In case anyone was wondering how I feel about NowThisNerd.

If you expect me to accept the half-assed apology from NowThis for what they did to SourceFedNerd you're wrong. Even though they actually did a good deed by separating themselves from the SourceFedNerd channel, they still ruined the 1 million subscriber platform that took years to build. They ruined a bunch of people's hard work. They played with a legacy that proved too much for them to handle. And most of all, they toyed with an audience whose voice wanted to be more than heard. The SFN audience essentially destroyed NowThisNerds ridiculous rebrand. Thank you and fuck you, NowThis. SourceFedNERD is back in permanent archive and everything is right.

Let it be known that what has been done to SourceFEDNerd is wrong and disrespectful to the fanbase and the former content creators for the channel. But not illegal or out of the parent company’s power to do so. Don’t be mad at the new hosts and spew hate at them. Just show the parent company that we are unhappy with the change by unsubbing to this once great channel.

Oh YouTube...

In my vlog video today, I said YouTube sucks, but I feel the need to clarify. I haven’t been a creator for long (only since October 2016, and even then, it’s a pet project, so I would barely call myself a creator), but I’ve been watching since late 2011 (which still isn’t as long as many, but it’s still enough time). I’ve watched it go through many changes, especially through the switch from desktop-oriented layout to both desktop and mobile friendly. And many of the creators I watched originally have moved on to other platforms/places, especially for income. Many of the LPers I watched have moved to Twitch for streaming, and those that made other styles of content have book deals or the like. Many of the creators, no matter what their content is, have also set up a Patreon. YouTube has just become so corporate focused, that it forgot that it created communities centered around personalities/types of content. And with all the changes, those communities are feeling neglected on the platform, and the mid and small creators can’t make it viable to just stay with YouTube. YouTube, as a business, needs to take a step back and remember what it was that built the site to what it is - those communities, and how to continue to improve the site for those that made it what it is, even if many have moved on to new projects. And not all of it is YouTube’s fault. Part of the problem is big corporations coming in and trying to buy in to these communities. But loyalties do not lie with names, but with the people that make those names (for reference, look into what happened when SourceFedNerd was rebranded into NowThisNerd). The viewers/communities follow the creators because that is who they support. That is why Patreon works so well for these middle/small creators; their viewers want to support them and this way they can more directly support them. And that is why Twitch is doing things better than YouTube. Twitch is making it easier for creators to create and interact and easier for viewers/communities to show support. And Twitch is making it easier for newbies to start up, especially with their new affiliates program. But there is just some types of content that can’t be made on Twitch that can be made on YouTube. So YouTube will still be used, even if people aren’t thrilled with what they’re doing.

YouTube is no longer user-friendly. It’s becoming more and more corporate-friendly. And that’s the problem.
