imo jax has no clue that hes miserable. like hes putting on a face for sure but i dont think he actually has the emotional awareness to know WHY hes doing that. he just wants to look cool and masculine and thats as far as he thinks on it. theres more to it but he doesnt know that. being sad isnt cool so he wouldnt even entertain the idea that hes secretly sad

#morrowind #almalexia #the elder scrolls #tes #tes fanart #art #id in alt #ok that's all the tags this needs ANYWAY #i started this 1. for experimenting with coloring from dark to light #2. because i wanted to draw someone kind of back turned to the camera #3. rendering practice for hair particularly #4. to go from sketch to rendering rather than doing lines to see if that doesn't smooth out my workflow a bit #5. because i've never actually used this brush past flat coloring #and out of those 1. i don't think i had enough of an idea of the palette or process to jump into dark to light painting so i did scrap that #and go with my usual “flat color with one of the mid shadow tones add shadows add light”#i do think that painting from shadows out is a thing people do digitally i just think this wasn't the drawing to test it on for me #i think i'd need to look at some other peoples processes and start with a more fleshed out idea of where to go #2 and 3 i think worked out. i'm gradually figuring hair out which i think is sick #4 i also think worked out for me which is also sick because i do get caught on lines a lot. they're fun sometimes but i think some drawings #benefit better from not having them and that it might be a bit faster #and of course everything i do is so that i can draw slightly faster and better for next artfight #as for 5. i have mixed feelings on this brush but that might be because i hate change. and also because i started this drawing on the 15th #of november and finished it yesterday. so im kind of just sick of working on and looking at it #it was a valuable learning experience and i think it came out well! i am also going to drop to my knees and rejoice when i can finally #close this file out and free medibang paint from under it so i can work on Literally Anything Else #thank you almalexia for being my test subject i should've used a reference for your armor when i did the sketch but i didn't #maybe the crown looks weird because of it maybe it doesn't. not my problem anymore i can draw other elves again #my art #iiii think i forgot a my art tag last time

crazy how the sanshee plush is one of the few actual direct confirmations on what a non-act 2 Natsuki’s home life is like because of how cagey she is on literally everything. Like this isn’t anything surprising or something you wouldn’t be able to extrapolate from the games but unlike everything else we know about her the implications are right there on the tin.

They literally did the character bio trope where where all the likes are normal but the dislikes are about their very specific trauma it’s just so funny they did that on the plushie card

#the thing is the rest of the bios are mostly normal it’s just this one with the yellong part why did they do that #idk if I’m stupid or forgot the yelling thing being shown directly in a non-act 2 context but I at least appreciate the confirmation #since I might just be mixing up fanon and canon considering 90% of what we know with Natsuki’s whole deal is interpolated from small tidbits #but like trying to understand anything about non act 2 Natsuki’s background is so funny because she doesn’t like to talk about anything #so all we know about her home life is by comparing her to act 2 and the secret poem plus psychoanalysing her thoughts and actions #is like the secret poem says Monika definitely made her dad worse but the problem is we don’t know how much #anyways and for all we know her dad could range from somewhat average dad to should be put on a watch list #and sometimes there’s dialogue like the one in self love about Natsuki worrying about her friends retaliation #and it’s probably meant to act as a confirmation to whether there’s physical abuse considering how out of left field the question is #but like it could be interpreted either way so it’s basically just Schrödinger’s physical abuse for no reason #I’m not criticizing or anything I think the characters being able to hold secrets is cool and ambiguity is awesome #and the choice to keep the ambiguous is intentional since the characters only share what their comfortable with #but I just need to vent about that one line in self love ok #like idk if I’m just stupid but there’s multiple interpretations but it’s seemingly both a decomfirmation and confirmation #idk it’s weird but her dad yelling at her enough to make it one of her dislikes is at least something in terms of actual evidence #damn it I put a paragraph in the tags again I’m sorry gang I’m not moving it #ddlc #doki doki literature club #tempestmothtalk

I've gotta say I'm not a huge fan of putting Dragonese into the HTTYD movie franchise. The concept of a full-on dragon language they all share, that can just easily be translated into English, just really doesn't fit imo

I imagine they're a lot more like Orcas

There are universal ways to communicate with strangers of different species, like it's pretty easy to signal things like "i want to fight you" "i want you to leave" "it's dangerous here" "i'm in pain" etc. by just body language and vocalizations- but ways to communicate more complex ideas have to be developed and learned as unique dialects by different groups, especially flocks of dragons consisting of different species.

I imagine a terrible terror flock or a group of Speed Stingers have a lot of an easier time communicating with each other than a Thunderdrum and a whispering death do.

Dragons with their own dialects, cultures, and habits depending on location and group is really cool- I just don't think it should be a direct translation of how humans do these things, such as straight up language or mythologies or such.

the "platonic explanation" is that I feel like shipping cheapens a perfectly good friendship and turns it into something shallow. Takes something that could have been interesting and turns it into just another dime-a-dozen romance you can find in a million other stories. Sands off anything cool or unique about the relationship and the characters so they can slot neatly into some little "A and B" dynamic. The Sunshine x Grumpy the Blue-coded x Red-coded the Cinnamon Roll x Killer. You just have to cut them down to fit in the Romance Box™.

Suddenly every interaction, every look they exchange, every word they speak, has to be seen through the lens of attraction, it HAS to be about the attraction, nothing else matters, they cannot have feelings about each other unrelated to that. If they like each other it's because they are attracted to each other, if they hate each other it's because they are attracted to each other, there can be no other reason behind their actions and feelings, nothing else about them as people matters anymore. They aren't people anymore, they aren't characters anymore, they are just "A and B".
