Spoiled Sushi
For a while, a certain article has been vexing me. One that seems to have a great misunderstanding of the series it was writing about, missing obvious points and core parts of the worldbuilding. No, it wasn’t by CBR, nor was it by Screenrant. But it was by Cruchyroll of all places. They decided to make an article about the Top 5 Misused Quirks in My Hero Academia. It was not good and has been bugging me. So I decided to give them a taste of their own medicine. I mean they try to shut down whoever even attempts to do what they do, so why not make fun of them for trying to do what I do? Plus you guys seem to like it when I’m snarky, so this could be fun for everyone.
For clarity’s sake, this was written at the beginning of 2019, when the most recent chapter was Chapter 214 and the the anime had only reached Season 3. I’m keeping that in mind as I write. I will also be skipping around some of the parts of the article as I am talking about it. If its not worth mentioning, I won’t bring it up, simple as that. For instance, I’m skipping the intro because it is completely superfluous and would only serve to make a completely different fanbase mad. Might as well, most of what I am passing up are just dumb jokes. But if you are curious... don’t waste your time reading this. Your time is valuable and you have better things to do then read this article.
5. Kurogiri Can Create Free, Renewable Energy
“In all seriousness, though, Kurogiri is probably one of the most powerful characters in the anime, with their being virtually no limit to how far he can extend his Warp Gate portals.”
I mean there are certainly limits for his Quirk. Besides the need to know the coordinates or see where he is moving, there’s obviously a limit to how much he can spread out his body.
“Why then doesn’t he use them to create near-infinite energy? Open two portals one above another, throw in a heavy object inside and watch it fall endlessly. Devise a way to hook a dynamo or something to it and, bam, you have free power that would make Kurogiri a billionaire overnight and a hero to the entire planet.”
This idea has so many problems that I don’t even know where to begin.
One, if this could work, it likely wouldn’t make a lot of energy. Besides the various physics problems involved in this, Kurogiri would just be one guy doing this, meaning that it’s unlikely he’d be able to make enough power to matter.
Two, Kurogiri would still need rest as he is a living being, meaning he wouldn’t to keep up this theoretical contraption forever and you’d get even less energy relying on him. At most, it would work best in a small bunker as a last resort.
Three, that sounds like it would be a lot more dangerous then it would be worth for the energy made. If Kurogiri would to lose focus for a moment, the portals fall apart and there would just be a lot of damage from this heavy object moving at high speeds.
“Even if Kurogiri only cares about taking down All Might, it would still be much easier to do if he had a literal mountain of money/public goodwill at his side.”
What kind of bizzaro universe are you living in where the guy who makes energy could possibly turn public option about the very well liked Number 1 Hero that saves lives every day? That’s literally what Lex Luthor does and people hate him for it.
4. Koji Koda Could Help Feed Billions Of People
“Koji is the resident Class 1-A stoner (get it? he's made of rock? come on) with the power to control ANY creature in the animal kingdom. This would logically also include spiders, meaning that Koji could literally end all street crime in, like, 5 minutes tops by swallowing all the criminals up in a giant arachno-tsunami.”
While this article is infuriating in many ways, it did give us the mental image of an “arachno-tsunami”. Which is totally worth sitting through this jumbled mess of words and ignorance.
“But, you see, Koji is just too shy and nice to be an effective hero. He wants to do good but he just doesn’t have that fighter instinct in him. Which is why he should instead use his Anivoice Quirk to revolutionize agriculture all around the world.”
You can be an effective hero and not beat people up. Sure, it certainly can come up in the job description, but that isn’t all of what a hero is meant to do. Koda’s Quirk makes him great at information gathering and rescue work, two very important aspects of hero work that suit his personality perfectly.
“Give him a megaphone and fly him over American fields, telling feral pigs to stop causing $1.5 billion worth of damage a year in destroyed crops. Fly him to Australia to tell the invasive cane toads and rabbits to kindly lemming themselves off a cliff. Have him tell the aggressive lionfish the get the hell out of the Atlantic. FORCE HIM TO GET OVER HIS FEAR OF BUGS AND MAKE AGRICULTURAL PESTS A THING OF THE PAST. “
There is no possible way Koda could be everywhere at once to pull that off. And considering that the average human voice can only carry for about a mile, IE, about the average size of a single farm. You know, because animals need to hear his voice in order to receive his commands. So even if it was limited to a single farm, its unlikely to do much to help. But by far the biggest issue with this entire plan is that what Koda does to an animal is not permanent. The second his control is interrupted, the animals return to normal, bound to just go back to whatever they were doing before.
So if Koda tries to change anything, its just going to end up undone by the time he leaves, just delaying the inevitable problem that comes from these animals. So even if Koda told the pigs to go away, they’d likely be back by the next day, destroying farmland like nothing happened. Even then, because of the previous limitations, he’d still have to go farm by farm to pull it off. That’s not even mentioning all of the other suggestions. Honestly, if you wanted to do something with Quirk, you should just convince all the animals to line up during hunting season. Dark, yes, but it least it would offer a more permanent solution then what the writer is suggesting.
“If Koji was utilized properly, he could travel the world undoing mankind’s mistakes and creating organic, pesticide-free crops instead of doing what he does now, which is largely sitting around on his ass roleplaying Snow White.”
Which, in spite of many fans joking about his Quirk, has shown to be very helpful quite a few times.
3. Inko Midoriya Would Have Made A Great Nurse
“Izuku’s mother in My Hero Academia has mainly done two things so far: jack and squat.”
I mean she did design Izuku’s costume, even if it got replaced, its is still a corner stone of his design, and she offered a good amount of drama after the fight with All Might and All For One.
“She did try to be a good mother but kind of failed at that when she tearfully apologized to her son because he was born without a Quirk, essentially telling him: “I’m so sorry I gave birth to such a loser.””
Would you believe that this one line was what really prompted me to talk about this? Because that is probably one of the worst takes I have ever in relation to this series. If you honestly believed that is what Inko was doing, the woman who practically raised her child by herself and constantly talks about much she cares for him, you must be watching the wrong series. That’s the only way I could explain why that is.
“So, she doesn’t really have much going on in her life. That’s why she should try nursing instead. I realize that becoming a nurse takes a lot of hard work and dedication, but Inko would be a natural fit for it. Despite her initial shortcomings, she is a very caring person with loads of empathy.”
Inko’s empathic? Could have fooled me. I mean she did feel the need to apologize to her son for giving birth to a loser. No, I am not over that, how could you have possibly gotten that from the scene?!
“She also has the power of limited telekinesis. Inko can move small objects over short distances, and while that would not be helpful for stopping crime, it would be great for, say, removing kidney stones. Or things stuck in people’s throats. Or coins from children’s stomachs.”
Trying to use a Quirk like this in any kind of medical procedure is laughable at best and dangerous at worst. Imagine if Inko had to remove a bullet from someone. From what we see, the process of her moving objects is slow and need several pulls from her to attract the object to her. So if she’s going to try to pull it out and its going to get caught on something, causing more damage to the person she is trying to save. She’s basically going to be keying the insides of whoever she is trying to operate on.
The entire reasons doctors, especially surgeons, train for so long is because the human body can be extremely delicate. It needs a lot of care and time so the doctors don’t make things worse for the patients. It’s why surgeons need to have such steady hands and a lot of time even to due minor procedures. But trying to do that with a Quirk is just going to cause more problems then it can solve. Doing that with a Quirk like Inko’s just lacks a lot of the precision and dexterity necessary to pull this off.
2. Uraraka Should Go Work For A Shipping Company
“Ochaco Uraraka has one of the most well-rounded Quirks out of all the main characters: Zero Gravity. With it, she can make objects and people float, which is great for offense, defense, and rescue operations. As a superheroine, she is doing everything right with her Quirk.”
I mean “Zero Gravity” can kind of be used offensively, but not effectively as other Quirks. Its why she did all of that training with Gun Head to make up for her lack of an offensive presence. Eh, two of three ain’t bad. I’ll take what I can get.
“I just think Uraraka should never have become a superheroine in the first place. Uraraka has actually always been honest about her motivation: she wants dem YEN YEN BILLS YO (for her struggling family.)”
That’s because hero work is an extremely frugal business even super minor heroes can still seem to make a decent living out of it.
“But regular jobs also exist in that world, and that must include shipping companies that would instantly hire Uraraka to Zero-G their freighters, trucks, and planes. Even if she cannot make them float, she can still remove enough gravity from them to save the company tons of fuel. Company profit margins are razor thin.”
First off, its mentioned several times that if you want to use a Quirk for a job, you need to have a hero license. Its to make sure you know how to use your Quirk properly so you don’t end up hurting someone with your powers. So for her to even try this, she needs to go through hero school anyway. Might as well get the most out of it. Second, Uraraka cannot lower the gravity of her target. Either the object is floating or it isn’t floating. There is no in between for Uraraka.
Third, given what we’ve seen from Uraraka, there is no possible way that she could ever lift that much. She’s barely able to lift three lower numbered robots and that was only for a few seconds. So, at the most, she can lift a few tons. How exactly do you expect her to work with something like a cargo plane, which, on its own, can weight over forty five tons, not including fuel or any extra cargo?
Which is another thing I noticed throughout the article: the writer seems to severely overestimate how effective Quirks actually are. The range and scope of Quirks is much smaller then other power systems, even when compared to similar “low level” series like HunterxHunter. Like every kind of application listed goes far beyond what most Quirks are capable of, such as forgetting certain drawbacks. And that is most notable with the last suggestion.
1. Momo Could Solve Literally All The World’s Problems
I bet Kohei Horikoshi was really proud of himself when he came up with Momo Yaoyorozu’s design: No, see, she HAS to dress scantily because her Quirk is Creation, i.e. the ability to create any object she wants through her skin, which must be constantly exposed. Peachy.”
Oh boy, it wouldn’t be any sort of discussion about Momo without beating that long dead horse. What’s next? Bakugou angry? Izuku cry?
“Momo can apparently create anything as long as she understands its composition, and seeing as she’s made an ethanol spray can, infrared goggles, a lighter, and a tracker, it seems like there’s nothing she cannot make.”
Oh boy, it wouldn’t be any sort of discussion about Momo without a grievous misunderstanding of how her Quirk works either. Maybe they are in the fandom. As I have mentioned in my Momo Misconceptions post, Momo needs fat to make what she does. She’s not an alchemist where she can just clap her hands and make whatever she wants. If she doesn’t have enough fat, she cannot make items. By those very rules, some things are just out of her reach because it would just take too much fat. It’s why she limits herself to simpler items.
“Cool. MAKE US SOME HELIUM THEN. The world is running out of the gas and we need it for MRI scanners and the like. Momo could make more of it.”
Actually, we don’t even know for sure if Momo is capable of making gases. All we have seen her make is solids and a few liquids. There is the lighter she made, but that could easily run on lighter fluid.
“Or thorium. She could make thorium that we could use to make thorium-based reactors that are apparently way safer than uranium ones.”
Thorium isn’t even that rare, just as about as common as lead and three times as common as uranium. Even if it was a problem, it would likely kill her, either from burning through all of her fat or from the exposure to radiation.
“Medicine, fresh water, cheap electronics that we could send to developing countries: Momo could crank all of those out in an afternoon.“
Yes, in theory, Momo could do that, but not the extent that she would make a major difference in the world like they are suggesting. There are just more practical and better long term solutions then trying to force a single person to do all of that. It’s almost as if Momo is a regular human being who has limitations you need to keep in mind when making these ill informed suggestions.
“And while spending your life as a walking Everything Faucet might not seem that glamorous, it actually has the potential to change the entire planet for the better.”
Given the kind of set up and effort that would be required to even attempt that, I think “horrific” would be a more appropriate descriptor since it would be done to a living, thinking person.
Honestly, I think that most of these people are doing more with their Quirks now then with any of these suggestions. At least, when you actually think about the rules and limits of the characters. Sure, Inko isn’t doing much, but she is a civilian with a fairly weak Quirk. Kurogiri acts as a major player within the League, getting them around quickly and evading capture. I mean he is using his power to help out a bunch of villains, but my point still stands that he is not “misusing” his Quirk.
In fact, a majority of the people on this list are doing more to help people and save lives by being heroes. Given the limitations of their abilities, using them to stop superpowered criminals who risking damaging the people around and helping victims of these crimes is doing then any of those roles in spite of the fact that the article tries its best to downplay that these people are already saving lives. So, in reality, they are doing far more to help people then doing any of these ideas, you damp sock of a writer.

Awkward Confrontations | Bakugou Katsuki soulmate au
Warnings: Maybe a few swear words? Otherwise nothing!
Word Count: 1,751
A/N: This is my first fanfic! So feel free to leave anything constructive either in my ask box or even replies! Thank you so much for reading, I really appreciate it. Also, sorry if Bakugou is a little ooc, I tried my best. Oh, and I wasn’t sure how to end this, I hope it doesn’t feel too rushed. Anyways, enjoy reading!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You were five years old when it appeared. It was a Wednesday afternoon and you were playing in the backyard when you got a sharp pain on your right wrist. Crying, you run to your mom and ask her what’s happening. Your mom looks up from what she was doing on the porch immediately comforting you with a hug.
“M-mommy why does my arm hurt,” you say through tears.
Your mom thinks for a minute, trying to figure out how to explain a soulmate easily enough for a five-year-old to understand.
“Well baby, the world made somebody very special to you,” she picked you up and put you in her lap, “And one day you will find them when they say the very special words on your wrist.”
Looking at your wrist, you notice the new words on there. The pain had gone away and you were finally able to calm down. Not being able to read very well, you ask your mom.
“Mommy, what does it say?” you ask, looking up to your mom.
Your mom looked down at your wrist. She read aloud,
“Who do you think you’re talking to, extra.” Your mom held back a giggle.
“Mommy, why is my soulmate so mean!” you whine still looking at her.
Your mom laughs a little. “I’m not sure baby, why don’t you ask them when you meet them.” You were satisfied with your answer and got off your mom’s lap to go play.
Walking through the gates of U.A high school was refreshing and overwhelming at the same time. Refreshing because you had worked so hard to get here, overwhelming because you knew you were gonna meet so many great upcoming heroes, and you were a new student halfway through the semester. Walking into class 1-A, you seat yourself in the far back next to a boy with green hair. A girl with short brown hair makes her way over to you.
“Hello! My name is Uraraka Ochako! What’s your name?” you look at her with a little shock before you answer. “My name is (y/l/n) (y/n)! It’s nice to meet you! What is your quirk?” you ask, genuinely curious. She tells you her quirk is zero gravity and that she can make things float. She asks you the same question. You tell her what your quirk is and the green-haired boy next to you looks at you with interest and starts asking you a lot of questions.
“Wow, your quirk is so cool! How does it work? What are it's setbacks? Does it have setbacks?” he fires at you. Ochako turns to him, “Deku, don’t ask her so many questions at once.” With a blush on his face, he introduces himself.
“H-hi, sorry! My name is Midoriya Izuku, but you can call me Deku!”
“It’s nice to meet you Deku!” you respond with just as much enthusiasm as you did Ochako.
As you three talk, eventually more people start to join in. Happy with being accepted so fast, you think about how great of friends you all are gonna be. However, you noticed one person not interacting with the lot of you. But before you can ask, your homeroom teacher walks in. He introduces himself as Eraserhead, but to call him Mr.Aizawa. As he calls roll, you learn the anti-social boy’s name is Bakugo Katsuki.
The school day goes by fast, and before you even know it you’re on your way to your dorm. The school required that students live on campus, and you moved your stuff in a few days before. Weird enough you didn’t run into any of your classmates in that time, but you didn’t care that much. Your mind was focused on the explosive boy in your class, Bakugou. His quirk was proven to be very strong during class today. He also had an even stronger temper. He seemed to explode on poor Midoriya all of the time.
