Exerzierplatz - a cc lot by moonwoodhollow (feat. The Green Room & the bookshop + a retro corner store)

Exerzierplatz is a building I've been working on for a long time as it was a bit of a trouble-child. I was never satisfied with it and kept thinking that I should scrap it, because of its awkward apartment-floor plans, until I embraced the idea of using it more as a retail/café lot. The result is something I am very satisfied with and I hope it exudes the kind of ~hip/cute neighbourhood~ vibe I'm feeling.

But it's all up to you, how you'll want to use this lot: as a café, a deco lot for your sims-stories (I'd love to see that!!) or as an actual residential building.

Building background

Another historical brick building, but I'll spare you the historical background this time because I forgot which real-life building inspired me to create this one, but I can tell you how I got the idea for this building in general! (if you care)

The name Exerzierplatz is a bit misleading if you know any German, as a "Platz" is usually a public square, buildings directly next to a square usually receive the square's name as well with a house number added. The square that inspired me is quite a dismal and empty square with a huge car park, but it got me thinking about what kind of buildings originally might have stood there. The historical context here is post-WW2, which left a lot of cities in ruins. Instead of rebuilding the original structures, some cities opted for a "car-friendly" approach, meaning lots of car parks and wide streets, that nowadays feel over-dimensioned.

Now if I had to pin down an era, in which this kind of building was likely constructed, I'd say the latter of the 19th century. It's likely to be a representative of historicism, or at least has elements from this style.

So what do you get?

Exerzierplatz is a 20x20 build best placed in Windenburg, but I could potentially see it in Britechester as well. The building is partly furnished, which means the whole ground floor is furnished, while the other two floors are left unfurnished.

The ground floor includes a café, a bookshop and a Tante Emma Laden (aka a corner store/delicatessen). All three of them are fully furnished and usable as a café or a retail store. The 2nd and 3rd floors are intended as apartments, but everything's up to you!

Uses items from the following packs: I own almost all packs, so I'd say most of them, but I will update this post once I hop back into game to have a look!

I feel like a kid on Christmas. I'm finally making some real use of my 3DS being homebrewed. I figured out how to install my 3DS cartridges onto the console so I don't need the carts to play. I also figured out NDS game forwarding, so I can have icons for those too. What you're looking at is every mainline Zelda game that the 3DS can run. Every one from Zelda 1 to Four Swords, and the handhelds from there onward. It's only the Wii U and Switch ones that I can't play here on my little ol' gold Zelda New 3DS XL. This is so epic. Mind you I've owned all of these since 2015. It's just having them all here without needing the carts that makes me so excited.

I've also packed Ocarina of Time 3D and Majora's Mask 3D full of mods for quality of life and to make them just a bit more faithful to the N64 releases. Read below for the mods I've installed! They all work on 3DS, not just Citra!

Nerrel on YouTube has an excellent review of MM3D that points out its severe shortcomings as a faithful remaster of the original. Thankfully, there are multiple mods that fix both gameplay and aesthetic problems.

Project Restoration by Leoetlino, which fixes every gameplay issue and adds even more quality of life features.

N64 OST to 3DS by DeathWrench. Gets rid of the reverb that Grezzo slathered on the soundtrack.

Classic Texture Packs by Solt 11, based on Citra-only mods by Loch Ness Hamster. They make Link's transformations look much more faithful. (I deleted the file for Hylian Link though because I like Grezzo's take on him)

Even if you don't care for the texture packs, Project Restoration easily makes MM3D the best way to experience Majora's Mask, whether on Citra or original hardware.

OoT3D is a much more faithful remaster, with virtually no changes to the gameplay while only enhancing visuals and adding optional QoL features like motion aiming. There are still some areas where it fell short, like how some of the game's horror elements were sanitized. So I threw on a bunch of mods for that too. Most of them are just aesthetic, but two are really game changing. First, the aesthetic.

Invisible Sheikah Stone by Takeshre. They're still there if you need them but don't visually distract anymore. There is a MM3D version, but Citra only.

Art-Faithful Fairies by Takeshre (3DS port by JoesephMother in comments). This one is just neat. Pointy wings!

N64 Dialogue Font by Takeshre. The original font has so much character compared to what Grezzo replaced it with, and now it's back!

