Am I, not a good dad? ྀི
“I want mama!” your son screams, tears filling up his eyes—the same color as Nanami’s.
And speaking of Nanami…he feels helpless.
The boy won’t stop crying, won’t stop calling for you. His little face is red and scrunched up, his cheeks wet, chest heaving with each shaky breath. You’d told him you’d be gone for a few hours—explained it gently, with a kiss to his forehead and a promise that Papa would take care of everything. But none of it seemed to matter.
You’re gone and his world feels like it’s ended.
“Please, baby…Mum will be back any time soon.” Nanami spares a glance at the clock, in thirty minutes you’d be here. “Should we finish your meal in the meantime, mh?” He tries, voice tight, panic folding over his usual calm.
But your son only screams louder, fists pounding the highchair tray, tears flowing freely.
It’s been hours, and Nanami has come to the conclusion that : he doesn’t want me.
He stares at his son’s red, tear-slicked face. There’s no hatred in it, just unfiltered, helpless longing.
“I want Mamaaaaaa!!” Nanami flinches. Exactly, the toddler is longing for you.
The little boy’s small chest rises and falls in erratic sobs, hiccupping on the edge of breathlessness.
Nanami exhales slowly through his nose. You can do this, he tells himself. You’re his father. You can do this.
So, he tries.
He pulls out the little wooden train you carved together one weekend. Places it on the floor. “Do you want to show Papa how fast it goes again?” he asks, voice as gentle as possible.
No response.
He tries the animal book—the one with flaps and texture that always make him giggle. “Tell Papa where’s the lion. Can you find the lion for me?”
Nothing.
Just a heartbreaking, hoarse little “Mama…”
Nanami even tries to put on the cartoon with the talking blue bear. The one your son usually dances to.
As nothing seems to work, Kento feels his heart breaking inch by inch. He picks him up despite the flailing little arms, holds him against his chest, firm but not tight, like you’ve teached him.
His son won’t stop. Not even a little. The screams turn into an open-mouthed wail, the kind that turns cheeks purple and voices raw for hours.
Nanami’s hands tremble slightly. He sits down on the floor with the boy in his lap, gently cradling him, head bowed. He’s never felt this powerless.
Not during cursed missions, not under pressure—but here, in his own home, with his child breaking apart in his arms… He feels not enough.
Not soft enough. Not warm enough. Not you.
“I’m sorry,” he whispers into the crown of his son’s head. “I’m trying. Papa’s trying so hard.”
And that’s when the front door creaks open. “I’m home!”
And just like that, your son’s head snaps up from where he’s been sobbing into Nanami’s lap. Your husband doesn’t even have the time to rise to his feet that the boy is squirming violently in his arms, “mama! Mama! MAMA!!” Nanami lets him go without resistance. He stands slowly as your son flings himself into your arms when you appear in the doorway.
Concern is written all over your face. “I’m here, baby. I’m here…” you look up and see Nanami standing a few feet away, shoulders sagging, eyes tired behind his glasses.
“he’s been crying for hours,” he says softly. “didn’t want anything from me. Wouldn’t eat. Wouldn’t play.”
You nod as your rubs your son’s back. “I’m sorry. He’s just been going through this clingy phase.”
“I know.” Nanami offers a tired smile, though it doesn’t reach his eyes. “it’s okay.”
Later, after dinner and a bath your son is finally asleep, curled on your side of the shared bed, clutching one of your shirts tightly, your sent comforting him.
Nanami stands in the doorway, arms crosses, watching the soft rise and fall of your kid. You come up behind him, circling his waist with your arms, letting your cheek rest on his strong back.
One of his hands intertwin with yours. “He wouldn’t even let me hold him,” he says, barely above a whisper. “I’ve never felt that…useless before.”
“Kento…”
“I know he’s still small. I know it’s not personal. But…” he pauses, swallowing hard. “I tried everything. Toys, books, food, music. He didn’t want any of it. It felt like…like…I wasn’t enough. I wasn’t…probably am, not a good dad.”
Your heart twists at the words. “Can you please turn to face me, love?”
He lets out a deep exhale, like the breath hurts to let go, and turns. When his eyes meet yours, you feel like the weight of the whole world just collapsed onto your chest.
Nanami is silently crying.
His eyes are rimmed red, and cheeks drenched wet.
You gently cup his jaw. “You were more than enough Kento. You held him even when he didn’t want to be held. You didn’t get angry. You didn’t walk away. You didn’t even raise your voice once. That’s not just ‘enough’. That’s what a good dad does. That’s love.”
He closes his eyes, leaning into your touch as more tears gather in his long blonde lashes. “I just…” his voice breaks. “I just wanted to be what he needed.”
Nanami wraps his arms around you tighter, letting his forehead drop to your shoulder. He breathes into your neck, letting your sent comforting him—just like his son does.
“I don’t mind not being the favorite,” he murmurs after a while, his voice quiet and raw. “But I hope, one day, he’ll reach for me too.”
You press a kiss the top of his head, pulling him impossibly closer to you. “He will. And when he does…he won’t want to let go.”

⋆snippet:
“Thought you did something there, huh?” Eddie’s voice is low, it hits you somewhere deeper in your belly than it has before. The whiskey sours earlier certainly aren’t helping. “It’s cute, but, come on.”
Volt chuckles, his lips against Eddie’s cheek, and his white hot stare locks on to you too. “Very cute, indeed. Really, spark,” his lips curl into what you can only describe as something dastardly, “did you honestly think I don’t already know his lips better than my own?”
“We could do a Volt and Eddie sandwich.”
The corner of Volt’s smile twitches, and he turns to Eddie with raised brows, hands nonchalantly in his pockets. Eddie’s face is uncharacteristically pink, and he casts a knowing glance at Volt, and pushes himself off the bar.
“Well, seeing as how we’re… closed for the evening,” Volt starts, his eyes traveling back to yours, “I think, something to that effect, can be arranged. Eddie?”
The ice that you’ve come to know in Eddie’s stare is gone, the new spark glittering in it instead. He looks more lively, more excited, more… confident?
“I… wouldn’t be opposed.” His eyes rake over your body, as if finally allowing himself to fully drink you in the same way he drinks his whiskey sours. “It’s been a while since I’ve been up to… enjoying myself.”
Oh, they’re serious.
I mean, you were serious too, but, right now? Right after they’ve just, essentially, come back to life?
But, who were you to turn down a good time?
You clear your throat. “Uh, here? In the club?”
Eddie scoffs, because you already knew the answer. “Absolutely not. No sex in the bar, that’s the one rule.”
“It’s not really a rule -”
“Volt.”
“Fine, fine, not here. Not tonight, at least.”
“Volt -”
“We live upstairs, a flat sort of thing.” Volt holds out his hand to you, want apparent in his gaze. “Shall I lead us there?”
You take his hand, that same spark from the first night surging up your arm, and you feel a second hand, strong and rough, at the small of your back as you head up the stairs.
You realize, when you get to the bedroom, that you’ve… never done this before. Two. At once? Separately? How… exactly does this work.
A thought sparks in your memory, of a movie you watched with Sam, where a girl swindled the two boys interested in her to kiss each other, and ya know, that’s something you might be interested in seeing.
You’re all in the bedroom now, both of them eyeing you, expectantly, though not hurriedly. You giggle nervously, holding your hands to your heart.
“I’ve uh, never done this before,” you admit. “Maybe, can I kiss you? And we can go from there?”
“Of course, darling. Whatever you want,” Volt cocks his head in Eddie’s direction. “I’ve already had the pleasure, so why not give Eddie a taste, hm?”
Eddie rolls his eyes and sighs. “Ignore him, he can’t help it.” He holds out his hand, and pulls you closer when you take it. “But, I wouldn’t say no.”
Eddie’s lips are different from Volt’s, more hesitant, but soft, and gentle as he learns your pace and the shape of your mouth. He tastes like a whiskey sour, and you just want to drink him down.
Volt’s lips find your neck, and you notice he’s slipped off his shirt, and the air hums with the charge emanating off him. You lean into him, his strong arms, and Eddie pulls away to take off his own shirt as Volt smoothly whips off your dress. Eddie takes his turn at your neck, and the double dose of pleasure pulses like a current under your skin.
You raise your hands, find their cheeks, and gently, oh so gently, you bring their lips towards each other, hoping they don’t notice it’s no longer you. You’ll only watch for a moment, you tell yourself, before you insert yourself back in. No one will be the wiser. As their lips touch, their eyes stay closed, and you step back to quietly sit on the edge of the bed.
You watch their lips met with rapt attention, the ends of Volt’s hair sparking with each swipe of tongue you catch. Eddie’s teeth find the softness of Volt’s bottom lip, and a small sound escapes the back of your throat at the sight.
You expected them to pull apart at the unexpected sound, to open their eyes and realize what they’d done (and, not a small part of you hoped, punish you for it).
So it’s a bit odd, you think, when their kiss deepens. When Volt’s large hand, his silver nails, find Eddie’s jaw, and swipe acros his stubble. When Eddie, in turn, half opens his eye, and a titanium stare finds you past Volt’s cheekbone.
Your heart hammers in your chest. This is either going to go better than you expected, or much, much worse for you.
You’re not sure which you’re hoping for more.
Volt’s lips move to Eddie’s cheek, his jaw, exposing more of Eddie’s face to you - both his eyes, boring into yours. He’s barely hiding a smirk.
Oh.
Oh for amps sake.
Because, actually, no. That thought hadn’t occurred to you. Why hadn’t that thought occurred to you? I mean, come on, there’s only one bed!
Your mouth goes dry, your jaw goes slack, your eyes zinging back and forth between pure white and pure steel. You’re caught. You’re so caught.
“I, uh,” you start, but you’ve lost that bravado. “I never want to assume.”
Eddie huffs out a laugh, Volt’s thumb rubbing over his bottom lip. He pecks it softly. “Right. How thoughtful.”
“This is what you were wanting, though, was it not, live wire?” Volt purrs as he extricates himself from Eddie’s side, taking a step towards you in a way that reminds of that tiger feeding you once saw at the zoo. Like a predator. Stalking. Possessive.
Oh fuck, you think. You’ve just fed yourself to the tigers.
Volt’s hands are on either side of the bed next to your hips. Caging you. You can feel the sparks from his hair, the charge in his skin. “You wanted all three of us to enjoy ourselves, yes?”
You nod, and you see a flash of his canine teeth as he smiles.
“Exactly. And we most certainly will. But,” his jagged eyebrows lift, “you thought you could have an upper hand. And, it absolutely delights me to say, you won’t be having that.”
Rough hands are on your shoulders, and you’re shoved down onto the bed, Eddie’s unruly coils dangling over you.
“Eddie, where did you -” you breathe, but one of those calloused hands is on your throat, squeezing just enough to silence you. Eddie’s grey eyes have darkened. Hunger, you think, he’s hungry.
Familiar sparks singe your inner thighs, but you can't lift your head to see what else Volt is doing - you can only feel the currents under your skin as his fingers find the crotch of your panties, pulling them only a little. Eddie only watches your face, how your brows furrow at the teasing, your eyes pleading for something he can’t give. Your hand comes to his wrist, not pushing him away, but needing to touch him more.
“Eddie,” you breathe, feeling the weight of his hand on your neck. “Eddie please -”
“Do I look like the one you should be talkin to?” His brows lift, his stare curious. “Ya know, I don’t even really think you’re in a position to be talkin, period. Volt?”
You feel the man in question hum over the cloth of your panties, already hot, and the literal electricity isn’t helping. “I think I can occupy them, if you can keep them quiet.”
Keep them quiet?? Your eyes widen, but Eddie only chuckles. “My pleasure.”
With limited movement, you’re only acutely aware of what Eddie does with his other hand, until you hear the zip of his fly, the rustle of fabric, and -
Oh, fuck.
Eddie’s cock is gorgeous, veiny in a way that reminds you of the wires he adorns, the head already leaking with pre. You lick your lips, staring at just a few inches over your face, and god, Eddie’s not the only hungry one.
“Fuuuck, Eddie,” you moan, bringing your hand up to try and touch it, but the hand around your throat moves faster, leaving its mark to grab at your wrist this time.
Eddie tsks his tongue. “Not so fast, live wire. Volt wants me to keep you quiet.” His other hand finds your cheek, stroking softly. “So, open your mouth, hm?”
The heat between your legs is getting unbearable, and you whimper when you feel Volt move the scrap of fabric to the side. “Yes, Eddie,” you manage, opening wide and offering your tongue.
His cock is so hot as it finds your mouth, the soft tip and drops of pre languishing over your tongue, you can’t stop your lips from wrapping around his length as he presses in further, further -
A zap to your clitoris makes your hips buck in surprise, and your eyes shoot open - you see nothing save Eddie’s balls above your nose, and another zap elicits a squeak from your full mouth.
Volt’s laugh is feral, his breath burning on your thighs. “Liked that, my little spark? Don’t worry, I’ve got plenty of charge for us.” His thumb presses almost delicately to your bud, making the smallest of circles, testing, learning. “Gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous.” His thumb dips lower, finding your entrance already wet, waiting. “I simply must have a taste.”
His tongue is unlike anything you’ve ever felt before - Ben-Hwa’s vibrations are incomparable to the literal electricity that is swiping over your lips, your hole, your clit - it’s mind-blowing. It’s explosive. Volt works you almost too expertly to be believed, and your brain short circuits when a finger slips inside.
Eddie groans as he feels you moan around him, your hips wanting to buck, but one of Volt’s forearms keeps your hips pressed to the bed. You’re pinned, caged, at the whims of these two men, and it’s making you ache.
Faster than you can remember happening before, your belly coils with tension, your climax growing completely outside your control. Volt feels it too, he must, because he devours you with fervor, two fingers moving at an impossible pace inside you. It builds and builds and -
You see sparks as you cum, as your hips fight against Volt’s hold, as you struggle for something solid to hold to. Your skin tingles, you’re absolutely buzzing, you’re a -
“Mm, live wire,” you hear Volt’s smile as he says it, and he presses a kiss to your clit - it makes your leg shake unconsciously. “You are just too fun.”
You whimper, your body jello, your focus on keeping Eddie’s cock inside your mouth, but you feel him retreat, and whimper again at the loss.
Eddie strokes your cheek again, and you feel Volt climb onto the bed, sitting by your side. His touch slinks up your torso, the side of your breast, your bicep, trailing sparks the whole way.
He hums contentedly. “Good girl for taking Eddie so well, he says, and you flush, and watch him glance up at Eddie, who's sitting back on his knees. “And good boy keeping them quiet, Eddie.”
Eddie’s sigh sounds a bit amused. “You haven’t said that shit in a while.”
“Well, I mean it.”
“Uh huh.” Eddie’s hands reach for the back of Volt’s neck, pulling him closer. “Lemme taste, yeah?”
Volt’s chuckle is cut off by Eddie’s tongue swiping over his lips before pushing inside his mouth, and god, what a sight for sore eyes. The men pull at each other, teeth clashing, and in your blissed out state, you can’t stop the moan that leaves your lips.
Two sets of eyes stare down at you, two sets of lips curling into grins. “Oh, darling,” Volt purrs, “you want a taste too?”
You can only nod, and you will your body to lift yourself onto your elbows to meet them halfway. You watch them share a look, and your arms tremble.
“Open, then.”
You cock your head. “What?”
“Open. Your mouth,” Volt repeats, and you do, tentatively.
“Very good.” Volt turns back to Eddie, pulling his jaw with his thumb, and Eddie’s mouth drops for him. Volt positions his lips above him, and a line of spit trails from his lips onto Eddie’s waiting tongue.
These men. These men were going to kill you.
Eddie hums, and as he bends down to you, his hand trails down Volt’s stomach. You press your legs together, the anticipation sparking back inside you. Your nails claw at the sheets when Eddie hovers a few inches above your head, and you press your tongue even further out. The spit travels from his lips and lands, cold, on your tongue, and your legs twitch, your fists clench.
“Swallow,” Eddie says, voice thick and gruff with lust.
You do.
And they pounce.
You’re dragged up the bed, two sets of hands pulling and pawing. Somehow your bra is off, your panties are gone, you hear their pants hit the floor, and the temperature raises as more skin is exposed. You find yourself propped against the pillows, your back against Eddie’s stomach, Volt stomachs against yours, utterly pressed between them.
“Feel good, spark?” Volt says, his hand at your waist. “Your sandwich living up to expectations?”
You giggle, realizing this was, in fact, exactly what you’d asked for. “Absolutely.”
“Good,” Eddie grunts, his lips on your earlobe.
“We do aim to please.” Volt squeezes your side, grinding his hips against you, his length hard, pressing insistently at where your thighs press together.
“I’ll make sure to leave a -“ you gasp when Eddie’s teeth graze your neck, “a, fuck, glowing Breaker Box review.”
Volt’s grin is back to dastardly, and he grinds his hips harder against you. “Let’s ensure five stars, shall we?”
His hand moves from your hip to your thigh, a spark running down your leg as he lifts it and throws it over his thigh. His cock is pressed against your stomach, and another pair of hands reach around to cup your breasts, and now Eddie’s cock slots between your cheeks.
“Now, spark,” Volt’s voice is low, honeyed, and Eddie’s bites to your neck aren’t helping the buzz in your head. “Who do you want first?”
Best sandwich you’ve ever had.
“I, I have to choose?” You mumble out, barely able to form a sentence as Volt’s eyes study your face. Eddie groans, pinching your nipple to elicit a gasp from your lips.
“Mm, darling, we’ll work our way to not having to.” His fingers dance along your thigh, and Eddie’s cock slides along your skin. “Patience, for now, however. We wouldn’t want to break you on our first outing.”
Oh, but maybe you did.
You swallow, the wires of your mind completely disconnected. “Volt, I, I can’t. I can’t choose.” How could you? Between two perfect, adoring, electrifying men, that wanted you more than the currents in their bodies? It wasn’t fair, surely. They were one, they were yours, but you couldn’t choose.
Volt’s lips turn to a pout, but it doesn't reach his eyes. “Oh, poor wire. Feeling frayed?” He tsks his tongue when you nod. “Alright, no more choosing tonight. Let us take care of you, hm? Just close your eyes.”
You do, and he again lifts your leg, granting full access to anyone wanting your hole. You ache, the air charged and your lips dripping with want. You feel both of them pull away from you slightly, no longer able to feel their lengths, and you whimper from the loss of -
An intrusion of your entrance makes you cry out in surprise, and slowly, terribly, intensely, you’re being filled, and it’s like a fire has been lit inside your cunt, under your skin, in your heart. It burns, deliciously, beautifully. You eyelids flutter when the cock bottoms out, and a familiar, rough hand is suddenly covering your eyes.
“You,” Eddie groans in your ear, “you, fuck me, feel perfect, spark.” His breath is ragged, and you curse when he thrusts, once, twice. “Oh fuck, oh, baby.” He says it reverently, lovingly. Your heart is going to burst out of your chest.
A new hand finds your nipple, a zap bringing it to attention. “How does he feel, our spark? Doesn't his cock feel like it’s going to split you in two?”
In another state of mind, you might want to linger on the implications of that question. But yes, in fact, as Eddie’s thrusts became more frantic, the possibility of you splitting at the center did seem more likely. If Volt holding up your leg was the only thing centering yourself.
Just as soon as you feel your climax building inside you, you’re empty, Eddie sliding out of you, and you grip around nothing, moaning at the emptiness.
“No, no, Eddie, please!” You manage out before the hand on your eyes slips down to cover your mouth. The callouses on his hands are harsh against your lips, and you barely manage out a moan of protest before something new slips inside you, long and hot and slipping in so nicely. Moans of protest quickly turn to acceptance, and Volt’s cock is just so easy to accept.
“Oh sweet amp.” Volt’s usually collected voice is shaky as he works his way inside you, taking his time much to your distress. “Live wire, I - we -”
“You,” Eddie breathes in your ear, “you might’ve been made for us.”
Ah.
That’ll do it, then.
You hardly even feel the build up, the spiringing coil, all you know if you’re cumming, you’re gushing without abandon on Volt’s cock, and tears spring to your eyes when they both curse, and Volt’s pace quickens. Eddie’s hand leaves your mouth, finding your neck again, controlling your air like he controls the very power of your home. Your body is slack, offering neither of them resistance, given over to the fire inside your belly, the weight of their hands, their control of your cunt.
You feel Volt slip out, and now Eddie is back inside you. The tears spill over your cheeks, and an electric tongue licks them up. Almost as quickly as you adjust to Eddie, he’s gone, and Volt is back, then Eddie, then Volt, until you’re no longer cognizant of the difference.
Eddie’s breath is erratic. “I’m, fuck, I -”
“Me too, darling,” Volt huffs. “Where -”
“S, stomach,” you moan. “Both, both, please.”
You’re on your back, your body liquid, but you open your eyes enough to watch their hands find each other’s lengths, pump once, twice, and then groan together as their cum lands on your skin, singeing like the flame of a candle.
It’s a haze, what comes after. They’re kissing your cheeks, tucking your hair, singing what you guess are your praises in your ear. Volt’s voice is distant, but you hear how he calls you a good girl, while Eddie wipes away their spend with a towel from his discarded pants.
You’re between them again when you return to earth, kisses peppered on your shoulder, tingles along your arms. It’s better than any dream, but somehow, you know it won’t disappear.
“Back with us, spark?” Eddie whispers when your eyes flutter open.
You smile softly, hum contentedly. “Always.”
“Very good,” Volt’s lips press to your collarbone. “You took everything beautifully, live wire. Our good girl. Our spark.”
You sigh, rolling onto your back, and find their cheeks with your hands. “You boys,” you smile, gaze flicking between them. “I love you.”
Steel meets white, then both meet you. “We love you too, little wire.”

Pins and Needles
Lando X Bff!Fewtrell!Reader
Summary: Y/N doesn't know where she and Lando stand anymore. Their once-tight friendship soon started to tear at the seams.
Warning(s): just pure angst, Lando being toxic (sorry y'all), making out, Charles Leclerc incoming, depression, lack of self-worth
A/N : I can't help myself y'all ok 🥲 This one is gonna hurt, I'm sorry but also not sorry. Enjoy 🙂 (Written and inspired by Nessa Barrett's song Pins and Needles)

Hand on the stove, I barely feel it
And when I let go, I'm already healing
This was not how it was supposed to go.
How it was supposed to wind up.
Y/N didn't even know how she got herself into this situation.
Deep down, she knew exactly how she got herself into this situation, she just didn't want to admit to it.
It started when one drunk night at the club in Monaco led to her becoming tangled up in her best friend's sheets, whispering sweet nothings to one another. The sly touches as the sun crept through the blackout curtains the next morning.
That was when their situation bloomed. Things had become messier between Lando and Y/N.
Little did Y/N realize just how deep she had fallen for the man she had known almost her entire life. He was comfortable. Familiar. Trustworthy.
At the start.
Things at the beginning were smooth. Nothing but absolute lust, addiction, and hunger. It rose and rose, some moments almot becoming reckless.
They couldn't keep their hands off one another. From sneaking around the paddock, to the club bathrooms, to the bedroom next door to Max's. It became reckless. Animals in heat. The craving was insatiable.
The pair didn't know if the sneaking around made them this way, or the fact that it was supposed to be a forbidden relationship. Max would've had Lando's head. He'd have six feet under the ground.
She didn't mean to fall more in love with the boy. She thought it would be harmless. Her feelings would subside. Not do the complete opposite and skyrocket. The way he had begun to treat their little situationship as if they were together is what got her the most.
He made her feel like she was the only one.
Till he slowly became more sloppy. Bailing out on plans more often, leaving her high and dry while saying something came up. The distance became clearer. It was the late-night visits that were only making a daily appearance. No talking, just becoming tangled in the bedsheets.
