Kentucky Gov Beshear says bill threatens ‘supreme authority’ | Lexington Herald Leader
https://www.kentucky.com/news/politics-government/article303330361.html
I'm not entirely sure what's going on, but a "libertarian-leaning" group (Americans for Prosperity, which has affiliated with a billionaire) is behind a lot of bullshit in many states and is currently stoking the flame war that is our Dem. Governor vs. our majority Rep. Legislature.
Like... This shit is frightening... Especially when Reps reveal just how stupid they think we are.
In a different article on the same subject, the director of AfP (a woman*) said, ". . . We await Beshear's resignation so that he may run for General Assembly in 2026"... which is really giving 'haha you're so triggered right now, haha did I offend you boohoo.' Like... They are trying to run this guy out of office by being as obtuse as possible.
*Republicans strongly believe that women should only ever exist and work in the house tending children. I experience schadenfreude every time a Republican woman gets fired for being a "DEI" hire... It's so stupid it could be funny if not for the entire world being at stake.

Capture - Grayson Dolan [ae]
summary: somehow, someway, y/n was rescued from her enstranglements and open to the world again..
warnings: lil smut & swearing!
a/n: sadly, this is the last part of capture :( i hope you enjoyed this little series! ily, mwah💕
later note: this is now an alternate ending, i am continuing this fic!
part one, part two, part three.
Tumblr media
In the moonlit hours of the night, where the nocturnal animals are out and about, the slight creak of a door radiated through the room of which you lie awake and sleepless in. You didn't dare to move, but rather freeze. You held your breath and squinted your eyes towards the door, where a shadowy figure entered with ease and quietness. "Are you awake?" The shadow of a man calls in a whisper, edging nearer and nearer towards you. You decided not to answer, internally preparing yourself for whatever was to happen.
You had finally given up.
It's been presumably a month since that fateful morning run that lead to where you are now, stuck in a house you've barely ventured. You felt disgusting and a far different person from who you once were before. It's been a week since you've showered, to ward off the man you've named asshole. You've gone blank, almost mute. You haven't talked in days and you don't plan to. But what looks to be a man, in the dark, in front of you had altered your motives. "Y/N, I've come to take you home. We don't have much time." Hands begin to shake your shoulders as the unfamiliar voice awakes you from your thoughts. "How?" Your voice comes out raspy, breaking a fresh load of tears that you haven't been able to cry in days. "Come with me, and be quiet." He orders as he pulls your hands to help you out of bed.
He presses his fingers against his lips, faintly saying "It's okay," to calm your overwhelming nerves. He leads the way, opening the creaky door just enough for the two of you to escape. He smoothly walks down the hall, with you following suit, and through a couple rooms until he opens another door, leading into a garage with an already started black car. He quickly opens the passenger seat and lets you in, waiting until you're fully seated before softly shutting it. You quickly buckle your seatbelt as he jogs around the front and into the other side. He seats himself and immediately backs up once the garage door is opened.
This can't be real.
You begin to pinch yourself, letting your tears run down your cheeks as you giddily smile, watching as you pass the wire fence and roll down the entirely too long driveway. "I'm sorry." The man, who you've not given a good look at yet, muttered. He didn't look at you, but he kept his eyes on the road and quickened his speed. You didn't respond, because you have nothing to say exactly.
"It's not my brothers fault, I promise." He gives you quick glance, his striking features an awfully good resemblance to asshole. "Then who is at fault!?" You felt your anger arise in you, but you hiccup and sniffle afterwards, clearing the fury-filled facade you were trying to encapsulate. "I've been trapped in a room for a month, sexually assaulted, malnourished, and taken away from all the people I love without an explanation. So tell me, who was it?" You asked, a hurt in your voice like the man had never heard before. He felt himself almost shed a tear at your words, shaking his head.
"He was forced to, by our leader. I can't give you names or details Y/N, but I must ask you not to press charges. I'll reimburse you with whatever kind of money you want, but if you fucking snitch, we're all dead. Including you, understand?" The tone of his voice caused your sniffles to hush and your eyes to bulge. Before you could answer, you feel his car halt and the view of your house, seemingly untouched, outside the tinted windows. "Grab your things, shower, and get back out here as quickly as possible." He demanded unlocking the doors and following you up to your doorstep.
