10 Generations. 10 Different Heroines. 1 Legacy. Welcome to the Literary Heroine Legacy Challenge! I’ve been itching for a good legacy to revive my love for the Sims 4, and I haven’t found one so I wrote one myself.  I was inspired after reading Emma— the family dynamics, drama, and romance were everything I ever wanted in a Sims challenge. So I modernized the stories and adapted them to fit this game.  Special shoutout to Designergirl81, who I met through MissLollypopSims’ Discord! The generations of Anne of Avonlea and Dorothy were their brainchildren. 💗 I designed each generation to reference a famous literary heroine. This is a very story-oriented challenge but feel free to bend, tweak, and change as much as you can! Basic Rules

Play on any life span you want but I recommend playing on Normal life span.

You are encouraged to play with female heirs. Of course, this is optional!

You are discouraged from using money cheats. Some generations have stories that are related to their social class— so try to stay true to the story as much as you can.

You can live wherever you want unless the generation states otherwise.

Feel free to customize each generation’s race and sexual orientation

Unless specifically stated, each generation has to finish their aspiration and career.

Even if most of these books are classics, I wrote this with a more modern take on it. You don’t need any mods or CC to fit the eras’ aesthetics— but if you want to, you totally can!

Generation 1: Elizabeth Bennett 📚 Do not consider me now as an elegant female, intending to play you, but as a rational creature, speaking the truth from her heart. 📚

It is a truth, universally acknowledged, that all Sims 4 challenges must start with an heir. In this case, that’s you, which is surprising because everyone else in your life has decided that you are plain, especially when compared to your other two sisters. Lately though, you start to sense that you’ve been getting more attention from your neighbors. One particular Sim hasn’t been able to leave you and your family alone… and you don’t like them at all, not one bit. Well… maybe just a bit.

Aspiration: Successful Lineage 

Traits: Family Oriented, Hot-Headed, Bookworm OR choose/roll for the last trait

Career: Journalist

→ Master the Writing skill. → Live in a rundown family home passed down by your parents with two sisters until you are married. → Have a negative relationship with a neighbor. → Reject a proposal from your work boyfriend. → Build a relationship with your neighbor after you reject the proposal of your ex. → Have a scandal involving one of your sisters that your neighbor supports you through. → Fall in love and marry this neighbor then move in with him. → Have two children.

Generation 2: Emma Woodhouse 💗  It is very difficult for the prosperous to be humble.  💗

Growing up, you were always the sheltered one. Your father was very protective of you, and therefore never let you out of his sight. Of course, that didn’t stop you from becoming well-loved by the entire town. You were known for throwing the best dinner parties and befriending everyone your father and mother knew. Needless to say, this got to your head a bit. You weren’t arrogant, you were confident. In everyone’s eyes, you could do no wrong. Well, everyone except your childhood best friend— who was never afraid to call you out for being a bit clueless at times. 

Aspiration: Neighborhood Confidante OR Party Animal

Traits: Self-Assured, High Maintenance, Music-Lover OR choose/roll for the last trait

Career: Romance Consultant or Lawyer

→ Master the Charisma and Piano skills. → Host at least 5 gold-star dinners. → Have a childhood best friend who’s a bit older than you. For example: When you’re 17 (end of teenage years), they’re already 20 (start of young adult years). * → You can’t have good friends who are your age until your childhood best friend ages up into a young adult. → Make a new friend that you treat like a “project” until you two fall out. Choose if you two will reconcile in the future. → Profess your love to your childhood best friend during a heated argument. → Marry your best friend and live with your mother and father in your childhood home until your parents die. Have one child. *It goes without saying to only get with your childhood best friend when the two sims are both young adults 🙂 No super uncomfortable age gaps, please.

Generation 3: Scarlett O’Hara ✨ “Tomorrow, I’ll think of some way to get him back.” ✨ All your life, you grew up spoiled. Your mother and father were so in love, and you almost expected to have a story as romantic and easy as theirs. However, when your high school flame elopes quickly with someone else right after graduation, you start to spiral. No longer able to get things your way, you begin to self-sabotage and jump from relationship to relationship. Deep down you know you should stop and smarten up but frankly, my dear, you don’t give a damn.

Aspiration: Soulmate— you fail this 

Traits: Materialistic, Genius, Jealous OR choose/roll for the last trait

Career: None until your divorce then become a Manual Laborer + Barista

⭐ Recommended Mods: Healthcare Redux Mod, Extreme Violence Mod

→ Don’t master any skill. → Have a high school flame who elopes with someone else. → Elope immediately with someone else. Have them die tragically.* → Marry another person quickly who you have bad compatibility with. Get negative romance with them right before they pass.* → Marry a third time. Have them catch you in a compromising moment with your high school flame, which leads to a divorce that leaves you with nothing. → End up working two part time jobs to keep your household running. → Have 4 kids with your 3 husbands (you can cheat for twins, if you want). *You decide how they die. I recommended having mods like the Healthcare Redux and Extreme Violence in your game for realistic roleplay reasons— but if he gets tragically eaten by a Cowplant that works too! 🙂

Generation 4: Jo March 🧾 “When the first soreness was over, she could laugh at her poor little book, yet believe in it still, and feel herself the wiser and stronger for the buffeting she had received.” 🧾 Growing up was not easy for you. Your childhood was incredibly unpredictable with your mother jumping from relationship-to-relationship. And when things started to stabilize emotionally, you ended up in poverty.  Luckily, you had your siblings to cling to, and a passion for writing that’s unmatched. You wrote a ton of things across different genres, except for romance which you didn’t quite understand. In fact, everyone always expected you to be a little woman, not rough or wild, but you knew in your heart that’s not what you were destined to become.