Their friendship had begun to fade out, only turning into meaningless sex. At least that's what she believed.
She never understood why. What had she done for him to pull away slowly? What was she missing?
Y/N couldn't tell anyone, as she didn't have anyone she told about it. Not trusting a single soul to keep it quiet if things got tricky. Especially not when Max had no idea of what was happening behind closed doors.
When he began to ask why her mood had become more glum, as if she had almost faded. She just used the excuse of lack of sleep, or was just having one of those days.
He didn't question it, only gave her a lingering look, then didn't push further. He knew better.
It wasn't long till she found out why. Why Lando pulled away from her, let their friendship fade out, as well as their late night hookups.
They say your name, I don't even hear it
You dug your own grave, and nobody's grieving
The articles all read and show him with a new girl, a blonde model and actress. She was pretty. His type, too. He looked happy, a genuine smile on his lips as he looked at her.
That's when she noticed the way her chest tightened, crashed in on itself.
He had been seeing this girl, Magui, she thinks her name was, without saying a thing to her. She thought they were close enough that he would've been honest. He has never lied to her. In all the years she had known him, it wasn't something he did.
She remembered when she found out, she sat there trying to figure out what to say to him. Her first message sounded angry. Hurt, betrayed, lost, and confused.
Instead, she clicked the power button off, thinking it was best to not say a word. Instead, she let it fade away. Let him fade away.
There had been a day Y/N was at her brother's, sitting on the barstool while he cooked food with Pietra.
"Is she nice?" she asks, hinting at Lando's new girl. Max looked at her with an unsure gaze, shrugging his shoulders.
"From what I can tell, yeah," he answers. "Still a bit skeptical about her, though. About her past, mainly. Everything is still unclear about what happened between her and Luisna. Lando won't really talk about it."
She nods, deciding not to push any further, picking at the food on her plate.
"Have you heard from him lately?" Pietra asks this time. "I haven't seen you two around one another lately. Usually it's hard to pull you both away from the other," she tries to joke. Max looked back at his sister with just as curious of a look.
"You two haven't been talking?" he asks, Y/N just shrugs.
"Not really," she admits. "Always says something's come up. It's fine, I'm not gonna push it. He's happy."
Max looks at her with a little bit of shock on his face. "You two have been close for years. Closer than him and me, why would he just push you away?"
Y/N knew the real answer to it, but she couldn't give that away. As she knew Max would lose his shit if he knew. Lando would be lucky to leave the brawl with a head on his shoulders if Max found out.
So instead, the girl just shrugs. "Don't know. Just assumed maybe he doesn't want to make things look weird with his new girl. Probably doesn't want her to think anything else."
Max scoffs playfully at that, pouring his eggs onto his own plate. "Trust me, if there was more, I would've known. She wouldn't have had anything to worry about. He'd have a lot more to deal with if that were the case."
She just stays silent, Pietra sensing the awkwardness in the room, deciding to change the subject.
Shot my heart with Novacane
Ice-cold, cut off my blood flow
It had turned into hearing from Lando every other week, and maybe seeing him when he came to help with collabs for Quadrant. When the pair would be streaming with the other streamers, he wouldn't so much as acknowledge her in the chat.
It would be short answers if anything.
Her chest burned every time she made eye contact with him, the gazes between the pair always having something between them. Something she couldn't quite explain.
It wasn't until she had been dragged out to a race day with Max and P, that she could feel the need to hide away in a corner for the rest of her life.
She kept her distance whenever Lando would come around, the boy not missing the way she would excuse herself when he came by.
He should've known.
He caused the tension between them. He pulled back when he only wanted to get closer to her.
He found another girl while in denial of how deeply in love he was with his homeboy's sister, and his best friend. Magui was his way out. His escape from his reality. Even if it wasn't the right way.
He had to let Y/N go, even if it meant he couldn't be in her life anymore.
At least that's what he told himself.
You think you're important,, boy, I've got bad news
You're mean and you're boring, they'll all forget you
Y/N had been standing over by the motorhomes, sipping on the coffee in her hand, when she felt someone bump into her back. The sip had turned into a mess, dripping down onto her white tube top she wore on the hot day.
She turned around to meet the eyes of a familiar Monégasque man, who looked at her in horror. "Shit, Y/N I am so sorry," he nervously chuckles, his eyes seeing the new stain on her top. "I should've been more careful. I was so caught up in the conversation I-"
"Charles," she giggles, making him look at her. "It's okay. At least it wasn't a hot coffee, yeah?"
He snorts while rubbing the back of his neck. "Now that I definitely would've never heard the end of."
She chuckles. "You still won't hear the end of this one," she jokes, making him give her a genuine smile before chuckling back at her. He motions to her shirt.
"At least lemme help get you a new top? I can't bear the thought of you having to be stuck with explaining how the stain came about."
"Ahhh I see you want to protect your perfect image, I suppose?" she tuts playfully, making him widen his eyes.
"What? No I meant like it would probably be annoying having to say the story a thousand times, or you could get weird looks from people, or-"
"Oh my goodness, Charles! I'm joking," she laughs while putting her hands on his shoulders. She watches him visibly relax at her touch and her words, rubbing his hand over his face.
"Sorry, I just," he chuckles breathlessly. "You make me nervous, is all."
She raises her brows, a small smirk on her lips. "Oh, I do now?"
He rolls his eyes with a groan. "I'm never gonna hear the end of this."
She hums. "I didn't know I made the famous Ferrari driver nervous," she jokes while crossing her arms and giving him a knowing look.
His eyes flicker down from her eyes to her lips for a split second, then he smiles at her. "A little."
"A little?"
He purses his lips. "Okay a bit more than a little."
She laughs at his little confession, Charles pinching her waist as he pulls her with him. "You can give me shit later," he laughs. "But right now let's go get you changed into something that doesn't have a stain on it."
She lets him drag her along to the Ferrari paddock, in search of Rebecca and Carlos, knowing the WAG always had a backup set of clothing on her when need be.
Once Charles had found them, he explained the situation, watching as Rebecca lit up and happily said she'd lend a helpful hand.
Y/N followed the girl, keeping up the small talk as they made their way to the Ferrari motorhome, where Rebecca had a cute top waiting for Y/N.
She knew she wouldn't hear the end of it, the color of the top being a bright Ferrari red. It was a one-shoulder cropped tank top, the color sitting beautifully on her skin. Rebecca gave her a low whistle, causing Y/N to chuckle and roll her eyes.
"Red looks so good on you," she says, making Y/N shrug. Rebecca gives her a knowing look, but says nothing as the pair made their way back to the paddock.
Charles did a double take when she returned, his eyes taking in the red top that adorned her skin.
He smiled as he walked up to her. "Red is your color I think," he says, making her roll her eyes.
"Rebecca said the same thing," she answers, watching him nod. "She's never wrong."
Y/N thanks Rebecca one more time, alongside a hug. "Think about it," Rebecca whispers into the girl's ear before pulling away with a wink.
Charles then walks Y/N back over to the McLaren paddock where her brother and P sat. Max frowned at his sister. "I've been looking for you. Where did you run off to?" his eyes then dart to the new top she was wearing, then back to Charles. He gave Max a look.
"I bumped into her and thought I could help her get a new top," he explains. "I felt bad. So blame me for stealing her. Sorry, mate."
Max chuckles while nodding. "Of course it's a red top too," he jokes, Charles ears turning bright red, he puts his hands up in defense.
"Blame Rebecca for that one," he sputters, Max doing a once-over with a smug smirk while nodding slowly. "Uh-huh," Max trails off. "Well, thank you for helping her out," he says, a smug smirk only getting wider.
Charles nods curtly, before facing Y/N with a small smile, and squeezes her side. "Good seeing you, cherie," he mutters to her, kissing her cheek before he leaves her. Y/N realizing her side feeling slightly colder than it did when his hand was there.
She turns to watch him leave and head down the stairs, biting her lip without realizing it. Her head turns back to face her brother and Pietra.
The pair is staring at her with smug and knowing smiles. Max leans back in his seat, crossing his arms and clearing his throat.
Y/N squints her eyes at them. "What?" Watching her brother nod at her.
"Someone has a crush."
She scoffs at her brother. "You're reading into things," she chuckles while shaking her head.
Pietra laughs. "Oh, honey, no. You two were staring at each other like you want to-"
"Don't even say what you're going to say," Max whines, covering his face. "I don't need to hear that."
Y/N just laughs, pointing at Pietra. "You're wrong on top of that."
Pietra rolls her eyes with a smirk, and before she can argue further, Lando is seen walking up to the group, making Y/N want to fade away.
Lando sees her, only doing a double-take when he sees the color of her shirt, also realizing that this was indeed not the color she was wearing earlier. He slowly points at her shirt, Max chuckles.
"Dear old Ferrari man has a crush on my sister," Max admits, then points at her. "She's crushing on him as well."
"Maxwell!" Y/N hisses, watching him crack up. She doesn't miss the way Lando's facial expression drops, something unreadable in his expression.
"What d'you mean?" he asks slowly. Y/N groans while hiding her face.
"What he means," Pietra starts. "Charles spilled coffee on her and helped her get a new shirt. And apparently that was his chance to get her in red."
Lando's eyes snapped down to Pietra, Max just sitting there in a fit of giggles as his sister kicks his shin.
"He was just being helpful," Y/N grumbles. "Besides, Rebecca was the one who gave it to me. Not Charles."
Max looks back at her. "Sure, we know that," he says between laughs. "But the eye fucking you two were doing before he left said more than that. Especially that little kiss move-"
"He kissed you?" Lando cuts in, his tone sharp and stern. Max and Pietra look at him with certain looks. His head and eyes only focused on Y/N in that moment, who was now shifting on her feet with her arms crossed.
"It was just on the cheek," she rolls her eyes before glaring at Max. "Stop making it sound like he laid me out on the table or something," she hisses, making Lando choke on his spit while Max gagged.
"That's vile, do not ever say that again," he points at his sister with a disgusted look. "Second, I'm only saying it because I think you two would be good together."
That makes her eyes widen in shock, watching him put his hands up in defense.
"Say what now? I thought you said no racers."
He hums with a nod before pointing out to Lando. "Yeah, I said that mainly for that one," he says, missing how his mate clenched his jaw. "Charles, on the other hand? I hope it does happen. He's one of the good ones."
Y/N coughs awkwardly, not missing the way Lando scoffed at his best friend's words, mumbling something under his breath as he crossed his arms.
"Can we just change the subject, please? I'm not crushing on Charles, and I'm not going to date him."
Max gives her a knowing look before turning his gaze towards Lando. He frowns. "You good, mate?" he asks, watching as Lando snaps his gaze at Max. He nods curtly.
"Just don't care to hear about her sex life, you muppet. Charles is a player and only wants what he can't have," he admits, not missing the way Y/N glared straight to the side of his face. "Anyways, we're getting ready to start. I was gonna walk you lots to the club level."
Max nods before taking Pietra's hand to guide her. Lando kept his pace next to Y/N's, the girl not missing how his hand would brush against hers every so often.
She could see the gears turning in his head, clenching his jaw every so often, as if he was preventing himself from saying or doing something he might regret. Max and Pietra were further ahead of them, happily making their way to the balcony in the club level of the paddock, overlooking the racetrack.
"He can't give you what I can," the brit says next to her, causing her to snap her gaze at him with a frown. She scoffs.
"That's awfully daft, coming from you," she shoots back. "You ghosted me, remember? You don't have a say in my actions."
"Oh, so you are seeing Leclerc huh?"
She scoffs. "Go check on your girlfriend, Norris. The one you dropped me for."
He glares at her. "Y/N-"
"End of discussion, Lando."
She walks away, a part of her wanting him to grab her and pull her back. Show her she was his. Even if it was behind closed doors. The other part of her was happy he didn't. She wanted him to see that he couldn't have her. He missed the opportunity.
Don't call me your ex, 'cause I never met you
She kept close to her brother and P the entire race, zoning out the entire time the race went on.
Her mind didn't know what to think.
She missed Lando. She really did.
The other part of her though, was also pulling towards Charles.
Y/N couldn't tell if it was just because of how Lando reacted, or because of how she felt a new feeling whenever Charles was near her.
Or how she caught her stare lingering longer on Charles as he took P2. Or how his eyes found hers in the crowd, staring back at her, his smile becoming wider when he saw she was staring first.
It's all pins and needles, babe
I feel nothing for you, nothing for you
Now, here she stood, in the VIP section of the Monaco club after Lando placed P1 at his home race.
She had a drink in her hand, pretty sure the glass could break under her grip. Her eyes did not leave the way his hands and body moved with the blonde on the dancefloor.
At this point she couldn't tell if she was jealous, or pissed off. Or both.
She watched as his hands moved along her body, how his lips never left her body as they danced. He looked like a wet dream.
"You hold onto that glass any tighter, it's gonna shatter and cut up that pretty hand," a familiar French accent says next to her. Her eyes snap out of the daze, turning to see Charles taking the spot next to her.
He nods at her slowly. "You alright, cherie?" he asks her, making her laugh to herself before spinning a finger around the rim of her glass.
"Honestly, I don't know," she admits, looking back at his confused frown. "Can I be honest?"
"Always."
She sighs. "I had been seeing this guy. We weren't anything exclusive, but at the same time, it felt like it. Then out of nowhere, he just stops. No explanation, no excuses, nothing. Just drops me like I'm nothing," she explains, letting a bitter chuckle leave her lips.
"Then I found out it's because he had another girl. I don't even know how long. It was just out of the blue, and I guess I shouldn't have been as upset as I was about it. But I can't help it."
Charles takes in every word she's saying, nodding and humming at the appropriate times.
"It burns my chest seeing them, seeing him, act like I never even mattered," she admits. "But then, I began to realize something else. There's this other guy. I didn't even realize I felt good around him. Like I could relax around his presence. Forget about why I was so hurt about the other guy," she explains, not even realizing how easy it had become to open up to Charles.
The way his expression showed no judgment. No sense of uneasiness as she spoke. Just a genuine expression that showed he was listening to her.
"And part of me wanted this guy I was seeing," she says more to herself. "But a bigger part of me really wants this guy that makes me feel seen. Heard."
Charles nods at her, taking a sip of his drink. "You alright if I give you my advice?" he asks cautiously.
She nods. "Always," she copies his words, making him grin at her.
He points at Lando. "He's an idiot for letting you go," he admits, watching her face contort to confusion, and then to shock before shaking her head.
"I didn't- How did-"
He laughs at her, stepping closer. "It's not hard to see. You two weren't as slick as you thought," he admits, Y/N feeling her face begin to heat up.
"I'm sorry," she admits with a sigh, looking down at her now-empty glass. "I didn't mean to sound like that. I just- I didn't have anyone I trusted to talk to."
"And I'm just easier to talk to? Someone you trust?" he asks her, leaning his elbow on the bar behind them, a knowing smirk on his lips. She snaps her head to him.
As she was about to say something, he stood up straight, walked to stand in front of her, and took the glass from her fingers. She doesn't miss the way his fingers brush hers, goosebumps rising on her skin. He places the glass on the mahogany behind them, his eyes lowering to her own. She gulps as she watches his smirk widen just slightly, while he places both hands on the bar behind her, caging her in. His face was dangerously close to hers, the Monégasque not missing the way her breaths came out shaky.
"As for this other guy," he starts, his tone lower. Darker. "I think he's very worth your time. He wouldn't make you feel like Lando did. He'd take care of you. Treat you right. Show you how a woman like you should be worshipped."
Y/N feels her pulse quicken. "Besides," he mutters, bringing his lips closer to her own. "If you're choosing between two people, choose the second. Because if you really did like the first option, you wouldn't have fallen for the second."
That got Y/N's insides churning, knowing deep down Charles was right. He was so right.
He chuckled darkly as he watched his chest rising and falling quicker after he said that, placing his lips closer to her ear as he placed a light kiss against the lobe. "The second guy also just really wants to be selfish," he admits.
Y/N smiles slowly at his words, letting herself indulge slowly with Charles. She lets out a gasp as she feels his lips planting feather-light kisses from her jawline, down to her neck and her collarbone.
She finally trails her hands up his button-up, slipping underneath the half-open shirt, slithering to rest on the bare skin of his back just before it meets the crook of his neck. His head leaves her neck, bringing his head closer to her own.
"So this other guy," she says breathlessly. "You think he'd worship me, huh? Show me how worth it I am?"
He hums with a nod, kissing the corner of her lips. Y/N found herself craving more, her body aching for his own against hers. Skin to skin.
"He'd do more than just that," he chuckles against her jaw. "He'd take his time with you. Show you exactly how a woman like you should be appreciated. Till you're shaking."
Y/N lets out a breathless moan at that, one of her hands finding his hair. "Spoil you to death. Treat you like the absolute Queen you are."
Charles brings his head back up to really look at her. Y/N staring back into his own eyes, flicking down to his lips for a split second. "Charles," she says softly, earning a hum from him. "Kiss me please."
That's all it took for Charles to take her jaw in his hands, placing a passionate and messy kiss on her lips. Their teeth clashed, tongues messily battling against one another as she kissed him with such need. Such obsession.
The more they kissed, the more they craved one another. Charles let his hands fall from her jaw to her hips, pulling her lower body into his.
Lando was long forgotten in Y/N's mind. He was the last thing she was thinking of; she could forget his name if Charles kept up the way he touched and kissed her.
Little did she realize, Lando was now frozen in his spot on the floor. His eyes darkened. He glared as he watched the girl his heart yearned for, and the guy who was going to be six feet under if looks could kill.
He could tell it wasn't just for show either. She really wanted Charles. Charles wanted her.
He only knew that because of how she was kissing Charles, it was the way she used to kiss him. His heart hurt, chest tightened. He couldn't tear his eyes away from the scene across the club.
Magui was long forgotten in that moment, Lando realizing he lost the girl he wanted most.
He should've known.
Y/N whines at the loss of Charles' lips when he pulls back, the man looking down at her blown-out state. Her lips swollen as her eyes look up at him with a knowing look.
"What do you say, cherie?" he says slowly, watching her slowly smile.
"I think I'm open to giving this other guy a chance," she jokes, watching him bite his lip to hide the big ear to ear smile that was forming.
He leaned down to kiss her once more, before breaking away and lacing a hand with hers.
Charles began to lead her away from the bar, his gaze locking with Lando's as they passed by.
He didn't miss the way Lando slightly mouthed a 'what the fuck' at his friend, a glare in his direction. Charles held his head up high, smirking at Lando, giving him a sly little wink before he turned his attention to Y/N.
Lando saw the way her eyes looked up at Charles, like she finally felt happy. At ease in his presence. Like she had forgotten Lando existed in that moment. She probably did, and that hit him like a truck.
He watched as Charles placed his other hand on her lower back to help keep her next to him as they pushed through the crowd, making sure not to lose her as they headed out.
Lando didn't even excuse himself from Magui, earning a shocked squeak from her as she watched him rush away from the dancefloor.
Lando scurried past everyone and towards the front entry, pushing past the people who were trying to congratulate him as he passed by.
He didn't give a single fuck about any of them, his mind only thinking about her.
Please. Don't go home with him
His mind begged, wishing she could read minds. Read his.
The way he knew he was already way too late. Months too late.
Once he had gotten outside, he had seen Charles shutting her door before turning to thank the valet workers. His eyes flicked twice over to Lando's state. Trying his best to hide the winning smirk as he saw the disheveled state of the British man.
Charles looked back at his car towards her window, before looking back at Lando. He walked up to him, Lando's gaze hardening as he got closer.
"Don't," Lando warns him.
Warning him to not cross this line. To not take the girl that Charles knew he was so in love with, not take her home. He didn't like this feeling. He hated it.
That's when he realized what it was.
Lando Norris was jealous. He was jealous beyond words.
He never gets jealous.
Not until now.
Charles chuckles at him, patting his shoulder. "Lando," he chuckles. "You ruined your chances. Give her the chance to finally be happy, hm?"
He shook his head. "You can't give her what I can give her."
Charles bites his lower lip before speaking. "That's the point," he begins. "I wouldn't treat her like shit, like you did. I'll give her everything she deserves, and more. Not give her nothing, like you gave her."
That made Lando feel like he had been shot in the chest.
“I won’t ever let her feel or think she’s only good for one thing,” Charles adds, giving Lando a knowing look. Lando’s face drops slightly, then frowns. “I’m going to show her she’s worth more than she could ever imagine. Because she is.” Charles admits, a genuine look in his eyes.
Lando doesn’t know what to say in that moment. He felt defeated.
Because part of him knew (all of him knew) that Charles was good for her. He wouldn’t treat her anything lower than the Goddess she was.
Lando just hated that it wasn’t him.
Charles pats him on the shoulder. "Goodnight, mate," he says before walking away and getting into the car. Lando watched as the pair drove off into the night. Something was burning inside Lando's chest. Burned in his eyes.
Tears.
Jealousy.
Need.
Y/N smiled to herself as Charles and she drove along the roads, his hand gently on her thigh while hers rested on top of his.
Her phone buzzed, not once, not twice, but three times. This caused her to pick it up and look down at it. She thought she would feel something, anything, as she read the messages.
Please, don't go with him. I'm so in love with you
Come back to me, I'll be better. It hurts to see you not with me. Hurts to see you happy with him. I'll prove myself. I'll do better, for you
It's always been you
Y/N takes a deep breath as she begins to type with her free hand.
Your time ran out. A long time ago, Lando. It's time I let myself be happy.
Goodbye Lando
With that, she turned her phone off and looked over at Charles. His eyes gazed back at her, nothing but admiration as he stared at her.
"You okay?" he asks softly. She takes a moment before nodding.
"Yeah," she hums. "I am now."

more loser!ellie please 🙏🙏
taking loser!gf!ellie with you for lingerie shopping
cw: fluff, suggestive, loser lesbian!ellie, fem!reader.
⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ ⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ ⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ ⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ ⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ ⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚
it starts with one sentence. one sentence and a perfectly timed glance over your shoulder while you’re straddling her on the couch.
“i need new lingerie.”
ellie doesn’t respond at first. she just sort of… short-circuits.
you’re wearing her hoodie - the green one with the stretched sleeves and little bleach spots on the cuff - and nothing underneath it. your thighs are bare against the scratchy fabric of her secondhand couch. your lip’s caught between your teeth. and you say it so casually, like you’re telling her you need shampoo. like you’re not already half in her lap, driving her fucking insane.
she’s holding a half-lit joint and stares at you like you’ve just told her the world’s ending.
“i’m sorry,” she says finally. “you what?”
“i need lingerie,” you say again, slowly this time, like she’s old or confused. you stretch, arms up over your head, hoodie riding even higher on your thighs. you blink down at her. “i’m low on pretty stuff.”
she blinks. once. twice. her fingers flex against your hips like she’s trying to ground herself. “isn’t all your stuff already… pretty?”
you grin. “that’s sweet. but no. i want the really pretty kind. the ridiculous kind. bows and lace and way too many straps.”
ellie’s jaw flexes. “oh.”
you let the silence stretch.
then: “you wanna come with me?”
ellie’s eyes shoot up. her whole body goes rigid, like you just asked her to go to war.
“to… to the lingerie store?”
you nod, very nonchalant. “yeah. i need a second opinion.”
“right. because i’m so… fashion-forward.”
“you are when it comes to me.”
ellie says nothing. her fingers twitch where they rest on your thighs. she’s pretending to look cool, but her mouth is slightly open and she hasn’t blinked in way too long.
you raise an eyebrow. “that a yes?”
she clears her throat. “uh. yeah. sure. i mean, yeah. i can do that. just, like… be normal. in the lingerie store. like a normal person.”
you lean in, grin widening. “you’ve never been normal, ellie.”
“yeah,” she breathes. “and it’s about to get so much worse.”
⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ ⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ ⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ ⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ ⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ ⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚
the next day, she dresses like she’s attending your funeral.
dark jeans. beat-up converse. that ratty smashing pumpkins tee she only wears when she’s feeling brave, and a zip-up hoodie over the top. she doesn’t style her hair, just pulls it into a low bun and lets the baby curls frizz around her ears. you kiss her temple as she slouches into the passenger seat of your car, and she groans into her hands like you’ve just kissed her in front of a firing squad.
you, on the other hand, look unfairly hot.
hair pretty. lip gloss on. you even sprayed perfume - the one that makes her dizzy and stupid. you keep twirling your hair around your finger at red lights. keep crossing and uncrossing your legs like you don’t know exactly what it’s doing to her.
“please be gentle with me,” ellie mumbles as you pull into the parking garage.
“no promises.”
she groans again.
⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ ⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ ⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ ⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ ⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ ⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚
the store is a lot.
it’s pink. everything is soft, glowing, wrapped in silk and tulle. the music is sultry - some slow, breathy remix of something you danced to at a party last summer. the mannequins are tall, leggy, headless, and intimidating. there’s a neon sign above the back wall in soft cursive that says treat yourself, baby.
ellie stares up at it like she’s witnessing a religious experience.
she mutters under her breath, “this place is terrifying.”
you loop your arm through hers and tug her deeper into the racks of lace and mesh.
“i thought you liked terrifying things,” you say.
“i do. usually. but this is… this is uncharted territory.”
you pause in front of a rack of blush-colored balconette bras and grin. “you mean you’ve never been in here before?”
ellie frowns. “i’m gay, not suicidal.”
you laugh, loud and bright, and the sound makes her smile, even if her ears are beet red.
she keeps her hands shoved in the front pocket of her hoodie. doesn’t touch anything. doesn’t even look too long at any single item, in case it kills her.
you, on the other hand, are in your element.
you move through the store like a dream, trailing your fingers over lace, pausing to hold up sheer teddies and corsets, tossing matching panties over your arm like it’s a fashion show and you’re the star. you pick up a strappy red bra and turn toward her, holding it against your chest.
“this one?” you ask.
ellie swallows. loudly. “jesus christ.”
you smirk. “so… yes?”
“yeah. definitely. that’s gonna haunt me in the best way.”
you pick up a few more pieces - pale blue, black silk, something sheer and embroidered with little moons and stars - and disappear into the dressing room with a wink.
ellie stands awkwardly outside, pretending to browse a rack of crotchless boyshorts. she checks her phone. bounces on the balls of her feet. almost asks the assistant if they have snacks, then realises that’s a completely insane thing to do in a lingerie store and shuts up.
then, your voice calls out from behind the curtain:
“babe?”
her heart stutters. “yeah?”
“can you come help me zip this?”
she drops her phone. literally drops it.
fumbles to pick it up. wipes her palms on her jeans. tries to act like her pulse isn’t pounding in her ears as she stumbles toward the back room like she’s walking toward her execution.
⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ ⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ ⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ ⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ ⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ ⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚
the curtain slides shut behind her.
and ellie’s knees immediately go weak.
you’re standing in front of a full-length mirror in the softest, sexiest thing she’s ever seen. lavender lace. bare back. garter belt. stockings hugging your thighs. your skin glowing under the warm lights, the soft sheen of the fabric clinging to every curve like it was custom made for you.
you glance at her over your shoulder, all doe-eyed and dangerous. “can you zip it?”
ellie doesn’t answer. she just stares.
she looks like she’s in pain. mouth open. eyes wide. her gaze drags from your heels to your thighs to your hips to your back to your shoulders to your lips. she shifts on her feet like she’s trying to adjust herself without making it obvious, but you notice. of course you do.
you always do.
you smile slowly. “you okay, el?”
she clears her throat and steps forward. her hands are shaking as she reaches for the zipper. she’s so careful. touches you like you’re breakable. her fingers brush your spine and she jolts like she touched a live wire.
“i’m fine,” she lies, softly. “so fine. doing amazing. really holding it together.”
you turn to face her, and her mouth parts helplessly.
“do you like it?” you murmur.
“‘like’ is the understatement of the century,” she says. “i’m actually blacking out a little. Is that normal?”
you step closer. she doesn’t move away. she never does.
“i’ve got a few more to try,” you say. “want to help me with the rest?”
she exhales shakily. “this is a trap.”
you hum. “maybe.”
“you’re gonna be the death of me.”
“i hope so.”
⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ ⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ ⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ ⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ ⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ ⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚
you model four more outfits.
with each one, ellie unravels a little more.
the second is all black mesh with star embroidery. the third is a deep red strappy set that leaves very, very little to the imagination. the fourth has tiny silk bows and pearl accents. the fifth, the final one, is so sheer you have to cover your nipples when you step out just to give her a chance.
she stares. frozen. absolutely wrecked.
you cross the room, slide your arms around her neck, and lean in until your lips brush her ear.
“i’m getting this one.”
she makes a noise, something breathless and desperate, and rests her forehead on your shoulder.
“you’re evil,” she whispers. “this is psychological warfare.”
you kiss her jaw. “you love it.”
“i do,” she groans. “that’s the worst part.”

at checkout, ellie carries the bags like they’re sacred objects.
she hasn’t made eye contact with anyone in ten minutes. her ears are bright red. her face is still flushed. you hand the cashier your card and glance back at her, amused.
“you’re very quiet.”
“i’m recovering,” she mutters.
“from what?”
she glares at you, eyes glassy. “you flashed your ass at me in four different colours and then smiled like it was nothing. i saw your nipples through lace. that wasn’t just ‘nothing.’ that was a religious experience.”
you giggle and slide your arm through hers as you leave the store.
she’s still dazed when you reach the car.
you lean against the passenger door and grin. “wanna come back to mine?”
she nods immediately. “yes. oh my god. please.”
“for what?”
“closure. a cold shower. therapy. a full spiritual reset.”
you lean in, kiss her cheek, lips sticky with gloss. “i’ll wear the red one.”
she nearly walks into a parked car.

═══════
I found Namjoon in the hotel gym that night.
He was alone, earbuds in, pacing the far side of the room with a water bottle tucked under one arm, muttering rehearsal notes to himself like he always did before a show. I stood in the doorway for a solid minute before I said anything.
He saw me in the mirror first.
Pulled out one earbud.
“You alright?” he asked.
“No.”
He nodded once and didn’t press me.
Just set down his bottle and motioned toward the bench press like, sit.
I sat.
And for a while, neither of us said a word.
“I met with her this morning,” I said finally, my voice rough from not speaking since the show.
Namjoon didn’t ask who.
He just waited.
“I asked for an hour. She gave me exactly that.”
I rubbed my hands together. My legs were bouncing, and I couldn’t stop.
“I thought I was ready to see her. But I wasn’t.”
Still, Namjoon said nothing.
“She has a daughter.”
His brows lifted just slightly, but he didn’t interrupt.
“She’s mine,” I added. “Her name is Eun Ae.”
That got him.
Namjoon blinked slowly and sat down on the bench across from me. “You’re a dad?”
I nodded. “I didn’t know. I- God, hyung, I blocked her. She tried to tell me and I just… I disappeared.”
He sighed but didn’t scold me.
I think that made it worse.
“She raised her alone,” I said. “Worked. Went to school. Everything. No help. And I was here, living my dream while she was raising my kid and barely surviving.”
“You didn’t know,” Namjoon said carefully.
“I should’ve.”
“That’s true.”
I buried my face in my hands. “She’s giving me one chance. Tomorrow. At the zoo. I get to meet her - meet my daughter - for the first time and I don’t even know how to breathe around the thought of it.”
He let me sit in the silence for a beat.
Then: “What are you most scared of?”
“That she’ll hate me.”
Namjoon’s gaze softened.
“That she’ll ask me where I’ve been,” I whispered, “and I won’t know how to answer.”
“You don’t have to have all the answers,” he said. “You just have to show up. That’s what matters now.”
“I want to be in her life,” I said. “I want to earn it. I want to be someone she can count on. Not someone she has to recover from.”
Namjoon nodded slowly. “That’s a good place to start.”
“And Y/N…” My voice cracked. “I still love her.”
“I know.”
“I don’t expect her to forgive me. Not yet. Maybe not ever. But I want her to see that I’m not the same kid who left.”
“You’re not,” he said.
I looked up at him. “What if I ruin it again?”
“Then you don’t,” Namjoon said. “You show up. You listen. You apologize. You be present. And if they don’t let you in, you keep showing up until they do- or until they tell you to stop. Either way, you stay honest.”
I nodded, swallowing hard.
“Thanks, hyung.”
He gave a tired smile. “Get some sleep. You’ve got a big day tomorrow.”
I didn’t sleep much.
But I dreamed of a little girl with my eyes.
And Y/N beside her.
═══════
It was her idea to wear her tiger hoodie.
“Because we’re going to the zoo,” she said, as if that was the most obvious thing in the world.
I tied her shoelaces twice- her feet wouldn’t stop bouncing- then stood up and stared at her for a moment too long.
“Mama?”
“Yeah?”
“Are you nervous?”
A pause.
“No,” I said. “I’m just thinking.”
It wasn’t a lie. I was thinking. About everything.
About how I swore he’d never meet her. About how easily I’d broken that rule yesterday. About how I’d watched his hands tremble when I said the word daughter.
He didn’t cry, not fully.
But he looked like someone who had finally understood what it meant to break something that couldn’t be fixed.
I kept that image close as I buckled her into her booster seat and drove to the zoo.
He was already waiting by the entrance.
Sunglasses. Mask. Hoodie. Head tucked down.
It should’ve made him look anonymous.
It didn’t.
Even behind all that, he looked unmistakably like him.
And when Eun Ae saw him, she didn’t pause.
She ran.
Full-speed. Straight up to him like she’d known him her whole life.
“Hi!” she chirped. “I’m Eun Ae. Are you the friend Mama said we’re meeting?”
He knelt down slowly.
I watched his fingers shake as he pulled the mask down from his face.
“Yeah,” he said, voice cracking. “I’m… I’m Jungkook.”
“That’s a funny name,” she giggled. “Can I call you Mr. Kookie?”
He let out a short, stunned laugh.
“Sure,” he said, clearing his throat. “You can call me that.”
She grabbed his hand like it was nothing. Like it was normal.
Like this hadn’t been six years coming.
I followed a few steps behind them, unsure what to do with my arms, my heart, my breath.
They moved together easily.
Too easily.
He matched her pace. Let her pick which exhibits to visit. Lifted her onto his shoulders to see the giraffes. Bought her a pretzel and wiped the cheese off her face without hesitation. They laughed at the same things. Tilted their heads the same way when they were curious. Chewed the straw of their drinks when they were thinking.
They were mirrors.
And I was the frame- holding it all together, barely.
At the tiger enclosure, Eun Ae pressed her palms to the glass and gasped.
“They’re so cool!” she shouted. “I want one!”
“They’re a little big for a pet,” Jungkook said, crouching next to her.
“I’d teach it tricks.”
“I bet you would.”
There was a pause. Then she asked the question I’d been dreading.
“Did you know my mom when she was my age?”
Jungkook blinked.
I tensed.
“Yeah,” he said softly. “I did.”
“Was she weird like me?”
“She was perfect,” he said. “Exactly like you.”
She grinned. “So… super weird?”
He laughed, and I heard something in it that sounded like mourning.
Later, while she climbed a small jungle gym near the café, I sat beside him on the bench.
He didn’t speak at first.
Just watched her, eyes full of things I didn’t want to name.
“She’s incredible,” he whispered.
“I know.”
“I’m so sorry, Y/N.”
“You already said that.”
“I’ll say it again,” he said. “As many times as you need.”
We sat in silence for a long time.
Then I heard my voice say something I hadn’t planned.
“You’re good with her.”
He turned to me, surprised.
“She doesn’t know who you are,” I added. “But she likes you.”
“I’m glad.”
“She’s never had… that. A male figure. Anyone to play like that with.”
He looked away. “That’s my fault.”
I didn’t correct him.
He reached into his hoodie pocket and pulled something out.
A little stuffed tiger.
“I bought this on the way here,” he said, holding it up. “I didn’t know if I’d get to give it to her.”
She ran back to us just then, sweaty and smiling.
Jungkook knelt again and held out the tiger.
“For you.”
Her eyes lit up.
“Thanks, Mr. Kookie!”
She hugged him. No hesitation.
He closed his eyes like the moment hurt in a way he needed.
═══════
That night, after Eun Ae was tucked into bed, I sat on the couch with a blanket around my shoulders and my phone pressed to my ear.
The apartment was quiet.
Too quiet.
Like the kind of quiet that presses in on your skin and makes your thoughts louder than they should be.
“She hugged him,” I whispered.
My best friend on the other end of the line didn’t speak. She waited. She always did.
“She hugged him like she’d known him her whole life. Like he hadn’t missed anything. Like he hadn’t disappeared.”
I wiped under my eyes with the edge of my sleeve.
“And he was… good with her. Gentle. Patient. Funny. Like he’d been waiting his whole life to meet her. Like he already loved her.”
“You sound surprised,” my friend said.
“I am,” I confessed. “I don’t want to be. But I am.”
There was a pause.
“You still love him,” she said.
I closed my eyes.
“Don’t,” I said softly. “Please.”
“Y/N-”
“I can’t afford to love him,” I whispered. “Not again. Not after what he did.”
The words came out raw and wet and cracked.
“I spent years hating him,” I said. “Years trying to forget the way he looked at me, the way he kissed me, the way he made me believe in things that never came true. And today, I watched him hold our daughter’s hand like it was the most natural thing in the world, and I…This could’ve been real. This life. This moment. All of it. If he had just… stayed.”
I swallowed the sob that threatened.
“I didn’t feel anger. I didn’t feel hate. I felt… sad. And full. And furious. And terrified. All at once.”
“You’re allowed to feel all of that.”
“I know. But it doesn’t make it easier.”
She didn’t say anything for a while.
Then: “Do you think he still loves you?”
I laughed. Quiet and bitter. “He says he does.”
“And do you believe him?”
I looked out the window. The city lights blinked back like stars caught in a snow globe.
“I believe he thinks he does,” I said. “But I don’t know if he loves me- who I am now. Not the girl he left behind.”
“You don’t have to decide anything now.”
“I don’t want to decide anything,” I said. “I just want to breathe again.”
I hung up after that.
Tucked my phone under the blanket and rested my head on the arm of the couch. My eyes closed. My chest ached. I felt heavy and hollow and full of fire all at the same time.
And then I heard it.
A shuffle.
A creak of the hallway floorboard.
I turned.
Jungkook stood there, just outside the door frame, his hand against the wall like he needed it to hold himself up.
He hadn’t knocked.
He hadn’t said a word.
He just looked at me like he’d walked straight into the center of a storm he hadn’t seen coming.
“You heard all that,” I said, my voice flat.
He didn’t deny it.
Didn’t move.
Didn’t breathe.
“I didn’t mean to,” he said quietly. “I was bringing back the little drawing she made. She left it in my jacket pocket. I was going to knock. I just… heard you.”
I sat up slowly.
“You shouldn’t be here.”
“I know.”
He didn’t budge.
“Y/N,” he said softly, voice shaking. “I love you. Not just the girl I left. Not some idea. You. Right now. All of it.”
And then he crossed the room.
Without another word, he bent down and kissed me.
Soft and sure and shaking all at once.
And for one second - just one - I kissed him back.
It was like breathing again for the first time in years. Like lightning. Like a heartbeat I didn’t know I missed.
But then I pulled back.
And I slapped him.
Hard.
He didn’t even flinch.
“You can’t just do that,” I said, my voice rising. “You don’t get to walk in here, say I love you, and kiss me like it erases what you did.”
“I know,” he said, eyes shining. “I know it doesn’t fix anything. I just needed you to know it’s real.”
A long silence stretched between us.
He finally set the folded piece of paper on the table.
It was a crayon drawing. Stick figures. A tiger. The word “KOOKIE” spelled backwards across the top.
“I’ll go,” he said, stepping back. “But… thank you. For today.”
He turned and walked out before I could say a word.
And I sat there, hands shaking, heart a mess, trying not to chase after him.
Because no matter how much I wanted to…
I didn’t know if I could survive loving him again.
═══════
I didn’t mean to kiss her.
I meant to leave.
I meant to say those words and walk away like a man who’d learned his lesson. Who knew better now.
But when I looked at her- sitting on that couch, eyes full of grief and strength- I forgot what I was supposed to do.
And when her lips touched mine back… for that brief, burning second, I thought maybe I wasn’t too late.
But then she slapped me.
And she was right to.
I walked out shortly after. The drawing Eun Ae made was still on the table. The door shut behind me like punctuation on a sentence I’d rewritten too many times in my head.
I didn’t go to my room.
I went to Namjoon’s.
He was still up, writing in a leather-bound notebook like always. When he opened the door and saw my face, he didn’t ask. Just moved aside to let me in.
I sat on the edge of the bed, my hands gripping the hem of my hoodie.
“She still hates me,” I said.
Namjoon didn’t reply. Just waited.
“I heard her talking to someone. On the phone. After the zoo.” I exhaled shakily. “She said it could’ve been real. The life. The moment. If I had just stayed.”
My voice cracked.
“She’s right,” I said. “It could’ve been. I destroyed everything.”
Namjoon sat in the chair across from me, elbows on his knees. “You didn’t destroy everything.”
“I kissed her,” I admitted.
That got a raised eyebrow.
“She kissed me back. For a second. Then she slapped me.”
Namjoon didn’t flinch. “You probably deserved it.”
“I definitely deserved it.”
I leaned forward, elbows on my thighs, head in my hands.
“She thinks I’m just showing up now because of Eun Ae. But it’s not that. I was going to try before I even knew. I swear. I just… I still love her. That never went away.”
“I know,” Namjoon said. “We all do.”
“She said she doesn’t know if I love who she is now. Not the girl I left behind.”
“Do you?”
“Yes,” I said immediately. “She’s stronger. Sharper. She’s everything I wish I’d grown up fast enough to deserve.”
Namjoon nodded slowly.
“Then show her,” he said. “Not with words. You’ve said enough. Do something.”
“Like what?”
“Think,” he said. “What did she love? What mattered to her?”
I blinked.
“Wildflowers,” I said. “She always picked the ugly ones growing out of sidewalk cracks. Said they were survivors.”
Namjoon smiled. “Then that’s where you start.”
I nodded, a lump forming in my throat.
“I’m going to show up,” I said. “Every day. Until she tells me not to. Or until she believes me.”
“Good,” Namjoon said. “And Jungkook?”
“Yeah?”
“You’re not a piece of shit. You were a scared kid who made a selfish mistake. Now you’re a man who has to own it.”
I nodded again.
I wasn’t running anymore.
Tomorrow, I’d bring her flowers.
Not roses.
Not something expensive or flashy.
Just wildflowers.
The ones that survive.
═══════
He didn’t text the next morning.
Didn’t call.
Didn’t knock.
But when I opened the door to take out the trash, there was a bouquet of wildflowers on the step.
No note.
No explanation.
Just color.
Simple and honest.
I stared at them for a long time before I brought them inside.
I didn’t put them in a vase.
Not yet.
Eun Ae noticed them instantly.
“Oooh, are those for you?”
“Yeah,” I said, almost under my breath.
“From Mr. Kookie?”
I froze.
She giggled. “He smells like sunshine.”
I blinked. “What?”
“His hoodie. It smelled like sunshine. And gum.”
I didn’t know what to say to that.
She took one of the smaller stems from the bouquet and tucked it behind my ear before skipping off to play.
═══════
The next day, he didn’t bring flowers.
He brought her a book.
One of those thick picture books with a glittery cover and a dragon on the front. She shrieked like she’d won the lottery. He handed it to her without a word and let her read to him, even though she kept skipping pages and making up half the story.
He didn’t flinch.
Didn’t correct her.
He just smiled like it was the best thing he’d ever heard.
I watched from the kitchen, trying not to feel anything.
Trying to stay steady.
Trying not to remember the way his hand had felt on my cheek when he kissed me.
And the sting of my own palm after.
═══════
The third day, he showed up with both- flowers for me, a new stuffed animal (a bunny this time) for her, and takeout from my favorite noodle place.
He didn’t ask to stay.
Just handed it over, bowed, and walked away.
I didn’t stop him.
But I didn’t close the door right away either.
═══════
The fourth day, he didn’t come.
And I hated how I noticed.
How the absence felt like a missing rhythm in my day. A skipped beat.
I told myself it was good. Smart. Necessary.
That space was healthy.
But then he texted.
Jungkook: Didn’t want to crowd you today. Just… wanted you to know I’m here.
I didn’t reply.
But I stared at that message for a long time.
═══════
The fifth day, he came by again. This time he asked if we wanted to go for ice cream.
Eun Ae screamed like he’d asked her to Disneyland.
I tried to say no.
I did.
But my mouth betrayed me.
“Okay,” I said. “Just an hour.”
He didn’t smile like he won.
He smiled like it hurt to be that grateful.
We walked to the corner shop with her bouncing between us. He let her pick his flavor. She made him get bubblegum. He pretended to like it. I knew he didn’t.
He caught me watching him.
And didn’t look away.
That night, after she was in bed, I sat on the same couch, stared at the same wall, and whispered into the dark:
“I don’t know if I’m ready.”
And I meant it.
I wasn’t ready.
Not yet.
But I also wasn’t closing the door anymore.
Not all the way.
═══════
I should’ve known it was too good to last.
The morning started perfect.
Too perfect.
Jungkook showed up with matching zoo t-shirts he found online. One for him, one for Eun Ae. Hers said “Mini Tiger.” His said “Big Tiger.”
She laughed for five straight minutes and made him wear it out in public.
I rolled my eyes and told him he was shameless.
He just grinned and handed me a coffee with two extra espresso shots- exactly the way I liked it.
“Trying to bribe me?” I asked.
“Maybe.”
I didn’t smile.
But my fingers brushed his on accident when I took the cup.
And I didn’t pull away.
We took Eun Ae to the botanical gardens. Let her feed koi fish and run across wooden bridges with her stuffed tiger tucked under one arm. Jungkook stayed close the entire time. Carrying her backpack, tying her shoe when it came undone, wiping ice cream off her face.
It almost looked like a family.
Almost.
We sat on the grass to rest before lunch, and she ran over to the koi pond like it was a different world.
“She’s so comfortable with you,” I said, trying not to let it sound like an accusation.
“I’m glad,” he said. “I want her to be.”
There was a quiet pause.
Then he looked at me and said something that should’ve been sweet.
But it wasn’t.
“She’s just like you, you know.”
I blinked.
“She’s strong and stubborn and always needs to be right. She even talks with her hands like you do- ”
“Don’t,” I said, sharper than I meant to.
He froze. “What?”
“Don’t compare us like that.”
“I wasn’t- I meant it as a good thing-”
“She’s not a mirror, Jungkook,” I snapped. “She’s a person. Her own person.”
“I know that,” he said quickly. “I didn’t mean it like- ”
“You weren’t around. You don’t know what she’s like. You’ve seen her for what? A week? You don’t get to analyze her like you raised her.”
His mouth opened. Then closed.
And I saw something shift in his eyes.
Something small and hurt.
Then a tiny voice interrupted us.
“I’m sorry,” Eun Ae whispered.
We both turned.
She was standing by the fish pond again, tears spilling down her cheeks.
“I didn’t mean to make you mad,” she sniffled. “I’ll be good.”
“No,” I said quickly, moving toward her. “Baby, no. You didn’t do anything wrong.”
She clung to me like her little heart might explode.
I scooped her up and pressed her to my chest.
“I’m sorry,” I whispered, voice thick. “I’m not mad at you. I promise. You didn’t do anything.”
She looked over my shoulder at Jungkook. “Are you mad too?”
