WHB demons' favorite horror movies
⟡ Masterlist ⟡
A/N: Another long post including all our demon boys :D Also thought I'd change up the look of these all-demon big posts so lmk if you like this one ^^
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───

Satan
You'd expect him to pick some torture-porn, but he actually picks something supernatural
More specifically a movie with vengeful spirits
People hurting each other? meh... Spirits messing with people bc they're pissed? Well, now we're talking
Favorite movie: The Grudge (2004)
Sitri
Rather than something scary, Sitri like watching something cosy
Doesn't want to spill his tea when a jumpscare gets him
The only time he'll watch something like that is with his partner, so he can hear their heart race
Favorite movie: The Shining (1980)
Amy
(We've had Amy just for a little bit so bare with me)
Rebellious boi allert (?)
Pretty boy loves to watch movies about other boys ^^
Favorite movie: Lost boys (1987)
Leraye
In last year's halloween-themed post I wrote that Leraye doesn't care as long as the movie has thunderstorms in it and I still stand by that
Who has the brain capacity to remember movie names when most of your blood is rushing south?
Paimon
Please, please, please introduce Paimon to Hereditary!
Still, despite the movie literally having them in it, Pai prefers more of a "girly" horror
Favorite movie: Jennifer's body (2009)
Belial
Okay, not really a horror movie fan per se, but a horror musical?
With a lot of good music with funny lyrics?
And the type that Jiyu enjoys singing?
You've got Belial's attention
Favorite musical: Sweeney Todd (2007)
Astaroth
We've got a psychological horror fan on our hands!
Oh, and if the movie has the characters speak in unordinary way?
A local accent or different language has Astaroth interested instantly
Favorite movie: The Vvitch (2015)
Zagan
Zagan likes the old classics
Or the old movies where the characters don't speak
Sadly, he doesn't speak up for himself when the nobles are arguing what to watch, so he has to watch a lot of movies from the others
Favorite movie: Frankenstein (1931)
Ppyong
As brave as Ppyong thinks he is, he doesn't like horror movies that much
Usually, someone has to be with him for comfort and safety while watching anything remotely scary
Favorite movie: Any of the Scooby Doo movies

Mammon
I... don't think Mammon has a preference.
Part of me feels like he doesn't really get the point of watching movies
Like, if you suggest snuggling up and watching something, he'll be all for it, but only bc of the snuggling bit
Favorite movie: Your favorite movie
Bimet
Is anyone surprised that this gold-digger loves any movie that follows wealthy people?
Me neither
Doesn't matter what genre it is, he's The Rich Person Apologist™
Favorite movie: American psycho (2000)
Eligos
Eligos doesn't like scary movies, but(!) horror adjacent movies are his thing
Loves all those teenage witch shows and movies like The Craft
Oh, also Scream Queens ^^
Movie nights with Paimon and Eligos >>>>>>
Favorite movie: Elvira: Mistress of the Dark (1988)
Valefor
Since Valefor like to know about other people's experiences in bed, why not extend that to the type of media he likes?
Found footage feels right to say that Valefor would enjoy
Also, why do a lot of the found footage movies contain sex scenes? :/
Favorite movie: Ghoul (2015)

Leviathan
I bet you expected something Lovecraftian, huh?
So did I, but couldn't find any movie in that genre that would scream Levi's name
But you know who fits his aesthetic perfectly? Tim Burton's movies!
It also kinda makes sense since I'd imagine our poor PTSD-having demon would hate anything making him feel on edge
He's had enough of being scared
Favorite movie: Corpse Bride (2005)
Foras
Ooh, another psychological horror fan!
I also imagine that all the Hades nobles like theatre/musicals/ballet, so let's look for somethin in the middle...
Favorite movie: Black Swan (2010)
Barbatos
You can imagine how Barbatos reacts to most scary movies, which usually consist of dark scenes shot at night
Not to say he won't watch anything with you, but he will complain about how pale the actors are :/
Favorite movie: Midsommar (2019)
Glasyalabolas
Okay, we can all see this coming
This fucker (affectionate) loves his torture-porn
I mean, most of us have read his H-scene
Favorite movie: Hostel (2005)
Orias
Our old/young man loves movies with creepy children since he looks like one of them
Some even give him inspiration for acquiring more souls for himself
Favorite movie: Sinister (2012)

Beelzebub
To capture this idiot's attention, a movie needs to be really interesting to him
Likes his cannibal movies
They, just like to Orias, give him inspo, but this time for recipes
Favorite movie: Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)
Bael
Bael is more grounded with his taste in movies
Still a slasher fan, but more on the realistic side
Imagining him just sitting on a couch/armchair while sipping some tea under a blanket while watching a movie gives me tired single mom vibe idk
Favorite movie: Psycho (1960)
Naberius
An obvious fan of Werewolf movies since he's one technically too
Kinda hopes that he can learn something about controlling his transformation from them
(I don't really like werewolves alltogether so I found this one on google - I hope it's good)
Favorite movie: Wolf (1994)
Stolas
Rebelllious boi 2
If there's guns that shoot, Stolas will watch it bc it goes with his tough guy persona
Favorite movie: The Purge (2013)
Amon
Given that he'll most likely fall asleep during the movie if he's not watching it with Beel or you in the room
Likes 90's movies in general bc they're more chill and more about the vibes
Favorite Movie: Scream (1996)

Ronove
Another torture-porn enjoyer
Surprise surprise?
Yeah, him and Glasya having a movie night is an experience only for the stongest
Favorite movie: Laid to Rest (2009) or The Collector (2009)
Phenix
Phenix loves any and all movies and they don't need to be scary or anything due to their affliction
Still, I think if they weren't under Asmo's influence, they would enjoy a good succubus/siren movie
Favorite movie: Siren (2016)
Dantalian
Yep, another torture-porn fan, except this time for the opposite reasons
Glasya and Ronove look for fun gore, Danta is looking for hot ways to die
Favorite movie: Audition (1999)

Belphegor
Okay, not a movie but an anime
What else would you expect from our weeb snoozer?
Favorite anime: Junji Ito Maniac! (2023)
Beleth
Usually, Beleth loves his mafia type of movies
When it comes to horror, he wants to be laughing hard
Bonus points if he can relate in some sort of sense to the main villain
Favorite movie: Beetlejuice (1988)
Gusion
Teacher boy loves his horror villains S-M-A-R-T
Like the calculated, composed type
Favorite movie: Silence of the Lambs (2001)
Bathin
There's nothing scarier to Bathin than being contained to one place without the possibility to escape
It makes him feel claustrophobic no matter how big the place is
Like you could lock him up in a castle full of spacey rooms and he'll be anxious
Favorite movie: Misery (1990)
Andrealphus
Since Andre can't see, I don't really think he's enjoy movies
He does, however love the audio stuff
Audioboooks and horror game OSTs are his go-to's during spooky season
Favorite audiobook: Between two Fires
Favorite game OST: Layers of Fear
Agares
Since Belphie took Niflheim from him, Agares realised he really loves his vengeful spirit movies
'They took from her so she started taking from them'
or how the quote was in his favorite movie
Favorite movie: The Woman in Black (2012)
Vassago
With his love for speeches and such, Vassago finds himself ofhen enjoying the religious horrors
Bonus points if there actually are some speech scenes
Favorite movie: Midnight Mass (2021)

Lucifer
If there's a movie containing the Antichrist, Luci is interested
He kinda also finds it amusing to see humans fumble with their demon names and stories
Favorite movie: The Omen (1976)
Morax
It might be a bit childish, but Morax likes movies themed around holidays
Bonus points if there is an adorable character
Favorite movie: Trick 'r Treat (2007)
Buer
Buer loves a good mindfuck movie with an unexpected twist
Other psychological horrors are good too, but you know...
There's nothing better than a lore drop that makes you wanna rewatch the movie from beginning and look for the subtle hints
Favorite movie: Orphan (2009)
Marbas
The last member of our gore aficionados
The only struggle for Marbas is to not criticize some anatomy errors of the sfx team
Favorite movie: Terrifier (2016)
Gamigin
It's rare for this babey dragon to watch horrors, but if he's with someone, he will
Once he's watched one already, he's less scared and will watch it again alone
Any movie where he can relate to a character is an instant hyperfixation until another movie comes around
Favorite movie: The Boy (2016)