Aspiration: Best-Selling Author

Traits: Creative, Unflirty, and Ambitious OR choose/roll for the last trait

Career: Author

⭐ Recommended Mods: Writing Career Overhaul, SNB Banking

→ Master the Writing and Logic skills. → Be best friends with all of your siblings. → Start selling short stories as a teenager to help pay the bills. → Get a best friend in high school who professes their love to you during graduation. Turn them down. Optional: Have them marry one of your other siblings. → Move away to the city to focus on your writing. Always send 30% of your income to your mother until she dies. → Due to a tragedy in the family, adopt a child of one of your siblings.* → Win a Starlight Accolade for one of your novels. → Never marry but live a fulfilling life. *They are to be the next heir to preserve the bloodline. You can adopt more if you want.

Generation 5: Anne Shirley 📖 “I believe the nicest and sweetest days are not those on which anything very splendid or wonderful or exciting happens but just those that bring simple little pleasures, following one another softly, like pearls slipping off a string.” 📖 You were adopted by your aunt and lived a happy childhood. Despite being surrounded by family drama, you never let it dampen your spirit. You struggled with social cues and caused mayhem wherever you went— of course, that never stopped you from making your voice heard. You were, afterall, raised by someone who was never afraid to make a point. However, unlike your aunt, you always longed for romance. You always imagined big declarations of passion— but perhaps it’s time to learn that love creeps to one's side like an old friend through quiet ways.

Aspiration: Academic OR Soulmate

Traits: Romantic, Socially Awkward, and Loyal OR choose/roll for the last trait

Career: Education Career

⭐ Recommended Mod: Education Overhaul

→ Master the Research and Debate skill. → Have a childhood enemy that you become best friends with in high school. → Go to University and study Language and Literature. → Fall out with your best friend while in University. → Start dating someone you meet in University but break up right after graduation. → Get a job in the Education Career and write on the side. → Reconnect with your former best friend and realize you love them. → Get married to your best friend. → Retire from the Education career and become a freelance writer in your twilight years.

Generation 6: Nancy Drew 🔍 “I don't promise to forget the mystery, but I know I'll have a marvelous time.”  🔍 Every bedtime, your mother read you stories that she and your grandmother wrote. Among all of those, it’s your grandmother’s mysteries that impacted you the most. There was something so thrilling about being a heroic, fearless woman who helped others out. Because of this, you gained a bunch of friends who loved you very deeply. With their support, you grew up as a well-known detective who can solve any case.  It was a fun life, but you eventually settled down in Henford-On-Bagley to have a family of your own.

Aspiration: Friend of the World 

Traits: Generous, Nosy, and Outgoing OR choose/roll for the last trait

Career: Detective OR  ⭐ Zerbu’s Simvestigations Mod

→ Master the fitness skill. → Be close friends with both your parents. → Have 2 best friends who are either your roommates (Discover University) or live in the same apartment complex as you (For Rent) for your entire YA life. → Get engaged to someone you meet on-the-job. → Before marrying your fiance, go on a trip to Selvadorada with your 2 best friends and explore the Jungle Temples. → Settle down in Henford-On-Bagley and have a farm life of your own. → Never move away once you settle in Henford-On-Bagley.

Generation 7: Dorothy Gale 🐶 “If we walk far enough, we shall sometime come to someplace.”  🐶 Growing up you knew that there was more to the world than what was outside your own backdoor.  Afterall, your mother was a famous detective— if she went on her own adventures, why can’t you?

With her and your father’s support, you spend your young adult life traveling. You made some great friends along the way (and even some loves), but eventually you start to wonder if there is no place like home.

Aspiration: Local Aspirations— complete at least two

Traits: Adventurous, Dog Lover, and Loves Outdoors OR choose/roll for the last trait

Career: Any Freelance Career

→ Have a dog that goes everywhere with you. → Live in 3 or more worlds during your Young Adult life. → Make 3 best friends that each teach you a valuable life lesson. → After making your three best friends, use reward points to add the following traits: Brave, Savant, and Incredibly Friendly. → As an adult, realize you miss your family and return home. → Have a long distance relationship with the father of your children.

Generation 8: Wendy Darling 🌟 “She was a lovely lady, with a romantic mind and such a sweet mocking mouth. ”  🌟 You grew up waiting. First, for your father’s seasonal visits… which eventually stops when you become a teenager. Next, for the opportunity to leave Henford-on-Bagley to pursue your dreams of becoming an actress. And finally, for your first love, a man who refused to propose to you, no matter how long you waited for him to. Eventually you grew tired waiting and decided to grow up. You married a sensible man, had a child, and gave up your dreams of becoming an actress. Still, you held on to the dreams of your first love and end up reconnecting in a night of passion that leaves you pregnant with his child. Realizing that he’ll never grow up, you decide to dedicate your life to your family and husband.

Aspiration: Master Actor/Actress - you fail this or the⭐ Housewife Aspiration (after you marry)

Traits: Perfectionist, Proper, and Cheerful OR choose/roll for the last trait

Career: Actor/Actress

→ Master the Parenting skill. → Have a distant family dynamic with your father who never lives with you. → Join the drama club and meet your first love. Optional: He has the childish trait. → Give your first love all of your major romantic milestones. → Lose touch with your first love when you move to Del Sol Valley. → Marry a man you’d consider as sensible. Have one child with him. → Have a one time secret affair that results in another child. → Dedicate your life to your children afterwards.