He shook his head, eyes glassy. “No, sweetheart. Never.”
“I just wanted to have a nice day,” she mumbled.
My throat tightened.
“I know,” I whispered.
We sat on the bench together for a long time after that.
No one said much.
═══════
Eun Ae fell asleep in the car on the way home, and Jungkook carried her inside like muscle memory. He tucked her into bed without needing directions, covered her with her favorite blanket, and kissed the crown of her head before stepping back like it hurt to walk away.
Neither of us said much after that.
He left for the venue early that night to prep for their final concert.
I stood in the hallway after he left, hand pressed against the door, heart aching like it was made of split seams and bad timing.
I didn’t cry.
But I wanted to.
Because I knew this was what I did.
Push away before I could be left again.
═══════
The stadium vibrated under my feet.
Screams rolled like thunder across the roof, and I could feel the beat of the music reverberating through the concrete backstage walls.
It was the final night of BTS’s residency.
Everything was fire.
Everything was electric.
Everything was right- except me.
I stood at the main comms table with a headset snug against my ears, spitting rapid-fire cues to the light techs, the camera ops, and the runners, my voice a metronome of control.
“Camera C, pan stage right. Cue smoke burst. Light rig alpha, wait two seconds on drop- no, two seconds, not four-”
My tone was clipped. My spine straight.
On the outside, I looked like I had it together.
But I could feel it.
The crack behind my ribs. The pulse behind my eyes. The way I flinched every time his voice cut through the speakers.
Every note he sang.
Every lyric he poured his soul into.
It hurt.
I told myself I didn’t care.
I told myself I was over it.
But every time the lights shifted and his silhouette appeared, I remembered the way he’d looked when he kissed me and the way he’d stayed when I slapped him.
I remembered how his voice broke when he said, “I love you. Right now. All of it.”
I remembered the way he meant it.
And I remembered how much that terrified me.
“Y/N?” someone called in my ear. “Spotlight three needs confirmation. We’re doing the slow solo bridge in thirty.”
I blinked, the fog in my head thick.
“Copy that,” I said quickly. “Cue in thirty. Confirm on bridge.”
I watched the monitors as he stepped up to the center of the stage.
Alone.
Golden lights haloed around him. Fans screamed his name from every direction.
And he sang.
Not just to them.
I knew that voice.
I knew when it was for the crowd…
…and when it was for me.
My hands curled into fists at my sides.
Stop it.
Don’t romanticize this.
Don’t soften.
But I did.
I always did.
Every time his voice cracked. Every time he hit a note like it cost him a piece of himself.
He looked straight into the lens during the final chorus- the one that streamed to every screen in the arena.
It was almost too direct.
Too intentional.
And in that moment, I knew.
He wasn’t singing to a sea of strangers.
He was singing to me.
The cue ended. The screen faded to black. Lights cut. Screams exploded.
My heart thudded harder than the bass.
I turned away from the monitor and pulled off my headset.
I needed air.
The crew backstage was already preparing for encore. The guys were offstage hydrating, catching their breath, prepping for the last two songs.
I slipped through a side door and stepped out into the shadowed corridor by the loading dock. It was cold. Quiet. The noise of the crowd muffled by thick walls.
I leaned against the wall and closed my eyes.
I didn’t want this to hurt.
But it did.
I didn’t want to care.
But I did.
And worst of all?
I didn’t want to want him.
But God, I did.
═══════
The cheers were still echoing in my bones.
My shirt clung to my back, soaked through with sweat. My hair was dripping. My lungs were still catching up.
But all I could think about was her.
I didn’t see her once during the show. Not backstage. Not in the wings. Not even in the flashes of tech crew darting through shadows.
But I felt her.
Like gravity.
Like silence.
Like a missing beat in the rhythm I couldn’t get right.
I sat alone in the dressing room while the rest of the guys laughed and recapped their favorite fan chants. Jimin had his feet on the table, Taehyung was dancing shirtless with a can of soda, and Jin was complaining about the confetti in his hair.
But I couldn’t join them.
I couldn’t even smile.
My hands trembled as I unlaced my boots. My knees bounced restlessly. My throat was dry, but I couldn’t drink anything.
Because all I could hear was her voice.
“You don’t know what she’s like.”
“You weren’t around.”
“You don’t get to analyze her like you raised her.”
She was right.
Every word.
I’d tried so hard to connect, I didn’t realize I was stepping on landmines she’d spent years trying to bury.
I messed it up.
Again.
“Yo,” Namjoon said, stepping into the room and tossing me a towel. “You good?”
I nodded. “Yeah.”
“You’re lying.”
I sighed. “I know.”
He sat down across from me, cracking open a bottle of water and sliding one my way.
“She didn’t talk to me tonight,” I said.
“You talk to her?” he asked.
“No.”
“Then maybe she’s waiting.”
“Or maybe she’s done.”
Namjoon didn’t say anything to that. He just leaned back and looked at me with those eyes that saw way too much.
“Do you regret it?” he asked.
I blinked. “Regret what?”
“Kissing her.”
I hesitated.
“No,” I said. “Not for a second.”
“She kissed you back.”
“Just for a second.”
“But she did,” he said. “And that means something.”
“Does it?”
He nodded. “It means she hasn’t closed the door. She’s just scared to open it.”
I stared at the floor.
“I don’t want to scare her,” I whispered. “I just want to show her that I’m not that kid anymore. That I’m not running. That I’m here. I’m here.”
Namjoon leaned forward. “Then tell her. Really tell her. Not to fix things. Not to beg. Just to say it. Say what you didn’t back then.”
I nodded slowly.
“We’re leaving tomorrow,” I said.
“Then tonight’s your last chance.”
“I don’t know if she’ll open the door.”
“Then knock anyway.”
I looked up.
“I’m scared,” I admitted. “If she sends me away, I don’t know if I’ll recover.”
“She won’t send you away,” he said. “Not if you’re honest. Not if you’re real.”
I took a deep breath.
I was real.
I was terrified.
But I was real.
═══════
I didn’t ask what he was doing here.
I didn’t ask why he looked like he hadn’t slept in days or why his fingers were twitching at his sides like they didn’t know how to be still.
I just watched as he stepped inside my apartment, slowly, like the floor might vanish beneath him and closed the door behind him with a soft click.
He stood there for a long time.
Like he couldn’t find the words.
Like if he said the wrong thing, I’d vanish.
I leaned against the wall and waited.
He finally looked up.
“I didn’t know how to leave this city without seeing you again.”
I didn’t reply.
“I’m not asking for anything,” he said. “Not your forgiveness. Not a second chance. Not some happy ending I don’t deserve. I just… I need you to know.”
His voice cracked.
“I need you to know that I never stopped loving you.”
My breath caught.
“I didn’t leave because I stopped. I left because I was scared. And young. And stupid. And then I was ashamed. So ashamed I couldn’t even look at myself. So I blocked you. I shut you out. Because every time I thought of you, I remembered what I threw away.”
My throat burned.
“You’re the strongest person I’ve ever known,” he said. “And you raised our daughter without me. You built a life, a home, a future- and I wasn’t there. I missed her first words. Her first steps. Her birthdays. I missed everything.”
Tears welled in his eyes.
“I don’t deserve to be her dad. I don’t deserve to even stand in this hallway. But I’m here. And if there’s even the smallest piece of you that believes I could be more than what I was-”
He stopped.
Swallowed hard.
“-then I’ll spend the rest of my life proving it.”
The silence that followed felt like thunder.
And then I whispered, “You don’t get to walk back in and say the right thing and expect it to fix the past.”
“I know,” he said, hoarse.
“But…”
He looked up.
“But you said the right thing anyway.”
And then I stepped toward him.
He didn’t move.
Didn’t even breathe.
Until I reached for him.
And he broke.
His hands cupped my face like I was something fragile, like I was glass, like he wasn’t sure if I’d let him keep holding me.
And when he kissed me- this time- I didn’t slap him.
I kissed him back.
Hard. Messy. Real.
It wasn’t slow.
It wasn’t soft.
It was years of ache and regret and longing that had nowhere else to go.
His hoodie came off, tossed aside like it was nothing, and mine followed, sliding to the floor in a forgotten heap.
Hands found skin like they were remembering. His fingers traced the curve of my waist, the dip of my spine, like he was mapping me again, reclaiming territory he’d lost.
My back hit the hallway wall, the cold plaster a stark contrast to the heat of his body pressing against mine. He kissed down my neck, his breath hot and ragged, and whispered,
“I missed you so much. I missed this. I missed you.”
I moaned into his mouth, my hands tangling in his hair, pulling him closer. We stumbled toward the bedroom, shedding layers like they were shackles, breathless and desperate.
The bed creaked beneath us as he lowered me onto it, his weight hovering above me, his eyes searching mine like he needed permission.
“This okay?” he asked, barely above a whisper, his voice raw with need and uncertainty. I nodded, my heart pounding in my chest, but he needed more.
“Say it.”
“Yes,” I whispered.
He didn’t hesitate. His lips found mine again, hungry and demanding, but his hands were gentle, reverent, like he was worshipping me. He kissed his way down my body, pausing at my breasts, his tongue tracing the curve of my nipples, his lips murmuring praises against my skin.
“God, I missed these. So fucking beautiful.”
I arched into his touch, my breath hitching as his hands slid down my thighs, his fingers brushing the edge of my panties. He hooked them with a single finger, pulling them down slowly, his eyes never leaving mine.
“You’re so perfect,” he murmured, his voice thick with desire. “Always were.”
He kissed his way back up, his lips brushing mine before trailing down my neck, his hands roaming over my body like he was memorizing every inch.
“I’ve thought about this every day,” he confessed, his breath hot against my ear. “Every. Fucking. Day.”
I reached for him, my hands tracing the lean muscles of his back, the ink of his tattoo sleeve, the piercings that glinted under the dim light. He was solid and real, and I couldn’t stop touching him, like I needed to prove he was here, that this was real.
He shifted above me, his eyes dark with need, and I felt him, hard and insistent against my thigh.
“I need you,” he growled, his voice rough, his hands gripping my hips. “Now.”
I nodded, my heart racing, my body aching for him. He didn’t waste another second. He entered me slowly, his eyes locked on mine, his breath catching as he filled me completely.
“Fuck,” he whispered, his forehead resting against mine. “You feel so good.”
He began to move, slow and deliberate, his hips rocking into mine, his hands gripping my thighs like he was anchoring himself to me.
“Look at me,” he commanded, his voice low and demanding, and I obeyed, my eyes meeting his, holding his gaze as he thrust deeper, harder.
“You’re so fucking beautiful,” he murmured, his lips brushing mine with each movement. “So perfect.”
His words sent shivers down my spine, his praise fueling the fire burning between us. I wrapped my legs around him, pulling him closer, meeting his thrusts with my own, our bodies moving in perfect sync.
“Jungkook,” I gasped, my nails digging into his back, my voice breaking as pleasure coiled tight in my core.
He growled, his pace quickening, his hands gripping my hips tighter, his control slipping. “Cum for me, baby. Let me feel it.”
His words were my undoing. My walls clenched around him, my body trembling as my orgasm crashed over me, waves of pleasure washing through me, my breath catching in a sharp cry. “Jungkook!”
He whispered into my neck, his lips brushing my skin, his voice hoarse and desperate. “I love you. I love you so much.”
His words were a balm, a salve to wounds I didn’t realize were still raw. I clung to him, my fingers digging into his back, my body still trembling as he followed me over the edge, his thrusts becoming frantic, his breath ragged against my skin.
“Fuck, Y/N,” he groaned, his voice breaking as he came, his body shuddering above me, his release a sharp, primal sound.
He collapsed onto me, his weight heavy but comforting, his breath hot against my neck. For a moment, we just lay there, our hearts pounding in unison, our bodies still joined, the silence thick with unspoken emotions.
He brushed my hair back and kissed my forehead.
“I’m not going anywhere this time,” he said, voice trembling.
I didn’t answer.
But I didn’t ask him to leave either.
And that was enough.
For now.
═══════
I woke up to the sound of his breathing.
Slow. Steady.
It filled the room like the soft hum of a song I hadn’t heard in years.
For a moment, I didn’t open my eyes.
I just listened.
Soaked in the weight of him next to me. The warmth of his arm draped around my waist. The rise and fall of his chest behind my back. His hand, large and gentle, resting against my ribs like he was afraid I’d disappear if he let go.
The light was pale through the blinds. Morning had barely begun.
But the ache in my chest already knew it was time.
I turned over slowly.
He was already awake.
Watching me.
Not smiling. Not saying anything.
Just looking.
Like this was the first morning of his life that made sense.
I searched his face for hesitation.
There wasn’t any.
Just quiet awe.
And something softer than I knew what to do with.
“You didn’t sleep,” I whispered.
“Didn’t want to.”
I blinked. “Why not?”
He reached up and brushed a strand of hair from my cheek.
“Didn’t want to miss this.”
My throat tightened.
I looked away.
“You’re leaving today.”
It wasn’t a question.
He nodded. “My flight’s in four hours.”
I swallowed.
“Will you tell her?”
He nodded again. “I want to. When you’re ready.”
“I don’t know when that’ll be.”
“I’ll wait.”
I looked back at him.
He meant it.
“I don’t know what this is,” I said softly.
“Me neither,” he replied. “But I want to find out.”
Silence stretched between us like thread.
“Can I see you before I go?” he asked.
“You’re seeing me now.”
He smiled. Just barely. “After I pack. Before the airport.”
I didn’t say yes.
But I didn’t say no.
He leaned in and kissed me once- just once- like he didn’t want to ask for more than I could give.
Then he pulled back, exhaled, and whispered:
“I’m so in love with you.”
I didn’t say it back.
But I didn’t need to.
Because he pressed his forehead to mine, closed his eyes, and stayed there for a long time.
And when he finally pulled away, when he slipped out of bed and gathered his things, I watched him with something heavy and quiet in my chest.
Not fear.
Not anger.
Something like hope.
And when Eun Ae woke an hour later and asked where Mr. Kookie was, I smiled, just a little, and said:
“He’s not gone. Not really.”
Because for the first time in years…
I believed it.

ᴊᴊᴋ ʀᴏᴄᴋ ʙᴀɴᴅ ꜱᴇʀɪᴇꜱ ᶻ 𝗓 𐰁 .ᐟ
notes, i've got to stop this is nawtt me.
drummer!sukuna who barely talks during soundcheck. just rolls his neck, stretches out his shoulders, tests his kit with three sharp hits and a scowl. but the second you walk in? he glances up, eyes tracking you without missing a beat. no smile. just a quieter kind of attention.
he plays better when you’re there. doesn’t say it. doesn’t need to.
drummer!sukuna who sends you a text that just says “where” after a show. no punctuation. no question mark. you reply “home,” and ten minutes later you hear his bike pull up outside. he doesn’t even knock — just walks in, kicks his boots off, drops his bag, and collapses on your couch like he lives there.
you pass him a cold drink. he grunts. “thanks.”
it means: i missed you. i’m tired. i needed to see you. all in one.
drummer!sukuna who acts like he’s annoyed every time you ask about his tattoos — rolls his eyes, scoffs, says “none of your business.” but when you’re curled up next to him, tracing them with your fingers, he’ll murmur, “this one’s from when i got expelled.” you ask why.
he shrugs. “pissed off a teacher. punched a guy. you know. dumb shit.”
then he lets you keep touching, lets you stay close. says nothing else.
drummer!sukuna who’s weirdly good at remembering the smallest things — your favorite energy drink, how you like your eggs, the exact way you complain when your shoes hurt. he won’t mention it, but he’ll hand you a new pair of insoles one day and mutter, “stop limping. you sound pathetic.”
he looked it up. measured your size. didn’t sleep until he found the exact brand you liked.
drummer!sukuna who doesn’t flirt with you like gojo would. no pickup lines, no charm. just rough hands on your hips when you walk past, or a lazy “you look good in that” when you’re not even trying.
once, you asked him what he liked about you.
he looked at you for a long time, then said, “you don’t bullshit me.” that was it. and that was everything.
drummer!sukuna who drags you into his lap during rehearsal breaks, makes a scene about it like he’s doing it just to be a dick. “you’re in my spot,” he mutters, tugging you down. “move or stay, i don’t care.” you stay. obviously. he smells like smoke and sweat and black fabric softener. you fall asleep on him once. he doesn’t move the whole time.
drummer!sukuna who doesn't take selfies, doesn’t post much, doesn’t care about online attention. but he has exactly one photo of you as his lock screen. took it when you weren’t looking. your face half-hidden in his hoodie, holding one of his drumsticks and pretending to be tough.
“you’re a loser,” you told him when you saw it.
he replied, “yeah. but you’re mine.”
drummer!sukuna who never says “i love you.” not out loud. but he brings you backstage passes even when you say you’re too busy. stocks your fridge when you’re sick. lets you wear his rings, his shirts, his hoodie with the hole in the cuff. he watches you from the crowd when he’s not playing, arms crossed, expression unreadable.
he’ll never be soft in public. but if he trusts you, if you’re real with him, he’s loyal in a way that scares even him.

i fucking knew it.
aaron hotchner x f!reader
summary: you and aaron have secretly been dating for a while—and the team is starting to suspect it.
t/w: 18+. MDNI. light smut (plz don’t come for me, it was my first time writing something like it), a mention of an age-gap, some cursing, mentions of criminals. i don’t think there is too much gender identifying language, but i did imagine a female while writing.
a/n: i had no idea where this one was gonna go. i hope you enjoy!!
aaron hotchner catches your gaze over the manila folder he’s holding. to the average person, they wouldn’t think twice about this action.
but, you know better.
his eyes hold yours for a few seconds longer, before he resumes reading the details of the case.
the lowlights of the jet’s interior mask the flush that’s appeared on your cheeks. hotch feigns a stretch, his shoe tapping yours slightly as he crosses his leg.
“sorry,” he mumbles, not taking his eyes off the folder.
you wave him off, knowing your voice would betray you.
i saw that, your phone buzzes with a text from jj.
it was an accident, you reply.
yeah right, emily shares.
what! what’s happening? gosh, i hate that i’m stuck in the lair, penelope adds.
hotch smirks at his folder, affirming he knows exactly why your phone is blowing up.
the two of you have managed to keep your relationship under wraps for the past couple of months, but the girls have started to suspect something. rossi too, but you can’t be certain.
aaron caught your eye as soon as you started at the bau. you’d learn that you’d caught his almost instantly. but he was your boss, and there was the age difference.
several late nights of him helping you with your reports and chinese takeout, you fell for one another.
oh, nothing. just hotch thinking he’s being subtle, jj tells penelope.
~
“three rooms?” hotch asks the tired man behind the desk.
“take it or leave it, man. it’s 2 am,” the clerk says on a yawn.
“i call reid and rossi!” derek sticks his hand in the air. emily reaches out to jj’s arm and pulls her into her side.
rossi shakes his head and exchanges a look with aaron. “which one of you boys are sleeping on the floor?”
hotch looks at you apologetically, but you see the underlying want behind those brown eyes.
“i guess that leaves us,” hotch murmurs to his bag, trying to remain unbothered. he grabs your duffle and starts toward the elevator.
your phone buzzes in your back pocket.
one bedroom trope! emily sends to the group.
epee! penelope replies.
he grabbed her bag, pen! jj shares.
aaron has never once carried anyone’s bag to a hotel room. his gaze catches yours over his shoulder telling you he realizes the implications. his stoic expression returns as you all enter the elevator.
~
the girls, reid, morgan, and rossi get off at the third floor, leaving you and aaron in the elevator alone. not before jj shoots you a wink. hotch visibly relaxes, and gives you one of those smiles he reserves only for you and jack.
"we're on another floor? that's really going to set the girls off," you comment. aaron shrugs like the duffle bag gave it all away and yall should just fuck the secrecy. he takes a step closer to you. back-to-back cases have kept the two of you from any quality time that wasn't outside of a police precinct and the tension radiates off him.
aaron leads you down the hall once the elevator doors open on the fourth floor. his giant hand engulfs yours, and you can't wait to get into the room.
"this is us," he gestures toward the door. dropping your hand, he pulls the keycard from his pocket. swiping y'all in, he pulls you into the room.
as soon as the door closes behind you, you're being pushed against it.
"god, I've been dying to get my hands on your for days," hotch groans against your mouth. you answer him with a small moan you tried to keep in.
you push his suit jacket off his shoulders, then grip his tie. using his tie, you pull him completely flush against you. his tall body is all over you. there is no spot where his body isn't touching yours.
“tell the criminals to take a break,” you breathe. “you almost blew it at the precinct in the last case.”
aaron moves his kisses along the side of your neck. “that officer was getting a little too friendly with you.”
“but a couple hair flips had him on our side, yeah?” you’re breathless with the work aaron is making of your neck. at the mention of your harmless flirting, his arms tighten possessively around you. his mouth moves lower along your collarbone, sucking lightly. he’s learned where most of your shirt collars lie so he can hide the marks he leaves on you.
aaron pulls you from the door, kissing you like you’re his lifeline. he walks you back until the back of your knees hit the bed. “no more work talk, baby,” he says against your mouth. heat pulls in your lower belly at the pet name and a sigh escapes.
the first time aaron called you anything but your last name, you could have climbed him right then. he still uses your last name, or just agent, in the field, but it’s softer than it used to be.
as aaron pushes you back on the bed, you make quick work removing his tie and dress shirt. the white shirt he wears underneath pulls across his chest. your arms move over his biceps reveling in just how nice they are.
“you like what you see?” aaron smirks, his hand slipping under your top.
you answer him with a hand on his chin, guiding him to your lips. “always,” you breathe.
he smiles against your lips. “why don’t we get you a little more comfortable,” he says, pulling your top off and throwing it to the other side of the room. you’re pretty sure it lands on the lamp. this earns a laugh. aaron checks over his shoulder and chuckles along with you.
“i told you, i need to get my hands on you.” he reaches behind you, unclasping your bra. which follows the same trajectory as your shirt.
“hmm, this isn’t quite fair,” you murmur. you push aaron back until you’re sitting up in his lap. your thighs settle on either side of his, and his hands fall to them, giving them a light squeeze.
“tell me.”
“you still have your shirt on,” you tell him, running your hands along his chest. aaron reaches back with one hand and pulls the undershirt from his body. it’s so insanely sexy, your mouth drops open. how is this guy real?
aaron chuckles again. “you never cease to amaze me.”
“i don’t know what you’re talking about, you’re practically an adonis.”
he rolls his eyes and pulls you flush against him. “you’re talkative tonight.” he presses a kiss under your ear. you crane your neck to give him more access.
“i always talk a lot when i’m nervous,” you admit. truthfully, there is nothing to be nervous about. you and aaron have slept together plenty of times since you’ve gotten together. this is, however, the first time while you’re on a case.
aaron pulls back and studies your face. “we don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do, baby.” his brown eyes search yours. the want in his is palpable. you’re certain the same is reflected in yours. your hands knot in his hair and you guide his mouth to yours.
“no, i want to. i need to,” you say, rolling your hips into his, his erection has your cheeks flushing. “i just still can’t believe it’s happening. you and me,” you admit.
aaron kisses you. it’s full of wanting and urgency, as if he’s afraid you’re going to disappear right beneath his fingertips.
“you and me were destined the moment i laid eyes on you,” he says, laying you back and settling between your legs.
~
the next morning, there is just enough time to grab some continental breakfast before meeting the local pd. normally, you don’t like to waste time on something as menial as breakfast, especially with a serial killer on the loose, but you and aaron had a lot of time to make up for and you’d built up quite the appetite.
you left aaron with a chaste kiss on his cheek in the room, before joining everyone in the lobby sans duffle.
“well, you’re glowing,” jj comments as you join her and emily at the table. derek turns from where he’s sitting with rossi and reid. “what’s that?”
emily points to you with her fork. “look at her. a literal ray of sunshine.”