Alright, finished reading In Memoriam. Walking away from it with a very mixed opinion.
Ancilae creation rules are fine. Nothing there to blow my socks off, but it really drives the point of how slowly the V5 design team wants vampires to grow their disciplines vs the pace it actually happens at at the table (unless your ST cracks down hard on the amount of XP you get per session I guess). The new merits and flaws are also fine EXCEPT Custodian of History.
Custodian of History can go fuck itself and I'm never allowing it at my table. Why? Because as written, it's a 1-dot indulgence you're supposed to buy to be able to READ UP ON (you as in you - the player, not the character) on a particular topic from kindred history, have your character be able to form an opinion about said period, or generally tie them to the metaplot. So it's basically a tax you're supposed to pay for daring to want to connect your character to a topic/time period EVEN THOUGH loresheets cover this aspect just fine.
Idk who proof-read and approved this, but I was never so upset about a merit
Onto the spotlighting of events from kindred history and... well, if you wanted to run Victorian era game, for example, I think this book is not gonna help you a whole lot. It paints in very broad strokes so yeah... You're better off adapting stuff from the actual Victorian Age Vampire book. Also don't expect anything farther back than the 1700s. Having said that, two of the events it spotlights caught my attention.
The Trail of Mirrors! When Kementiri arranged her capture by the Camarilla only to fuck with them. Look, it's Kementiri shenanigans, what more do I need to say? It's hilarious when a terrifying methuselah makes it feel like a Scooby Doo episode.
The second are the Blood Hunts of Prague. The most outstanding issue I have here is the writers referring to "Old Clan Tzimisce" as though they were still a distinct bloodline (which in V5 they are pointedly not) and even then, they're using it wrong, because they're referring to Shaagra who has Vicissitude and therefore can't be of the Old Clan line. Anyway, my obligatory Tzimisce rant over.
Now, the good stuff! I personally loved the chapter about the psychology and humanity struggles of the ancilae. The book introduces a concept of Desolation - basically a vampire mid-life crisis where they're accustomed to being undead, but all their touchstones are already dying of old age. It talks about transferring convictions and how it can alter the relationship with touchstones or even warp it. I think it's a brilliant concept.
Expanded Memoriam rules - honestly, I have no opinion there, I've never used the regular ones, and while it's a cool concept on paper, I'm not sure how to properly implement it in play. Your milage may vary.
Loresheets! Look, they gave me a Dracula loresheet, it's very good, very thematic, I'm happy. The rest are fine? They introduce this organization called the Order of the Repentant, but there's barely any detail about them.
The section about considerate play in historical settings doesn't really say anything that's not been said in the normal considerate play section.
Overall, not bad, not amazing, In Memoriam is, in my opinion, just fine. It's an okay supplement.