Generation 9: Alice Liddell  🐰 “It would be so nice if something made sense for a change.”  🐰

There were times you felt like you never truly belonged anywhere. While everyone at home lived and abided by your parents’ rules, your head was always in the clouds. Sensibilities and propriety were never in your vocabulary, much to the disdain of your father and the rest of your siblings. Still, you were a free spirit that could never be controlled. After moving out as a young adult, you fell in love with cooking and mixology. You also met a group of misfits who were as different as you. Every Sunday, you’d host special “tea” parties with them, that broadened your worldview and made you realize that the world gets curiouser and curiouser with each passing day.

Aspiration: Master Mixologist or Master Chef

Traits: Clumsy, Foodie, and Childish OR choose/roll for the last trait

Career: Culinary Career

⭐ Recommended Mods: Basemental, Grannies Cookbook, Open Love Life

→ Master the Cooking and Mixology Skills. → Have a juice/nectar hobby on the side. → Have a club with people who have weird or eccentric traits.* → Fall in love with someone with the Erratic Trait. → Host “tea” parties every Sunday in your own home. ⭐ Optional: Use the Basemental Mods and have your Sims get high on dope/drunk on alcohol during the tea parties. → Dye your hair a different, brighter color. → Live in a quirky and colorful house. → Befriend a rabbit who you talk to constantly. Name them The Mad Hatter. → ⭐ Optional: Be in a polyamorous relationship with Romantic Boundaries OR the Open Love Life Mod → Have two children. *You decide what weird and eccentric means.

Generation 10: Countess Ellen Olenska  🎨 “The real loneliness is living among all these people who only ask one to pretend.”  🎨

You appreciated your mother’s lifestyle. You saw the world for what it could become, and not what everyone wanted it to be. However, you worried about your younger sister. You saw her innocence and wanted to protect it. When you turned into a young adult, you moved away and took your sister with you to start anew. However, life was not always easy. Straight out of teenhood, you married someone from a different city and had a tumultuous relationship with him. You separate with him and continue to care for your sister. You’re able to provide for her through your paintings, which also brought you a lot of fame. When she grew up into a Young Adult, she formed an attachment with a man that… intrigued you. She married him. This kept him in your life, but made it difficult for you to ignore your feelings. One night, you find yourself alone together, and you must make a choice: stay with him and break your sister's heart, or leave forever to give them peace. You have a price to pay either way— we can't behave like people in novels without consequence, can we?

Aspiration: Painter Extraordinaire

Traits: Gloomy, Art Lover, and Family Oriented OR choose/roll for the last trait

Career: Critic 

⭐ Recommended Mods: RPO, Wonderful Whims, Custom Relationship Bits, Soulmates

→ Master the Painting Skill. → Become a Level 3 Celebrity with your paintings. → Marry someone who isn’t your soulmate straight out of high school. Have a negative relationship with him before separating. ⭐ Optional: Only temporarily separate with him using the RPO Mod. → Be best friends with your sister. → Become soulmates with the partner of your sister without consummating the relationship. → When you’re an adult, invite your sister’s partner over, and make a choice— woohoo together and break your sister's heart, or end the emotional affair. → If you woohoo together - Tell your sister the next day and become enemies. Name your child after them. → If you end the emotional affair - Move away from your love and get back together with your ex-husband. Die without having your own children.

Keeping Lag to a Minimum...

I was chatting about a few things I do to combat lag over on discord and realised I do quite a bit of maintenance to reduce lag/load times. I decided to write em all down and before I knew it, I had a big ol' list. Here's hoping it helps!

Save/File Tips:

Clear your caches (located in the same spot as your mod folder fyi) I usually delete the onlinethumbnailcache, avatarcache and localthumbcache caches every time I exit the game, the main one to delete regularly is the localthumbcache file, they're just temporary files but it can get pretty big after a while.. if you're having any mod issues, particularly ui ones, it's always worth deleting that to see if it helps.

Remove any saves you're not using from your saves folder, and keep an eye on save file sizes. In my experience, any saves over around 30-40mb start to get a bit laggy. Things that bump this size up are the amount of townies in game and the amount of lots/objects in the world.

Regarding the above point, I regularly bulldoze lots I don't need anymore, just to save the game from having to cope with extra shit to load in the background and reduce save file bloat.

Similarly, I delete a lot of unnecessary townies. Also, try to keep the amount of outfits on townies to a minimum, ain't no townie need four swimsuit outfits, the game will thank you..

If you have cheats enabled you can usually shift-click/delete object on things like random coffee cups or stray cupcakes sims foolishly drop around the world (or eat em.. whatever tickles ur pickle) just get rid!

Whilst we're keeping objects in game to a minimum.. I try to clear sims inventories now and then, including townies. You can do this via mccc even if you're not currently playing that household by heading to MC Cleaner -> Sell Sim Inventory/Sell Household Inventory. RANDOM LUMPS OF CLAY BEGONE!

Think of a save file like a lot.. the more objects in it, the laggier it gets! Try your best to remove anything or anyone unnecessary where you can.

Hit "Save As" instead of "Save" now and then - the more you overwrite a save, the more chance it has of going wonky, treat your game to a fresh one now and then and remove the old one from your saves folder (maybe don't delete it right away in case you wanna roll back, keep it somewhere safe).

