet his eyes “Who’s eager now?” Pressing a kiss to his tip before taking him to the base again. Settling into the same steady rhythm, watching him come undone under you.
“So fucking pretty. Can’t help it” It came out raw, almost unrecognizable as his voice. Still watching, eyes locked on the way your lips parted around his cock. Watching as you squirmed into the fabric beneath you, trying desperately to find your own relief.
A tug from the hand still half tangled in your hair got you to pull away with an obscene pop, slightly breathless and lips swollen. Becking you forward again, sliding backwards to sit more upright against the arm of the couch.
Those familiar hands guided you down, firm hands pressing your hips against him. Not letting you take him yet, a slow teasing thrill running through you again as he dragged between your folds. Letting up to let you set the pace, hips pressed to yours, matching your pace as you finally were able to chase away your own desperate need.
The frim press of a thumb against your clit made you almost come undone. Hips stuttering against his as preassue built at your core, back arching arching. His other hand skating up your back, skilled hands unclasping your bra in one fluid motion, another piece of clothing discarded somewhere in the dark room.
It was like you were being consumed by flame, burning hands teasing hardened nippels, rolling them lightly between practiced fingers. Another circling your clit, helping you come undone grinding against his leaking cock. Your breathy moans echoed in desperate shaky breaths beneath you. You were barely holding on, hips jerking erratically against his.
“Let go.” That was all that it took. His voice was raw and quiet, strained with need.
The building crescendo of tension snapped, stilling against him,hands braced against his chest as pleasure wracked your body, fluttering against him as you came, his name spilling from your lips like a prayer. Slumping forward, breathing hard. Your breath is almost too warm against the sweat collecting on your bodies.
Jack kissed you again, slow, tender, letting the tremors run their course against him. Completely still beneath you. Cupping your face and grounding you again as you came down from the high or your orgasam.
Pulling away, a thin line of saliva still connecting you briefly he adjusted beneath you again. He rolled against you again, a moan falling from your lips. Pushing against his chest you were disappointed to still find the cloth of his shirt, damp with sweat and very much in the way of wandering hands.
Your hand slid under the hem, sliding it up. Reaching back with the other to stroke him before taking a breath and sinking down onto him. Jack’s head falling back exhaling through his teeth as fluttering walls gripped him, pulling him in. “fuck”
You clenched around him when your hips met. Hangs tightening their grip on your hips grinding into you. Hungry eyes glued to where you met, watching as you started to move, lifting yourself to ride him.
You knew he wasn’t far from his own release. What little composure he had held onto was already cracking, his hips jerking erratically against yours. Already sensitive and moving at your own reckless pace once you adjusted, nails biting into skin. His thumb returning to circle your already over sensitive clit. Fatigue battling pleasure as heat sparked through you once again.
A pathetic whine escaped your mouth, bracing against his shoulder, almost frenzied in your movements as pleasure wound tight once more. The room falling silent other than the sound of your labored breathing. Focusing solely on chasing senestion, watching the man beneath you coming undone, jaw clenched and breathing hard as you rode him.
Your second orgasm ripped through you. Your walls spasming around him slumping forwards bonelessly onto his chest. Arms circled you, hips snapping against yours, breathing ragged in your ear.
A your name tumbling from his lips his hips stuttered against yours, finishing inside you, leaving you feeling impossibly full. You stayed like that for a minute, both breathing heavily. Still riding the high of your climax.
“Shower?” You offered, pressing a slightly breathless kiss to his forehead. He nodded wordlessly, reaching past you to offer you your discarded clothes and helping you get off him without making a mess of the fabric below you.
Waking the next morning you felt heavier than you had the past few nights. Blinking slowly you realized that you were pinned, your legs tangled with Jack’s, his arm thrown over your shoulders. The weight of him was almost alien the past week. Extra heat tangled around you along with the sheets.
Moving slowly you tried to extricate yourself, tossing and tuning would likely wake him and you were awake enough. You managed to free your legs from the sheet and were slowly pulling out from under him when the arm around you flexed, pulling you closer.
“Stay.” He murmured, arms tightening around you, shifting to press a kiss to your temple. “Just a little longer.”
You let him pull you into him, the warmth of his chest at your back, the steady pulse of his heart against your skin. The comforting scent of him filling your lungs with each breath. It was hard to resist letting your world become Jack Abbot for just a little longer.

‘way too big aren’t you supposed to be working 🤨’
Are the two texts you send to Jack at 10pm, lounging in bed while he works. He had just sent you yet another listing for a house.
You had told him, about a week ago, that you wouldn’t kick up a fuss if he wanted to buy a house. It had taken a lot of convincing from your friends, more aptly a metaphorical kick in the ass to let your rich boyfriend-slash-baby-daddy do things for you, but you decided to radically let go of the reigns and let him do what he wants.
If you’re being completely honest with yourself, you’re so excited. You can’t help but think about worst case scenario hellscapes, but when you do you try and shove it down to the recesses of your brain and ignore them. You saw the weight that your hesitation and doubts caused on Jack, who has never, not once, given you cause for them. So you’re letting him buy a house, that you will move into without a fight, in order to avoid the frustration and hurt in his eyes every time you retreated from his open arms.
It doesn’t mean that you’re going to staunch your opinions on the listing he sends you, though. You’ve seen, hell, you’ve become a fixture, in Jack’s current duplex, and you simply will not be allowing him to decorate your new home alone. If you did, it would be dark and moody, with little color other than beige, navy blue, and browns. Not to mention the ostentatious size of a lot of the houses he’s sending you to consider.
You, Jack, and an infant certainly don’t require 5,000 square feet.
‘I am working’
You chuckle to yourself as he texts you back.
‘Send me a picture’ he requests.
‘naughty naughty’ you reply.
‘Not like that
Just let me see my girls, please’
You smile and fight the blush on your cheeks. You and Jack had been back to the doctor- a second time since you should have been able to find out the gender, but the baby did not want to show you - and were both delighted to find out that the baby was, in fact, a girl.
It was quiet and intimate, just like you had wanted. The ultrasound tech lit up as the moved the probe over your stomach, and had given the two of you the news with a beaming smile.
You immediately lit up with a smile, turning to look at Jack as he stood next to you. He pressed a warm kiss to your temple with a whispered “Thank you,” and as he pulled back you saw the shine of shed tears in his eyes.
So now, in between texting Jack while he works, you’re carefully curating a pinterest board for a baby girls’ nursery.
You’re thinking about a forest theme, with little cartoon animals everywhere as well as florals and vines.
You’ll see what Jack thinks the next time you see him.
You quickly snap a selfie, under no impression that you’re looking your best, and send it to Jack.
You’re laid back in bed, covers sitting below your steadily expanding baby bump, with no bra and a few pimple patches dotting your face.
Jack doesn’t reply before you fall asleep, getting a hopeful 8 hours before work in the morning, which is typical for him.
You wake up to a few more texts from him, also not unusual as he tends to send stream of consciousness messages when he’s bored on the night shift. The ones that stick out to you, however, are the ones telling you that he’ll be picking you up at 5:30 tonight to go to a walkthrough of a house.
One you haven’t seen before, a new listing, he explained, that he loves and think you will too.
You text him back to agree, telling him to get some sleep before then.
You spend the day excited, thinking about how Jack must really like the house because he’s never taken you to see one, nor refused to send you a listing with photos.
You’re still in your work outfit, barely home long enough to put down your lunch bag, when Jack appears in your door to pick you up.
“So, you really like this one?” you ask as you settle into his truck and snap your seatbelt. Under the bump, just like your OB said.
“Yeah, I think it’s perfect.” he replies excitedly.
“What makes it perfect?” you ask.
“Calm down, you’ll see in just a second.”
You cross the river, quickly moving into areas where the roads are wider, the houses bigger, and the bright lights of Pittsburgh farther away.
“How far is this from work?” you ask.
“About 25 minutes for me, 30ish for you.” he says.
“Is that with or without traffic?” you ask with a raised eyebrow.
“With,” he defends, “it’s closer than you think.”
“Now, this house isn’t new, but it was recently remodeled,” he explains, “and not by one of those cheap ass flippers, the owners knew if they remodeled they could get a lot more when they sold.”
“Okay, nice.” you nod.
“I really think you’ll like it.” he says with a self-satisfied grin.
Jack pulls the car over in front of a house on the right.
“Let’s go,” he urges, getting out of the car and coming around to help you down. Jack throws his arm around your shoulder as you walk up the driveway, knocking on the front door.
A woman answers the door and greets the two of you by name, ushering you in and allowing you to explore the home.
You walk through the house, a neutral smile on your face as you observe.
As much as you try to remain neutral, Jack seems to truly know you and your tastes, and you find yourself enjoying the house, much more than any of the listings he’s sent before.
Cozy, but not small. Airy, with large windows opening up to the backyard. A nice, roomy kitchen overlooking the dining and living rooms. The primary bathroom and closet are the things of dreams - luxurious and white, shining and polished. Four bedrooms and an office, three bedrooms upstairs and one downstairs.
As much as you try to tamp down your reactions, not wanting to overly influence him, Jack can see the excitement and awe in your face.
After you have done enough touring, you and Jack thank the real estate agent and head back to the car.
“So, what do you think?” he asks with a smile.
“I liked it.” you tell him truthfully.
“I’m glad,” he grins, “I like it too. I like it the most out of all the listings I’ve seen.” he tells you.
“I agree.” you say.
“Can you see us living there?” he asks, “Can you see us coming home from the hospital with this little one,” he poses, placing a gentle hand on your bump from across the console, “and putting her in bed in this house?”
“I can,” you agree, getting choked up at the idea.
“Good,” he says, leaning over the console and pressing a firm kiss on your lips. “I’ll put in an offer tomorrow.” he grins.
“Okay,” you smile. “Do you think we’d actually be able to move in before the due date?” you ask.
You’re having a December baby, and the days and weeks seem to be flying by at high speeds.
“Maybe,” he ponders, “or maybe not. Either way, we’ll make it work, even if the timing isn’t great.”
“Well, it seems like either way, I won’t be much help in the moving process.” you scrunch up your nose in apology.
“Ahh, don’t worry, I know plenty of people to help. And I’ll hire movers.” he laughs.
He drives back into the city, dropping you off at home with a kiss.
“Get some sleep,” he urges, despite the fact that it’s only 6:30, “and I’ll see you later. I love you.” he coos, dropping a kiss on your lips and ushering you inside your apartment.
“I love you too.” you smile as you close the door.
You can’t help it then, the excitement of the afternoon hitting you all at once, and you do a little happy dance around the living room, hoping that it all goes well and you’ll have the honor of living in that gorgeous house with your gorgeous boyfriend and your gorgeous baby.
It feels much better than being scared.

I’m getting a little personal with this ask for Dr. Abbot but what if the reader always complements Dr. Abbot on his gray hairs and always loves touching his waves but he’ll just roll his eyes because it’s just another thing that shows he’s an old man compared to her. But one morning the reader looks in the mirror and sees a grey hair (in my case several brought on my stress) but on herself she freaks out so now his turn to comment on it in a loving way. Hope that’s okay!
Totally ok!!!! It's so real!
Silver Linings
Pairing: Dr Jack Abbott x YoungerGf!Reader
Tumblr media
You’d always loved Jack’s hair.
Not just because it was him—though that didn’t hurt. No, it was the way the silver threaded through the dark, how his waves were always a little unruly no matter how he tried to tame them. Like a reminder he could never be entirely controlled, not even by time.
“You have such distinguished hair,” you’d tease, trailing your fingers through it when he sat beside you on the couch reading some journal or responding to emails at an ungodly hour. “You mean I look old,” he’d reply flatly, glancing at you over the rim of his glasses. “I mean you look hot,” you’d counter. “Mature. Powerful. A little grumpy, which—bonus points.”
And he’d roll his eyes. Every time. But he let you do it—let you touch him, admire him, revel in him. Even if the gap between you made him nervous sometimes.
Which is why the scene this morning felt almost cosmically cruel.
You were brushing your teeth when you spotted it in the mirror.
Then another.
Then another.
Your heart dropped. You leaned closer to the glass, toothbrush forgotten in your mouth. “No.”
You parted your hair, fingers shaking just enough to give you away.
“No, no, no—”
You yanked the light closer and blinked. The silver wasn’t imaginary.
Several strands, glinting like betrayal in the harsh morning light.
When Jack walked into the bathroom a minute later, you were still standing there, frozen.
He paused at the doorway, toothbrush in hand, then tilted his head. “You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
“I have.” Your voice was flat. “And apparently she’s living on my scalp now.”
He blinked. “What?”
