My Sunshine Girl: A Healing Home
Tumblr media
Masterlist❤️Previous Part
Summary: Having Benny around changes things for the better.
Themes: Family drama, underlying grief, and finding comfort in your favorite person
A/n: I didn't realize I was writing in first person and by the time I noticed I was already too deep in the process 🤷‍♀️LMK if you wanna be part of a taglist for this series, or for all my works!!
The weeks following the fight at the bar were a blur of quiet days and slow healing. Benny had told me to stay home until the bruises and scrapes faded, though he never really explained why I needed to lay low or how he planned to smooth things over with the cops. I didn’t press him on it. I trusted him enough to just listen, even if the silence that came with being cooped up sometimes felt too heavy to bear.
I called my uncle to let him know I was taking a few weeks off, spinning some story about needing to clear out the attic and sort through old boxes that had been collecting dust since my childhood. It wasn’t a lie, exactly; the attic had been long overdue for a cleanout. But what I hadn’t expected was how many old memories would come flooding back during those quiet weeks at home.
Some days, the house felt haunted by the past—pictures of my mom tucked away in forgotten corners, trinkets from a time when life felt simpler. I’d find my old pookie bear, the one my ma had made me, and all at once, the grief would hit me hard, like no time had passed at all. I’d crumble under the weight of it, tears streaming down my face, and Benny would be right there, no questions asked. He didn’t pry when I broke down, didn’t push for explanations. He just wrapped his arms around me, letting me cry it out until the storm passed.
He was my buffer, my anchor, the one constant in a sea of emotions I wasn’t always prepared to deal with. And even on the hardest days, he made it easier just by being there.
But it wasn’t all sadness. Sometimes, between the dusting and sorting, we’d stumble onto something that would break the tension and remind me that joy still had a place in this old house. Like the day Benny found my middle school diary—tucked away in a box of yearbooks and scribbled notes, full of awkward confessions and childhood crushes. I was mortified, scrambling to snatch it out of his hands as he held it above his head, flipping through the pages with a devilish grin.
“Number one: Mr. O’Connell, your eighth-grade math teacher? Really?” Benny read aloud, his tone dripping with mock horror as I jumped, trying and failing to grab the diary back.
“Oh my god, Benny, stop!” I begged, my face burning as I reached up, but he just laughed, lifting the diary higher, making a game out of it.
“You had a thing for math, huh? Or just guys with glasses?”
I groaned, mortified but unable to keep the smile off my face. “Give it back! I swear, I’ll—”
Benny kept reading, amused at my futile attempts. I shoved a nearby box over, using it as a makeshift step stool, only for it to collapse under me, sending me tumbling to the floor. The crash echoed through the attic, and for a second, everything went silent before Benny’s laughter broke the tension, deep and infectious.
I looked up, sprawled on the floor, and started laughing too, the kind of uncontrollable, belly-aching laughter that leaves you breathless and teary-eyed for all the right reasons. I couldn’t remember the last time I’d laughed like that in this house.
We spent the rest of the day making new memories, each corner of the attic becoming less about the past and more about the here and now. Benny helped me pack away the old pain and fill the empty spaces with something lighter, something new. The house felt different by the end of those weeks, less like a museum of all the hurt I’d carried and more like a home that was ours.
Every time I looked at a corner that used to be filled with sadness, I felt gratitude instead—a quiet, blooming joy that wrapped itself around my heart. I wasn’t forgetting my mom or the pain we’d both gone through, but I was finding a way to make room for happiness too.
The midday sun streamed through the kitchen window, casting warm, golden light across the countertops as I moved around the stove. The smell of homemade tomato soup filled the air, mingling with the buttery aroma of the grilled cheese I was making for lunch. I knew Benny was supposed to be out the door over an hour ago, but here he was, his arms snug around my waist and his head resting comfortably on my shoulder. I could feel the soft, steady rhythm of his breathing against my back, his presence grounding me in a way that made the entire world feel right.
“Weren’t you supposed to leave an hour ago?” I whispered with a giggle as he kissed the sensitive spot on my neck, his lips lingering just long enough to make my skin tingle.
Benny hummed, his voice low and lazy, full of that warmth that always sent shivers down my spine. “You’re holding me hostage,” he murmured, nuzzling into my neck like he had all the time in the world.
I scoffed, flipping the sandwich in the pan, the bread sizzling as it turned a perfect golden brown. “I hope that’s not what you’re tellin’ the boys,” I teased, trying to keep the smile off my face as his kisses grew more persistent, more playful.
“They’d believe it,” he said, his lips brushing against my skin as he grinned. “You were a sight of fear for them that night.”
I nudged him gently, still caught off guard by the way he made me feel so seen, so known. “No way they fear me,” I said, laughing at the absurdity of it. The idea of those big, greasy, tattooed men being scared of someone like me was ridiculous. I was a lot of things, but intimidating wasn’t one of them—not to them, at least.
Benny chuckled softly, his voice a warm rumble that I felt all the way to my bones. “You were a force,” he said, and I could hear the pride mixed with amusement in his tone. “Five women tried to pull you off, and you broke through them—teeth, nails, and limbs flying everywhere. Like a little monkey.”
I gasped, feigning offense as I pushed him back playfully, though his hold on me didn’t loosen. “Rude!” I scolded, my cheeks warming as I turned the sandwich again, trying to focus on the task at hand despite the way his words made my heart race.
Benny laughed, the sound deep and peaceful, wrapping around me like a favorite song. “I never want to think about that night ever again,” I sighed, shaking my head at the memory. I’d gone to the bar looking for some fun, but it had turned into anything but that. “Eat your grilled cheese and leave me alone, Benny Cross. You’ve made enough rude comments for one day.”
He dipped lower, his lips brushing my cheek, then my jaw, peppering soft kisses along my skin until I was practically squirming from the attention. “I’m waiting,” he murmured, his voice smooth as honey, and I knew he was enjoying every second of this.
“Your plate was already made,” I said, my tone dripping with disbelief as I tried to keep my composure. I pointed to the counter where his sandwich and soup were sitting, perfectly plated and ready to eat. “Right there.”
“For you,” he whispered against my ear, his hands roaming my sides in a slow, soft caress that sent jolts of pleasure through me. He was relentless, every touch deliberate, every kiss a gentle tease that made it hard to think straight.
I bit down on the wave of heat that spread through me, refusing to give in completely. “If I hear someone make a comment about me keepin’ you hostage the next time I’m at the bar, I swear I’m chucking an 8-ball at ‘em,” I warned, trying to sound stern, but my voice came out breathless, betraying the effect he had on me.
Benny grinned, his lips brushing my ear as he whispered, “Let ‘em talk, Sunshine. You’ve got nothing to prove.” His hands continued their slow exploration, skimming over my hips and up my back, a mix of comfort and desire that made my knees weak. “Besides, I like being held hostage by you.”
I couldn’t help but laugh, the sound light and free, bubbling up from somewhere deep inside me. “Yeah, well, you better behave,” I said, turning just enough to look at him, catching the mischievous glint in his eyes. “Or I might just let you go.”
He pulled me closer, his grip firm but tender, holding me in place as he looked down at me with that lazy, cocky smile I’d grown to love. “You couldn’t get rid of me if you tried,” he said, his voice low and rough, filled with something deeper than just teasing. “I’m right where I wanna be.”
I leaned into him, letting the warmth of his body and the comfort of his words wrap around me like a blanket. His stubble tickled along my neck with each kiss he placed. I shivered and inched away from him with a giggle, "At least let me finish plating my dish."