Rare Warner Bros. Animation pitches from the Seven Arts era!
Source: https://wile-e2005.livejournal.com/267115.html
"Currently there's a batch of very rare (and very EXPENSIVE) animation cels made by Warner Bros. Animation during the infamous Warner Bros.- Seven Arts era of 1967-69 (in a way, it now feels like a precursor to the current Warner Bros. Discovery mess) that are all pitches for potential new projects from the cartoon studio! Fellow animation enthusiast on Facebook, Anthony White, has saved copies of the images and has given me permission to re-post these images. I am posting this to commemorate today being the 20th anniversary of the premiere of "What's New, Scooby-Doo?", a show from the same company 35 years later that I've often compared to the Seven Arts cartoons (but are a lot more realistic).
These were bought by someone else at the William Hendricks Estate Sale a few years back (Hendricks was executive producer at Warner Bros. Animation during that time), and according to Jerry Beck, sold for hundreds of dollars. But now you can all see what they look like, as we take a look at What Could Have Been during that turbulent era… or what we're glad didn't happen due to Kinney National buying Warner Bros.- Seven Arts, kicking Seven Arts out of the picture and closing WB Animation (until they reopened in 1980). Don't expect a lot from your favorite Looney Tunes pals, as during this time Warner Bros.- Seven Arts didn't really want to use their classic cartoon stars in new material, since they already had a good-sized library of shorts to rerun on television, and they wanted to try and work on fresh new ideas and characters (and veteran director Robert McKimson sure wasn't happy about that).
Either this was going to be a series of Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies shorts aimed at more mature audiences (in the vein of their "Norman Normal" Cartoon Special), or it was going to be a primetime animated series. Warner Bros. Animation was already planning such a series, an adaptation of the "Li'l Abner" comics, but that got scrapped due to the studio's closure. Doesn't look like it would interest children, which might be a reason why it was never made.
The studio had already done quite a few cartoon shorts based on Robin Hood (most famously 1958's "Robin Hood Daffy"), and so I can't imagine them doing a whole series of Looney Tunes shorts based on the stories. Ultimately, Disney would do it better with their 1973 animated feature with an all-anthro animal cast.
"Time Flies" sounds like an unusual name for a series; I'm guessing that would've been the name for the cartoon that introduced these characters, feeling a lot like a knockoff of Mr. Peabody and Sherman. Maybe this was scrapped and re-worked into the infamous 1968 Daffy vs. Speedy cartoon "See Ya Later Gladiator" (the time machine sure looks similar, especially the "ALERT" indicator).
This sounds like it was going to be a TV series (but Hanna-Barbera had already beaten them to the punch with "The Arabian Knights"), or a series of theatrical shorts, with each one telling a comic adaptation of one of the "Arabian Nights" stories.
This series is the first of several pitches to use a pun-based title, where the titular "modern" man Connecticut Yankee ends up back in the days of King Arthur, and his contemporary inventions and trends either fascinate or scare King Arthur and his men, like in this cel where they are freaked out among seeing Yankee light up a cigar (with a HUGE flame coming from the lighter!) Of course back then, smoking was still considered acceptable practice in the Warner Bros. cartoons, but here it could also be a reference to when King James of England thought smoking tobacco was evil and attempted to ban it, but with no success.
I can see why this one wouldn't have gotten off the ground. Warner Bros. Animation and several other cartoon studios have already done these kind of shorts way back in the 1930s, and they decided they didn't need more of the same.
Lo here was previously introduced in the rarely-seen 1968 Merlin the Magic Mouse Looney Tunes short, "Hocus Pocus Pow-Wow." I suspect he was also going to star in his own series of shorts, alongside his family life and the rest of the Native American tribe. I guess it's a good thing Lo didn't get his own series, as even by the late 1960s Native American stereotypes like these were getting under hot water. (But that didn't stop Warner Bros. Animation from visiting the concept one more time with the Cool Cat short "Injun Trouble!")
This obviously wasn't going to be a Looney Tunes or Merrie Melodies short, but a Christmas Special in the vein of "Norman Normal" being a Cartoon Special. I can't really see this working as a six-minute short, with the jarring shift from a serious story of the Three Wise Men to a comical Santa Claus tale. Perhaps it would've been a two-reeler featurette, with the two halves running at eleven minutes or something and getting their own introduction. In that way, it possibly would've been neat to see, especially Warner Bros. Animation attempting realistic detailed art and animation like they would starting with their DC Comics shows beginning in the 1990s. And I wonder who they'd hire to sing?
This one obviously looks like it was going to be a TV series; this concept just doesn't work with Looney Tunes. Warner Bros. now already had the rights to the "Johnny Cypher in Dimension Zero" animated series produced by Joe Oriolo and several Japanese companies, distributed by Seven Arts Television, and I guess they wanted to make their own in-house action adventure cartoon series. Had this happened, it would've been the studio's first of its' kind, predating "Batman: The Animated Series" by 25 years or less! It does feel a lot like the kind of action cartoons Filmation and Hanna-Barbera were producing at the time, and I suspect this would've been a Saturday morning program, but I'm guessing the parental complaints about violent action cartoons on Saturday mornings at the end of the 1960s put a halt to this, if it wasn't the studio's closure.
There have already been a bunch of cartoons about child geniuses, so Warner Bros. Animation tries to throw a curveball here by making it a girl. She already looks very different from the standard art style of the Warner- Seven Arts era, let alone the Looney Tunes franchise as a whole! It feels more like something UPA or Paramount Cartoon Studios could've done. I wonder who would've done Jeanie's voice; for the two "Bunny and Claude" shorts Pat Woodell of "Petticoat Junction" voiced Bunny, and Larry Storch did a few incidental female voices as well. I don't know if the studio would've been able to get June Foray at the time...
During this time, Warner Bros. Animation had played around with the circus concept in the Cool Cat short "3 Ring Wing Ding", and so I suspect they wanted to do a whole series of shorts about a goofy circus. Get a load of all the alternate titles; I suspect each one would've been a different cartoon short's title had this become a series.
This one particularly reminds me of "What's New, Scooby-Doo?" in that it takes a classic property (in this case, the "Gulliver's Travels" story) and updates it to be more modern. They also tried the same thing in 2003 with a series of new Looney Tunes shorts intended for theatrical release, placing familiar classic characters into newer scenarios and with modern inventions and trends. (Like that Cartoon Network "What's New, Scooby-Doo?" promo said: "Same dog, new tricks!")
Take the 1968 Hanna-Barbera primetime TV series "The New Adventures of Huckleberry Finn," get rid of Becky Thatcher, add Merlin the Magic Mouse and Second Banana, and you've got this! I suspect it would've been a theatrical featurette, as the plot does sound more lengthy than your average Looney Tunes cartoon short; plus the blurb does mention it's a "special." (Despite the cel being all cartoon drawings, it would've been a combination of live-action and animation, with the live-action Sawyer and Finn exploring the world with the animated Merlin and Second Banana, again like Hanna-Barbera's TV show.) I suspect among learning Hanna-Barbera was planning such a premise for a primetime TV show, Warner Bros. Animation scrapped this.
Hobo cartoons were pretty much out of fashion by the 1960s. Of course, it didn't help that the studio's main writer, Cal Howard, had largely worked with the studio in the late 1930s-early 1940s before this era, so I guess he was pretty out of touch.
It sounds like this could've been in the vein of Tex Avery's "World of Tomorrow" cartoons of the late 1940s and early 1950s, and other similar "future" cartoons showing what life would be like then. This probably would've actually made for a fun one-shot cartoon like that. Of course, 2000 has come and gone, and we've yet to have such a vehicle to commute us to the moon and back! (NASA is still working on their plans to build a moon colony, though!)
Warner Bros. Animation would later revisit this concept in their "Tiny Toon Adventures: How I Spent My Vacation" direct-to-video movie, only with an antagonistic toad as the captain. This might've been interesting to see, though. Note how many of these pitches star human characters; I guess Warner Bros. Animation knew they already had enough "funny animal" cartoons and characters, and wanted to go a different direction, sort of like how UPA preferred having human cartoon stars in the 1950s (though animals sometimes appeared in them).
OK, if this one got made, I probably would've loved this as a kid, since I was into trains since such a young age. Even if it sounds a lot like "Porky's Railroad", it seems like a fun concept (plus, the Zip-Along Special is described as being like a passenger train, compared to Porky's train pulling freight). I could also see this crossing over with "Hobo Bo" as well.
Now here's something that did indeed get made into a finished cartoon; titled of the same name and released as a Looney Tunes short on September 14, 1968 (hey, that was 54 years ago today!) But the characters' designs were changed a little and they were renamed Ace (the American pilot) and Fritz (the German baron). Maybe it was because the Warner Bros. Animation crew learned of DePatie-Freleng developing the similar Roland and Rattfink, and retooled this to be somewhat similar before Roland and Rattfink's first cartoon (which is also a World War One airplane dogfight cartoon like this, "Hawks and Doves") got released. Not surprisingly, it didn't get far past one cartoon.
First off, the name is virtually identical to a 1952 Robert McKimson-directed Looney Tunes cartoon starring Daffy Duck as a private detective. And then Hanna-Barbera reused the name in 1959 for a cat detective appearing in "The Quick Draw McGraw" show. Additionally, this clearly appears to be based on "Get Smart," being a comedic spy series starring a bumbling agent. Given that approach, this could've been somewhat interesting to see. WBA layout artist Jamie Diaz also drew a model sheet depicting Snooper, Debra and 'The Eye'.
As the description mentions, Spooky was introduced in the 1968 Cool Cat cartoon "Big Game Haunt", which I feel was the beatnik tiger's weakest cartoon short. He's pretty much an obvious knockoff of Casper the Friendly Ghost, and I suspect if this got made into a full series (where Spooky would've had a human friend named Buddy, no relation to the bland 1930s Looney Tunes star), Harvey Comics could've sued Warner Bros.- Seven Arts for copyright infringement, especially since Casper had a friend named Spooky the Tuff Little Ghost.
But Spooky's design would be modified somewhat and re-used for the three ghosts appearing in the 1987 Daffy Duck short "The Duxorcist" (later integrated into the following year's compilation movie "Daffy Duck's Quackbusters").
This doesn't sound too original, as we've already had enough caveman cartoons where they live a "modern" life, and I don't just mean "The Flintstones!" (Warner Bros. Animation had already produced such a short in 1959 and released in early 1960, Robert McKimson's "Wild Wild World".) But the concept of Rock inventing modern devices and calling them strange names sounds pretty amusing. (Kind of reminds me of Dr. Nobel Price from "Sesame Street," the way he "invents" things that already exist bit gives them strange names, like calling a record player a "groovy table," a pair of socks "foot snugglies," a piano a "tinkly table," a microphone a "talky stick," and even "inventing" a robot double of Kermit the Frog named "Sherman the Hoppity-Hop!")
Another attempt at "modernizing" something classic, in this case, taking the Old West but adding modern vehicles and having characters speak what is called "now talk." This probably would've been more of a "Weird West!"
Forgiving the corny pun in the title, this doesn't sound that promising, as it's another attempt from the studio at trying to be relevant. And then over 35 years later, Warner Bros. Animation would actually get Don Ho to sing in "Aloha, Scooby-Doo!" (And that turned out to be quite a bore.)
Now THIS one also got made into a finished cartoon, as I talked about earlier this year. But here, the boy is named "Lonzo," while in the actual cartoon no name is given (I suspect he was just called "Zee" for that.) And again, this ended up not getting very far after only one cartoon short, even if it was one of the better ones of the era.
Near the end of this infamous run, Warner Bros. Animation had even actually written some cartoon shorts that were to star Mack Sennett's Keystone Kops, but the studio's closure in 1969 brought an end to them. At least this would've been an adaptation of an existing property rather than a knock-off.
Another really out-of-fashion pitch based off something that Warner and other cartoon studios parodied back in the 1930s. Of course, Jay Ward Productions had much better luck parodying those old-timey mellodramas in the 1960s with "Dudley Do-Right", and so that's what probably enticed Warner Bros. Animation to try it here. Hanna-Barbera would also take their own spin on it, with the "Wacky Races" spinoff "The Perils of Penelope Pitstop," and that seemed to be executed much better than how this would've turned out. I also can't really see a three-part serial working as a six-minute short; maybe this was going to be a Saturday morning cartoon as well?
Really, there was going to be a Speedy Gonzales/Daffy Duck cartoon where they meet a leprechaun in Ireland? Maybe the WBA crew realized that wasn't going to work, and they instead re-tooled it into 1969's "Shamrock and Roll" starring Merlin the Magic Mouse and Second Banana, with a more rascally prankster leprechaun named O'Reilly with a fondness for watches and clocks.
Another attempt at a new human cartoon star. In this case, he's like UPA's Mister Magoo, but rather than nearsightedness, he suffers dementia, which is no better. No doubt they were trying to cash in on the success of Disney's "Absent-Minded Professor" movies.
Of course, THIS needs no introduction. It eventually became my favorite of the Warner Bros.- Seven Arts cartoons: "Rabbit Stew and Rabbits Too" in 1969! And look: Quick Brown Fox is actually brown here, compared to being orange in the finished cartoon. Jack Rabbit would be renamed Rapid Rabbit, recolored brown (and looking more like the Nesquik bunny as a result), and made to act like a weird cross between Bugs Bunny and the Road Runner, rather than just like Bugs as seen here. (I wonder if Robert McKimson came up with this to annoy the Warner Bros.- Seven Arts executives for not letting him use the famous classic Looney Tunes characters?) And as I said, a series of cartoons featuring this duo was planned, but only one ended up being made due to the studio closing that year.