If you can (although ik it can be a pain) set up a new/fresh save, you'd be surprised how bogged down old ones can get! For legacy players, it's usually best to do this whenever you have a small family to save yourself some pain, since you can just save the household and take em to a new save (you will lose sims inventories/household inventories/relationships with sims outside the household tho so beware! Pictures/other collectables can be saved to a lot however, and you can always cheat back relationship bits etc.. bit of a last resort but new saves are shiny and fast!)

Make sure your Screenshots/Video folders are empty - move em somewhere else, it works, trust me. If you have a lot of custom music installed try n' clear some of those out too.. the smaller that Sims 4 directory is, the better.

Delete any last exceptions/last crashes (same spot as your mod folder again) you don't need em unless you're planning to upload em somewhere for help.

Settings Etc:

If you get a bad lag spike, opening the main menu and/or saving can randomly stop this. If it doesn't, try exiting the game, clearing your localthumbcache and restarting.

Clearing all notifications from the game panel can also help.

If you can, close all other apps and background apps you don't need whilst playing, ts4 is super memory hungry so it can definitely help.

The GraphicsRules Override file by Simp4Sims can reduce lag/latency and make your game look a little better in the process!

Srslysims Simulation Lag Fix mod can help reduce lag too (if you've altered the game speed via mccc tho, don't use this unless you plan on resetting it to default).

If you aren't keen on, or barely use a pack, consider disabling it.

Not ideal, especially for those of us taking screenshots, but lowering the graphics settings whilst playing definitely helps.

If you use re/g-shade, consider switching it off whilst playing and only turn it on for screenshots.

A clean and tidy pc/laptop runs better in general. Remove anything you're not using/don't need anymore to free up space, remove temp files, clean up your folders now and again etc etc.. especially that dreaded mod folder, speaking of...

Managing Mods:

SORT OUT YOUR MODS FOLDER FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.. skdsjdjs it doesn't have to be immaculate but at the very least try n' clear it out now n' then. Also try to separate your script mods/overrides from the rest, patch days don't need to be so stressful ;-;

Personally, I don't merge my mods; if something breaks it's much harder to pinpoint! It makes it easier to find/delete specific mods too.. and let's face it, there's usually one or two items in that set you could do without lmaooo.. also, don't think it helps much tbh! Yeah you could say the game doesn't have to work as hard to load merged files but that's debatable, it's still the same amount of items/polys at the end of the day ¯\(°_o)/¯

If you like merging files and/or see results from doing so, you can merge stuff you definitely know you're never getting rid of, especially CAS/BB stuff.. but steer clear of merging gameplay/script mods! If a merged file seems to be the culprit when using the 50/50 method, try unmerging it and 50/50ing it again! You might not need to get rid of everything if something's borked.

Bulk Rename Utility can be used to remove all spaces and special characters from your mod files, the game doesn't particularly like loading those so it'll thank you.

The Sims 4 Mod Manager is a great way to sort through your mods, you can easily see, move and delete files from here (not great for build/buy, poses etc as thumbnails are usually missing, but great for CAS stuff). An extra hint with this that I've noticed is that if any of my mods get renamed with [D1] at the beginning after looking through them via the mod manager, it means it's a duplicate file so you can get rid.

I also use the Sims 4 Tray Importer to help me sort through mods. Simply save a sim/lot with any cc you don't want and find it in the importer, you can then go through all the cc in the cc tab and delete/sort it (I also use this to sort cc if a bunch has the wrong tags etc, makes it easier to find in my folders by saving em to a lot or w/e - it also spots duplicates which is handy).

It's a ballache, but the 50/50 method is tried and tested if you're having issues.

I like to keep an abandoned cc folder tucked away somewhere, that way you can remove mods willy nilly without stressing about losing them. If you change your mind, you can always grab it back!

currently sitting at five generations, but plan to add more in the future

the point of this legacy is to not have such a cut & dry legacy. i wanted to like be able to roll a number and like have to go down a certain life path that is given. this was mainly created bc when i watch lets plays i never want to play the actual legacy bc i have already seen it done so i wanted to do something where like there’s a possibility that everyone plays it differently. the endings/pathways are endless.

SOME RULES & INFO:

use a number generator for every given path.

you can use cheats but nothing going overboard, it is preferred to cheat as little (we know how glitchy the sims are sometimes) as possible especially for the first generation.

some generations require/recommend cc traits & mods, i will have them all linked for each generation.

there is a chance where you’ll come across a repeat aspiration or career, if you want you can just roll again if there is more than two life paths or just play the opposing path

So recently MTG had to ban the vampire card Vein Ripper because it could be cheated into play on turn three by Sorin, Imperious Bloodlord, all because Vein Ripper is a vampire. Looking at the combo, the combo appears really obvious. My question is, do designers not keep some book of warnings for future designers to avoid potentially broken combinations? For example, a searchable word document that says “be careful making an item that does X because of Y existing item”?

Nah. Trying to do this basically results in hopelessness because there's no end to it where you need to design a couple hundred new and different cards every year. It's such a combinatoric explosion and there are so many potential interactions that it quickly becomes an unsustainable mess. It's generally better to look at how things work and adjust as you go, since there's just too much complexity for any single designer (or even design team) to know about. You do your best and you adjust as you go. That's the best you can really hope for.

Let's also be clear - Wizards of the Coast didn't ban Vein Ripper at all. Vein Ripper is still legal in every format. WotC banned Sorin Imperious Bloodlord in the one format (Pioneer) that they felt it was overpowered (and Explorer, the online-only format version of Pioneer), because nobody cares if a 6/5 flyer comes down for "free" on turn three in Modern or Legacy when even a 20/20 indestructible flyer two-card combo on turn two isn't strong enough. In this kind of situation, Sorin was the combo enabler and Vein Ripper was just the nastiest free vampire that was in the format for Sorin to drop. Banning Vein Ripper would only be a temporary measure until the next big nasty vampire entered the format that could drop on turn three.

