BEST EMAIL CLIENT FOR MAC OS X EL CAPITAN UPGRADE
To fix this, El Capitan users should go to the location /Users//Library/ Mail/V3/MailData/ Envelope and delete the “Envelope” file.
BEST EMAIL CLIENT FOR MAC OS X EL CAPITAN UPGRADE
However, sometimes during the upgrade to El Capitan, the V2 and V3 folders get mixed up causing problems. In OS X 10.11 El Capitan onwards, Mail is stored in User’s Library > Mail > V3 folder. In OS X 10.7 (Lion) to OS X 10.10 Mavericks, Mail is stored in the User’s Library > Mail > V2 folder. Note: We recommend backing up or copying the “Mail” folder to your desktop before deleting or making sure you have a Time Machine backup just in case anything goes wrong. If you’re finding that Mail won’t stay open long enough to allow you to rebuild, make sure that Mail is closed and then just delete the Envelope files in the Library folder. The simplest solution is to try rebuilding your Mail folder. El Capitan Mail Issues: 10 Ways To Fix ThemĪpple will automatically do this for your with the Mail Settings Lookup tool. The precise cause of the problem usually depends on your specific setup but if you try going through these fixes, one of them should get mail working on El Capitan again. Mail issues are a common problem with new versions of OS X and we’ve been through this many times before so we’ve looked at the most common solutions to bugs such as Mail not opening, crashing, refusing to recognize accounts or simply freezing when opening or trying to send and receive email. However, this still hasn’t fixed the problems for many users who have coined the name “El Crapitan” for the various problems and bugs that have plagued OS X 10.11.
BEST EMAIL CLIENT FOR MAC OS X EL CAPITAN INSTALL
We recommend before proceeding that you install this update first to see if it fixes Mail which you can install by going to the Mac App Store and selecting “Updates” at the top. On October 21st Apple released the El Capitan 10.11.1 update which claimed to have fixed Apple Mail problems with outgoing server issues and message display problems. There are still various El Capitan Mail issues that some people are having including mail not sending in El Capitan, mail not being received and many more frustrating bugs.

When we get ready to save your HTML signature into Mail, make sure that only the relevant HTML is included in your document.įor my signature, I used a two-column table. Because of this, I recommend linking to your images by placing them on a web server rather than including them as attachments. I personally dislike e-mail signature images as attachments (it makes it easy to mistaken that image as a legitimate attachment). So all your links need to be absolute URLs. Relative paths won’t work for an e-mail signature. Campaign Monitor has a great summary of CSS support in e-mail to use for reference. E-mail clients tend to be very picky about which CSS properties they support. The style tag is not supported in Gmail, and support for CSS selectors is spotty. The CSS float property is not supported in Gmail or Outlook, making CSS layouts impractical. One major obstacle in designing HTML e-mail templates is that there are literally dozens of different e-mail clients out there (most if not all can’t handle CSS and HTML as well as our internet browsers can) so you have to keep your design and codes as simple and straightforward as possible. Step 1: Designing the HTML/CSSīefore we begin, here are some basic but important notes to keep in mind as you design your signature.

If you are still running on Mac OS X 10.6, please follow the instructions in my previous tutorial: Creating an attractive HTML Signature in Apple Mail. Just follow the instructions in this tutorial and you will have your own signature created in no time. On the latest version, Lion, Mac OS X 10.7, the setup has changed slightly. My original post was meant for Apple Mail in Snow Leopard, Mac OS X 10.6. For a small fee, I will design a few different options for you to choose from, write up the HTML codes, host your custom email images and help guide you through the installation process. If creating your own HTML signature seems a bit too much work or you just don’t have the time for it, please consider having me do it for you. This tutorial is for you! Many people have been having trouble setting up their own HTML signature for Apple Mail on Lion, Mac OS X 10.7 since the Library folder is now hidden making the signature folder hard to find. Are you are running your Mac on Lion, Mac OS X 10.7? You want to create your own HTML Signature in Apple Mail? You are in the right place.

