Given that the very first thing Father Christmas *did* once he got back into Narnia was to gift Rare and Powerful Magical Weapons to the people destined to defeat Jadis, she probably had a Very Good Reason to keep him out, LOL
And the Forest Between Worlds place *was* brought up again in passing in the last book - IIRC the Pevensies were trying to get back to Narnia & one of them retrieved the Rings to do it that way, but they all got hit by a train instead.
narnia has actually way too many completely devastating concepts in it that are not explored At All

It's looking like there's a growing divide between Campaign watchers and Tlovm watchers in terms of like. We're here for the characters. 12-episode seasons aren't. They can't be. I'm already making peace with everything we'll lose in the Mighty Nein show, and I know I will enjoy it for what it is but I also know that almost nothing that made the story so special will translate to the screen, because turning it into a show automatically means (in this day and age) that plot must be the number one priority. They've already come out and told us it's going to be different, the characters we know and love but new stories.
Because that's how this has to work. And I feel bad for campaign one lovers, because while it is certainly the easier of the two to translate to a big, overarching story, even though it's a more "traditional" high fantasy story with easier archetypal characters, the archetypes and the plot aren't what cemented most people's love for the campaign. So much of the love for critical role is stored in the interpersonal dynamics and the payoff that comes from hundreds of hours of tiny interactions that one day become cornerstones of development and even affect or dictate the plot.
There's no room for that. There's no room for Bard's Lament in a story that cannot afford to remove and replace a main character. A lot of tlovm is for people who have been here for all of campaign one. Most of it, however, isn't. It's for a new crowd. While CR may have creative control, you can bet your ass that there were months and years devoted to figuring out how to map a character-focused love of the show into a plot that hits the right beats to be viable in the show market.
And it worked. Tlovm has consistently high viewing numbers, and its popularity has brought and will continue to bring new people into the universe who have never interacted with CR previously. That's not a bad thing - imagine finishing your favorite show and discovering it has another FIVE HUNDRED HOURS of the equivalent of behind the scenes content. That's incredible for these newcomers. But man, it is in many ways a loss for us.
#Tlovm spoilers#In some ways it's like looking into a dark mirror#And this is again with a story that's relatively easy to plot with clear arcs and themes#The mighty Nein was a sandbox that was entirely character driven in terms of where they went and what they did#It has a few loose arcs but even the fact that molly died so early#The fact that he haunts the remainder of the show#That's going to be lost. Its impact on Yasha and on beau who spends the rest of the campaign looking for a chance to do what he did#The fact that his death tied narratively into Caleb getting the spell for their hut - their home - and nearly crying#Knowing he had a way to keep them safe after they lost one#None of that is plottable#I'm losing my thread of thought and I have to work but. I don't even know if sad is the right word#Because CR has gotten so far. So much further than anything of its kind.#There is much joy here and I will adore seeing the Nein#But it's okay to acknowledge that capitalism strips away the ability to focus on the heart of critical role#And that's why the live play media is so special#That's literally what makes it special and what makes the story so impactful#Critical role

I am so disgusted with how Ncuti was handled as the doctor. The first queer and the first POC doctor and he only got 18 episodes (2 of which are incredibly doctor lite so in reality it's more like 16 episodes.) And they managed to completely underutilise him throughout the entire time. Not to mention all the loose plot threads. He never got to reunite with Rogue (meaning until further notice the other queer character in this run in fridged in a hell dimension because the doctor never bothered to go looking for him???), The gods haven't been properly defeated, Susan never returned and Miss Flood is still out in the universe causing mayhem.
Overall it was an incredibly short and weak run which failed to wrap up all but 2 of its story threads and just left me feeling that Ncuti was robbed so hard by the writers.
Not to mention that his run began and has now ended with him being overshadowed by two incredibly big Doctor who actors.
#I'm so mad#so many loose plot threads#so much wasted potential#he deserved so much more#Amazing actor terrible writer#doctor who#15th doctor

