Liam, Dec 1999
Patsy will have had the baby by the time people read this so everything will change, but right now what do you do with your day when you're not being a rock star?
A normal day? Get up about seven o'clock now. Downstairs, feed me cats. (Lights up) Then chase them round the house. I creep up on them, (mimes sliding along a wall to acorner, pounces) 'Woooerrrr!!!" and they go, "Shee-it!" and skid about the gaff. I do that for about an hour, gets me exercise in, me blood pumping and that. Then I sit down and watch The Big Breakfast.
About ten, James'll get up and we have a fight over the TV. So l'll watch cartoons with him. Then I'll have a shower. Go for lunch with Patsy about twelve. Do a bit of shopping, see what they've got on the racks. Dinner Chinese. Play me guitar in the garden. Do the neighbours' heads in. Put James to bed about nine o'clock. Come down and watch TV -- I like a Western, get right into them. Talk and off to bed... and then fuckin' wa-hay!
I haven't done a gig for almost two years and I've only started to come down in the last four months. That's why I'd always end up down the pub and in trouble. I really wanted to change, but half of it is I have to because I'm really looking forward to having the kid around a nice environment, not some maniac, me in and out to the pub. It'll be interesting to see how everything goes for you on tour.
I'll find out soon. But the kid and Patsy and James'll be with me. They'll come out two weeks at a time and we'll never leave it longer than two weeks apart. Noel and Meg are doing the same. It'll be fuckin' nice, do a gig, then see me family and go for a stroll. It'll be beautiful.
Might even get a smile out of me on stage, you never know. Jokes between songs. I'm getting happy. I mean, I have been happy, but I've had happiness and moments of fuckin' (points downwards). When I'm happy I go and fuck it up. But now I'm sort of getting in the groove of this happiness. How's your relationship with Noel?
The best it's ever been. Stronger.
We're fuckin' listening to each other and we've got time for each other. Which we've never had. We couldn't sit in the same room five years ago, let alone try to produce an album. He used to say to the press that I didn't give a fuck about Oasis because of me drinking, so I thought, Fuck it, I'll prove to you that I'm 190 per cent into this band and this album and if it means stopping drinking, so be it. I've done it and he thought I couldn't 'cos he was going, "Have you had a drink?" "Not for a couple of months." "Yeah right - you'll be back on the bottle." "No, not me, mate." So I'm not drinking and, in a way, he's going, "Bastard!"
And I've got a song on the album -- that's a change. It's called Little James. For our James. It's really naive. But it's beautiful. It's big- I played it to Noel and he went, "Fuckin' top, I'd buy it." I wanted to play it acoustic, but he went and got the band around it and it's a big fuckin' tune now. That was a breakthrough For you, getting a song accepted by Noel.
I was pleased that he'd fuckin' listen to it and I'm pleased that it turned him on. That's good for me, that gives me confidence. But I've got a lot to learn. There's no point in going up to Noel and going, I've got this little bit of a melody and... Well, I used to do that and he'd say, Look, come back when you've finished the song, then I'll give it the time of day. He insisted I do it on me own. And that's the way it should be. So when something amazing hits me again, I'll quietly creep up on him maybe he'll [transcription tragically cuts out here]. Have you always itched to prove yourself asa songwriter?
You always want to fuckin' better yourself. I always wanted to learn how to play a guitar for my own peace of mind, just so I could get out all that shit in there (points to his head), that frustration. Write words down and get what's in there out here. But I couldn't do it. Now I want to keep writing.

also adding onto that question, idk if youve shared this anywhere but im also curious how you nailed the designs for diana, the partners, and the constant - in general but also for your animatic!!! cannot emphasize enough how obsessed i am with it. i watch it at least once every day :3
Oh boy!! An opportunity to talk about my degree!!
Animation (character design in particular) has been my special interest since early childhood. I studied it professionally for two years, then studied film and film theory for an additional four.
When I design characters in my own style, I do it with personality and expression in mind.
For example, Edwards is a weaselly bastard. He’s egotistical, sly, and omniscient. Though we don’t tend to see these character elements in his face, we "see" it in his voice. The way he presents himself, the way he walks and talks. Walking and talking are both important points when it comes to designing a character. A character's posture and gait are crucial in animation when you want to show, not tell, a character's personality.