THE LUNAR LEGACY CHALLENGE ☾ ⋆*

this is an 8-generation legacy challenge for the sims 3 based on a handful of interesting facts about a handful of moons in our solar system! (created by yours truly, confrighten)

☾ things to note:

this challenge was made with all expansion packs in mind.

normal lifespan is recommended, but if you prefer something different, go for it!

there are no world requirements for this challenge, so you can live wherever you’d like.

you are not required to follow standard legacy rules (i.e. 64x64 lot, $1800 starting, etc.), but feel free to do so for an extra challenge!

☾ generation 1 - THE moon

fact(s): earth’s moon, otherwise known simply as “the moon,” was the first moon in our solar system to be discovered! inquiry. analysis. discovery! your mind is ablaze with the possibilities of the universe, so you dedicate your life to science. you keep your circle small, but your bonds are unyielding. you’re a pioneer in every sense, equipped with the brains and heart of a legacy founder.

traits: loner, genius, nurturing, lucky, night owl

lifetime wish: scientific specialist

tasks:

reach level 10 of the science career.

master the science skill.

master the logic skill.

complete the “celestial explorer” logic skill challenge.

become a partner and eventually buy out the science facility.

have a best friend.

→ hang out with said best friend at least twice a week.

→ remain best friends until one of you dies.

have a “perfect marriage,” no cheating and no divorce.

have as many children as you wish!

☾ generation 2 - europa (yer・oh・puh)

fact(s): europa is the fourth largest of jupiter’s 95 moons and holds twice as much water as earth’s global ocean beneath its icy surface! after a lifetime of success, your parent has passed the torch to you. you’re brimming with potential, but the added pressure of comparison has made you a (paranoid) perfectionist. you play top dog with your coworkers, but outside of work, your only friends are your kids, whom you love more than anything. 

traits: shy, family-oriented, neurotic, schmoozer, perfectionist

lifetime wish: ceo of a mega corporation

tasks:

reach level 10 of the business career.

befriend all of your coworkers.

master the painting skill.

get married as a young adult to your high school sweetheart.

☾ generation 3 - enceladus (en・seh・luh・duhs)

fact(s): unlike europa, enceladus’ ocean is not wholly contained beneath its surface. in fact, this celestial body sprays water into space! you let everything out - the good, the bad, and the ugly. as a child, you were overindulged, made to want for nothing by your doting parents. so now, as an adult, you overshare, overspend, and overstep - completely oblivious to the world around you. you’ve got a lot to give… but also a lot to learn. not everyone grew up like you, and your actions have consequences.

traits: hopeless romantic, over-emotional, good, inappropriate, slob

lifetime wish: player's choice!

tasks:

have 3 friends as a child.

→ become disliked by all 3 as a teenager.

→ rekindle your friendship with 1 of them as a young adult.

never get a job (not even a self-employed career).

have at least 3 failed relationships, beginning as a teen.

→ these can be with boyfriends/girlfriends and/or spouses.

→ you can get married at any point in this generation, but you don't have to.

☾ generation 4 - charon (keh・ruhn)

fact(s): named after the ferryman of the dead in greek mythology, charon is the largest of pluto’s five moons, weighing in at over half the size of its parent body! in fact, because charon and pluto are so similar in size, they are often referred to as a “double dwarf planet system.” let’s face it: luck has never been on your side. your parent's negligence taught you to be resourceful from a young age, but as you’ve grown, their continued disinterest has made you bitter. thankfully, you have your older sibling. they just get you, and though you’ve often lived in their shadow, they have never left you behind. at least, not until the accident...

there are a few specific rules for this generation:

you may not have any friends outside of your sibling as a child/teen.

you can have a romantic partner at any point, but you may not get married until you have resurrected your sibling.

traits: unlucky, green thumb, sailor, gatherer, grumpy

lifetime wish: renaissance sim

tasks:

have a strained relationship with the previous heir.

→ what kind of relationship you have with your other parent is up to you!

become life-long, best friends with your sibling.

→ share a room through your childhood and teenage years

→ group up and go out with your sibling at least once a week.

have your sibling die in a mysterious accident when you are a young adult.

→ you can do this however you’d like (including mods)! do whatever works best for your storyline.

dedicate your life to creating ambrosia, and bring your sibling back to life.

master the cooking, gardening, and fishing skills.

have at least 2 children.

own a sailboat.

fact(s): callisto is the most heavily cratered object in our solar system and the darkest of jupiter’s 4 galilean moons. well, it’s safe to say that seeing your relative rise from the dead had a profound impact on your developing mind. you’ve become enthralled by the supernatural but remain troubled by the fluidity of death. so, while fighting the urge to contemplate life’s futility, you let yourself be consumed by your studies - even to the point of self-transformation.

traits: brooding, supernatural fan, bookworm, brave, easily impressed

lifetime wish: professional author

tasks:

reach level 5 of the journalism career.

quit your job, and join the self-employed writer career.

write horror, mystery, and poetry novels exclusively.

master the writing and alchemy skills.

visit a supernatural hangout lot every saturday night.

marry a supernatural sim.

have at least 1 child.

become a supernatural of your choice using a potion that you have crafted!