He grumbled as he stepped away, grabbed his plate, and moved to sit at the table. I glanced over my shoulder and found him staring intently at me, his eyes dark and.. "Oh my gosh, Benny, are you pouting??" I squealed, "I'm so telling-"
My teasing quietened as a rapid knock broke our moment. The knock wasn’t just loud—it was aggressive, rattling the walls with an urgency that made my heart jump. Benny stood up from the table, his easy smile fading as the tension in the air thickened. I watched as he walked to the door, his shoulders squared and ready for whatever trouble was waiting on the other side. I barely heard the door open before a booming voice echoed,
“Where is she?”
Uncle Harold boomed, his voice filling every corner of the room. Benny instantly stepped in front of him, his stance protective and his jaw clenched tight. I could feel the anger radiating off Harold in waves, each word landing like a blow.
“You need to back off, Harold,” Benny said, his voice edged with warning as he kept his body between me and my uncle. “You can’t just come in here like this.”
But Harold was past listening. He shoved Benny aside, his eyes searching the room until they found me, just as I stepped around the corner from the kitchen. I froze, the intensity of his glare pinning me in place. Benny quickly moved to close the door behind Aunt Gina and stepped in front of me, blocking my uncle’s line of sight. His broad back was a shield between me and the onslaught of Harold’s rage.
“What’s going on?” I asked, my voice shaky but defiant. I tried to look around Benny, but he held his ground, his presence a firm line of defense.
Harold’s face was twisted with anger, his fists clenched as he pointed at me. “You’ve got this boy living in your mama’s house!” he shouted, his voice cracking with emotion. “And I’ve got Old Man Harry telling me you’ve got a bunch of Vandals vouching that you weren’t in a fight when six women described you in detail!”
The words hit like a slap, the sheer force of his anger pressing down on me, but as his accusations rang out, something inside me snapped.
Benny glanced back at me, his eyes searching mine, but he didn’t move from his spot in front of me. He was there, steady and unflinching, even as the storm raged on. “Harold, you need to calm down,” Benny said, his voice low and tense. “She doesn’t need this from you.”
I stepped around Benny, frustration boiling over. “DO YOU EVEN HEAR YOURSELF RIGHT NOW?” I yelled, my voice trembling with fury and years of bottled-up hurt. “You used to be a biker too! You still have your bike! You know what that life is like!”
“That’s different,” Uncle Harold snapped, his anger flaring again as he tried to reel himself back, but I wasn’t about to let him off that easy.
“No, it’s not!” I shot back, my voice breaking. “When you met Aunt Gigi, you’d just gotten out of jail! She still gave you a chance. She saw something in you that no one else did. How is it any different for me and Benny?”
Harold’s face tightened, his anger battling with the guilt that flickered briefly in his eyes. “It’s different because your mama made me promise,” he said, his voice straining, shaking with unspoken grief. “She made me promise that I’d protect you. I gave her my word that I’d be the father you needed.”
Pain gripped my chest, sharp and unforgiving. My throat tightened as I tried to hold back the emotions that threatened to swallow me whole. “Don’t bring her into this!” I shouted, my voice cracking under the weight of it all. The mention of my mom felt like a knife, twisting deep. The hurt was suffocating, choking me with memories of promises I never asked for.
Harold’s face contorted with pain and fury, his voice shaking as he continued. “You’re running around with this boy, getting into trouble, doing things you shouldn’t. You aren’t the little girl we raised.”
I took a deep, shuddering breath, trying to steady myself, but the grief and anger were a tidal wave, pulling me under. I tried to step around Benny, desperate to confront my uncle face-to-face, but Benny’s arm shot out, his hand gently tucking me behind him. His body was a shield, protecting me even when I was ready to charge headfirst into the fire.
“Harold, enough,” Benny said, his voice like steel, unyielding and protective. “You don’t get to judge her. You don’t get to make her feel small.”
I peeked around Benny, the tears burning in my eyes as I stared at my uncle. “You never knew me,” I said, my voice cracking with the raw truth I’d kept buried for years. “Because the little girl you raised was broken, scared and angry. You never saw that, did you? You never saw how hard it was to keep it together, how much I was hurting.”
The room was thick with tension, the air heavy with the weight of unspoken pain. Aunt Gina stepped closer, her face etched with sadness as she watched me unravel. “Sunny, we’re just trying to help,” she said softly, her voice a calm presence amidst the chaos. “We love you. We don’t want to see you get hurt.”
But I was too far gone, too tangled up in my own grief and anger to let the words soothe me. “I know you love me,” I said, my voice trembling as I fought to keep control. “But you don’t get to decide what’s best for me anymore. You don’t get to come in here and throw around all your guilt and promises like they’re weapons.”
Harold’s face fell, the anger draining away, leaving only the hollow ache of regret. His shoulders sagged, and for the first time, he looked at me not with fury, but with a kind of desperate sorrow. “I’m scared, Sunny,” he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. “I’m scared I’m failing her. Failing you. I don’t want to lose you.”
The admission hit me harder than any of his accusations. I could see the guilt and fear that mirrored my own, the weight of promises made in grief and love and uncertainty. But this wasn’t just about him, and it wasn’t about my mom. It was about me.
I took a shaky step forward, Benny’s hand still resting on my shoulder, grounding me. “You’re not failing me,” I said, my voice softening as the anger ebbed away, replaced by something gentler. “But you’ve got to let me live. You’ve got to trust me to make my own choices, even if they’re messy.”
Aunt Gina reached out, squeezing Harold’s arm, her touch a quiet anchor pulling him back. She looked at me, her eyes filled with a sadness that was heavy and old, and nodded slowly. “We just want you to be happy,” she said, her voice choked with the weight of everything left unsaid.
“I am happy,” I whispered, looking up at Benny, who watched me with those steady eyes that had been my rock through it all. “Because I’m finally living for me.”
Uncle Harolds expression softened, the lines of his face deepening as he looked at me, his shoulders sagging under the weight of his own failures. “Forgive me,” he murmured, his voice breaking with raw vulnerability. It wasn’t just an apology for tonight, but for everything—for every time he’d let his anger and grief overshadow his love for me.
Harold bowed his head, the pain etched deep into his features, and without another word, he turned away, his broad, hulking figure seeming smaller, more fragile as he walked toward the door. He moved slowly, like he was dragging the weight of the world behind him, every step heavy with the sorrow of a man who’d tried to do right but hadn’t always known how.
Aunt Gina lingered for a moment, her eyes filled with a mixture of sadness and quiet reassurance. She reached out, squeezing my arm gently, her touch warm and grounding. “We’re still here, Sunny,” she said softly, her voice laced with a kind of fierce love that made my chest ache. “No matter what, we’re still here for you.”
I nodded, feeling the sting of tears that I refused to let fall. “I know,” I whispered, my voice catching as I met her gaze. “Thank you.”
Gina gave me a soft, reassuring smile, the kind that spoke of years of shared memories, both good and bad. She glanced at Benny, her expression shifting to something like cautious hope, and then back at me, her eyes full of unspoken promises. She turned to follow Harold, her footsteps light but purposeful, and with one last look, she stepped through the door, closing it softly behind her.
With the door closed and my aunt and uncle finally gone, the weight of their words hung heavy in the air, settling deep into my bones. The playfulness of our earlier mood had completely vanished, replaced by something darker and more somber. I stood in the middle of the room, feeling lost, unsure of what to do with myself as the emotional turmoil that always seemed to follow me crept back in. I had thought I’d managed to escape it these past few weeks, hiding in the warmth of Benny’s company, but now it was back, clawing at me with a vengeance.
I sniffed, trying to swallow down the lump in my throat, the familiar sting of tears threatening to break free again. “I need a nap,” I muttered, my voice barely above a whisper. I couldn’t even bring myself to look at Benny, my gaze fixed on the stairs as I rushed past him, desperate to get away, to hide from the flood of emotions crashing over me.
I stumbled into the bedroom, shutting the door behind me and collapsing onto the bed. I curled up into a tight ball, pulling the blankets around me as if they could shield me from everything swirling inside my head. My uncle’s voice echoed, relentless and unforgiving, each word like a dagger twisting deeper. ‘I promised your ma I’d take care of you.’ The guilt, the pressure, the overwhelming sense of being a disappointment—it all wrapped around me, suffocating and relentless.