You didn’t know why a boy so mean wouldn’t leave your mind. He was captivating to you and you weren’t sure why. You were laying on your bed lost in thought when you heard a knock on your door. You get up to answer the door. It was Momo.
“Hey, (y/l/n) dinner is ready! Thought I would come to tell you!”
She’s so sweet you thought as you responded.
“Okay! Thank you for telling me, Yaomomo!” You smile at her as she leaves. With that, you put your slippers on and head to the dining room. You get down there and are greeted by your friends. Before you get some food, you head to the bathroom to wash up. You’re in a daze, thinking of Bakugou of course, when you run into somebody. Looking up, you notice it's Bakugou, but he just keeps walking with a tch leaving his mouth.
“Dude! You could’ve said sorry!” He stops walking and turns to you. With a pronounced look of anger on your face, you are ready to take any mean thing he says to you.
“Who do you think you’re talking to, extra!” He all but shouts at you. Before you are able to even respond, his words register to you.
No way he is not my soulmate, you thought as you stared. That would explain the reason I couldn’t get him out of my head, you rationalize before you hear a “tch”.
“Are you gonna answer, dumbass, or can you not speak?” He has his eyebrows scrunched and you could easily tell he was annoyed. You were confused, why didn’t he seem excited or even freaked out. Was he not your soulmate?
Lost in thought, you didn’t respond. Bakugou, deciding he was too tired to deal with you, walked away to eat. Truth is, you had impressed him during class earlier. He recognized how strong your quirk was. He knew the words you spoke were on his wrist. He didn’t care about all that soulmate shit, so why was his heart racing. At least she wasn’t a weakling, he thought. A part of him, a very small part, felt bad just leaving you standing there. But he was tired and you weren’t responding so what was the point.
Later that night, you were having trouble falling asleep. Why didn’t he say anything? Was there something wrong with you? Maybe he really isn’t my soulmate, you thought sadly. Deciding all this thinking was making you thirsty, you head down to the kitchen for a drink.
Katsuki never had trouble with overthinking. He knew he was strong and he knew he was capable. He was focused on becoming the Number One Hero, he didn’t wanna think about soulmates, he didn’t care! So why couldn’t he get you out of his mind? Deciding he wasn’t gonna be going to sleep right now, he goes to the kitchen for water.
You’re looking through the fridge for a water bottle. It seems like there was only one left. You take it out of the fridge. As you turn to walk back to your room, you run into a squishy wall. Opening your eyes, you realize it was a person. And just your luck, it was the person you couldn’t get out of your head.
Bakugou silently curses to himself. Of course, you were awake. As he looks down at you, you look back up at him. You both just stare at each other for a few seconds, before you slowly feel your face get hot. Backing away you apologize.
“I’m sorry Bakugou! I didn’t see you there, haha!” you awkwardly tuck your hair behind your ear. “Tch, maybe you should start to watch where you’re going.” You look up to see him looking away with a slight blush on his cheeks. You smile a little.
“Aww, is Bakugou worried I’ll hurt myself?” He looks at you startled. You were a bit shocked yourself. How were you able to tease him when you just met.
“Shut up, I wasn’t worried, I just don’t want your dumbass to run into me again.” He rolls his eyes. As things grow silent, you decide you wanted to confront him about the whole soulmate thing.
“Um, Bakugou, can I ask you something.” He just nods his head. He was really calm compared to earlier, maybe it was because he was tired.
“How do you feel about, um, well, soulmates?” You're a little nervous to be rejected. You know you didn’t know him well but you hoped that you would be able to, eventually. He’s silent for a second. You start to get even more nervous.
“Uhh, you know what? Just forget I said anything, haha!” You nervously let out, and start to walk past him back to your room. Tears threatening to spill as you feel like you just embarrassed yourself in front of your potential crush. You’re walking away when you are stopped abruptly. You look down to see a hand around your right wrist. Bakugou had stopped you.
“I don’t care about them,” he tells you. As you’re about to walk away feeling even worse, he continues. “But, you aren’t terrible.” you feel yourself start to smile.
“What does that mean?” you say, turning around. Bakugou looks embarrassed. He turns his head as he answers. “I could’ve had a worse soulmate, it could’ve been shitty Deku,” he responds. Is this his way of asking you out? You smile even wider.
“Are you asking me out, Bakugou?” you tease lightly. He turns even redder.
“Don’t make me regret it, shitty woman,” he says with little to no edge in his voice. He lets go of your wrist. You turn around and give him a tight hug.
“What the hell are you doing!?” He whisper screams.
“I’m sorry, Bakugou! I just couldn’t help it.” You look up at him and he’s looking away, still red.
“So, this means you’re my boyfriend?” You ask with a bright smile. He looks at you, at the sight of your smile, he grows redder (how that’s possible, you don’t know).
“Tch, whatever,” he says, and that answers your question. Your cheeks hurt from smiling.
“Well, boyfriend,” you say to tease him some more, “It is getting pretty late, and we should head to bed.” he nods in agreement. “Goodnight, Bakugou,” you smile at him and turn to walk away. As he’s watching you walk away, he has a small smile on his face.
Out of Sync (Part 2 of 2)
Summary:
Deku and Ochako have been married for the past 8 years and have two wonderful kids. Too bad marriage isn't easy. Ever since Deku lost his quirk two years ago, he's been in a slump. He's now a stay at home dad while Ochacko is a very popular pro-hero. The downside? Her agency works her so hard that she's barely home. Basically, Deku and Ochako realize it takes more than love to make a relationship and family work.
Uravity finally lost the battle with her supervisor. If she wanted to succeed then she had to comply with her agency's goals. She found the whole situation a little funny, this was never the life she imagined for herself. She always wanted to become a great hero and make enough money to support her family, which she could now do. She never expected the fame though, it was a little surreal. The feeling was intoxicating at first, but now she just felt hungover. The world was watching her though, so she didn’t have much of a choice but to comply with her agency’s requests.
“You okay?” she was so stuck in her head that she didn’t even notice Shinsou come into her office.
“Yeah,” she shook her head back into the moment. “I’m just a little tired, today was...chaotic.”
“Isn’t every day chaotic for the famous Uravity?” he joked, but there was truth in his words. Work felt like such a chore lately for Ochako.
“You’re probably right,” she forced a laugh. She wondered how other heroes were able to deal with the stress so gracefully. “Hey, can I ask you something?”
“Shoot,” nodded Shinsou. He juggled an apple between his hands and sat on the empty chair in front of her.
“How do you keep a work-life balance? I mean you have a kid and marriage too.” Ochako knew that Shinsou and Kaminari adopted a 5-year old this past year and neither seemed to struggle too much with the balance, at least not as much as she did.
“Well it isn’t easy, but we take shifts and make sure we can spend time with her. The hardest thing is probably spending time with each other though. Date night once a week is essential. It’s also important to keep intimate if you know what I mean.” Shinsou said as he took a cheeky bite of his apple.
“Lucky you,” Ochako buried her face in her hands. When was the last time she and Deku had sex? She couldn’t even remember and it’s not like they had gone on many dates recently either. She wished she had the time, but right now she could barely spend any time with her kids let alone be intimate with her husband.
“To be fair, they don’t slave drive me. I’m not the agency star, so I get off the hook pretty easily. A 40-hour workweek, most of which is nighttime patrols, affords me way more free time than you get. I even get two days off a week,” explained Shinsou.
“I don’t know what to do about it,” huffed Ochako. At this point what could she do? They wanted her to work even more hours now. If she didn’t then there was no way she could make Japan’s top 10 in the next hero ranking. “They need me here.”
“They don’t need you, they want you. You're their rising star.” Shinsou gave her a sympathetic look. “Do you even like being popular?” Uravity knew the answer to that question, she just didn’t want to admit it.
“Honestly no, but I’m in too deep now. How would Japan feel if Uravity suddenly stopped being a great hero so she could stay home with her family? What can I do?”
“You could always quit and join another agency. It’s not like Japan would lose Uravity, they’d just see her a little less. Also if we’re being honest, half your time is taken up with those damn publicity events. Maybe if you join another agency you can focus on the hero work.” suggested Shinsou. “Anyway, I got to head home, but I guess I’ll see you tomorrow?”
“I’ll be here,” she waved him goodbye but she was still stuck on his previous comment. She couldn’t just quit and join another agency. Could she?
It was 3 p.m now and Deku had finally gotten the kids to take a nap. This was one of the rare moments of the day where he got time to himself. He opened up his dresser and dug out the different police academy pamphlets he kept on hand. He wanted to talk to Ochako about this, he really did, but for some reason, the thought terrified him. He had lost a part of himself the day he lost One for All and maybe he could never get it back. Still, he had to try. He was looking through some of the pamphlets when he felt his phone buzz.
Shouto: Hey, I’m in the neighborhood can I come over?
Deku didn’t know how to feel about Shouto coming over. On one hand, he could use a friend to talk to. On the other, he was still upset about what Toshi said earlier. He supposed his feelings for the former were stronger so he sent his friend a text.
Izuku: Yeah sure, the kids are sleeping though so we’ll have to keep quiet. If they find out you’re here they’ll never let you leave.
Izuku heard a knock on the door only a few minutes later. His friend was still in his hero costume and Izuku assumed he just got back from work.
“Busy day at work?” he asked the taller boy who let out an exasperated sigh.
“Work? Nah that’s been the easy part. It’s wedding planning that’s killing me. Momo is keeping me so busy right now. I might be hiding out here.” said Shouto with a stupid smile.
“Well, I’ve been trapped in this house for so long, I don't even know how the outside world looks anymore. You might as well join me,” said Izuku.
“When’s the last time you’ve been out?” asked Shouto.
“Does the grocery store or children’s playground count?” sighed Izuku. He never had time to go out. He always had to take care of the house and the kids. Shouto always suggested that he get a babysitter, but he felt bad about it. His only job right now was taking care of the kids. He at least needed to do that properly.
“You know I never understood why you got married at 19. You already have two kids at the age of 27,” commented Shouto. Ochako and he decided that they didn’t want to wait to get married and start a family. He loved her so much and back then they were all over each other. He still loved her, more than anything, but it was different now.
“What can I say? I liked it so I put a ring on it.” Shouto cringed at Izuku’s comment.
“Never mind, maybe I’ll just go and hide at Bakugou’s place,” joked Shouto which caused Izuku to throw a pillow at him.
“Shut up,” chuckled Izuku. “Anyway I can’t believe Yaoyorozu and you took this long to get married. You’ve been dancing around each other since high school.”
“Well, we were at different agencies for a while and it took a while for us to reconnect. The timing was good though. We’re both ready to get married now, although wedding planning is giving me a huge headache. Why can’t we just elope already.” the bi-colored boy collapsed on the couch. “I swear if I have to taste another piece of cake then I’m moving to Mexico.”
“You wouldn’t survive a day in Mexico.”
“Oh yeah? Watch me.”
They soon settled into a comfortable silence. Shouto was his closest friend from UA and they made it a point to talk to each other often. Before the incident, they would go out almost every weekend. They even worked at the same agency. Things might have been different now, but he knew Shouto would always be there for them. Still, he didn’t forget what Toshi told him earlier.
“Hey Shouto?” the taller boy turned to look at his friend. “Did you tell Toshi not to talk to me about quirks because I’d feel bad?” The silence wasn’t so comfortable now.
“I just didn’t want you to worry about it. I remember how devastated you were after the incident. I figured if Toshi kept talking about quirks then you’d feel worse. You’ve come so far, Ochako and I just didn’t want that to change.” explained Shouto. Izuku knew what he was trying to do. Ochako was doing the same thing. She’d never talk about hero work in detail, mention who she saw at publicity events, or talk about quirk training with him.
“I know what you’re both trying to do, but quite honestly it makes me feel worse. I hate that those closest to me are walking on eggshells around me. The fact that Toshi was doing it just hurt. I’m not ‘Deku’ anymore, but I feel more useless than ever.” He hated feeling like this, but he did. Why couldn’t he just move on? He hated himself for it, for being someone others had to take care of.
“I’m sorry. I know things haven’t been the same.” Shouto paused. Izuku knew what question was coming next. “Did you sign up yet? Did you talk to her at least?”
He was talking about the police academy. Honestly, Izuku didn’t even want to tell Shouto about it, but his friend had connections at the local police station. Izuku went over once to ask about the job requirements and Shouto heard about it.
“I know I keep saying this, but you should talk to her. It’s been two years, and none of us want to see you like this. I know you love your kids, but I can tell you’re miserable being trapped here 24/7.” Shouto came over and placed a hand on his shoulder. Izuku knew he was right, he had to talk to Ochako about this.
“Shou-chan?” his sleepy toddler emerged from her bedroom. She must have woken up because of the noise. He wanted to get back out there, he did, but could he just leave them?
It was 5:30 now and Uravity just finished up another rescue mission. There had been a cave-in at a local mine and they needed her zero-gravity quirk. Another half an hour and she’d be able to leave work and go home. That was if she wasn’t called in in the next thirty minutes for another save. She desperately wanted to make it to dinner with the kids today, it was Sunday after all. She sat at the desk in her office and looked at the unread messages on her phone.
Deku: Shouto came over. Looks like Hikari likes him.
Below that was a picture of her friend carrying her daughter on his shoulder. Hikari looked so bright and happy that she couldn’t help but smile. She looked beautiful like that. Below that was another photo of Hikari smearing paint on Deku's face with her hands. She must have been finger painting. She lived for these pictures and was hoping she could get home fast enough to greet her friend and join in on the fun.
Izuku glanced over at the clock. It was 7:30 now and Ochako still wasn’t home. He wasn’t surprised though, he wasn’t even angry anymore. Shouto left an hour ago and the kids and he just finished dinner. They knew better than to expect their mom at dinner when she was busy with hero work, but it still hurt to have an empty seat at the table. He missed sitting and laughing together as a family. He missed looking over and seeing Ochako stuff her mouth with food and Toshi asking her a million questions about work.
It was 9:00 now and Ochako had just finished another rescue mission. Looks like Japan doesn't want her at home with their kids. She took the train home, ready for more hollow words from her husband. He would insist that her absence was okay and would tell her he understood, but she knew better. He wasn’t okay with it, but she couldn’t figure out if he was angry or apathetic. She hoped it was the former because that would mean he still cared. Maybe he even missed her.
Deku heard the door open at 10:15, which was late even for Ochako. The kids were both asleep now and had to go the entire day without seeing their mother. It wasn’t like Izuku could spend too much time with her either. She was probably tired and had every right to be. He was so proud of her for being such a great hero and he was probably a bigger Uravity fan than even Toshi. It had been a long time since he’d spent time with his wife though. He wanted to hold Ochako in his arms, not Uravity. He wasn’t too mad today though. He desperately did not want to talk to her about the police academy. Telling her would mean he would have to go through with it. He wanted to, but maybe he was too messed up now? That and the kids, he didn’t want to leave them, but at the same time, he didn’t want to be trapped with them.
“They’re asleep aren’t they?” sighed Ochako. She missed them again. How many more nights would she miss with them? How fast would they grow under her nose? “I’m sorry, I thought I could come home earlier, but there was a last-minute rescue mission. It seems Japan can’t give me a break.”
“It’s fine, you know I understand. You’re a busy hero, I get it.” he gave her an empty smile and got out some food for her to eat.
“No you don’t get it,” said Ochako. She was done with this little dance they had memorized. This wasn’t the life she wanted. She used to love hero work. She used to love coming home and spending the day with a kid in her lap. She loved it when Deku came in after her and kissed her on the cheek. She loved laying down in her husband’s lap while they watched T.V on the couch. She didn’t get to do any of that anymore. Life just felt like an endless loop of disappointment.