“she looks normal to me,” reid comments. “if not a little worn down. are you feeling okay, y/l/n?” your eyes fall closed, trying to keep your emotions regulated.
“that, reid, is post-coital bliss,” derek says.
“yall have no idea what you’re talking about,” you tell them, praying your cheeks haven’t turned pink, because they’re exactly right.
rossi jumps in to save you. “come on boys and girls. let’s not make claims of our unit chief breaking fraternization rules on a case unless we’re sure,” he chides. he gives you a knowing look. aaron has definitely let rossi know what’s been going on. hell, if you didn’t know any better, rossi was probably the one who pushed aaron to finally make a move. you shoot him a grateful look.
“who’s breaking fraternization rules?” a deep voice sounds from behind you. just the sound of his voice has you wanting to drag him back up to the room. “baby, you’ve got to have more than that,” aaron comments on your lone piece of toast.
your face jerks towards him at baby. aaron curses lightly under his breath. a rare slip up from mr. professional himself. he stands there with both your duffels in his hands, his shoulder slumped in defeat.
derek smacks the table, cause the front desk workers to look over. “i fucking knew it!!”
your head falls into your hands. aaron’s laugh reverberates through the lobby. his real, earnest laugh. “well, i did good for a while there, huh, babe?” he says to you. leaning back in your chair, you tilt your head back to see him. the grin on his face could cause world peace. it’s not everyday the team gets to see aaron’s real emotions.
“you did,” you agree. he leans down and places a quick kiss on your lips before walking over to the desk to turn the room keys in.
as you reface the girls, their eyes are sparkling.
“i fucking knew it,” emily echos derek under her breath.
masterlist.

『 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝓌𝓇𝑜𝓃𝑔 𝓂𝑒 𝒷𝓊𝓉 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝓇𝒾𝑔𝒽𝓉 𝓎𝑜𝓊 』 | part 3
𝓈𝓊𝓂𝓂𝒶𝓇𝓎: You die. Or at least, you think you do. One minute you're bleeding out alone in an alley, and the next, you're waking up in a warm bed with two men who appearantly are your husbands. You're now stuck in a world where Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto, the most insufferably overbearing men you've ever met, won't leave you alone. Now they have to win your heart all over again. Either that, or you'll find a way to convince them to get a divorce.
w/c: 4.6k | posted on ao3
part i | part ii | part iii | more coming soon | m.list
a/n from @sugurumyshayla on the m.list
The car pulls into a small parking lot attached to a building with whitewashed walls and automatic sliding doors. Suguru cuts the engine off, leaving a hush that feels both expectant and suffocating. You hesitate a beat too long before Satoru opens his door and shoots a quick glance back at you.
You open your own door and step out. Suguru is already rounding the car to join your side. Satoru leads the way, hands casually tucked into his pockets, walking backwards as he talks to Suguru. “Maybe Shoko’ll prescribe you something for being uptight.” He teases, mouth quirked in a cocky grin.
Suguru’s eyes flicker to you briefly, then back to Satoru, his voice dry. “Maybe she’ll prescribe you something to shut your mouth.”
Satoru laughs, bright and easy, sliding closer to Suguru’s side to bump their shoulders together and linger there. “That’s cute, you love my mouth.”
Suguru hums low in his throat, clearly amused despite himself, and gently nudges Satoru away. “Debatable.”
The doors slide open to let you into a reception area that feels both clinical and more homey than it lets on from the outside. You’re greeted by warm lighting, cozy waiting chairs, potted plants, and a few framed certificates on the wall. The soft scent of freshly brewed coffee hangs comfortably in the air.
Behind the small counter, a woman dressed in jeans and a dark t-shirt under a white coat, sits at a messy desk, her chin resting lazily in her palm. A cigarette hangs unlit from her lips as she scrolls boredly through her phone. Her hair’s light brown and straight, cut in a stylish bob.
“Put that away, Shoko, you’re gonna get yourself fired.” Satoru drawls dramatically, waving a hand through the air to disperse non-existent smoke.
“I’m not on shift yet.” She glances up, unimpressed, slipping the cigarette behind her ear. “And it’s unlit, you asshole.”
Suguru steps past Satoru, flashing Shoko a lazy smile. “He’s just looking for attention, as usual.”
Her lips twitch as she gives Suguru a dry stare. “Tell me something I don’t know.”
She leans slightly to glance past the two men, and the moment her eyes land on you, her bored expression softens visibly. “Hey, you. Rough morning, huh?”
The familiarity in her voice jars you, but you try not to let it show. “Something like that.” You answer vaguely.
Shoko raises an eyebrow, her gaze flicking between you and the men before she cocks an eyebrow slightly at Satoru and Suguru. “What’d you two idiots do now?”
“Hey,” Satoru protests immediately, throwing his hands up in surrender. “We didn’t do anything. She’s just been…” He trails off, eyes flicking towards you carefully, unsure on what to say exactly.
Suguru smoothly steps in. “She’s not feeling well.” He explains simply, voice steady, gaze direct. His eyes meet Shoko’s, serious beneath the casual tone. “We thought you could check her out.”
She stands, stretching slightly, and gestures lazily towards the examination table tucked against the wall. “Hop up, I’ll take a look.” Then she glances sharply at Satoru, jabbing a finger toward him. “And don’t touch my stuff this time. I still haven’t found my good pen.”
Satoru smirks, eyes brightening mischievously. “Suguru stole that one, not me.”
Suguru rolls his eyes, exhaling through his nose. “You know he’s lying, right?”
Shoko sighs dramatically, ignoring both men, and steps closer to you, voice softer. “C’mon. Let’s figure out what’s going on with you.”
You hesitate for a second, but something in her eyes, beneath the dry sarcasm, makes it easier to follow her instructions. You settle onto the examination table, gripping the edge a little too tightly, nerves still buzzing beneath your skin.
She watches your tense posture closely before turning toward the men, jerking her thumb toward the door. “Give us some space, will you?”
Suguru shrugs lightly, unbothered. “We’ll wait outside. Call if you need anything.”
Satoru steps toward you briefly, eyes softened with genuine worry despite the teasing demeanour. “Don’t worry. Shoko almost knows what she’s doing.”
Shoko narrows her eyes. “Out.”
Suguru gently grabs Satoru’s wrist, tugging him toward the door with practiced ease, murmuring something low and reassuring you can’t quite catch. They exit quietly, the door clicking shut behind them, leaving you alone with the doctor.
She moves around you with easily, rolling up her sleeves as she pulls a small cart of supplies closer. She checks your vitals quickly, her touch efficient, her movements practiced. Nothing about her says she’s worried yet.
She slips a small thermometer into your mouth, before scribbling some notes onto a clipboard.
“You feel dizzy at all?” She asks, her voice gentle.
You shake your head slightly, the thermometer shifting against your tongue. She hums lightly, pulling it out after the small beep and glancing at the reading.
“Temperature’s normal.” She sets it down and reaches for your wrist, gently pressing two fingers against your pulse point. “Heartbeat’s racing a bit though. You nervous about something?”
You hesitate, biting down on the inside of your cheek. Her eyes narrow just a little, catching the hesitation immediately.
“Okay, what’s going on?” Shoko asks, lowering her voice and stepping slightly closer. Her voice carries a note of concern now that she’s picked up that something’s wrong. “You’re acting weird.”
You exhale shakily, heart hammering harder. This is stupid, you think. You know exactly how this will sound, and you know how she’s going to react. But something about the genuine worry in her eyes and the softness in her voice, breaks past the barrier you’ve carefully constructed around yourself.
“I…” Your voice catches, dropping into something small and thin. You clear your throat and try again. “I know how this is gonna sound. But something… something happened to me last night.”
Shoko pauses, tilting her head slightly, giving you space. “Okay,” she says slowly, “what kind of something?”
You swallow hard. Your palms feel clammy, your voice tight as the words tumble out before you can stop them. “I was walking home from work and it was late so I took this shortcut in an alley, but there was a stupid cat and it started chasing me. I was running away then I tripped over something– a bottle, I think– and I hit my head. And then I felt…” Your voice cracks slightly, breath hitching as you force yourself to finish. “I felt myself… dying.”
The silence that follows your words is deafening.
Shoko’s expression freezes. Her eyes widen just slightly, shock flashing briefly across her face before she quickly masks it with careful composure. But it’s too late, you’ve already seen it.
“You… felt yourself dying?” She repeats, voice quiet, like she can’t quite grasp what you’re saying.
A wave of nausea churns your stomach. You nod slowly, looking away. “Yeah. But then I woke up here. In that house with those two men, Satoru and Suguru.” You hesitate, feeling ridiculous, your heart sinking because you know you sound crazy. “I… I don’t know how any of this is happening. I don’t even know how I got here.”
She’s quiet again, visibly processing your words. After a long, tense silence, Shoko gently places a hand on your shoulder, squeezing softly.
“Okay,” she breathes, her voice carefully even despite the obvious alarm behind her eyes. “Just… let me make sure I’m understanding correctly. You remember clearly what happened in the alley, falling, getting hurt. And then nothing else until waking up this morning?”
You nod again, throat tight. “Yes.”
She takes another slow breath. “Alright… and you don’t remember anything else? Like, anything from before you woke up today? Not even yesterday afternoon, or dinner, or coming home, or anything?”
You hesitate. Because you do remember.
You remember scarfing down greasy takeout on your couch for lunch before heading to work. You remember calling your long-distance friend two nights ago, venting about how exhausted you were and laughing when she threatened to stage an intervention if you didn’t take a day off soon. You remember walking home from the corner store last Tuesday with a bag of snacks swinging from your hand, earbuds in, hoodie pulled tight against the wind.
You remember. Not just yesterday, but weeks ago. Months. All of it. Every mundane, messy, ordinary piece of your life. Your heart sinks deeper, dread pooling heavily in your gut.
You blink hard, forcing the thoughts away, forcing your face to stay neutral. Because there’s no way to explain any of that without sounding completely insane.
“No.” The lie scrapes its way out of your throat. “Nothing. I don’t know those men. Or you.” At least that wasn’t a lie.
Silence falls heavy between you.
Shoko’s face visibly pales. Her jaw tightens, and you can see the slow shift from disbelief to deep, genuine worry as her mind pieces things together.
“You don’t remember me?” She asks, her voice strained, clearly hoping she misheard.
The look on your face answers her question instantly. Shoko stares at you for a few long, silent seconds, in a way that twists something deep in your chest. Finally, she nods slowly, pulling herself together just enough to offer you a gentle, reassuring squeeze on your shoulder.
“Okay.” She says quietly, her voice barely above a whisper. “It’s okay. Just stay here. I need to talk to them.”
She moves away, casting a glance back at you with lingering worry as she reaches for the door. You don’t say anything else, there’s nothing left to say. The door clicks shut softly behind her.
You fiddle on the examination table, the muffled sound of voices outside barely audible through the walls. Outside, Shoko barely gets halfway through her explanation before a voice behind the door spikes in volume, each word overlapping in urgency.
“What the hell do you mean she doesn’t remember us?!”
You stiffen, pulse hammering harder against your ears as the door swings open suddenly, slamming softly against the wall.
Satoru bursts in, eyes wild, features drawn tight with distress. Suguru follows quickly behind, his expression grim, more composed but no less shaken. Shoko trails after them, a flicker of irritation passing across her face.
“I told you to wait outside.” She snaps, but there’s no real bite to it, just resignation and understanding. She closes the door gently, giving you a brief apologetic glance.
Satoru barely seems to register Shoko’s voice. He’s already stepping toward you, hands half-raised as if he wants to grab your shoulders but thinks better of it at the last second, fingers twitching helplessly in the space between you.
“Babe, what do you mean you don’t remember us?” His voice rises, thin and tight. “That’s bullshit, baby, you have to remember–”
“Satoru.” Suguru interrupts sharply, low voice calm yet firm enough to cut through the rising panic. He steps closer, reaching out to briefly touch Satoru’s elbow, grounding him. “Let her breathe.”
Satoru ignores him, though he visibly flinched at Suguru’s tone. His gaze locks onto yours, blue eyes raw and desperate. “You– you’re just kidding, right? This isn’t funny.”
You draw back instinctively, heart racing, anxiety creeping into your throat. Their reactions are suffocating, their panic pressing in from every side. You feel trapped.
“I–” You falter, unable to form a full sentence, suddenly overwhelmed. How can you possibly explain something you don’t even fully understand yourself?
Shoko steps forward, arms crossed defensively in front of her chest. “Guys, she needs space right now.” She warns. “Crowding her isn’t helping.”
Satoru turns sharply, frustration bleeding into his voice. “How can she just–” He stops, shoulders sagging, voice catching. “How could she just forget us?”
The accusation hits the air like a physical blow, sharp and painful. You flinch, guilt tightening around your chest even though none of this is your fault. But they’re looking at you like it is.
“Satoru…” Suguru says again, softer now, clearly sensing the tension radiating off of you. He places a steadying hand on Satoru’s waist, squeezing gently. “Calm down–”
Satoru turns his head slightly toward Suguru, jaw clenching. “Calm down?” He repeats incredulously, voice strained. “She’s our wife, Suguru. How am I supposed to calm down?”
Your chest tightens uncomfortably at the heavy burden placed on you without your consent. Suguru’s amethyst eyes find you, and there’s something shattered in them. He doesn’t say anything, but the way his jaw clenches, the flicker of hurt rippling across his features, it hits you harder than you expect.
He’s more composed than Satoru, but the pain is there, deeply rooted, and it’s worse somehow because he’s trying so hard to keep it buried.
Shoko lets out a slow breath, stepping slightly between you and them, trying to create some semblance of distance. “I know this is fucked up. But I think she might have amnesia.” She explains gently, her eyes steady but emphatic. “It would explain–”
“Amnesia?” Satoru interrupts, disbelieving. “She didn’t even hit her head! She was perfectly fine last night, wasn’t she?”
Suguru nods slowly. “She didn’t fall or anything. How can it just happen overnight?”
Shoko exhales, obviously trying hard to remain patient. “It can happen without an obvious trigger. Stress, trauma, there are plenty of explanations.”
Satoru drags a hand roughly through his hair. “But this– this isn’t right.”
You silently voice your agreement.
Shoko sighs, her expression shifting carefully into a calm, professional mask you imagine she wears often. Turning toward her desk, she grabs a sleek tablet and switches it on, scrolling briefly before glancing back at the three of you.
“Look, I get it.” She says finally. “This is hard for all of you. But if we’re going off symptoms; sudden, unexplained loss of autobiographical memory, no head trauma, no substance involvement, then dissociative amnesia fits.”
“Dissociative…?” Suguru echoes, eyebrows drawing together.
Shoko nods. “It’s usually triggered by severe emotional or psychological stress. It’s rare, but it happens.” She pauses, her gaze shifting to you, before going back to Satoru and Suguru. “Her brain might’ve just… shut down certain memories as a way of protecting itself.”
Satoru drags his hand roughly down his face, shaking his head. “Protect itself from what? That doesn’t even make sense. She was fine, Shoko.”
Shoko meets his eyes. “Sometimes it’s delayed. People can seem perfectly fine right until they’re not.”
You sit frozen, listening as they discuss you as if you’re not even here, each word a reminder of how little control you have in this world.
Suguru takes a slow breath, clearly struggling to process it all. His voice softens as he asks, “So, what’s next? How do we help her?”
“There’s no magic fix.” Shoko exhales slowly, leaning back slightly against the desk, tablet forgotten in her hand for a moment. “First, we have to officially diagnose it. I’ll refer her to a neurologist and a psychologist to rule out any physical or neurological causes. They’ll run some tests, just to be sure.”
She taps the tablet lightly before continuing. “The best approach is to avoid overwhelming her. Stick to familiar surroundings and routines. Try gentle memory cues, photos, objects, conversations. Therapy is usually recommended.”
“And how long?” Satoru speaks up, his voice tight. The desperation is quieter now, compressed into something small and wounded. “How long does it take for her to remember?”
Suguru reaches instinctively for his hand, threading their fingers together in quiet reassurance.
Shoko’s gaze turns hesitant. “It’s impossible to say. Some people regain memories within days or weeks.” She pauses, hesitating. “Others take months, even years. And sometimes memories just don’t fully return.”
The silence that follows her words is thick, oppressive, broken only by the faint hum of fluorescent lights overhead.
Suguru breathes out quietly, his hand gently squeezing Satoru’s. “We’ll figure it out.” He murmurs, voice soothing. He glances toward you, eyes steady and soft despite the turmoil within. “It’ll be okay.”
You’re not sure who he’s reassuring more, you or Satoru.
Shoko clears her throat gently, setting the tablet aside and looking at you. “I’ll set up the appointments tomorrow. For now, just... go home. Give yourselves time to process everything.”
You nod slowly, feeling distant, detached, like you’re watching your own life unravel from afar.
Satoru’s eyes find yours again, still raw, pleading, but slightly more controlled. “You okay with going home?” He asks almost hesitantly, like he’s afraid your answer might break him, as if giving you the illusion of choice might somehow help.
You give a small nod, sliding slowly off the examination table. Your legs feel unsteady, but you force yourself upright anyway, drawing in a deep, shaky breath.
Suguru exhales softly. “Okay.” He murmurs. “Let’s go.”
Shoko watches the three of you, brows creasing in a quiet worry she tries to conceal behind professionalism. “I’ll call you tomorrow.” She says. “Keep an eye on her. If anything changes or worsens, you let me know immediately.”
Satoru and Suguru nod, thanking her before leading you towards the door.
︵‿︵‿︵‿︵︵‿︵‿︵‿︵︵‿︵‿︵‿︵
They tried to turn it into a little game.
After returning from Shoko’s clinic earlier that morning, you’d spent most of the day drifting numbly from room to room, trying to adjust to a life that still felt foreign. Eventually, as the evening crept in, Satoru suggested turning your confusion into something lighter, less overwhelming.
“A Q&A session.” He’d proposed cheerfully, flashing a smile brighter than it had any right to be. “We’ll tell you anything you want to know. And we can ask you some easy stuff, too.”
You’d reluctantly agreed, mostly because you didn’t have the energy to argue, and also because you needed answers. Now, several rounds in, you’re perched stiffly on the plush living room sofa. On the opposite side, Satoru lounges with an exaggerated casualness that feels slightly forced, one hand absently toying with Suguru’s fingers. Beside him, Suguru sits straighter, more composed, but you still catch the restless bounce in his leg.
Suguru had placed a bowl of strawberries in front of you on the coffee table earlier, fresh, perfectly rinsed, still a little cool from the fridge, murmuring softly about how they were your favourite. Or at least, they used to be, he wasn’t sure anymore.
Their questions come softly, gently probing, like they’re attempting to slowly rebuild a bridge back to you. Favourite colour, movies you like, places you might want to visit. You keep your answers vague, distant, careful not to give away too much of yourself.
“Favorite food?” Suguru asks, voice gentle but noticeably strained beneath the casual surface.
You shrug lightly. “I don’t really have one.”
Satoru makes a small, dramatic sound of disbelief, though the playful tone barely masks his underlying anxiety. “Impossible. Everyone has a favourite.”
You force a faint smile, more for their sake than yours. “I guess I like sweets?”
His expression lights up slightly, relief flickering briefly in his eyes. You shift uncomfortably, redirecting quickly. “Do I… have a job? Part-time or anything?”
Satoru shakes his head. “Not really. You didn’t need one. We’re, uh… kind of good on the money front.” He gestures vaguely to the luxurious room like it explains everything.
Suguru adds, “But you do babysit. Just here and there when Toji needs help.”
You blink, curiosity getting the better of you. “Toji?”
“He’s a friend.” Suguru answers, rising from his seat and disappearing briefly into another room. When he returns, he’s holding a phone. He swipes through a few screens, then turns it to face you.
On the screen is a toddler with dark, messy hair and a serious expression far beyond his age, bundled in a navy sweater. Suguru swipes through the photos. There’s one of him nestled against your chest, your arms wrapped around him protectively, one at the park, at the grocery store, one where he’s using your leg as a pillow while watching a movie.
“That’s Megumi.” Satoru offers softly. “Cute little guy, huh? He’s always so grumpy but you’re his favourite.”
You look away from the screen quickly, discomfort tightening your chest at these snippets of connections you never made. The two men share a glance, before Suguru pockets his phone.
Eventually, the conversation drifts back and forth, their careful attempts at playful flirting growing softer as your questions remain serious and distant. Finally, you work up the nerve to ask the question burning at the back of your mind.
“How long… have we been married?”
Your words land as the air in the room shifts as they both still to look at you.
Suguru’s the one who answers after a brief pause, voice quiet and careful. “Almost a year. But we’ve all been together since high school.”
High school sweethearts. Something about that detail unsettles you deeply, digging into memories of your own past, painful, complicated relationships, betrayals, heartbreaks that left you determined never to rely on anyone again.
Satoru leans forward slightly, eyes brightening faintly, though there’s an edge to his tone. “We’ve been through everything together. Prom, graduation…” He laughs nervously.
Your silence lingers a beat too long, tension thickening in the air. Suguru softly clears his throat, clearly sensing your discomfort, but he tries again. “We have a lot of photos. Do you want to see some from the wedding?”
“No.” Your reaction is too sharp, too immediate. You catch yourself quickly, softening your voice with effort. “I mean, maybe later. I’m pretty tired.”
They both pause, blinking in surprise, the fragile cheerfulness from earlier fading away. Satoru recovers first, forcing a careful, strained smile. “Uh, yeah, sure. We can go to bed early.”
Your pulse spikes. “Actually, could I… maybe sleep somewhere else tonight?”
The room falls painfully silent. Satoru visibly flinches, eyes widening with a raw, unguarded hurt he barely manages to mask. Suguru’s jaw tightens slightly, but he quickly smooths his expression.
“Sure.” Suguru says. “There’s a guest room down the hall.”
You nod slowly, avoiding their eyes as you rise from the couch. Neither of them moves immediately, clearly struggling with your quiet rejection. But eventually Suguru leads the way, shoulders slightly slumped, and Satoru trails behind, silent.
When you reach the guest room, Suguru opens the door quietly, stepping back to give you space. “If you need anything, we’re just across the hall.”
You nod again, the weight of their disappointment pressing down uncomfortably. “Thanks.” You whisper.
As you gently close the door behind yourself, you hear their footsteps, soft and muffled, lingering anxiously in the hallway before eventually fading away.
︵‿︵‿︵‿︵︵‿︵‿︵‿︵︵‿︵‿︵‿︵
Sleep doesn’t come
You’ve been tossing around for what feels like hours, turning again and again beneath sheets that never feel right. Your eyes burn with exhaustion, but too wired to rest. Your mind loops through endless questions, faces, and impossible realities until your chest feels tight enough to burst.
You roll onto your back, staring blankly at the unfamiliar ceiling. With a quiet sigh, you push yourself upright, running both hands through your hair. There’s no point trying to force yourself to sleep when your mind won’t shut off.
You slip out from beneath the covers, shivering as your feet touch the cool wooden floor. The house beyond the guest room is silent now, every hallway wrapped in the hush of night.
Satoru and Suguru must be asleep, tucked away in the bed that you’d woken up in earlier that morning, tangled together, probably holding each other as they try not to dwell on how distant you’ve become.
The thought stings, but you push it down.
Quietly, you move through the dark hallway. Your hand lightly brushes along the wall for balance as you make your way toward the wide, arched door at the end of the corridor, the one that leads to the upstairs balcony.
You hesitate briefly before pushing it open.
The air outside is crisp and cool, rushing across your skin and pulling goosebumps to the surface. The wide balcony stretches out before you, overlooking a garden cloaked in deep shadows. Soft moonlight washes everything in shades of silver and blue It’s beautiful, unnervingly serene. Like a painting.
