Played through In Your Heart Shall Burn again and ngl I'm feeling a lil feral thinking about writing Favian's canon perspective of it, a steadfast self-loathing atheist screaming on the inside the entire time.

Hates it. Understands the song but hates it being sung at him. Sing by all means for the hope of dawn, but not at him, and why the hell are they on their knees towards him.

They didn't see him rise from the dead by some miracle, he survived, just like they survived, and they fought, and what the hell do Andraste and the Maker have to do with it. He seethes at Giselle for not listening to him.

Cassandra's "they want you", he can handle. Sure, he led them out of Skyhold and they look up to him. So he steps up. Takes the sword. But every time someone calls him Herald, he dies a little inside. They don't want him, not really. They want the icon, the 'chosen', that he knows he isn't.

As I said. I'm getting feral about it.

...to silently screaming "what no why are they singing why are they kneeling for me make them stop, I'm Just Some Guy."

Because Favian knows he's not what Giselle thinks he is, no matter how hard she tries to make him think he'll believe it one day. He just feels he's being forced into deceiving a great many people to trust him on something other than his own merit.

Until he can be believed in as a person, as himself, not as some kind of holy symbol, it's a very lonely place for him.