“What do you mean?” he hadn’t seen Ochako frustrated in a long time.
“I work all day and come home so late that I can’t even see my kids. My daughter doesn’t call me Mama, My son sees me as only a hero and my husband…”
“Your husband?”
“My husband hasn’t acted like the man I love in a long time.” Ochako winced as she watched Izuku’s face fall. Maybe she had gone too far.
“Well, I’m sorry I’m just dead weight then." Izuku retorted.
"That's not what I mean." Ochako sighed.
"Then what do you mean. You always walk on eggshells around me Ochako. I feel like a wounded animal around you."
"I'm trying to be considerate. You know you're no better, I feel like such a robot around you!"
"Robot huh?" Izuku calmed down a little. He realized he had been treating Ochako a little like that recently.
"Yeah a robot. " huffed Ochako. "I mean, I don't blame you. That's how I've been acting recently. I'm just a machine that works and sleeps at this point."
"I didn't realize you felt that way. At least you get to go out and be your own person,” said Izuku. “I feel so trapped here, both physically and mentally, but I need to keep it together because I know you already go through it at work.”
“I never asked you to keep it together. I want you to talk to me, I want you to trust me again. I am here for you whenever you need me. Lately, it feels like you hate me. You don’t even look me in the eyes when I get home.”
“I don’t hate you. Do you know how much I miss you?” He turned to face Ochako. “Do you know how much it hurts me to not have you here? I don't say anything because I know I can’t add another thing onto your plate late like.” Deku pulled her in for an embrace, resting his chin on her brown hair. He should have held her like this sooner.
It felt warm in his embrace and for the first time in a long time, she could breathe freely. He was different now, he had changed from the incident, but in the last 8 years, she had changed too. She still loved him, she never would stop loving him. “Don’t let go,” she whispered into his chest.
Izuku realized just how much he lost himself these last two years. They had both changed so much and maybe it was time for another change. “I’m sorry for being so useless,” he mumbled into her hair.
“Don’t. Don’t do that to yourself, don’t snuff all the light out. I want to see your bright eyes again. You're not useless, you never were. You do so much for our family and I want to see you do something for yourself again.”
“Ochako?” his breath hitched. “I-I don’t know if I can do that.”
“You can, I know you can. Please, just try for me. Don’t be afraid of what’s out there.” She broke away from his embrace and cradled his face, still wearing her gloves from work. That way he wouldn’t float up in the air. Even without her using her quirk, Deku felt pretty weightless right now.
“I-I was thinking of maybe joining the police force. I wanted to enroll in the police academy, but I’ve kind of been avoiding talking to you about it. What if I fail in that too? I don’t know if I can handle so many broken dreams.” he was crying now. He didn’t allow himself to cry in front of the kids, but he was crying now.
“Hey, I can’t imagine what it must have felt like to retire from hero work at such a young age, but don’t let that moment define your life. If you’re ready to move on, I’m here to support you.” Ochako smiled at him. He knew she was right.
“It’s not like I haven’t been quirkless before, but it feels different now. I had a taste and then suddenly everything was gone. I’m grateful I got to be a hero for as long as I did, but sometimes I wonder what it would have been like if All Might gave One for All to someone else.”
“Don’t talk like that Izuku. You inspired so many people during your time at UA and as a hero. One of those people being me, and besides, if you never got One for All we might not have met. Then Toshi and Hikari would never have been born. What I’m trying to say is don’t live in the past and look towards the future.”
“I suppose if my lifetime achievement was inspiring the great Uravity then my life wasn’t so bad.” he smiled as he worked to regain some composure.
“About that..” Ochako frowned at the comment. “What if I didn’t want to be so great anymore. Don’t get me wrong, I love hero work and everything, but maybe being a top ten hero isn’t for me. I’d rather have a few more hours with the kids than be so popular.”
“Are you sure about that Ochako?” frowned Izuku. “I mean is that not your dream?”
“My dream was never to become a famous hero. I just wanted to make enough money to support my parents, and I’ve made plenty to do that. It’s just I want to support my family in a way that’s not purely financial. I want to be here to see our kids grow up and I want to spend more time with you too. I’m ready to be Ochako again.”
“Well, whatever you want to do, I’ll support you too.” Izuku kissed his wife but was interrupted by the footsteps of his sleepy son.
“Mama?” Toshi said, rubbing his eyes awake.
“Toshi, why don’t you head back to your room, I’ll tuck you in,” said Izuku.
“Please can I do it?” Ochako asked. Izuku gestured for her to go ahead. Tonight was good for them, their shoulders had been freed of the loads they'd been carrying. A change was on the horizon and they were both ready for it.
Ochako woke up to her husband drawing circles on her back which was unusual considering it as 5 a.m on a Monday.
“What are you doing?” she whispered to him.
“I’m tired of waking up to an empty bed,” he said to her.
“Well, let’s hope that’s not the case forever.” She kissed him on the cheek and got ready for work.
It was noon now and Izuku had been struggling to dial the number on the pamphlet in front of him all day. He already talked to Ochako about it, but it was still hard. Somehow he managed to suck it up and dial the number.
“Hello my name is Izuku Midoriya and I was looking to enroll in your police academy. That is if there are any spots available” He was doing this, he was really doing this.
"Yeah we can offer you a spot, but you'd need to pass the physical test first. How does Friday sound?" the voice on the other end of the phone said to him.
“Okay, yeah Friday sounds wonderful. Thank you for your help.” He did it, well he almost did. He would have to go in to take a physical test first, but it felt good to finally be moving on with his life. He got out his phone to text Ochako.
Deku: I did it! I called them. I still have to go in for a physical this Friday though.
Ochako smiled at her phone, she was proud of him. Now it was her turn, she needed to confront her supervisor.
Ochako: That’s great news, hopefully, I’ll have some soon too.
Uravity braced herself for what was coming next. She took a deep breath and opened the door to her supervisor's office. This was going to be difficult. When she walked in the older woman was focused on the paperwork in front of her, paying no attention to the panicked look on Ochako’s face.
“Hello, Uravity? What is our agency’s star looking for?” her supervisor asked, eyes still focused on the paperwork.
“I’m actually looking to resign,” Ochako said while twiddling her thumbs. Her supervisor was an older woman in her sixties, but she still scared the living daylights out of Ochako.
“What do you mean?” her supervisor looked up at her and for a moment Uravity thought about running away and pretending nothing happened.
“Listen, Ma’am, I appreciate all this agency’s done for me, but I can’t keep working this hard. I love being a hero, I do, but I also have a family and have no time to spend with them. I know this will mean I won’t rank high, but I just don’t care too much for that anymore.” Ochako explained.
“So you’re quitting hero-work?” the older woman pursed her lips together in disappointment.
“No, of course not,” Ochako waved her hands in refusal. “I was planning on joining a smaller agency and working fewer hours. That way I can be a hero and still have time to spend with my kids.”
“I see. Well, we can’t afford to lose you.” sighed her supervisor. “I can give you 8 hour days and 1 day off a week.” Ochako couldn’t believe what she was hearing. She normally worked 12+ hour days so the extra time would be a huge help. Nevertheless, she still wanted to test out her luck.
“Two days off per week,” she added.
Her supervisor pondered the suggestion. “I suppose that can be done. Nice having you Uravity.” Ochako walked away feeling lighter than air. She pulled out her phone to text Deku.
Ochako: Good news, I’m still at the same agency, but they cut my work hours and I have two days off per week.
Deku: Really? That’s great :)
It was 6:30 now and Izuku was busy making dinner when he heard the door open. He had a sneaking suspicion Ochako would be coming home early today, but he didn’t tell the kids about it.
“Mama? Mama, you’re home early!” cheered Toshi as he went to hug his mother at the door.
“Hey, honey. Mama’s going to be home a lot more now.” she smiled at him.
“Uravity!!” she heard her daughter say while pointing at her. They still had to work on that, and the extra time at home would definitely help.
“Nice to have you home Ochako.” Deku smiled at her and she swore his eyes were a little brighter than before. He was slowly, but surely getting his spark back.
“Nice to be home,” she smiled back at her husband.
For the first time in a long time, the Midoriya family enjoyed dinner together. Nothing was completely fixed, but that was okay. Change was around the corner, and they were both ready for it. Ochako and Izuku signed up for a lifetime when they married each other, no matter the struggles it might bring. They were ready to juice every last moment from it. When dinner was done, the couple retreated to the couch together as their kids played in their room.
“I love you,” Izuku whispered as he kissed his wife on the forehead. He was excited to work again. He was going to miss the kids, but he needed to do this for himself. At least he knew he could count on Ochako to be there for him when he needed her.
“I love you too,” Ochako whispered back as she leaned her head on his shoulder. Her heart swelled with joy from being back home with her family again. She grabbed her husband’s hand and laced their fingers together, never wanting to let go.
The Gamer Hero, Deku Chapter 14
A/N: So I've been thinking, and do you guys think I should post my fanfics on Archive of our Own too? I know some people prefer AO3, plus if anyone makes fanart of a certain scene then I could, with permission of course, be able to put it on there (wink wink nudge nudge i have a tumblr). Plus there's that whole thing about how AO3 has lawyers and stuff to protect their fanfic writers. That's pretty cool.
Kyrianae Narii: Yeah people would totally call Izuku one of the fathers of modern magic. I mean, I wouldn't. If anything, he's the grandson of modern magic. (¬‿¬)
xoxoxo
I closed all of the text boxes I'd gotten now that we were back at Yuuei, the police were done taking our statements, and just waiting for our parents to show up on account of the fact that they didn't want to let us go just yet unless it was with a relative. My level jumped from twenty-eight straight to thirty-six after taking out the Nomu. It made sense, it was so above my level that I couldn't even see how much it was above my level. Plus I got another title, Giant Slayer, for having beaten more than one opponent with a level at least fifty over mine, the other one probably being the zero-pointer. It gave me a small offense and defense boost for every level over mine an enemy was, which I knew almost immediately would get less and less useful as time went on, even if it was very good at the moment. I was already level thirty-six, and it was the first semester. Not to mention, depending on how it worked, it was entirely possible that it'd make me weaker against weaker opponents. Of course, I wasn't the only one who leveled up in the USJ. I looked over at Uraraka, who was sitting next to me.
Megalovania
LV 23
Uraraka Ochako
Apparently she'd stopped Kurogiri for so long by using gravity to slam him into the ground and then making him fall in another direction whenever he tried to make a warp gate to get away. It was apparently really effective, at least until he managed to trick Uraraka into throwing him into a portal. She had a really intense look on her face still, and I could feel my weight fluctuating from the gravity mana she was unconsciously releasing.
"I apologize deeply for not being able to help more," Iida said to Uraraka.
She sighed and lightened up. And I mean literally lightened up; the gravity effect stabilized, causing her chair to stop creaking. "No, you did fine. I just couldn't help feeling like... Like maybe if I noticed that portal sooner, I would've been able to do cancel out Thirteen's Black Hole..."
"I-I'm sorry!" Nebula said.
Uraraka smiled and ruffled her starry hair. "No, you're fine."
"B-but I couldn't help at all, you did everything..."
"There'll always be next time," she said. Nebula sniffled. "Let's... change the subject for now. What the heck was that thing you did to the giant monster?"
"Yeah," Kirishima shouted, quieting the general conversations that were going on, "that was super manly!"
"I would also like to know," Tokoyami said.
I felt my face heat up a bit and rubbed the back of my neck. Almost everyone who was still there was staring intently at me as they waited for my explanation. "So, you guys know how my Quirk works like a video game, right?" They nodded. "So one factor of this I almost never use is that I get points for leveling up that I can use to raise my stats, and I used that to raise my WIS, which gave me three new skills. One of those was Duality, which raised my elemental affinity and gave me access to secondary elements, one of which was lightning."
"I told you, Kaminari!" Jirou shouted, pointing at him. Yaoyorozu smiled awkwardly and put her arm on Jirou's shoulder.
"And then I got a much better version of Elemental Aura from raising its level enough called Elemental Embodiment when fighting the Nomu, which was what I used to beat it."
"So that's why it looked like you were teleporting," Hagakure said.
"Yeah, though it wasn't really teleportation," I said. "I just spilled a lot of water on the floor and conducted myself through it in Lightning Embodiment."
"Dang, that's pretty awesome," Kaminari said. "I wish I could do that."
"Well if you practice Lightning Aura enough, you might be able to do it. To use Elemental Aura, you infuse your body with elemental mana. Elemental Embodiment is just that, but... more," I explained. "Sorry I can't give you more for that, but I only used it three times in the middle of battle and the downside of automatically learning things with my Quirk is that it's a little hard to explain how to do them sometimes unless I concentrate really hard on what I'm doing."
"Nah, it's cool, man. I'm sure I can figure it out eventually."
"And by the way," Kacchan said. "You probably shouldn't use a spell that makes you generate electricity all over your body anywhere near anything sensitive to electricity. Not at first anyway." He paused for a moment. "Actually with your Quirk, you should probably know how the fuck that shit goes."
Kaminari gave a thumbs-up. "Don't worry, I learned that lesson already."
"What were the other two?" Sero asked. "You said you got three WIS skills, right?"
"Yeah. There's Tactician, which just lets me think better and automatically gives me information on my skills as I need them, but only when in a battle or crisis. The other one..."
Mantra (Passive) LV1 EXP: 52.19%
Mantra is a sacred utterance, words to live by. This skill represents the ability to change one's meditation into an internal mantra when not in danger, providing some of the benefits of meditation without the downside.
Allows the use of Meditation as a passive when not in times of high exertion and/or stress, but with 1/5th the effect.
Stacks with Meditation.
"Mantra is interesting. I can't use it in battle, but it basically turns another of my skills, Meditation, into a passive at the cost of some of its effect. That pretty much means that my HP and MP regenerate a bit faster and, even more usefully, I can automatically train one stat aside from LUC at a time."
Slowly, we broke back up into our smaller groups and started talking to each other. "Hey Deku," Uraraka said, then pointed to Tsu, who was sitting alone. "Is it just me, or is Tsu-chan shaking a bit.
I winced. "Oh," I said. I'd asked her if she was okay after everything was over, on account of the part where she almost died, but she just said she was fine and I didn't even think to Observe her to check to see if that was the case. Though in hindsight doing that might have been an invasion of privacy. "She... almost got her face disintegrated. I think I might need to talk to her."
Uraraka got up, a serious look on her face. "No, I'll go."
xoxoxo
Tsuyu Asui felt like she couldn't breath, and her heart was pounding. Every time she closed her eyes, she could see that man's hand in front of her face. Her hands kept on shaking, even when she tried to stop.
"Are you okay, Tsu?" a familiar voice asked. "Deku said something about your face almost disintegrating, which sounded like it was really scary," Uraraka said.
Tsu took a deep breath, and tried to steady herself. She didn't want to worry any of her classmates. "I-I'm fine, Uraraka."
Uraraka sat down next to her. "You can call me Ochako, if you want. It's okay if you're scared, Tsu. I was terrified, and I didn't even get attacked." Tsu bit her lip. Her vision started to blur, and a hot tear rolled down her cheek. Ochaka held her arms out, offering a hug. "Do you want to cry on my shoulder." Tsu let out a small kero and leaned into her embrace, pressing her face to Ochako's shoulder. She sobbed and let the tears flow. "There," Ochako said. "Feel better?" Tsu nodded, face still on her shoulder. Ochako rubbed her back lightly. "That's good."
xoxoxo
"I feel shame as a class representative that I didn't notice how Asui was suffering," Iida said as he watched Uraraka comfort Tsu.
"Maybe you could see if anyone else needs a hug?" I offered.
"Ah, thank you, Midoriya. I will do that."