You turned to him slowly, parted your hair, and pointed. “I have gray hairs, Jack. Plural. Multiple. Like—at least six.”
There was a beat of silence.
And then, infuriatingly, he laughed.
“Oh, don’t you dare—!” you started, slapping his chest lightly as he ducked his head, still grinning.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” he said between chuckles, wrapping his arms around your waist despite your dramatic horror. “It’s just—you look like someone died.”
“I am dying. Of premature aging.”
Jack rolled his eyes again—fond, this time. “You’re twenty-six. One gray hair doesn’t put you in a nursing home.”
“It’s not one!”
He reached up, brushing your hair back with a gentleness that made your throat tighten.
“You’re beautiful,” he said, eyes locking on yours in the mirror.
You didn’t speak.
“You always tell me you love my gray hairs. Said it makes me look... what was it? Powerful? Sexy?”
“Distinguished,” you murmured.
He kissed your temple. “Exactly.”
You tried not to look too pleased, even as your heart calmed beneath his words.
“Guess now you’ve got a matching strand,” he said softly, resting his chin on your shoulder. “Looks good on you, by the way.”
You met his gaze again. “So you’re saying I’m aging like fine wine?”
“I’m saying,” Jack said, “you could be covered in silver and I’d still look at you like you hung the moon.”
Your throat tightened. You turned around, resting your hands on his chest.
“Okay,” you whispered. “I guess one or two... or six... isn’t the end of the world.”
He smirked. “Welcome to the silver fox club.”
You squinted. “You’re not gonna make me call you that now, are you?”
Jack leaned in, voice low against your ear. “Only if you want to.”

Send Me An Angel - Chapter One (Dr Jack Abbot x NurseWife!OFC)
Tumblr media
Summary: The darkness didn't just go away because he was home, especially after a night like that, but it did start to feel a little less heavy. Eventually.
TW: 18+ content, canon typical content warnings apply, mentions of suicide and characters making light of suicide because that just how they deal, some smut, established relationship, age gap but barely mentioned (yet) , dark thoughts, angst, some fluff, nobody you love dies ... barely proofread or edited. Y'all I came out of fanfic retirement for this grumpy asshole because I love him (and Robby) so be gentle
~~~~~~~~
7:40am
Jack opened the door between the house and garage and immediately smelled breakfast cooking. He dropped his backpack by the washer and dryer and stripped his shirt off over his head. "Babe!" He dug through his bag for his scrub top and kicked out of his shoes. "I'm home!" He pulled his ID badge off his pocket, slipped his silicone wedding band back on, then took out his extra pen light, three pens he didn't remember taking and the knife out of his other poket before he dropped his pants, pulled off his socks and shoved the whole pile into the hamper labeled 'work' before he picked up his bag and headed inside.
"Clean up and come eat!" She called back from the kitchen.
"Yes ma'am!" He walked down the short hall and ducked through a door to the master bedroom. He dumped his bag on the floor by the closet and went straight for the shower where he spun the knob as hot as it would go. By the time he stepped out of his boxer briefs and stared at himself in the mirror for a minute steam was rolling over the doors.
The water burned but he didn't touch the knob. For a long moment he didn't move, just let the water run over his head while he held his breath as long as he could. Once his head began to swim, his pulse pounding in his ears and his chest tight he stepped back and took a deep breath. The darkness didn't just go away because he was home, especially after a night like that, but it did start to feel a little less heavy. Eventually.
Once he scrubbed himself clean he put on a pair of sweats and a shirt to head out to the kitchen, which smelled like biscuits and homemade gravy. Sam was in front of the stove barefoot, in a pair of what must have been very short, shorts hiding under a baggy ARMY t-shirt he was pretty sure was his. She must have actually got off work on time.
He walked up behind her to wrap his arms around her, "Hey baby" Jack kissed the side of her neck and buried his face in her still damp hair so be could breathe in the smell of her eucalyptus shampoo and antibactial soap.
Her response was cut and dry as she stirred the contents of the pan, "Robby called."
"God damn it" He dropped his forehead down to her shoulder.
"Don't be mad, he's your best friend."
"Not right now he's not." Jack looked up and turned to lean his temple against the back of her head.
"You realize if you deep throat your pistol or yeet yourself off a building I don't get your benefits right?" She still hadn't looked at him.
"Yeet?"
She scoffed, "Avoidance. Nice. Yes, yeet, just a friendly reminder that I am, technically, younger than you and I could remarry if I had to."
He stroked over her ribcage, the material of the shirt well worn and smooth against the rough pad of his thumb. He kissed the crown of her head, "Do it for the money this time."
His wife leaned back into him with an annoyed sigh, "Please don't make me get married again, Jack."
After a long, deep breath Jack pressed another kiss to the back of her head, "I won't." A kiss to the side of her neck, longer and lingering this time. "You're makin' biscuits and gravy."
Finally, she turned around to face him and wrapped her arms around his neck, "Thought it might make you feel a little better." On her tip toes she pressed her lips to his once, and then a second time.
Jack hummed appreciatively as he kissed her back. He let his grip loosen on her enough to slide his hands down over her waist and her hips. He coaxed another, longer kiss from her as he moved to slip his hands under her shirt. He pulled up abruptly and groaned into her mouth as he touched bare skin. "You're not wearin' anything under here."
With a smile she nipped at his bottom lip, "Thought it might make you feel a little better."
With something between a chuckle and a groan he pressed his forehead down into hers. He kissed her again, with more intent this time, as he reached over to turn the stove burner off with one hand. He made her giggle as he picked her up by the waist and set her on the counter. His voice was quiet, rough as he spoke, "You're the only thing that could."
Sam let out a long, shaky breath as she pulled him closer and kissed him harder. "Don't ever leave me Jack, not like that."
His only answer was to nod and claim her mouth with his once more and drag her hips tight to his own.
"Promise me." She mumbled against his lips, her fingers tugging at the waisband of his sweats.
"Promise." He moved his kisses to the soft spot at the hinge of her jaw, and then lower, down her neck to her clavicle. When he felt her tremble slightly he smoothed his hands up her thighs and then moaned into the side of her neck as she wrapped her fingers around his cock. The fingers of her other hand were buried in the curls at the back of his neck and for a split second he couldn't imagine a life, or lack there of, without this in it, without her in it.
"Jack…" Sam's voice was breathy as she tugged at those curls, drawing him back to the present moment.
He moved back to kiss her, "I'm right here baby," Jack swept his tongue through her mouth and tugged her impossibly closer, "I'm right here." His hand pulled hers away from him, even that brief touch, the couple of minutes he'd had her in his arms, and he was already hard as a rock. As her hands moved to tug and pull at his tshirt he actually cracked a smirk, just a twitch of his lips as more of the darkness slipped away. Jack did as she wanted and stripped his shirt off before he went back to shove his sweats down just low enough to pull himself free. "Ready?" He asked the question with his lips against her ear and she shivered and nodded into his shoulder.
All the years they'd been together, the thousands of times they'd fucked, made love, fooled around, and every fucking time he slid his cock home it knocked the fucking air out of his chest. Her pussy was tight, hot and wet, already quivering around him and he finally felt alive again. Sam wrapped her legs around him tight, locked him in place and he grinned.
"God you feel so good, always feels so good." Her words snapped him out of his head again and sent a jolt straight to the base of his spine.
Suddenly alive, happy even, Jack reached to take her face in his hands and tip her up to look at him as he began to move. One slow thrust after another he kept his brown eyes locked on hers so bright and sunny, even after hearing her husband had been standing on the edge of a roof less than an hour ago. She didn't look away from him, not until his hips were snapping into hers hard enough for her eyes to roll back in there head. Her mouth open, filthy sounds falling from her lips as her fingers clutched at his forearms. "Look at me."
Her eyes flew open, bright but unfocused, and she held his gaze once again.
"Good girl," He let her see him smile this time, really smiled for the first time since he got home, and then he kissed her. Deep and sloppy and he hoped it showed her he was okay. Her legs tightened around his hips and her hands began to scramble over his arms, shoulders, his back. Still with that same smile he fucked her harder, dropped one hand down to the small of her back to hold her tight. "Go ahead, go ahead baby. I'm right here, I'm right here." The position pressed her against him just right and the sensation of her clit rubbing against him and the head of his cock hitting that perfect spot deep in side her made her gasp.
"Oh shi…God, Jack, shit!" and then every muscle in her long, lean little body seized tight and her nails dug into the back of his neck. The little bit of pain and the sensation of her falling apart around him dragged him over the edge. That falling sensation he had craved with every bone in his body finally coming to a realization. Except at the bottom of this fall, the cold hard ground was replaced by the feel of his wife's lips against his neck, her fingers twisting and toying with his curls still damp from the shower, and her happy little moan as her body relaxed against him.
He couldn't look at her just yet, so he pressed his face to the crown of her head and breathed her in as he wrapped her up tight. He couldn't pull away from her, not yet, and he hummed appreciatively as he felt her arms and legs wrap tighter around him. Jack didn't really think about how long they had stayed there, his dick going soft inside her, the mess they made. Eventually he sniffed and breathed in deep and whispered, "I love you."
Samantha, the love of his life, smiled against his neck and pressed a kiss against his slowing pulse, "Love you too."
The ding of the oven timer startled them both and after a second they broke into soft chuckles. Jack stood up straight and dropped his head back between his shoulder blades, the darkness gone, grumbling as Sam's teeth nipped over his corotid. "Biscuits are gonna burn if you don't let me go."
He grumbled again, face back in it's normal scowl, "Only 'cause I'm starving." He bent down to kiss her a final time before he finally, slowly, stepped away from her. One hand still on her thigh as he reached for a paper towel to clean up the mess they'd made so they could eat breakfast and go to bed.
5:43pm
When he woke up later that afternoon Samantha was still sound asleep beside him, her back to him, bare because they'd gone to bed after breakfast and made love, softer a slower than in the kitchen that morning. He turned onto his back to look at the alarm clock. He could go ahead and get up.
"Go back to sleep." Her voice was soft and raspy, barely awake, like she was trying to fight it.
Jack smirked to himself as he twisted back to kiss the back of her head before he slipped out of bed for the bathroom. He'd never slept well, even before the Army, before Afghanistan and Iraq, even before med school or the switch to nightshifts. On his way back from taking a leak he stopped by the dresser and flipped the switch on the scanner. He'd go back to bed, because she was there, but he doubted he'd sleep. He would have to get up soon anyway. At first there was silence, then the radio chatter picked up.
Back in bed his wife grumbled and pulled the blanket up tighter as she turned towards him. "Sleep okay?"
Jack stretched, arms over his head, and grimaced as his bad shoulder popped, "Slept fine." He laid one arm out and she immediately moved to his side and tucked herself in, twisting her head so she could press a kiss to the scar under his clavicle. "Close your eyes," He pressed a kiss to her forehead, "Go back to sleep." She didn't have to work tonight and he didn't want to ruin her night off. His own eyes slipped closed as he stroked his fingers up and down her arm. He focused on each of her breaths as they ghosted over his chest while he listened to the static and clicks as mics were keyed on and off, officers called in traffic stops, dispatch relayed reports from callers.
When he'd come back from his last deployment and they were finally able to live together longer than a few months at a time, Jack had been shocked how quiet everything was. Even in base housing, there was silence. Sam told him him he'd acclimate, he'd get used to it. She said she listened to podcasts, audiobooks, something to drown out the silence. No jets or C130s screaming ovehead and howling on the tarmac, no chop from blackhawks or chinooks at all hours of the night, no yelling, fighting or roughhousing on the other side of plywood walls.
He hadn't acclimated.
Audiobooks didn't help, he'd lay awake all night because he needed to know how it ended. Podcasts just annoyed him, even the true crime ones she seemed to favor and somehow was able to fall asleep to within the first ten minutes. It wasn't until they'd moved off base that she'd thought of it while they unpacked the den. Sam had pulled out the radio and charging dock, the one they had 'just in case', turning the knob to see if it still worked and it had. So, they'd listened as they unpacked. "Maybe this would help you sleep." She'd been right.
For a moment, with the radio chatter, the blackout curtains and her pressed close against him he thought he might fall back asleep.
A series of chirps followed by long, highpitched tone sounded through the room followed by, "Shots fired, shots fired! All units…" the unmistakable sounds of rifle rounds popped and crackled over the speaker, "Shots fired!" Screaming, distant and garbled. Louder pops, closer, the officers handgun as it rang out. He or a partner maybe as they returned fire. Bang, bang, pause, bang,bang, "We need units now, we have an active shooter at Pitt…" The thirty second emergency call cut short and then the radio chatter exploded with answering officers and dispatchers.
Jack had sat up straight, Sam did the same beside him. Together they listened. Sam combed one hand through her hair as they waited.
