au where 17 year old stan, just a week or so before the science fair incident, gets sent to 2012. he wakes up with no idea where (or when) he is, and ford starts asking him questions to figure out exactly when he’s from. stan assumes he’s checking for some kind of brain damage when this random guy (to him, ford hasn’t explained anything yet) starts asking about what day and year it is for him, and the science fair topic comes up. stan assumes maybe this guy is a judge, since he knows about the fair, and starts bragging about his genius brother and how he’s gonna blow his socks off with his motion-whatchamacallit. ford sits there almost in disbelief because he’d been so convinced that stan was bitter leading up to the incident, but here he was bragging to him about ford with no idea that he is ford

One thing that I've never seen people talk about is that Shen Jiu would want his body back. Sure, it may be irreparablely damaged and weak, but it's still his body. He never had any bodily autonomy until he joined Cang Qiong at seventeen, so he would fight tooth and nail to get it back rather than lose the right to his body again.

Thinking bout that specific behaviour where someone eats somethign and starts to make a "this is yucky" face and the mom of the group naturally reaches out ezpecting a spitout
#specifically i am imagining olivine doing this.#idk how much younger his siblings are#imagining that oli got the ultrastrict treatment as the firstborn#then his siblings afterward get a bit more leniency and are... allowed to reject food or be picky or whatever#but if he had to take care of baby aged kids or.idk. picky eaters or smth#and he got used to BEING the hand that offers the 'out' to a sibling eating a yucky thing#i didn't notice this behaviour until i watched my friends with young kids#because. i'm not used to seeing my friends do that behaviour. yet. here they are#the toddler makes a scrunched disgusted face#and the parent immediately sticks out their hand. ready to accept the bolus of rejected toddler food#armed with a nearby napkin#it's a strange behaviour. never really thought about it until i saw it in action.#i guess the baby CAN't grab the napkin and spit food out politely into it (on their own hgahaha...)#is there any way to force the kid to just eat the thing? like. if you don't offer your hand or a napkin or whatever and they just concede?#that doesn't sound like child behaviour. that kid (if not heavily traumatised in a specific way) will probably find a way to spit it out#yucky is yucky. this is how old time baby survive. by gettinb rid of the yuck#anyway i'm imagining olivine and garu at the dinner table#garu is eating something he doesn't LOVE... ＞︿＜and it shows on his face#olivine mindlessly offers his hand in front of garu's face#but garu is an i-wont-waste-food kinda wolf so he won't actually spit it out#he's just makin the face before he inevitably swallows his food (bc what's the point of concealing emotion)#but for a moment. before either of them can process what is happening#oli has his palm extended in front of garu's mouth. garu's face is scrunched up as he tries to endure the yucky taste#garu is confused as to what oli is doing because no one has demonstrated this gesture to him in this specific situation#does. does oli want garu to share his food? but... he's chewing it. should garu grab some off his plate and offer it now?#oli might be sleep deprived or something before he realises and withdraws his hand like haha! oops! sorry;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;muscle memory;;;

It's just.
Something about the fact the only way Conquest is able to connect to people is through fighting. Especially the fact that the only times he gets vulnerable are in the middle of combat.
Like, the way he sounds so genuinely sincere as he encourages Mark to keep fighting him and not give up.
The way he literally pets Mark's face in this scene.
How often is he able to make a touch that soft? To use his hands for something other than destruction?
And just.
The way he's not even looking Mark in the eyes when he begins talking about how lonely he is.
He's whispering into Mark's ear, as intimate a position as he could be in. The closest he will ever get to truly connecting with another individual. And the line delivery is so raw and quiet, like he's almost ashamed to say it out loud.
And the fact that he specifically talks about no one wanting to be his friend.
A Viltrumite.
Wanting friends.
Wanting attachments.
The very thing he criticised early on in the fight. The very thing he said caused weakness. And it's all he truly wants.
How many times do you think he's made this confession to someone before killing them and bottling it all back up?
ALSO THE FACT THAT HE SAYS HE COULD BE SO MUCH MORE.
Like, he's fantasized about what his life could be. He's imagined imagined a better future for himself. A future he knows he will never get.
I dunno, it's just something about his character is so tragic to me.

jet and zuko mirroring each other as being full of raw anger at the world and fueled by flawed ideas of justice but they both care so damn much and their motives are good even when their end goals are wrong. the way both of them see mistreatment and don’t hesitate to fight back and the way they’re willing to do anything to do so. the way they’re both so stubborn and take matters into their own hands without listening to their loved ones and end up self destructing as a result. the way zuko had the time to rework his worldview and heal but jet died fighting and angry inside