Original Dead Hand by Loch Ness Hamster (3DS port by JoesephMother in comments). Finally some of the horror back.

Now the gamechangers.

Standalone Free Cam by Roberto-Nessy. Goodness this breathes some fresh life into the game. As far as Nintendo is concerned, OoT is still the only 3D Zelda to not have free cam. The original 3DS couldn't support one, but the New 3DS and Citra certainly can. Boom bam, free cam!

Unmirror Master Quest by HylianFreddy. Okay so maybe this is just huge and gamechanging to me, but listen. I'm left-handed. I identify so very strongly with Link's character, and it makes me very happy whenever he is left-handed. That said, I dislike that OoT3D and TPHD mirror the game world in their respective hard modes simply because they make Link right-handed. This mod completely fixes the issue for me in OoT3D at least. I actually want to play Master Mode now.

Note that these two are both implemented using a file called "code.ips", so they cannot be used together unless they are merged into one ips file. Which you can do easily with the tool in method 2 of this guide.

The place he loses me is when he says that Original ‘Sakura’ has the nature to take both of these things into herself. Which, I don’t know why she would, since the feather belongs quite specifically to a different soul, and I don’t know why she would absorb the body of her clone. Like, the Syaorans never absorbed each other, and Watanuki has always been fine when meeting Lava Lamp. 

Is it specifically because the body is empty? So it kind of drifts automatically towards a soul very similar to its original to merge with? And since The Sakura Clone's soul was VERY close to the original Sakura's, that meant she was able compatible with the feather even through she isn't missing any part of her own soul? Like an Extra Memory DLC she could have since the files were compatible, even though those memories aren't hers? Or something? 

I feel like I am being pedantic but he specifically says she has the ability to take both those things into herself.

If Syaoran had died but left an empty body behind would Lava Lamp have accidentally fused with it? Or is this a Sakura Specific Function that’s happening because of the Extreme Universe Powers that are being thrown around her?

Honestly at this point Evil Wolverine could just start adding any other random event he needed to make this work to the list and I’d just have to shrug and say Sure, Ok. Whatever you say. That might as well also be true now.

Hi!! Thank you for the ask, ngl I had to sit down a bit and think about this... like do I have headcanons for SV? 😅 And yeah, it turns out I do, but unless I explicitly state them in a fic, or imply them heavily in text, they don't apply to every fic I write, you know? Added a read more because this got long, sorry!

So here are a few, that I could think of rn:

Top!SQH: I don't really write MoShang-centric (or CumPlane) fics, but if I did, it would be most likely with this dynamic in mind. I just think he is neat. ☺️

SY's age: I'm down for him dying relatively early, like between 18 and 20. It just makes everything funnier IMO to have him play the wise mentor when he was barely a legal adult in his own world and the mental age difference between BingQiu switching during his 5-year nap?? ☺️ (But I also have several WIPs where SY is like in his 40s so...)

SY's original hotness: every time I see someone post about him being a total knockout (conventional or unconventional) who is over it/doesn't know/etc., I smile. It would work a lot, is all I'm saying, and in a reverse transmigration situation, someone would definitely have their work cut out for them.

modern!LBH's job: so if LBH was born/raised in the modern world and an orphan, I'd probably write him as someone who is a doctor or an engineer - mainly bc I could see him with the drive to show everyone that he can do it on his own and excel too. Funnily enough, in the modern AU WIPs I currently have, he is either a haute cuisine chef (romcom with single parent SY), a medical student working as a waiter/delivery boy (romcom with fake dating), an escort (fic with a hopeful ending), or a gardener (lesbian horror). So like 1 out of 4? 😅

Plot bunnies. They are really bunnies, I have around 140 docs in my SV WIP folder. Some of those will be merged into one fic, and some of them have like 5-6 different fics in them because I was lazy and didn't want to open a new file.

Here are some that are almost finished being written tho:

Haunting of Bly Manor AU: lesbian BingYuan with uni student SY going to be the nanny for a rich widow's two children in an isolated estate over the summer to get her tuition money together.

SY as reincarnated SXY: TLJ/SY, past!TLJ/SXY with SY finding himself next to SXY's cooling body and baby!LBH is already in the river but caught up in the nearby vegetation.