Pittfest.
"Jesus," Sam looked at her husband, "That'll go to you guys."
Jack was already out of bed and pulling on underwear, before Sam could finish her sentence.
Less than 10 minutes later Sam met him at the garage door wearing just a hoodie and holding a shaker bottle. "Take this." She shoved it at him as he grabbed his truck keys. "And call me. Anything, just call me."
Jack ignored the protein shake for the moment instead sinking his free hand into her mess of dirty blonde hair and pulling her into him for a kiss. When they finally pulled apart he looked her dead in the eyes. "I love you."
She didn't blink, didn't breath as she pressed a hand over the center of his chest, over his steady beating heart. "I love you."
Then he grabbed the protein shake, gave her one last kiss and climbed into his truck.
6:11pm
Jack wouldn't ever say it out loud, except maybe to Sam, but he lived for this. This, the blood, the gore, the fear and the chaos, the critical thinking all of it, this is what he'd been put to do. This was easy, this was routine. He felt alive.
"Where's Collins?"
"I need a chest tube!"
"How the hell are we out of chest tubes!"
"O pos! I need a bag of O pos over here!
"I need help with an airway!"
"Someone get me more O Neg!"
Robby appeared at his side as they worked together the slow the blood pouring out of an adomen. "Depot is running low."
Jack spared a quick glance around him, "Where are we on resupply?"
"Gloria says she's working on it."
"How long?"
Robby laughed in that self-deprecating way ER doctors specialize in, "Your guess is as good as mine. She says she's working on it."
"Fuck that." Jack mumbled as he stood up straight, "Bag him." He ripped his gloves off and dug his phone out of his pocket. God bless FirstNet, he had signal and when he hit send the call went through. "Yeah, I'm fine. Need a favor."
6:32pm
The Ambulance bay doors hissed open. Robby looked up, "Ohhh, you are the prettiest thing i've seen all day!"
Jack glanced to the side, "Back off Robinavitch, I saw her first."
Sam dodged gurneys as she approached. A duffle bag in each hand and a backpack. "I come bearing gifts!" She made a beeline for the nurses station and Dana.
"Sweetie, please tell me you didn't just pick the worst possible time for a visit?" Dana met her arms wide open.
The duffle bags dropped on the counter with a thud and Sam shrugged out of her backpack so she could return Dana's hug. "Courtesy of Pittsburg VA Medical Center." Sam unzipped one bag and then the other, "I've got chest tubes, I've got cath tubes, some of this tubing I'm not even sure what the fuck it's for, and as many bags and adapters as I could take. i've got CAT tourniquets, SOF turniquests, some surgical turniquets, hemostatic dressings, suture kits, a shit ton of gauze and tape. There's chest seals in that one and abdominal trauma kits if shit gets real western," She turned to Dana as she whipped her long ponytail up into a quick and well practiced bun, "and this," she dug in the pocket of her scrub pants and handed over a piece of paper, "Is a list of people ready and waiting to come if you need them."
For a second it looked like Dana might cry as she glanced down at the list of names and phone numbers written in all different handwriting, mismatched inks, marker, pencil. It looked like they'd all used whatever they had handy at the time. She looked up at Sam and smiled, "You're an angel. Have I told you lately that I love you?" She wrapped her up in another hug.
"Yes, but it never gets old." Sam squeezed her back. "Now, I slammed a Monster on the way here so put me to work."
Dana smiled, "Put those in behavioral, that's supply, then gown up and pick a body." she paused, "i'm glad you're here."
On her way by her husband he called out to Dana, "Tap her, she's O-Neg!"
Sam gave him a look, "What, am I just a blood bank to you?" She gave Robby a wink as she passed him.
Jack called after her, "Love you."
"You better!"
Jack and Robby exchanged a look over a patient, "She's still pissed about this morning. Thanks for that by the way."
"What are best friends for?"
With a scoff Jack stood up, "This one can go up. Bring me another red!" then turned back to Robby, "I don't have a best friend."
Robby laughed and got back to work.
Jack took a deep breath, stole a glance at his wife already helping Samira place an airway on a gunshot victim, and nodded to himself. He remembered why now. He remembered why he kept coming back. For the time being anyway.
3:58 am
The only reason Jack didn't jump, flinch or even move when he felt a hand rest on the back of his head was because he'd recognize that touch anywhere. He groaned, but did not look up from where he sat with his elbows braced on his knees and his head hanging low. Her fingers carded through his curls and she scratched her nails over his scalp in the way that he loved so fucking much. Blindly, with one hand, he grabbed the back of her knee and tugged her closer so he could rest his forehead against her stomach.
Long minutes passed while she played with his hair and he didn't realize the death grip he still had on the back of her leg until his fingers began to cramp. Jack relaxed his hold on her, but didn't let her go. DIdn't want to risk her stopping or stepping away.
"You want some of my coffee?" Her voice was so gentle, but loud in the darkness.
His gaze fell on her shoes, smeared with blood. He sat up straighter, tipped his head back to look at her. "Sure."
She handed him the cup of shitty, hospital coffee and he sipped it. Black. She must be exhausted.
"Hey," she moved her hand down to the back of his neck but continued to scratch her nails over his skin. When he met her gaze, she gave him a soft smile, "Think you should go check on Robby."
He took another sip of her coffee and rubbed his hand up and down the back ofher thigh, trying to ignore the feel of the dried, caked blood, "Where is he?"
Her pretty green eyes blinked and she nodded, fighting back tears. "GIve you one guess."
First Night Back
Fortunately for you and Jack, Robby was able to get you a full week off before coming back to work after the wedding. The week was filled with you two sitting on the couch next to each other creating a registry for not only the baby but, for things to fill your home with eventually.
“You ready to go back tonight?”
“I wish I could stay home with you all the time but, yeah, I’m ready.”
The buzz of the ER returned like muscle memory.
You and Jack stood side by side in the locker room.  His hair was still damp from the quick shower he'd taken before you left the house. You could smell his shampoo in it.
“Ready for the honeymoon shift?” Jack said, his voice dry but warm.
You snorted. “Nothing says romance like traumas and code blues.”
He leaned over and kissed your temple. “At least you’re here to make it tolerable.”
You walked out together, and the noise hit instantly—monitors beeping, a patient yelling from triage, an EMT calling out vitals mid-roll-in. It should’ve felt overwhelming. Instead, it felt weirdly familiar.
“Well, well, well look who’s back.” Robby said from across the ER.
Dana held her arms out. “We’ve got a full board just for you two. Pedestrian versus car in Trauma 1. Sepsis in 3. Psych eval holding in 5 and refusing meds. And,” she added with a smirk, “some kid in curtain 8 swallowed a Lego.”
“So glad to be back here,” you muttered, walking away to find your first case back.
You and Jack split off instinctively, no need to even speak. You caught him glancing at you as he passed. A flicker of we’re okay. We’re doing this.
The night was filled with case after case, barely any time to talk to each other. Mostly just him asking if you were okay in passing. But you always made time to catch each other eyes from across the ER.
There was a lull around 2am when Jack came to find you. He looked over at you, and his expression softened. “You sure you’re okay?”
It wasn’t the first time he’d asked tonight. Or this week.
You sighed. “I’m pregnant, not broken. I’m fine.”
“Just making sure.”
You leaned your hip against the desk, pretending you didn’t notice the subtle way Jack’s eyes scanned you from head to toe—evaluating.
“Jack.”
He raised his hands in mock surrender but said, “I’m allowed to care.”
You softened. He wasn’t wrong. It was part love, part habit. The way you’d both learned to read each other in triage, in chaos, in the stillness between codes. Except now the stakes were higher.
6:50 a.m. — Change of Shift
You were charting the last of your overnight notes when you heard them before you saw them.
Dana, breezing through the doors with a coffee in one hand and her ID badge already clipped on crooked. Robby beside her, muttering something. And Langdon, as always, trailing behind them.
“Look at you,” Dana said the moment she spotted you, dragging her chair backward across the floor to sit right beside you. “Pregnant and still functioning. Honestly, it’s inspiring. Or maybe terrifying.”
You didn’t look up. “Don’t talk to me until I’ve had a nap and a bagel.”
“Fair,” Robby said, dropping his bag on the counter. “But before we begin, serious question: Are you going to have your baby in this hospital?”
“Well, our OB is upstairs so don’t think we have too much on a choice. But no, you guys are not allowed in the room. You can all wait in the waiting room.”
Groans came from all of them before Dana and Robby walked away. Landon staying behind.
Langdon leaned against the counter, his eyes narrowing at your charting speed. “You’ve been up all night?”
“Sure have,” you said, popping the final signature on your trauma note.
“You should be home. Resting.”
Jack, walking past, paused just long enough to throw in, “She also threw a pen across the unit when her monitor froze, so…thriving.”
You shot him a glare, but your lips twitched. “It didn’t hit anyone.”
Langdon grunted. “I’ve seen less motivated attendings take two weeks off for a cold. And you’re still here?”
You shrugged. “Only sixteen weeks, not sixty. I can still do my job.”
“You look like something’s bothering you kid. You fuck up on your first night back already?”
“I’m offended that you would even think that but, no. Its about me and Jack.”
“It’s about your sex life isn’t it?”
“That obvious?”
“Somehow these conversations always turn into a sex talk regardless of how hard I try to say away from it and anyway you guys are married now and you’re carrying his child so even if I don’t want to think about it, obviously you guys are having sex.” Langdon blinked once.  “So go on.”
You exhaled, feeling immediately ridiculous but too far in to stop. “It’s just- we’ve been weird lately. Hesitant. Ever since I started showing. I mean of course we had sex on our wedding night and one other time last week but, it felt off in a way.”
Langdon nodded, letting you keep going.
“He’s being careful. Like, overly careful. Gentle in a way that makes me feel like I might shatter. And I know it’s coming from a good place. I just- I miss feeling like myself. Like us. There’s this invisible line we keep dancing around, and I’m starting to wonder if he’s scared of hurting me. Or the baby. Or both.”
Langdon leaned back in his chair. “Definitely both.”
You raised an eyebrow.
“I’ve seen it before, felt it before actually,” Langdon said. “New father, already in love with a kid he hasn’t met yet, suddenly sees his wife as precious cargo instead of a woman with her own needs and desires.”
“So what, I’m just a vessel now for this baby?”
“No,” he said, firmly. “You’re still you. But he’s navigating something new. He’s terrified. And you’ve always been the strong one, so his instinct is to protect what he doesn’t understand.”
You were quiet for a moment. “And how do I deal with that?”
“Talk to him,” Langdon said simply. “Tell him you’re not made of glass. That being close, being touched, being wanted—it still matters. Pregnancy doesn’t erase who you are in the relationship. It just shifts the balance. He needs permission to stop treating you like you’re breakable.”
You nodded slowly. “And if he still hesitates?”
Langdon gave you a look. “Then you remind him who the hell you are.”
You laughed, tension breaking just a bit. “You’re not the worst at this, you know.”
Langdon reached for his coffee. “Don’t tell anyone. I’ve got a reputation.”
“Mel is really lucky to have you.”
He smiled gently. “Not as lucky as I am to have her.”
You stood. “Thank you.”
He looked up. “For what it’s worth, you two are solid. You’ll figure it out.”
You nodded again, already composing the conversation in your head. It wasn’t just about sex. It was about closeness. About not letting this new chapter turn into distance.
You grabbed your bag and stood slowly, a hand reflexively brushing your belly.
Jack appeared behind you, looping his fingers through yours. “Ready for our appointment?” he murmured.
You nodded. “Oh my god. I forgot about that.”
“That’s what you have me for.” He kissed your cheek.
As you walked out together, the ER faded behind you. There was no need to sneak out the back door to go upstairs to your OB. Basically the whole hospital knew you and Jack were expecting. News spread like wildfire once you told Dana, Mel, Robby and Langdon that they were allowed to tell whoever they wanted.
16 Weeks - OB Appointment
The waiting room was quiet, bathed in that too-soft, too-warm light that always made you feel like you might accidentally fall asleep sitting up.
You were still in your scrubs, badge clipped to your collar, shoes a little scuffed from twelve hours of trauma and chaos.
Jack sat beside you, one leg bouncing restlessly.
He nudged your knee. “You good?”
You nodded. “Just tired.”
“Want me to be quiet?”
You glanced at him. “You’re never quiet.”
Jack smirked but didn’t argue.
The nurse called your name, and you both stood. Jack’s hand instinctively found your back as you followed her down the hall. She didn’t comment on the way your steps slowed, or the way your eyes flicked toward the ultrasound machine.
“Hop up here,” she said gently. “The doctor will be in soon. We’ll take a listen first.”