Additionally, how do they speak? How to they hold themselves? What parts of their personality shine through unspoken mannerisms? Their face? Their behaviors? The way their clothes fit their frames? Everything requires thought.
With Edwards, I gave him these beady, closely-set eyes, large, peaked eyebrows, a long face with high-set forehead, and a conniving grin with a slightly jutting chin. Is this what he looks like in-game? Of course not! The games are based on reality, and thus have to abide by set "rules". These rules don't apply in animation, they're exaggerated.
Another point: How well would their existing voices fit these designs? Will they feel seamless? Or will they sound like they’re dubbed over? Voice is an important part of my process, I need to design them as if their voices are projecting through them. It will feel awkward and uncanny if an unfitting voice comes from an unfitting character.
With Diana, for example, I wanted her personality to shine through her facial structure, and for it to feel as if her pre-existing voice would actually belong to this character: A long, straight-bridged nose, thin lips, small forehead, acorn-shaped face and large, catlike eyes. I used Meg from Disney's Hercules as inspiration for her face, particularly her nose and eyes. Every other character in this instance abides by the same process. Even Lucas, who's a literal clone of 47, has his own design traits that differ from the rest. Of course, having a full head of hair and facial hair help offset him from his clone brother, I still don't give him the exact same structure as 47.
I really don't think I can give the entire rundown of my own process, since a HUGE part of it is simply silent analysis, but if you're interested in improving your own design process, I'd highly recommend checking out artbooks for your favorite movies and games! Some might be in print but others may be digital only, or the only resources might just be from the individual artists themselves. I know I provided this link in your previous ask but I do highly recommend Character Design References.com!
#ask box#hitman#agent 47#lucas grey#diana burnwood#I actually did try applying to be a professor of character design at the college I graduated from but they ghosted me :/

Here's a fairy cosplay I made for a con in February. I just wanted to get my other crochet works posted in order before I showed this off.
I paid for one of the patterns, and it was the leg warmers. I was looking for something with a tie-up, and these worked perfectly.
I made the hat from a Walmart bucket hat I cut up. I used fabric I already had to make the colors.

The Scottish actor and director Kenny Ireland passed away ten years ago, on July 31st 2014.
Born as George Ian Kenneth Ireland in Paisley, Renfrewshire, the son of Ian, an RAF bomber pilot who was killed on a secret mission when Ireland was five months old, and Elizabeth (nee Cowie). On leaving Paisley grammar school, he worked as an apprentice at the town’s thread manufacturer, J&P Coats. However, his ambition was to act and he eventually left to train at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. Then, as an actor and assistant director, he helped to establish the Lyceum Youth theatre in Edinburgh.
He made his West End acting debut in Mr Laurel and Mr Hardy (Mayfair theatre, 1976) after the Traverse theatre Company’s Edinburgh production transferred to London. He was then a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company, before work at the National Theatre, where he was Apollo in Peter Hall’s production of The Oresteia, and the Old Major and Pilkington in Animal Farm. By then, he was himself directing at the Traverse theatre.Ireland first appeared on television as an Edinburgh bank manager in an episode of the police drama Strangers. In between many other one-off roles, he played Sammy, alongside Simon Cadell and Carol Royle, in the first series of the sitcom Life Without George and the thuggish American media tycoon Ben Landless in the political drama House of Cards. He was also one of the regular group of actors in Victoria Wood: As Seen on TV, best remembered in blue dungarees and cap as the handyman Derek in the much-loved Acorn Antiques sketches, which lampooned the soap opera Crossroads. “
In the cinema, Ireland was in the Scottish film comedy Local Hero, directed by last week’s birthday boy, Bill Forsyth, other films included The Big Man, but it was TV that we mainly say Kenny in appearances in Dr. Finlay’s Casebook, Enemy at the Door, Taggart, Dempsey and Makepeace, Auf Wiedersehen, Pet, Rab C Nesbit, Hamish Macbeth and many more saw that he was kept busy and the bills were paid between many theatre appearances as well as at stint as artistic director of the Royal Lyceum theatre, Edinburgh from 1993 to 2003.