"Just remember," Kacchan said, "if someone's on the verge of a fucking panic attack, make absolutely fucking sure to use your fucking indoor voice."
"I know that," Iida said using his fucking indoor voice. He looked over at us. "Bakugou, Midoriya, are you two alright?"
"Oh my fucking what," Kacchan said flatly. "I'm pretty sure we're both fine!" He shooed Iida off. "Go, ask how everyone else is!"
"We're good, Iida," I said. "Koda looks a little nervous, maybe start with him?" I gave Iida a thumbs-up as he walked over to Koda.
I heard the tapping of a certain needle cane. "Midoriya-kun!" Recovery Girl said as she entered the room. "I'd like you to come to my office. I've patched up Erasor Head and Thirteen enough that I'm willing to let you get some hands-on experience."
"Right," I said. "I'm coming."
"Izuku!" my mom shouted, then grabbed me in her death grip of motherly worry. "Are you okay? I was so worried!"
"Katsuki!" Auntie Mitsuki shouted. "You damn well better be alright!"
"I'm fine, ma!" he shouted back to her.
"So you two must be Midoriya-san and Bakugou-san," Recovery Girl observed. "If you don't mind, Midoriya-san, I'd like to take your son to my office for a bit."
Mom stepped back a bit and inspected me. "Is Izuku hurt?"
"M-mom, I'm fine!" I said.
"Sorry, I think I should've worded that better," Recovery Girl said. "Midoriya-kun is fine, but I'd like to have him help with the actual wounded. He's taking my support hero courses, remember?"
"Oh, right!" Mom said. "How is my dear Izuku doing, by the way?"
"He's doing pretty well, which is why I want to borrow him for a bit. Plus, his healing spell can be safely used on people I've used my Quirk on because he's the one providing all the energy. I still need to learn it..."
"Right," I said. "If you don't mind, Mom, I'm going to go with Recovery Girl. I'll see you when I'm done."
She smiled at me. "Go on, sweetie."
xoxoxo
I looked over my new elemental affinities.
Air: 20
Earth: 20
Fire: 30
Water: 30
Bio: 20 (earth+water)
Ice: 20 (air+water)
Lightning: 20 (air+fire)
Molten: 20 (fire+earth)
Sonic: 20 (air+earth)
Vapor: 20 (fire+water)
I'd tested each combination of elements in Illusion Barrier just in case any of them were immediately explosive. The only one that did anything close to exploding, though, was sonic, which caused a low humming sound when I used it. Bio was... worrying at first, but I found that all it was was a combination of poison and plant, though I felt like maybe there might have also been some flesh manipulation in it that I wasn't quite willing to mess with just yet. It was interesting, though, using the secondary elements. Now that I was out of danger and able to properly concentrate on my magic, I noticed that it wasn't exactly fusing the elements together as I thought it was. If anything, it was more like using power that was less fragmented than the primary elements. It was odd but that was the best analogy I had. "Right," I said. "Is everything ready?"
"You do realize that this probably isn't the best idea, right?" Blaise asked, referring to the six ritual circles equidistant to my bed and in particular the molten lava and cup of boiling water he was keeping warm.
Halitus nodded. "Agreed."
"I'm going to be out of it either way, might as well speedrun it," I responded.
Rayne grinned widely. "I like it! We get all of the new weapon buddies at once!"
"Yeah, weapon buddies!" Dune agreed, happily pulling the cord on my I Am Here All Might action figure (with kung-fu grip).
"Right, let's start this," I said. I placed my hands in front of the circles, had Dune put the Laughing All Might in the empty circle to provide the sonic element, and activated the six rituals at once. "I, Midoriya Izuku, call upon the ancient contract of ages past to summon thee."
xoxoxo
I stirred from my sleep to the sound of a familiar explosion. "Suck it!" a slightly less familiar voice said. I opened my eyes to see several children that looked like they were roughly twelve, along with one girl who looked like she was ten, in varying states of corporeality. The boy whose voice I heard looked like he could have easily been Kaminari's younger brother, except for the odd-looking ears, the red spots on his cheeks, and a strange lightning-bolt tail. He had a yellow jacket with two brown stripes on it. My new lightning elemental, Raimon. He was holding one of the controllers of my Switch, and judging from his furious button presses he was the one who was playing the Pikachu that was winning. A lot.
"Cheater," Rayne whined. She'd gained even more dark blue on her clothes and hair, and she now had blue fingerless gloves with white knuckles. It looked like she was playing as Greninja. She wasn't very good with Greninja, though. I couldn't help but notice how Raimon and Rayne resembled the characters they were playing as. "I knew I shoulda picked the sword guy..."
"Which sword guy?" my vapor elemental, Claude, asked. He wore light, red body armor, had three spikes in his red hair, and for some reason reminded me of a lobster. "Aren't like half of them sword guys?"
"Thirteen of seventy-four," Halitus corrected. Halitus had changed a lot, actually. His hair was now sky-blue instead of his robes, and he had two long ponytails. His robes were fully made of the cloudy material with the exception of five blue tassels in the back that might have actually been some weird tail. He now had patches on his cheeks like Raimon, though his were white.
Claude rolled his eyes. "Same difference."
"Not even close, bro," the biggest of the elementals, Iggy, said. He was my new molten elemental. He had a red long-sleeved shirt with three blue circles on the sleeves and two large brown lumps on the back. His hair was also red with a few spikes, so he and Claude almost looked like they could have been brothers if not for his... camel ears? He had a red tail as well. "And I think it's my turn now." He put his intangible hands on Rayne's controller, and I felt a weird shift in the mana that was automatically leaving my mana pool as he and Rayne switched between being partially summoned and fully summoned. "Who else wants a go?"
Mifuyu, my ice elemental, switched with Raimon. "That would be me." Oddly enough for an ice elemental, she had dark red hair, eyes, and two tails. She was dressed in dark blue ninja clothes, like Rayne, but in a different shade. She had a small yellow gem on her forehead. Mifuyu picked Shiek and Iggy picked Dedede.
"So how are you guys able to summon yourselves?" I asked.
"That would be from my help," Pyra said. "It seems we elementals can summon ourselves, partially or fully, so long as our summoner can bear the strain of our summoning without a noticeable decrease in mana. Master Kacchan gained the strength to handle me recently, and it seems your current limit is three. With Sonia out regardless to allow us to be as loud as we want without waking your mother up, that meant that we've mostly been playing doubles matches."
"You're welcome, by the way," my sonic elemental said. She had a purple shirt, a black scarf, and black jeans. On her nose she had rounded triangular purple sunglasses that you could still see her golden eyes through and over her ears were some expensive-looking purple headphones. "Yeah, after the primary elementals filled us in on everything, Pyra showed up and told us how to summon ourselves so we could play some games to wait for you to wake up on your own."
"We did have some fun with a party game earlier," Juniper, my bio elemental, said. She had a blue-green dress with darker green patches on it. Around her neck she had a scarf that appeared to be made of green fronds, with a sort of brooch on the form of a pink bud. Her eyes were red, her hair was green, and she had pointed canine teeth. "I hope you don't mind too terribly. We didn't mess with anything and made sure not to mess with your saved data."
"Actually, if you guys want to make an account on that you totally can," I said. "I'm pretty sure that'll give you guys save files separate from mine."
"Let's do that later, then," Blaise said. His shirt darkened and the sleeves now had small patches of light blue on them. His scarf had changed to have long red ends with a few black dots on them. "For now we're just playing Smash."
"Can I join in next round?" I asked.
"Sure," Sonia said. "We still have an hour or so 'til morning, according to a few of your neighbours' clocks anyway."
"Hey, can I play next too?" Dune asked. Her clothes were now half camo and half solid black.
We played until the sun rose. It was fun.
xoxoxo
A/N: Just in case you didn't notice by now, Midoriya's The Gamer lacks the party level up feature that the original does. Only Midoriya can get more powerful from his Quirk.
And I bet you guys can tell at least one pairing I ship based on this chapter.
Now, for the elementals. First, I'd like to say this one thing. There is exactly ONE Pokémon that has the true power of steam, Volcanion, and I didn't want to bust out the legendaries just yet. So that meant I had to look over all of the Pokémon that can use Scald (the closest to a vapor spell I could find that wasn't Volcanion-exclusive) to figure out which one was the steamiest.
Juniper: Ivysaur
Mifuyu: Sneasel
Raimon: Pikachu, natch
Iggy: Camerupt
Sonia: Noibat
Claude: Corphish (insert morbid joke about steamed lobster here)
They're in their secondary stages (when applicable) because as intermediary elementals they're in the middle, in case you couldn't tell.
fragile ; ch 1
Ochako Uraraka is the leader of the League Of Villains with Izuku Midoriya, Katsuki Bakugo, Eijiro Kirishima, and Shouto Todoroki under her wing, here to purge the world of chaos with more chaos than needed. Three third years at U.A. and one first year decide that needs to change, someone needs to pick out the weakest link, and ironically enough, it's Touya's little brother.
AO3 link
All greatness starts in tragedy, and all tragedy ends in greatness. Himiko Toga and Tomura Shigaraki, age seven abandoned in an orphanage together for their "bad" quirks with only one drive. To survive and become the greatest heroes in the world. This drive brought them together as close friends, and later, they would be adopted together and become brother and sister. Himiko and Tomura Toga. They trained most of their lives, Tomura would offer his blood to Himiko so she could test out her quirk, Himiko would learn acting abilities from Tomura and perform for money, for which she would buy dolls an such for Tomura to practice his quirk on. They were survivors from the beginning, and survival mean competition. And that is where the competition began. Even after being adopted, Himiko continued her acting career. Her talent was recognized in middle school, when she had to take a student's place and decided to do so by using her quirk. She was recognized and put into quirk training classes after school, evoking jealousy in Tomura, an later throwing in rage when she was put into U.A. upon recommendation. There were fights among the Togas, and later, therapy was involved. Years of them tormenting each other every time the other got one upped. And it only continued into U.A. after Tomura was accepted. Yet, Himiko and Tomura were always in the same friends group, like twins. They both seemed close to the first year recommendation student, and they both had interest in the mysterious Todoroki in their class. And that is now it begins, this is how Himiko Toga, Tomura Toga, Touya Todoroki, and Momo Yaoyorozu planned on bringing the villains down. There was a slam of files on the desk from Tomura, Himiko watched Momo jump in surprise. She was young an not used to Tomura's aggressiveness, unlike Himiko who had grown up with Tomura threatening to disintegrating her. Himiko's yellow eyes widened, clicking his tongue, "What's this shit?" "Watch your mouth," Touya mumbled, brushing some of his red hair behind his ear. "Watch yours," Himiko answered, followed by her usual childish giggle so he'd know she was teasing him. Tomura rolled his eyes an scratched his neck, "These are the files on the villains we know of. There was an attack last night and one of them blew up the fucking orphanage we grew up in, took the kids with them, though. Still, fills me with a sense of dread..." Himiko's smile dropped as well as her head when she heard that. "Oh... That sounds horrible," Momo replied, there was concern in her eyes, though Himiko wasn't looking. Her entire three years at the orphanage were flashing before her eyes, and when you looked at Tomura, you could see he was going through the same. Touya broke the silence, "This needs to end, and fast. I guess, if the pro heroes won't do anything... I guess third years are second best." Tomura nodded along, "Todoroki, I'm depending on you to form a plan since you seem to be the only one who common sense here," he said, glaring at Himiko, who rolled her eyes. "At least I come up with pla-" "Togas, pipe down," Touya interrupted, to which both Tomura and Himiko complied. "Well," Momo started, "They've attempted to destroy the league from the outside, before, and there have been no results. I say we use Himiko-san's quirk to our advantage." Touya nodded along, "We need to pick out the weakest link. If we can capture the weakest, Himiko can take their blood an their place, destroy from the inside." Himiko's eyes widened as she clapped along, "I'm sooo down for this!" Tomura rolled his eyes before passing the files around, "Okay, you guys take a look at this shit." "Stop cursing in front of the first year, Toga," Touya responded, taking one of the files into his hands. "Please refrain from talking to me like I'm five," Momo added on, and Tomura chuckled. Himiko opened the file she got, the file for Ochako Uraraka. "'Ochako Uraraka, otherwise known as Uravity, age fifteen.' She's Momo's age..." Himiko started, and she watched Momo lift her head up in interest, "'Her quirk is Zero Gravity, anything she touches she can manipulate the gravity of. She's the leader of the League Of Villains and doesn't appear often. She's known to be more of a backup plan. From what we've seen of her, she's determined and focused.' She would be hard to capture and manipulate." Touya nods, though Momo has a horrified look on her face, "She's my age and she's already a villain..." Tomura pats on her on the back while Touya speaks up, "'Izuku Midoriya, otherwise known as Deku, age fifteen. No known quirk, he seems to be quirkless. Based on his mother, it's known that he was driven off the age due to bullying for being quirkless when he finally snapped. Much like Uravity, he is cold and determined, an always on guard, he's also unusually flexible. He is one of the front line villains,'" the red haired male said, "While being quirkless would be to Himi-chan's advantage, capturing Deku would be difficult, though. Apparently, he shares a connection with everyone in the League, and rumored to be very physically powerful. Possible second choice, though." "Mmm," Himiko said, shrugging then giggling, "You called me Himi-chan..." Touya gives a slight smile, but Momo cuts in. Clearly, she has had enough of Himiko messing around with her older brother figures. "'Katsuki Bakugo, otherwise known as Explosion or Kacchan by Deku. Age sixteen. His quirk is Explosion, he can create explosions from his hands and they get more powerful the more he sweats. He's known to be the protector of the League and especially tends to whisk Frostbite when he gets too panicked in battle. He's rude and stubborn, sometimes even his own teammates don't like him. He's known to yell quite a bit and argue with Deku. Not much is known about his story outside of the fact that he was born an illegitimate child an adopted his aunt, who was later killed in a quirk accident.'" "So, basically he's a bitch," Himiko said, and Tomura scoffed. "You sure are blunt," he said. "You are, too!" "Togas!" Touya interrupted once again, and the siblings hushed up again. Tomura spoke up again, "Guess it's my turn," he said, scratching his neck once again, "Shouto, unknown last name, otherwise known as Frostbite, he's just barely fifteen." Touya perked up, though didn't say anything. "He's Endeavor's killer..." Momo mumbled. "'His quirk is Half Hot and Half Cold, his left side uses fire and his right is ice. He never uses his left for unknown reasons. Shouto is almost never seen on the battleground, likely because he is known to be panicky and anxious. Frostbite is known to always be shaking, and frequently gives himself frostbite from overusing his quirk. Which is often why Explosion comes to his rescue often. It is also known that Frostbite is blind in his left eye.'" "Is there a picture?" Touya asks, and Tomura raises an eyebrow though nods, passing the file over. The ginger looks over the file carefully, his blue eyes wide before he as spoke up, his voice was much louder than usual, so much that it scared Himiko. "That's my little brother, holy shit." There was a noticeable pause in the room, silence that Himiko broke. "Your brother?! Touya, you never told me you had siblings!" Momo was glancing between everyone at the table before she spoke up, "That means... He killed his own father..." Tomura didn't say anything, though Touya eventually threw down the file and began to explain. "It's... It's not as bad as you think, there are things about mine and Shouto's past that are not written on paper that was hidden away, that people probably tried to cover up... My father was abusive. My siblings and I were all born of a quirk marriage, my father bought my mother in order to conceive of child of a perfect split between his quirk and my mother's. Shouto was that child, though when he was born, he was not... Treated well. Enji began training Shouto at age five, he'd beat him until he threw up or passed out, he'd beat my mother in front of him. I... I took some of it, too, when I was young, I was the first child and the first mistake, occasionally he hurt me, too. Still, he'd burn Shouto and force him to use his left side. Mother snapped and poured boiling water over his left eye, so that's why he's blind, mother was put into a mental hospital afterwards. I was cut off from him when he was about seven, so I don't know about anything after that, but I can only guess that after that, it only got worse..." There was silence, though Himiko could hear her brother scratching his neck and biting his lip. "If we have information on him and he's rather anxious, taking him would be rather easy, though it might just break him..." Tomura said. "It might just have to be a chance we're willing to take, Touya," Himiko said, "With your help, I can easily get his personality and maybe, just maaaybeee, we can actually conv-" "Himiko, hush, there's someone nearby," Tomura cut in, and the entire room went silent as Tomura covered his eyes out of instinct, maybe to help him hear better. "Who is it?" Himiko whispered. "I don't know! I can only sense a presence not who it fucking is!" Tomura whisper yelled. "Togas!" Touya whisper yelled back. Himiko's dorm room went silence for another five minutes until Tomura uncovered his eyes and glanced around. "Himiko, I think we have a spy among us."