You didn't question anything, grabbing your spare key from under the doormat and bursting into your home, the recognizable smell instantaneously calming you.
Wow.
You missed this place so much. All the pictures and nicknacks placed strategically around the place. You wished to lay on you sofa and squeeze all your pillows and smell all the smells that were so homely, but the man hurried you, standing guard at the door as you did all the things he asked, starting with a well needed shower and a change of clothes. After packing up things that you thought you'd need, you follow the man back to his car and hop in, waiting for his words. "Where's your nearest relative located?" He openly questions, starting the vehicle and beginning a slow drive, opposite to how he drove before.
"200 miles away, in a grave yard." You answer monotonously, staring straight ahead. "I figured, since there wasn't any search warrants out." He mumbled under his breath, though you heard. Your hearing had increased very much so throughout the entirety of a month, as well as your sneakiness you'd guess.
"Is there a place you can stay for the next week?" He furrowed his brows in question giving you his full attention the moment he stopped at a red light, where no other cars eerily surrounded. The moment he asked that question, your mind immediately went to one of your closest friends, whom you met in college and have stayed in touch with for the most part. Well, all except for an entire month. "Yes, drive to Belmont. I'll give you directions once we get in the city." You direct with a nod, pulling your knees to your chest and closing your eyes softly.
It's gonna be a long ride..
-
"Please, Daddy, I'll be good!" You beg as you watch him look over you with a wicked grin, his large hand stroking his erected length. You had your legs spread wide open, ready for his touch and warmth— whatever he could possibly do to make you feel good.
"Good girls don't run away." He sternly said, with what seemed to be an angered chuckle. His cold, merciless eyes beamed right into your own, his signature smirk dancing on his lips. He grabs your hips, flipping you onto your stomach with an ease, his hands softly gliding up and down your back. His fingertips alone sent core-aching shivers down your entire spine until your back was arched to his liking. His index finger traced a line all the way down your backside until it delved into your incredibly drenched pussy, shooting a foggy sense of mentality to your brain. He toyed with your folds, inserting two of his fingers at a relaxing slow place that made your stomach twist and turn with glee. You let out a couple sheer moans to yourself, basking in this quick moment of sensation before it turns to dust.
He continues his motions, gliding his other hand further up to caress your breast while he leans his mouth up towards your ear to lowly whisper; "You'd like to have this, wouldn't you?" You bit your lip with a happy sigh as his skillful fingers pick up a little speed, nodding your head for a slight yes to answer his question. "Words, sweetheart." You gasp when you feel his lips connect to your neck, his harsh sucking creating a slight difficulty to speak, as he wanted you to. "Yes, Daddy, I'd love to." It wasn't hard to figure out that he'd cease all of his orgasm creating actions just at your words.
"If only you didn't run away, you could've gotten what you wanted." His gruesome chuckles startled you, making you whimper with need. You look behind to see him licking his fingers with a smile, a smile you'd never forget.
"Y/N, wake up we're in Belmont." The man taps your arm lightly as his soft and soothing voice wakes you from your gut twisting slumber. You felt your entire body shutter with desire for more, and you felt a pooling within your panties.
Did you just have a wet dream about a kidnapper?
You caught your breath and blinked your eyes to get acquainted with the newly risen sun, trying to regain your memory. "What were you dreaming about? You kept saying daddy and shit, kinda hot." He gave you a suggestive smile as he chuckles, all the while your face burned up with embarrassment. You were almost annoyed— no you were peeved that he had woke you up from an amazing, imaginary sex marathon. "Nothing much, just fucking your brother." You shrug with a blank face, a hollowed chuckle emitting from his throat. "Ouch, women." He continues his small laughs, turning into a gas station and sliding right next to a pump.
"What do you want for breakfast?" He asks, getting out of the driver's side with a yawn. "To piss." You yawn as well, leaning back in your seat to stretch.