I buried my face into the pillow, my chest tightening with each shaky breath as I tried to keep it together. But it was no use. The tears came anyway, hot and uncontrollable, spilling over as I silently sobbed into the fabric. The pain of my past, the weight of everyone’s expectations—it was too much. All the anger, the sadness, and the unresolved grief came rushing back, drowning me in a wave of emotions I didn’t know how to handle.
I didn’t hear Benny come in, but I felt the bed dip as he sat beside me, his presence a quiet, grounding force that I hadn’t realized I was desperate for. He didn’t say anything, didn’t ask me to talk or try to pry me open. He simply wrapped his arms around me, pulling me close, his body fitting around mine like a protective shield. I felt his head nestle into the crook of my neck, his breath warm and steady against my skin.
He didn’t let go, didn’t pull back when I tensed, just held me tighter, his arms firm and unyielding. Benny’s embrace was like an anchor, something solid and real in the middle of my storm. His touch was gentle, each stroke of his thumb against my shoulder a silent reassurance that I wasn’t alone, that I didn’t have to carry all of this by myself. I felt the trembling in my body start to ease, the frantic beating of my heart slowly matching the calm, even rhythm of his.
Benny’s presence was more than just comforting; it was life-saving. He grounded me in a way that nothing else could, pulling me back from the edge of my own despair. The panic, the guilt, all the things I kept locked away—they didn’t feel so unbearable with him there, holding me through it. I closed my eyes, letting myself sink into the warmth of his embrace, feeling the tension slowly begin to drain from my muscles.
He kissed my shoulder softly, his lips brushing against my skin in a gesture so gentle it almost broke me all over again. I felt the tears well up once more, but this time they were softer, less frantic, as if Benny’s presence was slowly unwinding the tight knot of pain inside me. I turned slightly, pressing my face into his chest, breathing him in—the scent of leather, smoke, and something uniquely his that always made me feel safe.
“I’ve got you,” Benny whispered, his voice low and hushed, like a secret meant only for me. His hand moved up to cup the back of my head, his fingers threading through my hair as he held me close. “You’re not alone. I’m right here.”
I squeezed my eyes shut, the words breaking through my defenses in a way that nothing else had. Benny didn’t try to fix me, didn’t pretend that he could make everything better, and that was exactly what I needed. He was just there, unconditionally, holding me as I broke down, no judgment, no expectations—just a quiet, unwavering support that made me feel like maybe I could keep going, even when everything felt impossible.
I pulled back just enough to look up at him, my eyes puffy and wet, but his gaze was soft and full of something that made my heart ache. I saw the way he looked at me—not with pity, but with an understanding that went deeper than words. He brushed his thumb across my cheek, wiping away the last of my tears, and I felt the flood of emotion rise up again, but this time it was different, warmer.
“I love you,” I whispered, the confession spilling out before I could second-guess it. It was raw and unguarded, the truth laid bare in the quiet space between us. For the first time, it didn’t feel scary to say. It felt right.
Benny’s face softened, and a smile tugged at his lips, gentle and filled with a quiet joy that made my heart flutter. He leaned in, pressing his forehead against mine, his eyes closing as he let the words sink in. “I love you, too,” he murmured, his voice thick with emotion. “More than you know.”
I melted into him, my arms wrapping around his neck as he held me tighter, his embrace a sanctuary from the world outside. The chaos, the pain, my uncle’s harsh words—they all faded into the background, replaced by the steady, calming presence of Benny beside me. I buried my face against his chest, letting myself be small and vulnerable, knowing that with Benny, I didn’t have to be anything but myself.

Residential vs. Commercial Dumpster Rentals: What’s the Difference?
Tumblr media
Introduction
One of the most important yet often overlooked aspects of any residential or commercial project is waste management. The garbage generated can quickly accumulate whether you’re running a business, managing a building site, remodeling your house, or cleaning your garage. Here’s where renting a dumpster can help.
Residential dumpsters usually range in size from 10 to 20 yards and are ideal for small cleanouts or home renovation projects. Commercial dumpsters, either front-load or roll-off, are ideal for businesses that generate high volumes of waste.
Residential Dumpsters
Whether you’re renovating or decluttering your home, renting a residential dumpster is an ideal choice to dispose of the waste. You’ll need them for:
Home renovation projects: Whether you’re removing your cabinets, tearing out carpet, or replacing windows, home improvement projects generate debris that your regular trash bin can’t handle. A dumpster keeps the mess contained.
Garage, attic, or basement cleanouts: These areas often accumulate years’ worth of forgotten stuff. Renting a dumpster makes it easy to get rid of old furniture, boxes, broken appliances, and clutter all at once.
Moving or downsizing: When preparing to move, you might find unwanted items you no longer want or need. A dumpster makes the process of clearing out trash much easier.
Roof repairs: Shingles, nails, and underlayment are all heavy debris that’s best handled with a dumpster.
Yard and landscape work: Mowing your lawn, edging, and trimming your trees and shrubs can all fill up trash bags quickly. A dumpster helps you manage green waste and bulky outdoor debris with ease.
Seasonal cleaning: When you have a dumpster onsite, seasonal cleaning like a light spring refresh or a more thorough end-of-year declutter becomes easier.
Residential Dumpster Size
Residential dumpsters come in different sizes:
10-yard dumpster: Perfect for small-scale cleanouts, single-room remodels, or disposing of limited heavy materials like concrete or soil. Ideal for projects like a small garage cleanout or light renovation work.
15-yard dumpster: Ideal for medium-scale cleanouts or light renovation projects like flooring replacement, small deck removal, or decluttering a larger room.
20-yard dumpster: Great for whole-home decluttering or moderate renovation projects like kitchen remodels or major yard overhauls. Most 20-yard dumpsters come with easy-access doors, so you can walk in bulky items instead of lifting them over the side. They also fit in most residential driveways.
What Can You Throw in a Residential Dumpster?
You can toss a wide range of household and renovation debris into a residential dumpster, including:
Old furniture (sofas, mattresses, tables)
Construction materials (drywall, tile, wood, insulation)
Appliances (if they don’t contain refrigerants)
Yard waste (leaves, branches, soil)
General clutter (boxes, toys, clothing)
Roofing materials (shingles, flashing)
However, some items are usually prohibited, such as:
Paints, oils, and solvents
Tires and batteries
Asbestos or other hazardous materials
Refrigerators with Freon
Electronics (in some states)
Always ask the rental company for a full list of what’s accepted. You can get fined for dumping restricted items.
Commercial Dumpsters
If your business generates a lot of waste, you’ll need a commercial dumpster to handle it. These dumpsters are ideal for:
Retail stores: Whether it’s packaging waste, old displays, or damaged goods, retail outlets generate a steady stream of waste that needs regular pickup.
Restaurants and cafes: Daily food waste, packaging, and kitchen scraps can pile up fast. A dumpster helps manage them properly.
Construction sites: Job sites create tons of heavy waste like concrete, drywall, wood, and metal. You’ll need a tough, high-capacity dumpster to keep things under control.
Apartments: Multi-tenant buildings need permanent dumpsters to handle regular residential waste.
Offices: They produce less bulky waste, but paper products, outdated electronics, and occasional renovation debris can quickly add up. A large dumpster helps keep the workspace clean and clutter-free.
Event venues: Festivals, conventions, and public events require large dumpsters to handle high-traffic waste.
Types of Commercial Dumpsters
Commercial dumpsters come in two types:
Front-load dumpster: This is the type you usually see behind restaurants or in business parks. A garbage truck with front forks lifts and empties the container. It has a lid to control pests and odor. Front-load dumpsters typically range in size from two to eight cubic yards, so they fit easily in alleys and parking lots.