Of course Kenny is best remembered for is role in Derren Litten’s Benidorm, which became an instant hit. Alongside actress Janine Duvitski, the pair played a sex-mad couple who frequent the Solana hotel in the Spanish resort every year.
It wasn’t an easy role for the mild mannered Ireland, he recalled “Half the things I don’t understand, There was one episode where I had to say, ‘Jacqueline prefers the sausage in cider.’ I said, ‘What’s funny about that?’ and had to have it explained to me. I’ve always taken the line that they’re complete innocents.
Ireland’s first marriage, to the writer, producer and director Marilyn Imrie, ended in divorce. In 1980, he married the theatrical agent Meg Poole
Kenny Ireland passed away on this day 2014 a month after it was announced he had brain cancer.

Feeling nostalgic tonight … I’m listening to the white stripes and reminiscing … I was so FEVERISHLY in love with Jack White ages 12-14 hahaha.
Here’s something that I recognized intuitively as a kid and forgot about until now: Meg White’s drumming goes HARD. Yeah, it’s dead simple. It’s basic. Whatever. She still bashes the hell out of that kit and it’s punk as fuck, especially on the earlier albums.
I spent so much of my turbulent early adolescence with that band. The summer before my 13th birthday, my mother gave me Elephant on CD with the thought that I might like it. Boy, did I! Hahaha.
That was the first CD I ever burned and uploaded to my iTunes. I spent hours with that album on repeat, listening through headphones, my hefty ass iPod dragging down the pocket of my hoodie with its weight. I remember being out on the school playground while my mother met with my teachers, nervous and trying not to cry, listening to Little Acorns and The Hardest Button to Button again and again. I remember thinking I wouldn’t be such a mess in eighth grade. (I was.) But I had a real passion for this music now— it was my bright spot amidst a lotta teenage angst. I was in chorus, and that year, I convinced the music teacher to have us sing We Are Going to Be Friends. I learned how to play that and a few other songs on my acoustic guitar. I felt I had something to reach for instead of being certain I was going nowhere.
In some ways, my mother is a mystery. I think she feels the same way about me. I don’t believe she ever liked The White Stripes, and I’m not sure why she thought I would. We spent a lot of time misunderstanding each other. But she was so right that time! She gave that to me. I should have kept that in mind every time I was mad or afraid of her. I need to keep that in mind while we’re both alive.
Anyway. Jack White just turned 50! hbd king <3

"You're a Witch," Gandalf stated like it was a casual announcement.
"I'm a what?"
"This isn't Harry Potter, Rhi" Meg called up to me and I sighed.
Gandalf smiled but, thankfully, decided to explain.
"Witches were another race of beings created by all of the Valar-"
"All of them?" I made a face at him and he laughed.
"I assume you know of Middle Earth's history then?"
"Some," I told him with a shrug. "Enough to know that one of the Valar likely didn't get a chance to help. Namely Melkor, but carry on."
"You are correct," he mumbled but continued normally after. "Witches were created to be sent to another place that Lord Irmo had described and Lady Vairë perfectly reconstructed in her weavings as if having seen it for herself. They brought the information to Lord Námo and Lady Nienna. Lady Nienna told the three that the world they saw was one that was full of struggles and pain that none of the Valar knew or would know."
Gandalf paused and I looked over to him. He looked so sad.
"You were close to her; you miss her."
He nodded.
"You remind me a lot of her, Rhi. You feel almost as deeply as she does."
We stayed quiet for a bit then a thought struck me.
"I thought the Valar couldn't give consciousness? Aulë created the seven Fathers of Dwarves but they only spoke and moved if Aulë willed them to. Eru had to give them souls, where Aulë had only given them bodies. There's more to that story, I know, but my point is if the Valar created Witches, they only created bodies. Eru would have to give them souls."
Gandalf the Grey turned to me with wide eyes like I had shocked him with the amount of knowledge I had about that Vala, Eru, and Dwarves.
"Again, you are correct. He did. You meant it when you said that all of this information is available to you in your world, didn't you?"
