one piece drabble | zosan | pride kisses 2025 challenge
{PUBLIC KISS}
(scrapped article from the World Economy News, Sunday Edition)
WINGS OF THE PIRATE KING: BITTER RIVALS, CLOSE FRIENDS — OR SOMETHING MORE?
Shockwaves are rippling across the pirate world today following new rumors that Roronoa Zoro, First Mate and Right Hand to the Pirate King Monkey D. Luffy, and “Black Leg” Sanji, Cook for the Straw Hat Pirates and Left Hand of the Pirate King, have entered into a romantic entanglement.
This story was brought to the attention of World Economy News when an anonymous source sent a leaked internal memo from a Marine base in Shells Town, Yotsuba Island Region in the East Blue. The memo contained notes from an unnamed Marine Lieutenant claiming that, during a personal leave on the Conomi Islands (known former home to Straw Hat Pirate Navigator “Cat Burglar” Nami), he saw Roronoa and Black Leg at the same resort where he was staying. The Lieutenant said, quote:
“It appeared as though Roronoa and Black Leg were arguing heatedly, with Black Leg saying that Roronoa should ‘shut the fuck up and let yourself relax for once in your goddamn life’, to which Roronoa angrily replied that he was trying, but Black Leg kept messing it up with his ‘incessant nagging’. The altercation turned physical and I thought that they had come to blows, but upon closer inspection I realized that it was rather more passionate in nature than violent. I believe this information could potentially be vital in future Marine efforts to apprehend the Straw Hat Pirates, which is why I have asked this message to be passed along to [redacted], and only [redacted].”
This is not the first time that rumors have circulated about potential romantic involvements amongst the notorious Straw Hat Pirates, but while most previous cases have quickly died down when no proof could be obtained, the unnamed Lieutenant included in his memo a photo taken via Cameko. The photo is blurry, but appears to show Roronoa and Black Leg embracing in what we here at World Economy News believe to be a kiss.
If true, this is the most shocking romantic news to hit the pirate world since Cross Guild founders and former Warlords of the Sea Dracule Mihawk and Sir Crocodile tied the knot last year in a private ceremony officiated by the now retired New World Emperor “Red Hair” Shanks. But it begs the question: can the so-called “Wings of the Pirate King” really claim total loyalty to their captain if their hearts truly yearn for each other? What potential dangers are they putting their crew in if this continues? And what happens to the infamous Straw Hat Pirates if the entanglement goes south?
We here at World Economy News will be following this story as it develops and promise to keep our readers in the know with all the latest breaking updates.
MEMO TO “BIG NEWS” MORGANS FROM MARINE VICE ADMIRAL HELMEPPO (153rd BRANCH MARINE BASE, SHELLS TOWN, YOTSUBA ISLAND REGION, EAST BLUE)
Look Morgans, I’m not saying you can’t print it. I’m just saying the only reason you survived with your sorry feathered ass intact after reporting on the Dracule Mihawk and Crocodile story last year is because Luffy intervened on your behalf, but if Roronoa and Black Leg decide that they want you dead for this, he’s not gonna lift a goddamn finger to stop them.

PROGRAMMING QUESTION
hey i got a question about programming languages that i feel like is a very stupid question but i wanna ask it anyway is there a reason besides "easier to learn/more classes available/ect" that most consumer programs/devices/games tend to be written in JS, Python or likewise? Like, I don't know what the actual amounts are for how many things are programmed in what languages, I just feel like most things are programmed in "The Popular Langauges" I feel like I never see a software or device or anything that's just programmed in C (or children) and I've definitely not seen something programmed in Rust in a very long time Maybe i'm just dumb and I don't know how things outside my very limited perspective get coded and I just need a reality check but theoretically nothing is stopping a big company from programming their next touch-screen control panel thing in C, right?
#i'm not counting HTML or CSS#those are style only#i know this is very vauge#look i'm running on several days no sleep#programming#coding#software#javascript#python#c sharp

Oddly high number of my fave fic writers rn: Man, I miss writing my amazing fic so much. Unfortunately I'm working on my doctoral thesis.
#What is this phenomenon? Something in the water?#The Doctor Jason Stans#I'm also doing academia-related stuff rn but not to get a postgrad.#Feel anxiety at the prospect of being the statistical ds guy on one of your research projects.#I never assign cutesy fandom names to variables like some other nerds do but I'm worried somehow a senpai will recognize my coding style#from my commenting syntax on AO3.#More likely I'll drop some nerdy fandom slang when talking. Way more likely.#But you would not believe how my brain slips into damn R (R!!) while formatting basic html.#And that comment is up for all to see...