"I'd let you, but you'd probably make a run for it or something." He twists his body around, letting it breathe rather than being crunched in a car any longer. "Fine, a hash brown." You quickly answer, your mouth watering just to the thought. He nods, shutting his door and locking the vehicle twice. Once he's inside, you quickly scribble something on a random envelope, placing it in his seat before looking in the backseat for your bag. You quickly grab the straps and put your arms through the loops. With one last look at the man, who seemed to be getting your desired hash brown, you open the passenger side door and sprint as fast as possible before he'd notice the cars alert system sounding.
You run as fast as your legs could take you, keeping up a solid pace until you're in a recognizable neighborhood. You could still hear the car's endless beeping, which gave you hope that you'd finally be—
Free.
-
Thank you, for helping me escape. I've decided, within the few minutes of planning my escape as well, that I will not bring any of this up to the police, as I probably should. Yes, I was held there against my will, but I can't say I was exactly unhappy. So with that being said, never contact or try to find/kidnap me ever again. I will carry this baggage for the rest of my life, don't make it worse.
good riddance,

Chapter 25 - Hero Killer Stain vs. U.A. Students
Chapter 24
Tumblr media
"Where are you Tenya!" Y/N heard someone say followed by a blast. The interns followed Baiji and one of her assistants. She wasn't so sure if she heard it right. But she just hoped that it was just her imagination.
"Looks like we need to go there!" Baiji said and glanced behind, "Stay the hell away from the monsters! You don't need to fight it! And that's an order!"
"Y-Yes ma'am!" Y/N tried to make her voice stable. Oikawa looked at her while running. She was definitely worried about something.
"Hey!" he shouted at her, "Are you okay?!"
"Uh yeah. It's just that...I've already faced one of these creatures before. And the name I just heard right now was...of my friend. I can't be sure but he came to the Hosu City as an intern. He's not the kind of a guy who would act reckless but.." Y/N said.
"Stop," Baiji said halting suddenly, "What do you mean you've faced these before? You were in Class 1-A? Do you have any kind of information about them?"
"When the League of Villains attacked us in USJ, they had one of these creatures. It's almost impossible to beat them. Even All Might had to put in a lot of effort and the most he has done is throw it out somewhere far. The only information that I know about it is that it could regenerate and it had shock absorption quirk. But I'm not sure about the ones we saw here. These look different so their quirks can be different too. I'm not so sure." Y/N said, "And these creatures were human before. Their bodies have been heavily experimented on."
"Y-You faced one of...these?" the other girl asked. She looked really nervous and scared. Well at this point everyone was worried. Even Oikawa was a bit shaky after watching all the things that was happening.
Baiji was already feeling like she took a wrong decision after observing the interns. "Okay, we don't have time to lose come on! Every bit of information is useful to us at the moment!" They rushed towards where the fire was spreading out.
Y/N observed the two huge nomus in front of her and the several heroes surrounding it. No doubt about it, they were all struggling to even make it stay at one place.
"Sorry it took us some time!" Baiji said and turned around to face the interns, "I don't think you guys should be here anymore! These creatures aren't something even heroes are capable of taking under control. Get out of here and go somewhere safe! It's okay if you want to help and rescue people but DO NOT ENGAGE IN FIGHTS." She then ran off towards the fire along with her assistant.
Y/N was about to leave when she heard someone yelling again, "Where did you run off by yourself! Where the hell are you Tenya!" She followed the voice and looked at the hero, Manual.
"You're in the way kid! Get out of here!" Y/N heard one of the heroes say. Going by the conversation, some kid was in this mess as well.
"You guys go, I'll catch up! Some kid is here as well!" Y/N said.
"Wait I'm coming!" Oikawa said, turning to run along with her but got stopped as a hand pulled over their sleeves. Y/N looked back at the hand of the other girl who came along with them as an intern. She was literally shaking in fear.
"Oikawa, take her and leave. I told you, I'll be right behind you," Y/N said.
He hesitated for a moment. "Okay, be careful and hurry!" Oikawa yelled and ran, pulling the hand of the girl.