"I know a lot of things but not all of it. Tolkien gave us a lot of information but there was still so much that even his son wasn't able to get out to the world before he passed away."
I frowned then narrowed my eyes. What if Tolkien's intention of The Lord of the Rings being retold as if it were history... was accurate? Are we in the past or another world? I let my mind wander with possibilities for a while until Gandalf spoke again.
"Hold out your hands," the Wizard instructed, so I did only to jump with surprise.
The squirrel in my hands chittered while staring up at me. Slowly, I lifted my head to look at Gandalf, still a bit nervous to be suddenly holding a wild animal. Even if it was chattering about how it needed to find some acorns after this, maybe a river to clean itself in.
"So," I started slowly as the squirrel wiggled to get comfy in my left hand, "I'm understanding an animal right now but what did you originally want me to do with it- her. What did you originally want me to do with her?"
She'd snapped at me about being a beautiful female and that she should bite me for phrasing that as I did. I really hoped she wouldn't, though.
"Good, I was hoping you'd be able to! Ask her what she needs," was all he told me, with an encouraging smile and a nod toward my new... companion.
Still unsure that I was awake, I looked back to the squirrel in my hand.
"Miss?"
I could feel the eyes of Dwarves on me as we all made our way down the path on horses and ponies. This was so awkward and I really wish Gandalf would have waited until we were stopped for the night. He wouldn't, though, because that's when I would be training with Fíli again to sharpen – aha, puns - my fighting skills. Kíli also told me that today he would start my refresher archery lessons. We knew it would be odd for me since his bow is not the right size for me to shoot with but some practice is better than none! At least that's what I told him when he brought that fact up a couple of days ago.
The squirrel's chittering brought me out of my thoughts so I focused on what she had to say.
"Your leg is broken?" I interrupted her and she gave a quick nod. Yin snorted below me and my eyes widened at the sound. "You're sassier than Meg."
Fíli's laugh rang through the air and I blushed. Yin jerked on the reigns and I sighed.
"I named you because you're mostly black with a white face. Not because you're female. Let me help the poor squirrel!"
Apparently, my arguing with animals was very amusing since more Dwarves and Meg were laughing now. I couldn't even begin to describe how I was understanding them to make everyone quiet either. So, instead, I lifted Miss Squirrel closer to my face as she shifted so that I could see the damage done to her back leg.
"Oh- ow. How the hell did you manage that?"
She shot a sassy response about how, yes, it was very painful but that she'd like me to fix it now, please. Well, at least she's got some manners.
"Place your hand over her leg, Rhi," Gandalf instructed.
My eyes went from Miss Squirrel's leg to the back of Yin's head.
"You gonna throw me off or something if I drop the reigns?"
His response was a snort, a quick shake of his head, and a comment about how he may be sassier than Meg but he's not an asshole. Plus, he likes me.
"Fair enough," I told him as I let the reigns fall from my right hand and into my lap. Miss Squirrel sat patiently in my hand as I gently rested my hand over her hip and leg. "Tell me if there's too much pressure, please. This looks really painful and I don't want to make it worse."
She looked over to Gandalf and chittered about how she "liked this one, she's not rude and is very caring." I mumbled my thanks then looked at Gandalf as well.
"Now what?" The Wizard choked on smoke and I sighed. "You've never had to teach this before, have you?"
He kept choking so I sighed and squinted at Miss Squirrel's fur brushing against my index finger. I want to heal her, though. I don't wanna just let her sit here in pain and, worse, have to let her go as is and have her die-
A shrill squeal left Miss Squirrel and I swear I almost dropped her.
"Oh, my God! What did I do?" I shouted, panicked and shaking while Gandalf reached toward me to take Miss Squirrel back. He scooped her into his hand and began poking at her leg which, to my surprise, had straightened and had no gash anymore.
"You healed her," Gandalf mumbled and my jaw dropped. "You healed her but it happened so quickly that her shattered bones snapped back together. Her scream was more shock than pain, no worries."
The newly healed Miss Squirrel jumped back to my shoulder from Gandalf's hand and nuzzled against my cheek as thanks. Before she jumped to Yin's head and into a tree, she told me that it did hurt a bit but that she promised she was, in fact, more shocked than anything.