Roll-off dumpster: This is a larger, open-top container delivered on flatbed trucks. Roll-off dumpsters are ideal for big jobs with a lot of waste and get picked up when full. Sizes range from 10 to 40 cubic yards.
What Can You Throw in a Commercial Dumpster?
It depends on the type of dumpster you rent, but most commercial dumpsters can handle things like:
Packaging materials
Broken furniture or fixtures
Office equipment (non-electronic)
Construction debris (wood, metal, drywall)
Yard or landscaping waste
Cardboard, plastics, and general garbage
You can’t dispose of items like:
Hazardous waste (chemicals, oils, paint)
Medical or biohazard materials
E-waste (computers, printers, batteries)
Flammable or explosive items
Large appliances with refrigerants
Always get a list of the accepted items you can dispose of in your dumpster. Tossing in prohibited items can lead to fines.

Garbage Bin Rental in Newmarket Ontario: Your Complete Cleanup Companion
We’ve all been there — standing knee-deep in clutter, construction debris, or garden waste, wondering how we’ll ever get rid of it all. Whether you’re knee-deep in a renovation, purging your garage, or tackling a major yard project, garbage bin rental in Newmarket, Ontario can make your life a whole lot easier.
Tumblr media
Why Renting a Garbage Bin Makes Life Easier
Tackling a big cleanup without a bin is like trying to carry a gallon of water with your bare hands — it’s inefficient, frustrating, and messy. Garbage bin rentals take the burden off your shoulders. You don’t need to make endless trips to the dump or worry about how you’ll fit that old couch into your SUV. Just toss everything in the bin and let the pros handle it.
What is a Garbage Bin Rental?
A garbage bin rental is a large, portable container that’s delivered to your home or job site. You fill it up with waste, and when you’re done, the rental company hauls it away and disposes of the contents properly. It’s a temporary, hassle-free solution for managing large volumes of trash.
When Do You Need a Bin Rental in Newmarket?
There are all kinds of situations where renting a bin makes perfect sense. Home renovations often produce more waste than expected, and decluttering before a move can uncover years’ worth of junk. Landscaping projects, estate cleanouts, or even hosting a big event can also generate more garbage than your regular curbside bin can handle.
Different Bin Sizes and What They’re Best For
Bin sizes range from compact to extra-large, and each is suited for different tasks. A 10-yard bin is perfect for bathroom remodels or basement cleanouts, while a 12-yard bin offers a bit more room for mid-sized projects. The 20-yard bin is the go-to for larger renovations, garage demolitions, or clearing out old furniture. Think of it like choosing between a backpack, duffel bag, or suitcase — pick the size that fits your load.
Mini Bin Rentals: Big Help for Small Projects
Tumblr media
Understanding the Cost of Garbage Bin Rental
cost of garbage bin rental is usually a top concern, and it’s smart to plan ahead. The price of a garbage bin rental newmarket ontario depends on several things — mainly the size of the bin, how long you keep it, the type of waste, and any extra weight you might add. Most Newmarket providers offer rates that range from $200 to $500. It’s a good idea to ask upfront about any additional fees, like exceeding the weight limit or needing an extra day.
Comparing 10, 12, and 20 Yard Bin Rental Prices
Here’s where we’ll keep it simple:
10 Yard Bin Rental: $200–$300
12 Yard Bin Rental: $250–$350
20 Yard Bin Rental Price: $350–$500
These ranges are just estimates. Prices can vary slightly depending on the season, provider, and type of waste. Still, they give you a ballpark figure to work with when budgeting.
What Can You Throw in the Bin? What You Can’t
Here’s one of the only spots where bullet points really help:
Allowed Items:
Renovation debris like drywall, wood, and tile
Old furniture
Yard waste (leaves, branches, etc.)
Household junk
Restricted Items:
Paints, solvents, and hazardous chemicals
Tires and batteries
Electronics
Asbestos or any toxic materials
Tumblr media
Clean Fill Bin Rental: A Special Case
A clean fill bin rental is used exclusively for natural, recyclable materials like soil, gravel, concrete, and brick. It’s important not to mix in household garbage or renovation waste with clean fill, as this can lead to contamination and hefty extra charges. Clean fill bins are great for landscaping or demolition projects where materials can be repurposed.
How to Choose the Right Bin Size
Choosing the right bin is a mix of experience and educated guessing. If you’re unsure, think about the scope of your project. Are you just tossing out boxes and bags, or will you be removing drywall, appliances, and flooring? A safe rule of thumb is to size up — ordering a bin that’s slightly too big costs less than renting a second one later.
Proximity to the Newmarket Garbage Dump
Being close to the Newmarket garbage dump is a major perk. It means your rental company can transport and dispose of waste more efficiently, which may translate to lower fuel surcharges or faster service. Ask your rental provider if they’re familiar with the dump’s policies and fees — they likely are if they’re local.
Bin Rental for Garbage vs. Other Waste Types
Not all bins are created equal. Bin rental for garbage typically includes general household and renovation waste, but other bins may be tailored for clean fill, roofing materials, or heavy construction debris. If you’re handling something specific, like shingles or bricks, let your provider know so they can recommend the right type of bin.
Step-by-Step: How to Rent a Garbage Bin
Renting a bin is surprisingly simple. First, contact a local provider and choose the bin size that fits your needs. Next, schedule a delivery date and time. Once the bin arrives, fill it within the rental period. Finally, call the company for pickup. Some companies offer same-day or next-day delivery, so you won’t be left waiting.
Tips to Maximize Your Bin Rental Experience
Here’s where a few quick tips really shine:
Don’t overfill the bin — keep waste below the rim to avoid extra charges.
Spread weight evenly so the bin can be safely transported.
Place it smartly — make sure there’s easy access for drop-off and pickup.
Avoid delays — schedule your pickup on time to avoid extra rental days.
These simple steps can save you stress and money.
Conclusion: Renting a Bin = Peace of Mind

What is a Garage Cleanout Service?
A garage cleanout service is a professional service that helps you declutter and organize your garage. These services include everything from removing unwanted items to helping you organize and maximize storage space. Professional cleanout services are especially useful if your garage has become disorganized or overstuffed.

Proper Disposal: Experts know how to dispose of items responsibly, recycling when possible.
Safety: If there are hazardous materials, professionals know how to handle them safely.
Step-by-Step Guide to Organizing Your Garage with Professional Cleanout Services
1. Initial Assessment and Planning
The first step in the garage cleanout process is the initial assessment. Here’s what to expect during this stage:
Space Evaluation: The cleanout service will evaluate the size of your garage and the amount of clutter present.
Needs and Priorities: The professionals will ask you about your goals for the garage—whether you want to create more storage space, set up a workshop, or simply declutter.
Plan of Action: Based on this assessment, the service will develop a plan for cleaning and organizing your garage efficiently.
2. Sorting and Categorizing Items
The next step in the cleanout process is sorting through all the items in your garage. This stage involves:

Trash: Broken, damaged, or expired items that should be disposed of.

Responsible Disposal: They ensure that items are disposed of responsibly—recycling materials like metal, plastic, or glass when possible.
Donations: If you’re donating items, professionals can help arrange for them to be taken to local charities or donation centers.
4. Cleaning the Garage

Sweeping and Dusting: The garage will be swept and dusted to remove dirt and debris from the floors, shelves, and walls.
Washing Surfaces: The team may clean surfaces like shelves, windows, and cabinets to ensure everything is fresh and ready for use.
Special Cleaning for Hard-to-Reach Areas: They can also clean difficult areas like gutters, vents, and corners that tend to collect dust.

Create Zones: They’ll help you set up distinct areas for different purposes, such as a tool area, sports equipment zone, or seasonal storage.
Utilize Bins and Storage Containers: Labelled storage bins and clear containers can help keep items organized and easily accessible.