And that's a wrap!
The inaugural HTML Tryhard 2025 Fanfiction Event Week has come to a close. Thanks so much to everyone who participated! All entries for this event can be found on the AO3 collection.
This year, we had a total of 21 works spanning 24 fandoms. The biggest fandom to participate was Harry Potter, which currently has total of 555,256 works on AO3, and the smallest fandom to participate was Leviathan - Thomas Hobbes, which has a current total of 2 works on AO3.
Y'all contributed to create exactly half of this fandom tag.
The biggest overlap was the Batman - All Media Types fandom, at 3 entries. A majority of entries were the only entry for their fandom. It really goes to show that writers from all fandoms are finding fun and innovative new ways to tell stories.
It's almost like you tried to actively avoid each other.
We only had 2 HTML tutorial entries, but that means we had 19 story entries! That's a lot! Not only did people write chat fics and fancy new-age epistolary stories (with in-universe posts from Twitter, Tumblr, Snapchat, and even Yikyak), they also wrote choose your own adventure stories (with multiple endings!), and works that were completely unique that pushed the boundaries of storytelling.
The event collection will be officially closed on this coming Sunday (1/26), but if you have additional entries to add, just let us know.
That's all for this year. Hope to see you all again next year!
#htmltryhard2025#htmltryhard#html tryhard#fanfiction#fanfic event#done in the style of spotify wrapped#and ill do it again. im not sorry.

Working on my javascript for my web page. Turns out I have the perfect kind of setup to accomplish some of the project requirements, specifically with even handlers and user interactions
My website, conceptually, will load a different employee details page depending on what employee name is clicked on. But I need to load it dynamically (instead of hard-coding it) so that the user can add or delete employees & it'll be able to still load the relevant shit.
So! Only one employee details page, but depending on how it's loaded, it'll load a different employee's information. Still working on getting down Exactly how to do it (I'm thinking using URL parameters that'll read a different object depending on what ID is used)
It's entirely doable. In fact, it's probably extremely common to do in web pages. No one wants to hard-code information for every new object. Of course not. And thus the usefulness of dynamic javascript stuff.
I can do this. I can very much do this.
#speculation nation#i wasnt very good when i got home and i read fanfic for a while#then took a nap. and now im up again and Getting To Work.#i dont have to have this 100% perfect for final submission just yet. bc final submission isnt today.#but i need to have my final presentation over my thing done by noon (11 hours from now)#and im presenting TODAY. and part of that will be giving a live demo of my project website#so. i need to have all of the core functionality of my website down at the Very Least#might not be perfect yet. but by god if im gonna show up to my presentation with my website not working.#i need to have the employee list lead to employee details with personalized information displayed per employee#i need to create an add employee field that will Actually add an employee. using a form.#and that employee will need to show up on the list and have a new id and everything. the works.#need to set it up so that employees can be deleted. shouldnt be too much extra.#and it would be . interesting. to give an actual 'login' pop-up when someone clicks on the login button#with some kind of basic info as the login parameters. this cant be that hard to code.#the project requirements are: implement 5 distinct user interactions using javascript. at least 3 different eventhandlers#at least 5 different elements with which interaction will trigger an event handler. page modification & addition of new elements to pages#3 different ways of selecting elements. one selection returning collection of html elements with customized operations on each...#hm. customized operations on each... the example given is a todo list with different styles based on if an item is overdue or not#i wonder if my personalized detail page loading would count for this... i also have some extra info displayed for each#but i specifically want the employees to be displayed in the list uniformly. that's kinda like. The Thing.#actually im poking around on my web pages i made previously and i do quite enjoy what i set up before.#need to modify the CSS for the statistics page and employee details to make it in line with what i actually wanted for it#maybe put a background behind the footer text... i tried it before & it was iffy in how it displayed...#but it looks weird when it overlaps with a page's content. idk that's just me being particular again.#theres also data interchange as a requirement. but that should be easy if i set an initial employee list as a json file#good god im going to have to think of so much extra bullshit for these 10 made up employees#wah. this is going to be a lot of work. but. im going to do it. i just wont get very much sleep tonight.#that's ok tho. ive presented under worse conditions (cough my all nighter when i read 3gun vol 10 and cried my eyes out)#and this is going to be the last night like this of my schooling career. the very last one.#just gotta stay strong for one more night 💪💪💪

custom tumblr web themes are cool and all but I've never found a single one that I like for my own blog
#like 85% of them do some quirky little formatting thing with the tags. which is fine when people use the tags for sorting as intended.#but I do not.#this is where my posts are 95% of the time. I chat down here.#most tumblr themes turn my tags into unreadable junk.#idk. I don't like tumblr's official theme navigator. I don't like trying to get unofficial ones moved over from github.#i don't like that some of them have really limited customization options (unless you're good at html/css).#I don't like that a lot of them waste most of the page with blank empty space.#I don't like that a lot of them hide the buttons or give things new logos. it's hard to navigate a lot of them.#i don't like that a lot of them are dedicated to style over function.#this whole thing just annoys me 😭 and I LOOOVE seeing them on other people's pages. usually. sometimes.#but when I try to mess with it myself I just get annoyed immediately.#and I know enough that I could fix some of this on my own but I've never found a basic one that I like enough to warrant messing with.