Once she was gone, Meg rode closer to me.
"You ok?"
"Meg," I looked at her with wide eyes, "I can talk to animals."
"I noticed, ya Disney Princess. Guess you can fix broken bones too," she laughed and Yin laughed with her.
I'm pretty sure his laugh sounded more like a whinny to the rest of them, though.
When Gandalf told me I was a magical being called a "Witch", like Kíli said while we were at Bilbo's, I thought he was messing with me. Miss Squirrel and Yin seemed to prove me very wrong about that. I can roll with it, though. This may all come in handy at some point. He still has some explaining to do. Maybe I'll ask Kíli too?
For now, it was back to fighting lessons with Fíli. We've been at this for-
God, how long ago was it that we left Bilbo's house? Oh! Day five in Middle Earth, day four on the road with The Company. Right.
Anyway, Fighting Lesson number four was beginning and it seems Nori is here to help demonstrate something. Bofur's usual comments were thrown at us through the lesson which I did my best to ignore. I don't do well with teasing while I learn.
"My turn!"
I jumped and faced Kíli who was beaming at the three of us. Does he mean...?
"Kíli, we've only been at this for about an hour. She has a lot to learn," Nori stated.
"Exactly! So my turn," he said excitedly while pulling the knife from my hand to give it back to Fíli.
I blinked a few times and looked between the three of them.
"What's happening?"
"Kíli's archery lessons, apparently," Fíli explained with a small smile as Kíli dragged me over to a different area of the camp.
Bofur laughed loudly as we passed him. Soon enough I was sat on an old tree stump as a Dwarf with a bright smile held his bow out to me.
I looked back where I just was to see Meg and Fíli laughing about the situation.
"Did you change your mind?" His voice was so soft and sad that I looked back at him quickly while reaching for the bow.
"Absolutely not!" My eyes widened, having dropped to the bow, as my fingers traced over the details. "This is so cool," I whispered, attempting to contain my excitement.
"What?"
I didn't respond, still doing my best to contain my excitement that I was holding Kíli Durin's bow. Oh, my... this is honestly so awesome!
"Rhi, snap out of it so you can learn to use it then go back to being excited," Meg called, clearly still laughing at me. I chose to, mostly, ignore her.
"Is this bronze?" I pointed to a portion above the grip that had a fair amount of its own detail etched into it while turning for better lighting. "It is, isn't it? I can't remember what it's called, there's a term for the green-"
"How'd you know?"
Moving my eyes away from his bow finally, I looked at him.
"The green on it. It occurs naturally over time with bronze, copper, and similar metals. But I always remember what it looks like because it's- I'd like to say it's close to my favorite color but, in reality? That just is my favorite color," I explained, growing embarrassed.
He probably already knew about that, he's a Dwarf. They would know how different metals weather over time.
Instead of laughing in my face and telling me that he did already know that, he just smiled. So happily and true- it was the smile. The one that, no matter the mood I was in, would always get me smiling back. And that's what I did.
"Your favorite color is the color red metals change to when they oxidize?"
"Is it all red metals? But yeah-"
"I thought you were going to reteach her archery? Not give her lessons on the aging of metals," Bofur shouted and Kíli laughed as I blushed.
"Fíli's gonna take me back if we don't get started," I said with a pout. Then I finally held the bow properly and smiled to myself about the bow-to-me ratio.
"You sure it won't bother you?"
I beamed at Kíli, reassuring him again that I am happy to have him reteach me archery, then shouted.
"Let's do this!"
Ori settled next to me after we'd all eaten dinner. It was the fifth evening on the road and he'd already insisted I continue telling my stories that go with the songs I sing. I guess he'd been writing them down as I told them. Pretty sure nobody was paying attention but him, though.
"Ok, where did I leave off yesterday?" I asked while leaning over to try to look at what he had written yesterday.
He pulled the book away and shook his head so I pouted while I waited for him to remind me.
"You finished telling us about Mulan yesterday. Which story will you tell us next?"
My eyes widened at his question.