☾ generation 6 - io (eye・oh)

fact(s): io is the most volcanically active body in our solar system! though you’ve inherited your parent’s passion, you’ve never understood how they could devote their life to one thing, or anything for that matter. to you, life is too short to settle. you crave the adrenaline that comes with ruining your own life. whether it’s in relationships, careers, or hobbies, you just can’t seem to sit still. you’re not a bad person; you just make really, really bad choices.

traits: hot-headed, commitment issues, flirty, athletic, daredevil

lifetime wish: heartbreaker 

tasks:

begin your romantic endeavors as a teen.

reach level 6 of the firefighter profession.

have a blowup fight with a coworker and quit on the spot.

get married as a young adult.

have an affair, and get divorced.

→ if you have more than one child, you can kick your spouse out with a couple of them, but you must keep at least 1.

break up another sim’s relationship and then marry them.

have at least 1 child from each of your marriages.

reach (at least) level 5 in 4 skills of your choice.

have held 3 different jobs over the course of your life (including firefighting).

have at least 3 enemies.

own a motorcycle.

☾ generation 7 - ganymede (gan・nuh・meed)

fact(s): ganymede is the only known moon to have its own magnetic field! life is all about appearances! and because of your parent’s reputation, you’ve got a lot of cleaning up to do. so, you land a job in politics and decide to dedicate your life to the pursuit of public approval. before long, you’re making great strides in bettering your community, and sims all over town are singing your praises! you’re loving the limelight! what you haven’t accounted for, however, is how fragile others’ admiration can be - especially after a gnarly scandal…

traits: charismatic, irresistible, party animal, ambitious, social butterfly

lifetime wish: super popular

tasks:

join ballet as a child.

join drama and debate club as a teen.

have a high school romance.

have at least 1 child out of wedlock.

→  this can be with your high school sweetheart, but it doesn’t have to be.

→  this child (or one of these children) will become the next heir.

get married to your baby’s/babies’ mother/father.

reach level 7 of the political career, then adopt a toddler.

→  parade them around at every campaign fundraiser.

if you are invited to a party, you must either attend said party or throw a party of your own at the same time.

master the charisma skill.

master either the mixology or nectar-making skill.

reach level 10 of the political career.

☾ generation 8 - triton

fact(s): triton is the only sizable moon in our solar system to orbit in the opposite direction of its parent planet’s rotation! growing up in the public eye isn’t for everyone, and it certainly wasn’t for you. as a child, though you often felt misunderstood, you held fast to your sense of self and rejected public perception - no matter the consequence. you find solace in artistic expression, but your methods are lost on your peers, your talents obscured by your delinquency. even so, you stay true to yourself. you know your worth, and with time, the world will know it too.

traits: rebellious, childish, avant-garde, loner, kleptomaniac 

lifetime wish: player’s choice!

tasks: 

develop the rebellious trait as a child.

pull pranks, skip school, dodge your homework, etc. throughout your childhood and teen years.

have a close relationship with the heir of generation 6 and a strained relationship with the previous heir.

→  you can skip this one if they die before the heir becomes a child.

develop the childish trait as a young adult.

get a part-time job of your choice.

master the street art skill, and reach max influence with the rebel social group.

quit your part-time job, and join the art appraiser career.

complete the “always wanted” street art skill challenge.

Fresh out of MSQ thoughts.

It was... good. I hesitate to place it higher than that, but it was, in fact, good. My low expectations going in probably helped me say that much.

Wuk Lamat grows on you. She grows as a character too. I was a bit mixed on her at first. Look I read MHA fanfic because sometimes people explore the canon better and thus the mind of the characters. And... honestly, that's how I went into this. As I said, the worldbuilding for Tural is some of the best I've seen in game. Someone in one of my discord servers said that the Rite of Succession isn't a test, it's a lesson, and they're 100% right. It's all but stated very early on when you fight with Gulool Ja Ja. He asks for a frank opinion on Lamat, and you can be blunt or polite about her inexperience, and he emphasizes yet. But because she has a big heart and chooses to learn of the struggles and culture beyond the city she spent most of her life in, she grows. And while she's still a bit green, she made the decision to ask her brother to be by her side as co-ruler.

And I've said before that I felt Dawntrail would probably be where Lin's story and MSQ being the same ends and...

Yeah, think I'm sticking with that.

But it's because the themes of the story fit well for a last major story. It's about legacy. The WoL is in an advisory role to Wuk Lamat through the Rite of Succession, and then the back half is all about what we leave behind. (Sidenote: "May their memory be a blessing" is not meant as a hard drive. The Yok Huy got it right, not the Alexandrians)

And while I think Lin may parallel some of the upcoming threads, it's also clear it works as an ending if you want it to be one. Lin is in a place post-Endwalker of knowing there's few, if any, threats that she personally needs to care for, and she would rather guide a new generation forward in her place. She's the bearer of Azem's soul and crystal, but there doesn't need to be one Azem. She knows what happens when there is.

Teri... I suspect will hew closer to MSQ. It's not the last step. She also, having born the brunt of a solo Azem life, would be looking for several people who aren't simply her assistants, but Travelers in their own right. And for her, that's what the next journey will be.

The twists... didn't really work for me too much. "Cahcia is dead all along." She's been all but saying it. "Sphene is evil" Yep she's been giving those vibes and they didn't hide it well despite Sphene's first scene being unvoice and she doesn't physically appear.

