Deadfall Lakes are on the PCT near Mt. Eddy and Castle Crags in Northern California. Mt. Eddy, at 9,037' offers a stunning 360 degree view of Mt. Shasta to the east and the Trinity Alps to the west. Mt. Eddy is about a 4 mile round trip off the PCT.

He doesn’t offer a hand. Not when he knows the end result will always be a singular, invariable response like fate and the past and the linearity of time. He wouldn’t crouch down, anyway—his knees go sore in Gotham’s cold—and Mary has the look of a heckled cat, inclined to clawing. 

“Gotta say. The whole Chernobyl routine, what with the ‘make war, not love’—” Voice rumbling. Then, firework hands. “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned!” he croaks. Sam smiles. “Love it.” 

He means the nuclear power plant. Killer Croc. Mary’s radioactive headline in a history of front-page articles and rap-sheet heartaches. Her hair is Toblerone gold. 

“Anyway—” He draws in a breath. He drops his hands. “How about some showbiz?”
