Thamepo is just so interesting to me. I enjoy this show a lot and I need to talk about it.

It may seem like a pretty common plot —which could have something to do with the fact that it had been in the works for about 5 years before its actual release- but personally I feel like that's what makes it so enjoyable. You can't really go wrong with this kind of plot if it's handled correctly.

And I actually love all the main characters, which is something I usually have trouble with. In most cases I start liking them a lot but as the show progresses I notice that I don't really know all of them as I would like to.

And that's not the case with Thamepo! It makes me so happy; the fact that the show took its time to let us know each of them individually is one of the best things they could've done. This gave them a strong foundation to tell their story.

I know some people feel frustrated about Thame and Po not having scenes together as much as other bls, which is understandable, but I think that with a show like this it's the right way to go. I feel like it was necessary to focus on establishing the whole story and the environment, otherwise it wouldn't be believable. That includes getting to know all the band members, the people around them and the roles they play in their lives. Now that it's all established, they can focus on Thame and Po's relatioship more, which is what it looks like they're going to do; I remember seeing a clip of the actors talking about how surprised they were fans were so invested in the first half of the show because they thought people would start tuning it for the second part, so I'm guessing it's because that's where we have all the romance.

It's great and I love it because once Thame and Po are in a relationship, their dynamic will be very different from those in other shows; Thame is a popular idol and Po is not and that's a problem. This by itself should let us know that they will have a lot of difficulties and we've been given a glimpse of it in the Pepper-focused episode. Once it all begins, as an audience we'll completely believe in everything that happens because we're now immersed in the story and how everything works for people like the Mars' members. They won't need to explain every single thing to us because we already know and understand their situation.

We know because they took their time with the story, and they've done it so naturally. So of course I love it, and I think a lot of hard work has gone into this series and it shows.

I'm confident that if they hadn't done it like this it would have felt weird, absurd and careless.

I’m genuinely so fucking sick of the “you all would have loved it if it was Eddie who made that comment” take.

First of all, Eddie wouldn’t have made comment then, bc he knows how hard it is for Buck to talk about his emotions, & is REALLY good at giving him the space to talk about them, even if he does make jokes, they’re not out of pocket (the coming out scene, anyone? Breaking the tension with a joke & still being supportive without making a joke of his feelings.)

Secondly, even if Eddie DID make that comment, I’d probably still roll my eyes, but I’d be more willing to accept it. Do you wanna know why???

Who was the person that knew the details of what Buck was talking to his therapist about during their emergency session before the Buckley’s visit? Who is the first one they show at Buck’s side when he gets stuck in the warehouse trying to pull Saleh out after learning about Daniel?? Who is the one who was pacing downstairs in the station & making sure Buck was okay after the warehouse, and the one who warned him about his visitors??

Who was the one praying at Bobby’s bedside, right next to Buck in the hospital?

(I’ll give you a hint, it’s not the dude that’s had 10 minutes of fucking screen time that everyone forgot about post s1.)

It wouldn’t have been the same bc TOMMY AND EDDIE ARE NOT THE SAME. They are not on the same level of knowing Buck & understanding when to make jokes & what jokes to make. Your best friend, partner & co-parent of 6 years and the man that you haven’t even called your boyfriend yet are not on the same level of familiarity.

I get that you’re pissed that Tommy is being compared to Buck’s previous love interests (which would be the case, even if he wasn’t just as shitty & uninterested in Buck as a person as they all were) but if you genuinely think that he’s anywhere near Eddie’s level, EVEN PLATONICALLY, then I fear that you have been watching another show entirely, & I encourage you to watch more than just s7, bc that’s the only explanation I can come up with for why this fuck ass take exists.

Shima gives him a grin. He's always grinning, what is he so damn happy about? Does he like being apart of Illuminati that much? For a double spy, Yukio really can't make sense of him.

An unpleasant feeling curled in his stomach. "Mission?" Yukio asks, "What mission?"

He told Lucifer he wasn't here to be apart of Illuminati. Made it explicitly clear. He's only here for the answers he desperately needs. He's been here for two days, to which they regrew his arm but said that the tests would wait, something had come up. Yukio can only imagine what would that be, knowing what's important to the Illuminati.

Shima takes another few turns. He seems very familiar with this place. Yukio, for the little exploring he did, had gotten lost very easily though he would never admit it. Conveniently, there was always someone around to redirect him even though he never asked for it.

The unhidden eyes around the base aren't lost to him. Homare did tell him from day one — they're watching. A warning. Even if Yukio can't see the cameras, he knows they are there.