Designate a Workspace: If you plan to use your garage as a workshop, the cleanout service can help set up a functional and organized work area.
Install Garage Storage Solutions: Professionals can install shelving units, cabinets, or overhead storage racks to optimize the space.
6. Final Touches and Maintenance Tips
Once your garage is organized, the final step is maintaining its cleanliness and organization. Professional services can:
Suggest Organizational Systems: They can recommend simple organizational systems to help you keep your garage tidy, such as labeling bins or using clear storage containers.
Provide Maintenance Tips: Regular maintenance will ensure that your garage remains organized over time. This includes setting a routine for decluttering and cleaning every few months.
Easy-to-Follow Layout: They’ll create a simple and efficient layout that makes it easy for you to find what you need, reducing the chances of clutter building up again.
Additional Tips for Maintaining an Organized Garage
Declutter Regularly: Set aside time every few months to go through your garage and remove any items that are no longer needed.
Keep Only What You Use: Limit your belongings to what is used frequently and dispose of or donate things you haven’t used in a while.
Store Seasonal Items: Keep seasonal items like holiday decorations or camping gear in bins and store them high or at the back of the garage for easy access during their respective seasons.
Invest in Durable Storage Solutions: High-quality shelving, cabinets, and bins will help you store items safely and securely.
Conclusion
Organizing your garage with the help of professional cleanout services can make a significant difference in the functionality and appearance of your space. From sorting and cleaning to organizing and installing storage solutions, these services offer everything you need to create a clutter-free, efficient garage. Not only will your garage look better, but you will also have more usable space for storing your belongings or setting up a workshop.
By following the steps outlined above and utilizing professional garage cleanout services, you can transform your garage into a well-organized, accessible area that adds value and convenience to your home.

I’ve spent the last few weeks going through my wardrobe with a fine-tooth comb. I’m being brutally honest with myself about what I do, and do not want to wear again. I’ve had more than my fair share of outfit malfunctions over the last 12 months and would like to avoid making as many as I can this year. I still don’t have a crystal clear vision of how I want to dress in 2025, but I do know what I did not enjoy wearing in 2024. Since my personal style is constantly evolving, I need to stay on top of all the excess stuff that finds its way into my wardrobe…and a good old declutter paves the way. Cleaning out what you know you dislike helps to declutter your space, but it also allows you to reevaluate your personal style. I’m updating this post from last year and leaving the comments, which are full of great ideas! Before you declutter, be sure you don’t just need to reorganize what you own. If your closet is messy, it’s hard to find the pieces you need to put a look together.  How To Start Many people like to attack their wardrobe, ala Marie Kondo, but that’s never appealed to me. It’s not realistic for me to take everything out of my closet at one time and toss it into a pile. That process creates a mountain of work, and it would depress me long before I finished it. If the job is overwhelming, decision fatigue can set in, so you end up rushing to finish and start making poor decisions.  I like to make this simple, so I start at one end of the rod or go through one drawer at a time. Have four bags or boxes at the ready: 1- This box is for items you want to donate or send to consignment stores. 2- This bag is for things that are too worn to salvage or donate. Our landfills are clogged with discarded clothes, so you could also investigate non-profits that will accept textiles in any condition. 3- This bag is for garments you want to keep wearing but they’re in need of repair, cleaning, or alterations. 4- This not-sure box is for anything you’re on the fence about.  The not-sure box is super important! You can bravely place things into this box because you know it’s not leaving your house. The decision is temporary and allows you to revisit the pieces later, but they aren’t hanging in your closet to see each day. Tape the box closed and store it in a guest room closet or the garage to examine in 6+ months. Questions To Ask as You Declutter Your Wardrobe If your taste and style are evolving like mine, you may find it helpful to revisit the three-word method to find your personal style. I’m in the process of redefining my words this year, so I’m being extra careful about what I donate. For each item you pick up, ask yourself: Does it fit you properly at your current weight? Do you have 5 or 6 multiples of the same type of garment? Is it expressing who you are now at this stage of life and with your current style goals? Is it still in good shape, or does it need repairing or altering? Does the color and style flatter your current hair color and body shape? Do you feel fabulous wearing it, or does it spark joy per the Konmari method? Is it still in style, or has the trend passed so you’ll look dated wearing it? Have you reached for it in the last year or so? Some people recommend getting rid of things you haven’t worn in six months, but I disagree. There are several categories of clothes we need to have in our wardrobe that are rarely worn but are invaluable to have on hand, such as formal wear or things to wear to a funeral. Closet Cleanout Tips and Mistakes Take Your Time Listen to your intuition, and don’t be too hasty. If you’re unsure about an item, remember that it can go into your not-sure box #4 above. Don’t Be Overly Emotional Is this the scarf your friend gave you, but you dislike how it looks on you and never wear it? Is this the suit you wore when you got that fabulous promotion, but you’ve retired and now live a casual lifestyle? Decluttering Essentials Have a notepad nearby to jot down items you need to add to your wardrobe. If you discover that your favorite black pants are looking a little worse for wear, make a note to keep an eye out for a new pair. Be sure to replace them before you donate your old ones. Cost Does Not Equal Value This is a slippery slope. Just because you paid a lot for something doesn’t mean you should keep it. And if you got a smokin’ hot deal on something that doesn’t look great on you, it’s not serving you well either. If you did pay a lot for something, sell it at a consignment shop to recoup some of your original investment. Relying Solely On Joy A functional wardrobe needs items that serve a purpose, and they don’t all have to spark joy…sorry Marie Kondo. Wardrobes need functional basics that we may feel neutral about but are essential pieces to complete our outfits. That said, don’t keep anything you don’t like! You Keep Too Many Duplicates. My hand is raised on this one. It’s so easy to justify another great pair of black pants because I like and wear them so often. Keep a few of the best of the best, and release the rest. Last year, I struggled to declutter my jeans collection. Surprise! I find myself in the same spot again this year and have 6 pairs of jeans in a donation bag! You’re Overzealous We often talk about finding your personal style here on AWSL. Our style evolves as we learn and grow, so getting rid of large portions of your wardrobe in one fell swoop can lead to remorse. I’d rather have three not-sure boxes than regret donating a piece prematurely. Packing things up and removing them from your daily wardrobe will help clear your mind so you can get a better idea of how you want to look going forward. The one category I seldom declutter from my wardrobe is accessories. They take up very little space, and I often change my mind about them. How To Organize Your Wardrobe As you go through this process, begin to organize your wardrobe in a user-friendly way. Some people like to organize by color, and others use categories. I find that categories make the most sense, and then I further refine it by color within each category. Hang all your shirts on the rod, facing in the same direction. Group all jeans together and all pants together. The same goes for skirts, jackets, sweaters, and knit tops. You can further categorize them by color (light to dark) or formality level (casual to dressy). This helps you see what you have, identify duplicates, and spot the things you’re missing from your wardrobe essentials. Note – I no longer separate my items by formality because life is too short not to wear the good stuff. It’s fun to wear a silk blouse; add jeans, sneakers, some amazing earrings, and a faux fur vest. I firmly believe we should not save our best pieces. We deserve to enjoy them every chance we can get. Get a good lint remover and fabric shaver to keep your clothes in good shape moving forward. My favorite is this Gleener and this shaver. Velvet hangers save a ton of room on your rods and virtually double your closet space. The flocked surface helps grip your tops so they don’t slip to the floor. I like to hang my seasonal clothes, sweaters, and woolens in these clear wardrobe storage bags so I can see what I have while they keep the moths at bay. You can also use under-the-bed storage bins, but I fear I would forget what I own! Hardest clothing to declutter Some categories feel easier to declutter than others. The pieces you struggle with the most will likely be your favorite type of garment. For me…it’s jeans because I wear them most days. Try not to justify keeping too many duplicates because it’ll make it harder to get dressed each morning. What item of clothing do you struggle with the most when decluttering clothes? 8 Ways to Break Up with Your Junk
27NOV
Tumblr media
Breaking up is hard to do, but when it comes to junk cluttering your home or office, it’s a split that’s long overdue. Letting go of unnecessary items can be overwhelming, but with the right strategies, you can clear your space and mind. Here are eight effective ways to finally part ways with your junk and embrace a clutter-free lifestyle.