I think even in the end Wuk Lamat is a little too forgiveness happy. She forgives both Bakool Ja Ja and Sphene and... I don't really have it in me for either. I understand narratively, but Bakool Ja Ja literally released Valigarmanda as a clear "Dick Dastardly Stops to Cheat" moment and Sphene well... -Gestures to her misunderstanding of "As long as they're in our memory, they're not fully dead" belief-

Also, seeing James Day as Otis didn't quite surprise me. Like. Otis isn't a huge character. Bigger than Thaliak, but not huge. But I knew he was going to return. And he clearly had so much fun. I didn't know it was him, but I knew whoever was voicing this Steiner Expy was having the time of their life playing this man.

OC Families Part 1

All of these images are made in picrew... I didn't do all of my ocs yet but I shared a ton of these on Discord... so I will share them here too. However keep in mind I might share less info than there cause some of it is... sensitive content. I will still mention some more abusive parents too so keep that in mind. Leroy, Henry and Mellows are already here... with that said lets start.

Matthew and Yunora Atsuki

Parents of Lyla and Eikichi Atsuki, Dad was a scientist, mom was a Jazz singer and both inspired their children a lot on their kids... they were proud parents however also quite busy hence why their kids grew up becoming such scaredy cats not haveing their guidance... but at least they had their love.

Aurelia and Reginald Parton

Parents of Barry and Paula, Reginald Parton is one of the most influencial and Rich men in the world while Aurelia his wife only really married him for his money... both are the reason why Barry was forced into this terrible view of not being able to live out other sexualities, having this toxic masculity and because they surpressed so much... Paula also left them to pursue herself and not be chained down anymore... Barry just wants their praise and love but... they even deem him replacable as an heir if he makes them too much trouble.

Joseph Dalton

Joseph Dalton…. there is a reason Francine takes care of her siblings… he tries hard to work multiple jobs to provide his family but… trauma still hits deep…. he often looks tired, barely smiles… Francine worries about him a lot, he is also still kinda trapped in this friendship with Mr parton who often uses their old bond to guilttrip him.

Nozomi and Tetsuya Aimon

Nozomi and Tetsuya Aimon… Parents of Yasuno and Yuzuha… Basically Tetsuya was a well off dad with money who at least was kind to his sons and worked hard day and night to provide his sons but was a pushover…their mom used that to just stay home, enjoy the lifestyle, not care about her sons and cheat on her husband a lot…. if the boys noticed they were usually threatned with violence not to tell on their father….

After Yasunos death… Tetsuya finally noticed the machinations of his wife and wanted to take Yuzuha with him to live alone… which is where they are now… Yuzuha however knew from his mom how to get the money needed to survive… hence his career choice as well. Yasuno after Revival changed his name to Innochi so his parents can't find him not knowing what happened and Yuzuha… well dad is now very done with his body and has troubles to keep on too.

Kaiyo and Hiroshi Suzanomoto

Parents of Kaeru, Kaiyo may be small but she still managed to have 5 kids with Kaeru being the oldest of them keeping the Legacy to the fishing business… Hiroshi is still going out fishing with his kids while Kaiyo often plays around with dishes or guides people around the city. Their family in general is very huge and infamously known everywhere cause of their kindness.

Vierunar Family

Atmos and Nephy Vierunar, Fabios parents kinda seem gruff and intimidating yet are genuine sweethearts who want thei kids to live to the fullest. They even approved of his situation as he actually wanted to leave the village in canon. Atmos is a healer while Nephy is a guardian for their Village... and they had Several kids:

Janic, Julie, June, Marton and Sebby, Fabios dearest siblings who work hard to still tend to the village and continue the legacy of the forrests will.

Louis Family that passed

Clementine and Remy Armarin... a sweet Noble pair that use their status to help many people in poverty to have a better life, they were proud of their vegetable garden as well as distributed some of it to the people who had troubles in town... however one day as Louis and Ava, his sister, went outside to play they came back to find their parents laying on the floor... lifeless and poisoned... since then Louis had to take care of Ava alone in this empty noble house that became abandoned after their parents death.

Ava Aminella Valentine was Louis little sister he held dearly... however it got harder and harder to take care of her with him being still to young to take on a job and tend to her sickness that developed... and one day as he went out to get her medicine... she was gone when he came back, left the house cause she wanted to repair a gift he made her a while ago and... the cold winter was to strong... as Louis found her she was dead... of hypothermia.

Carols family

Catherine Ann and Jonathan Ann are very much your standard married couple... Jonathan works in a Machine factory while Carols mom is a housewife who spends a lot of time sewing and knitting stuff as a hobby... her sister Megan ann is part of the Police force and is a reason Carol has a moral code that is high. In all she had a loving and sweet family if not a little overprotective.

1. What’s your favorite sims death? None! Can't my sims live forever? If they have to pass, it would be due to old age.

2. Alpha CC or Maxis Match? 100% Maxis Match

3. Do you cheat when your sims gain weight? I usually just put them on the treadmill. I don't think that's cheating? lol

4. Do you use move objects? Yes and often. It's the only way I can give my sims decent landscaped yards.

5. Favorite mod? Definitely Senni's Maxis' High Res Default Feet. They look so much better than what's in game currently and I just don't understand why Maxis didn't finish them.

6. First expansion/game/stuff pack you got? The Sims: Livin' Large... I feel old now. Hahaha!

7. Do you pronounce “live mode” like aLIVE or LIVing? aLIVE

8. Who’s your favorite sim that you’ve made? Hmm... This is a tough one. It's a tie between two of my legacy founders, Either Cliff Rhodes or Aubergine Fresh. Both sims are very handsome, super sweet, and fun to play.