Honestly? Good anime imo! I really enjoyed Aileen. I enjoyed Claude. I enjoyed Isaac and Keith and Rachel and Almond and Ribbon. I enjoyed Belzebuth and the flock of ducks (Walt/Kyle/Auguste) and Jasper.

i think a lot of plot threads were really unceremoniously dropped and I think it is so evil that gemma gets sidelined so much especially as a woc (which severance seems to be gaining a bit of a track record for now) and ends the season in just a brand new form of pain like jesus fucking christ

at the same time I don't think mark and helly were running away thinking they'd have a life down there they were running for the sake of being alive and together just a little longer & I don't think the implication is that they fumbled the gemma rescue I think it'd be just insane if s3 begins and she's just. Back in there and while some choices are questionable I don't think they'd do that devon and cobel are more than likely just outside. maybe this is too hopeful but it felt clear to me

my hope is for s3 to do due diligence with the way things ended and spend more time with gemma as a main character (hopefully having that time tie in more with devon And Her Kid We Forgot & ricken and whatever the hell he's doing since we've been told they were all close)

season 3 of the bear is so annoying because carmy is just stripped off of all personality and they keep pushing claire down our throats even though literally no one asked for more molly gordon screen time. but at the same time there's some really great episodes (the one about tina and the one about natalie giving birth) and it's so frustrating. and when the show actually tries to be funny it's just down right annoying and stupid (that john cena cameo). it's still a good show but they don't know what to do now that damn restaurant is open 😭

one key way i differ from (some of) my fellow autists at times is idg a sole focus on lyrics in appreciating songs. i know some people that only bring them up as why a song is good. very much the reddit autists who feel like everything is a cleverness competition. dont get me wrong i love when lyrics are good or interesting, and i can appreciate good ones as their own thing, but if the music isnt good im personally not gonna listen to begin with lmao

I've sat on s11 long enough. Yes, I finished it. Yes, I'm procrastinating watching s12. But I've had a lot of thoughts towards the last couple episodes of s11 and how they wrapped everything up. A lot of thoughts...

For starters, I can't help but feel the last episode went TOO FAST. The 11min run time finally doing them in. I was begging them to sit on a couple more scenes instead of speed running through it. Flashback to s10's last episode which also had an incredibly RUSHED ending so I hope this isn't the future.

Me when its kai that almost gets zane to remember :0 Nice narratively since these two had more of a focus at the beginning of the fire chapter so I liked that they tied it back this way. I can't believe that they brought up the pink ninja thing. It's a nice season 1 callback and is a reminder to ME PERSONALLY that they still care and remember the earlier seasons. I'm aware this show has been going on for a long time at this point so I appreciate this kind of thing.

On the topic of Zane and Lloyd, there's something to be said about Lloyd being the one to go find Zane and try to get him to remember. The two lone wolf characters. They're underrated to me and I'm not sure how many people have picked up on the similarities (while also being incredibly different) that these two have.

If I had a nickel for every doomed ship lloyd gets, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice. Ninjago writers are arguably better at writing lloyd's ships then the established ones which no im not salty about why do you ask???

Speaking of which, finally some jaya crumbs. For a ship that's canon yall get nothing I swear. I love that despite nya being a badass she was shooketh after taking out the ice dragon with the land bounty. And jay being like "you can let go now" was really cute. I love Jay being an asshole but equally important I love him being a sweetheart. The duality of man. And then Nya looking for reassurance in jay. PLEASE. SEE YOU CAN WRITE AN ESTABLISHED SHIP ALL YOU NEED IS MEANINGFUL CUTE MOMENTS LIKE THIS AND---*gets dragged away*

ok ok SORRY. Ninjago writers really have no idea what to do with jaya half the time when they dont have relationship drama. It should not be this hard...why do they struggle.

I really liked this fight scene vs the ice dragon in general. Kai regaining his fire was epic. Nya protecting her brother. HECK YES FINALLY NYA RETURNING THE FAVOR HAHAH. They both had similar arcs this season and THE THING THAT GOT THEM TO OVERCOME THEIR STRUGGLE WAS WHEN THEY WERE PROTECTING EACH OTHER WAAAAH.

Jay: Nya! You did it!! Cole: HAHAHA I knew you could do it!!

I still have a lot of questions on Nya being able to control ice tho. If its simply the fact she's able to control it by changing the physical property of ice to water then I'll buy it. But I better not see Nya manipulating ice. That feels....wrong. Like she's a badass but Zane is the ice ninja.

Its getting a little annoying how often Zane is written out of the plot. I wouldn't have minded much this season if it was a one time thing but...we already saw this with season 4. And then s5+ they found so many ways to just write him out of the narrative that its kind of a crime now and its PAINFULLY OBVIOUS WHEN THEY DO IT. I was so hyped during the fire chapter bc FINALLY he was getting something to do that was meaningful to the main plot. And then he's fridged. Again. I think I understand why Zane fans are so loud. He's done so dirty by the narrative. Unlike the other characters who the writers hurt and then give an emotional payoff, there is a severe lack of that with Zane. Its never about HIM. When they hurt Zane the focus is on how the other characters feel. It's grating on me. I know he's a nindroid but bro still has feelings huh??? What happened to how you wrote him in seasons 1-3?????