Here's an Iida X Camie fic I wrote
Beach Trip
Despite his propensity towards working and studying, Tenya Iida understood the value of a well earned break. The entire class had done so much that depriving them of any brief respite from their training would be an unnecessary cruelty. As the Class Representative, it would go against his best intentions to not keep his classmates mentally and physically sound. Their internship period went quite awry (as most of their activities tended to go) and Iida suggested that they go to the beach to relax, a decision that was unanimously agreed upon.
Midoriya in particular dealt had a harrowing experience with Sir. Night Eye. With one of the “Big Three” third years students, Mirio; they fought a Yakuza group led by a villain who went by the name “Overhaul”. In the ensuing battle Sir. Night Eye died and Mirio lost the ability to use his quirk for the time being. Although he was confident that he could get his quirk back with the help of the little girl they saved. Iida was concerned that his friend would be scarred from what he went through.
He was relieved to see him having fun and generally enjoying himself with Ashido. Iida made a mental note to thank his pink classmate for keeping Midoriya’s spirits up. He chuckled to himself while reminiscing about Midoriya trying to tell him that they started dating. The poor boy was a stuttering mess explaining that he and Ashido were a couple. Iida was touched that Midoriya trusted him enough to confide in him about his personal life. Unfortunately, their once personal relationship was revealed to the whole class when Kaminari loudly exclaimed his shock at the pair dating. After a few crude comments from Mineta, Kaminari apologized profusely to the thoroughly embarrassed young couple. Thankfully, the rest of the class were supportive of “MinaDeku”.
Casting his gaze elsewhere, Iida spotted Uraraka laughing at Bakugou getting a sunburn.
“I told you should have gotten a a sunblock with a higher SPF rating. Don’t you go mountain climbing? You should be more prepared to go outdoors!”
“The fucking stupid weather reporter said it was supposed to be an overcast day! Stop giving me shit, Angelface!”
“Calm down, I packed some aloe vera because I figured someone would get sunburnt. I just never thought that it would be you. I guess I’m gonna have to put it on you since you can’t reach your sunburnt back.
“Yeah, you’d love to have your hands all over me, wouldn’t you Angelface?” Bakugou fired back with a cocky grin.
“You’re as smooth as sandpaper, Katsuki…”
Iida had to admit that he was aghast when Uraraka told him that Bakugou became her boyfriend. He even asked her if Bakugou had some blackmail material on her. She vehemently denied such accusations however, and Midoriya (who had known Bakugou longer than anyone else) backed her up. Midoriya noted that while Bakugou was a hotheaded fool, he would never force himself on a woman. In fact, Midoriya was much more calm about the news Uraraka broke to them. According to him, Bakugou never cared about anything except becoming the number one hero so him actually forming a relationship showed his growth as a person.
Thinking about those two made Iida remember the time when Uraraka stubbed her toe and let out a stream of some…rather colourful language. In hindsight, it should have been obvious that a person whose parents work in the construction industry would know quite a few curse words. But in that moment, everyone in the classroom was looking at Uraraka with abject horror in their eyes. Well, everyone except Bakugou, who was grinning from ear to ear.
While that explained why Bakugou was attracted to Uraraka, Iida was still confused as to what his friend saw in that explosive delinquent, against his better judgement, he outright asked her why she was going out with him. According to her, Bakugou was the first to treat her like an equal, he was confused by her reasoning until she explained it thoroughly. During the sports festival when they fought, Bakugou never held back against her and when everyone (including Iida and Izuku) reprimanded Bakugou for treating Uraraka like that he simply told them to stop treating her like some sort of fragile flower. It was at that moment when he realized that most of the class did treat Uraraka as some sort of “little sister” and their treatment pained her. She wanted to be treated as an equal but nobody took her seriously. Not even he or Midoriya, her best friends took her efforts seriously. Bakugou was the first person to not sugarcoat things for her. Iida then apologized for questioning her judgement and thankfully his gravity manipulating friend wholeheartedly accepted his apology.
He was brought back to reality when he heard Uraraka and Bakugou argue over aloe vera. Their argument also caught the attention of a third young couple (seriously, how many relationships formed in their class?) Todoroki and Yaoyorozu were relaxing near the water when they turned their heads towards the commotion. Seeing that it was simply Bakugou and Uraraka having another petty squabble, they went back to their way of relaxing, namely Todoroki resting his head on Yaoyorozu’s lap.
Iida was happy that Todoroki found some happiness. Ever since he connected with Midoriya after the sports festival, the fire and ice user became a close friend with him, Uraraka, and Midoriya and regularly joined them whenever they got together. During a meeting with all the Class representatives, Yaoyorozu let it slip that she has a crush on Todoroki but was too shy to talk to him about it. This was a blow to the lightning fast, bespectacled hero in training who had developed his own crush on Yaoyorozu. It was obvious that Todoroki and Yaoyorozu were perfect for each other. Both were recommended students from highly influential families, both had to deal with a lot of pressure to succeed and they bonded over it. Why wouldn’t the two best students in 1A end up together?
All Iida did was push Todoroki towards Yaoyorozu and the duo hit it off immediately. After their first date, Todoroki actually visited Iida after class to thank him for giving him the confidence to actually pursue Yaoyorozu. The Class Rep simply told him that that he doesn’t deserve much credit “after all, you’re the one she is attracted to.” Seeing a rare genuine smile grace his scarred friend’s face made Iida proud. After hearing the circumstances surrounding Todoroki’s conception and his subsequent childhood, Iida felt that he deserved some happiness. Spending time with Yaoyorozu seemed to give a certain peace of mind that the guy desperately needed. Who cares if he also had a crush on the secondary Class Rep? It was more important to ensure the happiness of two of his fellow classmates.
…that didn’t mean he wasn’t jealous, however. Despite his analytical attitude, Iida was still a sixteen year old and had illogical and conflicting emotions.
“It’s great to see another Class Representative having a good time.” Iida was roused from his self pitying session when he heard the voice of Inasa Yoarashi, the wind powered ace of Shiketsu High. Iida and Yoarashi became fast friends when the school did a co-op program, they bonded over their similar attitudes and status as the Class Representative. When Iida invited his class to join them in their mini “vacation” Yoarashi accepted his invitation as soon as his class In Shiketsu agreed with him.
“Going to the beach was a great Idea, this hot sun will make our blood boil until we become TRULY HOT BLOODED HEROES!” normal people might have been perturbed by Yoarashi’s bombastic personality but Iida took being a hero as serious as him and wholeheartedly embraced Yoarashi’s attitude.
“I’m glad the rest of your class agreed to join us on our trip! I hope that Yuuei and Shiketsu develop a permanent kinship that will last eternally!”
After taking time to inspect and compliment Iida’s impressive musculature (Seriously, the guy had an eight-pack!) Inasa noticed the amount of couple that had formed in class 1A of UA high and the fact that his friend was still single.
“Looks like your classmates are a bit overly friendly with each other, Iida. but I’m surprised that someone as hot blooded as you still hasn’t won the attention of someone special…”
“Well…I did have eyes on a certain someone, but I bowed out when it was clear that she had eyes for another classmate” Inasa noticed that Iida took a cursory glance at Todoroki and his apparent girlfriend and scrunched his face. Even though he amended all the hard feelings towards Endeavor’s son, Inasa still had some lingering resentment for the guy and now he found out that that punk indirectly crushed his friend’s heart. That made him irrationally angry. He felt the gears turn in his head and vowed to become a good wing-man for his boy. He spotted Camie listlessly go about the beach, no doubt depressed that she needed to take the make-up exams despite not being able to take the regular License exams in the first place. He just knew that someone as hot blooded and wonderful as Iida could win her heart.
“Hey Iida, I was going to spend time with Camie but Seiji needs my help recovering his lost contacts. Can you show her around this beach? You’re more familiar with this place than any of us are.”
“I would be glad to accompany your friend and show her around the beach!”
“I knew that a man of your character would tirelessly help my friend!” Inasa quickly zeroed in on his Camie and dragged the hopelessly confused girl towards Iida and quickly introduced them to each other.
“This guy is the Class representative of Yuuei’s 1A class, Iida. he knows this area so he’ll show you around.” then Inasa pointed towards Camie “So Camie is a friend of mine. She’s pretty quirky and I’m not just talking about her quirk-”
“Didn’t you say you needed to help your friend retrieve his contact lenses? It would be cruel to keep him waiting.”
“Yeah, you’re right!” Inasa looked over at Seiji, who was lounging on a towel and yelled “I’M GONNA HELP YOU FIND YOUR CONTACTS IF IT’S THE LAST THING I DO!” even from a distance, anyone could see the look of utter confusion Seiji had on his face as his classmate sprinted towards him as if his life was on the line.
Of course, Seiji didn’t wear contacts or had any vision problems for that matter. Inasa just needed an excuse to leave his two friends alone. He knew that he would later regret his hot blooded actions, after all his impulsive personality is what led him to fail the license exams.
Iida and Camie both looked at the confused, narrow-eyed expression on Seiji’s face and thought the same thing “Poor guy is so disoriented at the loss of his contact lenses that he can’t even think straight” Strange minds think alike.
Camie took a quick scan of Inasa’s newest friend. Her eyes roamed up and down his body and to tell the truth- she really liked what she saw. Then the girl’s eyes caught some pipes sticking out of his legs?
Iida knew that Camie’s eyes were focused on his engines. It was quite odd to see mechanical parts sticking out of an otherwise normal leg and assured her that he doesn’t feel offended. “Those engines, they enable me to run extremely fast.”
“Yo! That’s mad LIT!” Apparently, Camie was impressed at his powerset. She abruptly stopped her praise and put a finger up to her lip in thought. “Wait a minute…you’re one of the dudes who fought Stain! I knew you looked familiar! Do I have permish’ to speak to one of the heroes who helped take down the Hero Killa?”
That statement was obviously a lighthearted one, but Iida still couldn’t help but deflate a bit. His battle with Stain proved that he wasn’t the altruistic hero that he thought he was. No, he fought for revenge, not caring about the life of the pro hero that was at death’s door. He fought Stain to avenge the crippling of his beloved brother and would have died were it not for the help of Midoriya and Todoroki. After that day, he vowed to become a true hero, not a vengeance filled monster. He looked at the scars running down his arms, a reminder of his failure.
“Uh, you okay?”
Damn! He forgot that Camie was talking to him! “My apologies, it’s just that the battle I fought against the Hero Killer was…traumatizing and for a while, everyone who spoke to me just wanted to know what exactly had transpired…”
“Yeah I get ya…Same thing is happening to me. Peeps just wanna know how I feel about being kidnapped, drugged and replaced. Like, why would I wanna think about that!?”
Sensing that the conversation became a tad too melancholy, Iida asked her if she wanted to get a drink. He pointed out a stand that served tropical drinks down by the pier. Thankfully, Camie’s demeanor changed and she became quite enthusiastic about visiting the locales. She grabbed Iida’s arm and raced towards the juice stand.
The two ordered their drinks, both of them being some sort of “iced smoothies” that to Iida’s knowledge, were only served in this establishment. Iida’s drink featured a lot oranges. The representative drank a large glass of orange juice every day to fuel his engines, so it was only natural that he grew fond of the fruit. Camie however, stuffed her drinks with every fruit on the menu. A smoothie that consisted of bananas, kiwis, strawberries, blueberries, and pineapple should, by all means taste like garbage but judging by the look on his companion’s face, it was good.
So good, in fact that Camie was wolfing down her drink hard. Before Iida could warn her to slow down she clutched her head and yelped in pain. Iida had seen this before- brain freeze. The drinks in this place were phenomenal and getting a cold-stimulus headache was practically a right of passage. The rest of the patrons and the man behind the counter all cheered at the newcomer’s first drink.
“Why are they all cheering?”
“Well…we’re just all happy about your first brain freeze in this establishment. Everyone who comes here tends to drink really fast at first and everyone suffers the consequences. The people here are just happy that you enjoy the drinks they serve.
“Oh…I thought they were making fun of me…”
“I assure you that everyone here is friendly. I’ve been coming here since I was a child and I guarantee you that the locals are wonderful!”
“That’s aight, I just had a bad experience doin’ the make-up exams. Nothin’ beats bein’ slut-shamed by kids!” she punctuated her words with mirthless laughter.
Iida felt terrible for Camie. It must have extremely difficult to be thrust back into action right after recovering from being drugged and kidnapped. He noticed that Shiketsu High didn’t seem too concerned about one of their students suffering at the hands of a member of the League of Villains. In fact, nobody seemed perturbed about the fact that Camie most likely has intense psychological trauma due to her experiences. Iida decided to attempt to comfort her but unfortunately, the super-sonic hero tended to be a bit…over the top.
“CAMIE, I ASSURE YOU THAT ONE DAY YOU SHALL BE A GREAT HERO! IN THE FUTURE, LEGIONS OF FANS WILL BE SCREAMING YOUR NAME! YOU JUST HAVE TO PERSEVERE!”
somehow, Iida ended up off his stool and put his right foot on top of where he was previously sitting while also pointing in the air dramatically. Camie looked around at the other people sitting down and they seemed nonchalant about Iida’s outburst. Turns out, they were used to his personality. Still, it was nice to get some sympathy once in a while…
Undisturbed by his regular customer, the man behind the counter handed them the bill. “Iida, that will be ¥1690 for the drinks”
Shit. Camie now just realized she left her bag with the rest of the class’ stuff. While her bikini did show off her great figure, it didn’t leave much room to put stuff in. thankfully, Iida pulled out a wallet from the zipped up pocket of his swim trunks (apparently some swim trunks had zipper) and handed the man the money.
“You can keep the change if you want, Shizuo”
“You still carry that waterproof wallet?”
“Indeed, my regular one is in my bag with the rest of my class’ supplies. I keep this one if I want to buy something from one of the shops dotted around the pier.” Iida turned towards Camie “I’m sorry for making you panic for a bit. I neglected to inform you that this was my treat. Besides, I don’t think you’re attire leaves you with much space to hold anything”
“I…I’ll pay you back later.”
“There’s no need to do that. I invited you to have a drink, I should not expect any compensation.”
“I’m mad grateful for that, thanks fam!”
After Iida bid farewell to the owner of the shop, the two explored the rest of the boardwalk. The spectacled student showed her various sights that she should keep an eye out if she ever decides to come again. But strangely, most of their time was spent just simply talking about their lives. They noticed that they both had a distinct way of speaking. Iida was overly formal for a sixteen year old while Camie peppered her dialogue with social media lingo.
“You know, a lot of people don’t take me seriously because the way I talk. They think I’m just some ratchet bimbo.” She didn’t know why she said that, it was a bit too personal to reveal her insecurities to a guy she knew for a day.