You step out barefoot, arms curling around yourself as the door drifts shut behind you. The night presses in around your shoulders. Your breath hitches, and comes in in a shudder. And then, without warning, the tears break free.
The sob hits before you even realize it’s coming. You sink down onto one of the seats set up at the edge of the balcony, burying your face in your hands as everything you’ve held in all day crashes through you like a wave.
You cry. Really cry. Ugly, full-body sobs, gasping and bitter, spilling out like they’ve been waiting for a crack in your armour. You’re angry and tired and scared. You don’t know where you are. You don’t know who you’re supposed to be. The people in this house look at you like you’re everything, but you’re nothing like her. You’re not their wife. You’re not anyone.
A soft noise makes you jerk upright, eyes wide and tear-blurred, heart hammering.
The cat is perched on the balcony rails, green eyes glowing faintly in the shadows, its greyish fur almost silver in the moonlight. It tilts its head slightly, observing you with calm curiosity.
“Oh, great.” You glare, swiping your sleeves roughly at your wet cheeks. “It’s you.”
He blinks at you.
You hiccup out a weak breath, eyes still wet. “This is all your fault, you know.” You whisper harshly. “If you hadn’t chased me down that stupid alley, none of this would’ve happened. I’d be home.”
The cat just sits there, staring at you silently.
You sniff, voice shaky and tight with emotion. “Don’t look at me like that. You don’t even care, do you? You’re just some dumb, stupid animal that ruined my whole life.”
Your scoff out a bitter laugh, but your lower lip trembles as fresh tears well up. You bury your face back into your hands, shoulders shaking again.
A few seconds pass and then you feel a gentle pressure against your lower leg. You tense, glancing down through blurry eyes. The cat’s now at your feet, gently pawing at your shin. You let out a small huff, determined to ignore him, but he doesn’t move away.
Instead, he pounces, paws clinging onto the fabric at your knee, before hauling itself up onto your lap. You freeze, too stunned to do anything as he stretches, circles once, then settles down with a small huff, tail curling around its body.
Despite yourself, you reach out a hand and run your fingers through its fur. The cat leans into your touch, purring softly. Your breath comes a little easier, slowly calming to match the gentle vibrations beneath your palm.
“You’re not even sorry.” You murmur, though your voice is softer now, exhaustion replacing the earlier anger.
The cat simply closes his eyes, continuing to purr softly, totally unconcerned with the world around him.
You stay like that for a long while, curled on the seat with the cat nestled in your lap, the night wrapping around you like a blanket. Eventually, when the cold starts to settle into your bare feet and your eyelids grow heavy, you lift the cat into your arms and stand, returning quietly inside.
You wander slowly to the living room, the pale glow of the moon illuminating just enough to guide your steps. The couch is welcoming, soft cushions and a throw blanket draped over the back. You sink down onto it gratefully. The cat joins without hesitation, pressing himself against your cheek as you pull the blanket around you both.
Your let your eyelids drift to a close, and for the first time all day, your feel at ease. You fall asleep like that, pressed against a living, purring thing that doesn’t expect anything from you at all.
Tomorrow can come later.

On the Brink
joel miller x reader smut
description: you’ve been wanting him for so long but joel can’t bring himself to give you what you want, what you deserve. a near death experience makes him realize how much he needs you
WORD COUNT: 4,2 k words
WARNINGS: smut, angst, age gap, semi-public sex, it’s also fluffy and cute at the start so no complaining about the angst
Your eyes watch him from across the yard with that same look you’ve had for the past few months. He knows what it is. Of course he knows what it is- he’s not an idiot… but that doesn’t mean he can ever acknowledge it. You’re young. Not a child by any means but for god’s sake, you’re half his age. There will be no entertaining these longing glaces you throw his way.
It was innocent at first, or at least he thinks it was. You would knock on his door, ask for his advice when it came to things like shooting and whatnot. He liked being helpful, useful. He liked that it was him that you came to, not Tommy even if he was known to be a sharpshooter. He thought that you looking up to him was the part he liked; he’s starting to realize that what he really likes is your attention.
“You need some help there, Mr. Miller?” You ask sweetly as he pulls in the planks of wood. He didn’t even see you walk over.
Joel rolls his eyes. You know he doesn’t like it when you call him that. Makes him really feel his age. “Not from you, trouble.”
He was getting the supplies together because part of his front porch was rotting and he’d be damned if he fucked his knee up some more stepping through a weak plank. He could use the help, but he just doesn’t want your help.
“You getting sick of me already?” You say, giving him that ‘kicked puppy’ look that would make any man’s heart melt. He doesn’t like how it makes him feel more than sympathy.
“Course not.” He grumbles. “I did just see you this morning though.”
“What can I say… i’m clingy.” You shrug and grin at him with a smile so bright it could light up the sky.
“Go be clingy with somebody else.” He waves you off as he picks up his pencil and ruler to start marking lines on the wood. “I’m sure any man in Jackson would appreciate it.”
You stop for a moment, like you see something underlying in his words. “That seems to imply that you don’t think my attention is purely friendly.”
He rolls his eyes and scoffs but doesn’t give you any more of an answer.
“Besides, are you not a man in Jackson?” You ask teasingly, wanting to get more out of him.
He tries to keep his focus on his work so his attention doesn’t feed into your teasing. “That’s different.” He grumbles.
“Why is it different?”
He sighs, keeping his head low but letting his eyes rise up above his glasses to meet yours. “It’s different because i’m an old man in Jackson.”
You frown a little. You know what he means but you want him to explain it anyhow. “What are you saying?”
“I’m sayin’ that I can’t entertain…” He gestures with his hand. “... whatever this is that you’ve been doing for the past few weeks.”
He knows. Of course he knows; you haven’t been exactly subtle. You just never thought you would be able to make him say it out loud. “And what have I been doing?”
“Askin’ too many damn questions.” He grumbles under his breath and grabs his ruler to check his cut lines again. What is it all those carpenters say? Measure twice, cut once? That must’ve been a rule he would live by.
“What is it that i’m doing, Joel?”
He stops with his work now to look up at you properly. He seems like he’s about to speak but pauses for a moment, knowing that if he addresses this then it’s out in the open. He won’t be able to neatly pack up this conversation and put it in a safe where nobody can find it. Whatever is going on between the two of you… it’s pandora’s box.
But in the moment, he can’t find it in himself to care.
“You’re flirtin’ with me, sweetheart.”
“I am.” Is all you say in reply, looking into his eyes far too deeply.
He’s a little surprised and was half expecting you to deny it. “Well you shouldn’t.”
“How come?” Your quick little replies are irritating him now.
He rubs his forehead with his thumb, feeling frustrated. You’re not stupid and you know he’s twice your age. You know why you shouldn’t. You know it makes him feel wrong. So why act so clueless?
“It ain’t right.” He grumbles. “I’m too old for ya.”
“I don’t mind.” You say softly. “I would still like you if I was 10 years older.”
“It’s not about you liking me. It’s about what’s good for you.” He sighs. “And an old man ain’t it.”
“I hardly care about pre-outbreak morals, Joel.”
“I’m not talking about that. I’m talking about what you deserve. A man that can keep up with you, take care of you even 20 years from now. I can’t be that.” He looks almost nervous now. He feels the same way he did when he asked Tommy to take Ellie to the fireflies. It’s a different sense of care but he still doesn’t feel worthy for you in the same way that he didn’t feel worthy for her.
“It’s you that I want.”
He sighs.
“There’s plenty more age-appropriate men in Jackson who’d be chomping at the bit for a chance with you. You should go and take your pick of them.” He continues, trying his best to push you away. It’s not like he doesn’t want you. Christ, he really wants you. But he also cares about you and that means he’s gotta try to nudge you in the right direction.
“I took my pick. Currently, he’s being difficult.” You say and he scoffs as he tries not to think about how endearing he finds your quick wit.
“I said age-appropriate.”
“Well there’s no other man i’m interested in.” You understand why he’s trying to convince you that he’s not somebody you should spend your time on. Maybe there was a time when things like age were more important but it feels miniscule now in the great span of things and besides, you can tell when he’s being self destructive. “So it hardly matters how many there are to choose from.”
He furrows his brows. Joel can hardly understand why it would be him you would want. He originally thought whatever you were feeling was a passing fantasy due to proximity, but it’s starting to appear as if it’s more than that. You’re just so full of light; he doesn’t want to ruin that.
“Y’know I can probably finish up here on my own. I ‘preciate your help though.” It makes him uncomfortable to realize your attention isn’t going to be quite as fleeting as he thought. He doesn’t know how to react to it. It’s not that he wants to hurt you. He’s just never been a man of many words.
“Um… yeah okay. No problem.” You try not to show how upset you are but it hurts for him to brush you aside so easily. “Bye.”
You walk off, regretting trying to push his hand, regretting the conversation in general… and most definitely regretting that you agreed to fill in for Tommy on his patrol shift with Joel in the morning.
~~~~~
When he walks into the stables the next day, Joel’s ready to grumble to his brother about how he has no damn coffee left and slept like shit, but is stopped in his tracks when he finds you tacking up Bellard.
You don’t turn around to look at him, you already recognize the sound of his heavy footsteps and besides, who else would be in the stables at 8am?
“I promise i’m not trying to stalk you. I already agreed to cover Tommy’s shift. Ben’s still not feeling well.” You tighten the cinch on the horse, not wanting to have any more whoopsies involving your saddle half slipping off like when you were just learning to ride.
“Didn’t think you were.” He says, already able to tell how your voice is colder. You’re more closed off to him now.
You put your foot into the stirrup and swing your leg over so you’re sat on the saddle. “I don’t want to make you uncomfortable, Joel.” It’s ironic really, they way you sound so vulnerable when you speak even though you are literally sitting up on your high horse.
“You don’t make me uncomfortable, sweetheart.” He says as he gets up onto his horse as well, giving her a light nudge with his heel to get her moving. “You could never make me uncomfortable.”
His false mirror words don’t fool you, the illusion shattered like glass by his nervous mannerisms. You know your conversation with him yesterday made things weird and you’re starting to wish you’d just ignored the whole thing like a normal person. You’d just really felt the need to defend yourself, never wanting to chase a man who doesn’t want you. Even if you have a feeling that he does.
But he ignores it. For the whole patrol he ignores it. The slight crack you saw in his demeanor has melded itself back together and he is back to the gruff man he usually is.
What you don’t see is his watchful eye, ever on you, protectively. You don’t know that it’s the same way that he watches Ellie and Tommy. The only people he would risk everything for, the only people that he makes sure are safe before himself. But it isn’t quite the same, is it? There’s something more in his gaze as it’s cast upon you, a hint of the same longing you have when your eyes fall on him.
“Did you hear that?” Your question puts him on alert right away. He tries to listen and he thinks his old ears are failing him before he hears the crash. It’s coming from a cabin east of Jackson, one that’s been checked through multiple times, even by Joel himself. While patrol routes are changed often, buildings are still checked regularly for anyone that might be hiding out. Clickers are of course dangerous but thinking, intelligent humans are much worse.
“Stay here. I’ll get closer and see if it’s anything to worry about.” He says, like it’s a command.
“I’m your partner, not your sidekick. I won’t let you go in there alone just because you don’t think I make good backup.”
“Jesus, woman ya really think that’s why I want you to stay behind?” You give him a look that says that’s exactly what you think but he doesn’t have time to validate you when there’s a chance that something dangerous is in that cabin right now. “Just follow at a distance then at the very least.”
That’s enough for you so you nod and the both of you hop off your horses and tie them up, not wanting them to spook at the first sign of whatever is in that cabin.
The two of you approach slowly and you try not to flinch at the crashing sounds so you can hold your gun straight. You also don’t want Joel to sense your fear. It’s not helpful for him to be worrying about you. You won’t be a distraction. He moves around the side of the cabin to look through the window and mouths the word ‘infected’ to you, holding up three fingers. You nod to show your understanding and he starts to make his way back, likely to come up with an action plan.
Though he barely makes it two feet when one of the horses whinnies. You both freeze. It wasn’t that loud, right? How good could an infected’s hearing possibly be?
Your answer comes moments later when they burst through the front door, but they don’t hear Joel. You’re the one who is in direct line of the horses.
“Shit.” You breathe out as you aim your gun and make a shot for the one in front, missing the head but hitting it in the shoulder. A shoulder shot doesn’t stop a runner.
“Goddamn it.” Joel acts quick, putting a bullet through the one closest to him with easy precision. The infected drops to the ground.
The one closest to you is still moving fast and you know you need to make this shot because if Joel misses, the last one will be on you before you can even think. You keep your hands steady, too pumped full of adrenaline to shake like you were before, and you pull the trigger.
You hear a gunshot, but it isn’t yours as Joel takes down the other runner. Your gun never fired.
Because your gun is jammed.
You pull the trigger again, and again, frantic now.
It’s no use so you drop the useless weapon. You look down for a moment to draw your knife but it’s too late as the infected tackles you to the ground.
“Joel!” The call rips out from your throat and Joel is sure he’s never heard such terror in anyone’s voice before. Well… not so sure.
You hold the infected back as well as you can, knowing that it’s over if you’re bitten, but you don’t have to push it back for long.
Joel’s gun fires and the shot rings true as the mindless flesh creature falls off next to you. A headshot taken from just the right position so the bullet wouldn’t graze you.
“Are you hurt?” The fear in his eyes matches your own as he kneels in front of you and seems to check you for injury over anything else.
Then he pauses.
“Are you bit?”
The thought comes to you at the same time. You were so dazed during the attack that it’s something you actually have to think about.
“I um… no.” You stumble over your words for a moment before speaking more confidently. “No, it didn't bite me.”
“Good.” He nods and moves on quickly, helping you to your feet.
He starts to move around, checking the infected, checking the house. He’s not focused on you anymore, like he wants to be distracted from the thought.
“One of them probably got bit a day or two back. Didn’t tell his friends and then…” He trails off, gesturing to the bodies. “This happened. Don’t think it’s something to worry about too much though. Probably an isolated event.”
He explains, but he’s rambling. Joel Miller doesn’t ramble. The near death experience is brushed under the rug, but you won’t have that.
“Joel.” You start but he cuts you off.
“I can write up the report for it. I know that’s something you’re not a fan of.” It’s idle talk, nothing of value.
“Joel.” You say his name more firmly now and he looks up at you. “I almost died.”
He clenches his jaw, the tenseness in the conversation now unavoidable. You walk closer and it takes everything in him to not step away. He wants to leave, wants to push it down, but you almost died. He can hardly wrap his mind around it. If he had shot that runner a second later, it would have bitten you, at the very least, and his next bullet would’ve been in your head.
“I know.” He grumbles.
“Do you? Because you won’t look me in the eye.” There’s desperation in the way you look up at him and it’s like he’s staring through you instead of at you.
He lets out a breath and it kills you because you can’t tell what he’s feeling. There’s emotion in his eyes but you just don’t know which one.
“Please don’t shut down on me.” Your hand rises to touch his shoulder and he feels warmth bloom in his chest. He hasn’t felt that in a long time.
His eyes finally flicker down to yours and then to your lips for just a moment. He should think about what he’s doing, he knows that. Your age should be enough to put him off, but he almost lost you only minutes ago.
He won’t deny himself any longer.
Joel’s hand lifts to your chin and your eyebrows twitch slightly in confusion as he tilts your chin up. You part your lips to speak but don’t get the chance because his mouth is now on yours. All his hunger and need and desire finally come out as he kisses you harshly. His other hand finds your waist and he pulls you against him, never breaking the kiss. It’s like he doesn’t need air to breathe as he pushes his lips against yours and walks you back until a tree stops you. His tongue pushes into your mouth and he groans when feeling yours push back.
He pulls back and you worry that he regrets it, thinking he acted irrationally or emotionally. Those worries are quelled when he focuses his attention on your neck, leaving gentle kisses and sucking on the soft skin just the right amount so it won’t leave any marks. You let out a soft moan as his fingertips graze up your thigh before gripping it firmly and lifting it up against him.
“I need you, Joel.” You whisper so softly that he’s not even sure he heard you correctly.
“Hm, honey?” He still isn’t fully focused as he trails kisses up your jawline.
“I need it.” You whine a bit and he frowns.
“No.” He murmurs against your skin, kisses so soft and featherlight that you can’t be convinced he’s even touching you. “Not here. You deserve better than here.”
“Please. I’ve been waiting for so long.” You slip your hand under the hem of his shirt. “Been so patient.”
A hint of a smile graces his face. “Patient? Sweetheart, you’re begging me to fuck you in a forest in the middle of our patrol.”
“You’re the one who kissed me.” Your hand slides up his chest. “You gotta finish the things you start, Mr. Miller.”
His hand grabs your other thigh and he lifts you up so you’re pushed against the tree. “You know I don’t like it when you call me that.”
You bite your lip, enjoying the feeling of him lifting you up with ease, like he’s got something to prove. “I know.”
“Then you should learn to watch your mouth.”
You smirk, knowing just how easy it is to rile him up. “Why don’t you watch it for me?”
He huffs as if your bratty little comments annoy him, but you know he likes it. It’s easy to tell by the way his lips find yours once again. His moves are messy and imprecise. It’s so unlike him to be so reckless but it’s you that brings it out of him.
Hands are pulling at clothes and you’re quickly at a point where your pants are off enough for him to touch you. His fingers waste no time pushing past your underwear to tease you. The movements are slow now, just enough to leave you wanting for more.
“Joel.” You try to scold but it comes out more like a breathy moan.
“Hmm?” He’s not focused on your face anymore, no matter how pretty it might be. He’s more concerned with how many fingers he can push inside you before you start to whine.
“Joel.” You pout again as he feels your wetness pooling in his palm.
Three then. He thinks to himself, calculating how long he’ll have to wait to let you adjust to his cock before he can fuck you how he wants. But he already knows he’ll be pushing your limits.
“Shh, baby. Clearly, you’re not as patient as you claim to be.”
You can’t even reply, not with how good it feels when his fingers start to curl inside you. Joel continues the motions for a minute or so but it’s not what you want. It feels so damn good but this isn’t the way you want to finish.
You start to push him away and he stops as soon as he sees the hesitation.
“Everything alright?” He asks and your heart melts at the tenderness in his voice.
“I wanna feel something a little bigger.”
He rolls his eyes. “No damn patience.” He unbuckles his belt and starts to unbutton his jeans. “I’ll give you what you want then.”
He pulls his jeans halfway down his thighs- his very nice thighs- so he can pull himself out of his boxers. There’s no more slow, teasing actions. He wants to show you what your impertinence gets you. Lifting you back up with just one hand, he uses the other to guide his cock to your entrance.
As the head pushes in, he watches your face so he can see how you struggle to take it. You won’t speak up though, not after you whined and begged for him to fuck you. He might be a lot bigger than you’ve had before but that doesn’t mean you can’t take it.
Joel doesn’t want to miss the look on your face as he pushes in but can’t help but glance down. The sight of your desperate pussy sucking him in more and more is almost enough for him to finish there and then, but he holds off. He won’t let this be something you regret.
“Fuck.” He groans as he pushes the rest of the way into you with a sharp thrust. You whimper, hiding your face in his neck. “It’s okay, baby. You’re doing so well.”
The praise makes your cheeks heat and he starts to pull himself back out again before you hear the slick squelch of another deep thrust.
“Shit, Joel.” The stretch stings but it’s a good hurt.
“I know. I was trying to prepare you but you never fucking listen.” His words sound sympathetic, no matter how harsh they are, but the way he punishes you with his dick seems to contrast that.
His hands hold up both your thighs as he leans you against the tree for more leverage so he can pull his hips back and fuck into you deeper and deeper.
“Mmm.” You moan, unable to form thoughts, let alone words.
The way the head of his cock hits just the right spot before slipping up to kiss your cervix makes you feel pleasure in a way you couldn’t previously fathom. You’ve never been fucked like this before and it just makes it oh so better because it’s him fucking you.
Joel’s deep brown eyes feel like they’re burrowing into your soul with the way he’s watching you. He lives for it, your reactions, every little sound you make. It all makes him harder as he slams into you rougher with each thrust.
“You feel so perfect, sweetheart. Taking me so damn well, finally learning how to listen.”
“Dick.” You grumble and he chuckles.
“I’m not the one who begged for this.” His hips push against yours. You didn’t think he’d be able to get even deeper but he does. “Fucking begged, honey.”
“I’m not the one who let go of all my morals for it though, either.”
It’s a dangerous thing for you to point out, almost threatening enough for him to stop. But it’s also another thing he likes about you. You always bite back. There is even some part, some sick part, of him deep down that enjoys how wrong it is. It enjoys that you, being so beautiful and smart and full of life… and so young still want him. You could have any man between your thighs but it’s Joel whose fucking you.
“I’m close, Joel.” You say after his fingers have crept down to rub between your legs. He needs you to finish first, needs it bad.
“Cum for me. Wanna feel you squeezing around me. Wanna know how you love it.”
His pace never falters as he leads you to the edge, drawing in and out of you with a pace that you didn’t think a man his age could hold. It just feels so good; you want it to last forever, but all good things end eventually.
“F-Fuck.” You moan and he feels it as your walls tighten around his cock. It almost makes him cum instantly but he pushes through enough to lead you through your high.
You’re panting now as he pulls out, spilling himself onto the forest floor. You look up at him as he lets you down gently. You’re scared, scared that it’s over now, scared that this was a one time thing. And he just won’t fucking look at you.
“Joel?” Your voice cracks. God, you hate how you can’t control it.
His head snaps back right away and when you look into his eyes… it’s not regret that you see. “It’s okay, trouble. You did good.” There is something more in the way he comforts you. “We’re good.”
It’s not much of an explanation but it relieves you. You understand him and though he didn’t speak many words, you know what lies between the lines. This isn’t the end of what’s between you.
prompt: lollipop
(originally posted on my bluesky here)
au where Steve and Robin had their bathroom floor conversation/platonic soulmate initiation ceremony way back in 1983, like two weeks after Jonathan rocked Steve’s shit and by the time everyone gets back from winter break they’ve become SteveandRobin.
Steve knows all about Robin’s crush on Tammy Thompson and Robin knows all about the fact that Steve thinks one Eddie Munson is really pretty, actually, when he’s not being a grubby little gremlin.
In this au, Steve and Nancy mutually broke it off after the whole monster-fighting thing and so for the next few months after break, SteveandRobin try to wingman each other but also the ‘you rule/you suck’ board makes an appearance, this time in an unused corner of the band room.
So far Steve hasn’t gotten a single tally in the ‘you rule’ column. He is deeply offended by this and is trying to figure out why he seems to have lost his mojo. He needs to prove to Robin that he is very suave, actually, and no, his reputation is not a fluke. Jesus.
Which leads us to a Thursday evening in late May where band practice is getting out at the same time as Hellfire club. Steve suddenly finds himself being possessed by the ghost of Casanova himself or something because the next thing he knows, he’s abandoning Robin with a quick “be right back” and swaggering up to Eddie, who eyes Steve warily before leaning up against the side of the school building with a smirk paired with a dangerous glint in his eye.
“Hey, Munson,” Steve starts, keeping it causal.
Eddie pulls the lollipop he’d been sucking on out of his mouth with a wet pop and Steve fervently doesn’t have any feelings about that whatsoever.
“Steve Harrington,” he purrs. “What can this lowly peasant do for such esteemed royalty as yourself, hmm?”
Steve raises a single eyebrow. “Well, first of all, I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I’m not exactly Hawkins High royalty anymore. Apparently jocks and band geeks can’t be friends,” Steve adds with a roll of his eyes.
“Second of all…” Steve glances left and right, making sure there’s no one in earshot before giving Eddie a once-over and taking a deliberate step forward so the toes of their shoes are almost touching. “I think we both know you’re too pretty and too smart to be stuck as a peasant.”