9. Have you made a simself? Yes and he's uploaded to the Gallery.

10. What sim traits do you give yourself? Creative, Romantic, and Geek.

11. Which is your favorite EA hair color? Medium Brown

12. Favorite EA hair? The men's short haircut that's curly on top from Cottage Living.

14. Are you a builder or are you in it for the gameplay? My building skills are basic, but adequate. So, I would that I'm definitely in it for the gameplay.

17. What’s your favorite game? (1, 2, 3, or 4)? This might be a bit unpopular, but The Sims 4 is without a doubt my favorite.

20. How has your “sim style” changed throughout your years of playing? I don’t know if it has. I've always created cute, maxis match sims with family-oriented goals/traits for playing the legacy challenge.

I was tagged by @autonomousllama and @cactusblossom, thank you both for tagging me and I guess I am getting at this late but here it is!

What’s your favourite Sims death?

The old age death because it means a sim has lived like and are gently passing on! I also love that they give a little salute like “It was fun while it lasted but PEACE!” if I have a chance to give a salute and famous last words before I die I know I would!

Alpha CC or Maxis Match?

Maxis Match not because it looks better but because it blends in with the game.

Do you cheat your sims weight?

Never! 

Do you use move objects?

I imagine it is hard not to when you are a competitive sims player lol.

Favourite Mod?

Hmmm, this is hard. I will say Wicked Whims though. I know, I know, you all think i’m super horny over here but really sex is a big part of life it is, one can argue, one of the most important aspects of life itself as one must have sex to create life (kind of at least) so WW really expands on that. Just get rid of the sex animations it adds, ignore that completely, it still adds an indepth menstrual system, attraction system, fertility system, etc! 

WW actually determines how many kids my sims will have for example since some are naturally more fertile than others so yeah!

2nd place is MC Command which is great for just having more control. I mostly use that to make over townies when I see them lol.

Oooh, I actually don’t make many sims since I play legacy and just rely on genetics but I will say Araceli! I made her when I relaunched a legacy and I spent so much time on her! I loved her! I thought of bringing her back in some form so we might not have seen the last of her actually!

I have for the fun of it but i’ve never played it. I hardly make myself in games. I just always think of a character I guess.

Dark brown.

If you go back I had a vampire in my story named Edda, she wears it. It’s the real short one but ummm, the short one. Most people know by now I do love short hair lol

Young Adult! EA just put all the fun in that phase though.

I’ve been a Sims 4 OG as the kids would like to say and my simblr has really flunctuated in all that time. I’ve had posts getting 100s of likes to now just around 10 lol, I’ve come full circle!

It’s kind of sad because @floofymilk-blog was a real good online friend I had known for years and she was someone you saw constantly liking my posts and commenting at first and she has completely disappeared from like...everything. So yeah T_T, from discord, from steam, from switch, and I always wonder what happened to her and seeing that post and seeing her in the notes there just makes me sad but...she was the biggest AC fan I’ve ever known T_T and a big Sims fan too!

She was Japanese and disappeared before the release of Snowy Escape and I wonder if she would have loved that pack :/

How do you edit your pictures?

I used to do A LOT more but honestly, I just gave up lol. Now I just use a reshade, add a border, and move on. Lazy, I guess? But I’m posting legacy content. What is called a Plotacy. If I hung up on editing every single picture it would slow me down a ton. You can see the story content I tried it was a lot more edited!

Family Member Traits

This is a set of eight very simple traits to track your legacy families. They are inherited from parent to child and all it does it give them a trait called so that you will know which sims your sim is related to after you've lost track, or just to have it there. There is no added effect from being near family--your sims can have a close or difficult relationship without this trait affecting your story.

The traits included are:

Kinfolk

The Descendants

The Lineage

The Dynasty

The Legacy

If you want to customize the trait names that are available in your game, I made a tutorial here. It won't work for the original Family Member trait, for technical reasons--if you use it for clubs, like I do, it would very likely break that.

For your founder (or any sim you're applying it to manually), you can find the Family Member reward traits in the reward store for 100 Satisfaction Points, or you can cheat it on to them (for example, by using MCCC > MC CAS, or you can turn on testing cheats and use a cheat like 'traits.equip_trait amethyst_lilac:family_member_reward_trait_basic').

Then, when they have biological children, they will inherit the trait. From Owen down to baby Tabitha.

If you use Show/Search Sim Info (updated by Frankk https://frankkmods.com/#/mods/show-sim-info), you can search all sims in the world to find your family.

The traits are Base Game Compatible. They are not valid for reincarnation.

There are now custom strings for all except the original Family Member trait. They are currently all in English.

To have the traits appear in the reward store or be inheritable, you NEED Lot51's Core Library (https://lot51.cc/core). Otherwise you will need to cheat the trait on, and it will be cosmetic only (no inheritance). But if you want to use it for that, feel free.

They are not mutually exclusive--if you have two sims with different family member traits have a baby, the child should have both traits.

It DOES apply to science babies.

It does NOT apply to pre-existing children, children made in CAS, adopted children, or relationships created in any other way then birth or science baby, but you can manually add the traits to them in live mode.

Not required, but a fun addition: Chingyu has updated their Club Filters mod and included this trait (currently only the original Family Member trait). So you can have a club for only sims with the Family Member trait! Grab that from here https://www.patreon.com/posts/add-on-custom-in-45879470 if you want to do that! Make sure to update Core Library and to unzip the folder! (You should have amethyst_Family Reward Trait.package in your mods folder, not the zip)

March 4, 2025, part 2: After consulting with Chingyu, I learned that altering the internal name of the original trait won't break anything, so you can now customize that one too. If you've already made an override, you'll need to update that if you update the trait.