"I didn't think anybody would want to hear anymore, honestly. Are you sure?"
"C'mon, lass! Start the story," Bofur shouted at me.
There were a few more raised voices that agreed as Meg chuckled next to me.
"Your audience awaits, you bard," she gestured vaguely to The Company so I looked around.
Most of them were still up and around the fire, alert and telling me in various ways that they wanted another story.
"Will you teach us the songs this time, too?"
Kíli was still sitting with us, I'd seen him while the others demanded I start another story but that was the first thing he'd said about any of my Story Time. Even when I told Mulan all he did was listen quietly.
"Sure," I said hesitantly and he gave me an encouraging smile.
"Are you going to tell us another one, then?" Dori spoke up this time and I smiled a bit with a nod.
"I am. Prepare yourselves. It's sappier than the last one," I laughed, so did some of the others but I heard a couple of groans. Then I began my story of another Disney fairytale, "Once upon a time, there was a very selfish prince..."
"What's up, Dwalin?" I looked over to him as he approached.
"It's time for your training. Let's go," was all he said to me before walking off to a small clearing near our campsite.
I looked at Meg but she shrugged so I followed him.
About thirty minutes later I was dodging Dwalin's attacks as quickly as I could, drenched in sweat and absolutely exhausted. He kept coming at me though, so I kept moving. When he finally let me collapse in the clearing he stood over me and nodded.
"You've already improved."
"I've," I gulped down air, finally feeling the few cuts scattered over my limbs, "improved?"
"Small scratches, not enough to hurt you too badly but deep enough to make it sting and make you not want them. Twenty of them. Most of them you received in the first fifteen minutes. Twenty-five minutes and you'd already started dodging more accurately." He offered me a hand to help me up so I hesitantly accepted. "I'll make it clear when your lesson has begun and when it has ended. For now."
Then he walked off as Meg and Fíli came up to me.
"The hell was that?" Meg asked me while I did my best to find all of the small cuts and scratches he mentioned.
"Dwalin thought she wasn't learning fast enough," Fíli said, clearly grouchy about this, "so he said he was taking over. Guess he was right. You did fairly well for your first time against Dwalin. Even if he was going easy on you."
"He what?" I shouted in disbelief. With a groan, I let my head fall back briefly then sighed. "I mean, he's not wrong, I guess. We're already on the road. I don't have the luxury of learning technique, as nice as it would have been to have. Sorry, Fíli, but the best way to get me to learn would be," I hissed as my finger hit a shallow cut on my cheek, "this."
Kíli came up to us, shortly after my agreement, with a smile that disappeared fairly quickly when he looked at me.
"Well, I was here to announce that supper is ready but why is Rhi covered in cuts?"
"She's fine. Started new fighting lessons with Dwalin today," Meg explained. "Let's get you cleaned up so we can eat. No need for infections."
"Meg, the cuts are so shallow-"
"I don't care. You never know," she told me while dragging me to Bilbo to see what he had to disinfect wounds.
I was out of commission for Story and Song Time for four days after I started training with Dwalin.
Each day was magic lessons/refreshers with Gandalf while we traveled, Yin's commentary included, then Dwalin's lessons, lastly was dinner after Meg and I cleaned up any new cuts and scrapes I'd received, but I kept going to bed immediately after we ate. Ori seemed upset each day when I woke up and I felt so bad. I know he and a few others really enjoyed my stories and songs. Plus, we had started Beauty and the Beast two days before Dwalin took over for Fíli.
Not wanting to disappoint further, I had a plan.
"Kíli," I said in a quiet, sing-song voice. He looked up at me so I clasped my hands together in front of my face like I was begging. "I have a huge favor to ask. I'm continuing Story and Song Time tonight so," I leaned closer to him and whispered my request directly in his ear.
"You need my-"
"Sh! It's a surprise for everybody but I need your help with this because well, I don't have any."
He looked me over so I mouthed please then started to beg more but he stopped me.
"I'm glad you're continuing. I'll help!"
"Thank you!" I gave him a quick hug, collected my request, then ran to Meg.
When I found her, she was sharpening a knife while seated on a rock. I dropped the boots by her feet so she looked at them then continued sharpening.