Doctor Who Season 2 Review

Here's my review that isn't really a review of the second series (season?) of the RTD2 era for anyone who cares! Let's start with...
The Characters - 9/10

Ncuti continues to be a delight (rip 😢) and Verada Sethus performance as Fifteen's new companion Belinda is a breath of fresh air.
Her just wanting to go back home instead of just being another earth girl for the Doc to run around with is a nice change.
However, as much as I like Belinda, I never really bought her relationship with the Doctor and I think a few extra episodes would have helped with that.
And the side characters? Fine I guess.
UNIT still doesn't really do it for me, I honestly just roll my eyes whenever they're involved. I prefer how RTD handled them in his first era where they'd appear here and there to help the Doctor or clean up after him, I'm not really a fan of the Marvel style thing they're going for.
The Monsters & Villains - 8/10

They're all great. Honestly, I have no real criticisms of the rogues gallery this series.
Did I like some over others? Sure, but that's always been the case for Doctor Who it's to be expected, not every monster is going to be a Lux y'know? We're gonna get some mediocre villains here and there.
If I had one criticism, it'd be the returning villains from classic who. I don't like how The Rani and Omega were handled, especially the latter.
Is Russell just surrounded by yes men? Who thought bringing back Omega as another live action Scooby Doo monster was a good idea? What was even the point???
The Writing - 3.5/10

Sorry, but it's just a bit shit.
Russell's heart is just not in it and it shows.
It just feels so lazy and unoriginal, like, as much as I enjoyed The Well did we really need a sequel to Midnight? Did we really need to see what it looked like? Nothing about the episode changes if you take out the connection with Midnight, but having that connection sort of leaves a bad taste in my mouth because I think what made Midnight so great is the mystery around it and all that has been ruined a little by a sequel episode that really didn't need to be a sequel.
The series just feels very rushed and not very well thought out and that's such a shame. I mean, the stuff with Poppy was just awful what was going on there.
Lux slaps though.
The Visuals - 9.5/10

Stunning, what else can I say?
I do miss the rubber costumes, practical effects, endearingly bad CGI, and overall camp look of the old series, but in the big 2025 when you're competing against shows that have movie level visuals well, yeah, it makes sense to put that Disney cash to good use.
The Score - 10/10

I mean, it's Murray Gold? Like the name suggests, everything he makes is gold.
The Regeneration - 7.5/10

Y'know what? It fucking got to me man.
The music, the visuals, Ncutis performance, yeah, it actually made me choke up a little and that's crazy because the 15th Doctor is far from my favourite incarnation, I don't even think he makes the top 10, but I was still so sad to see his time as the Doctor come to an end so quickly.
And then the 16th Doctor is revealed and it's *drum roll*
Oh, it's Billie Piper.
Yeah, I'm not a fan of this casting. Nothing against Billie Piper she's a great actress and was great as Rose and hell she may even be a great Doctor, but I'm just not a fan of the nostalgia bait that was clearly done as a desperate by RTD and the BBC to increase ratings for the show, similar to what they did with Tennant and I wasn't really into that when it happened either.
I'm not gonna stop watching the show because of this, hell, I didn't quit when Chibs was in charge so I'm not gonna just quit now.
At the end of the day if Ncuti wanted to leave then that's absolutely fine and I hope to be proven wrong about this casting in the future.
Episode Ranking

Lux
The Well
Wish World/The Reality War
Lucky Day
The Robot Revolution
The Interstellar Song Contest
The Story and the Engine
Lux was the Heaven Sent of this series
The Well was good, but I didn't like that it was a sequel to Midnight.
Wish World, The Reality War, and Lucky Day are just fine with certain elements that I really don't like *cough* Omega *cough*
The Robot Revolution, Interstellar Song Contest, and the Story and the Engine were all bad/boring episodes.
Pretty rough batch tbh.
NuWho Series Ranking

Series 15 (Season 2)

I was this 👌 close to putting 14 over 15 but Lux just pushed it that little bit higher even though I think the previous serious was better overall.
I just love the silly cartoon idk sue me.
Overall the episodes were fun to watch but once you start thinking about them more they tend to fall apart,
but I will still take a bad series of who over a boring series and that's what you're going to get with RTD at the helm.

Chloé Bourgeois, Zoé Lee, and Sabrina Raincomprix Redesign

For Chloé's redesign, I really wanted to heavily play into the idea that she wants nothing more than to impress her mother and I took it and ran with it
For her main outfit, I wanted to make her appear like a business woman, so I gave her a white dress with short sleeves and a small window on the front (there's shorts sewn into the skirt)
Her hair is up in a bun for two reasons: 1. it further helps bring together the "business woman" look she wants herself to have and 2. She may or may not have a massive crush on Marinette and copied her
She's one of the few characters who wears makeup, being the golden eyeshadow and eyeliner she wears
Her camouflaged Miraculous was pretty easy to redesign since I wanted it to be something she could wear often without it being noticeable
She's a closeted lesbian because she wants to be perfect, so she refuses to express these "bad" thoughts she has
She's French and American, I'm not entirely sure what ethnicity Audrey is but I like the idea of her being American

For Zoé's outfit, I wanted to show just how much control Audrey had despite being absent
Zoé wears a crop top to "show off" because that's what Audrey expects of her, she wears heels because that's what Audrey wants her to do, but Zoé doesn't wear an outfit that makes her mother proud, she wears an outfit that specifically uses what Audrey asks of her and makes it as horrible as possible (Bad color combo, heels with shorts, a cropped hoodie (that Audrey despises) and so on)
I doubt this outfit will be very prominent in the story as she'll get a new one not too long after her introduction but I wanted to show off what she typically wore prior to moving to Paris
While unconfirmed in canon, she's a lesbian in my rewrite and very proud about it
And she's American and Italian for no reason other than because I feel Audrey wouldn't date (let alone have a child with) anyone who wasn't at least somewhat famous

For Sabrina's redesigns, I wanted to heavily play into her acting as Chloé's servant, so she wears a yellow outfit as a way to show Chloé's power over her
I made her hair redder and her eyes more turquoise because I wanted her to stand out a bit more since so many characters have blue eyes and I wanted to make her being a redhead a bit more a part of her character
Her hair is in two braids because I both really like the style and to show how she's keeping herself separate from everything and when she eventually leaves Chloé, she'll let it down
She's a lesbian and is absolutely infatuated with Chloé which is partially why she puts up with Chloé as much as she does
While unintentional, her outfit, hair, and glasses make her look like Marcy from Scooby-Doo Mystery Inc. and I honestly love that, especially since the two are perfect parallels to each other

Lady Whistledown.... OK on the parenting front. We all need to step into Narnia for a moment and forget he ever did cameos. Everything we know simply exists in the 911 universe as Canon. So you must understand that in this universe (thanks to Lous head canons he was paid for) he lost his mother at a young age and his father was a bully he ran from. And also the bachelor party was a way of showing Tommy as the mature one and carefully crafted to show that Eddie and Buck are just like play mates.
Tommy because he lost said mother so young will be the one to identify with Christopher and coax the young boy home. And if Christopher runs again because Eddie does something terrible. Well, our savior, Tommy will be the one to think you know maybe he went to Shannon's grave stone. He shall arrive and talk to the boy again. Because see clearly Buck and Eddie do not have the emotional capacity to accomplish this.
Also yes secretly Eddie is probably a little mad and jealous of Buck. You see, he did not realize when Tommy was courting him it was actually and option he could say yes, and now Buck stole him. But never fear Tommy will confess to Buck he was like 50th choice and because Buck loves Eddie so much he accepts being Eddies second choice to keep his family..
And your question on them realizing? Yes, after the hospital kiss, we were supposed to get more friend time of Eddie and Tommy. Tommy and Chris. All four at dinner together bonding. We got literally 2 scenes! Also, yes, they desperately wanted that dinner scene to contain the word boyfriend or love confession, so they didn't have to worry all summer.
Also deeply disappointed that the Hen Karen and Tommy scene was cut because that is probably where Hen on screen declares for the GA stop being mad at Tommy. See, I'm black and queer and my beautiful smart wife even loves Tommy. When I said "finally " to Karen, it was about both Tommy and Buck!!! Duh!!!!
So hopefully, that explains the "Christopher had three dads" PR department.
But also, when they were really, really mad at us, because we were so evil smart we were able to hack Lous personal Twitter and set him up as a racist. Maybe they should find a way of making sure they unmask us like the Scooby Doo villains we are to Oliver. Then Oliver would understand how toxic we really are.
But stepping out of Narnia. My impression on the Eddie front is that it's turning desperate in ways to make Tommy more relevant than he actually is to the story because it's the only way to get him more screen time than Karen. We all know that's never happening. They can't stand he will only exist in scenes with Buck if back and not on the forefront of the firefam. A family he definitely isn't a part of.
Hey, baby 🩷🩷 laughter doesn't begin to cover the sounds I was making while reading this. I will say I did not keep up with his cameos so this is all news to me so I'm loving it. The level of delusion. I'm speechless. So Tommy is the mature one and Buck is just there. Eddie being above Buck in the poli version is hysterical. Boy can't get a single win, huh? So they were expecting the Hen seal of approval and a place in Eddie's life and they got... That. That's nice. I feel better for the chaos reading this, ngl, I see you and feel the urge to pop some popcorn.
I mean, Taylor got a dinner with Eddie and Chris, even I thought the dude was gonna get something after 706. But I agree with your assessment, everyone knows the only way a love interest is gonna have a fighting chance is if they exist outside of Buck. And Tommy has possible threads that the show deliberately didn't pick because, hello, hello, he is not part of the family. God, I'm BEGGING for the show to give us something that explicitly contradicts as many of Lou's cameos as possible. (Does anyone have a bullet points list of those, because I legit lost track and I'm curious)
I maintain what I said when the hacking drama was happening tho, as your local buddie shipper computer scientist, I speak for all of us that if we were going to hack something, it would be the abc servers to get the karaoke scene. And, also, being a bad person never made a love interest leave the show, why would anyone bother making him look bad?
I'm still giggling at the Tommy/Eddie of it all. Like, if Tommy wanted Eddie and Eddie wanted Tommy and Buck is just a means to an end, and Tommy is a better parent, then what's the purpose of Buck in their heads? Does he just look pretty and gets fucked? This is madness. MADNESS.