SV/Stardew Valley/From fusion: BingQiu with SY waking up on the bus to Cang Qiong Mountain with a letter from his grandparent(?) telling him about an inheritance. He has a dilapidated farm called Qing Jing Peak, only a few spirit stones in his pocket and the bus breaks down immediately after his arrival. He can't leave the mountain, every time he tries he gets turned around, his money is barely enough to buy himself some bread till his first crop matures and every night when it gets dark monsters appear in the town.

Isekai AU: BingYuan where original!LBH agrees to play a game with a strange entity before dying during his daughter's wedding. He has to go into various worlds and try to fulfill the original host's wishes or change their fates. This is a multi-work series, part one (interstellar arc, also omegaverse) is almost done, I'm writing part two (zombie apocalypse arc) now, but I'll not publish any until I'm at least close to finishing part three (waffling between two settings). Will be at least 5 big arcs.

There are also several one-shots that I could post, I just have to find the energy and the time to edit them. I'll get there eventually. 🥰

some leverage redemption negativity under cut (well not really negativity, just something about the way they based episodes on specific real-life people on the news that didn't work for me personally)

(also major spoilers for Season 6 Episode 13 of Elementary below cut)

So one thing that I didn't like about Leverage Redemption (which I've only partially watched) was that several times I felt like the antagonists were too similar to specific real life people, like Martin Shkreli in the Card Game Job or Elon Musk in Great Train Job)

I mean, Leverage antagonists were always based on real life villains, but they usually changed it up a little bit, or mish-mashed a few so you couldn't immediately figure out which real life person something was based on

(like the Jailhouse Job where in real life it was juvie,

or the CIA experiment (Experimental Job) where in real life it was the OSS (which later merged with the CIA) and the victims were poor college students on financial aid instead of homeless vets,

or the Double Blind Job, which was a mish-mash of different pharmaceutical scandals)

I can't really put a finger on why this overt similarity to real life situations bothers me so much.

At first, I thought it was because I like some escapism in my shows (unless I'm watching John Oliver or something like that) and don't like being reminded of specific real life current events,

But recently I've been watching Elementary (CBS) and there's an episode, Breathe (S6 E13) which is also clearly based on Martin Shkreli and that didn't bother me about Breathe at all. In fact, I quite liked that episode.

So to recap the Elementary episode:

The episode starts with Holmes and Watson investigating the death of a lawyer, Frisk. They quickly deduce that Frisk is actually a prolific and extremely competent hit man who was killed by one of his clients, over blackmail material he kept on his clients. (One file was stolen.)

After consulting with Frisk's assistant, they realize that the missing file is of the character based on Shkreli (whom I'll call Shkreli henceforth), where Shkreli had hired Frisk to kill someone who was about to create a better, cheaper treatment for cystic fibrosis (which Shkreli was price-gouging)

However, they later figure out that Shkreli never hired Frisk, nor did he kill him.

Instead Frisk realized that Shkreli had hired a different hitman to kill the researcher (using his hitman skills to see that the death wasn't an accident), tried to prove it and/or find the hitman Shkreli hired, failed, and committed suicide framing Shkreli (for both his murder and the hit); It turned out Frisk's son (with the aforementioned assistant) had cystic fibrosis and Frisk needed Shkreli to go down so that cystic fibrosis drugs would stop being price-gouged.

(Frisk's assistant (and baby mama) was in on the whole thing; Frisk was for unrelated reasons on the verge of getting caught as a hitman anyway, so he told her about his other job and they hatched the plan together.)

After deducing all this (and thus foiling Frisk's plan to take down Shkreli) Holmes and Watson manage to con the hitman Shkreli actually hired into turning on Shkreli, so Shkreli does go down for that hit, anyway.

(But Holmes and Watson's plan really used the fact that they have the police on their side, so it's not implied that it was better than Frisk's plan, they just had resources that Frisk didn't have.

Given the resources he had, Frisk and his partner's plan was brilliant, and the partner did an excellent job carrying her part, lying to the police and steering them towards Shkreli while pretending not to be Frisk's partner or know anything about his being a hitman etc.

And I loved that Frisk figured out that Shkreli had hired someone to kill the researcher when the pathologist or whoever examined the body didn't. I loved them coming up with this ambitious plan and going all in on it, I loved the son's mom playing the innocent assistant who couldn't believe her boss was secretly a hitman.