Eddie’s eyes go wide for a moment before narrowing, his dimpled grin somehow managing to be sharp as a knife. “Careful, big boy. You don’t wanna play this game.”
“Who says this is a game?”
Eddie scoffs, putting his lollipop back in his mouth and straightening like he’s going to move past Steve, but Steve stops him with a hand to the wall behind Eddie’s head.
He makes sure to leave enough room for Eddie to be able to walk away if he really wants to, doesn’t want him to feel trapped or pressured in any way. But he also wants Eddie to know he’s being serious.
“Look, you can tell me to fuck off if you really want, and I will, swear to god.”
Eddie stares at him with wide eyes and slowly nods his head.
“But I really hope you don’t,” Steve continues, leaning forward until their noses are just inches from touching, “because it turns out I really have a thing for curly-headed nerds.”
Steve relishes in the way Eddie’s jaw drops open and a blush works its way over his cheeks and up to the tips of his ears. It’s really fucking cute.
“I know I can’t exactly wine-and-dine you like if you were a girl, but maybe I could get us some pizza and beers and you could come over to my place one of these days?”
Steve raises his eyebrows, trying to only let a little bit of his excitement at the idea through — he doesn’t want to scare Eddie off.
Eddie stares for a moment, two. Eventually, he blurts, “Is— Is this— Are you being serious right now?” He hadn’t bothered to take out the lollipop before speaking, seems like he’s completely frozen, actually, making the question slightly garbled.
“As a heart attack.”
“Jesus fucking Christ.”
“So?” Steve asks, biting his lower lip. He watches Eddie track the movement and gives himself a mental high-five.
“I’m— fuck, okay.” Eddie looks at Steve’s lips again before looking into his eyes incredulously. “I’m pretty sure this is a dream, but whatever, fuck it, I’ll go on a date with Steve goddamn Harrington, I guess.”
“Not dreaming,” Steve grins, finally leaning back a little bit. “And I’m gonna hold you to that,” he promises. On a whim, he reaches out and plucks Eddie’s lollipop from between his lips before placing it in his own mouth, making sure to maintain eye contact the entire time. Eddie’s eyes are as wide as saucers as he visibly swallows.
“Uh.”
“I’ll find you at lunch tomorrow, figure out what day works,” Steve says casually, leaning back and starting to walk backwards towards the parking lot. He points the lollipop at Eddie and commands, “Better not stand me up, Munson,” before putting it back in his mouth, shoving his hands in his pockets, and turning to walk back to where Robin is waiting by his car.
He doesn’t look back, even though he really really wants to, because he still wants to make sure he looks cool and aloof.
“Steven Marie,” Robin whisper yells once he’s close enough to hear her. “What the fuck was that? What did you do to Munson?”
Steve ignores her questions. “What’s he doing, Bobbie?”
Robin, bless her, answers him. “He’s just… standing there. And now he’s pulling his hair over his face and squatting. Did you break him?”
Steve grins, pleased. “Not yet.”
“What the fuck is that supposed to mean? Wait, where did you get the lollipop? You didn’t have one a few minutes ago.”
“I might’ve stolen it from Munson, right after I got him to agree to go on a date with me.”
Robin freezes, staring at him like she’s buffering as her entire worldview gets rearranged. “Steve, Stevie, I need you to know I’m so happy for you and proud of you. But also I am going to actually strangle you to death in your sleep what the actual fuck.”
“Love you too, Robs.”
+ Bonus:
Steve, 5 min later after he’s started driving to drop Robin off at home: ohmygod. Robin.
Robin: What.
Steve: Eddie and I basically kissed.
Robin: What?????
Steve: His spit is in my mouth as we speak.
Robin: wHAT??!!!?!!!
Steve: Robin stop screaming I’m having a crisis
{send me a 📝 and a one-word prompt and i will try and write a lil steddie microfic for you! (it will almost certainly be much shorter than this one but who knows, i might get Inspired™️)}
Dressing Room Hookup
Pairing: Jinu (Kpop Demon Hunter) X You (female)
Summary: You are Rumi’s youngster sister and a part of Huntrix. You and Jinu have had some interactions which consist of insults and fights to hide the tension between the two of you. Jinu has come to take what is his.
Warning: 18+ (mdni!), explicit smut content, p in v, fingering, dirty talk, breeding kink, creampie
Y/N was fluffing the ends of your hair and humming to warm up the vocal cords before going on stuff. Your dressing room was very simple. It has a long mirror with little fairy lights wrapped around the edges of the mirror frame and a long white benchtop in front of it. You had a few different colored bean bag chairs scattered around the room with a long brown couch that had two pink heart shaped pillows towards the back of the room.
While you were fixing your mascara, a creak from the door let you know someone entered. Your eyes focused and you saw it was Jinu, wearing a white t-shirt and jeans.
You whipped around,”What are you doing here?”
“What? I can’t come see my favorite artist before they perform?” He put his hand on his heart.
You held your hand out by your side conjuring your sword when he started waving his finger. As your sword entered your hand, Jinu appeared in front of you and pressed his arm against your throat.
“Now, that’s just rude. Having a weapon in front of a guest.” He wrapped his other arm around my waist bringing me closer to him.
“You’re not exactly a guest.” You grip my sword.
“Hmm. I guess you can say that’s true since I’m here for one thing.” He brought his face closer to mine, our noses brushing.
“And what’s that?” You exhaled.
You didn’t get a reply. Or you can get the reply was his lips pressing against yours. You dropped the sword out of shock and he pinched your waist, making you moan and letting his tongue in your mouth. You gripped his shirt as he devoured you. Each kiss made your head spin and you couldn’t think. You could barely breathe but that didn’t matter as long as he kept kissing you. His other arm that was against your neck brought one of your legs around his waist. He moved his hips up and down and you gasped, separating from the kiss, and throwing your head back.
He trailed his lips down to your neck and started sucking and licking wherever he could. You dug your nails into his arms as he grinded faster against you. The motion of his hips felt so delicious as he had his hips angled to where it brushed against your clothed clit every time.
He brought his lips back to yours and had his tongue curling behind your teeth. You didn’t even notice him unbuttoning your shorts until his fingers had found their way into your pussy.
“Oh my god!” You moaned as his fingers just brushed against your opening.
“You are dripping. Only I can get you this wet.” He says as his fingers still tease you by not entering.
You bit your lip, “You wish.”
He narrows his eyes and shoves two fingers in you, making you cry out. His fingers curl up every time he thrusts them in you. You let out little whimpers and small moans. His other hand comes down and he starts circling your clit.
“Oh Jinu!” You start shaking, the pressure he puts on your clit feels so good.
He smirks before ripping out his fingers and turns you around to face your mirror. He yanks down his pants and bends you forwards a bit before thrusting into you at once. He gives you no time to adjust to his big cock.
“Oh fuck! Jinu!” You cry out.
He sets a relentless brutal pace. He grabs your hips and slams his into you over and over again. You can’t even hide the moans, they just keep pouring out of you, especially the moans of his name.
“See, only I can get you this wrecked.” He brags.
You don’t acknowledge his statement, too busy focusing on how his dick just hits your g spot so nicely.
He pulls your hair,”Say it!”
You whine,”Only you! Jinu!”
He keeps thrusting into you while yanking on your hair. Your hands scrambling against the desk, it feels so good.
“Look at yourself making a mess all over my cock.” He moves his hand down to your neck and you open your eyes to see how his dick goes in and out of you. His eyes changing yellow and his patterns start to show. His nails start to grow long, you can feel them digging into your waist and your neck.
“I’m gonna wreck this pussy. Your pussy will only remember my dick. You were made for me.” He bites your neck and starts circling your clit.
“Oh Jinu! Jinu!” You shout as your walls start to hug his dick tighter and tighter.
“That’s it! Be a good girl and cum on my cock! And once you’re done I’ll fill you with my seed so everyone knows who you belong to. You want that don’t you?” His voice started to sound a bit demonic.
“Yes Jinu! Yes! Yours!” You sob as the pressure that kept building inside exploded making you cry out and keep repeating his name.
“Fuck! Fuck!” He pumped into you a few more times before spilling his seed in you. You moan once you feel his cum filling you up, feeling full.
He pulled out of you and pulled your shorts back up, securing his cum in you. You looked at yourself in the mirror and you had marks all over you, mascara running down your face and wild hair.
“Well, good luck performing now,” He flipped his hair.
You stood there in shock as he left trying to figure out how you were going to hide the marks and put yourself together before the performance.
One thing for sure is you are going to get him back.
nanami never liked staying at work late, but lately, he liked it even less—not because of the hours, but because of her words that still echoed in his head. “come home not too late, papa…and safe. please?”
so by 6:37pm, his keys clicked in the door, his tie already half-loosened and shoulder relaxing. the house was glowing in soft golden lights, the faint scent of dinner and lavender filling the air. he could hear little giggles and your voice, soft and lilting.
“papaaaa!!” came a screech. a flash of pink brust around the corner—the smaller of the twins, your daughter, rocketed toward him like a missile of love, her curls bouncing with every step. nanami dropped to one knee just in time, catching her in strong arms.
“you're late” she accused, nose scrunching.
“only by seven minutes, princess.”
“still late,” she buries her face in the crook of his neck, pretending to pout—arms wrapping around him in a tight clingy hug.
“then i guess i have to make it up to you.” he smooths her wild hair with one hand, the other steadying her back. “where's mum?”
“she's in our room,” she mumbled into his shirt. “getting our clothes for bath time.”
nanami kissed the top of her head before standing up with her still clinging to him like a sleepy koala. “let's go, then.”
he peeked into the twin's room to find you kneeling by the dresser, laying out a tiny pair of pajamas with sleepy clouds printed on them. your back was turned, humming softly, and when you heard the shuffle behind you-
“you made it.”
“right on time,” he murmured a soft smile perking his lips as he let your daughter slide down to the carpet. she immediately started trying to pick out different socks than the ones you laid out. “let me help.”
soon, it became the usual dance—familiar, wordless teamwork.
nanami filled the tub, rolling his sleeves as he tested the water. your twins were surrounded by bath toys. your daughter kept shrieking over shampoo in her eyes even when it wasn't. meanwhile, your son, sat like a tiny monk at the other end of the tub, back straight, reading the back of the conditioner bottle as if studying. his fine blonde hair was slicked to his forehead, and he blinked up seriously at his dad.
“did you know this coconut oil has vitamin E?”
nanami nodded gravely. “sounds powerful.”
“i think it is.” he replies just as gravely, tiny brows furrowing.
it took an hour to get them all clean, between plays and rubbing their bodies—watering your clothes and nanami ones. their cheeks were pink, their blonde lashes wet and clumped, and when they looked at the two of you, the way their eyes lit up—one pair looking exactly like yours, the other exactly like nanami—you swear you fall in love all over again.
you wrapped both of them in towels shaped like animals—a fox for your daughter, a bear for your son—and carried one under each arm like squishy luggage to the bedroom.
and it was friday!! one of the two nights your kids are allowed to sleep in your king-sized bed. your daughter immediately jumped face-first onto the mattress, laughing as she crawled to her usual corner. nanami followed close behind, fingers ready to tickle her sides.
“noooo someone help—!”
“i'll save you!” your son said suddenly, serious as ever. he climbed up behind nanami with quiet determination, arms circling his dad's head like a little warrior. grip firm—but far too small to make any real difference against the solid strength of his father.
still, nanami plays along, “a surprise attack!”
your daughter squealed in delight, wiggling away as nanami collapsed into the pillows, groaning in fake defeat. “too strong…i've been defeated by my own children,” he said, his voice muffled into the pillows.
“you're not allowed to hurt my sister,” your son declared calmly, sitting up proudly on nanami's back like a victorious knight. “she's a princess.” your daughter blinked up at him from her spot “…i'm not that much of a princess,” she mumbled—but the tiny dimples pulling at her cheeks gave her away.
you stood in the doorway, freshly out of the shower, hair damp and arms folded as you leaned on the frame—heart so full it ached a little..
“alright, heroes," you called, "time to settle.” nanami propped himself up on his elbows, glancing at you. his blonde hair was messy, cheeks faintly pink from the wrestling, and yet his eyes locked onto yours with that look—that look, he only ever gave to you. glaring, yes, but full of quiet love, admiration, and maybe just a little longing.
“ewww…papa, stop that. .” your daughter said, catching the shift in his gaze. nanami chuckled at the comment, dimples peeking on his cheeks—the exact same one of your daughter. “sorry, princess. i forgot i'm not allowed to look at my wife.”
you laughed under your breath, crossing the room and climbing into the bed, slipping under the covers beside nanami. he instinctively shifted closer, and your son already pressed against your other side.
nanami's arm rested across your waist lazily, the little twins curled up in their usual places. and for a few quiet minutes, the room was filled only with soft breathing and the rustle of pages from a bedtime book your son was reading—or pretending. he just wanted to copy his dad but will never admit it
then, with a soft sigh, nanami turned his face toward you, leaning in closer, eyes half-lidded. “mmh. just a moment,” he murmured, his voice low and sleepy, as he tried to lay his head on your chest. but before he could settle a tiny hand pushed against his forehead.
firm. determined.
nanami froze. your son, eyes still on his book, said calmly, “no.”
“no?”
“she's my mum,” your son added, now turning his head to look his father straight in the eye—honeyed eyes meeting honeyed eyes, right above your chest. without looking away, he placed his second hand beside the first and pushed, gently but decisively.
you couldn't help it—you burst out laughing, hand covering your mouth as nanami stared at your son like he'd just been betrayed by his own blood. nanami sighed, defeated again. he chose to rest his head on your shoulder instead, arm still wrapped around your waist—as close as your tiny bodyguard would allow.
and somewhere behind him, your daughter giggled sleepily. “poor papa.”
the night softened into warmth—the kind of warmth that fills every corner of your body and slows time. little limbs tangled with yours, three gentle rhythms of breath all around you. your heart impossibly full.
this… this was home. for both of you.
Driving miles and miles isn’t as big of an issue here- it’s if the pharmacy will even dispense or let you have it anymore at this point. This 100% has to do with why you may notice pharmacies closing in your area.
The screws on narcotics, opiates (both medications many elderly folk are on for pain relieving needs or otherwise) and other controlled substances are only tightening and making it more difficult for you to even leave a pharmacy with a medication.
I used to work at a clinic, nearly every week I’d be bombarded by patients telling me their pharmacy is pulling some bullshit out of their ass about their insurance or some other excuse simply because they do not want to dispense them the medication. They usually are not preferable to dispensing a controlled substance someone gets regularly (usually out of suspicion that you’re abusing them)- pharmacies can full on lie about lack of stock and even let other pharmacies know that you’re looking elsewhere to get your medications.
Earlier this year we would frequently get letters from patients insurances telling physicians to tackle down on controlled substance prescriptions for folks who get them regularly simply because they do not want to cover them anymore.
It’s not unreasonable for a pharmacy to close simply because they’re not dispensing people’s medications if there’s an influx of people in the area on controlled substances (like the elderly) and folks go to another location to get what they need. If we want to find out WHY small pharmacies are closing we only have healthcare being a business to blame.
It’s not to say that there SHOULDN’T be regulation- if anything too much of it is exactly what’s tanking some local and smaller pharmacies in rural areas that may depend on local business there to survive.
However there is the big issue of narcotic /opiate addiction as the fact that these drugs can end up in the street via prescription. It’s a mixed bag where both patients and their pharmacies are being at stake here.
The only pharmacy in my home county closed down. It was a Rite Aid. This is a fucking disaster. The population is rural and aging and Internet access is sparse. 20% of those over the age of 65 live in poverty. There is no public transportation. These people will be driving miles and miles to get their medication. Those who cannot drive will be dependent on others. It is so hard to watch my hometown die and kill its residents with it.
#ironic isn’t it?#anyways I hope I made it clear that leaving them without medication is entirely the point here.#that’s exactly what insurances and pharmacies would prefer doing
you don’t really know how you ended up here.
well, that’s not true. you do — you remember the smoke swirling around the living room, the low hum of music in the background, the lazy conversation that turned into lazy touches. the way chris had looked at you with that smirk, those heavy-lidded eyes that meant trouble, the slow way his fingers ran over your thigh while you passed the blunt back and forth. and now… now you’re straddling him on the couch, knees pressed into the cushions on either side of his waist, your hoodie pushed up around your ribs, your shorts long gone. he’s warm under you, hands already resting on your hips like he belongs there. like this is something you both do all the time. it’s not. not exactly.
but maybe it should be.
“you feel so fuckin’ good, baby,” he murmurs, voice already breathy, already dragging through his throat like he’s deep in it. “so tight—holy shit.”
you’re only halfway down.
your jaw clenches, breath catching in your throat. the stretch is slow and heavy, the high making it ten times worse—every nerve dialed up, every breath in your lungs tasting like smoke and tension. he’s not small. you’ve known that. you should’ve remembered that. but you’re too far in to stop now.
“chris…” you whisper, barely a warning. not sure if it’s a plea or a threat.
but he keeps going, hands tightening on your waist like he can’t help himself. “can’t believe how warm you are, shit—look at you. takin’ me so slow. bein’ so good for me.”
your eyes flutter shut, face scrunching, lips parting as you try to focus on breathing. he might be enjoying this part, but you’re hovering between pain and pleasure, trying to find the edge where one bleeds into the other. he groans again—loud, needy—and starts to say something else and nope, you’re done.
you reach out and slap your hand over his mouth.
“chris, shut up for a fuckin’ second…” you breathe, voice cracking, barely able to get the words out as your thighs tremble and you slowly, finally, sink down the rest of the way.
his eyes widen a little, but he doesn’t pull away from your touch. just grins under your hand, groaning into your palm as you bottom out on him with a soft, broken whimper. your head spins. your body goes hot all over. you stay there, not daring to move yet, just breathing, letting your body adjust. your fingers are still pressed against his cheek, your palm over his lips, and he looks so amused by all of this. he raises his brows at you, as if to say, are you done yet? you slowly pull your hand away from his mouth. roll your hips once. then again.
he groans out loud, head tipping back against the couch. “that big, huh?” he huffs a laugh, the cockiness returning full force. “needed to fuckin’ concentrate on takin’ my dick.”
you roll your eyes, leaning forward slightly, your palms flat against his chest now. “i swear to god,” you mumble, “i’ll hold your mouth shut again.”
he’s grinning up at you now, hands moving to your hips again, helping you move, slow and steady.
“ion think you will, ma,” he says, his voice smug. too smug. “not when you feel this good. not when you’re grippin’ me like that.”
you breathe out hard through your nose, trying to hold onto your pace, trying not to lose yourself in how full you feel, how good the pressure is, how he fits like you were built to take him. every roll of your hips makes your stomach flutter and your thighs tremble. he watches you like you’re a damn piece of art.
“c’mon,” he murmurs, guiding your movements, fingers pressing into your skin just right. “tell me how it feels. tell me how fuckin’ big that dick is.”
“chris—” you warn, but your voice falters, choked with need.
“nah, nah. you know you love it,” he keeps going, voice low. “look at that pussy. fuckin’ milkin’ me dry.”
you let out a broken sound, head dropping forward, forehead resting against his shoulder as your pace falters for a second. your whole body feels like it’s on fire. overstimulated and desperate and high—like every word out of his mouth is crawling under your skin in the worst, and best way.
he kisses the side of your face, grinning against your cheek. “you’re so fuckin’ pretty like this. dumb n’ needy. can’t even ride me properly, hm?”
you gasp softly, hips stuttering. “shut up—”
“you can’t even stop,” he says, voice dropping lower now. less teasing. more wrecked. “feels too good, huh? that it?”
you nod, barely. lips brushing his collarbone. you’re too far gone to argue. the way he fills you is too much. too perfect. it hurts a little still, but you love it—you live for this kind of overwhelming stretch. and he knows it. he knows what he’s doing to you. he lifts his hips a little, meeting you halfway.
“fuck, ’s so big…” you moan.
“mhmmm. there it is,” he breathes, hands tightening on you. “ride me, baby. just like that.”
you try. god, you try. your legs are shaking and your thoughts are scattered and you’re doing your best to keep going but it’s getting harder and harder to keep control.
“chris,” you whimper, voice barely there.
he kisses your jaw, still smiling. “you gonna cum?”
you nod, lips parting, breath catching.
“use me, then,” he murmurs, his voice low and hot and sweet like honey. “take what you need.”
and you do. you roll your hips faster now, harder, your thighs burning and your moans getting louder as your body takes over. chris groans under you, hands moving up your back, pulling you closer. your chest is flush against his now, your face buried in his neck, breath hitching every few seconds as the knot in your stomach coils tight and hot.
“thereee ya go,” he whispers, lips at your ear. “come on, baby. fuckin’ cum on this big dick. lemme feel it.”
his hands move to your ass, helping you grind down harder, deeper, until you’re trembling and crying out against his throat. you come hard, body curling in on itself, nails digging into his shoulders as you gasp and whimper, shaking. he holds you through it, whispering praises into your skin, voice cracking with how hard he’s trying not to lose it himself.
“that’s it… that’s it, ma… fuck—”
you don’t even realize you’re crying until he touches your cheek, brushing away the tears.
“you okay?” he asks softly, suddenly all gentle again.
you nod into his neck. “feels too good,” you mumble.
“i know,” he says. “i know, baby.”
you start moving again, slowly, almost mindlessly. still riding the high. still chasing something. he groans, hands on your hips again, letting you keep going even though your legs are weak and you’re still shaking.
“you’re insane,” he mutters. “you’re so fuckin’ perfect. can’t believe—shit—”
you feel him twitch inside you. and then his voice breaks.
“fuck, i’m gonna—”
you squeeze your eyes shut as you feel him throb, his whole body tensing underneath you. he pulls you down hard, hips jerking up once, twice—and then he groans loud into your neck, teeth sinking lightly into your skin as he comes. deep. warm. thick. you both go still.
just breathing. his arms stay around you. your head stays on his shoulder. the air is thick and quiet and buzzing with whatever just happened. a minute passes.
“i really did have to concentrate,” you mumble, half-laughing.
he laughs too, breathless. “yeah? and i made it hard?”
“you never shut up.”
“that’s crazy,” he says, grinning. “because you still came all over me.”
you smack his chest. “shut up.”
he kissed your forehead. “you love it.”
You’re halfway through your research when you notice the silence.
It’s not the comfortable, productive kind of quiet that tends to fall over the apartment while you work. This feels different. Ominous, even. Like there’s something you’ve gotten used to that’s suddenly gone missing.
You sit up straighter in your chair, frowning down at your laptop as you blink sweat out of your eyes. The cursor blinks back at you like it knows something you don’t. The air feels off — heavier, a little more stagnant, pressing down on your skin. Something about it makes your stomach twist nervously.
You push back from your desk and open your bedroom door. Your roommate is exactly where you expected him to be: sprawled on the couch, laptop balanced on his thighs as he types relentlessly away at the coding project he’s been “almost done with” for the past two weeks.
“Hey, Osc?”
He pulls out one AirPod, brushing his hair out of his eyes as he turns to look at you. You can hear his music even from your doorway, the house beats bumping through the tiny speaker. “What’s up?”
“Do you…” you pause, stepping fully into the living room. “Does it feel kinda hot in here to you?”
He presses up on his elbows, tilting his head slightly like he’s registering the temperature for the first time. “Yeah, actually. Weird.” He tosses his laptop on the coffee table, exchanges it for the air conditioner remote. When he points it at the unit and presses a button, nothing happens.
Your eyes flick to the AC unit. There’s no air moving above it. No breeze blowing through the leaves of the plants you’ve stacked across the windowsill.
Oscar tries again, pressing the buttons more frantically as you’ve ever seen him (which is to say, slightly harder than he did before). “It’s not working.”