Adult Scooby-Doo TV Show Pitch
So, the idea with my theoretical Adult Swim Scooby-Doo TV Show is to avoid any inclination this is a reimagining. I'm envisioning this is as being a sort of continuation of the concepts and story present in Zombie Island, Witch's Ghost, and Alien Invaders. But, attempting to keep up the original episodic format of "Where Are You?" and breaking some limits of what you can put these characters through.
Part of the reason "Zombie Island" works, is because these are the same characters we grew up with. But they're a little older now too. They all have jobs, they're long past high-school, they have adult expectations. But for the most part, Hanna-Barbera doesn't change anything about Mystery Inc's personality, and instead drops them into a scenario that is dark and gritty. Which makes it far more terrifying.
But another reason is Zombie Island keeps the inherent comedy without sacrificing the horror. Good stuff.
So how do you take the concepts of Zombie Island, and transform it into a monster of the week Scooby-Doo show?
Coast to Coast with Scooby-Doo!
Part I: The Plot
After the harrowing experiences dealing with true brushes with the supernatural and the paranormal, Daphne Blake is now more convinced then ever that she needs live footage of a real honest to good ghost. If they can get one on camera, and report it, this will be the find of a century.
Sticking with the original plan, Scoob & The Gang travel across America investigating real folklore and horrors, in hopes of finding something real.
Part II: The Formula
So, Coast to Coast With Scooby-Doo is kind of a mix of genres. But for the most part, I want it to be a Horror Comedy Mystery show, but it's also a road trip show. One of the things I liked about Zombie Island, is that it took place in New Orleans, and introduced us to real New Orleans cuisine. From beignets, to po' boys, crawdads, gumbo and jambalaya. But it also told us about the voodoo scene in New Orleans.
I'm now dead set on heading out to New Orleans sometime just to try the food, and I think that's something that can really help drag Scooby-Doo down to earth. It makes you really want to visit these places, and maybe investigate a haunting while you're there too.
So, here's the setup.
Spooky Cold Open, probably a Murder
Theme Song
Scoob & The Gang ride the mystery machine into town, probably with some sort of banter. Velma brings up where they're going, and Shag is like "Yo man, it's been a minute since we've been out to New York! You guys think Trinidad Golden Palace is still open? Like they had one crazy Shark Sandwich dude!" Then another member of the gang brings up they're actually looking to go to the statue of Liberty, where, by the way, there is ACTUAL rumors of buried treasure and ghosts. This changes depending on local
The gang stumble upon mystery, ask questions, find out gruesome details, meet suspects. Daphne & Fred interview some people.
They film the hauntings as they're happening, and search for clues.
Then, as the episode progresses we figure out whether or not this thing is real or fake. If it's real, the gang have to find a way to take down the monster using ingenuity and what they've found in the episode, or they have to capture the culprit and breakdown the mystery.
Small things, but I feel like having a constant bet between characters whether or not it's real or if it's fake would be something really fun actually. I think the audience would have fun getting in on the question too, and guessing along with the gang.
Part III: The Adult Part
So, this is a show for adults, but the fact it's FOR adults will not override that it IS Scooby-Doo. Which is to say, that it will have murder, swearing, mentions of sex, but it will not go beyond what you expect in terms of tone from Scooby-Doo. It's a fun horror comedy mystery show about 4 friends and their dog who investigate spooky mysteries. You can't change that core premise or you risk it no longer being Scooby-Doo and something else entirely.
So if you need a member of the gang to swear for a scene, you can, but it can't breach too far out of character for the group. Like Fred can say fuck, but he's still the leader Dad type guy who likes Daphne, and likes building absurd rube goldberg type traps. Shaggy can smoke weed, but he's still the goofy moral center of the group. He makes fun sandwiches, he cracks dumb jokes, he's scared of getting stabbed, but he sticks around for his friends. Velma can be a lesbian, but she's still the quirky smart character who loves books and science.
But most importantly you need to make sure it's still abundantly clear to the audience that no matter how much drama or crazy shit they see, Scoob & The Gang are all best friends who love working together.

Headcannon or drabble….
For if you ever feel like entertaining it.
The WAGS of the Papas scheme every Halloween together to see which of them can get their Papa in the best/most outrageous/most out of character outfit.
Okay so I'm FINALLY back from Amsterdam and can give this the thought it deserves. And so, here's my thoughts on Papa halloween costumes. Some are humiliating, some I think just work for the Papa in question...
Coming to you in head canon format, because I think that works better...
Every year the Ministry holds it's annual Halloween ball. And every year, everyone is expected to dress up. And usually, the Papas and their partners dress in couple's costumes. This year, their partners make it a game - funniest, most apt or most humiliating Papa costume wins.
Primo
In his older age, Primo doesn't mind letting you organise Halloween. It's never a big struggle to get him to wear what you want him to. He knows you'll only win anyway...
So when you came out from the bathroom dressed as Olive Oyl and handed him a sailor's outfit... he sighed, and took it from you without argument.
Complete with can of Spinach for those hidden muscles of his and old tobacco pipe to lodge between his teeth, he made the most adorable Popeye the Sailor Man you'd even seen.
To give him his credit, he even got the laugh down to a 'T'...
"Aaaah-gug-gug-gug-gug-gug..."

Secondo
Every year you would place a bet before Halloween. And most years, you won. Including this year.
And of course, the loser has to wear the costume of choice of the winner.
But when you showed him what he'd be wearing this year, he outright REFUSED.
"Dolcezza, I insist that you stop trying to humiliate me at every turn..."
"You have to. Thems the rules." He was NOT happy.
The colours were offensive, the tan was ludicrous and the wig... He hated it all. But he did it, because dishonouring the bet that the entire ministry knew you had every year was more humiliating than wearing the damn costume.
It's roller Barbie & Ken.
The scowl on his face through the entire Halloween ball... If looks could kill.

Terzo
When you'd told him you were going as a Powerpuff girl, he got over excited.
"You mean to tell me you'll be in a short little dress and pigtails, tesoro?"
What you didn't tell him, was that you'd got him a matching couple's costume. But not one of the girls...
When he walked out of the bathroom, painted red, tiny little pink fluffy skirt and headpiece, lobster claws and latex thigh high boots, you'd collapsed in a heap of laughter.
Of course, you got him to dress up as HIM, your arch nemesis.
"I'll damn you to the deepest depths of hell for this."
But it suited him so well... King of the underworld, flamboyant - pure evil.
And he got so into character...

