me after my mom called and said 'hey I found this old canon eos 400D with a bunch of lenses if you're interested'
#why yes. I am. a bunch of lenses you say?#an actual legitimate camera?#it's probably older than a solid chunk of my followers on here but like hi yes I am listening actually.#she says it had a battery issue and it was too complicated for her to figure out#but I would loooove to at least see it and troubleshoot.#I love my new camera but it's not a 'real' camera because that's just not an affordable thing for me.#it's a very fun digital/instant hybrid that's GREAT for little trips and printing 'polaroids' [instax film] with friends and stuff#but I've really been struggling with the automatic controls. it does not have good... dynamic range I think it's called?#its lighting autofocus is bad and it's going to be the death of me#but if I can get this old camera mom found working then I might be able to get some cool stuff done with it that this one can't do.#it's out of date and I'd need to buy a CF card/cf reader (usb probably and not just an sd adapter)#but all things considered that's probably less than $40 for a few hundred dollars worth of equipment counting the lenses.#and filters! it has a polarizing filter that I am very excited about. even my current one could use it.#it 'sees through' polarized/reflected light. it's how people take pictures through windows or water or minimizing leaf shine etc.#and like. 'real' camera equipment is like >1k these days for the camera alone. it's not an easy hobby to get into#so it's really a 'take what you can get' kind of thing for me.#if I can get this to work then I'll have a great vacation/road trip/hangout instant-printing camera AND an Actual Camera™#even if the actual camera is a legal adult.#it would still get me laughed off of the photography reddit lmao but I'm suuuuper excited to mess with it soon.#loving the instax mini evo but it is much better suited to 'easy' shots and not actual focus/lighting/etc.#great camera! I will still use it for years but I am learning what it's suited for and what it isn't.#and hopefully what it isn't suited for will be something this new (well. old) one *is*#no live view which is... pretty fucking annoying but I am still excited

ok its mostly probably just "hey i had this other phone for years so i cant get used to the new one" but some features are so weird. yapfest incoming
the alarms do not wake me up. like im immune to this shit. the vibrations are too strong on a flat surface but nonexistent on my bed so once i take the phone to my pillow its over (its 10:47, my alarm was at 9) i dont use sound alarms to not wake up anyone else, only vibrations as sounds never woke me up anyway. now vibrations either? it also looks like ass when its going off i will have to look into changing the colors also it snoozes to 30 mins when i set my alarms to snooze to 5? i have too many alarms and didnt check all when they transferred to my old phone but how did they transfer when theyre set to 30 min?
i used to use the clipboard a lot. now whenever theres the last thing copied popping up and i tap it, it doesnt paste. idk why? this might just be discord but i feel like it also goes away elsewhere in searchbars etc. i also hate how where the clipboard was theres now a translate button and - ok i fixed that you can move them. maybe too easily so watch me accidentally move them around now
the search bar on the bottom. why is it on the bottom. i just do not see it put it back on the top??? you cant. when it was at the top you tap it and it stayed static, now it moves to make way for the keyboard and its distracting. the phone search in general is also turning into the win11 bs where you search for your apps and files but instead it gives you random shit from the internet. why is it showing me like random spotify playlists sometimes and google searches and shit
the camera and the gallery settings are an insult. everything being ai enhanced aside, the camera cant pick up colors properly and everything has fucked up contrast and saturation. after taking a photo it also auto enhances and fucks it up even more into a shitty muddy mess. theres also this weird auto hdr setting in the gallery that changes the view of the photo when you look at it either slowly or after like a second of opening it so you notice it, but its only a screen setting so the actual photo should stay unchanged, However if you edit the photo it turns this filter off tenfold and even if you just crop the photo it ends up super dark and low contrast. and good luck turning any of this off cause even if you find the settings it still does it.
i used to take videos and take video stills with the screenshot button. that still works, however i used to pause the vid, tap on it on the bottom so it opens the whole timeline and then use the slider to go thru the vids even frame by frame, then snap a screenshot and keep looking thru the vid for more. now everytime after you take the screenshot the timeline Closes, so whenever i then try to move the video slider it just moves me 6 photos away. why the fuck would you change this.
#hating new technology more at 8#also to mention however this was a missing feature on my old phone too#there isnt an extra sd card slot but instead a double sim. i have never used two sims and dont need to. why not make it a slot that would#read both or just make a new sd card slot. everyone needs extra memory. i have photos there that i can only read thru a mini usb converter#that heats up so badly when reading the card i cant even fucking use it#evil thoughts are being thunk