You lay back, pulling up your scrub top just enough to expose the curve of your belly. The nurse squirted cold gel onto your skin and pressed the doppler into place.
It took a moment—one long, aching second—before you heard it, the whoosh-thump-whoosh-thump of a tiny, relentless heart.
Jack let out a breath you didn’t realize he’d been holding. His hand found yours without needing to look.
“Strong,” the nurse said, smiling. “Mid-150s. Baby’s happy to be in there.”
You blinked, surprised by the sudden sting in your eyes. Maybe it was the exhaustion. Or maybe it was the way Jack was staring at the monitor like it held every answer to every question you hadn’t asked.
Then the doctor came in. “Vitals are great, weight is on track, and baby is measuring right on schedule. Any new symptoms?”
You hesitated. “Some weird pulling when I twist or stretch. Sleeping’s harder.”
“That’s normal—your uterus is growing, everything's are adjusting. Stay hydrated, rest when you can, and if it gets sharp or constant, page me.”
You cleared your throat. “Can I ask something?”
Jack looked at you sharply.
The doctor nodded. “Of course.”
You didn’t look at Jack. “Is it safe, you know to- to keep being intimate?”
He almost choked letting out a cough.
 “Absolutely. Unless your having complications—which you’re not—sex is totally safe. The baby’s protected by the uterus and amniotic fluid. It’s normal for things to feel different, emotionally or physically, but there’s no medical reason to stop unless either of you wants to.”
He stared at the ceiling, cheeks burning. Jack’s hand tightened around yours again.
“Thank you,” you said quietly.
The doctor smiled at you both. “Just listen to each other. This is new territory, but you’re a team. You’ll figure it out.”
When he stepped out, the room was quiet again, save for the faint echo of that tiny heartbeat still ringing in your ears.
He turned his head toward you. “Didn’t see that coming”
You shrugged, sheepish. “I wanted to hear it from someone that’s an expert in this field.”
He laughed. “I needed to hear it too.”
Later That Night — At Home
The house was dim, lit only by the soft amber glow of a lamp in the living room and the blue flicker of the TV.
You came out of the bathroom in one of Jack’s old t-shirts and boxers, towel-drying your hair. He was on the couch, legs stretched out, wearing sweats and a t-shirt with the look of a man who hadn’t stopped thinking since that OB appointment.
You sat beside him, letting your weight lean into his. He immediately curled an arm around your shoulder.
Neither of you spoke for a while. You just breathed, syncing up with him again.
Eventually, you murmured, “You were really quiet after I asked the doctor that question.”
Jack nodded. “Was just taking it all in I guess.”
You tilted your head toward him. “You’ve been scared around me. I guess I just thought our first week of together after the wedding would be us having sex everywhere and anywhere.”
“Yeah.” His voice was raw honesty. “You’ve been pushing through like nothing’s changed. But everything has. And I don’t want to be the reason something goes wrong.”
You touched his chest, over his heart. “Don’t be fragile with me here.”
Jack looked at you then, fully, like he was trying to memorize every inch of your face.
“I missed you,” he whispered. “And I didn’t know how to get back without hurting you.”
You took his hand and brought it to your belly. “We’re right here. Still me. Still us.”
He leaned in, forehead pressing to yours, like he’d been waiting all day to just be this close.
“We can go at whatever pace you want.”
“Jack, I’m growing a child, there’s are so many hormones flowing through my veins and these hormones are telling me that you need to have sex with me as much as you possibly can.”
“Tell me if something’s too much,” he said softly. “If anything feels wrong. I just- I want you to feel good. Wanted. Safe.”
You smiled. “I already do.”
The kiss started soft but, deepened quickly. Not rushed. Just full of need that had gone unsaid for too long.
His hands found your hips like he remembered them. You pulled him closer, needing that weight, that warmth, that certainty that came only from this—from him.
You climbed on top of him without hesitation. Your legs wrapped around him, his thumbs rubbed small, knowing circles just above your waistband. His tongue finding your mouth, swirling around yours. You lifted yourself around him, resting your bodyweight onto his lap.
He let out a soft groan. You adjusted yourself and felt his excitement growing underneath you.
His hands now inside your shirt around your waist. You reached down to the hem of his sweatpants. He adjusted himself off the couch slightly, just barely giving you enough space to slide your hand into his boxers.
“Ah fuck.”
You wrapped your hand around his already solid cock, your thumb rubbing past his tip, already slick with precum.
“Excited already…daddy?” You whispered, lips curling into a smirk.
He let out a breathy laugh, but there was a softness in it—like this moment meant something more than just release. “Why don’t you keep going and I’ll let you know.”
His hands left your hips and went above his head as you put your hand onto his chest. You other hand began to pump up and down on him. Firm enough to make him squirm underneath you.
He was breathing hard and fast. His eyes closed with his head up to the ceiling. You could feel the veins on his cock pulsating in the grasp of you hand.
His hands left your hips and rested above his head, giving you control. You placed your free hand on his chest, steadying yourself as your grip on him tightened. You began to stroke—slow, firm, deliberate.
He was breathing harder now. His jaw clenched, eyes shut tight, chest rising and falling in quick succession. You could feel him throbbing in your hand, every pulse syncing with his shaky breaths.
You leaned in, your lips grazing his ear. “Cum for me, Daddy.”
“Fu—fuck, babygirl.” His body tensed beneath you, arching as his orgasm hit. You felt him spill over your hand—hot, sticky, desperate.
You stroked him through it, coaxing every last drop out of him. And when you were done, your hand slid out and came to your mouth, licking him off your fingers one by one, eyes locked on his.
“That’s my good girl,” he breathed, brushing your hair back, his hands settling around your neck. “Clean up the mess you made.”
“Love how you taste in my mouth.” You grinned, collapsing beside him on the couch.
He put his hand on your thigh, stopping you from going any further. “Where do you think you’re going?”
“Thought you needed a second before we do anything else.”
He nodded his head upwards. “Fuck that, get on top of me right now babygirl.”
He lifted up his hips up, pulling his pants and boxers down to his ankles before sitting back down on the couch.
You stood up off the couch, putting yourself directly in front of him. “Take them off.”
You lowered his boxers on you, red lace panties underneath.
“Those too.” His eyes were dark, voice deep.
Panties hit the floor with you stepping out of them. His shirt the only piece of clothing still on your body, barely covering your lower half.
“Come up here.” He tapped his thighs with both hands.
You straddled him again, knees pressed into the cushions on either side of his legs. His hands gripped your waist under the shirt, tugging you closer. You framed his face with your hands and kissed him—hungry, messy, needing more.
He was hard again by the time your hips shifted just enough.
He grabbed himself with one hand, positioning his cock at your entrance. He slid inside you in one long, perfect motion.
Your breath caught.
He filled you. Completely.
He pulled your body closer, lips crashing together.
You rested for a moment, letting yourself adjust to his size inside of you. His hands moved to your lower back, holding you there, grounding both of you in the moment.
“God, baby,” he whispered against your collarbone. “You feel so fucking good.”
You breathed out shakily, forehead resting against his. “I needed this.”
“I know.” His thumbs followed the curve of your hips. “Me too.”
You rolled your hips—slow at first, savoring the way his breath caught, the way his eyes fluttered closed. The drag of him inside you was almost too much, but somehow not enough.
Your bodies moved together, falling into rhythm like muscle memory.
“Look at me,” he said, voice rough and quiet.
And you listened.
He cupped your face with one hand, the other gripping your hip to guide your pace. There was nothing rushed about him.
“You’re so beautiful like this,” he murmured. “Carrying our baby. Still wanting me to fuck you.”
Your heart swelled, throat tightening. You bit your bottom lip as you rocked against him harder, chasing that edge—but not just for the release.
His hands slipped up your back, under your shirt, pulling it over your head and tossing it aside. His mouth found your chest, trailing kisses across your breasts, slow and open-mouthed, worshipful. You threaded your fingers through his silver curls, gasping when he sucked gently at your nipple.
“Jack—” His name broke in your throat.
“I’ve got you,” he said, kissing you again. “Let it go.”
You ground down harder, your body tightening, the heat building deep and fast now. He matched you thrust for thrust, his hips lifting up off the couch.
“Cum for me,” he growled into your neck. “Let me feel you fall apart while I’m inside of you.”
Your climax hit fast and hard—hips bucking, breath caught, muscles clenching around him. You cried out his name as waves rolled through you, your nails digging into his shoulders.
He wasn’t far behind. His grip on you tightened, and with a low, groan, he spilled into you, pulling you down to him, chest to chest, heart to heart.
For a long moment, neither of you moved. Just held each other. Just breathed.
You rested your head against his, bodies slick and tangled and trembling.
“Fuck I missed this,” you whispered. “I missed us.”
Jack kissed your forehead, lips lingering. “We’re still us. Just more now.” He looked down at your stomach.
You smiled into his skin. “Yeah. More.”
His hands settled over your belly, still resting inside you.
“I love you,” he said softly.
“I love you, too.” You kissed him again—slow, deep, and full of all the things you couldn’t say out loud.
18 Weeks
“So, been meaning to ask you, you guys doing any better now?”
“Oh, Lang, trust me you don’t wanna know how much better we’re doing.”
“Yeah, I really, really could’ve gone my whole life without seeing the look of your face right now.”
“Whatever, guess your advice worked.”
He lifted his coffee cup up in a salute. “My advice always works. Anyway aren’t you guys supposed to go look at a house later?”
Langdon perked up. “House hunting again? I thought you guys were getting burned out.”
“We are. We’ve looked at, like, fifteen places and nothing feels right. So I’m not getting my hopes up.”
He shrugged, easy and steady. “You’ll find it. That ‘oh, this is ours’ feeling. It shows up when you least expect it.”
You gave a half-smile. “You get surprisingly sentimental when you’re over caffeinated.”
He grinned. “Kid, I get sentimental when I care. And you two? You’re the real deal. Don’t settle for a house that doesn’t feel like it knows your names already.”
After Shift
The sun was at its highest point when you pulled up in front of the house.
Jack was already waiting on the sidewalk, hands in his coat pockets, rocking on his heels. He gave a small wave when he saw you.
“This the one?” you asked as you stepped out, eyeing the house.
“Apparently,” he said, looking up at the place like it was a riddle he couldn’t quite solve. “Our agent said it just came back on the market this week.“
The exterior was older—white paint a little faded, porch railing crooked. But the windows were big, the trees in the yard were bare, leaves on the ground, and there was a creak in the front step that made you smile for no reason.
The agent greeted you at the door and waved you in with a soft “Take your time. Take it all in.”
You stepped inside—and something shifted.
It wasn’t flashy. The floors were original hardwood, scuffed in all the places that said someone lived here for a long time.The kitchen was dated, but the sunlight poured in like the house knew how to catch it.
Jack walked a few paces ahead of you, quiet. Not cautious—just thoughtful.
You followed him through the living room, past a fireplace that would need work, and into a small room tucked in the back.
You looked around—window facing the yard, soft echo from your footsteps on the floor. Small. Safe.
He didn’t say anything. Just walked over to the window and looked out into the overgrown backyard.
“I can see us here,” he said, like he hadn’t meant to say it out loud.
You stood next to him, shoulder against his. “Even with the popcorn ceilings?”
He smiled. “Especially with the popcorn ceilings. Definitely getting rid of those though.”
Jack followed close behind as you climbed the creaky stairs, your hand grazing the banister that could definitely use refinishing.
At the top, the hallway narrowed. Three doors, slightly ajar.
You pushed open the first one. Small. Bright. The window faced east—you could already imagine morning light filling the crib, soft blankets folded over the chair you’d place in the corner.
Jack stepped beside you. “Definitely the nursery,” he said softly.
You moved to the second room. Bigger. The shape of a bed against the wall, dresser under the window, maybe a little chaos in the corners—Jack’s shoes, your half-read books.
“Our room,” you said.
He nodded, and then nudged the third door open with his foot. The last room.
Neither of you spoke as you stepped in. It was almost identical to the nursery—same creaky floorboard near the closet, same slanted ceiling that gave the space a little character. But this time, when you looked at it, you saw something different.
A twin bed. Toys on the floor. A sleepy toddler dragging a blanket behind them on a Sunday morning.
Jack moved behind you, his hands slipping onto your belly from behind, chin resting gently on your shoulder.
“You thinking what I’m thinking?” he asked quietly.
“I might be.”
“A second one?”
You turned your head toward him, half-smiling. “Too soon?”
Jack grinned. “Little bit. But not really.”
The baby kicked again—like he was chiming in.
You laughed. “You hear that? Your brother’s already opinionated.”