the vast majority of coding is just white noise to me, even the stuff that's supposed to be super beginner friendly like drag and drop prefab interfaces. except for html. I Get html.
#thanks fanfiction archive manual formatting#I've been tinkering with a neocities page#just to like. centralize my various online projects#(including a new page for transcription rates)#it's still Hella Ugly but I've done a teeny tiny bit of style formatting taking a break from audio syncing finally#adding the craft logo to the craft page and getting it centered#adding a sparkle text gif to the homepage#that sort of thing#I wish I liked coding more#I love typing and I love working remotely and I love being left alone#coding work tends to feature all of those#but nope. I've poked at it for years and I can only do html.#and no one needs people who can do raw html from scratch anymore cuz they're all using drag and drop prefabs.#also I did just add my neocities page to my pinned post if you wanna see

ive been using as many sites/apps thru a browser as i can, with javascript disabled by default for most sites and the sheer amount of sites that dont even render anything at all is disgusting, you broke the basic contract of web development
progressive enhancement
you lil bitch
#void talk#its html first#then add styling with css#then functionality and more styling with javascript#i wonder how many sites load in some fucking framework that duplicates so much browser functionality for what is basically a static site

So I know how to code websites now, but idk how to upload it to the internet. My plan is to give you all a post that will update with a string of code to sort of visit the website(s?) that I am curating. I will reblog a post that had the original, and include a more patched version as time goes on. I am so sorry in advance.
Because of this.... Lemme show you how html and css works!!
For Project Our Realities, it will all be in html and css since that's what I'm learning so far. JavaScript will be included later.
HTML and CSS basics below!!
HTML, or Hyper-Text Markup Language is the basics of coding a website. It describes how a website will look. It unfortunately doesn't get you too far in terms of digital design, which is why we have languages like Css and javascript.
All HTML files start with <!DOCTYPE html>. This declares to the file that you will be coding in html rather than something like lua.
Each HTML file, after declaring it as an html file, starts with <HTML> and </HTML>. To end a tag, you must close it by adding a forward slash before writing its name (unless it is <br> or <hr>, or similar).
The <head> tag lets you add a title (silly little tab name), a favicon (silly little icon next to the name of the tab) and ways to link your CSS to the HTML.
An HTML file will look like this <!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
</head>
<body>
</body>
</html>
In the body, you can write the rest of your page, using headers (<h>/<h1-6>), paragraphs (<p>), and even forms (<form>).
--
CSS, also known as Cascading Style Sheets, is a type of coding language that is often used to create websites. No, it is not C++.
Rather than <>, CSS uses brackets {} to code.
CSS is used to style html websites, so it addresses html tags and lets you style their appearance. There is something known as inline CSS, where you can use the <style> tag to style something in your HTML file. HTML was never meant to have colors in its code, but you can change the color of text with inline css. Let's say you would like to style a header.
In your HTML file, it would say:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="(name of .css file goes here)">
</head>
<body>
<h1> My first header!!! :> </h1>
</body>
</html>
Now that we have our header, let's turn it red.
In your CSS file, it should say...
h1 {
color: red;
}
The H1 addresses that it will select all h1 elements. The code in the brackets shows that all those addressed will be the color red.
CSS has no starting or finishing lines, all elements will by stylized with {}.
--
To create an HTML file, you must end it with .HTML
To create a CSS file, you must end it with .css
Sometimes, when I create a link for the Css, the required name for the file will be in the HTML code already. Make sure that both files are in the same folder, and not one in a different folder within the same parent folder. This will not work.
--
Wanna test this out? Make a new notepad file on Windows, title it as "firsthtml.html", and create another file called "firstcss.css".
Place this in the .HTML file: <!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<title> First HTML </title> <link rel="icon" type="image/x-icon" href="https://i.pinimg.com/736x/1a/8d/9d/1a8d9d26cdca15285d217c817f6953ec.jpg">
<link rel="stylesheet" href="firstcss.css">
</head>
<body> <h1>Welcome, traveler!!</h1>
<h3><I>Thank you for reading the tutorial!! Follow the blog to keep up with our news.</I><h3>
</body>
</html>
Now, for your .css file, write this down:
h1 {
color: dark blue;
}
h3 {
color: orange;
}
--
Thank you so much for following this tutorial. I mainly learned about this from w3schools and in my school course. Happy coding!!! :>