1. Set Clear Goals for Your Space
Before diving into decluttering, envision how you want your space to look and function. Whether it’s creating a minimalist living room or a functional office, having a clear goal will keep you motivated to part with items that no longer serve a purpose.
2. Start Small, Think Big
Decluttering your entire space at once can feel daunting. Instead, start with one small area, like a drawer or closet. As you make progress, you’ll gain the confidence and momentum to tackle larger areas.
3. Use the “Three Box” Method
When sorting through your belongings, use three boxes labeled “Keep,” “Donate,” and “Trash.” This simple method helps you quickly categorize items and decide what’s worth holding onto.
4. Ask Yourself Tough Questions
Be honest with yourself as you sort through your items. Ask questions like, “When was the last time I used this?” or “Does this item bring me joy?” If you can’t justify keeping it, it’s time to let it go.
5. Call in the Pros
Sometimes, the clutter is too much to handle alone. Professional junk removal services, like those offered by Moose Demolition, can help you efficiently clear out large items or bulk waste, saving you time and effort.
6. Adopt a “One In, One Out” Rule
To maintain a clutter-free space, implement the “one in, one out” rule: for every new item you bring into your home, remove an old one. This habit prevents accumulation and keeps your space balanced.
7. Recycle and Repurpose
Not all junk belongs in the trash. Look for opportunities to recycle or repurpose items. Old furniture, electronics, and even clothing can often find a second life through recycling centers or creative DIY projects.
8. Stay Committed to the Process
Decluttering is not a one-time event but an ongoing process. Schedule regular cleanouts to stay ahead of the mess and maintain the sense of freedom that comes with a clutter-free environment.
Final Thoughts
Breaking up with your junk doesn’t have to be painful. With these eight steps, you can reclaim your space, reduce stress, and create an environment that supports your lifestyle. If you’re ready for a complete transformation, Moose Demolition’s junk removal services are here to help. Say goodbye to the clutter and hello to a fresh start today!

The Importance of Sewer Scope Inspections for Your Home
Tumblr media
Ever opened a mystery box to find something totally unexpected? Maybe you were treated to a gift as a kid hoping for that shiny new toy, only to unwrap the bow and find a fresh pair of yellow-green socks. Imagine that same exact feeling when you use the plumbing or restroom of your newly purchased home. Instead of a pleasant surprise, you stumble upon hidden defects that dig into your savings. A sewer line issue can be one of those nasty surprises that can drain your wallet faster than the line itself. Enter the hero of our story: Sewer Scope Inspections. Digging Into the What and Why of Sewer Scope Inspections An essential yet often overlooked part of a home inspection, a sewer scope inspection is a deep dive into your property's underground drainage system. It’s as crucial as examining the home's structure or checking the HVAC system. So many things can happen underground without you ever being the wiser. A sewer scope can detect essential items like root invasions, broken pipes, collapsed lines, and more without a high level of intrusion into your home’s systems. Picture this: A beautifully renovated home with all modern amenities catches your eye. Imagine sipping your morning coffee in that picturesque kitchen. But hidden beneath that dreamy home is a 40-year-old sewer line filled with tree roots, breaks, or bellies. The result? A ticking time bomb of costly repairs and a damper on your dream home's charm. A comprehensive sewer scope inspection can save you from this headache. It can detect potential problems before they transform into monumental disasters. In a world where 'out of sight, out of mind' rules, it sheds light on the neglected part of your home—your sewer system. The How and Where of Sewer Scope Inspections: A Journey Underground So, how does Cottage 2 Castle, backed by 35 years of construction experience and more than 5,000 paid inspections, carry out this investigation? Let's journey underground. •    Insertion of the scope: A high-tech, waterproof camera is inserted into the sewer line via a cleanout—an access point in your plumbing system. •    Journey through the line: Snaking its way through the pipe, the camera captures video footage and relays it back to the inspector. •    Assessment and reporting: The inspector, based on their years of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC experience, reviews the footage to spot any red flags and later provides a detailed report of their findings. This process can be performed in homes old or new, city or suburb. No matter the location, every homeowner benefits from knowing their sewer system’s status. Suppose you live in a new construction home in Fort Collins, Colorado. "Why would I need a sewer scope inspection?" you ask. While it's true that more recent homes may have fewer sewer line issues, even new lines can suffer from poor installation or ground settling. A preventative inspection today can save you a significant sum tomorrow. The Power of Prevention Imagine being armed with a detailed understanding of your home, from the visible corners to the unseen sewer lines. A simple yet powerful sewer scope inspection gives you just that. Connect with us at Cottage 2 Castle Home Inspections, a trusted local name for sewer scope inspections in Fort Collins, Colorado. Leverage our expertise and Radon certification for an inspection that leaves no stone—or sewer line—unturned. Your home is your castle. The Strings That Bind Us ~ Servant of House Beneviento
Tumblr media
Summary: Vulcan becomes The Servant of House Beneviento. How will he do?
Pairing: Donna Beneviento x Male OC (Vulcan)
[A Few Hours From Sundown]
"And this will be your room." The small puppet said as she pushed open a door that revealed a room. One full-sized bed against the same wall that the door resided in but was placed in the center of the wall. The bed was downed in a blanket with dark grey and blue color schemes with two pillows at the head of the bed in grey pillowcases. Underneath the bed was a decent-sized grey rug that complimented the grey tile floor. On either side of the bed were dark grey hardwood nightstands - the left of which had a lamp and a small alarm clock. Across from the bed - on the other side of the room - was a study workstation with a chair, the dresser was tucked away in the corner, and the main closet was sitting on the adjacent wall of the dresser.
Vulcan walked into the room after Angie stepped away and looked around with a smile on his face, he left his cloak in the entrance hallway where the coatrack was located; revealing the black shirt and jeans he was wearing, along with his black boots and belt - the belt contained two sheathes that held his daggers. Lord Heisenberg wanted so badly to keep them because - in his own words - he was a house servant and house servants are not allowed to keep personal weapons, but Vulcan explained that he crafted those weapons and he was not just going to be one of those house servants that remained at home all the time - he intended to go out and do what he could for his House Mistress and he would need his daggers in case he ran into any...problems. Mother Miranda knew that Vulcan would cause no threat to Donna and demanded Heisenberg return the daggers to their master; which he reluctantly did. After which, Miranda dismissed the meeting and the other lords returned to their lands.
"I'm guessing the room is to your liking?" Angie asked as she levitated to reach Vulcan's eye level. The tall man looked at the possessed doll with a smile.
"It's perfect for me. Thanks for asking, Angie." Vulcan said as he placed his travel back - something else Heisenberg took from him and tried to keep because of the leather and design - against one of the nightstands.
"You're a strange one, ya know? Any sane person who saw a living doll would have run away, screaming for the hills." Angie said with a tilt of her massive head. Vulcan chuckled at those words.
"I may not be a 'sane person' then. Besides, I've spent years looking for you two; there was no way I was going to run away after finding you again." Vulcan said before his gaze turned to the outfit on the bed. "Is this going to be my work outfit?" Vulcan said as he walked over to it.
"Yes. Donna never really expected to have a house servant but just in case she did - she had two outfits said, one for each gender." Angie explained.
"I'm grateful," Vulcan said as he reached out to the suit's upper, his fingers lightly grazing against the House's Crest - The Sun and the Moon. "Angie, do you know what time Donna usually takes her dinner?" Vulcan said, looking back to the doll.