Jack kissed your shoulder, his voice warm against your skin. “Guess we’ll keep the extra room ready. Just in case.”
You both stood there a moment longer, wrapped in silence and the distant sounds of the old house settling around you.
———————————————————————
20 Weeks
Your next OB appointment. You didn’t remember this one either. Not that you needed to. Jack kept track of everything—dates, vitamins, test results. He was your living, breathing calendar.
This appointment you wanted go over your birth plan.
“Of course. Let’s talk about what’s important to you. Any specific preferences? Vaginal delivery? Epidural? Who you want in the room?”
You looked at Jack first. He gave you the tiniest nod, that quiet go-ahead he always gave when the decision was yours, and he’d back you no matter what.
“I’d like to try for a vaginal delivery,” you said. “And I want an epidural, if I don’t need to feel all the pain, I don’t want to.”
The doctor made a note of it. “Totally fair. Birth doesn’t always go according to plan, but we’ll make sure you feel supported every step of the way.”
“And I’ll be there,” Jack added, like it wasn’t even a question. His voice was steady, but there was something in the way he said it. You reached for his hand without thinking, and he took yours immediately.
The OB smiled again. “Husband in the room. Got it. Anyone else?”
“No, just him. No matter how much anybody else wants to come in, I need them to stay in the waiting room, unless they need to drag jack out of the room for freaking out too much.”
“Which is a very real possibility.”
“Got it. Any thoughts on interventions? Vacuum, forceps, C-section if needed?”
You hesitated. That part scared you more than you liked to admit. But Jack squeezed your hand before you could answer.
“I’d like to avoid a C-section unless absolutely necessary,” you said. “Same with everything else, if possible of course. But do whatever you have to.”
“Completely reasonable. We’ll aim for low intervention, high support. I’ll note that flexibility is key. How long are you planning on staying at work?”
“As long as I can.”
You didn’t need to look at Jack to know that he was shaking his head.
“All up to you. If you want a note that you need to stop working let me know. It’s yours whenever you need.”
You exhaled slowly. It felt like you were drawing the map for a trip you couldn’t see yet but, at least now, the path had a shape.
The rest of the night was spent relaxing before your next shift. Going over your plan with Jack again. And getting some much needed sleep before work.
That night, between cases and chaos, you caught him just as he was sitting down to chart.
“Hey, um—can I talk to you really quick?”
His head snapped toward you, brows pulling in. “Yeah. What happened?” His hand went straight to your belly.
You placed your hand gently over his. “The baby’s fine. Perfect, actually. I just...need to show you something.”
You held out your hand, fingers beckoning. Jack narrowed his eyes, voice softening. “Where exactly are you taking me?”
You smirked. “Don’t worry about it.”
You tugged him into the empty on call room, backing up until your spine met the wall.
His eyes darted around the space. “What are we doing in here?”
“Everything,” you whispered, grabbing the front of his scrubs and pulling him in close. “I need you right now, Jack.”
He hesitated only a beat, eyes going toward the door. Then he sighed, low and hungry.
“Well, if we’re doing this here...” His hand slipped away from your waist. “At least let me lock the god damn door first.”
The soft click of the lock was the only warning before you reached for your waistband, untying your scrub pants. Your top hiked up slightly, revealing the curve of your belly.
Jack’s eyes darkened as his hand found your stomach.
“God, you look so fucking good,” he murmured, voice rough. “Carrying my baby. Still this desperate for me to be inside of you.”
His hand moved lower, cupping you over your panties. “Fuck. You’re soaked already.”
“All for you,” you whispered.
His thumb pressed through the fabric, slow and deliberate.
“Ja-Jack,” you gasped, shifting your hips into his hand. “Please. I need your fingers inside me.”
He didn’t need to be told twice.
He slid your panties aside, two fingers running along your folds—slow, teasing strokes that sent electricity racing through your core. He dipped just enough to coat his fingers in you, but not enough to satisfy.
Then, finally, he pushed inside.
You bit down on your lip, head falling back against the wall.
His other hand came up fast, covering your mouth.
“Shhh,” he whispered in your ear. “Quiet, babygirl. Don’t want anyone knowing how fucking filthy you get for me.”
Your hands searched behind you, gripping for anything to brace yourself. The angle. The pressure. The thickness of his fingers curling just right.
Moans broke from your throat, muffled against his palm.
He moved faster, deeper. Fingers fucking you with practiced precision while his thumb rubbed tight circles around your clit.
Your body started to quake.
“Look at you,” he growled. “Falling apart on my fingers. My perfect girl. My perfect mommy.”
Your eyes rolled back as the orgasm slammed into you—white-hot, unexpected, unstoppable.
You shook against him, clinging to his arm as your legs threatened to give out.
Jack held you upright, never letting go, fingers slowly easing out as he kissed your temple.
Still breathless, you whispered against his shoulder, “You’re going to be the death of me.”
He smiled, brushing a strand of hair from your face. “Not a chance. You’re carrying my whole world in there.”
Jack pulled his fingers from you slowly, like he hated to let go.
You were still trembling, thighs pressed together, leaning against him for balance as he gently fixed your panties back into place.
“Fuck,” he murmured, brushing his lips against your temple. “You okay?”
You nodded, eyes glassy, breath still uneven. “Yeah, yeah Just don’t think I can walk back out there yet.”
He chuckled, low and quiet. “You’re gonna have to. I’m not carrying you back to the nurse’s station with your legs like jelly and my cum on your thighs.”
You smacked his chest, trying not to laugh.
A sound. The unmistakable knock on the door.
Both of you froze.
Then came a voice—muffled but unmistakable.
“Hey, Abbott you in there? We got a GSW coming in 5!”
Dana.
Jack’s eyes went wide. You slapped a hand over your mouth to stifle the nervous laugh bubbling up.
He mouthed fuck and motioned silently for you to stay put while he moved toward the door.
“Yeah, one second” he called, voice a little too casual.
In one smooth motion, he straightened his scrubs, cleared his throat, unlocked the door—and stepped out.
“Sorry,” he said to Dana, running a hand through his hair. “Let’s go?”
Dana blinked at him, skeptical. “You’re sweating. You okay?”
Jack smiled. “Yeah just- just wanted to grab a quick nap. You know how these rooms get, pretty stuffy in there.”
You could hear the forced calm in his voice, and it made your cheeks burn.
Dana glanced past him, trying to peer into the room. “You in there alone?”
Jack blocked the door slightly with his body. “Yup. Just me.”
A beat passed. Then she raised an eyebrow.
“You seen your wife?” Dana asked. “She just kinda disappeared. Gonna need her for this one too.”
“Bathroom, I think,” he said smoothly. “You know, gotta pee all the time when you’re pregnant.”
Dana made a face. “Ugh. Say no more.”
Jack waited until she turned down the hallway before he exhaled and slipped back into the room, shutting the door behind him again—quietly this time.
You were still against the wall, lips parted in disbelief. “Did we seriously just almost get caught by Dana?”
He grinned. “We absolutely got caught by Dana.”
You stared at him, then burst out laughing—quiet and breathless and wild.
“I can’t believe you just lied to her face like that.”
Jack leaned in, hands braced on either side of your head. “I’d do a hell of a lot more than lie to protect this.” His voice dropped low.
Your laughter faded into something softer. More vulnerable. You reached up and brushed a thumb along his jaw.
“Next time,” you whispered, “we pick a room that doesn’t echo.”
He kissed you, slow and lingering.
“I’m already looking forward to next time.”
“Oh, you’ll get a next time. I’ll make sure of it.”
22 Weeks
Just four weeks after looking at the house, you two were moving in. Everyone had been helping. Everyone.
People constantly at the apartment helping you pack things into boxes. Robby and Langdon going to the store with Jack to pick up all the furniture you wanting for the house. Dana, Collins, and Mel helping you find the perfect decor.
And now here you stood in the middle of your new living room, surrounded by cardboard boxes and the faint smell of old wood and fresh paint.
Jack was upstairs, wrestling a dresser up the narrow hallway, swearing under his breath in the gentlest way possible. You could hear the dull thud of a drawer sliding out, followed by the scrape of furniture against the banister.
Your hand rested on your belly. Twenty-two weeks. So close, yet so far.
You turned slowly in a circle, trying to decide which box to open first. The one labeled KITCHEN – FRAGILE stared back at you like a challenge. You ignored it and went for the one marked BOOKS – LIVING ROOM.
Jack thumped down the stairs a minute later, wiping his hands on his jeans. “Okay,” he said, out of breath. “I don’t care what the listing said, that hallway is not ‘spacious.’”
You grinned. “You got it up there, though?”
“Barely. I think it’s staying with the house when we die.”
You sat on the arm of the couch, letting the stretch in your lower back ease out. “I was going to start on the books.”
Jack glanced at the box. “Start with the ones we never read but pretend we did. Those can go on the living room shelves.”
He crossed the room to you and crouched down, one hand brushing against your knee, the other settling on your belly. “How’s he doing?”
You shrugged. “Chattier than usual. I think he likes the noise.”
“Or he’s already judging our furniture arrangement.”
You looked around. The couch was at an awkward angle, the coffee table hadn’t made it in yet, and you still hadn’t decided if the painting from your old apartment belonged anywhere in this new place.
It was chaos, but it was yours.
Jack leaned his head against your leg. “We’re really doing this,” he said, quieter now. “This whole thing. House. Baby. All of it.”
You ran your fingers through his silver hair. “We are.”
You felt home.
——————————————————
24 Weeks
Your belly had rounded out more noticeably now. Jack couldn’t keep his hands—or his eyes—off of. Even during the most chaotic shifts, he found a way to check in: a hand on your lower back, a squeeze to your palm during charting, the kind of quiet glances that spoke louder than words.
You were 24 weeks today, at work while he was at home. Hopefully putting together more furniture that had just come in.
He texted you during rounds. “24 weeks. Viable. Our little one could make it of their own now.”
That night, it stormed. The kind of downpour that made traffic impossible, left sirens echoing too often, and made everything feel a little more raw.
You came home late, soaked and silent. Too tired to cook. Too wired to sleep.
Jack was the one who finally said it, after hours of half-watching some muted show from the couch.
“Come here.”
You were already next to him, but he opened his arms like he meant it—like he needed more.
You crawled into his lap, careful of your belly. He cradled you against him, one hand on your thigh, the other curved protectively around your stomach.
“The baby kicked earlier today,” you whispered into the crook of his neck.
He pulled back just enough to meet your eyes. “You didn’t tell me.”
“I wanted to wait until it was just us.”
His expression softened. He brought both hands to your belly now, thumbs brushing side to side like he was trying to feel her through will alone.
And then, like magic, another kick.
His face lit up like he’d been handed the universe.
You nodded, and he exhaled the kind of breath people only release when they’re holding too much love at once.
“I don’t think I’ve ever been so in love with something I haven’t even met.”
You leaned forward and kissed him—soft and slow.
Your hand slid under his shirt, fingers tracing the planes of his chest. His lips moved against yours like a promise.
He lifted your shirt carefully,, until your belly was exposed.
Then he sank to his knees in front of you on the couch, lips brushing against the stretch of skin just above your navel.
“Hi baby,” he whispered. “It’s Daddy. You keep growing strong in there, okay? I’ll take care of her out here.”
You blinked back sudden tears, heart too full, body aching with love and something deeper.
He looked up at you, reading your expression instantly.
“C’mere,” he said softly, rising to his feet.
“Let me take care of you, too.”
———————————————————————
26 Weeks
The nursery didn’t look like much yet—just a pile of boxes, a folded-up rug, and the smell of fresh paint still lingering faintly in the air. You stood in the doorway with a mug of chamomile tea, watching Jack wrestle with the instructions for the crib.
You stepped inside, careful over the half-unrolled rug, and knelt beside him. “Want me to read while you build?”
“God, yes. I’ve been pretending this part makes sense for twenty minutes.”
You took the manual, flipping through to the page with the exploded diagram. “Step one says attach Panel A to Side B using bolt type—wait, why are there three types of bolts?”
Jack looked at you like he might cry. “They’re identical, I swear.”
You laughed, and he softened at the sound, reaching to squeeze your knee. “Don’t laugh at the father of your child in his hour of need.”
“I’m laughing with you.”
“I’m not laughing.”
“Not yet.”
You handed him the correct bolts—probably—and settled beside him, your back leaning against the wall.
You watched as he slowly pieced the frame together, getting into a rhythm. The room felt warm, despite the January air outside. You two had basically ignored the holidays with everything else going on.
The walls were pale blue now—soft and quiet.
Jack slid one of the sides into place, then sat back on his heels, wiping his hands on his jeans.
“Oh god, it’s done,” he declared.
“Certified by the ER doc?”