All I'll say is that they better continue his arc in the next season. How they handled zane in the final episode was the main reason it felt rushed to me. I was not satisfied with the closure to that. It wrapped up and ??? ok...so are we just going to ignore everything? We're just gonna quickly move on? Having Nya figure out that Zane was the ice emperor before even entering the fortress was a cheap way to ignore that character drama of everyone finding out mid battle. Like I get they were lacking in time, but uggghhhhhhhHHHH please the main conflict of the whole season GOT UNDERHANDED????

They literally sacrificed anything more with Zane to close off Lloyd and Akita and Cole and Krag. Which ok. They're never gonna see these two again, so I'm glad that they gave the appropriate amount of time and love for this send off.

Hold on lemme just. No. NOO. IM WEAK FOR CHARACTERS SAYING GOODBYE THROUGH PORTALS AAAAAAAAAAAA. Man wth. These two only had what 5 episodes? But Im too attached to them. The writers are afraid to write zane but they're not afraid to write cole. I swear he gets so many little subplots that are meaningful to his character.

Like mmm. My heart breaking over this scene. The internal dread of realizing that your effort to fix a situation was for nothing, I felt that in my fucking soul. BUT THIS DOES BRING UP AN INTERESTING THING.

Cole losing the traveler's tea did not matter in the end. In fact, if he didn't lose the tea those 2 npc's (who are so married fight me) would be dead, Krag would still be lonely and not find a new family, the berry that actually would get them home would not have been found. Like. HUH??? Bob ross there are no mistakes just happy accident moments, WHAT. Part of me does want to be like, oh so you backtracked on the consequences of actions, but hmmm. I dont mind this, it wasn't his fault that he lost the traveler's tea in the first place. Cole just took it upon himself to blame himself fix their situation. BUT CONTRASTING THIS WITH WU??

I love you Wu, but you're the whole reason everyone is in this mess to begin with. His action with aspheera WAS a choice he made, and he CHOSE to push the ninja that set the plot in motion, HOWEVER, unlike Cole the choice to fix his mistakes is taken away from him. And...idk how I feel about that. Wu is interesting cuz he does make an effort to want to fix everything he's responsible for. But the narrative and ninja don't allow him to. I feel they tried to wrap up his arc in the Kaiju Protocol episode, but Wu forgiving Pixal indivertibly felt like he was accepting that he should let other people deal with his mess. Was it the right call for the ninja to go to the never realm and not him? Ya maybe. But from a character arc perspective it feels like the lesson here was "let the ninja fix your mistakes". Cuz unlike Cole, Wu does NOTHING that actually helps fixes the situation. maybe that was the point??? i just don't particularly like that message's implication

Just an interesting thought I picked up on that has me wondering what the writers were trying to say with this. Accidental mistake = no consequences vs bad choices = severe consequences. But the former is allowed to "fix" it and the latter has to let others pick up the slack? Hmm. Food for thought. Or maybe im reading too much into it

Having said that, crying over this reunion.

so i watched episodes 1-4 of Murderbot yesterday and I'm enjoying it so far. It's taking a minute to get used to how murderbot sounds bc I listened to the audiobooks and keep expecting to hear Kevin R Free instead of Skarsgard 😂 also Gurathin is very different from how I pictured him but I am enjoying this interpretation so far

I did have to pull up my copy of all systems red while watching the 1st ep bc I was like wait a minute Arada & Pin-Lee are together since when??? Looks like they merged Pin-Lee and Overse (and no Volescu) which is interesting. I understand wanting to condense the main cast down (and Volescu is only in the first book anyways) but it'll be interesting to see if that will really impact any future seasons bc Overse has a bigger role in later books that's different from Pin-Lee (who appears to have retained book personality & job just seems to have taken Overse's wife lmao)

FUCK what I said about the majority of significant changes to dialogue in Re:CoM being to adjust Axel's characterization, the most egregious change is actually this

if I had to guess, the reason for this change was because in GBA CoM, The Superior was a spooky, unknown being at the head of this Organization we had very little knowledge on, and for Vexen, the guy who runs his mouth constantly about how much better he is than the others, to be terrified of him, he must be some pretty scary dude. But then after kh2 we know him, it's Xemnas, he's very dramatic, he likes to talk to the moon, and the effect of your mind filling in the gaps about what "The Superior" must be like is gone. So it wasn't really necessary anymore, right?

