So I'm only posting this because

1) my sister wants me to tell the world

2) I think I'm right lol

This post is about Alhaitham's chest button.

I've seen people trying to figure out what this is,, because it seems to be embedded in his skin and not part of his outfit. There was also that funny comic where kaveh tries to press the button to see what happens,,,

But here's where the chest button probably comes from:

It's called a srivatsa. It's one of the 8 divine attributes or astamahāprātihārya that have been compiled in texts and translated visually by sculptors to identify those who have attained enlightenment or have divine status. The srivatsa is a gem on the divine being's chest as proof of divinity. In my example I have taken the Jain tirthānkara because in this case the srivatsa acts as proof of attainment of divine knowledge. The srivatsa also shows up in different forms in Budhhism and Hinduism.

I think this explanation suits our guy well:

It's a diamond shaped gem. It signifies knowledge. What Alhaitham has here is definitely a srivatsa.