“I’ll get it notarized.”
You looked around. The rocking chair was still in the box. The mobile was still in the bag. There were folded baby clothes in a laundry basket in the hall, waiting for a dresser you hadn’t found yet.
But the crib was up.
Jack sat beside you, his shoulder against yours, both of you looking at it like it had just made something real that wasn’t quite real before.
“You okay?” he asked after a while, voice low.
You nodded, slowly. “Yeah. Just hitting me a little.”
“What part?”
You took a breath, exhaled slowly. “That there’s going to be a baby sleeping in that crib soon.”
Jack looked over at you, and his expression softened into something you’d seen a thousand times but never got tired of. That quiet, steady awe he reserved just for you.
“Our baby,” Jack said.
You leaned your head against his shoulder. “You think we’ll be any good at this?”
“I think we’ll be tired. And messy. And figuring it out every day. But yeah.” He kissed the side of your head. “I think we’ll be pretty damn good.”
You closed your eyes for a second, letting the weight of the moment settle.
“You know,” Jack said, voice casual, “we still haven’t settled on a name.”
You smiled. “We’ve ruled out a lot, though.”
“That counts for something.”
Jack looked over at you. “Okay, so what do you like?”
You hesitated, watching the light from the window spill across the floor. “I keep thinking about names that sound solid. Not trendy. A name that would be good for when he’s an adult trying to get a job.”
Jack nodded thoughtfully. “I still like Wesley for a boy.”
You smiled faintly. “Yeah. That one can stay on the list. Even though you heard it on TV somewhere and it has no meaning to us”
“It’ll have meaning once theyr'e here.” He turned his head toward you.
“I think it kicked just now, maybe it is a boy after all,” you whispered, one hand on your belly.
Jack moved to kneel in front of you, resting his palm gently over yours.
“You like that one, huh?” he said to your stomach, smiling.
You both sat with it for a minute in silence. It was the kind that stretched and softened between people who knew how to share it.
“So Wesley for a first name or middle name?” Jack sat up, crossed his legs. “Do we honor someone? Or do we just pick something that sounds good?”
You shrugged. “We still have a couple weeks. I’m sure something will come to us by then.”
Jack looked up at you, eyes soft. You reached for his hand, and together, you sat there, naming the future, one piece at a time.
———————————————————————
28 Weeks
You hadn’t planned on finding out.
At first, it was just going to be a surprise. Something you’d discover together in the delivery room, sweaty and overwhelmed and crying. But over time, the not-knowing started to weigh heavier than expected.
Jack never pushed. But you caught him daydreaming from time to time, talking to your bump in quiet moments, cycling through baby names. Jack had a strong feeling you were carrying his son. Only talked about boy names.
So when your OB offered to write it down in a sealed envelope, you nodded without hesitating.
You didn’t want to open it. Until tonight.
“I want to know,” you said softly, sliding the envelope across the kitchen counter to Jack. “If you still do.”
He looked up from where he was getting dinner ready, eyes wide.
“You sure?”
You nodded, pulse already racing.
He wiped his hands on a towel, drying them carefully before picking it up.
“You open it,” you said.
“No,” he said gently, “I want to see your face when you find out.”
Your chest tightened. Hands trembling just slightly, you broke the seal. You unfolded the single piece of paper.
And read the word.
BOY.
It didn’t hit you all at once.
Then Jack stepped around the counter, reading it over your shoulder.
And everything stopped.
He laughed—but it broke halfway through, a sound caught between disbelief and something close to a sob. He pressed his forehead to yours, arms wrapping around your waist and belly in one movement.
“A boy,” he whispered. “We’re having a son.”
You laughed too, and suddenly the tears came fast.
Jack held your face in his hands.
“A son,” he said again, voice. “I swear I’m going to love the hell out of this kid.”
You ran your hands through his hair, brushing it back from his face as his eyes stayed locked on your belly.
“I think he already knows,” you said.
Jack looked up at you, eyes glassy. “He’s going to know everything. Every day. How much we love him. How much he’s wanted.”
And for the first time in weeks, the future didn’t feel so far away.
———————————————————————
32 Weeks
Your schedule had barely lined up with Jacks in the past couple weeks. But once it did, Jack had plans for you two.
The night went on, chaos as usual. Until 4AM.
He caught your eye in the hallway—just a glance, but you knew that look.
You had just sat down to eat a quick snack when he appeared behind you, voice low, warm against your ear.
“Follow me.”
You glanced around. “Jack—”
He turned, walking away like he hadn’t just whispered something that set your skin on fire.
You followed him anyway.
The on-call room door clicked shut behind you a moment later. The lights were off. Jack didn’t turn them on.
He just backed you against the wall with a hand on your belly and a kiss that made time stop.
“Couldn’t stop thinking about you,” he murmured against your mouth. “You’re happy. Glowing. Carrying our son.”
His hands slipped under your scrubs.  One slid around to the small of your back, the other resting protectively over your bump.
“I love how you say our son,” you whispered, already breathless.
“Say it again?”
You smiled. “Our son.”
His hand dipped between your legs without hesitation, cupping the heat he knew was waiting for him.
“Fuck, babygirl,” he groaned. “You’re always so ready for me.”
He lifted you onto the edge of the nightstand, working fast but careful.
Your legs parted, scrubs halfway down, his mouth on your neck, hand moving between your thighs until your head hit the wall behind you.
“Quiet,” he whispered. “You know these walls are paper thin.”
“Then don’t make me moan,” you shot back, voice thick with want.
His grin was wicked. “No promises.”
He dropped to his knees and disappeared between your legs, and all you could do was bite your knuckle and hope the shift stayed quiet five more minutes.
Jack’s tongue dragged through your folds like he was memorizing you all over again.
Slow. Deep. Obsessive.
Your thighs trembled around his shoulders, your hands gripping the edge of the cot so tightly your knuckles ached.
“Jack—” You breathed his name like a warning.
He didn’t stop. Didn’t even slow.
His tongue circled your clit with precision while his fingers slipped inside you, curling up at just the right angle.
It was too much yet somehow not nearly enough.
You came hard and fast, biting back a cry as your body arched.
He stayed with you the whole way, holding your hips, riding out every pulse of your orgasm like he wanted to feel it himself.
By the time you opened your eyes, he was already standing, undoing his scrub pants with one hand, eyes locked on you like he might not survive another second without being inside you.
“Turn around,” he said, voice rough and ragged.
You obeyed, turning to face the wall, breath still uneven.
He slid into you slowly, deep and the sound that came out of both of you was pure relief.
“God, you feel so fucking good around my cock babygirl.” he groaned.
Your forehead pressed to the wall, mouth open, body rocking back to meet his every thrust.
“Harder,” you whispered. “I can take it daddy.”
He gave you what you asked for. Each stroke slamming into that sweet spot inside you, his body hot and heavy behind yours, his rhythm fast and hungry.
“You’re mine,” he gritted through clenched teeth. “My wife. The mother of my child. My whole fucking world.”
You pushed back into him harder, chasing that edge again.
“Then don’t stop,” you gasped. “Show me.”
And he did.
The pleasure built fast. Frantic and unstoppable. You reached between your legs, fingers circling your clit.
“Ja-Jack—”
“Fuck, I’m close.”
“I’m gonna—”
You came together, your body clenching around him, his hips jerking deep inside as he spilled into you.
The only sound in the room was your breathing, shaky and uneven.
He leaned over you, still buried inside you, pressing soft kisses to the back of your neck.
“Get dressed before someone…
A knock at the door made you both freeze.
“Hey!” came Robby’s voice. “Tell me you’re not doing what I know you’re doing in there!”
Jack groaned and dropped his head into your shoulder, chuckling.
“One minute!,” he whispered. He pulled out of you slowly. “Worth it.”
Since this had become somewhat of a habit, Jack had towels ready to clean himself off of you.
You tried to walk out first. Tried to act like it was just another on-call nap.
But you didn’t even make it to the nurse’s station before the ambush.
Robby stood with a cup of coffee in hand, leaned against the counter with the same smug look he wore anytime he caught anyone doing something even almost against the rules.
“You two owe me new ears,” he said flatly. “And a therapy session.”
Dana, sitting beside him, didn’t look up from her chart. “At least pretend to be subtle next time. We have patients trying to survive, and you two are in there giving the walls a show.”
You felt Jack step up behind you, his hand finding your lower back as always.
“We were gone maybe twenty minutes,” he said.
Dana finally looked up. “You were gone forty-five minutes. And you walked out looking like you just finished a marathon.”
Jack grinned unapologetically. “Best forty-five minutes of my life.”
“Yeah, we all know that wasn’t the first time.” Said Robby while rolling his eyes.
Langdon appeared from around the corner, perfectly deadpan. “If HR asks, I didn’t hear a thing. But if I ever get stuck in that on-call room, I’ll just sleep outside instead.”
You groaned and buried your face in Jack’s shoulder.
He wrapped his arm around you like a shield. “Hey, she needed a break. Doctor’s orders.”
Robby snorted. “Oh yeah? Was the baby involved in that medical necessity?”
Jack didn’t miss a beat. “He approved.”
That brought everything to a halt.
Dana’s eyes widened. “He?”
You blinked, cheeks warming. “Yeah. We decided to open the envelope.”
Langdon raised a brow. “So the orgasm was celebratory?”
You made a noise somewhere between a laugh and a groan. “Can we please change the subject?”
Too late. Dana stood, walking around the counter to hug you with a wide grin.
“A boy,” she said warmly. “God help us all.”
Jack leaned in and kissed the side of your head, completely unbothered by the teasing. And for a moment—amid the chaos, sarcasm, and inappropriate comments, it felt like everything was exactly how it should be.
“Hey, you ready to head home?”
“Yeah, I just need to talk to Robby first. Should be quick.”
“Glad you’re finally taking your time away from here.”
You went to Robbys office where Collins was sitting inside talking to him.
“Hey, you mind if I steal your husband for a couple of minutes?”
“He’s all yours.” As she was walking past you, she put her hand on your growing stomach. “Hey there baby boy!”
You stepped inside and shut the door. “Ugh, this back pain is going to have me admitted soon enough.”
He nodded and gestured to the chair across from his desk. “Sit. Talk to me kid. Whats going on?"
You lowered yourself into the chair slowly—thirty-two weeks in, and even basic everything came with sound effects now.
Robby leaned forward, arms resting on the desk. “How you feeling?”
“Tired. Hungry. Nervous.”
He nodded. “So, business as usual.”
You cracked a smile. “I- I wanted to get started the paperwork for maternity leave.”
Robby didn’t say anything for a second, just looked at you. Not with surprise, he knew it was coming.
“When are you thinking?” he asked.
“I’ll think I want to work up to 36 or 37 weeks, depending on how I’m feeling.
“Think that’s a good idea. How long do you want after?”
“Well I think that 12 weeks would be good enough but, Jack wants me to take 6 months.”
“If you take 3 months or 6 months, you’ll always have a place here.”
There was a quiet moment. He scratched something on a notepad, then leaned back in his chair with a sigh. “You know it’s going to be weird here without you.”
“Don’t worry, you’d have to physically drag me out of here to keep me from coming back after.”
“I know.” He gave a faint smile. “Still going to be weird.”
You shrugged. “You’ll have Jack. He’ll keep you in line.”
Robby snorted. “Jack barely keeps Jack in line.”
“Yeah about Jack actually.” Your tone became more serious. “He’s just been so anxious recently, you know all the baby stuff and now the house and work. I- I need to know that if something goes wrong during delivery…if something happens to me…” You took a deep breath. “You’ll take care of Jack.”
Robby didn’t move. For a long second, he just stared at you. Then he leaned forward, slow and steady, until his arms rested on the desk in front of him. “You think he wouldn’t be taken care of?”
You shook your head. “No, that’s not—he’d survive. Of course. But he’d fall apart first. And he wouldn't let anyone see it. Not even Dana. Not even Langdon. Not anybody. He’d keep working. He’d try to act like he was okay, and it would eat him alive.”
Robby sat back slowly, his face unreadable. Then he spoke, and his voice was softer than you’d ever heard it. “You think I haven’t already thought about that?”
You blinked.
“I’ve known Jack for too long,” he said. “Watched him lose patients. Watched him get in fights. Watched him fall in love with you so fast it scared the hell out of me.” He let out a dry breath. “I’ve already thought about what I’d do. I just hoped I’d never need to.”
“I know it’s unlikely,” you said, more to yourself than to him. “But things go wrong. Even when they’re not supposed to.”
He nodded slowly. “You’ve been on both sides of the trauma bay. You know better than anyone.”
The room went quiet for a long time.
Then Robby leaned forward again, lacing his fingers on the desk.
