is that piece of media actually bad, or is it just not following the blueprint you projected onto it? is that work actually not good, or are you just demanding something from it that is absolutely antithetical to its themes, genre, tone, and narrative goal? is that story actually poorly written, or do you just dislike that it is not the specific things you wanted from it that it never set out to be, never was, and never is going to become? is it actually bad, or is it actually well-executed and you just dislike the story it chose to be because it isn't catering to your specific desires and expectations?

Finished Chapter 2! SPOILERS AHEAD! I must say that this chapter oddly made me dislike Makoto a bit. I genuinely thought I'd potentially dislike Byakuya in some ways more, perhaps feel a bit more upset at him than I do. On the contrary though, Makoto sucks in some ways. Which, don't get me wrong. Makoto deserves to be a flawed individual!! Golly though. For one, he really is a normie in some ways with how little he knows. How he asks so many unneeded questions, specifically when he was being dragged around by Byakuya which I get to some extent. He was very much disoriented from the whole ordeal, struggling to figure out why Byakuya of all people was interested in him specifically in regards of sleuthing about for the investigation. At the same time though, he needs to quit it with the rhetorical reciting questions that almost parrot what the other person just said. I get it's probably a bad habit of his but he need to get a grip about it. I can only extent sympathy for so long. Being a bit intentionally dramatic here by the way, but it sometimes feels like a tension killer or that it makes Makoto look a bit too dense. Don't get me started on the whole "rope" debacle too. Like, UUUUUGH! It's so obviously the extension cord Byakuya used in the library! So very obvious! Like, Byakuya took his time to bring Makoto to the library and I get Byakuya was being stubborn and not letting Makoto look at anything other than what he wanted him to look at. But it's so OBVIOUS!!! Though, I suppose I can blame a bit of this on the game design to some extent. Certainly doesn't make Makoto look smarter by any means. Maybe it's that denial where I can see Makoto's smarts shine in the trials so I feel like I'm internally being a bit harsh on him. I've seen others call him dense after all and I DO wanna look at Makoto in a positive light. I don't wanna be hating on the little bastard after all. It does get on my nerves sometimes though. and I can't lie to myself about that. Furthermore, the fact that I had to progress the trial by Hangman's Gambit-ing a slur for schizophrenic people regarding Genocide Jack. On a meta level, I get that doing D.I.D is a bit short and the full term is probably too long to do for just the second dang trial. Definitely not an excuse to use a slur that has no means being here though. Also though, in an in-world explanation, damnit, Makoto. You sure do have some shit you gotta sort out if that's what you're internally describing Jack as who, by the way, does not have schizophrenia. D.I.D and schizophrenia are very much not the same disorder. You called D.I.D a split personality multiple times which shows you know the difference. And, I can get it to some extent that, yes. This game is from the 2000s. The 2000s was definitely a more ableist time where terminology like that was flung around like it was nothing. So, in a sense of historical accuracy, I can understand why he might have said this word. I must also mention though that this isn't the first time Makoto was unnecessarily cruel to the others internally in his head. Thus, this certainly feels a bit more like a pattern of behavior for him. This is all interesting to me though with how much I've seen this side of Makoto ignored in some ways. He's surprisingly more judgmental than I feel some give him credit for. From internally thinking Taka was annoying when he first met him to finding Hifumi weird for his interests in Hifumi's own Free-time events (which I get. Hifumi isn't exactly written in the nicest light. Don't blame him for that. I blame the dated writing). I find this aspect of Makoto so intriguing though. In a way, Byakuya, the asshole of the group who dislikes everyone and mentions multiple times how he plans on following through with a murder, is less judgmental than Makoto. He said himself not to judge others by your own standards before the murder, during the investigation, and after the trial like he was the narrator of a children's book giving the moral of the story.

MENA Migrants have shown they do not assimilate. Save the "It's racist to say that" bullshit. It's clear as day, you can't ignore the culture and sweep it under the rug. You can keep having a bleeding heart and mass importing them, but it's will lead to civil unrest. It's chaos, oil and water. These people do not like western values.
The middle east and west have never shared the same values, I don't see why people think that will change because we try to make them economic slaves for cheaper corprate labor.
Arguments like these are only effective because whites are universalist and non-whites are not. Under this moral framework, whites are supposed to accept unlimited immigration as a way of righting an alleged past wrong, while non-whites can simply pursue their own interests.
If immigration is a punishment, surely countries like Switzerland which never had overseas empires should be exempt, right? Nope. Non-whites have no qualms about ravaging Switzerland too because it benefits them. They don't actually believe in this universal justice which they are appealing to.
If you simply adopt for yourself the same moral standard non-whites hold themselves to, these arguments roll off like water on a duck's back. We don't want mass immigration because it's not in our interest. End of story.
You said it all: it’s just a fucking pretext they use. They'd never tolerate this if the tables were turned and they know it.
Ask them about muslims (Arabs and later Turks) conquering India, North Africa, parts of Europe and they'll praise it.
Every race is proud of their conquests except Europeans who have to endlessly self-flagellate for being the best (and the most humane too) at it.
In case you're feeling soft on them and your empathy suddenly kicks in, remember what they're truly like:

This is about the Nice terror attack when a Tunisian man drove a truck on Promenade des Anglais in 2016 (exactly 9 years ago) killing 86 people + hundreds of wounded. North African youth celebrated, emptied the pockets of the dead and recorded the agony of the victims on their smartphones.
I hated them before but this pushed me over the edge.

One of the most obnoxious things about the diet/'natural healthcare people' or w/ever they call themselves is how difficult it makes it to look up diets/supplements that might help certain conditions (obnoxious, not dangerous, and to be clear there are much worse impacts of this attitude). Like I have hyperthyroidism, which comes with a stupid high appetite and deficiencies in weird combinations for which supplements/diet changes might help mitigate some of the symptoms. Hyperthyroidism is also entirely treatable, although leaving it for long enough can be very very bad for you! So I'm waiting atm for a specialist (for about 15 weeks, yay our breaking public healthcare system!), but also Suffering (tm) and looking to help reduce symptoms in the meantime. BUT every single attempt at trying to work out what might help is undercut by some level of 'buy our magic snake oil cure-all' or 'this fully treatable (genetic) medical condition is your fault for Eating Wrong'. The ones that aren't are nearly all scientific articles, and I'm struggling enough comprehending scientific articles in my own field let alone a completely different one!
#hyperthyroidism#medical issues#tw (for blocking)#this rant brought to you by me trying to establish whether magnesium supplements might help#(cause i need more D3 (as per blood tests) and the magnesium+ supplements seem to be the best option)#also minor pet peeve but literally half the info i can find is split between 'this WOMAN'S disease for WOMEN experienced by WOMEN' and 'cat#and one reddit post from a person claiming to have just ridden out a thyroid storm with vitamin supplements#and no#theres a 30% mortality rate for people with a thyriod storm WHEN THEY GET TREATMENT#and a 100% mortality rate if you dont.#at best the person misunderstood what they were experiencing and at worst theyre perpetuating misinformation#and either way its very dangerous to try and convince people not to seek treatment for hyperthyroidism#and potentially fatal if someone doesnt seek medical care during a thyriod storm#also gonna clarify that IM NOT USAMERICAN just in case the public health care thing wasn't clear#people who arent USamerican can have major systemic issues with their healthcare system (even if that system is public!)#If youre interested I have many discussion points about our health care system (good and bad)#although TO BE CLEAR I think private healthcare in NZ should be banned outright#and the way current politicians are flirting with the private sector is pretty much one of the most worrying issues with our current system#(im only clarifying the USamerican thing cause i've gotten USamerica specific health care advice before)#Like thanks but health insurance is entirely optional here (theoretically) and if i had it it would solve my issues#but i dont so i get to wait at least 15 weeks

I sat through one (1) 45 minute meeting with a nonprofit today at work helping plan the next steps in marketing their current fundraiser to build homes for families in cambodia and gained like so much fulfillment and joy out of my work that I have literally never experienced before

Had a dream that I can only describe as working like a FNaF-style lease review where if you fuck up thr FNaF-style part you die, & if you fuck up the lease review part you lose your home.
#phy.txt#there were like basically sections of the meeting because it was a batch meeting of 2 people from various homes that were all in trouble#before an insane price hike right before your family moves#& there's a mechanic of like. the meeting has different sectors those sectors present on their own#& your goal is to get the leasers to back down on the price hike at best but more likely just not evict your family at minimum#& there's mechanics where if a sector doesn't get along they present poorly & if they get along too well they slack off#to chat & don't get anything done & you can like. listen in on convos around you & name people in specifc sectors as incredibly niche#specific titles in this lease review to give their words in the group more weight & diminish the weight of others#but you only can name one person per title & once you give a title that person can only have that one & you can't give anyone else that#specific title & you can also give titles to the wrong person who will not help your case if you aren't careful#but giving out titles early makes the person with that title more productive for better or for worse#idk maybe you have a limited number of swaps where you can switch people out#oh btw. by fnaf style i mean there's enemies & shit to avoid meanwhile#like there's a passing sentry drone & if the lights are on when it passes it will bust in & nuke you#for missing out on rent previously ending your run#so while you're trying to wrangle this meeting you also have to keep an eye out for shit like that#at the start you get to pick 2 people from your family who all have stats & additional titles they can name#but everyone else is randomized#& it's meant to be played pretty quickly
