K.C. used to live in a group home while both of his parents were in jail, but moved back in with his mother after she had been released during his sophomore year, and after he was sure she was clean from her previous drug and alcohol addictions. In his preteen years, K.C.'s difficult background caused negative behavior including stealing cars. However, his behavior improved once he started attending Degrassi in Grade 9, K.C. was shown to be interested in sports, as he was on both the basketball and football teams. He was easily irritated and made reckless decisions when emotional, but was academically smart, as he was in the gifted program, and even became the captain for the academic quiz team.