“Shit,” you say, dread rising in your stomach. “You’re kidding.”
He raises an eyebrow at you, deadpan. “Do I look like I’m kidding?”
He doesn’t. He looks mildly concerned at best, cheeks flushed and sweat starting to dampen the hair at his temples, brow furrowing in that calm, clinical way of his. You can tell he’s already cycling through possible fixes in his mind; to him, this situation is just another puzzle to be solved, an amusing diversion to take up his afternoon.
You, on the other hand, are spiraling.
“Oscar,” you say, words dripping off your tongue, “it’s nearly a hundred degrees outside. There’s been an extreme heat warning this entire week. I saw someone on TikTok this morning fry an egg on the sidewalk. And you’re telling me our AC is out?”
He points the clicker at the unit one more time for good measure. Nothing. Your chest tightens, as you glance down at your phone. 98º, the weather preview reads, next to a bright little sunshine icon. 98 degrees, and it’s barely 9 AM.
“Oh god,” you whine, pressing the heel of your hand to your forehead. It comes away damp. “Oh god, we’re gonna get heatstroke and die in this tiny shitty apartment.”
“Whoa. Okay. Don’t panic,” Oscar says softly, eyes wide, like he’s not quite sure what to do with the freaked-out version of you. He walks past you into the kitchen, filling a glass with water and handing it to you. “Drink this. I’m gonna check the breakers, yeah?”
He disappears down the hall to the fuse box, and you collapse onto the couch where he’d been laying. It’s still warm from his body heat, which somehow makes everything worse. You can already feel your hair sticking sweatily to the back of your neck. The water is lukewarm, but it helps a little.
Oscar’s back a few minutes later. “Did it work?” you ask hopefully, but he’s already shaking his head, holding his phone out to you. You can read the giant, size 128 font your super always uses in his emails from across the room: Building-wide HVAC outage. No ETA for repair.
“Okay,” you say slowly as you sit up, trying to channel some of his calmness. “Okay, we can figure this out. Ice packs. Cold showers. We can handle this. It’s gonna be fine.”
He nods uncertainly. There’s sweat starting to bead at his hairline. “I think there’s a fan in the closet that the people who lived here before us left. I’ll grab it.”
When he returns, he’s carrying the fan under one arm, biceps flexed around the frame. It’s an old thing — white plastic going yellow at the edges, wide square cage locked around three dusty blades, power cable frayed from use.
“That thing looks like it’s going to electrocute you,” you say, eyebrows raised.
He grins, plugging the cord into the wall. “C’mon, it adds character. Ready for sweet, sweet circulation?”
You scramble to the floor, sitting cross-legged directly in front of the fan. “Hit me, Piastri,” you say decidedly, and he flips the switch.
The fan wheezes to life, sort of. The blades creak into motion like they’ve woken up from a decade-long nap, and it only takes a moment before the first gust of air hits your waiting face.
Hot air.
“No,” you moan, and Oscar crouches next to you, hand in the corner of the frame like he’s trying to run his fingers through the breeze. “I thought this was gonna help. It feels like sitting in front of a fucking hair dryer.”
“Maybe it just needs a second to warm up?” he tries, but you’re already shaking your head.
“It is warm. That’s the problem.”
He sighs and sits on the floor next to you, knee brushing against yours. The fan keeps pushing the stifling air at your faces, like it’s mocking you. “Verdict: the fan is shit.”
“The fan is worse than shit,” you groan, letting your head loll against his shoulder. You can feel his skin even through his shirt, warm beneath your cheek. “The fan is actively taunting us. The fan is betraying us.”
“Okay, drama queen,” he says fondly, pulling the cord out of the wall. The fan stutters to a stop and silence falls again, the air feeling even swampier than before.
“We’ve got other ways to beat the heat,” he says, like he’s trying to convince himself and you. “It’ll be fine.”
It’s absolutely, completely, one hundred percent not fine.
“This is hell,” you moan, fanning yourself with an old takeout menu. “Actual hell.”
Oscar swipes lazily at the menu, pulling it out of your hand. “Give me that.” He fans it at himself a few times, before letting it drop out of his hand with a groan.
For a while, it had kind of felt like an adventure. The two of you had dragged your stuff into the living room, worked side by side with bags of frozen peas pressed to your heads, cold beers sweating on the coffee table. The day dragged on, temperature climbing higher, and you’d been forced to get creative. On one trip to the kitchen, you’d figured out it was the shadiest place in the entire apartment, and promptly moved to lay out on the floor, tiles cool beneath your skin. The two of you took turns sticking your head in the freezer, too hot to be self-conscious about how stupid you looked. At least you’d gotten an ancient, frostbitten box of Bomb Pops out of it, long forgotten behind your ice tray. You’d spotted it, pulled it out and split the entire box between the two of you, rationing them like wartime supplies.
But now the popsicles are gone, the last of the beers going lukewarm, and you’re both pleasantly tipsy and running out of ways to keep yourself entertained. Judging from the way the sun is slanting golden through the window, you’re guessing it’s late afternoon, but you don’t dare get up and check your phone. That would mean expending energy and leaving the cold tiles behind, two things you are very much not prepared to do.
“This is such an undignified way to die,” you mumble instead, cheek flat against the cool floor. Your bottle is dripping with condensation, pressed into the skin of your neck.
“We’re not going to die,” Oscar says automatically, sliding down the cabinets until he’s on his back next to you. His hair is plastered to his forehead, cheeks flushed.
You roll your head to the side to look at him. “I’m pretty sure this is how we go out. I’m wilting. I can feel my brain literally melting. Dripping out my ears.”
“Nah, I think that’s just sweat,” he grins, eyes sparkling.
“Ew, Osc.” You wrinkle your nose. “Gross. And also not helping.”
He lets out a laugh, lazy and breathless, forearm thrown over his eyes. “At least we’re going out together.”
“Yeah, put that on the tombstone,” you snort. “‘Here lies two idiots who died because they were too cheap to rent in a building with a competent super.’”
“We’re not cheap,” he protests weakly. “We’re… financially responsible.”
“Yeah, ‘cause it’s so financially responsible to just die of heatstroke.”
Oscar sighs, taking a long swig and then setting his beer down. The glass clinks against the tiles. “Okay. Well, we’re definitely not gonna survive if we keep wearing this much.”
You blink, propping yourself up on your elbows. “What?”
But he’s already shimmying his shorts down his legs, kicking them across the floor to the corner of the kitchen. “It’s basic heat management. Less layers means our skin’ll cool off faster.” He pulls his shirt over his head next, one clean, graceful movement.
And — okay. Okay. You weren’t prepared for Oscar to be shirtless.
You’ve lived together for almost two years. You’ve seen him before, on laundry day in a ratty muscle tank, on the way into the gym, even one particularly embarrassing moment when you walked into the bathroom before he’d gotten dressed, towel slung dangerously low on his hips. But you’d filed the moments away in your head as normal roommate occurrences, nothing to think twice about.
Clearly, you hadn’t been paying enough attention. Because now you don’t know what to do when he’s sitting on the kitchen floor in a pair of grey Calvins, skin flushed golden and peppered with moles, covered in a sheen of sweat. There’s a drop trailing down his chest, catching in the grooves of what look like very defined abs.
You know you’re staring. It’s shameless. You feel a little bit insane, actually. Oscar is… hot?
“You okay?” your roommate says, a little too casually.
“I —” you stammer, forcing your eyes up to his face. “What the hell, Osc. You have muscles.”
“Humans tend to have those,” he replies dryly.
“No, but like, I thought you had programmer muscles. Slouch over a computer all day and code muscles,” you try to explain. “But you look like you could be in like, a sexy sunscreen ad or something. When did you get so jacked?”
He laughs, a little breathless, rubbing the back of his neck. His ears look a little pinker than they were before. You’re not sure if it’s the heat or something else entirely. “I’ve always been like this. You just never noticed.”
You shake your head. “No way. I would have noticed that.”
“Apparently not,” he says, voice a little rough in a way that makes your stomach twist. “Your turn.”
“My turn for what?”
He gestures at your sweat-soaked tank top. “Heat management, remember?”
“Right, yeah. Makes sense. Equal opportunity stripping,” you breathe, trying very hard to sound casual even though your pulse is racing under your skin. You take a breath, averting your eyes to the floor, and tug your tank top over your head.
The air hits your skin first, surprisingly cool. And then, unmistakably, Oscar’s eyes next, trailing down your body, heavy and lingering.
“You’re staring,” you note, and his gaze snaps back to your face.
He swallows hard, rakes a hand through his hair. “Yeah, sorry, I —” His eyes flick back to your chest, like he can’t help himself, then quickly back up to your face. “Jesus.”
You raise an eyebrow, tiny smile on your face. “Humans tend to have those,” you echo him, gesturing vaguely at your bralette, and Oscar makes a strangled noise like he’s choked on his own tongue.
He rolls toward you on the floor slightly, one arm falling lazily over his waist as he looks up at you with those big brown eyes. “You can’t just do that.”
“Hey. You were the one who told me to take my shirt off,” you say, suddenly defensive.
He sighs, scrubbing a hand over his face. “Well, I didn’t think you’d do it and look like that.”
“Like what?”
“Hot,” he says lowly, and now it’s your turn to sputter around your own breath.
“I mean — it is the middle of a heatwave,” you say, voice barely above a whisper.
His eyes find yours. Hold them with an intensity that makes you shiver even in the heat. “You know that’s not the type of hot I meant.”
The air doesn’t feel stagnant anymore. It feels alive between you, some kind of simmering tension that’s using the heat as an excuse to finally, finally boil over.
“Don’t look at me like that,” you say, voice pitching high and unsteady.
His brows knit together. “What do you mean?”
“You’re looking at me like you want to kiss me or something,” you say, breathless.
A beat. Oscar’s lip catches in between his teeth as he looks at you, and you can feel your traitorous eyes drop to his mouth. His grin spreads slowly across his face, like he’s won something he didn’t know was up for grabs.
“I do want to kiss you,” he says. And then he leans in, slow, like he’s giving you the chance to stop all of it in its tracks, until there’s no space left between you.
When his mouth finally finds yours, it’s careful. He tastes like cherry popsicle, lips sticky with the leftover sugar and a salty twinge of sweat. One hand cups your cheek, the other resting tentatively on your waist, thumb skimming at the hem of your bralette like he’s still trying to figure out how far he’s allowed to go.
You don’t want him to be careful anymore.
You swing a leg over his lap, straddling him, knees knocking against the tile. His breath hitches as you settle against him, muscles tense beneath you. “You’re allowed to touch me, you know,” you murmur against his mouth.
He pulls back, chest rising and falling unevenly as he looks up at you. “Just — trying to be respectful,” he says roughly, fingers digging into the skin at your waist.
You smirk, rolling your hips against the obvious bulge in his briefs, hard and thick and throbbing. The groan he lets out is nothing short of filthy. “Osc, I’m literally half-naked on top of you. I think we’re way past the point of respectful.”
It’s like the permission flips a switch inside him. His mouth attaches to your neck, sucking little bruises into the soft skin, and suddenly, his hands are all over you. One sliding down your back, splaying over your hip and rocking you against him, cock rutting against your wet heat through your shorts. The other palming at your chest through your bra, the thin fabric doing nothing to hide the way your nipples pearl under his touch.
“So fucking hot,” he breathes into your skin, pausing between words to suck another mark at the swell of your breast. “Driving me insane, you know that? All fucking day with those shorts and that little tank top.”
You don’t respond. Just reach behind you, fingers nimbly unhooking your bralette, clasp damp against your back. The fabric falls away easily, straps slipping down your arms until you’re bare on top of him.
For a second, you think Oscar might have stopped breathing, hands frozen on your hips, eyes fixed on your tits.
“Oscar?” you say, breathless, rutting your hips against his in a shameless attempt to bring him back down from whatever planet he’s on. He blinks hard, shakes his head slightly like his brain is an Etch-a-Sketch he’s trying to reset. His pupils are blown, eyes wide as he stares up at you.
“Sorry, yeah, I —” he mumbles, and then his head is ducking down, mouth closing around your nipple, warm and wet. His tongue flicks sharp over the nub of it, his other hand coming up to palm at your other breast, rolling the nipple between his fingers.
It feels like he’s everywhere, all hands and lips and tongue, and you gasp, arch your back like you’re trying to get more of your tits into his mouth. He groans around you, teeth grazing against the sensitive area gently. The vibrations go straight to your core. “Osc — fuck — ”
“Good?” he mutters against you, and you nod frantically. His free hand wraps under you, fingers splaying against the curve of your ass, and he picks you up and presses you into the kitchen tile without taking his mouth off you. The move is so absurdly, unfairly hot that the only thought in your mind is why you didn’t let him do it sooner.
He pulls back, and you’re about to whine at the loss of contact until you feel his mouth against you again, pressing messy open-mouthed kisses in a trail down your stomach, tongue dragging against your skin like he needs to taste you. Your fingers weave easily into his hair, tugging loosely at the roots, and he whines.
“Can I —” he breathes when he gets to the waistband of your shorts, looking up at you through his lashes, and you’re lifting your hips in reply before he can even really get the question out of his mouth.
“Please,” you gasp, like he needs any extra confirmation. Like he’s not already hooking his fingers into the elastic and tugging your shorts and panties down your legs.
“Fuck,” he rasps once you’re laid bare in front of him, hand sliding slick up your thigh to your center. “You’re unreal.”
He kisses the inside of your thigh gently, then again. Higher and higher he goes, mouth dragging just shy of where you need him most. “Taste so fucking good already f’me,” he mumbles to himself, almost reverent. “Can’t believe I get to do this.”
Your hips kick involuntarily at the vibration from his words, his breath teasing at your cunt. “Then do it, Osc,” you whimper, fingers tightening in his hair. “Please.”
Apparently your begging does the trick. He plants one hand on your thigh, uses it to pull you towards him, spreading your thighs wide enough to keep them apart with his shoulders, and then presses the flat of his tongue to you, licking a long, hot stripe up your center.
He eats you out like he’s been dying to do it, like he’s trying to figure out exactly what makes you tick, what will make you fall apart the fastest under him. It’s a little sloppy, hot and wet and reckless, but it works — tongue circling around your clit in a way that makes you moan high and breathless. The sound only seems to spur him on, fingers slipping into you a second after that.
Your back arches off the tile at the feeling of his fingers, fucking you open slowly. Not that it’s doing a thing to cool you down anymore. With his mouth and his hands on you, you feel like you’re burning up from the inside out.
When he sucks your clit into his mouth, crooking his fingers inside you, the sensation is nearly too much to bear. “Osc, don’t stop — I’m gonna —” you pant brokenly, hips rocking against his face, his hand.
“Let go. Come on, baby, let me taste it,” he murmurs directly into your core, and your orgasm rips through you, thighs shaking around Oscar’s shoulders. He works you through it, tongue lapping at you like he wants to devour you as you writhe beneath him.
When you finally come back down to earth, you tug him back up your body until you’re face to face. “You good?” he asks breathlessly, looking down at you. He’s so pretty like this — wild-eyed, flushed and panting, hair mussed, mouth shining.
“Yeah. Yes,” you nod, dazed. “So fucking good.” He grins down at you, obviously pleased, if the way his hips twitch into yours is anything to go by.
You reach up for him instinctively, suddenly desperate to taste yourself on his tongue. The resulting kiss is hot and sticky and perfect, even better when you let your hand slip between the two of you to palm at his cock through his briefs. He hisses, jerks his hips forward as you work your fingers beneath the waistband, pulling them down just enough for his length to spring free, hard against his stomach.
He breaks the kiss just enough to shove the briefs down, past his ankles, kicking them to the rapidly growing pile of clothes in the corner of the kitchen. When your hand wraps around him, thumbing across the tip and spreading the wetness gathering there down his length with one experimental pump, he gasps, hips canting against your hand.
“Fuck, you can’t — I’m not gonna last if you do that,” he admits, eyes closed and breathing uneven.
Maybe it’s the heat that makes you bold, or maybe it’s his honesty, saying straight out how badly you affect him. But something makes you grin up at him and say it: “Maybe you should hurry up and get inside me, then.”
His eyes snap open, and he makes a wrecked little noise at that, something between a whimper and a growl. “Fuck. Okay. Condom. In my room, I think —”
You laugh, breathless, hooking one leg around his waist and pulling him down to press his forehead against yours. “I’m on the pill. And I trust you, Osc.”
His eyes flutter shut like that might legitimately be his undoing, cockhead pushing at your slick folds, barely holding himself back. “Jesus fucking Christ. Okay.”
He lines himself up, sinks into you so slowly that it’s torture. The feeling is overwhelming, the stretch, the heat of it. He’s thick, perfect, pressed so deep into you when he finally bottoms out that it nearly steals the breath from your lungs.
“Shit,” Oscar chokes out, helpless. “You feel — fuck, you feel insane.”
You dig your heels into his back, nails dragging over his shoulders. “Probably feel better if you move,” you breathe, and his eyes go dark, pulling out just to slam back into you with a long moan.
He finds a rhythm fast. Messy, desperate thrusts that echo filthily against the tile every time his hips snap into yours, skin sliding against skin. He’s bracing one hand beside your head, the other gripping under your thigh to keep you spread open, flushed and panting beneath him.
“You’re so —” he starts, voice breaking into a moan as you rock your hips to meet him with each thrust, your cunt gripping him warm and tight and ready. “Fuck. Wanted this so bad.”
“You thought about this?” you manage between gasps, and he nods.
“All the fucking time. Jesus, you feel so good,” he groans, voice rough and hot against your ear. “So fucking tight, baby — m’not gonna last.”
You’re a mess beneath him already, gasping and clawing at his back as he fucks into you. “Don’t have to,” you whine as he hikes your leg up his waist, opening you up even more for him. The angle has your vision blurring, seeing stars every time his length scrapes that one spot inside you. “Want you to come, Osc, please, need to feel you.” You clench around him on instinct, and he shudders, hips stuttering.
“Fuckfuckfuck, don’t do that, I’m so close,” he grits out, hand sliding between your bodies to your clit, rubbing tight little circles against you. “Need to make you come first.”
You let out a moan, almost incoherent. You can already feel it building, coiling low and tight in your stomach, sparked by the heat and his voice and the frantic way he’s moving inside you. “Osc, I’m gonna —”
“Yeah?” he breathes, eyes fluttering shut as you pulse around him, so close to falling over the edge. “Do it then. Want to feel it on my cock.”
You come with a yelp, back arching and cunt fluttering around him. A moment later, Oscar’s rhythm falters inside you, and then he’s gasping your name, spilling into you with a groan that vibrates against your skin.
He stays like that for a moment, shivering in the aftermath, pressed fully against you, skin slick and sticky, chest rising and falling in uneven bursts.
“...So,” he breathes, a ghost of a smile on his lips. “That definitely didn’t help us cool down.”
You laugh, breathless. Fucked out. “Not even a little bit.”
“Cold shower together next?” he grins, dazed, cheeks flushed as he waggles an eyebrow at you. You smack him on the arm lazily in response, no real heat behind it.
But you don’t say no. And when he scoops you up off the floor into his arms and carries you to the bathroom, you get a distinct, giddy sort of feeling that no matter how long the heat wave lasts, whatever is happening between the two of you isn’t cooling off anytime soon.
Thinking of mean!Ghost who just... does it wrong.
At first, you were into it. Yeah, maybe you liked being manhandled in bed, liked when he squeezed just a little too hard, liked when he put you where he wanted.
And yeah, maybe you liked being told what to do, liked challenging him only to lose in the most delicious way.
But you've had sort of a shitty day and being called dumb time and time again hasn't had the best effect on your already decaying sense of pride.
"Cmon doll." He sneers, the way you like, pulling your hair a little to get you to look at him.
You'd usually like it, but now it just hurts and you think it's giving you a headache.
He doesn't clock his mistake immediately, only realizing when your wrestling his hand away from you, mumbling about him being too mean.
He's confused, rightfully so, because usually you'd be pulling him closer, asking him what he'd do if you didn't listen.
"Can't hear ya, speak up." His says with his usual gruff tone. He tries putting his finger under your chin, making you look at him-- just the way you like it-- but you're pulling away and he just doesn't understand.
"You're being mean." You say again, unable to look at him.
He tilts his head, looking like you just told him the sky isn't blue.
"You-- huh? You said you liked that." He says, defensive. Like you're the problem. "That's what this whole thing was." He argues as if you're not just trying to have a conversation with him.
"Yeah, but you just..." you start, mulling over your next words. "I... just not right now." You explain.
His words aren't as reassuring as you would've hoped. The opposite in fact.
"So, you just pick and choose when you feel like being degraded and I'm supposed to read your mind?" He says more like a statement than a question. Blunt as ever. Something you usually like but now he's sounding like a dick.
"I didn't say that, I just--"
"That is exactly what you said." He scoffs, pulling away. "Come to me when you're in a better mood, yeah?" He states curtly before just leaving you there to sift and sort through your actions and his words.
------------
You spend the rest of the day holed up in your room. You start to question most of everything, wondering if you were in the wrong and overreacting or if he was being a dick to you. You question if you even want to be around him anymore.
He doesn't give you much choice in the matter because he's at your door at the end of the day, incessantly knocking.
You open the door, much to your annoyance. "I thought you didn't want me around until I was in a 'better mood'." You say, immediately coming in with the venom.
He realized around noon that he was in the wrong and would take whatever you threw at him. He should've listened to you instead of painting you as the bad guy because you didn't stick to a set of rules he made up in his head.
You hadn't followed the agreement in his head, and he had blamed you for it.
He knows now you weren't something he could put in a mold and control. You had feelings too. You weren't a mind reader either.
The silence between the two of you stretches on before he sighs, shaking his head.
"I was being an asshole. Sorry."
"I don't accept your apology. You.." you quiet down. "You hurt my feelings." You admit barely above a whisper.
He sucks in another breath. "I know. I..." He mulls over his own words, looking at you properly now.
Your face was tear streaked, puffy, red eyes and cheeks. All accompanied by dark circles under your eyes.
It wasn't in him to feel bad, but it made his stomach churn and chest tighten in a way he wasn't used to.
"I was being mean, and you didn't like it. I understand that now." He finally says, forefinger under your chin. But he wasn't squeezing, he wasn't grabbing, he was... holding. "I'm sorry." He says again.
You stare at him for a long moment, not wanting to give in just yet, but it was exactly what you needed to hear. Accountability and an apology.
You huff, rolling your eyes at him and pulling away from his hand. It pains him in a way he can't describe. He isn't sure what to do as you take a step back, looking at him again.
His hand falls back down to his side but you haven't shut your door on him yet and that sliver of hope is carving its way up and up and over each vein, climbing higher and higher before burying itself in his chest. His very heart.
"I'll be nicer." He coos, looking at your reaction. You almost seem to recoil at the very thought.
"I don't want you nicer, Simon." You say quickly, the thought almost laughable. Almost.
"Then what do you want?" He says, his voice sounding more pleading than he intended.
"I- I don't know. I just... I don't want you nicer, but I don't want you mean right now." You explain looking at your fuzzy socks, wording it the best way you could.
"Alright. I can... I can do that." He answers as if he knows exactly what you mean.
A breath of relief flooding between the two of you at the same time.
"Don't cry over me though. 'M not worth your tears." He says, smoothing the pad of his thumb over your face again. You hadn't even noticed you started crying again. He doesn't know if he can live with himself knowing he made you cry.
When you start full on sobbing, he pulls you to his chest, walking the two of you backwards into your room, into your bed. You curl up to his side, clinging to his shirt. And despite how uncomfortable he is-- your tears wetting his shirt and all-- he lets you. Cause these tears aren't for him, they're for the shitty day or week or month you've had. That he can live with.
He doesn't question or prod. He just stays.
Plus, he's sure you'll tell him all about it in the morning.