The only thing I'm really salty about in sunset x vibes is how they have dropped the nerdy Sam. I just want his glasses back and for him to drop that ridiculous pony tail
#the show itself is okay and i like the characters#but the plot is not very well built like there are lots of loose threads#captainshorter watches#sunset x vibes

An obstacle of having major backstory plot points happen in a country no one can remember: Having NO blinding clue how to integrate that info into the main storyline.
#cousins came in clutch with wine and now I'm having Story Plotting Feelings#i've had the major catalyst for the Forgotten Island going into uber-quarantine planned since chapter 1#in the original outline draft Rose was going to be lucid and talk to Siffrin and he would get Answers from her#her name was also Silver originally i changed it to Rose in the 3rd outline draft#and she was still undead and Siffrin was Going to Learn Things they vowed their party could NEVER figure out#but then i changed that and then Siffrin and Odile were supposed to Learn These Things during the barn fire chapter#(the Vampire Hunter commenter was close to what's going on)#but then they didn't bcoz any dialogue i tried to shove in fucked up the narrative flow#so literally the only clue besides the carving in the wooden beam#is a very blink and miss it observation Siffrin makes#where the bounty hunter keeps fighting close even though that puts her at a disadvantage with her sword#but also keeps Siffrin from getting the distance he needs to run full-speed and attack that way#no clue when I'll be bringing those loose threads in now whoops

forced myself to finish this book even though by the last hundred pages or so all i was doing was picking apart the post-catholicism of it all. bc i feel like it's important to read shit you don't gel with . just because. even though the whole way through i was like they HAVE to prove it's not real. they HAVE to. so not the point of any of it but i was desperate for them to Find The Body etc. and of course instead they have mystical time travel experiences and all that because that is the kind of book the actual star is but i was desperate for them to realize that the star you see is the actual star. and then it wasn't
#the actual star#like i me? personally? am a staunch and firm believer that the star you see is the actual star#i dont cotton to the concept of 'higher levels of consciousness'#or 'transcendence' or the concept that the world is not the home#like. do i think people can put themselves in altered states of consciousness? sure. but none of those states are higher or better#it's just drugs or whatever. hallucination. sleep deprivation. really good/bad mood. brainwaves#i like aggressively dont believe that shit#but the book and the characters here DO. and i had to go with it while trying not to nitpick it too hard the entire time#not my favorite experience but one i was determined to have anyway just to see the thing through to the end#i think my favorite timeline was a tossup between the 1012 and the 3012. but the 3012 mostly in the beginning when it was all worldbuilding#by the end it was getting more mystical and i had too many issues with the future society that weren't going to have time to be resolved#which was very clearly also not the Point Of The Book which is a big one for loose threads and 'decoherence of meaning'#the 1012 plot was more engaging on a throughline level. i enjoyed it beginning middle to end just wish ket had been there more#she was sort of a decoy protagonist she got a couple chapters and then it was all the twins lethally misunderstanding each other#this is also a book which really really gets into entropy which#well first of all its scary. entropy. but secondable it's not as big of a noticeable deal as youd think it would be#what the fuck ever you're alive#who cares if everything is going to fall apart in eight billion years#there's a bit in the last xander chapter where he's like oh i HATE everything i HATE the earth!!! ok and you're about to have#the most formative experience of your life and build a cult around it. on the foundational idea that the earth isnt as real as heaven is#babeeeeeeeeeeeeeee the catholicismmmmmmmmmmmmmm#this book. more than anything. made me think about all of the 3012 jewish buddhist etc ppl living in sedente communities like#watching all of this from the sidelines wondering when Christianity 2 is going to fall apart under its own weight#now THAT'S entropy babey