"I'm Gaston, aren't I?"
"Is there someone else you'd like to be for this impromptu musical number?"
Now she looked at me, giving me a wicked smile.
"Oh, hell no! I'm always the bad guy, bitch. Wait 'til you do Sleeping Beauty and I get to be Maleficent," she told me mischievously.
I laughed then we went back to the fire to further prepare for our musical number.
"Ori!"
The Dwarf jumped when he heard his name but scrambled to get his book when I patted the seat next to me. That was his usual cue that it was Story and Song Time in the evenings. After he reminded everyone where we left off last time I looked at Meg who was on my other side, as usual.
"Who does she think she is? That girl has tangled with the wrong man," she stated while crossing her arms. "No one says no to Gaston!"
"Darn right," I agreed.
"Dismissed, rejected, publicly humiliated! Why, it's more than I can bear."
Her face fell in defeat and I grinned at the sound of some of the Dwarves laughing quietly.
"More beer?" I held out a cup to her but she turned away from me.
"What for? Nothing helps. I'm disgraced!"
"Who? You? Never," I informed her while grabbing her shoulder. "Gaston, you've got to pull yourself together!"
With that, I rose from my seat to begin the lyrics.
As I sang, I made an extra special show of it.
"No one's neck's as incredibly, " I leaned forward, grabbing my thighs as I sang the next word, not that anybody but Meg would understand it, "thick as Gaston! For there's no man in town half as manly."
I looked over to see Meg standing with her arms crossed, legs apart, and chest puffed out with a serious look. So I took a page from Vanna White's book to present my best friend in all her Gaston-like glory.
"You can ask any Tom, Dick, or Stanley, " I pointed to Bofur, Kíli, then Fíli, "and they'll tell you whose team they prefer to be on.
"No... one... fights like Gaston!"
Meg threw a couple of punches so I dodged them.
"Douses lights like Gaston," I gave her a warning look and she put her hands up, palms facing me.
"As you see, I've got biceps to spare."
Both she and Fíli held their arms up to flex so she and I took a moment to laugh then continued the song.
"That's right! And every last inch of me's covered with hair," she grasped each side of the opening at the neckline of her tunic and pulled it open a bit more than it usually was as if to show off a 'chest full of hair '.
"No... one... shoots like Gaston! Makes those beauts like Gaston. Then goes tromping around wearing," I turned to point out Kíli's boots on Meg's feet as she jumped and stood on the log, "boots! Like Gaston!"
She tossed two branches at me that I had collected earlier and insisted did not go in the fire until I was done with them.
"I use antlers in all of my decorating!"
I held the branches on my head as she sang and smiled brightly before dropping them again.
When we finished, I fell back to my spot next to Meg while our audience laughed with us. Even Ori was laughing while he finished writing what he'd just witnessed.
"Nice boots," Fíli told Meg and I laughed more.
"Rhi threw them at me earlier and told me I had to wear them or else."
"I did not!" I could feel tears forming in my eyes from the amount of laughing I was doing. "Nice flex, Fíli."
Now Meg was laughing hard enough that she might be near falling to the ground.
"I couldn't laugh earlier because I knew Rhi would have a fit if I stopped singing. Pardon me while I die from lack of oxygen now."
"Give Kíli his boots back first!"
She did as I asked to the best of her ability while laughing so hard.
"So," Bofur spoke up when we'd all calmed slightly, "was Gaston a Dwarf?"
The Company erupted into laughter again; so much for calm.

Anonymous sent: “Dear Diary”
Ah, so. ....ran away from home, I’ve been staying with a local carpenter in the town of Feral Forest. I’ve been with them for a few weeks and I recently got into an argument with Meg, the carpenter’s daughter.
The argument being...our different life styles. I have not yet told them that I was the prince, the only people that know I am of some noble blood (hopefully that of just...a lower class) would be Meg and her father. I don’t even remember what the argument was about or how to rectify the situation. Joss, her father, has told me if I plan on staying, even for a short time, that I need to get used to following some of their traditions.
....I suppose I have been taking some things for granted so I hope to make up for my actions with Meg, especially before I...possibly leave the village.