"In an hour or two, I wouldn't try to make too much; it all kinda tastes the same to her." Angie explained.
"What do you mean?" Vulcan asked.
"All the food is just...bland; you know, kinda tasteless but very filling for her." Angie said.
"Oh - don't worry about that. I didn't survive as long as I did on bland food and I refuse to let my mistress eat another bland meal." Vulcan said with a smirk.
"What are you planning to do, Vulcan?" Angie said with a tilt of her head.
"Oh, that would ruin the surprise but I know that she will like it. I need to get to work and you'll know when I'm done with dinner." Vulcan said as he turned back to look at his uniform.
Angie tilted her head again before she left the room, closing the door behind her. Vulcan looked at the black uniform with a smile before he placed the shirt back on the bed and began to undress.
[After Vulcan Got Dressed]
Vulcan looked in the tall mirror with pride in his new uniform - the Beneviento Family Chest proudly resting over his heart. He left his room and walked down the hall, down the stairs until he reached the ground floor; from the tour of the house given by Angie - Vulcan found the kitchen.
The Amber-Eyed Man looked around - there were a few things out of place but that was no challenge. He opened the cabinets and fridge and looked around - there were a few assortments of meats and some grains.
'I can make meat with a bread...Hm...but I need something else to add to it. Does she have any kind of veggie here?' Vulcan wondered as he continued to look around and got lucky when he found some potatoes in a sack. 'Perfect.' The red-haired man smirked as he placed all the items - except for the meat - on a clear table and got cleaning: he washed the few dishes that rested in the sink, swept the floor, wiped down the table and counters, placed any kind of box that wasn't supposed to be out in the open and placed them in a lone closet - that he had the cleanout of cobwebs and dust. Once the kitchen was clean - he jogged back to his room and opened his backpack; digging inside until he found the small wooden box he was looking for and walked back downstairs.
[Around Half An Hour Later]
Donna and Angie were talking in Donna's room - the veiled woman sat on her bed with her hands in her lap as Angie stood on the bed at her creator's right side.
"Mom, you don't have to be so nervous." Angie said as she tried to cheer her mother up.
"It's hard not to be, Angie. I hadn't seen him in years and suddenly he shows up here - he's been looking for you and me for...goodness knows how long and..." She paused for a moment as she wrapped her arms around herself - mimicking Vulcan's hug, still feeling his warmth in her bones. "The way he hugged me - not even Mother Miranda held me like that when she adopted me. It was so...comforting." Donna said in a low voice.
"I'm curious - just what is he to you, Mom?" Angie asked with a head tilt.
"Vulcan...He was the only real person who cared for me, even with the scar. He would stand by my side when others would badmouth or turn away from me; he would hold my hand to keep me grounded when I thought I was going to slip in a sobbing fit. When I introduced him to you - he was just as interested in you as I was. We were like...our own little family." Angie could hear the smile on her mother's lips.
"You loved him, didn't you?" Angie asked.
"Yes, I did." Donna said.
"Do you still love him?" Angie asked.
"I...I believe that I do but it's been so long - I never knew if he felt the same for me and I don't know if he thinks of me as a possible partner for him. I know he cared to me but..." Donna stopped in midsentence when a heavenly scent hit her nose. "Do you smell that?" Donna asked as she rose to her feet and began following the smell.
Donna and Angie followed the smell down the stairs but the longer they descended - they noticed just how clean the house began to look: pictures were dusted and wiped down, the floors appeared to be swept, mopped, and polished, there was even a pleasant smell of pine. When they made it to the ground flood - they entered the dining room and saw the table was...decorated? There was a long black tablecloth on the rectangular table with a candle holder in the center of the table - 3 candles were lit with their flames dancing to their slow beats. On the ends of the table - there were plate mats; when...when did have time to do all this? Where did he get all these items from? Donna and Angie continued to ponder until the kitchen door opened - letting the heavenly smell flood the room - as Vulcan walked out with a serving platter held by his right hand and bottle of wine in his left hand, tucked under his arm.
"Oh, Lady Beneviento and Lady Angie, I was just about to get you both for dinner." Vulcan said as he placed the serving tray, covered by a silver lip, in the center of the table before then retreated to the kitchen and returned with 2 glasses and walked over to Donna. "Please, allow me, Lady Beneviento." Vulcan said as he grabbed Donna's chair and pulled it out, waiting for Donna to sit with a smile on his face. When Donna sat in the chair, he pushed it in for her before walking over to her right and pulled out another chair for Angie; the puppet giggled before taking a seat and was pushed in behind her mother.
"Did...Did you do all of this yourself, Vulcan?" Donna asked in a low voice.
"Of course, Lady Beneviento, as the servant of House Beneviento, I must ensure my ladies and house are taken care of." Vulcan said with a smile of pride - he was happy being the servant of House Beneviento?
"We smelled something incredible on our way down here; just what were you doing in the kitchen?" Angie asked.
"I was prepared dinner for Lady Beneviento. During my travels, I came into some very interesting spices and I did jobs to make sure I had the funds to purchase spices and recipes that I thought Lady Beneviento would love. I would like to think I did this once justice but I would love my lady to tell me if I did." Vulcan said as he moved over to the tray and lifted the tray cover off the food, revealing the tinder-looking steak with toppings of garlic and herbs on top of it with some kind of sauce, a side of mashed potatoes with butter - a touch of pepper with gravy on top, and two bread buns. The smell was enough to get Donna's mouth watering and Angie's - if she had organs to eat.
Vulcan lifted one of the plates and walked over to Donna before setting it down on the plate mat before her; her utensils already on the mat, ready for use. Placing the bottle on the table, he got one of the two glasses he retrieved from the kitchen and placed it near Donna on the mat before opening the bottle of grape wine and poured a good amount for his lady to enjoy with her food. He got his plate and went to his seat before he pours himself a bottle of wine and looked at Donna with a smile.
"Please, tell me what you think, Lady Beneviento." Vulcan's eyes shined with the hopefulness that she would love it. Donna lifted her knife and fork, stabbed the steak with the fork before severing the part she stabbed with her knife. She lifted the meat to her lips, making sure to move her veil as to not touch the meat with the cloth; she took her first bite before she let out a moan of pleasure (NOT THAT KIND, YA NASTIES!).
"This...This is delicious, Vulcan." Donna said as she moved to eat more.
"I'm glad you like it, Lady Beneviento. I have lots of recipes I'm sure you'll love." Vulcan said with a wide toothy smile.
"Enough. When we are here - in House Beneviento - or when I permit you, you are to call me Donna. None of that 'Lady Beneviento' business." Donna said - if her veil was off, Vulcan would have been able to see the light blush on her face.
"As you wish...Donna." Vulcan smiled again before he began to eat his food.

22 for Garcy?
This has been in the drafts for... years, probably, but here we are, I still love these two and I am emotionally messy enough to be writing them again. Usual ignore-the-ending / post-everything ‘verse, PG-ish, also on ao3.
“It’s not heavy.  I’m stronger than I look.”
Technically speaking, Lucy has never had a domestic arrangement.
Sure, the years spent with the team have to count forsomething, but that was both involuntary and didn’t involve a consistent romanticelement until close to the end. Could’ve happened sooner, and she got to spendsix months trying to convince everyone else in her life that it wasn’t,but… even then, it was different. Doesn’t really count as living with a partnerif what you’re actually doing is hiding in their spaces and occasionallyaccepting affection.
But it’s over now, and they won, and now she gets to see ifthere are any actual skeletons in her mother’s house (there’s already speculationand possibly a betting pool in the group chat about what weird things she’sgoing to find), and she is not doing that alone.