Y/N in the mean time ran towards the voice. In all the smoke of the fire, she didn't notice the guy who was there along with them. But as she came near to him, her eyes widened.
"What the heck are you doing here?" Y/N asked, "Shouldn't you be in Yamanashi Prefecture for your training Midoriya?"
"Yeah long story short, our train got attacked and we had to leave. But on the top of that it's Hosu City. You heard Manual right? Tenya-"
"I did. Iida wouldn't do something so reckless but..." Y/N gritted her teeth and said, "her brother was attacked by the Hero Killer. I don't think he's gonna let it go that easily. We should've talked to him about it."
"We don't have time to dwell on it. Think about where he is right now."
"I think we have a clear idea of where he can be..." Y/N said looking at Midoriya.
Tumblr media
Midoriya was faster than he was before. If Y/N didn't work on her speed like Baiji said, she would've had a hard time following him. He was good in these matters and he knew exactly where Iida might be. They were lucky to arrive at the right time and stop the hero killer.
"Guess I was right," Midoriya said punching the hero killer's face.
"You found him too? But how?" Iida asked, as he was struggling to speak. Y/N noticed a cut on his shoulder and some blood on the ground.
"I saw it on TV. They had some stats about the hero killer. Most of his victims were found where there weren't many people. So in order to find you, I needed to search far away from the panic - in the back alleys of Hosu City. Let's go! We have to get help from the pros!" Midoriya said.
Y/N tried to pull Iida on his feet but it looked like his shoulder hurt a lot. He said, "I can't move my body. Since he got me, I've been paralyzed!"
"That's the kind of quirk people of TV said the hero killer might have. So cutting somehow activates his power huh?" Midoriya said, and soon he noticed another injured person near the wall.
"I'll carry Iida, you carry the other person!" Y/N said, trying to pull Iida. But he stopped her by saying, "Please don't get involved. T-this has nothing to do with you. Listen to me! Stand down!"
"If you really believe in that, then why are trying to become a hero in the first place!" Midoriya said, "There are plenty of things that I want to say, but it has to wait."
Midoriya ran forward to fight with him, and managed to get one hit. Y/N took the time to pull Iida and the other hero far away from the fight. Midoriya needed help, sure, but the hero killer here targeting Iida and the other hero in the first place. She thought he can buy some time and then manage to escape but when she turned around to look, Midoriya was on the ground.
The hero killer was walking towards her with the blade and the only thing she could do is defend and fight back. But it was hard to predict how the hero killer was going to use his sword.
"Get away!" Y/N said throwing some water blades at him. But he was quick to dodge them. She knew that if she used the water prison now, it would make her lose energy way faster. And it would be easier for the hero killer to finish all of them. She just couldn't risk it.
"Move away kid," the hero killer said and started running towards her, "or you're going to be next!!"
"Don't let him swallow your blood!" Midoriya shouted.
Y/N used water from her feet to make the road slippery but it had little to no effect. He was fast and jumped around. Within a flash he was close to her, his hands swinging near her face. And like a reflex, she used her hands to claw at his face, all while dodging his sword and releasing boiling water from her hands.
The hero killer jumped back, his cheek stinging from the attack earlier and then immediately threw three knives at her. Y/N screamed in pain and ran forward, where Midoriya was lying paralyzed. Her eyes moved up, where the hero killer was. She just needed to use her quirk to wipe off blood from the knives before he tasted it, if he managed to get the knives out of her arm. Using her high speed, she slid towards Midoriya. But as soon as she picked him up, the hero killer rushed towards Iida to attack. It could be over in a second and Y/N had very little time to use her quirk on him. But the problem was, if the hero killer dodged, the ones who would get hit were the injured ones. It was either her speed or nothing.
Fortunately, a fire rushed towards the hero killer and stopped him from killing Iida.
"Todoroki?!" Midoriya said noticing the familiar face, "How did you get here?"
"It took me a while to figure out. You need to send more than just your specific location. But you're not one to send messages like that, are you?" Todoroki said, "Everything's okay. The pro heroes are going to be here any minute."