“Oh? Iida nodded "I don’t think you should put any stock into what those people think. You attend a prestigious school for future heroes. If people make assumptions about others simply due to their idiosyncrasies, that is their problem. I myself was called every variation of "nerd” you could imagine back in middle school. You simply shouldn’t care what fools think.“ there was a little more venom in his words than Iida intended.
”…thanks.“
"For what?”
“What you said…really helped me get over my funk. You’re a good guy, you know that.”
Iida turned away to hide the blush creeping on his cheeks. “Thank you.”
“We should do this again sometime…If you want to…I mean-”
“I would love to accompany you to another get-together!” “Get together”?! Iida cursed his awkward response.
“So…it’s a date?” She didn’t mean to use the word date. Well, she wanted to but that’s a whole other thing entirely…
“We should exchange phone numbers. I mean…it would be a pity if we had no way to contact each other…”
“That’s sounds lit AF!”
0000
After receiving Camie’s number, Iida returned to the shoreline to inform his classmates that it was time to leave. He had a spring in his step that the others seemed to notice but didn’t question.
He caught Todoroki and Yaoyorozu embracing under the light of the setting sun.
Iida didn’t feel jealous anymore. There was only one person on his mind right now.
0000
“I hope you didn’t mind being stuck with Iida all day…” Inasa noticed that Camie was distracted by her phone screen.
“Uh…Camie, I was speaking to you…”
“Huh, what?”
“I just wanted to know how your day went. You know, with Iida?”
“OMG! It was mad lit, yo!”
“That’s great to hear! Say, what’s so important about your phone that your neglecting to pay attention to your friend?” Inasa’s tone held some faux-outrage in it
“Just waiting for a text from a homie. He said he’ll text me tonight…”
“…He?” Inasa crooked his eyebrow in interest
Camie bolted to her room in a panic.
Inasa flashed a sly grin to no one in particular. “Rummaging in the sand for non-existent contacts was worth it if she’s texting who I think she’s texting…”
While Inasa was busy celebrating, Camie was lying on her bed waiting for a text. Maybe she was a bit too desperate waiting for a text message hours after giving him her number. Maybe he was doing something Class Rep related? The chime of her cell phone bought her back from her thoughts.
“Hello! It’s Iida, My apologies for making you wait so long for a message, Camie. I had to make sure every one of my classmates was accounted for.”
“Its no problm :D”
Fusion
That Tododeku Fusion AU i kept talking about.
this is actually part of a series of fusions i’ve done whenever i feel anxious or sad : here’s the rest if you want to read them
During fusion classes you had one of two options: you could practice with someone as a fusion by fighting with another fusion (or classmate), or try to fuse with someone.
And Deku was doing neither, because of the simple fact that everyone already had a pair to work with and he didn’t.
Just a few weeks before, Izuku actually had a partner, since Ochako was still hesitant to fuse with anyone else, so they were always Zero Gravity during Fusion classes. But ever since Urappy was formed, Uraraka began spending more time practicing with Tsuyu. It was something good, actually, since Urappy was probably one of the most stable Fusions in class. But it didn’t take away the feeling that Ochako was leaving Deku behind. Specially when, at that exact moment, he had no partner to work with.
He sighed, looking at Kaachan trying to fuse with Kirishima in the corner of the room. It was no surprise it was taking him a bit more effort to Fuse. After Fusing with Ochako Deku realized one thing.
“Ah Midoriya,” a voice called, making him turn around, “are you alone?”
“Yeah, Ochako kind of left me.” Izuku laughed and let his gaze follow Urappy. “And everyone else is already fusing.”
Todoroki hummed in affirmation, sitting right next to Deku while he stared at Urappy fight with Twinge, who was actually quite entertaining to look at. For someone who moves at the speed of light, he sure did made a big deal out of everything. Urappy was having a hard time trying to contain him. But Urappy was Urappy, she’d manage. Eventually. She always did.
“Same here,” Todoroki said, sighing. Izuku gave him a confused look, “Yaoyorozu got tired of not getting progress and left me for Jiro.”
“That’s weird, I didn’t think Momo would give up so easily,” Izuku wondered, recalling how Momo always gave her 120% in everything ever.
“Yeah, I don’t think she left me for the lack of progress,” Todoroki shrugged, “she just wanted to fuse with Jiro.”
“I don’t think that’s-“ Izuku tried to reassure Todoroki, but in that exact moment light engulfed the room. They both turned to see where it was coming from and a giant girl that looked incredibly similar to Jiro stood there.
“Oh, cool,” she said with a low voice, opening and closing her hands in silent awe, “it worked.”
For a second the entire class was silent, but everyone soon began talking excitedly. The new fusion stood there, proud of herself and confident in what she would do.
“I call dibs on fighting her!” Urappy was the first to rise her hand.
“Hey, you’re fighting me!” Twinge complained just in front of her, to what Urappy just smiled.
“Not for long!” And proceeded to jump into the air once again.
The room became bright in emotion at the new fusion, who presented herself as Jackie.
“I think I was right,” Todoroki said, and Izuku couldn’t help but smile.
“I would love to fight Jackie as Zero Gravity,” Izuku commented, looking at the ruckus being made in the center of the room. “She seems strong.”
“You haven’t seen her quirk,” Todoroki pointed out, looking at Jackie. She was starting to play around finding out what her own quirk was.
“Well, when you fuse…I think the least powerful thing is your quirk,” Izuku said in a low voice. He turned to look at Todoroki with a smile. “I think she’ll be amazing, just for being both Momo and Jiro together.”
“The least powerful thing?” Todoroki didn’t seem to understand what he was saying.
“Yeah, I mean,” Izuku continued, shifting his body weight so he was staring straight into Todoroki’s eyes, “it doesn’t really matter if you have an amazing quirk, if you can’t control it along with your partner. For example, Zero Gravity is difficult for me, because I’m not used to changing my own gravity. But Ochako helps me out when we do it. So, even if it’s complicated, if you have a partner willing to hear you out and follow the path your mind has, you find yourself moving easier.”
Todoroki was staring, and after his on rambles about Fusions, Deku couldn’t help blushing. He had done it again, talking an ear off from whoever was listening.
“Ah, sorry. I must have confused you more. I’m not that good at explaining,” Izuku tried to hide how nervous he was, which only caused him to get even more nervous.
“No, I think O understand,” Todoroki’s voice brought instant relief to Izuku. “It’s interesting how you see Fusion.”
“Interesting?” Izuku had never heard anyone call it that way. Ochako usually called it really boring, since to her it was more romantic. Izuku liked to think of it as something more than just romantic.
“I thought fusing was only about…making other kind of quirks, or make your quirk stronger,” Todoroki said, and something inside of Deku’s head clicked.
Of course.
The memory of the sport festival came vivid in his mind. The story about how Todoroki’s father had fused with his mother once and decided to have a kid based on how power drunk he had become in those fifteen minutes the fusion lasted. The repulsion his mother had at Fusion, and the bitter after taste that it left Todoroki whenever his father would come asking for her help to fuse.
‘Mom refused to fuse after that,’ Todoroki had said, ‘but that didn’t stop him from trying.’
That’s why Todoroki couldn’t fuse with Momo. Midoriya was actually incredibly impressed by how Todoroki was strong enough to even try.
“Fusion is everything but that,” Izuku said earnestly, reaching out so their hands were close by. “It’s about-…Connecting with others. The more you let the other see, an d the more they accept you, the stronger you become. Not because you have more power, but because you understands each other..and feel like you belong somewhere.”
Izuku was acutely aware of how Todoroki was intensely staring at him, and for some reason didn’t mind this time. Maybe because he wanted Todoroki to hear, and he knew he would.
“I know it sounds scary-“ Izuku began again, this time a pained look painted across his face, “but it’s not supposed to be scary. If it’s someone you trust, then it’s actually amazing. It feels like-…like…well. I don’t know how it feels. But they say it’s incredible.”
“I want to try it,” Todoroki said, suddenly, looking into Izuku’s eyes. “I want to try and fuse, Midoriya.”
“Ah, but Momo is-“ Izuku turned to call Momo, just to see that she was now fighting Urappy- who must have effectively defeated Twinge-.
“Not with Yaoyorozu, with you,” Todoroki’s hand was almost over Izuku’s, making Izuku run out of breath. “Can’t I?”
If Izuku wasn’t having trouble breathing, then he sure as fuck was now. There was no way he could say no to Todoroki when he was asking him that way.
“I’m-I’m not good at dancing,” he knew it was an excuse. Dancing was kind of an option when you were a pro, and other factors played a bigger role while fusing.
“That makes us two.” Todoroki offered him a hand, and Izuku sighed kindly at this, taking it. The both got up, both nervous, both a tiny bit scared.
“That’s a lie, I’ve seen you dance with Momo,” Izuku complained, but began stepping back and forth, slowly.
“Hum, I think you caught me.” Todoroki gave Izuku a mischevious smile, and Izuku would be angry if it weren’t for the thousands of butterflies flying in his stomach at the sight of Todoroki’s smile. “Relax, it’s okay.”
Deku did just as he was told, but found that he was still nervous. With Ochako it was easy to relax, but Todoroki…he was nervous for other reasons. He couldn’t help biting his lip, and meeting Todoroki’s eyes was so hard when he was trying not to explode.
“Watch out!” Urappy’s voice came rushing, and they turned just in time to see a giant boulder being thrown at them from the other side of the arena.
Quickly, Todoroki pulled from Izuku’s hand, running towards the opposite direction. It took Izuku’s a few moments to react, but as soon as he did, he also tried to run, not bothering to let go of Todoroki’s hand. It a mish mash of movements that followed, Izuku isn’t sure how but Todoroki ended up carrying him for a minute. It made him laugh.
“Okay, I’m not carrying you all the way to safety,” Todoroki commented, but the cheerful tone of his words were not passed by Deku. He let Deku down just enough for him to get up.
It was unconscious a this point, but they continued dancing. In an awkward, nonsensical way, that definitely looked weird to their classmates. But Izuku couldn’t care, he himself was laughing, and he could see a tiny smile in Todoroki’s face. Regardless if they managed to fuse or not, they were having fun.
Izuku then took both of Todoroki’s hands and held them close, slowly clasping them together, holding fingers. They were big enough to fit his own, and somehow they seemed the perfect size. Carefully, Izuku guided them to his shoulders, and walked forward.
They didn’t realize the glow that was forming around them.
This time was different than Ochako. He could feel Todoroki’s anxiety, his fear, his pain. It made Izuku unable to breathe, and he wondered if Momo managed to feel this, even for a second. But instead of backing away, Izuku reached towards Shoto, and in his most calm voice, he whispered.
“It’s okay,” Izuku could feel his pain, but it didn’t matter. He reached out, and held Todoroki even closer than before. He felt his own tears flowing down his cheeks, as Shouto went limp in his arms. “I’m here, you don’t have to worry. Relax. Everything will be fine.”
This seemed to be all Todoroki needed. Izuku felt his relief cursing through their own body. He felt complete.
And then, they opened their eyes.
The first thing he saw was Urappy, who stared at them with eyes wide like a frog. Then seconds later, proofing out of their fused form. Then Jackie, who had a hard to read facial expression. Finally, it landed on the rest of the class, who all looked at him with …Honestly he couldn’t tell what exactly they were looking at him with.
“Um, hey,” he managed to say, looking at the class. “What did I miss?”
“Oh, wow,” Jackie was the first to say something, “you two look…great together.”
Steam came out of his head at the comment.
“So, you are?” Jackie asked, and only then he tried to reach something. He began mumbling, all over until something popped.
“Shotodeku, I think?” He said out loud. Jackie laughed.
“Pick a decent name, you two” she smiled, and then crossed her arms. “But while you’re at it. Do you care joining me in a fight?”
A big bright smile formed in his lips.
“Sounds fun!”
A/N: Shotodeku is horrible at picking names. He'll find something...eventually. In regards of Shotodeku's quirk...let's just say it's not fair for someone to be so powerfulTwinge is Iida and Aoyama fusion. He is a sweetheart and I'll write him more
The USJ Attack
The Villain Month prompt is Past/Present/Future, but there isn’t enough focus on the canon villains for me to tag it as such. It’s still a part of my Villain!Izuku AU.
Read also on FF and AO3.
Everything was ready. Several low-level grunts were gathered in the basement. Izuku had double-checked everyone’s knowledge of the plan, including Uraraka’s secret mission. The special equipment he would need was assembled and in working order. Uraraka’s air-powered jets were fully functional. Kurogiri knew where to send everyone for the best results. Tomura was wearing the hands that covered his face and clung to his body. There wasn’t anything else to be done.
“It’s time,” Tomura said.
“Are you nervous?” asked Izuku.
“No. I’ve been waiting to do this for years.”
Izuku nodded. He should have known Tomura would feel that way.
The two brothers stepped through the portal to the USJ together. Even if he had wanted to, Izuku didn’t dare look back.
----------
The fight had already begun when they arrived. All according to Izuku’s plan.
Kurogiri had brought some of the low-level villains out first to prompt a response from the teachers and students. When they attacked, Kurogiri warped the students to various areas of the USJ according to each student’s quirk. The grunts whose quirks could be supported by the environment were then transported to the their own corresponding areas, with the remaining villains staying in the center to combat the pros.
Izuku noticed that several of the students remained huddled behind their teachers, not that far from the entrance. He expected that not all of the students would give Kurogiri a chance to warp them away, but he was somewhat surprised by how many were left. The few grunts he’d sent to keep them from escaping might not be enough.
Well, unexpected changes like that were part of the reason why Izuku insisted on coming himself. The other reason was more…. Personal.
“Kurogiri, you might want to send a few more people up to keep the students contained,” Izuku said. “Comet, you know your orders.”
Uraraka, who had walked through the portal just ahead of Izuku and Shigaraki, nodded. “Right. I’m on it!”
She touched her shoes and was soon zooming towards the Downpour zone.
Izuku turned to Tomura. “If you need me, I’ll be in the Landslide zone.”
“You don’t want to help destroy Eraserhead and All Might?” Tomura asked.
“I know I don’t have a chance against the pros. Maybe Eraserhead, since I’m not reliant on a quirk, but definitely not All Might.” Izuku heaved the large support item he’d brought over his shoulder. “Besides, that wasn’t part of the plan. I’ve got some business to take care of.”
With that, Izuku walked up to the Landslide zone and the demon from his past waiting there.
--------
Uraraka was on a mission. Well, two missions, but Izuku had provided a plan that let her complete both simultaneously.
“I know this is a lot, but you’re the only one who can do it without anyone noticing” Izuku said just a few days before the attack.
Deku was putting a lot of trust in her, and Uraraka didn’t want to let him down. She just hoped that her Quirk would hold up.
Her first stop was an enclosed dome filled with rain and lightning. A high-speed kick was enough to make a decent hole for her to enter through, and once she was through it was easy to find the students. The constant rain made it harder for her to see, but Izuku had told her to wear a waterproof jacket so it wouldn’t hinder her any more.
Uraraka released her quirk and touched down right behind a girl with long, black hair. The other student nearby -- a boy with 6 tentacle-like arms -- noticed her immediately.
“Yaoyorozu! Behind you!” he shouted.
Yaoyorozu turned around, a metal pole developing out of her arm, but Uraraka was quicker. A single grab of the girl’s forearm to activate zero-gravity and a quick toss to the ceiling, and Yaoyorozu was flying high towards the top of the dome. She may be able to move around up there by grabbing the supports of the dome, but she’ll be mostly out of commision.
Uraraka then did the same to the boy with tentacle arms.
“Hey! What are you doing?” Several low-level grunts walked up to her.
“Analyst’s orders,” Uraraka explained. She used Izuku’s code name both because these guys might not know his real name, and because she knew Izuku wanted to control who knew his real name. “Your missions are to contain any students in your area and be prepared to fight any pros that come to your area. Those students are now out of commision, so you can save your strength.”
