I feel like Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans doesn’t get enough love. I could never put into words how heartbreakingly beautiful this show is. Its characters are complex and broken. They are children forced to become soldiers. They fight hard for what they believe in until the bitter end even if it’s hopeless.

If you like darker adult stories I highly recommend giving it a chance even if you aren’t into mecha. It’s not a mecha show really, it’s a war drama that happens to have robots.

Amazing characters, a tragic story, found family, complex political plot lines, what’s not to like?

mikazuki + before the beginning

The world was still young, they say, when Inari came to the mountain. When the islands dotting the ocean were fresh with the scent of earth and the waters around them were clear, clear blue. Inari chose it as her home for its beauty and its purity, a place where harmony and peace reigned as the streams laughed their rippling laughs and the trees spoke a mysterious, rustling conversation that only the leaves understood, drinking up the goodness of the soil with roots that ran deep. But then came famine, for not even paradise is safe from the vices of man. Some accounts describe a dove of the purest white, leading travelers to rich, fertile land. Others claim it was a fox, clever and cunning, but appearing nonetheless in time of need. Still others insist upon a divine being, human in form, radiant like no other, descending from the heavens to bless the people with the food they had so desperately prayed for. The shrine was founded then— a place of worship, gratitude, and a plea for Inari to stay, to continue to bless the mountain with her presence. A promise of stewardship and protection. That was why, Sora explained as she taught him how to till the earth, to speak quietly to the seeds as they lay asleep beneath the surface, to laugh with the river, to understand the rustling of the leaves; that was why it was such an honor to be trusted with the care of the mountain. Theirs was the responsibility to nurture, to guard, and, most importantly, to share what they had with anyone in need. Sanji never forgot it.

(WAUGH THIS WAS SO FUN TO DO and also how did you know that i've been purposefully trying to avoid the writing equivalent of same face syndrome by challenging myself to make this one unique, let me cry on you??)

i am intending on cramming as many of the actual lines from the song into this fic as possible and am heavily considering doing one of my fave things (bullying judge) by making him die in a plane crash ♡

I'm on episode 6 of Iron Blooded Orphans and I'm really fascinated by Mikazuki as a protagonist. He just doesn't give a shit about the political side of things or even the business side of things, he's just interested in helping out his friends.

Delivering food to the staff, risking his body in order to protect people, ruthlessly murdering anyone his bestie asks him to.

Homeboy doesn't give a shit about the wider implications of anything he's just a weapon to be pointed in a direction. And he also wants to deliver food and maybe hang out.

He'd be perfectly content as a pizza delivery driver who also hangs out and smokes weed, but his buddy has business plans so Mikazuki merges his mind with a giant robot and cuts down his foes without hesitation.

*cracks knuckles* (i am actually so excited to really get started on this one properly)

i humbly intend to offer a zs(z) historical/fantasy fic with samurai zoro and kitsune sanji! wherein sanji's home is a shrine on a certain mountain, zoro arrives one day (much to sanji's chagrin), sparking a chain of unexpected events that revolve around the shrine, a sword, a corrupt shogun, deaths that occurred a decade earlier, and the very mountain that sanji just wants to protect.

bonus points for traumatized, jaded sanji who distrusts people, zoro who doesn't gaf about politics but does care when his friends and family are in trouble, putting wano characters in a blender and gleefully sprinkling them here and there around the plot, and me being able to do one of my absolute favorite things in the world (finding new ways to beat up vinsmoke judge). also half-human-half-kitsune form sanji and everything that includes (obnoxious eyebrow wiggle here)