Step 1 : I made it to the bus folks. Almost missed it because they started getting on it way earlier than I thought they would. Hopefully I got there early too. The immersion has started, the bus staff only speaks portuguese.
Step 2 : 23h hours of bus. Only 21hours and 30 minutes until I arrive at my destination now.

Step 3 : arrive at Lisboa
#Leska learns live sound in Portugal : a mini series#I have my laptop however the charging stations are only USB soooo...I'm going to wait until it's 10 or 11PM to watch the LOTR on it

so i've noticed my mic has this sort of buzzing/static/fuzzy sound whenever i speak into it and it's been bothering me for a while now but haven't pulled the trigger to buy a new, higher quality mic. I bought this mic back in 2020 i believe and it's the Maono mic on amazon so i guess i get what i pay for (?) I was peeping at my VOD and omg the buzzing/fuzzy/static sound is atrocious, it only goes away when im not talking thanks to the noise gate i have but when i speak, MAN. Gross. And if not for the noise gate, it's just constantly fuzzing/static-y.
So i finally pulled the trigger and bought a new mic yay, i bought the Elgato Wave 3 (I say as I just posted earlier today that I need to be more careful with my spending.... but it's okay.... this is a necessity... this will bring me income....) I was debating between the Elgato Wave 3 or the Rode NT USB Mini, but since the Elgato one was on sale and has a mute button, I chose that instead teehee
#adventures with udon#hope i sound better with the new mic#the elgato was $20 more expensive than the rode one despite it still being on sale but at least it was on sale and not full price#woulda opted for the rode nt usb mini if the elgato wasnt on sale

Distressed kitten ringtone, from an old Samsung flip phone!
it's kind of sad that we don't really do custom ringtones anymore. most people just stick with the default list that comes with your phone, if they change it at all. if they're even aware they can change it at all. like yeah, people letting their phones ring in public is obnoxious, but wouldn't it be a little less obnoxious if it was something funny? or personal? people used to change the text tone of every contact so every time they got a text they knew who it was just from the sound. isn't that sweet? isn't that nice? don't you miss it? don't you want to scream when you hear that stupid apple pa-Ting!??? we could have a chorus of awoogas and clips of people's favorite songs and recordings saying '(blank) IS CALLING, WARNING, (blank) IS CALLING' and all things considered i would prefer that over pa-Ting!, pa-Ting!, pa-Ting!, whistle whistle, pa-Ting!
anyway im going to change my ringtone to the oldschool skype call sound and nobody will ever hear it because my phone is always on silent but i'll know. i'll know
#This old samsung flip phone that had this ringtone titled 'cat'#It sounds like a distressed kitten stuck somewhere#This was a phone old enough that you couldn't plug it in and copy the file (this was pre-standardization of mini/micro usb charging)#(the file was also a proprietary sound file not wav or mp3 so it wouldn't have worked even if I could've gotten it off the phone)#I had to record the file playing on my new phone as a wav (which means it's not as good quality as the og)#But it's still my go to ringtone bc it's hilarious to see people's heads pop up and then trying to find the distressed kitten#(In the meantime I'm usually muttering 'shut up shut up!' while trying to answer)

do i NEED to pack a zillion charging cords and adapters and power banks? probably not. am I going to stuff them all in my personal item anyway? oh absolutely
#the knock-off 3ds charger I got has a plug for my New 3DS XL and second plug for the DS Lite apparently?#I have no idea why I bought that one instead of just a regular replacement for the new 3ds xl#why do I even have so many random cables anyway. what did I need a usb-A to 3.5mm cord for???#I have a mini 8 pin that I'm pretty sure went to a camera I no longer have.#some day I oughta go through and get rid of. probably most of these tbh#I don't have any Apple stuff tho besides this new portable charger that I got bc the one I had before needed a cord to connect to the phone#and this one just plugs straight in and can switch between USB-C and whatever the fuck Apple's shit is called. lightning charger I think?#anyway it didn't really cost any more than one with just usb-c so I figured hey might as well have more options Just In Case