The other villains grumbled, but Uraraka didn’t care. Now not only will the final battle have less potential interferences, but the students shouldn't get hurt.
She activated her quirk on herself and zoomed out of the dome. Her next stop was the Flood zone. It only had one student, a girl with a frog quirk who was holding her own against the water-based villains surprisingly well. Still, Uraraka was able to swoop down, pluck the girl out of the water, and throw her to the relative safety of the ceiling in zero-gravity.
The next zone was the Conflagration zone, another domed area, but it was filled with flames instead of stormy weather. Izuku had warned her that rising heat might mess with her ability to navigate using the air-powered thrusters, so she landed and walked through the door.
Instead of the constant fires she expected, the entire area was covered in a thick layer of ice. She could see the grunts sent to this zone frozen in place, trapped in ice up to their waists.
The only person still moving was a boy with half-red, half-white hair. He turned slightly towards Uraraka and sent a wave of ice cascading towards her.
She flew out of that place as fast as she could. That student could clearly take care of himself, and the others wouldn’t have any reason to complain if she avoided fighting such an overwhelming opponent.
The next place was the Mountain zone. There were two boys there: one with orange hair with hints of black, the other with a face like a rock. She remembered from Izuku’s analysis that the first had an electric quirk that could knock out anyone in such an enclosed area, and the second had a quirk that controls animals and might have an edge in this zone, assuming it was accurate to the environment. Well, Uraraka didn’t see any animals in the vicinity and any electric attack the other kid used would harm his friend as well, so that didn’t turn out as planned.
Still, this was what Uraraka was for, so she just made them float to safety.
As she raced off to the next zone, Uraraka had to fight off the growing sense of nausea. That’s five people I’m using my quirk on. Well, six if you count myself. In practice, I’ve been able to float ten objects at once without throwing up, but I haven’t used it on people very much. Just myself and Deku.
She hoped there weren’t many people in the ruins zone.
Uraraka flew right past the landslide zone, since Izuku was dealing with the only student there. She still didn’t understand what Katsuki Bakugo did to make Izuku hate him so much, but she hoped her friend would get some closure.
--------
Bakugo was fucking pissed.
Who the hell were these villains anyway? How did they get past UA’s security? What were they hoping to accomplish?
Whatever, it didn’t matter. Bakugo knew he could defeat them anyway. Or at least he would have, if that stupid mist guy hadn’t warped him away. Instead he was stuck on the edge of a steep slope, and there weren’t any villains nearby for him to beat up.
To make matters worse, the environment was hard for him to navigate. If he just walked down he was in constant danger of slipping on the loose dirt and falling without control. If he tried using his quirk to fly out of there, the dirt it would kick up stung his eyes. He’d already tried that, and his eyes still hurt.
Still, he was able to make it down to a flat area closer to ground level. He looked over the side and realized he still had a long way to go, but at least it was progress.
“Stupid shitty villains,” Bakugo muttered, walking over to a slope with more footholds off to his right. “Who do those fuckers think they are attacking a hero school? Especially the one All Might is teaching at?”
“Oh Kachan, you never change.”
Bakugo spun around. “Who’s there?”
Maniacal laughter came up from farther down the mountain. It was a plain-looking villain -- well, boy, he couldn’t be older than Bakugo himself -- holding a large metal plate, larger than the villain’s torso. Something about the villain’s green hair and freckled face were familiar, but Bakugo couldn’t place it.
Didn’t matter anyway. He was an intruder, a villain, so Bakugo was gonna stomp him.
“DIE!!!” Bakugo jumped, aiming straight for the villain, hands raised to fire his ultimate explosion right in the fucker’s smug face. He didn’t even consider how he would land. That would be future Bakugo’s problem.
BOOM!!!!!
Bakugo was flying, rocketing, and suddenly SLAMMED into the sloped ground. The dust cloud blanketed everything, stinging his eyes and lungs and making him slide several feet. Even when he stopped sliding, Bakugo couldn’t stand up without coughing up a lung.
He rubbed his eyes, confident that the dust had settled enough so he could see. It only took a second for Bakugo to realize he was in a worse position than before.
Instead of harming the villain, the blast had rocketed Bakugo back farther up the mountain. The villain wasn’t even fazed, just smirking and waving the metal plate around.
“Are you confused, Kachan?”
Bakugo growled. “What the FUCK did you call me??!!” Seriously, why would he call me that? Nobody’s called me Kachan since I was seven years old.
The villain just continued to laugh. “You see, I chose this environment specifically to counter your quirk. Any explosions you create are likely to stir up the loose dust from the landslide, impairing your vision and overall fighting ability. The slope will also make it difficult for you to maneuver on the ground, since stable footing isn’t guaranteed. And on the off chance that you could get a hit in, well, I brought this,” he waved the metal plate again. “It’s made to the same specifications as blast shields and the body shells of armored cars. It’s more than enough to protect me from your explosions. I also have the advantage of maneuverability, since my mountain-climbing boots provide plenty of traction even in this kind of environment. Face it, Kachan. In this case, you’re outclassed."
Bakugo stared at the villain. He just stood there, dumbfounded, for nearly a minute. He could see the villain get confused and climb up to meet him, but Bakugo just stood there, thinking.
Once he figured it out, Bakugo broke out laughing. “Hey villain! You don’t watch a lot of movies, do you?”
“Huh?”
“After the villain has explained their plan to the hero, they always loose.”
Bakugo jumped again, higher, more focused on gaining distance from the ground than aiming for a specific point. If I’m at a disadvantage on the ground, then I’ll just focus on attacking from the air. Once he was high enough, Bakugo set off a couple of explosions to propel him forward.
“What…” The villain was dumbfounded.
Bakugo continued to fly over the villain’s head, then set off another explosion to change directions, shooting him directly at the villain’s unprotected back. That blast shield can only protect him from one side. Plus, it’s heavy, so he can’t move that fast. He was only able to counter my last attack because he saw it coming and already had his shield prepared. But an attack from behind…
“No…” The villain must have figured out Bakugo’s plan. He turned around, trying to drag the blast shield along.
Too slow, dipshit.
Bakugo reached the villain, but didn’t set off an explosion right away. Instead, he grabbed the villains’s left arm -- the one holding the shield -- and made an explosion over the other shoulder, directly into the blast shield.
BOOM!!!!!
The explosion sent Bakugo flying back again, but this time he was prepared. He covered his mouth, nose, and eyes with his arms and curled up so he’d roll down the mountain to a controlled stop. At some point he lost his hold on the villain, but he knew his hold lasted long enough to drag the villain away from the shield, which was his objective.
Bakugo found his footing and stood up, surveying the area again. The dust cloud had mostly gone down now, and the shield was hanging uselessly off a ledge at least 5 meters above his head. The villain, on the other hand, had fallen down the slope with Bakugo and was now kneeling about a foot away, coughing.
He didn’t give the villain a chance to recover. Bakugo grabbed the villain’s arm again and tackled him to the ground.
“Give it up, stupid fucker,” Bakugo growled.
The villain got his bearings, and grabbed something off his belt with his right hand.
Bakugo didn’t take the chance, he just knocked the object away, farther down the slope.
“You’re beaten, dumbass. Now, are you going to tell me what you’re trying to pull already?"
The villain’s eyes were watery, probably from all the dust. “Why does it have to be you, Kachan? You don’t deserve to be a hero.”
There he goes again with the childhood nickname. “Why do you keep calling me that? Kachan was a stupid childhood nickname.”
The villain didn’t answer the question. “You’re a bully, Kachan. There’s no way a bully like you could be a hero.”
“Who are you calling a bully, you piece of shit!” Bakugo grabbed villain by its shoulders and started shaking. “You’ve got some nerve, breaking in here…”
Bakugo froze.
He’d pulled down the villain’s shirt by a few inches, revealing a tiny, faded scar on his opponent's left shoulder. It wasn’t much, and he wouldn’t have noticed it if he wasn’t so close, but he recognized the star shape. He’d found out what could make that scar the first time he used his quirk on a classmate during elementary school. It was the reason he didn’t use his quirk on people unless they really pissed him off.
Before getting into UA and meeting bastards like Icy Hot and Foureyes, there’d only been one person who’d ever frustrated him enough to use his quirk on them. That person was one of the few people to call him Kachan, and had mysteriously disappeared about eight years ago.
A childish hand offering help where it wasn’t needed. A notebook labeled “Hero Analysis for the future.” A freckled face looking at him in admiration, then fear. A green-haired woman sobbing into mom’s shoulder.
“Deku?”
---------
Izuku was fucked. He knew it, and he had nobody to blame but himself. He should have realized that Kachan would have figured out other ways to use his quirk. This was why he asked Tomura to hold off until after the Sports Festival, so he could get a feel for the student’s fighting styles. All his preparation, the special equipment he got specifically for this, the careful strategizing and planning in the dead of night, all of it was for naught. He was about to get his face blown off by his former childhood friend, and there was nothing he could do.
Bakugo froze, staring at Izuku’s face in shock. “Deku?”
Deku must be what they call someone who’s useless. Useless, quirkless, Deku!
Izuku’s rage returned. “Don’t call me that!”
Bakugo had sat up to stare, so all Izuku had to do to get away was twist his hips and throw the other boy off balance. Izuku crawled away to another patch of stable ground. Only then did he dare to stand up and look back.
Bakugo was slow in getting back up. “Izuku… Is that really you? You’re alive?”
“Yes, I’m alive, but I’m not the ‘useless Deku’ you once knew. That Deku is gone, I’m the vengeful ghost from your past left in his place.”
Bakugo was still staring, blinking stupidly. Out of the corner of his eye, Izuku noticed the gun laying a few feet further down the slope. He rushed to retrieve it. Not only was it his only weapon left, but Sensei would lecture him if he lost it. He might not even get a new one.
Izuku picked up the gun, dusted off the dirt, and made sure it was in working order. He racked the side and an intact bullet fell out. Good, it’s not damaged.
Izuku turned back to Bakugo, who was now scowling.
“What the FUCK is a SHITTY, QUIRKLESS NERD LIKE YOU DOING AS A VILLAIN?”
Izuku looked down. “I don’t have to explain myself to you, Kachan.” I did what I had to, living with Sensei.
Bakugo looked like he was about to say something else, but a booming voice rang out over the entire USJ.
“Never fear, for I am here!”
Izuku sucked in a breath. “All Might.” He’s here. Tomura might actually succeed in killing him. Izuku wasn’t sure how he felt about that.
Bakugo smirked. “Hell yeah, All Might is here. You and your villain friends are fucked, Deku. But you should know that better than anyone. You were more of an All Might fanboy than I was, back in the day.”
“That was a long time ago.” If only that were true.
Bakugo rolled his eyes. “Whatever, nerd. I’ve got bigger fish to fry. I’ll be back to beat some sense into you once I’ve finished helping All Might take out the big bad.” He jumped in the air and propelled himself out the the Landslide zone before Izuku could stop him.
“Wait! We’re not done here!” Izuku shouted, but Bakugo was already long gone.
Shit, he realized. Bakugo will mess up Tomura’s big moment, and it'll be my fault.
Izuku got ready to run off and salvage the situation on foot, but a familiar voice called out from above.
“Deku!” Uraraka was zooming straight for him.
Izuku breathed a sigh of relief. “It’s Analyst in the field, Comet.”
Uraraka stopped a few feet away from him. “Aw shoot, sorry!”
“It’s fine, at least you didn’t use my real name.” Izuku said. “Think you can give me a lift? My opponent got away.”
“Seriously? After all your training and prep? That’s got to suck.” Uraraka reached out her hand to grab his, but her face turned green.
Before she could touch him, Uraraka turned away and threw up.
She overused her quirk. “Never mind, give yourself a break. You’ve pushed yourself too hard already. I shouldn’t have asked you to save all the students.”
“No, no, I can handle this, just give me a second.” Uraraka landed next to Izuku and wiped her mouth with the back of her hand. She must have released herself fro zero-gravity to get her bearings.
“Do you think you could hit me real quick? I’ll get an aerial view and see if any of the students are in a position where you can release them. I can’t see inside the Conflagration zone or the Downpour zone, but you’ll feel better if you can release just one person.”
Uraraka nodded. “Use the weighted line, I’m not sure I’d be able to catch you right now.”
Izuku nodded, pulling out the requested line. It had a small hook tied at one end, similar to the ones used in securing tents. He drove the hook into the ground, securing it. She must be more overextended than she wants to admit.
Uraraka grabbed his arm and threw him up in the air. They’d done this maneuver thousands of times in practice, both so Uraraka could get used to using her quirk constantly, and to test out methods of using zero-gravity to their advantage. They were perfectly in sink at this point.
“The two people in the Downpour zone where the guy with six arms and a girl called Yaoyorozu. If you see either of them up and about, let me know,” Uraraka said.
“There is a possibility they got out. Yayorozu’s Quirk is to create things from her own body.”
“Huh. Oh, and don’t worry about the Fire zone. The only person there had a powerful ice quirk, and I did NOT want to mess with him.”
Must be Endeavour's son. That was probably a good choice, and I doubt Tomura will blame her if he gets to see that guy’s power, Izuku thought.
Izuku floated up to the ceiling about 10 meters, which was the length of the rope. The tension in the rope caused him to start slowly float downwards. He could see the entire USJ from this height. Over near the entranceway, he saw 7 students huddled together around the critically injured pro Thirteen. They were worse for wear, but at least they hadn’t made themselves enough of a nuisance for the grunts to injure them. In the Ruins zone, three students -- Acid girl (Mina), Dark Shadow (Tokoyami), and Hardening (Kirishima) -- were floating in the air. Before his very eyes, Dark Shadow shot out and grabbed first his classmates, then a nearby building they could all cling to. They were far enough away from the grunts that so long as they remained hidden, they would be fine.
Well, there’s three people Uraraka can release.
He turned to the left and checked the students in the Mountain Zone. Both Denki and Koda where floating close to the ceiling, but he noticed two other people not that far off. He recognized them as Yayourozu and Shoji, the two from the Downpour Zone. They must have gotten out somehow and had floated across the building. No, not floated: Yauyorozu had a grappling hook. She must have created it so she and her classmates could get around. Both she and Shoji were reaching out to grab Denki and Koda.
Those Four will be fine, so long as they stick together. Yaoyorozu’s quirk really is amazing.
Outside the Conflagration zone, a large mountain of ice was running to the Central Plaza.
The Todoroki. Yeah, he can take care of himself.
The last zone remaining was the Flood Zone, and Izuku only saw Asui there. On top of that, the girl had used her frog-like tongue to cling to the boat in the middle of the water.
The UA students this year are really resourceful. Okay, it looks like Uraraka can release everyone, that’s three...seven...eight...Kachan and Todoroki are in the center, that makes ten…the rest are by the entrance… Wait, how many are there?
Izuku counted all the students again. A third time. Despite still being in zero gravity, a weight settled in his chest.
There’s only 17 students here. There were 20 at the beginning of the year, but Aizawa expelled one on the first day, and another dropped out a few days later. But that still leaves one. Is it the invisible girl? No, I can see her gloves by the entranceway huddle…
He ran through the student’s quirks in his head, trying to find the one that was missing. When he did, the situation became clear.
The Iida boy. Engine. If his quirk is half as good as his brother’s it’ll take no time for him to get help. The success of this mission is entirely dependant on limiting the number of pros we need to fight. We need to abort.
Izuku grabbed the line and pulled himself down to the ground. On the way, he noticed Yaoyorozu was pulling the three students near her to the ground as well.
Once he was only a foot or two above the ground, Uraraka released him from her quirk. “What did you find?”