Tumblr media
Iida and Midoriya got freed after a while. The hero killer's quirk can paralyze someone but how long it worked was based on a person's blood type. All of them had some kind of injury, and as time passed, he was getting desperate to kill Iida and the other hero before the pros showed up. In the end while Todoroki was using his quirk to attack from below, Y/N attacked from the top of the building. Midoriya and Iida used their fast moves and strong blows to punch the hero killer down, who was knocked out after it.
"Then we must restrain him and get him to the street. Maybe we can find some rope," Todoroki said.
"Yeah, we should take all of his weapons too," Midoriya said.
Y/N looked at Iida sitting on the ground, staring at them. "Are you okay?" she asked, her right hand shut tight and squeezing his leg, trying to suppress the pain on her left arm.
"Y-Yes. But your arm-" Iida said, pointing out at the knives stuck on her arm with eyes full of guilt.
"I'll be fine. It's really fucking painful but if I remove the knives, I might lose way more blood than this. Besides I don't have the guts to pull out knives from my arm right now," Y/N explained clutching onto her injured arm.
As soon as they reached the street, Gran Torino spotted Midoriya. Soon, other heroes arrived the spot as well.
"Endeavor told us that there was a request for help here but.." the heroes looked at their faces and said, "children? Here?"
"Those injuries look bad. I'll call an ambulance right away." One of the heroes said.
"Is that...the hero killer? I'll get the police on the line!" Another said.
"I need to make a call too," Y/N said and stepped aside taking out her mobile. She called Oikawa on his phone and informed him about it saying, "Don't worry about me. I'm fine, and pro heroes are with me. I won't be able to join you guys.".
A part of her was glad that Baiji and her team was busy in putting off fires around the city. But then again, sooner or later it will surely reach her ears and Y/N had no idea how she's going to take it. Soon, she got a call on her mobile. It was her brother. The media might already be recording about this incident. Knowing her parents and Kyoka, she was sure that they will call her soon. She noticed one notification of a text from Bakugou.
Oh yeah, Bakugou. She forgot about him. Well she didn't exactly have the time to worry about him when they almost got killed by a villain. Y/N sighed and picked up the incoming call from her brother, followed by a voice filled with nervousness, "Y/N? Are you okay?"

Aiden’s Highway to Hell: Watch Dogs/Hazbin Hotel Crossover
Hey everyone, I’ve started writing my first ever fanfiction and I’ve gotten great reviews over at AO3, so I figured I’d share it with all of you, as well! Not sure if I should post the whole story over time or not, but for now, I’ll leave you the first chapter and link you to the full story on AO3. Be sure to like and review! I’m also open to suggestions if you have any.
Summary: After the events of the first Watch Dogs, Aiden Pearce finds himself on the wrong end of a rescue gone wrong and ends up in Hell. His only ticket out? Through the Happy Hotel, where he must repent for his crimes and give up his vigilante ways for good. Only true remorse and a change of heart will be his saving grace. Sounds simple enough, but when he finds an old enemy and some not so friendly demons along the way, Aiden will learn that the road to redemption is long and difficult. Will Aiden be able to turn himself around and live an honest life? Will he be able to escape hell? Or will he be exterminated? What else is in store for The Fox? Tune in and find out!
Chapter 1: Hellbound
It was a cold February morning in the city of St. Louis; a perfect day to start cleaning up the streets and getting back into the swing of things.
At least, that’s what Aiden thought as he got in his car and began to head towards Indigo Drive, where his Profiler was informing him of a crime in progress.
‘Another day, another assault…’, thought Aiden as he floored the gas, tearing down the highway. ‘I’ll get this over with and then try out that new diner. Nothing beats a good omelet.’ As he got closer and closer to his destination, a sense of uneasiness began to creep up on the battle-hardened vigilante. Why did he suddenly feel this way? He took down many an armored soldier before this with relative ease. This was going to be no different.
3 miles to the crime scene.