There is a certain irony in this, in dragging home a partnerwho is almost everything she was probably taught to avoid but wasn’t perceptiveenough to be aware of. Flynn is older than her by just enough to matter even withher comfortably in her mid-thirties, has been through brutal hell and does notsee a point in pretending otherwise, only charming when he wants something, andthen there’s the whole physical structure of him to deal with. The man isdefinitely someone else’s nightmare come to life, and sometimes Lucy thinksthat might be part of the appeal, the romantic cliché of trying to tame thedangerous a little.
Not that she’s done any taming so much as made sure she’shis favorite person, but y’know. Details.
Point is, she needs to clean out the house and sell anythingof value before trying to get rid of the house itself – the curse of being theclosest surviving family member, and no she does not know how everything stayeduntouched for a year and a half but there are questions Lucy does not ask inthis life – and having the assistance of someone more physically capable thanshe is might be an asset for moving hundred-odd-year-old furniture. At least, that was how she phrased it when suggesting the idea last week when plans werebeing laid and it became apparent he had none. At the time, their hesitantromantic involvement wasn’t even worth mentioning as a reason he should go withher.
It’s not… it’s not like anything else she’s ever done, sheknows that. There have been really good kisses but not more than that becausethin walls and caution and uncertainty if her IUD has expired, and a warmprotectiveness to it, and she’s not sure where they go from there. She wasn’tsleeping alone once they came back here and he followed her upstairs withoutquestions, but they haven’t turned in new directions and if they end up justbeing rather tactile roommates she could live with that. She’s not going topush through that tangle of unresolved issues.
But right now, as she paces the formal dining room shethinks her mother may have used twice in her lifetime and her partnerleans against the wall and watches her, she wants more. And isn’t that alwayswhere it goes to hell. If there’s one thing Lucy has learned from the nearly-three-yeardetour her life took, it is that she should not want things because the momentshe realizes she does is the moment it goes horribly wrong. She should not wantthis other person, even with his near-feral sense of loyalty, to break her patterns. She should not want to keep him. It will end badly, she is sure.
“Would it make you feel better to break any of that?” Flynnasks, breaking silence and gesturing towards the decorative china cabinet.
“Worth too much,” Lucy shrugs. “Wouldn’t help anything.”
The problem with this whole cleanout project is there is noeasy place to start. Taking on the more public parts of the house first makessense because she’s less likely to find anything odd down here but thatdoesn’t mean she won’t, and that just builds a sense of dread as she works herway up the spiral. Today is the first day they’re even trying; the previousthree days have been an attempt at reacclimating to a quieter life, completewith a near-traumatic trip to a supermarket. Perhaps this self-isolation isn’ta great idea for their respective personalities, but…
“What about that statue? What is that?”
Lucy glances at said statue, and honestly hell if she knows. It looks vaguely Greek but probably isn’t, and she is reminded that she doesget her lack of consistent aesthetic sensibilities from that side of thefamily, and… screw it, might as well find out what it is. She takes a few stepsover and tries to lift the thing, and-
“Don’t… let me do that.”
Oh she should’ve known this would activate her partner’sinstincts. Damn him.
“It’s not heavy,” she points out. “I’m stronger than I look, and… I think this may have actually been intended as a lawn ornament.” And nota good quality one either, to the extent Lucy feels capable of judging suchthings. Suspiciously lightweight and might break if she dropped it, which shehas no plan to do but-
“Do we want to keep it?”
She sets the object down and looks at it as if she evencares. “Not really?”
“Is there anything in this room you do like?”
“No?” She feels scared to say that out loud, like she’s temptingghosts to come out of the walls. “I don’t… I don’t know what we even need. But allof this can go.”
“Alright.”
They’re both quiet for a few moments, standing there closebut not touching and uncertain. Being able to make so many choices in successionis honestly terrifying, Lucy is realizing, and she’s not sure she likesthe control. See, this is why she couldn’t do this project on her own, becausenothing would ever get done. Even with help she’s not sure they’ll getanywhere, but-
“There are boxes out in the front hallway, if you could getthose for me?”
And then she is alone, and she can’t remember the last timethat happened. Even if only for a minute, it feels wrong. She’s gottentoo used to living on top of other people, the chaos of it all, becoming somekind of family because that was the only way forward. Now she could go dayswithout seeing another human being, if she wanted. She gets to choose that too,and she’s not sure-
A hand on her shoulder brings her out of her spiral, tetheringher as always. She isn’t alone, not in any way that counts. The two damagedones clinging together like they did on the bad nights when she was in theworst of her unraveling and he was quiet and kind like she should’ve seenbefore she made her mistakes and-
“We don’t have to do this all at once,” he murmurs. “Or atany speed.”
“I have nothing else,” she counters. “And you’re…”
“Here with you,” he says before she can come up with somemore bitey phrase. “As long as you’ll let me be.”
She breaks.
See, the thing is, Lucy had always expected to do thisproject alone. When she’d been younger and oblivious to the amount of evilweirdness her bloodline was tangled up in, she’d assumed the timing would be alittle different, but she knew the score. She was the good responsible daughter, the one who would get the short straw when something happened. And as she’d gottenolder, and made consistently questionable romantic choices none of which lookedlike a future…
The reality of the situation as it has actually happened, the fact that she does have someone on her side, is too much to acceptright now.
She lets herself be held because words are not going tohappen right now, lets him pet her hair and be a comfort because she is notsure what else to do. How does one tell a partner, a potential-but-not-quitelover, that there was never any plan for this part? That she, prone toover-planning as an anxiety workaround, never thought she’d bring anyone hometo deal with this particular curse of eldest daughters? She’s not sure she can. She’s not sure she can avoid it either.
“I’ll deal with it,” he says after a while. “If that’seasier. Take everything to that antique dealer you were mentioning and-“
“I can’t ask that of you.”
“You’re not asking. I’m volunteering.”
Lucy takes a moment to envision how that would go down, Flynn’shistorically unpredictable people skills meeting the nightmarish world ofpretentious assholes who try to under-pay for antique furniture. It sounds likea disaster waiting to happen at best.
“I’ll let you maneuver everything into the truck,” shecounters. “But I’m doing the talking when we get there.”
“They’ll try to take advantage of you.”
“I’m not leaving you outside like a dog I’m just… notletting you threaten anyone you don’t have to.”
He hums low against her body, contemplating. “I can livewith that.”
“Good because I’m not giving you a choice here.”
He brushes his lips against her forehead, and for a momentshe can believe they’ll get through this intact. “Whatever you want.”

Sure, fine
I was tagged by @naryrising. Anyone else who wants to do the thing can. I don’t tag people on chain things.
Are you staying home from work/school?
I was already planning to spend the rest of the year cleaning out my mom’s old house as a full time thing.
If you’re staying home, who is with you?
My stepdad lives in the main house. I’m in a cottage in back.
Are you a homebody?
Yes. And I just moved at the beginning of April, so my stuff is still a mess, and my mom was a total packrat, and the garden hadn’t been worked in 10 years. I am so busy.
An event you were looking forward to that got canceled?
An in-person fannish tea party. But we did have a nice zoom call.
What movies have you watched recently?
Nothing.
What shows are you watching?
Nothing.
What music are you listening to?
BTS. I’m making my way through their back catalogue. So far, I find most of their old stuff reminiscent of the music I despised in the 90s. Their songs that have a heavy dose of rap and much bouncier rhythms are better. I like them for trashy fanfic and their music videos.
What are you reading?
Nothing.
What are you doing for self-care?
I’ve made significant progress on the garden. Unpacking and tidying is... underway... The kitchen is now reorganized enough that I can cook properly, and the tea is accessible, so I am now drinking my way through the excessive collection of somewhat stale tea.
People keep asking me about media, and I literally haven’t had time to consume anything since like early February. The only thing I did was listen to podfics of all of astolat’s Witcher fic while forcing myself through a horrendous apartment cleanout and move in March...
...I now own a PS4 and Witcher 3. That I haven’t even touched because my moving boxes are in the way. Kill me now.