“You can release all the students, they’re surprisingly resourceful and shouldn’t fall too far. But more importantly, one of the students got away and is undoubtedly bringing help.”
Uraraka’s eyes widened. She touched her fingertips, releasing everyone she’d used her quirk on, then grabbed Izuku’s arm. “I’ll get you to Shigaraki. He won’t want to abandon the mission, but he will if you tell him to.”
Izuku nodded. “Alright, let’s go.”
Uraraka turned on her thrusters, and the two rocketed towards the central plaza. They landed right beside Tomura, who was watching the Nomu’s fight with All Might gleefully. All Might had the Nomu pinned, but one of Kurogiri’s gates allowed the Nomu to squeeze on the hero’s torso. Red blossomed from All Might’s left side, opening an old wound.
That’s where Sensei hit him six years ago, Izuku realized.
Slowly, the Nomu pulled All might through the gate. Izuku recognized this as one of the techniques he’d discussed with Tomura and Kurogiri that may be able to kill someone as powerful as All Might.
Something in Izuku’s gut twisted at the sight. This is good, right? Tomura is getting what he wants. Besides, it’s not like the world is lacking in heroes… Still, a small, childish voice in the back of Izuku’s head protested.
BOOM!!!!!
A flash of red and yellow attacked Kurogiri, right in the metal collar around his neck. When the dust cleared, Izuku recognized him as Kachan.
“Let go of All Might, you damn villain!” Bakugo said.
When Izuku saw his former bully attacking Kurogiri, he forgot about everything else. The plan, Shigaraki, All Might, the other students, all other thoughts left his mind. All he felt was his intense hatred of the other boy.
He lifted up his gun and shot. The bullet hit Bakugo in the arm, forcing him to recoil and release Kurogiri. He clutched his arm in pain, staring at Izuku in shock.
“Get away from Kurogiri or the next one will go in your skull!” Izuku shouted.
Bakugo’s face twisted into a snarl. “You’ve really become a villain, haven’t you Deku?”
“It’s as you said when we were kids, Kachan. I can’t become a hero. But I’ll do everything I can to make sure you don’t get to become one either.”
“What the -- What kind of logic is that?” Bakugo was walking towards Izuku. “The Izuku Midoriya I knew wouldn’t have said something so ridiculous.”
Izuku kept his gun pointed as Bakugo, though he couldn’t stop his hands from shaking. “Well, I’m not the Izuku Midoriya you knew. I’ve changed; that’s what eight years can do to a person.”
Bakugo stopped barely a foot away from Izuku. “You know, your mom hasn’t changed much. She’s still holding out on the hope that you’ll come home.”
“M-Mom?” Izuku couldn’t breath. “Is she -- Is she alright?”
“Everyone thinks her only kid is dead, dumbass! How do you think she’s doing? Why the FUCK haven’t you come home already?”
Izuku turned away. How could he possibly explain to Kachan what was going on? “You don’t understand. You could never understand.”
“Try me, Dumbass.”
Suddenly, Tomura cut in and lunged at Bakugo. “You messed up my chance to kill All Might!”
Bakugo reflexively jumped back, using his explosions to get more distance. He was far out of Tomura’s reach in seconds.
Tomura turned to Izuku. “What the hell happened to the plan, Analyst? First this kid comes in and distracts Kurogiri right when he’s about to slice All Might in half, then that cryokinetic kid freezes half the Nomu so he has to waste time and regenerate. I thought your plan was supposed to prevent the students from interfering in my fight!”
“There were some complications,” Izuku explained. He then remembered why he’d originally sought out Tomura for. “Speaking of complications, one of the students managed to get out. He’s surely getting backup. We need to abort the mission and get away while we still can.”
“Abort the mission? Run away? When I’m so close to beating the final boss?” Tomura said. “No way, this was your mistake, but I’m still going to be able to salvage it.”
Izuku opened his mouth to rebuke Tomura, but before he got a word out a bullet few by and hit the Nemu.
“Shit, it’s Snipe!” Izuku grabbed Tomura’s arm and turned, looking for his other allies. “Kurogiri! We need to get out!”
Kurogiri materialized next to Izuku. “We need to retreat, Tomura Shigaraki.”
“No way!” Tomuar was throwing another tantrum. “The final Boss is right there! I’m gonna clear the level.”
Izuku knew better than to argue with Tomura when he was in this state. He just shoved the older boy towards Kurogiri, who was opening another Warp gate. “Comet! It’s time to go!”
Uraraka zoomed his way, not even bothering to stop on her way to the portal. She just flew through the warp gate.
Izuku prepared to step through the gate as well, but a familiar voice stopped him.
“Deku!”
Izuku turned to look at Bakugo. He was standing quite a ways away, and wasn’t attacking in any way. He was just shouting desperately, clutching his injured arm.
“You still haven’t explained anything, Deku!”
Izuku couldn’t help but laugh. Sure, things didn’t go as planned. Sure, Tomura wasn’t happy. Sure, none of their official objectives were met. But at least Izuku got to mess with Bakugo’s head.
Izuku gave his childhood bully a little wave. “I’ll see you later, Kachan.”
And with that, he walked through the warp gate and disappeared.
“Are you ready for this?”
Everyone else in the room looked at Izuku. None of their faces showed even a hint of hesitation.
“I’m beyond ready for this,” Dabi said.
“Let’s see some blood!” Toga cheered.
“We’re continuing Stain’s work,” Spinner said.
“I’m sure everything will go smoothly, Deku.” Uraraka encouraged.
Izuku nodded. It was the big day. He’d been planning this for weeks. Nothing could go wrong, he’d planned for every eventuality. Even if they wouldn’t complete their true objective, at least they’d spread their message with the world.
“Let’s go. It’s time for the Quirk Revolutionaries’ debut.”
---------------
Today was not a good day in Endevor’s opinion. He’d been pulled out of his usual area to patrol in Hosu, since the police had received an anonymous tip that an escaped convict would be here. That wouldn’t have been a problem, except the convict didn't actually show up. Clearly, someone was sending the Hosu police department on a wild goose chase and they’d dragged the #1 hero along for the ride.
Around 5:00 in the afternoon, Endeavor started walking back to the police station to tell them how much of a waste of time this was. A few blocks away, he noticed a group of people standing on top of a 3-story building. He thought they were odd, but wouldn’t have given them a second thought if it weren’t for the words they shouted once he was right in front of them.
“Well, if it isn’t Endeavour, the #1 fake!”
Endeavour had heard insults like that before. After all, he wasn’t known for being the most well-liked hero. Usually he would just ignore them and walk away, but today he was in a bad mood.
Endeavour looked up and shouted back, “Who are you calling a fake??!!”
Although nobody could see it, the hooded person in front -- a short teenage boy -- smirked. His target had taken the bait.
“You, of course,” the boy replied. “Hero society is made up of fakes, but you are the biggest fake of them all. You are the farthest thing from a true hero, Enji Todoroki.”
Endeavour clenched his fists. What do these people know about being a hero?
Behind him, a crowd of onlookers were starting to gather.
“What makes me a fake? You have no idea what it takes to be a hero!” Endeavour demanded.
“A true hero wouldn’t need to be paid to save people,” the boy replied. “They would prioritize the victims over fame and glory. They wouldn’t be concerned with their legacy at the expense of others. They would actually have morals and act on them!”
Enji froze. "They wouldn’t be concerned with their legacy at the expense of others." Do they know something about Shoto?
He buried that thought. He could worry about his family secrets later. Though, that whole “fake heroes” thing sounded familiar…
Endeavour smirked. “I see now. You’re idealists who follow that villain Stain’s philosophy.” He should have realized it earlier. After all, he was in the same area he’d originally caught the villain.
The boy just laughed. “We are more than just followers of Stain’s philosophy. We are the inheritors of his mission!”
Suddenly, the boy tossed back his hood and let the whole hoodie fall to the ground behind him, allowing Endeavour and the crowd to see his face for the first time. His companions also came forward, so everyone could see them easily.
The leader couldn’t be any older than Shoto. His green hair gave no hint to what his quirk was, and neither did any of his clothes. He was wearing a white dress shirt, a black vest, dress pants, and a green tie. The only thing about his dress that couldn’t be explained as simply professional clothes were the back leather gloves on his hands and a sidearm attached to his belt. The rest of his companions were mostly nondescript, with one or two things about them that stood out.
One girl with a brown bob-cut had some metallic contraption attached to her pants and shoes. Another was a blond girl had a mouth mask and a large needle connected to a tube. There was a lizard man with an eye mask like Stain’s. The one who was probably the oldest of these delinquents had burn scars covering most of his body, stapled to what little normal skin he had left.
The green-haired boy spread his arms wide. “Allow me to introduce myself. I am Analyst, and we are The Quirk Revolutionaries!”
Bit dramatic, aren’t you kid? Endeavour thought.
Analyst let his arms fall to his side. “And now, for our debut, we shall destroy the king of fakes, Endeavour himself. Comet, you’re up.”
The brunette nodded. “Right.” She leaned down to touch her shoes, and jumped.
Before anyone could consider catching her from what would be a nasty fall, air shot out of her shoes and propelled her straight towards Endeavour. She’d kicked him in the face before he realized he was being attacked.
The crowd screamed and started running away. There were a few who started recording the fight, but they all made sure they were a safe distance away. Several patrol cars had noticed the disturbance and were setting up a perimeter. Overall, it was your typical reaction to a hero vs. villain fight.
Endeavour prepared himself to attack the flying girl, but before he could a blue-hot-hot-not-his flame erupted on his left side. When he looked at where it was coming from, the scarred man was standing on the edge of the roof with a blue flame in his hand.
The blond girl clapped her hands. “Good shot, Dabi!”
“Toga,” Analyst said, “Did you forget your mission?”
“Oh! Right!” Toga made a quick salute and started running off to the side.
Before Endeavour could wonder what that was about, he felt a high-speed slap from the flying girl. He tried to shoot a fire blast at her, but instead it sent him flying in the opposite direction, straight into another building.
The flying girl -- Endeavour had to assume she was the one called Comet -- hovered in the air in front of him. “Fighting in zero gravity is pretty hard, isn’t it?”
She touched her fingertips together and Endeavour slumped down. He hadn't realized his feet weren't touching the ground until he fell. The impact from the building hurt like hell, but he’d endured worse. He started to get up.
Comet looked back at her leader. “Dek- Analyst! He’s in position.”
Analyst nodded from his position on the opposite building. He pulled out the gun and got into a standard two-hand shooting position.
He wasn’t aiming at Endeavor though. He was aiming at the water tank on top of the building Endeavour was leaning against.
Bang!!!
The bullet hit its mark, shooting a hole in the water tank. Water started to pour out, the pressure letting it shoot out over the lip of the edge of the roof and directly on top of Endeavour.
Shit, he thought. This must have been their plan all along.
Endeavour wasn’t exactly weak against water; he was able to get it off him with enough effort, but the fact is setting fire on a wet surface doesn’t work well. He won’t be able to use his flames much until he’s boiled most of the water off his body.
He tried to get out from the man-made waterfall, but before he could a knife pinned him to the building.
A lizard-like face entered Endeavour's field of vision. “You’re not getting away, fake hero!”
With the water constantly pouring on Enji’s head and a knife pinning him, Enji couldn’t do anything against the villains in front of him. He could only watch as Analyst and Dabi climbed down the building through the fire escape and gathered around him with Comet and the lizard-man.
“Good job, Comet, Spinner.” Analyst turned to Dabi and handed the gun to him. “I know you have a specific grudge against Endeavour. Would you like to do the honors, Dabi?”
Dabi took the gun, but seemed a little confused. He aimed it somewhat in Endeavour's direction, but wasn't able to line it up. He probably had never held a gun before in his life.
“Line the three dots up, the center one with where you want to aim,” Analyst guided his teammate. “I’d recommend emptying the clip in his chest. It’s a larger area, so you don’t have to be accurate. He’ll bleed out in minutes and will be in pain most of the time.”
Dabi nodded and lined up the gun with his right hand. “Goodby, Enji Todoroki.”
Bang!!
Red-sharp pain exploded in Enji’s right shoulder. Blood poured out of the hole as fast as the water was raining down on him. It wasn’t lethal yet, but the shooter had more bullets.
Dabi lined up again, aiming slightly lower and to Enji’s left, but before he could pull the trigger someone else shouted and got their attention.
“Get away from him, Villains!”
“Shit, it’s Gang Orca,” Analyst swore.
“Is that bad?” Comet asked.
“He gets stronger in the water,” Analyst said. He thought for half a second and ordered, “Retreat. We’ve done all we can for now.”
Dabi didn’t look happy, but handed the gun back to Analyst. All of them scattered and ran in different directions, sneaking between the buildings so they couldn’t be followed easily.
“Spread out!” Gang Orca ordered his sidekicks and the police on site. “They can’t have gotten far!”
A paramedic ran up to Enji and started tending to his wounds. Despite his best efforts, Enji couldn’t stay awake and quickly lost consciousness due to blood loss.
Unbeknownst to any of the heroes, the four villains they’d seen fleeing the scene each grabbed nondescript hoodies from where they’d been stashed earlier. They quickly vanished into the crowd. In addition, one of the police officers who was seen chasing after the villains was actually lying unconscious next to his car, a needle puncture in his side.
----------
Uraraka groaned. “I can’t believe we screwed that up! You worked so hard on the plan Deku!”
Izuku just shrugged. “I didn’t anticipate Gang Orca being in the area. I’ll need to check what heroes will be nearby in the future.” he looked up from his laptop. “Toga, did you get a lot of blood?”
“Yep!” Toga said. “Mostly police officers, but I got a few civilians as well! I wish I could have gotten a hero though…”
Izuku smiled. “That’s fine. I don’t anticipate you'll need to impersonate a hero anytime soon.”
Dabi scratched the back of his head. “Sorry I couldn’t finish the job guys.”
Izuku shook his head. “It’s fine, Dabi. If anything, it’s my fault for putting you on the spot without showing you how to shoot first. I’ll make sure to do so before we go after Endeavour again.”
Spinner looked at izuku carefully. “You don’t seem very disappointed. Considering how passionate you were about our debut going just right, I’d assume you’d be devastated we didn’t complete our goal.”
“I’m disappointed we didn’t kill Endeavour, yes. But, we did still complete several of our goals. For one thing, Toga has several more people she can turn into. For another, we've proven that Endeavor CAN be beaten. Even if we don’t get to finish the job, there’s no way hero society will be able to rely on him again. And finally, we got our name out there.”
Izuku turned his laptop around and showed them the news feed. The headline was “New Villain Group Appears! The Quirk Revolutionaries: Anarchists or Genuine Reformers?” followed by “Endeavour in Critical Condition! Will the #1 Hero be Back to Work Soon?”
Uraraka looked up at Izuku. “You wanted us to make an impression.”
Izuku nodded. “As much as I admire Stain, his one mistake was waiting until he was a martyr to share his ideals. Nobody truly understood what he was doing, so he wasn’t able to force real change. But now that we’ve proven both our ideals and our resolve, people can actually be inspired by us.”
As he said this, Izuku felt his phone vibrate. He pulled it out and saw it was a text message from a certain person he’d met at the UA Sports Festival:
Shoto: I saw what you and your allies did. I want to help you, especially if you’re going to take down my father again. Can we meet in person?
Izuku smirked. Looks like I we have our first new recruit.
Me, trying to bullshit y'all: Izuku's clothes are like that because he always saw All For One in formal clothes so he associates them with power, but he wanted to add his own touch to prove he was his own man, so the tie is green like his eyes and hair and he's got slick gloves because he's very hands-on and... and... and...
Reality: Most of my favorite Villain!Deku fanart has him wearing a black vest and gloves. It makes him look so cool.