The unsettling feeling only grew worse. Shaking his head in disbelief, Aiden did his best to ignore the fear. Fear is what gets people killed in this line of work. Although he realized the importance of trusting his gut, Aiden knew damn well that he was merely overreacting. Perhaps he could use a vacation, he had endured quite a bit over the past few months. That’s it, the work was just getting to his head. Nothing to be worried about.
1 mile to the crime scene.
Aiden started to have second thoughts about interfering with this one. He couldn’t put a finger on it, but something felt seriously off. ‘No, I must. I can’t stop now, not after everything I’ve sacrificed’ he almost pleaded to himself. ‘I’ll do it, even if it kills me’. The anxiety was starting to peak at this moment; Aiden could swear his hands were starting to sweat. Embarrassing. How could someone who was so used to dropping the hammer on every person who came in between him and his niece’s killers suddenly be so timid? He NEVER had second thoughts before in his entire life. He couldn’t imagine what Jordi would ever say to him if he could read his mind. Thankfully, he never had to find out. All he needed to worry about was incapacitating his target and getting the hell outta Dodge.
“You have arrived.”
The robotic sound of his GPS snapped him out of his thoughts, prompting him to hit the brakes in order to study his surroundings. Under the bridge, perfect. His target wouldn’t even see him coming. As Aiden exited the car and screwed the silencer onto his pistol, he felt a cold chill blow over him. Gotta love that brisk St. Louis weather.
He powered up his Profiler and started searching the docks where the giant blue circle he had come to know and (not) love glowed back at him on the screen. After around 5 minutes of searching, he finally found his target: a tall, slender man in a black hoodie with the hood raised. It didn’t get any easier than this. Aiden hid behind a bridge support, keeping a close but safe distance between him and his potential prey. The man was clearly not in a hurry; he had no idea what was waiting for him just 10 feet away. As Aiden continued to tail the man, he saw it: a woman and child were tied up and were squirming around on the deck of a red and white boat that was sloppily docked about 25 yards away by Aiden’s prediction.
Easy pickings.
Aiden holstered his pistol and prepped his baton. He was gonna make this one hurt. He pulled his mask up and quickly approached the man. With a few well-placed swings and a liver shot for the cherry on top, the man went down onto the muddy grass with a satisfying thud.
‘See? Not even remotely a problem.’, thought Aiden as he ran over to the boat to free the hostages. He couldn’t help but feel proud of himself; not only did he get to save a couple of lives, he also didn’t have to break his back to get the few joys of being The Fox. That was all fine and dandy, up until the part where Aiden realized he made a gigantic tactical error.
“See you in HELL, scumbag!” came the sharp, high pitched voice of a second person that Aiden didn’t even account for. Before he could even turn around to confront the ambusher, it was too late. There was a bang, a flash of blinding white light, so bright that even the blind would have to shield their eyes from it. It was strangely beautiful, not even the slightest bit annoying. No pain, no blood… nothing. After what seemed like hours of this, he could hear the faint sounds of sirens and yelling, before suddenly feeling like he was falling. Not just falling, but freefalling. As in, going down a rollercoaster with nothing but your own body, hurtling towards a seemingly endless void. His speed and velocity only seemed to be increasing. Holy shit, this was REALLY fast. How was he not on fire from this much speed?
Aiden, too terrified to scream or flail, simply closed his eyes and braced himself for what was inevitably coming. This was the end, he knew it. He should’ve trusted his gut and just went to that stupid diner. For a brief moment, he regretted everything he ever did. The Fixer contracts he carried out, the convoys he destroyed, the cars he had stolen, but most of all, the people he put in danger… Nicky, Jacks… no, don’t think about her again…. dammit… even Lena. For the first time in what felt like forever, The Fox felt tears coming on. The intense speed at which he was falling didn’t even bother him anymore. The regret was heavy, burdensome. All of his past sins came to haunt him one last time before he met his fate. He supposed he deserved it. What a bitter pill regret is.
WHAM!