Except... the way they changed it is so weird. In the GBA version, what's happening is pretty clear:

Marluxia tells Vexen that his project is a failure

Vexen demonstrates that he does not give a shit about Marluxia's opinion

he does care very much about The Superior's opinion, though, and Marluxia uses this to blackmail him into eliminating Sora- an action which is nonsensical, as the entire point of what they're doing needs Sora alive, making it clear to everyone in the room that he is deliberately sending Vexen to die

and then after that, when Vexen shows up to fight Sora, he goes "if you want to fight me for real you've gotta do it in the memories from the other side of your heart lol bye" and Sora goes "huh? other side?" and then it cuts to a scene on the top floor:

and then this gets more into subtext but here, Vexen has realized he's totally fucked and his only hope is to mess directly with Marluxia's plans (well, they were the Organization's plans, but it's pretty obvious by now Marluxia's abusing his power for his own purposes) by giving Sora more information than he should know. This does get the traitor gang worried enough to send Axel to go kill him (as opposed to just letting Sora take care of him, which was presumably the original plan)- he very specifically cuts Vexen off to keep him from saying too much (this is retained between the original and the remake)

Anyway, what happens in Re:CoM sort of follows the same order of events, but everything is changed slightly in a way that just makes things more confusing.

Marluxia tells Vexen his project is a failure and Vexen demonstrates that he doesn't give a shit about Marluxia's opinion, as before

Marluxia threatens Vexen with a weapon, rather than threatening to tell the Superior

this, notably, does not seem to faze Vexen very much. he continues to run his mouth while having the scythe pointed at him.

Xemnas is still leveraged- Marluxia points out it was the Superior who entrusted him with the castle

...even though reasonably Vexen would already be aware of this, and has still demonstrated that he has zero respect for Marluxia despite it

the lines about betraying the Organization being a capital crime are retained, probably because it's super relevant later, but then that line of thinking is abandoned in favor of Marluxia and Larxene just taunting Vexen instead

The part where Marluxia says "do it. you won't" could be seen as a sort of threat... if not for Axel's line: "You give a challenge like that to Vexen and he'll seriously want to eliminate Sora." It frames it all as though Vexen went to fight Sora out of some sort of pride.

And look, Vexen may have a temper and a superiority complex, but he's not stupid. They're obviously baiting him. Plus, what happened to him seeing himself as above the others and countering things he doesn't like with "well actually I'm higher ranked than you and also you're an idiot"? Is he that insecure in his fighting capabilities? I could deal with characterization changes doing him dirty if it didn't also make no sense in the context of the plot.

So now we have Vexen going to try to kill Sora, something that really makes no sense to do, out of pride. What was the purpose of sending Sora to Twilight Town? Also pride, over the fact that he managed to get that information? Giving the writing the benefit of the doubt, I could say that these nonsensical actions can be explained as evidence that Nobodies can have hearts and people with hearts do strange and rash things, but that just feels like a reach, which is bad because what they had in GBA CoM worked perfectly fine and made sense without any reaching for the "idk emotions make you do strange things" explanation.

It continues. After Vexen gives Sora the Twilight Town card in Re:CoM and Sora wonders about what the "other side" means, this is that version of the conversation the top floor members have:

...what? "If Sora disappears, that would mess up the Organization's plans"? what are you worried about? the only reason Sora would disappear is if Vexen killed him. there's no way they think Vexen being in Twilight Town would give him an advantage, right? they know he's a pathetic fighter. "Vexen has clearly committed a treasonous act against the Organization" HOW? HOW IS IT CLEAR? they don't express any worry about Sora learning too much, up until Axel says "I came to stop you from talking too much" when killing Vexen- and that being there makes it seem like they were worried about Sora learning to much, but if that's the case, why would they replace the perfectly serviceable lines in the above scene? it's just... baffling that they would want to lean into the narrative that Vexen going to kill Sora (which he'd been goaded into doing) is the problem here, because it just makes so little sense compared to what it was originally.

once again giving them the benefit of the doubt: Marluxia's real plan was to take over the Organization, and he saw an easy way to pick off one of the members, so he took it. the motive for stopping Vexen doesn't actually matter.

buuuuut it's the same as with Vexen earlier. Marluxia may be too self-absorbed and power-hungry to notice Axel is scheming against him, but he, too, is an intelligent man. he's plotted for a while, getting into Xemnas's good graces in order to be put in charge of the Castle. this is incredibly sloppy for him. I guess it could be said that getting so close to his goal would make him sloppy, but again, if they'd just left things the way they were in GBA CoM, I wouldn't even have to be saying this

in conclusion: GBA Chain of Memories' intra-Organization strife subplot is so tightly woven with calculated moves on all sides that Re:CoM changing certain things without taking into consideration the consequences makes certain parts of the plot fall flat and become far more confusing than in the original story