Copia
When you mention a couple's costume, he's all for it. Anything together is a win in his book.
When trying to think of one, two things about him stood out to you that you could run with.
He often wears a scarf neck tie, and he's a bit of a himbo...
And so, Fred from Scooby Doo has entered the chat. With Daphne right by his side...
Because you cannot tell me Copia isn't basically just a goth Fred
"Amore, please don't make me blonde..." he whines, but the coloured hair spray you'd bought for his growing locks was already taking shape.
He decided he likes you as a redhead. He makes a mental note of you this way.
Turns out, The Ghost Project music really can sound like Scooby Do chase scene music - because it became the backdrop when Swiss, who dressed as a sheet ghost this year, thought it was funny to chase him through the Ministry corridors...

Wondering which Partner won? Well, send me an ask and tell me who YOU think would win this contest...

Headcanons about chrissy and dustin relationship?
Oo. Another excellent prompt! Thanks 'nony.
I've seen some great fics linking these two and think it could be a really cute relationship honestly.
Dustin has a crush on Chrissy at first (who doesn't though, honestly?) so he blushes a lot and gets tongue-tied.
None of the younger kids really hang around with cheerleaders and it takes some time to trust that Chrissy wants to sit with them. Dustin though? Nah. He's 100% on board with Chrissy Cunningham invading their lives and welcomes her with open arms. He even saves her a seat next to him at the lunchtable.
When she asks him about D&D and his character, man, he gets INTO IT. He sits with Chrissy for a full two hours going into detail about different races, classes, lore. He kind of expects her to laugh at him, but Chrissy really loves his enthusiasm. He even offers to help her make her own build (but Eddie's already got this covered).
Chrissy loves the way Eddie protects Dustin, and the way he looks up to Eddie. It makes her fall for Eddie all the more (she also loves the competition between him and Steve - what neither of them know is Chrissy soon becomes Dustin's OG babysitter)
She finds herself keeping an eye out for him at school and when she hears one of the jocks making fun of his D&D book? Well, she stands up for him. She laughs when Dustin flings his arm around her shoulder after and lets them swagger away (Eddie watches and snorts into his shoulder).
(when she finds Dustin upset when one of the bullies tears up his character sheet, she hugs him so hard and tells him he's the best and to never change).
Chrissy gets the cold shoulder from her so-called friends when she starts picking Hellfire more and more and this really gets her down. If Eddie isn't around to cheer her up, then Dustin steps up to the plate and does his best to make her smile and laugh (Chrissy kisses his cheek the first time he does this and Eddie later pulls him into a giant hug).
Chrissy meets Suzie and yeah, she's hella' smart and cool. Chrissy reminds Dustin about buying candy, opening doors, reminding him to get a Valentines Day card. She even tried combing his hair. She tries really hard not to be overbearing but she's a cheerleader for a reason, right?
He sort of reminds her of her own brother - or rather, what her brother could be like if free from her parents influence. Dustin is really playful with her and not afraid of breaking her (like others sometimes do). He treats her like one of the gang.
Dustin picks up on Eddie's feelings pretty quickly and is the one to point out his 'soft eyes' whenever Chrissy is around. He also notices how Chrissy gets all pink and fluttery when Eddie looks her way. He's a Hellcheer #1 fan.
(though it's seriously not fair he never gets to pick the music in Eddie's van but he lets Chrissy pick whatever she wants - Chrissy also gets to ride shotgun)
He notices she doesn't eat much but doesn't really get the why (that's not his place) - but he always offers her his spare snacks and jelly sandwich. Sometimes she accepts and says 'thanks' really quietly. Chrissy starts bringing snacks to Hellfire Club and this is all good in Dustin's book.
He introduces her to Star Wars and she starts calling him 'R2' because yeah, he's the most useful person to have around and (usually) saves the day. Dustin fucking beams when she does this. They start having little inside jokes. He calls her Daphne from Scooby Doo - but only jokingly - he knows she's no damsel anymore.
During the battle with Vecna? He watches Chrissy's back although he pretends not to. She's comforted by him at her side and they are a good team. He knows how important Chrissy is to Eddie (and to him) and doesn't want her to get hurt.

Scooby-Doo! Legend of the Phantosaur
forcefully review as watched by Deluge
spoilers, obviously, but then again, I’m the one watching it for the first time.
I've been told this is the origin of Ultra Instinct Shaggy
It feels weird not to have the normal Scooby Doo intro theme, with this one having a Beatles pop rock like song.
Scooby and Shaggy really do get the short end of the stick a lot of the time.
I think this one is the first one on this list with Matthew Lillard that I've watched. and then the next being Lillard's first time as Shaggy.
Is coffee even good for dogs?
Shakey Joe is like high on coffee back there
Scooby channeling his inner Tassie Devil
THESES GUYS ARE STILL IN HIGH SCHOOL? OR AT LEAST COLLEGE?
The US Bureau of Supernatural Forces definitely exists purely for the gang to fuck with.
I was wondering why the GPS sounded familiar, It's John DiMaggio. though I'll be honest, I thought it sounded like Danny DeVito
God that barbeque looks sooooooo nice
I forget you guys call scones "biscuits"
Damn, they're giving Velma a love interest. I mean, they did with Mystery Inc with both Shaggy and HotDogWater. but still
They just happen to find a bone by being DOG
Winsor is like, almost identical wtf
The Phantosaur is here!
The action of this is definitely a lot more dramatic than all the others.
Yeah fuck up the Europeans!
The Psychedelia of this movie has much evident. I guess that's why the intro was so Beatles like.
I guess this movie really is early in their career, if Daphne's Tsundere about Fred.
Some wild theories by Daphne, but I'd expect nothing less.
ULTRA
INSTINCT
SHAAAAAAAAAGYYYYYYYYYYY!
Hahahaha. Dude punched himself to avoid Shaggy
Hmmmm Thaumtrope Mining Co really introducing the sus ones.
Daphne really knowing Fred won't be satisfied without a net catching someone.
Damn that's a really good RP idea. Daphne wearing fishnets to catch their significant other.
Velma in her own world but still being the brains for Daphne's Brawn. Pretty sure she's brawn, doesn't she have like martial arts training or something?
Daphne has motorbike experience, good to know
Scooby... please...
They really said that.
メニュー
Okay, Winsor, that's a little rude
Even thinking of the word bad breaks him out.
Biker gang actually being helpful with the gang.
There's two Phantosaurs.
Meddling kids ✅
Hmmm... Yeah it usually would take longer, and there's a whole half hour longer.
Oooh, Another mystery!
That thing didn't even bake, how did that decoy end up solid?
HOLY FUCK IS THE TOWN ON FIRE?
THE REAL PHANTOSAUR!
But probably using a souped up version of the Hypnomachine thing
YEAH BIKERS!
Oh my, it's the paleontologists
The paint stripper thing doesn't make sense, how the fuck does it get directed through the mouth?
Ahh, so it was a whole plot to get people out. just its for a keepsake giant dino and not the silver mine
Oh, they planted the paint strippers everywhere.
DAPHNE....
Superhuman strength to break off quartz. unless the strength of quartz is pretty bad.
Awfully long belt between three dudes. and probably the belts off of the professor.
Damn, Fred do be the heart of the team at this moment.
And there goes the whole town.
Or looks like just the main road.
Velma really asking him out after he leaves.
Probably shouldn't have all of them in the room
Wait so the meme of all of them dressed up as shaggy is from this movie?
Memes aside. Fun, exciting, really interesting mystery.
10/10