Aiden felt an impact so hard, he thought all of his body parts disconnected at once. All of the wind was instantly knocked out of him, the beautiful white light now gone. He was dead. But wait… he could still feel his arms and legs. He could still feel pain. So much pain…
All of the energy once within his shaken bones instantly disappeared. He felt like he could sleep forever. Isn’t that what he was doing? He honestly didn’t know anymore. All he knew was, he was splayed all across some hard surface… asphalt? It felt rocky, like asphalt. He tried moving his left arm slightly. It hurt a bit, but he managed to get the appendage out from under his body.
So far, so good.
He tried moving his right leg and was greeted by a tremendous amount of pain that rippled throughout his entire body.
Not good. Horrible idea.
Clearly, he wasn’t dead. At least, he didn’t think so. Also, what a nice warm atmosphere he was feeling. Wait… atmosphere? He was dead! He started hearing other ambiance sounds. Cars passing by, the distant chatter of human sounding voices… what the hell was going on? Only one way to find out. He tried to pick his head up to moderate success, managing to catch a glimpse of a very dark sky and what seemed like a wall of neon before letting his head smack against the pavement-like surface again.
‘Ow.’
It was bad enough he got shot in the damn head, now he had to be reckless and let his skull drop like that. He lifted his head again, this time getting a clear view of what was right in front of him. Aiden couldn’t believe it: he somehow ended up in a city! But not just any city; it was a city bathed in an eerie red fog, with a brightly lit sign around every corner. The buildings were tall and strangely shaped, some tipping to the side, others having jagged edges that jutted out at very peculiar angles.
‘Where the fuck am I?’, thought Aiden as he very slowly managed to get to a sitting up position, every muscle he moved screaming out in pain. After a couple minutes of scanning his surroundings in more detail, Aiden noticed something else: nobody else looked human. Well, they did, but they somewhat resembled some kind of animal or something. He quickly looked at his own hands, his eyes trailing down his chest and eventually stopping at his legs and feet. Somehow, Aiden looked completely unchanged. Everything about him was completely normal from before.
Breathing a sigh of relief, he started to try and get to a standing position. This time around, he managed to get it right the first time. He felt some cracking here and there, which, compared to the previous attempt at moving, was a welcome sensation. Anything was better than pain at this point. Spotting a vending machine nearby, Aiden decided, against his better judgment, to throw himself towards it to at least have something to hold on to.
That didn’t happen at all.
Aiden ended up almost rag dolling right past the machine as he awkwardly plummeted to another painful and embarrassing defeat.
“Well… that went well”, scoffed the vigilante bitterly. After spending another seemingly long time to get back on his feet, it finally hit him: this was no ordinary vending machine. “Heroin… acid… cocaine… molly… what the hell?”
He was beyond confused at this point. A vending machine that dispensed drugs?
Before he could ponder the situation any further, Aiden’s thought process was interrupted by a long scream followed by a what sounded like a laser blast. Adrenaline now kicking in, Aiden headed towards the general direction of the noise. It didn’t take him very long to pinpoint the source: a pair of creatures, jet black in color with icy halos over their head, open firing on some person vaguely resembling a frog. Their laughter was very chilling, half robotic and half distorted with a moderate amount of static. The sound cut through the air like a hot knife through butter.
Suddenly feeling mortal again and terrified beyond rational thought for the first time in his life, Aiden bolted for the closest street as one of the creatures turned to face him with a menacing smile. Heart pounding, Aiden managed to quickly limp a couple blocks before the adrenaline left his body, forcing him to come to a screeching halt under a small overhanging roof, slumping against the wall to catch his breath.
Aiden quickly scanned the building. “Looks like a hotel. Perfect.”
Without further delay, he opened the door, which was strangely unlocked, and quickly hid inside and slammed the door shut. Finally feeling safe, he let all of his weight rest against the hefty metal frame. The air was very still. The seconds seemed like hours as Aiden tried his best to keep his breath under control. He thanked his lucky stars that the place was abandoned. At least, until he suddenly felt something extremely sharp and extremely metal stick him right above his spine, followed by an intense and hostile female voice coming from behind him.
“Don’t move a muscle, asshole, or I’ll end you.”