And I loved that Holmes was initially upset when he realized that he and Watson had foiled Frisk's plan to take down Shkreli, but then they come up with a way to make sure Shkreli goes down anyway.)

Anyway, comparing this to the Lev Red episode, I think what I really don't like about the Lev Red episode is that the actual victims of Shkreli's price-gouging had no part in taking Shkreli down

I mean, even in original Leverage, the clients almost never take part in the con (with a few exceptions like Boiler Room Job and Long Way Down Job),

but I guess when it's this close to a real life situation, it really bugs me when the actual victims are cast as helpless damsels

Anyway, I hadn't realized how much this specific aspect bothered me until I watched Breathe and realized that as long as the actual victims are portrayed as awesome and active in taking down the bad guys, I don't mind the similarity to real life as much as I thought I did

Vanquishing Vanity

Eliza always told me I looked great for someone in her thirties. Good for!? Thirty is the new twenty. I know I still look good because I still turn heads to this day. I get compliments on my body from horny desperate bachelors. Eyes are usually being pulled down by the “gravity” of my breasts, as one artist said. Not only that, I have opened my own law firm; Jolyne Guerrero Law. I have come up working my way from being an intern and finally broke out as a prosecutor in order to help my clients.

Guess that is why I caved and made a little work out area in my office. All I did was move some of my office equipment to one corner of my room and set up some dumbbells and a workout ball. I know my job as a lawyer does not require any physicality, but I do like to maintain my figure.

Eliza referred me to a specific work out series she found. Apparently it was ripped from a VHS and converted to audio form. For the best there is no visual for me to look at. Always gives me the sense I am being watched and judged. That happens to me enough in the courtroom, I don’t want that in my own home!

I push play on my tablet.

"Welcome to your new workout obsession. By the time it's over, you'll be ready for any fight." the male voice said. "To begin, we're going to be doing some stretches. We'll start with our legs, simply take a step forward and try to touch the tip of your toes."

Easy enough. I straighten my legs and bend down to touch my toes. They were looking oddly red and pointed. I never painted my toenails, but I would have at least trimmed them. My legs are becoming thicker with my feet following suit. Two of my toes merged together on each foot. I hope it is just me not focusing.

"Alright, stretch time is over. Next, we're going to be getting some cardio going. You will jog in place for five minutes before we move on to the next stage. Don't over-exert yourself, keep a slow tempo."

Running in place, my footsteps are becoming heavier. I know I am going to get complaints from the neighbor downstairs. Looking at my feet again, I notice that not only do they look gray, but they are further away from me. Why was I having a growth spurt?

My stomach looks more chiseled. I don’t have a belly or anything, but this is way tighter than it usually is. This had to be the work out working. Right?

"Excellent work, let's keep it up. We're going to be working on the glutes now. We're doing ten reps of squats. Feel the burn!"

As I resume the exercise and try to focus on completing my squats, a rip is heard. I turn around and see a reptilian tail. What is this recording doing to me?! I have to stop! Something is very wrong. I have to turn this off!

"Do not be distracted, every moment you pause your workout is another moment you waste both of our time," the man's voice suddenly said. "If you keep it up, I'll have to get someone else to take over your regimen."

Before I can turn off my ipad and stop the file, the voice became a deep guttural growl "W-what did you just say?"

"What's your name?" the voice snarled.

Odd question. My name is…no. No no no! Why can’t I remember it? This should be the easiest question in the world. I write it every day for my job and my business even has it in its own name!

I grip my head, as a different sensation is occurring. Two bumps formed on my forehead. Bumps begin to widen and sharpen, turning into some kind of horns. The tips of which are sharp enough to cause a drop of blood to form on my finger.

"For every second you're not exercising, more of your mind will drip away, no better motivator than stakes," the voice said with eerie confidence. "Now then, you still have more reps left." The voice went back to the peppy man from the start of the recording.

"I cannot focus on the workout if these changes keep happening!" I retort. Why did it sound so...wrong? I've always had a tail...right? It was weird because I couldn't remember my name, that's it!"

"Three reps to go."

Not wanting to disobey, I continue with the final three reps. My name? Why can’t I recall it? I know I have a law firm so I try to think back to that. If I could just remember the name of my firm I could get some of my name. It was a Jo sounding name. Jodie? Joanna? Jordan? There can’t be that many woman names that start with Jo. I know it is Jol-

"Alright, let's bring things back down to the ground." the voice said. "Get down on your hands and feet, it's time for push ups. Like the squats, we'll be doing ten reps of them.