Anyways, to those who have been wondering what we've been doing during our impromptu Tumblr Vacation or whatever we're calling it, we've been trying to find a playthrough of Baldur's Gate 3 that is made by someone who doesn't annoy the shit out of us, and also tormenting Karlach Cliffgate (as you do)
#we speak#also sleeping. we have slept a lot. being in a school environment is exhausting.#its very hard to remember how much we generally enjoy learning when the environment itself is. that#but on the plus side our shittiest possible 40-minute 1k word essay with eight trillion loose lines we Could have connected#was apparently impressive enough that the people who were meant to be assessing it for If We Could Take The Course#as a preliminary instead just forwarded it as a formal application and it got through#we know we are better at writing and deconstructing that writing than most. however.#christ man there were like a dozen cracks in that essay reasoning and a trillion threads we left dangling#we know that directing you to see what the narrative is focusing on and nothing else is a skill we're good at#but like. this is like if we just shucked a pelt off with no processing and showed it to you. its not even scraped yet.#there are little bits of metaphorical fat and gristle all over the underside of this. you can feel them when picking it up.#we lost the plot of the original prompt halfway through to argue about anthrocentrism. it's messy work.#like its decent prose and if we polished it a bit it could probably be decent within the constraints but it's a 40 minute prompt and sloppy#we tabbed out of the test tab and started writing pokemon fanfiction instead of polishing it. and you think it's impressive?#we know we've spent like more than ten years writing and have read a lot even before that we just forget people have such low standards#...god hopefully this doesnt read as bragging. we are having the experience of like#we get out of the most physically and mentally fatiguing experience we've had for like Years after doing the Bare Minimum to not die#we have been outputting work that is sloppy and we are fully aware of it because we are too tired to put full effort into schoolwork#and we are still getting like. “oh wow this is so good youre so good at making things”#like man. we can do better than this. teacher was like “wow youd be a great script writer” we are good at dialogue but better at descriptio#and we weight. a lot of our capacity for dialogue. in our ability to have cues human people do not have. this will not work well on-screen#also that industry is one of the Many Many Industries that are super mega fucked up rn#and we do not work well with constantly changing expectations#we hope this is a fun glimpse into our current life btw we are finally on break and god. this is great. we can sleep now.

played this two days ago and i haven't been able to stop thinking about it 😭 it's rare that a game resonates with me like this, but the way you work explores lesbianism and gender was such a breath of fresh air to me... yeah I'm obsessed
(and i would indeed die for valentina 🫶)
thank you!!! i'm so glad to hear that!!!
i am here to serve my fellow lesbians and wlw and i love writing about vampires and gender. i'm grateful that so many other people enjoy reading it and resonate with it in the same way i do :-)
#also again reiterating i know it's been quiet here ive just been working on other projects#but i do plan to work on blood choke a bit before the end of the year#not going to go back and do any edits yet (hoping to avoid that with bc until way later/the very end if i can manage it)#but i want to strengthen my outline and nail down a few loose threads and plot points#so she'll be ready once i finish my current goal with tnp#ask#anonymous

things i should be doing:
-editing my bang fic
-thinking of a title for my bang fic
things i'm doing instead:
-plotting and writing epilogue fic #1 for my bang fic
-plotting and writing epilogue fic #2 for my bang fic
#“why tf are you writing two sequels when you already wrote so many words???” you ask#the long answer is i have loose plot threads to tie up and in this case the two ideas don't fit together so they need to go in two fics#the short answer is that i've had deadceptor in my brain 24/7 for the past two months and clearly that's not stopping#c talks about writing instead of writing#^ tho this tag is WRONG bc for once i should NOT be writing aghhhhhh

are any other for the gods fans like. hm. im gonna be honest the worms and slugs are individually the most disturbing thing so far or is that just me. worms man was actually terrifying and the slugs kinda just put a pit of genuine fear into my stomach. the anticedent (i seriously doubt thats how its spelled but im not gonna check rn) city in general was freaky and ominous as hell but the descriptions of the slugs and how many there were especially.
#maybe its partially because im like#i guess more desensitized to described gore and slugs/worms freak me out#but also just. actually kinda horrifying loose plot thread with that thing just being out in the world#like im sorry the magic devourer was fucking terrifying#its good like it freaked me out in the way it was definitely meant to but like oh my fucking god viscerally disturbing to me#this is all /pos just for reference i like being freaked out i just think its interesting that thats what does it out of everything#hawthorne is not as scary to me as giant man made of worms or ancient slugs#am i alone with this#for the gods#theatre of the unaligned