Found Episode 12 Thoughts
I think yesterday's episode was the first time in a while that I was actually fully engaged in the missing person's plot. And that's mainly because it didn't feel so formulaic and the stakes ACTUALLY felt high. I looked to see who the writer was, and it was Sonay Hoffman. Whoever she is, she did a phenomenal job.
Further thoughts below the cut:
Asking Dhan to do her dirty work was the MOST I've ever disliked Gabi since this season started.
I was glad that someone FINALLY called Gabi out and told her that she can't just expect people to throw themselves down on the sword for her whenever she wants. I'm happy that she apologized to Dhan for asking him to fix HER mistake. But I hate that she was so flippant about his disappointment, initially. And I mentioned this on Twitter a few weeks back, I think. She knows that Dhan has PTSD that he's working through. She knows that he's trying to get better. And she treated him like a guard dog to sic on Sir because she didn't want to take the initiative and do what she said she would. I would almost say it's OOC but it really isn't, considering she's shown signs of thinking Dhan is her guard dog in the past. He's loyal, but he's not a pushover. And I liked that. The way he was mean mugging and side eyeing her for the entire episode took me out.
I'm kind of happy that they confirmed that Dhan DID know that Gabi had Sir (at some point), but didn't know that she STILL had him. And was keeping him as like...a pet. And so his reaction was 100% warranted. I also would've been like GIRL WHAT THE FUCK? I THOUGHT YOU KILLED HIM! Which is kind of funny because it confirms that he does think captivity is worse than death, which Gabi doesn't seem to agree with.
I felt so bad for Zeke when he tried to leave the house to find Gabi and couldn't. But I also felt sadder because he was killing it throughout this ENTIRE episode. From minute one he was on top of things and knocking it out of the park. The only part that confused me was that he called Gabi knowing that she was at a party to tell her about this truck, when it would've been easier to just text the information to her. That felt contrived. I could see if he texted her a bunch FIRST, and if she didn't respond, he decided to call her instead.
I felt more about the death in this episode than I did about the death in the other episode, mainly because we were given a chance to give a shit about this character's welfare before we learned they were gone. We've yet to have a case where we're searching for someone and they turn up dead. Especially in a method that's so violent. This kind of leads me to believe that this show has the ability to go darker. It just needs to polish its language a bit and stop letting all of the culprits admit everything like Scooby-Doo villains. Once we get there, we'll be alright.

MUN INTRO: hi folks! happy soft opening, jia (s/h, 21+) here. i'll be writing for daeun, and if she reminds you of d*phne from scooby doo... yeah. ims/discord available for plotting- please ask! ♡
MUSE INTRO: baek daeun, 22, also @danidanidaeuni on the interwebs. making a living out of yapping about gruesome murders (read: disappointing her parents). back in town for her mom's birthday dinner... or so she claims, with a camera and idea for a shiny new series in hand.
when did your muse first arrive in yuseong bay?
got here literally a couple days ago!!! is staying at her parents', but dear god is she regretting it. is already looking at alternative accommodation. has been doing her best to work off the jetlag, but its really mostly been andante for coffee and back to her place to sleep/work.
what does an average day look like for your muse?
wake up somewhere between 9-10, get caffeine in her. hunt down her latest victim for an interview, or whoever was unlucky enough to be scammed into bringing her around. with luck, she gets some footage. sometimes she's got an episode to record, so the yuseongers are rid of her for a couple hours. stay up til she falls asleep on her laptop. what a life, baby!
where can your muse usually be found?
andante, nursing a drink and going cross-eyed staring at her screen. her blue light glasses make her look like a dweeb, and yes, you can laugh. she has no qualms about asking to share a table <3 / lemon martes, wandering around like a lost ghost. she just likes looking at the displays, ok? / staring dubiously @ pierrot's clown mascot, the lighthouse, antique shop, the old mines, and hovering around the mouth of the woods. its like shes trying to stare them down.... see if something goes bump
how does your muse feel about hanhwa resort?
i don't think she even knows about the resort.. jk! its hard to miss a gigantic building smack dab where she used to go crabbing. there's probably a sense of nostalgia for what things used to be, but she understands that capitalism is a necessary and unstoppable evil. if her parents nag her about marriage one more time, she's booking a room there.
is there an aspiration for your muse to stay in or leave yuseong bay?
the expectation's always been that she'll leave--- while she doesn't have a return ticket booked, she's based in the us, and once she's got enough footage, she's gonezo.
extra, extra!
list your muse’s three favorite songs.
sza's saturn (yes, she's always the problem in every relationship) niki's split (asian diaspora reppppp) the japanese house's sunshine baby not a big fan of hearing men talk
describe your muse’s wardrobe.
she likes looking good, and her personal style leans more feminine. doesn't shy away from bright colours, but likes neutrals because she thinks she's taken more seriously like that </3 for brands, she's partial to hermes, chanel (tho she thinks they're losing their touch a little...) and miu miu!
what is a color, word, and emoji that you feel describes your muse?
purple, why?, 🧋
three strong likes and dislikes for your muse.
likes: windy weather, fruit (thinks korea is insane... wtf do u mean grapes are $10), reading comments dislikes: being rushed, not being organised, a meeting that could've been an email slash call that could've been a text
three positive and negative traits for your muse.
+ compassionate, sincere, enthusiastic - oblivious, naive, condescending
three talents and shortcomings for your muse.
has the ability to make you feel like you're the only two people in the room; a wonderful conversationalist, she's always focused on your conversation. good with names AND faces. you're the center of her universe! insane interpersonal intelligence. / no qualms dropping her (parents) money on things. need a loan? sure! some say its buying affection, but hey, she'd do anything for a friend :) / extremely open-minded. realises when she makes a mistake, and is quick to apologise and do her best to learn from it. someone who can put her pride down easily! condescends unintentionally, even though she has nothing but the best of intentions. it’s just what being so out-of-touch with the working class folk does to you, unfortunately. / she eats. so. goddamn. slowly. like its actually terrible. she takes an hour to finish one sandwich, because she chews so carefully, and then wants to say something but refuses to talk because her mouth is full. your muse is offered a meal in exchange for an interview? expect to spend at least 2h, MINIMUM with her. in that vein, also no respect for others' time / you've probably caught on by now, but she is always her first thought. she'll take her own sweet time doing things, and hates being put on others' timeline. everything is framed through her experience, which is an extremely privileged one.
what is a book/tv series/movie/video game character that you feel your character relates to? (you can include who you would say they’re alike, and who they would say they’re alike.)
she was heavily inspired by daphne blake from scooby doo, and even her name's a homage to that! daeun would like how she stays true to herself (and has great style!) while still kicking ass! she thinks daphne was ahead of her time, retaining her femininity while still pulling her weight and being useful to the scoobies in her own way.
a relevant goal or arc for your character to overcome.
accept she'll probably never make her parents proud, fully accept and move on from that. also pay her own bills, damn. something something true independence....
anyway. pls like to plot and i'll slide into ims :^)

What do you think will happen in this next chapter?
hmm, in terms of things that i think will happen, the only theory/expectation i have for the next chapter is that we'll switch to nene, teru, aoi, and akane, who will probably enter the red house in some sort of scooby doo mystery gang fashion lol. and imagine they'll probably get split up? also in scooby doo fashion haha, probably into pairs at first and then maybe getting further split up until all of them are alone, at which point I expect some of them to come across kou and mitsuba, and others of them to come across one or both of the yugis. I don’t really know which combinations of characters to expect though!! they’d all be exciting!!
i would honestly like if they took some time to explore the red house before finding kou, mitsuba, or the yugis though! we didn't see any of the wish granting powers of the red house last chapter, so those powers might not be in place in this timeline, but it seems unlikely? as wish granting is such a fundamental function (approach? method?) of the red house. so i'd be really interested to see that come up again!!
from here i only really have things i think would be interesting rather than actual theories for the chapter:
i would love to see other characters' desires called out by the red house. if wish granting (and more specifically, sensing people’s wishes) is still a function of the red house, i think it would make sense to see aoi and akane paired off together, since this timeline's aoi seems to be used to repressed desires, on both her end and akane's.
and speaking of repressed desires!! i want to see into teru's brain!!! what does he want? does he have things he wants for himself? how much can a person deny themselves their own desires before those desires don’t have a hold on them anymore, or cease to exist entirely?
i would also love to see teru interacting with mitsuba again because i feel like them meeting is a really significant thing that happned but we haven't seen any big consequences of them meeting yet? would LOVE to see teru's reaction to learning how important mitsuba is to kou. does he know? how much does he even know about mitsuba?? I feel like if teru knew the extent of how important mitsuba, a supernatural, is to kou he’d have a lot of feelings/opinions/etc? teru please go into the red house so i can see inside your brain thank u <3
i also think that if our current mystery gang pairs up and splits off it would be really interesting to see nene and teru paired up! all the character combinations would be really interesting, but I don’t think we’ve really seen nene and teru together too much? and it's always interesting to see characters in new combinations!!
I also would love if this team up happened because teru and nene's relationship to one another has been on my mind ever since 117. specifically these moments:

they're small moments, but they feel distinctly different from how teru has treated nene previously. i think teru, up to this point, has treated nene as very naive, and with the niceties you would show a kid. he's also very aware of her admiration of him, and often plays into it. he doesn't tend to include her in plans, like in the red house/far shore bound arc. they haven't had a bad relationship, but it has certainly been one of knowledgable, skilled upperclassman and an underclassman who admires him.
but in 117, teru looks like he's really considering what nene has said, both with his expression and the thoughtfulness of his response. of course, teru is still lecturing and exasperated with both nene and akane in 117, but he doesn't seem to be trying to go behind nene's back or dismiss her. honestly, him being so openly exasperated in front of her is also a sign to me that he's moving away from just giving her a smile to appease her and moving on; it feels like he's starting to be a little more open with her?
or maybe what i'm trying to get at is, he's kind of starting to treat her the way he treats akane! not exactly the same of course, but there are more similarities there now, I think. teru lectures and toys with akane, but that doesn't mean he doesn't trust and respect him. one of my favorite parts of 117 was seeing teru roast nene so blatantly to her face lol. he obviously has his thoughts about her relationship with hanako, but he's being so open with her about it now! even if he's giving her shit, it somehow feels more friendly than when he was feeding into her crush on him. maybe he’s just truly met his wit’s end lmao but in any case i feel like he could be starting to see nene as someone to work with rather than someone to work around.
this feels very significant since this arc started on a note about how much nene has grown and all the work she's done!

i think teru—who has largely been a Smart and Responsible older character compared to nene’s idealistic, sometimes naive optimism—trusting nene and treating her as a friend and partner in a team up would be a really sweet and interesting way to emphasize the theme of her character growth that the start of this arc explores!
but, of course, I never really know what’s going to come haha, at least it’s hard to predict chapter by chapter! but these are some themes and relationships I would love to see explored!! and there are always so many things I never see coming, so I’m really excited to see what this next chapter brings 👀
#thank you for the ask!!#tbhk spoilers#every time i go back and find ss im like damn i gotta do a whole reread soon lol#so much to notice!!

look i really don't want to be a killjoy, I don't want to be the "boomer" who over-criticizes movies because they don't get anything and refuse to have fun... Like, I really want to enjoy this and join in on the fun but I can't lie, I was so so so disappointed with the FNAF movie. I wasn't expecting anything good because i'm used to video game movie adaptations being terrible. And yet, I was still let down. It was worse than what I even imagined. And I see everyone going crazy over the movie and saying it was so good and legendary and all and I'm just... what? Did we see the same movie? Am I insane? Am I missing something? Did I reach that annoying "adult" stage of life where everything seems dull?
I don't want to sound like an annoying movie elitist youtuber that sound like they think they have it all figured out and know better than everyone (u know the kind i'm talking about). I generally don't know jackshit about movies, so please take everything I say with a grain of salt. My opinion doesn't hold much value. I'm honestly just trying to make sense of what I saw with this long ass post lol. SPOILERS AHEAD, just in case it wasn't obvious. I'll try to be as fair and precise as possible in what I liked and disliked.
Here's what I liked: the animatronics design was awesome, they really looked like the ones in the first game. The whole pizzeria too. That was cool. The actors were great. I think they did the best with what they had. I don't have anything bad to say regarding the acting. Gods, seeing Matthew Lilliard with white hair made me feel old (he was like my first celebrity crush when i was a 5 year old child, in the scooby doo live action). And seeing Josh Hutcherson playing what I thought to be a dad but turns out to just be a big brother ALSO made me feel old (aren't we just used to him always being someone's son in all his dang movies???). Also seeing MatPat was cool. I also like how they explored the whole theme of "you don't need to be rich to be a good parent/guardian or to make your child happy" as we saw with Abby and Mike vs the aunt, and I also like how abby being more introverted and into drawing wasn't seen as a necessarily bad thing. I liked those themes.
Here's what I disliked: Okay first. That whole backstory with Mike and his little brother, the "dream theory" thing. Very cool, a very nice concept to explore in a movie. HOWEVER, what the heck was this doing in a fnaf movie? Like, was it just me? idk i just think it was way too much of a side-plot... I know it was related because it's implied then confirmed that Afton took the little brother. But like... I don't know. It just seemed so freaking random and out of place? Like what are the chances are that this is the guy who took your little brother and that you end up working for him? It's just not the vibe at all I was expecting for a game about being a security guard in a haunted pizzeria? I thought we were going to see and feel the atmosphere that the first game gives, like being stuck in that tiny little room, realizing slowly there's something wrong with the animatronics, the panic as you watch the camera footage, the survival instinct kicking in as you try to rationalize it... Instead, Mike just slept through all of it to "solve" a completely different side-plot. (again, yes I know it's not really a side-plot since it was directly related in a way, but it really did feel like such a random, far away thing) And then the "ghosts" of the children appearing in the dream as if it's like something they do all the time... Idk man. This whole thing just felt so weird and out of place.
2nd thing I disliked: Abby being involved. I love her character, don't get me wrong, she was adorable, i love her to death. But her role in the story felt so... plot-convenient? Like oh the new security guard just happens to have a little sister the same age as the children who went missing and can see ghosts and likes to draw and one day she sleeps in there bc the babysitter is unreachable.
Speaking of the babysitter... That whole thing where they pair up with the evil aunt to sabotage Mike's career... Again, this just felt so... random? I don't know what other words to use. It just felt like it came out of nowhere.
Another thing I disliked. How quickly Mike just. Accepted that there were animatronics moving on their own because they're haunted with the ghosts of murdered children. And how he just casually builds a fort with them and Abby and Vanessa. Like... bro??? What are you doing? Aren't you worried? Aren't you scared? Confused? Listen I know the animatronics are supposed to be like goofy and all since, at the core, they're literally just children. But like... Idk this is just... not the vibe at all I was expecting? It completely took me out, honestly, like it just broke the immersion for me. I mean, come on. I don't care how psychic you are, how open-minded you are, if you see huge-ass animatronics moving on their own, you will be terrified.
Other thing I disliked: Vanessa as a character in general. Nothing against the actress (It's Beck!!!!!). Just... why the fuck did she even show up there in the first place other than for snooping around? She had honestly no actual cop business there. And why did she spend so much time there, on her actual job hours? makes absolutely 0 sense to me. This seemed to be only fan service (in reference to vanessa/vanny). I honestly genuinely do not have valid reasons for this one other than I just really didn't like her character in general.
Also... Why is no one mentionning the smell of the animatronics? Or how they would probably have attracted maggots and dangerous parasites? There are decades old bodies decaying inside them ffs... I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure you'd notice something is off about the smell pretty quickly. Even when the people went in to trash the place, their bodies stayed in the pizzeria for a whole 2-3 days after that while Mike and Abby were there. It's enough time for the smell to start hitting. Yet no one noticed...
Speaking of the bodies. It was a PG 13 movie. why? 8+ at most would've sufficed. Also... was it a horror movie, a comedy, a drama, a thriller? All of these? Because it felt like none of these. Like, it felt like it was trying to be a horror or a comedy, but just didn't commit fully. Idk how to explain it properly, it felt like it was holding back, in a sense.
Also when they electrified the animatronics, ngl, it felt like I was watching a bugs bunny cartoon.
I feel like there was sooooo much of the lore being dropped in the film, but in very awkward ways? Like it was trying so hard to appeal to the fans with all the little details of lore but it GIRL the fnaf lore is crazy heavy and complicated there was just no way you could plug it all in just one film... and yeah, that really kinda broke the pace of the movie, in my opinion. It was all revealed all at once, so bluntly? People keep saying "if you like the games and the lore you will love this movie" and for me it's like... no?? Quite the opposite? The lore feels all crammed in there with no real purpose... it felt so weird.
Alright I'll stop here. I know movie adaptations can't always be truthful to the games, realistically speaking since it's not the same kind of media. I know that. Sometimes major changes are a good thing. Sometimes going a bit off the plot can be beneficial. It's just that, in this specific movie adaptation, it felt so... out of place? I really disliked the changes. Don't understand them. The entire thing feels so far away from the source material in a way where I just honestly cannot enjoy it.
But everyone seems to have loved the movie so clearly there's something i'm missing, and I am honestly genuinely very open to discuss it, if you liked the movie please tell me why and how. Because for now I am just flabbergasted at how much I just don't fucking get it...