“If something happens,” he said, “I’ll take care of him. I’ll make sure he doesn’t drown in it. I’ll bring him home. I’ll put food in his fridge and get him to shower and tell him he’s not okay, and that’s fine. I’ll do all of that. As many times as it takes.”
You swallowed hard, eyes stinging.
“But,” Robby added, “You don’t get to disappear on us. You hear me?”
You let out a shaky laugh. “Yeah.”
“I mean it. You’re allowed to be scared. But you don’t get to check out. Not if I’ve got a say in it.”
You nodded, brushing at the corner of your eye.
Robby stood and came around the desk. For a second, he just looked at you—like a brother would. Then he reached down and pulled you into a hug, careful of your belly but not at all careful with his heart.
“I got you,” he murmured. “Both of you.”
And for the first time in weeks, your breath felt like it reached all the way down into your chest again.
You let the silence settle for a beat, eyes drifting to the framed photo on Robby’s desk— a picture of Collins and their child at the beach, sand stuck to their legs, wide grins that didn’t care about sunscreen or the time.
He caught your gaze. “It changes everything you know. Having a kid.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah. You’ll be good at it, though. Both of you.”
You blinked a little too fast and looked down at your hands. “We’re trying to figure it out.”
“You don’t have to know everything yet. You just have to show up.” He paused, then added, “That kid’s already luckier than most.”
You didn’t say anything right away. Just nodded. Let the words sink in.
Robby cleared his throat and reached for a folder. “I’ll email you the HR packet. We’ll work out the schedule. You just tell me if anything changes, okay?”
You stood, placing a hand on your belly with a small smile. “Thanks, Robby.”
As you turned to leave, he added, “Hey.”
You looked back.
“If I hear even one more thing about you and Jack using that on-call room like a honeymoon suite, I’m locking it from the outside.”
You laughed. “Deal.”
And as you stepped out into the hallway, the door clicking shut behind you, you felt a little lighter.
One step closer to meeting your son.
———————————————————————
34 Weeks
Jack stood alone at the supply cart, restocking syringes with mechanical precision. The rhythm of it was almost meditative.
Robby found him there, hands in his jacket pockets, lingering like someone who had something to say and didn’t quite know how to start.
“Glad she took the night off.”
“Yeah she spent the whole day throwing up, almost had to bring her here as a patient. But she’s okay now, just needs to rest for a couple days.”
“You think she’ll make it to 36 weeks here?”
“For the baby’s sake, I hope not. But knowing her and her stubbornness, she will."
Robby leaned against the wall, silent for a moment. “She came to see me 2 weeks ago.”
Jack’s eyes narrowed slightly. “About the maternity leave?”
“Yeah,” Robby said. “But not just that.”
Jack set the last syringe into place and shut the drawer. “Okay?”
Robby watched him for a second. “She asked me to take care of you.”
Jack stilled.
“She said if something happens, during delivery, if so…meshing happens to her, she wants to make sure you’re not alone.”
The silence stretched between them.
Jack didn’t move. Didn’t say anything. Just stared at the closed drawer like it could explain something.
Robby stepped forward, lowering his voice. “She’s scared, Jack. Not of being a mom. Not even of labor, I don’t think. But of what it would do to you if something went wrong.”
Jack’s jaw clenched. He nodded once, like that was all he could allow himself.
“I told her I’d look out for you,” Robby said. “I told her I already planned to.”
Jack finally looked up. His eyes weren’t wet, but they were close. “She shouldn’t be thinking about that.”
“She’s a doctor. A damn good one. She knows the risks. Seen more than anyone should have to.”
“I know, I know.” His voice was rough, low. “I just- I don’t want her scared.”
“She’s not scared of dying,” Robby said gently. “She’s scared of leaving you. It’s not the same thing.”
Jack looked down again, rubbed a hand over his face. For a long moment, he didn’t say anything. Then, quietly: “You’ll keep your word?”
Robby didn’t hesitate. “Yeah. I will.”
Another pause.
“I can’t lose her Robby,” Jack whispered. “I won’t make it.”
Robby put a hand on his shoulder, solid and sure. “You’re not going to.”
Jack nodded, slow. Then rubbed both hands over his face again, this time with more force—like he could scrub the fear off.
“Okay,” he said. “Okay.”
Robby let his hand fall away. “Just- when she needs you to act calm, act calm. And when she needs you to panic a little? Panic with her.”
Jack cracked a faint smile. “You give this speech to every soon-to-be dad?”
“Only the ones who might implode if things go sideways.”
Jack smirked, barely, but it was there. “Fair enough.”
They stood there a minute longer both carrying more than they said.
And then, like always, they went back to work.
Except now he pulled every OB resident he trusted into side conversations. Asked about signs of hemorrhage. About shoulder dystocia. About NICU protocols and what really happens when things don’t go as planned.
He framed it like curiosity, like professional interest—but Dana knew, and Langdon knew, and Robby definitely knew.
———————————————————————
36 Weeks
You were exhausted. Sitting at home all day wore you out more than you ever thought it would.
The kind of exhausted that made you feel like everything in your body was weighing you down.
Thirty-six weeks. You’d stopped counting days. But Jack still looked at you like you were the most breathtaking woman he’d ever seen.
Which, at this moment, made you feel like you needed him just as much as he needed you.
You were lying on your side in bed, a hand resting protectively over your belly, when he came in from his morning shower. Damp hair. Bare chest. Sleepy smile.
“You okay?” he asked, voice low, eyes flicking to your bump. “Need anything?”
You looked up at him, slow and deliberate. “Yeah actually,” you said softly. “I need you.”
He crawled into bed beside you, careful as always, hand coming to rest on your thigh.
“What kind of need are we talking here?”
You shifted, moved with deliberate slowness, until you were kneeling between his legs. Belly full and round between you.
His eyes widened—concerned first, then darkening quickly as he realized where this was going.
“Babygirl, are you sure ? I mean, don’t get me wrong, I want you. But you’ve just been so tired lately.”
You looked up at him. “Let me take care of you.”
He swallowed hard. His cock was already twitching in his boxers, barely hidden.
You pulled his waistband down, freeing him.
Thick and heavy, already hard in your hand. You kissed his tip first, slow and soft, tasting his precum.
He groaned immediately, hips twitching. “Fuck.”
You took him into your mouth, just the head at first, letting your tongue swirl around.
His hand found your hair, gentle, never pushing, never rushing.
“You’re so good at this my dirty girl,” he murmured. “God, baby, you don’t have to…”
You went deeper, and he lost the rest of the sentence.
You worked him with your mouth, your hand wrapped around the base, moving in slow tandem with your tongue. He was unraveling beneath you, every sound he made proof of how much he needed this, needed you.
He brushed your hair back, groaning your name. “I’m close,” he warned. “You want me to?”
You pulled back just far enough to say, “In my mouth, Jack. I want all of it.”
That was all it took.
He came, hips bucking once, his hot release spilling onto your tongue. You kept going, gentle, milking him through it until he was panting, eyes glazed over like he’d just saw heaven.
When you finally sat back, wiping your mouth with the back of your hand, he looked up at you like you’d just knocked the breath out of him.
“So me babygirl. Show me what I gave you.”
He sat up, looking directly into your eyes. You opened your mouth, his cum spilling out of the corners. With his thumb, he guided his seed back into your mouth until you sucked on his thumb. Getting every last drop of him.
“Swallow me.”
And you did.
“I do not deserve you,” he whispered.
You smiled, easing back beside him. “You really, really do.”
He pulled you close after that, one hand on your belly, the other tangled in your fingers.
“Just remind me to return the favor,” he murmured, pressing a kiss to your temple.
You smirked. “You’ve got four weeks, daddy.”
And Jack? He looked ready to make every one of them count.
———————————————————————
37 Weeks
Jack didn’t make a big deal out of the due date. He didn’t talk about it much, didn’t circle it on a calendar or start any countdown. But you knew he was keeping track. He always kept track.
You started noticing the little things first. How your car’s gas tank was always full. How your overnight bag slowly filled itself, snacks, chargers, an extra hoodie he never wore but packed anyway because you liked it.
He just did it. All of it without you ever saying anything.
Sometimes you’d catch him in the nursery at night. Not doing anything, just standing there. One hand on the crib rail, eyes tracing the space like he was rehearsing something he couldn’t quite say out loud.
He rewired the baby monitor so it reached farther. Tested it three times. Installed a soft nightlight in the hallway, not because you needed it, but because he couldn’t stand the idea of fumbling in the dark if something happened.
There was a checklist in his notebook. Not digital—written by hand. Folded neatly in half and kept in his back pocket when he came home from work.
Jack didn’t talk about fear. He didn’t talk about worst-case scenarios, or about what could go wrong. But when you reached for his hand at night, his fingers were already waiting.
One evening, you found him sitting on the floor beside the crib, tightening one of the screws even though it didn’t need it. You leaned against the doorframe and watched.
“You think he’ll like it?” you asked quietly.
Jack looked up at you. Nodded. “Yeah. I think he will.”
You didn’t say anything. You just put your hand over his.
———————————————————————
38 Weeks
You were done waiting. Having your baby in April felt nice.
Every step felt heavier. Every hour dragged.
Thirty-eight weeks, swollen and aching, and somehow still wanting him inside you more than ever.
Jack had been hovering since you took the first test.
You came into the bedroom after your shower, towel slung around your waist, damp hair curling at the edges. You sat on the edge of the bed, your hand resting instinctively over your firm your belly.
“Hey,” he said softly, already reading the look in your eyes. “You okay?”
“Yeah,” you whispered. “But I need you to help me.”
He crossed the room quickly, crouching in front of you. “What’s wrong?”
You leaned forward, lips brushing his ear. “I need you to fuck me again.”
He pulled back slightly, eyebrows raised, lips parting. “You serious?”
“I’ve read every myth and midwife blog I could find. Sex helps induce labor. And if this baby’s ready, I am, too.”
This wasn’t just sex. It was trust. It was the both of you saying: Let’s do this. Let’s meet our son.
He stood to meet you at the edge of the bed.
You lay back on the bed, shifting carefully, hips wide to make space for everything you were carrying. He climbed over you like he’d done it a thousand times but, this was different.
His hands trailed down your sides, reverent. His eyes never left yours.
“Tell me if anything feels wrong,” he murmured.
“Only thing that feels wrong is not having you inside of me fucking me into labor.”
That pulled a groan from his throat.
He knelt between your legs, guiding himself into you slowly, carefully. You were wetter than you’d expected. Desperate.
“God,” he whispered as he slid in. “You feel incredible.”
You wrapped your legs around his hips, feeling full and stretched and grounded.
Every movement was slow at first, deeper than fast.
Jack bent to kiss you, moaning into your mouth as your hips rolled up to meet him.
“You good, babygirl?”
“Better than good. Don’t stop, daddy.”
And he didn’t.
He moved like he was trying to memorize your body one last time before everything changed. His hands on your belly, his forehead pressed to yours, soft grunts against your skin.
Then suddenly—your body tightened.
Not in pleasure. But in pressure.
You gasped, hand flying to your stomach.
“Jack—”
He stopped instantly. “What? What is it? Did I hurt you?”
“No—no. I thi- I think that might have been a contraction.”
He blinked, his entire body going still. Still inside you. “Like a real one?”
Another one followed, sharper. “Fuck,” you hissed. “That’s definitely real.”
Jack pulled out gently, panic and awe crashing over his face. “Okay. Okay, baby—uh—do we call the OB? You want to go now?”
You grabbed his wrist, eyes locked on his. “Jack. Finish what you started.”
His mouth dropped open. “You still want..”
“I’m not in active labor yet. Might as well fuck me until I am.”
He laughed, full and loud, and kissed you hard.
“Well,” he muttered against your lips, guiding himself back in, “if my son wants to arrive in style.”
And with that, you rode wave after wave—of contractions, of pleasure, of something sacred and wild and absolutely yours.
By the time the next contraction hit, you were already moaning into his neck.
And your labor had officially begun.
———————————————————————
Jack’s hand never left yours during the car ride, one on the wheel with one hand, gripping yours with the other. The go-bag was already in the car with everything you could need while in the hospital. Plus more.
You were timing the contractions on your phone, trying to breathe through them, but they were coming faster now. Five minutes apart. Then four.
By the time he pulled into the hospital lot, you were doubled over in the passenger seat.
“Fuck,” you hissed, clenching his hand. “That one hurt.”
Jack threw the car into park and jumped out, rushing around to your door.
“Okay, let’s go. Slow and steady.”
You were halfway to the entrance when a voice called out—
“Hey, that looks like an ‘I just had sec and now I’m in labor’ face.” Robby. Of course.