Mac
Mac

「Mac:Mail
Mail/V9/MailData
Envelope Index Envelope Index-shm Envelope Index-wal

How to Fix Most Common Issues in macOS Catalina
Ever since the release of the latest version of macOS Catalina, users all around the world have found it challenging to work on their MacBook. Apple might fix the issues sooner or later, but it’s better to rely on different methods to fix the errors temporarily to work on your Mac without much trouble. Since every macOS Catalina user is experiencing common issues, we have listed various ways to resolve them within minutes without taking help from an expert.
Tumblr media
Follow the guide below to get rid of any issue you might be experiencing:
Operating System Installation
If you are experiencing a problem in installing the operating system, then make sure that you take the backup of all the essential data. And ensure that your Mac is compatible with installing the macOS Catalina. If you don’t know if your system is compatible or not, then use the following list of compatible devices to check if your system falls under either of the devices:
MacBook Air (2012 and later)
MacBook Pro (2012 and later)
Mac mini (2012 and later)
iMac (2012 and later)
Mac Pro (2013 and later)
12-inch MacBook (2015 and later)
iMac Pro (2017)
In your compatible device, download macOS Catalina and if you don’t find any page for installing the update, then go to Mac’s application folder. Find the file named as ‘Install macOS 10.15’ and double-click it to begin installing the update. In case the installation fails, restart your desktop and press the Control + R keys to enter the Recovery Mode. Select ‘Disk Boot’ and remove irrelevant files from your desktop to give space to macOS Catalina.
‘Setting Up Your Mac’ Message
After the installation procedure, a lot of users might see ‘Setting Up Your Mac’ message on their screen, which indicates that the update is completed. Still, it is better to force the reboot on your device. To do it, follow these steps:
Press and hold down the power button for a few seconds until the system shuts down.
Wait a few minutes and then, turn on your Mac or MacBook.
Now, your desktop should boot into macOS Catalina successfully, and the data will remain safely intact as well. If you’re dealing with low storage, then remove hidden files from the Time Machine and then retry installing the update.
The macOS Catalina update also creates troubles at the end and shows error messages. If this happens with your device, then restart it and press Command + Option + R keys together. Your Mac will boot to start the recovery system. If you continue to face errors, check Apple’s guide for creating an external Mac startup.
Email errors
If your Mail app fails to work properly after the update, then open Finder and from the top menu, click on Go and select ‘Go To Folder’. Then, enter the following commands:
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail/Data/Library/Saved Application State/
Scroll down the window and find ‘com.apple.mail.savedState’ and then move it to Trash. Then, go back to the ‘Go to Folder’ window and enter:
~/Library/Containers/
Now, find and move com.apple.mail and com.apple.MailServiceAgent to Trash or in a temporary folder, e.g. your desktop. Then, go to:
~/Library/Mail/MailData
Move the Envelope Index, Envelope Index-shm, and Envelope Index-wal to Trash as well. Then clean the Trash, and restart your Mac to check if it works properly.
Account Login Error
Many users also experienced trouble logging into their desktop after installing macOS Catalina. To overcome this trouble, use the following method:
Begin by restarting your Mac and hold down the Command + S keys on your keyboard while it boots up. This process will boot you into the Command Prompt. Then, enter the following command:
/sbin/mount -uw /
Press Enter on your keyboard. Then enter the following:
rm /var/db/.applesetupdone
This will resolve your logging in problem without interfering with your data. Hit the Enter key and restart your Mac. Now, you will then be asked to create a new admin user account.
Despite solving the most common issues, the list of challenges in the macOS Catalina update goes on. You can contact the Apple customer care or check their support page online to resolve any other issue that you might be experiencing.