The next work out instruction snapped me back into reality. Worst of all, I lost that name I thought of. I already hate it when it happens normally, but this felt like dropping a phone in an open sewer drain. I get back onto the floor, hands and toes flat on the ground and begin to push my chest onto the ground.

Around the sixth push up, I noticed my breasts were not hitting the ground as much any more. This tape did something to my girls.

"We're sticking back to the ground because now it's sit-up time! Get that core worked out!"

Perfect, this will at least give me an opportunity to look at my chest. As I figure out how to lay on the ground with my new tail I can finally look. Where did they go? Both were gone, or at least became really flat.

It always annoys me how many co-worker, clients and especially strangers ogle and stare at them. Still I was proud of them. I could not deny they were sexy and that made me feel good. Now they are just gone! I want to cry, but I can’t. I do not want to make these changes worse than they already are.

As I continue to do sit ups, I also notice something odd with my clothes. The lack of them.

My yoga pants are completely gone. Yet, I feel like my butt has some kind of padding that is preventing me from feeling my wood floors. Getting a better look at my leg is much worse. These are tree trunk legs, almost as thick as my torso. In between parts of my legs, there are gray and black scales forming that look inhuman next to my tan skin.

What is more unnerving is the river of red on my toe nails and legs. Like fire is forming on my legs. I am able to briefly touch it and there is some kind of heat coming from it, not unlike a fireplace.

"We're close to the end, let's start winding down." the voice said. "Let's loosen the neck, just simply roll your head along your shoulders in a circular motion, that'll help your neck and shoulders to wind down."

This is a nightmare! I'm not supposed to have scales. I should not be almost six feet nor be completely nude. What did I do to deserve this?

As I continue to roll my neck, my hair is growing longer, blonder, more unkempt. My precious black locks are gone. Before I could bemoan the loss of my hair color, there is a sharp pain and then a rip from what is left of my top.

Cold air from my ceiling fan blows against my sweaty back and a shiver. I briefly look behind and I see some kind of wings. Not feathery or light, it felt firm. Am I becoming some kind of dinosaur?!

"And last one! Hold your arms behind your head and stretch them out. Then after a 45 second hold, raise your dominant arm into the air, while keeping the other one bent." The voice returned to that deep commanding voice from earlier.

None of this is right, it is all wrong. I’m not a man, my hair isn't supposed to be this long, blond or unkempt. I should not have these horns or a tail. Before I could ponder everything about me that was wrong. Wait how did I..?

Nothing. My mind dulled, and I was staring ahead with a blank expression on my face. My arms are held in the last stretch I could remember. Remembering anything else is impossible. All I can do is process what I am feeling.

My face feels like it is being grabbed and pulled forward, like some kind of muzzle. The sharp teeth that were clustered in my mouth began to space out, giving me sharp fangs. Yellow eyes losing their pupils and become pure gold.

More spikes grow around my hairline. Not that it matters as my mane of gold has expanded, losing the tight and trimmed hair I had. Any patch of skin on my body is covered with scales. My legs are already the proper size. Not to mention a cod piece to hide and protect my new “other tail”.

A pulse goes through my body. I feel as if I am expanding. My arms grow longer to match the proportions of my enlarging torso. Any flab from my breasts is chiseled into firm muscle. Pleasant pops in my spine provide relief as I grow taller and taller. My tail has become thicker, I have full control of it. I slam it against the ground.

The Crimson Mare & Boulangerie Colmar is a bar and boulangerie/café that works gameplay-wise as both a bar and a café and is best placed in Britechester. I've wanted a really nice pub feeling for The Crimson Mare and I hope I succeeded in making it ~classy~, yet also cool enough for university students to visit and have a drink with friends. Boulangerie Colmar is partially inspired by some boulangeries I've visited over the years in France and Southern Germany, it has a lot of charm and is the perfect place to meet for a coffee date or with friends to study gossip.

The left/corner building is The Crimson Mare - a long-established pub loved by students of Britechester University and residents of the town alike and the building on the right is the Boulangerie Colmar, a café in which your sims feel as if they're in a cute street café in France.