Top 10 Mini Fan Made in China: Affordable, Portable & High Quality
I Found the Perfect Mini Fan Made in China — And Here’s Why It’s a Game Changer
Summer sneaks up fast, and whether you’re commuting, working from home, or just trying to survive the heat, a good mini fan can seriously save your day. I didn’t expect much when I ordered a mini fan made in China, but wow—turns out it’s one of the best little gadgets I’ve bought all year.
So let me walk you through my experience, why I picked a fan from a mini fan company in China, what features surprised me, and what you should look out for if you’re planning to grab your own.

Why I Started Looking for a Mini Fan
I live in a city where public transport in summer feels like a sauna on wheels. I needed something compact, reliable, and ideally, cute. I started searching for china portable fan options online and was amazed by how many choices there were.
Some fans were USB-powered, some were wearable, and some looked straight out of a sci-fi movie. And the prices? Super reasonable. Most were under $20, and almost all of them came from Chinese suppliers.
The One I Chose: Small, Stylish, and Shockingly Strong
The fan I ended up ordering was from a rechargeable handheld fan factory based in Shenzhen. It was a soft pink color, foldable, and came with both USB-C charging and a built-in stand. Basically, a minifan that doubles as a desk companion.
What really stood out:
Quiet motor — I could barely hear it even at high speed
Three speed settings — low for face misting, high for actual cooling
Rechargeable battery — lasted around 5 hours per charge
Small fan body — fits right in my tote bag or backpack
It also had a neat LED indicator and a loop so I could clip it to my bag.

The Quality? Surprisingly Great
You might think a mini fan made in China would feel cheap or plasticky, but not at all. The build quality was solid, the buttons were responsive, and the fan blades were soft but powerful. It didn’t feel like a throwaway gadget—it felt like something I’ll actually use for a few summers.
I even dropped it once (okay, twice), and it kept working perfectly. I looked up the mini fan company later and realized they export to major retailers in the US and Europe. No wonder the quality held up.
What I Learned About Buying Mini Fans from China
After some digging, I realized there are actual mini fan companies and rechargeable handheld fan factories in China that specialize in exactly this type of product. Here’s what I learned from browsing around:
Look for brands that offer OEM/ODM services — it usually means they’re legit manufacturers
Check battery specs — 2000mAh or more is a good baseline
Don’t ignore reviews — especially video ones, they show the real deal
Compact doesn’t mean weak — my tiny small fan has enough airflow to keep me cool outdoors

A Few Other Mini Fan Types That Caught My Eye
While I’m loving my current fan, here are a few other china portable fan types I saw during my research that honestly look tempting:
Neck Fans — You just hang them around your neck and enjoy hands-free cooling. Perfect for walking or even doing house chores.
Clip-on Fans — These are great if you want a fan attached to your baby stroller, desk edge, or bed frame.
Solar-powered mini fans — Pretty eco-friendly, especially for campers.
Foldable pocket fans — The kind that opens up like a phone and fits in your jeans pocket.
Is It Worth Sourcing Directly from a Chinese Factory?
If you’re a brand or a small business, then yes — it absolutely makes sense to look for a mini fan company in China. Many of them offer bulk pricing, private labeling, and even custom designs.
In fact, the factory I bought from is a well-known rechargeable handheld fan factory, and they ship internationally. They even had fans that come with built-in humidifiers and aromatherapy features. I didn’t know I needed that… but now I kinda do.

These Mini Fans Are Underrated Essentials
Look, we don’t usually think of fans as exciting gadgets. But after using this one for a few weeks, I genuinely recommend getting a mini fan made in China. Whether you’re a student, a commuter, or someone who just sweats a lot (hi, that’s me), it’s a smart, affordable little upgrade.
And the best part? You don’t have to spend a fortune. The Chinese market for minifans is huge, competitive, and creative. There’s a design and size for every need—from small fans for your desk to high-power models for outdoor use.
So go ahead. Chill smarter, not harder.
