it would've been so fascinating to have andred stay and be a going concern for the main characters. i have a lot of thoughts about the proto-renegades of gallifrey yk. the almost-renegades who are subversive and strange but never enough to actually leave the planet, or can't find themselves the means to leave. andred is an extreme example but even people like romana i who are just weirdos that do it all a bit wrong. i like the idea that renegades wouldn't be as rare as they seem if it were just a little easier to become one

“oh, i really don’t mean to be rude—…um…i-i didn’t mean to assume, but it sounds like your…uh condition is caused by stress—but i’m not a doctor or anything. so you probably shouldn’t listen to me, y’know? so i mean, you said it just...happens. you can't really stop it, right? so maybe trying to fight it, trying to bottle it up, is making it worse. maybe if you just…let it out, even a little, it wouldn't build up so much." serapter rambled, fidgeting and gesturing largely with his hands where he sat atop the counter.

“sometimes, when i'm feeling overwhelmed, it helps to just…feel it and then let it go. to…t-to let the emotions flow, instead of pushing them down. it's like...what’s the word…a pressure valve, kinda?”

“release the steam before the whole thing explodes—or like, burns you or something.” said philosophical serapter.

“…the stress, i mean.” serapter clarified, adjusting his mask, which perpetually fell every now and then. he scratched at his blonde, golden-spun curls, that did little to ease his slight nervousness around pyro.

“sorry, am I rambling? i just do that, sometimes. just…thinking out loud, i guess? it’s probably not helpful. i…i just get carried away, especially when i’m trying to help. i don’t mean to like, micro-analyze you or anything, heh. uh, not that you aren’t interesting enough to analyze—you’re fascinating, i mean—”

serapter cut himself off abruptly, clamping his mouth shut. he ducked his head, suddenly finding the worn tile of the bathroom floor intensely interesting.

“sorry. really, really sorry,” he mumbled, voice muffled by the mask as he held his head in his hands, embarrassed.

extremely embarrassed. 

“i’m doing it again, aren’t i? just ignore me.”

a low chuckled rumbled from pyro that serapter found surprising endearing.

“i don’t mind.”