Modifying HTML Email Signatures for MacOS Sierra
One of the most un-Mac-like things that Apple does is the way it handles HTML email signatures, and it changes slightly with every version of the operating system. This is this version’s procedure. I haven’t updated my signatures since 2014 because we don’t need to change addresses, but I’m now working on a new book and want to swap out the New Media cover image I’ve been using for the Walk Appeal cover image.
I edit my signatures using Komodo, which is free and easy to use. Except for two signatures which still used our old address, the only thing that needed to change was the book image. But since I did this last, Retina-quality displays have become common, both with Apple and with other manufacturers as well. It turns out that there’s a really simple way to handle this. Upload an image double the resolution you need. In this case, my book image shows up 288 pixels high on an ordinary screen, so I uploaded an image 576 pixels high. Specify 288 as the height in the html, but when a computer with double-resolution displays like a Retina display reads your email, it’ll get the higher-res version of the image. So cool! I was afraid it would be really complicated. One more thing: I don’t just put the image on there as email decoration. Rather, it’s the anchor for a link back to the Walk Appeal subscription page. I’ll change that later to the Amazon sales page once the book is out. Here are the steps to making the new signatures:
1. Create the new book cover graphic as noted above, and save it wherever you save such things.
2. Upload the graphic to your web host. I keep all my hosted graphics that aren’t on any of my websites in one folder on my host so they’re easy to find. I get to it using something A2 Hosting calls “File Manager.” Your web host should have a similar way of getting to all your hosted files.
3. Keep your HTML signatures in a folder on your computer named by the year they were made or modified. This means you can duplicate that folder, rename it for the current year, and edit out signatures for previous employees, etc. They take up almost no space, and you might need something from an older version someday.
4. Open the first signature in HTML editor (Komodo for me, as noted above) and make these changes to the line of code that defines the image:    a. Change the width attribute to be 18 wider than the image… at least that’s what I use. You may want to play with this.    b. Change the href attribute to the URL you want people to go to when they click the book image.    c. Change the src attribute to the URL of your hosted graphic.    d. Change the width and height attributes to half of the full size. To clarify from above, the full-resolution image is 384 x 576 pixels, so I set width=“192” height=“288” because these are precisely half of the full-resolution images so they’ll display properly on Retina displays (the quotation marks are part of the code).    e. Change the alt attribute to what you want to pop up when someone hovers their mouse over the book image in your email. For me, I used alt=“Walk Appeal book”.
5. Copy this entire line of code. Open each other signature for which you’d like to use this image and paste the code over the existing code with the previous image.
6. While you’re in each file, make any other necessary modifications, like address changes, link changes, etc.
Now comes the un-Apple-like part. Buckle up.
7. Go to Mail>Preferences and click the Signatures tab, then click on All Signatures at the top of the left column. In the middle column, select the signature you want to update. Click the minus button at the bottom of the column to delete the old one.
8. Click the plus button beside it to create a new signature. Rename it the same as the one you just deleted. Close the Preferences window and quit Mail. Very Important: None of the stuff below will work right unless you quit out of Mail!
9. While researching how to do this with MacOS Sierra, I came across this helpful page, but they had one big difference… not sure if it was because they were on an earlier update of Sierra whereas I’m on the latest or what, but they said that if you have your iCloud Drive activated, you should follow a completely different set of instructions from what I’m about to describe. If what I’m describing doesn’t work for your setup, try theirs. Here’s mine:
10. In case you don’t visit your Library often, you might not remember how to get there. Apple has hidden it to keep young children from screwing stuff up, so from the Finder, mouse down on the Go menu while pressing the Option key and you’ll see Library appear on the drop-down menu between Home and Computer. Click on Library. Once inside the Library, go to Mail>V4>MailData>Signatures.
11. In the Signatures folder, you’ll see one file for each of your signatures; they’re the ones with the .mailsignature extension. The file names themselves are complete gobbledygook, but look for the .mailsignature file with the most recently-modified time. There’s also an AccountsMap.plist file that should be modified at the same time; be sure to open the .mailsignature file instead. It should open in TextEdit. If it doesn’t for some reason, open it manually in TextEdit by dragging the file to the TextEdit icon on your Dock.
12. Open the HTML file for the signature you’re modifying in Komodo. The easiest thing to do is open the Get Info window for all your HTML signatures and change the Open With window to Komodo Edit. This way, they’ll all automatically open in Komodo from now on. Once it’s open, Select All and Copy.
13. In the .mailsignature file you have open in Text Edit, you’ll see several lines (5 for me) of metadata at the top, then a space, then the code for the placeholder text in the signature you just created in Mail in Step 8. Don’t touch the metadata or the empty space below it, but select the placeholder code and delete it all. Paste the code from your HTML file. Save and close the .mailsignature file.
14. Very Important: Be sure to do this step, or Mail will overwrite your new signature when you open it in a moment! In the Finder, click the .mailsignature file you just edited and Get Info. Click the Locked checkbox. This prevents Mail from overwriting it.
15. Reopen Mail, go to Preferences, and click the Signatures tab. Click on the new signature and make sure it looks right in the right window. You may need to drag the window to make it larger to see your entire signature. The hosted graphic will only show up here as a blue box with the alt title you set in Step 4(e), which is normal. Now drag the signature you just updated from the middle window to the account(s) where you want to use it in the left column. Click on the account(s). If you want that signature to be the default signature for that account, select it in the Choose Signature drop-down menu at the bottom. For most of my accounts, I have only one signature per account, but for my mouzon.com account, I have several because I have more than one Mouzon company. Once you’ve done these things, create a new email, select the right account, and if you have more than one signature on that account, select the right one. Look closely to be sure that everything looks right. For reasons I can’t explain, Mail occasionally adds an extra line above the signature, or has one less line than you expect. Maybe I should have restarted or something. If something like this happens, do what I didn’t do and restart. If the problem persists, go back to Step 7 and do it over. Once you’ve updated a signature or two and get the hang of it, the whole process only takes a couple minutes. Once you’re satisfied with that signature, if you have more signatures to update, go back to Step 7 and repeat. Otherwise, go to Step 16.
16. One last thing: once you’re done, look back and see if any of the .mailsignature files have Modified dates earlier than when you started your latest modifications. If they do, open them and see what they are. It may be that you locked earlier versions, so those could be old signatures you no longer need. If so, delete them. Then congralate yourself… you’re done!