Jack just flipped him off without breaking stride. “Call OB, she’s in labor. Now.”
Dana was at the triage desk when you walked in, her eyes wide.
“Whoa, whoa—are you…?”
“Yep,” you gasped. “Contractions. Thirty-eight weeks. We’re about to have a baby.”
She jumped up from her chair. “Got it. OB’s on call. We’ll page them. You need a wheelchair?”
“No,” you gritted out. “I can walk—”
Another contraction hit, and your knees buckled slightly. Jack caught you with both arms.
“You’re not walking anywhere,” he muttered, already lowering you into a chair someone had wheeled over. “I’ve got you.”
The elevator ride was a blur. Someone shouted “incoming labor!” over the intercom, and by the time the doors opened on L&D, a nurse was already waiting with a gown and a monitor.
Dana, Robby, and Langdon had followed the chaos up as far as they could. The doors started to close again, but not before you looked back and saw them.
Robby grinning like a lunatic. Dana blinking hard like she might cry. Langdon sipping coffee and saying, “Don’t forget to breathe, Jack!”
Then the doors shut. Hours blurred. Morning into afternoon.
Contractions. Monitors. The deep, low sound of your own breath trying to ground you. Jack never left your side. Even after three coffees and a panic attack in the hallway.
“You’re doing amazing babygirl.” he whispered, brushing sweaty strands of hair from your face.
“I better be,” you groaned. “You’re the reason this is happening.”
He laughed softly, kissed your forehead. “Best thing I’ve ever done.”
Then your OB walked in, checked your dilation, and said the words:
“It’s time to push.”
Jack froze. You squeezed his hand so tight he winced.
“Ready?” He asked.
Jack nodded for you both. “Yeah. We’re ready.”
Your legs were up in stirrups. The pressure was unbearable. But Jack was there, one hand gripping yours, the other bracing behind your head.
“You’re doing so good,” he whispered. “So, so good. You’ve got this.”
Your OB sat between your legs, calm and steady.
“Okay, next contraction,” he said. “Push for me.”
You nodded, bracing yourself. Then it hit. Face twisting in pain.
Jack was right there, voice in your ear. “That’s it. Come on, babygirl. You’re almost there.”
Your OB’s voice cut through the haze. “He’s crowning! One more big push—just one more!”
Tears blurred your vision. You weren’t sure if they were from pain or adrenaline or love.
Maybe all three.
“Come on, mama. Bring our boy home.”
And with one final, scream—you pushed.
And then,
A cry.
“Time of birth: 2:24 p.m.,” said the OB.
But you didn’t hear anything except the sound of your son’s first breath.
Jack choked out a sob beside you, hand covering his mouth as he stared.
“He’s here,” he whispered. “Oh my God. He’s here.”
They laid your son on your chest, slippery and warm, his fists clenched tight as he wailed against your heartbeat.
You looked down and lost yourself completely.
Tiny nose. Your dark hair. His father’s eyes.
He quieted the second you touched him. Jack leaned over you both, tears streaming freely now.
“Hi, baby boy,” he whispered, voice shaking. “I’m your dad.”
You looked up at him, your hand reaching for his face.
“We did it,” you breathed.
He kissed your lips, salty and trembling. “You did it,” he whispered. “You’re unbelievable.”
“Alright, have to deliver the placenta on your next contraction.”
You leaned your head over to the left, looking down at what was happening to the lower half of your body.
Your expression faltered. Your eyes rolled slightly.
Jack’s smile vanished. “Hey, hey, hey, look at me,” he said quickly, cupping your face. “What’s wrong?”
Your eyelids heavy. Your sight of Jack directly in front of you becoming blurry.
“Alright we got some bleeding here.”
Blood. Everywhere. Jack could hear it pouring onto the floor below you.
“She's hemorrhaging!” a nurse shouted.
“You shouldn’t be in here Dr. Abbot!” Said your OB as a nurse pulled your son off of your chest.
“No, I’m not leaving her!”
“Someone go get Robby!” A nurse yelled from across the room.
“Jack..” You managed to get out in a whisper.
“I’m right here. I’m right here babygirl. I’m not going anywhere.”
“N-no, his name… Jack.” you breathed. “Your name. He should know who he comes from.”
Jack shook his head, blinking hard, lips trembling. “Don’t say it like it’s goodbye.”
“It’s not,” you whispered, your breath catching. “It’s for him. Just in case. I want him to carry you forever.”
Jack leaned in, pressing his forehead to yours, tears slipping from his eyes and into your hair. “Okay,” he choked out. “Okay, we’ll name him Jack. Our boy. He’ll know.”
Your eyes fluttered, body growing heavier by the second. You exhaled, barely audible.
Jack kissed your cheek, your forehead, your lips—desperate to keep you tethered. “I love you. Don’t let go. Please, baby, don’t—”
Your eyes shut.
The commotion around you barely audible as you slipped out of consciousness. “BP’s dropping—she’s crashing!” “Get her to ICU now. We need to intubate and stabilize.”
“No, no—” Jack stumbled forward, but Robby caught him, using all his strength to pull Jack out of the room and into the hallway.
Jack could barely breathe.
He didn’t even realize the team pushing your crying baby boy passed and down to the nursery.
“Jack,” he said carefully. “Listen to me.”
Jack shook his head. “She was fine—she was fine a couple of minutes ago, Robby. What the fuck happened?”
“I know. But she’s not now. She’s in the best hands. Let them work.”
“I- I can’t do this without her, Robby. We’re supposed to be talking about the rest of our lives right now. I won’t make it through this alone. I need her.”
“You’re not alone. We’re all here with you. And with her. There’s a waiting room full out there just for you guys. You don’t need to do this by yourself now.”
He lowered himself to the cold, hallway floor. Arms went up, hands above his head, fingers intertwined in his hair.
“I can’t lose her Robby.” His voice broke as he looked up, tears pouring down his face, eyes already bloodshot. “This is all my fault.”
His entire world just changed in the blink of an eye. Because your family just began. But you weren’t there for it with him.
Wooo, my longest fanfic so far! Y’all I had to take so many breaks while writing this.  Also accidentally deleted the whole thing and almost threw my laptop across the room but, here it is! And there obviously has to be another part.
Let me know what you guys think down below please ! :)
Work Crush: John Shen
Tumblr media
(The SMIRK in this gif I CANT-)
John Shen x You Headcanons pt.2
Pt. 1 here!
The two of you are surprisingly professional at work Lena and Abbot are especially surprised at ur lack of workplace misconduct
Neither of you are PDA people so if people weren't looking for it, they would never know that you guys were dating
(except the one time Ellis caught you guys kissing in the ambulance bay when you went for a "smoke break" you don't even smoke and Ellis gave you two shit about it for weeks)
Plus, he was technically your attending so you were both a little nervous about what that would mean professionally (Shen more than you tbh)
There are a few really subtle signs like:
Shen now has a reusable cup for his iced coffee now (every shift it acquires more and more stickers)
He also has started bringing a packed lunch (although sometimes it is just lunchables)
You once accidentally wore Shen's scrubs to work (they were way to big and you tripped over the pant legs on your way to the charge desk)
You started using the word "dude" unironically
You started adding sugar to your coffee (despite taking it black since forever)
The bickering and bad jokes are still non-stop
No one on the dayshift really knows because you guys never really got around to telling them (except Dana, she was told almost immediately by Lena)
This is not really a problem, until you are put on the day shift temporarily to cover for Collins on her maternity leave.
Day shift means you are now prone to a lot more run ins w/ Larry
Larry and you never really went out on that date (which Shen is still smug about to this day)
Nor did you tell Larry about you and Shen (which was a bad idea in hindsight but like, how would you even bring that up???)
Larry is friendly, but there are time where you feel like maybe its a little more than friendly??? but honestly you're not sure he does seem like a generally flirty kinda guy
Shen is definitely not the jealous type so you don't really think anything of it
You hang around later than most of the day shifters because you want to catch a glimpse of ur man before leaving work (but if anyone asks its because you know how dysfunctional the night shift is)
Right as you are packing up to go home Larry approaches you
He asks if you wanna grab a drink by the pub to decompress after shift
You were about to politely decline when-
“Hey babe” Shen appears out of nowhere, greeting you with a kiss on the temple
LIKE ITS THE MOST NATURAL THING IN THE UNIVERSE??
He has NEVER called you ‘babe’ before let alone in PUBLIC
Both you and Larry are just O.O
Abbot thinks this is hilarious so he's snickering about it in the corner (filling Robby in on the tea ofc)
Perlah and Princess are obviously having a field day chattering together in tagalog (They are planning to tell the ENTIRE nurses PTMC group chat)
Larry slips out without saying anything (obviously a little embarrassed)
"Did you want some?" Shen offers you his tumbler, ice coffee sloshing around inside. Cool as a cucumber while your brain is still displaying error messages
"Babe? Where did that come from?" You still take the coffee from him you were starting to really like his sickly sweet Dunkin' order especially after a long shift and your blood sugar was tanking
Ur boyfriend is casual as always. "Dunno, just trying it out"
"Sure you weren't a little jealous?" You wanna get him to admit it. Maybe crack his nonchalant exterior just a little
"I don't know what you're talking about." OFC he denies it. But you can see a blush travelling up his neck
"In that case, maybe I should get that beer with Larry it sounded-" you motion like you're about to go after Larry who's already slipped out the front door. (obviously you're joking)
John grabs your wrist before you're able to walk away
He rolls his eyes before saying "Okay, FINE I was a tiny bit jealous. You're MY girlfriend and he was asking you out, I feel like I had every right to be." He's a little defensive
Normally you would revel in the victory of getting Stubborn Shen to admit something, but instead you just feel all warm and fuzzy
"I wasn't gonna go anyway, babe" You make sure to emphasize the new pet name (it still felt a little awkward in your mouth)
Just before you're about to leave, you plant a fat kiss right on his cheek.
John watches you scurry out, his face getting pinker by the minute
Ellis (who had just walked in) whistles snapping him back to reality.
FUCK he knew that they were not gonna stop giving him shit for the next 12 hours he was stuck with them
-
A/N: Thank you for reading!! There truly is not enough Shen ff tho imma be real
P.S. My Abbot smut is coming soon I promise 😭 😭 😭
When it comes to the 20-week scan both you and Robby turn your phones off.
This one is the scary one, the one where they look for signs of anomalies with the baby’s health and development. Neither of you were able to sleep last night so you’d spent it on the couch with your head in Robby’s lap, his fingers combing lightly through your hair while the two of you watched Superstore.
“What if…” You’d whispered in between episodes and Robby’s hand had stilled.
“No what ifs.” He’d said, leaning over and pressing his lips to your temple. “We won’t know anything until tomorrow.”
It’s ten minutes into the appointment that Robby sees the sonographer frown, he’s had his eyes on the screen watching his son when he senses the mood shift in the room.
“What did you see?” He asks her.
“A VSD.” She tells him. “A small one.”
“VSD?” You question, you voice panicked, your gaze flitting towards Robby.
“He has a hole in his heart.” Robby says, squeezing your hand lightly. “It’s ok though, it’s small enough that it’ll probably heal on it’s own.”
“Did I…”
“No.” He says, shaking his head. “It just happens sometimes. They’ll give him an echocardiogram when he’s born but it’ll probably be gone by then.”
You’re quiet on the car ride home, processing he thinks. It’s easier for him with his medical training, he understands the connotations of an VSD, the stats, the treatment, the likelihood of complications. You on the other hand are bearing the emotional weight of it all because those three little letters they’re just to big too comprehend right now.
“He’s gonna be ok isn’t he?” You say softly, your hands cradling the baby bump. “He’s gonna come out and they’re gonna tell us that he’s a healthy baby boy right?”
“Yea.” Robby says, his voice rough as he reaches out with one hand, his palm gently smoothing over your stomach. “That’s exactly what’s going to happen.”
Georgiana, Evaric and Dawn got along great! They're as close to siblings as any blood relations, and Evaric greatly appreciates having someone resembling a little sister after his childhood of All Brothers.
Evaric and Dawn were already squires at the Lathander temple when the Abbot brought his young daughter home from a far-flung country, and they looked after her with more open affection and care than the Abbot was allowed to. They watched out for her on her escapades and Georgiana used her father's leniency to get Evaric and Dawn out of trouble as she could.
Gia and Evaric have drastically fallen out, as Georgiana went on to swear her oaths as a War Wizard and duty is the most important priority in her life. They don't speak or write, but both know that if Georgiana ever needs help (unlikely as that may be), Evaric will come to her aid without hesitation.
Georgiana and Dawn were pulled in different directions, but both live their lives in service. They are confidents and comrades, if not the closest of friends now.
