I love this post! If I may, I also wanted to add something on--
ACCESSIBILITY!
It's a personal webdev passion of mine and it's been frustrating seeing a lot of newer websites adopting fancier or more mobile-focused design at the cost of accessibility to a wider userbase. Whether you're new to web design or not, making sites more universally user-friendly is pretty simple imo!
Users To Consider:
Visually impaired people
Hard-of-hearing people
Neurodivergent people
People who don't navigate solely by visual screen plus mouse or touchscreen device (e.g. keyboard-only users, other assistive technology users)
People with older/less powerful devices or poor internet service
And many more!
Overview!
Current accessibility principles can be summed up with the POUR acronym: content should be Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust.
Perceivable: content is easy for the user to see or hear. One example of this is that images/video/audio should have alt text or transcripts where applicable. For sighted users, text and backgrounds should have enough contrast to be readable (more on that below) and you shouldn't alter the site in a way that makes visually impaired people unable to enlarge text.
Operable: the user should be able to navigate the page by mouse/touchscreen/keyboard--any simple HTML site will have basic keyboard navigation options provided by the browser, just be mindful of whether adding advanced features could alter that. Also, if your navigation buttons are images, make sure to use alt text or provide an alternative!
Understandable: both the content and controls should be understandable and easy to read. This means that as well as being Perceivable, they should be organized consistently and placed on the same part of the page. Also consider making plaintext links more obvious with your color choice and/or formatting.
Robust: content should work with current and future technologies. This means it can be accessed by different browsers and operating systems, but most importantly for this level of design, it means being accessible to screen readers and other assistive technologies!
QUICK TIPS!!
Use alt text!!! Here's a w3schools page showing where you put alt text in the html code, and here is a w3c decision-tree on where and how to use alt text. ABSOLUTELY use it if you're using images as links!!
Color usage! When picking out background/text/link colors, check the color contrasts here or here to see how well they match up to the W3C's accessibility guidelines! -Write meaningful link text! Here is one guide on that, including stuff like keeping links descriptive for screen readers, not making urls into link texts, and keeping them short and informative
In-Depth Guidelines
WebAIM (Web Accessibility in Mind) is a site with a ton of content on different aspects of web accessibility. Here is a direct link to a page of their most-used tools and guides.
Right here is a nice, simple rundown of universal design when it comes to web accessibility. The tone is a bit more academic but I think it's a nice overview.
Much more in-depth is W3C's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines document! It's long and not necessarily exciting, but it's comprehensive AND has a nicely organized and linked table of contents that can lead you to suggestions for improving any features you're considering, meaning you can read the whole thing or just jump around to relevant or interesting parts.
I don't think I followed all of these tips in my own blog HTML or even the body of this post (oops) because I put it together on the fly, but if you can, I think these are all principles that are good to keep in mind🌟

neocities guide - why you should build your own html website
do you miss the charm of the 90s/00s web where sites had actual personality instead of the same minimalistic theme? are you feeling drained by social media and the constant corporate monopoly of your data and time? do you want to be excited about the internet again? try neocities!!
what is neocities?
neocities is a free hosting website that lets you build your own html website from scratch, with total creative control. in their own words: "we are tired of living in an online world where people are isolated from each other on boring, generic social networks that don't let us truly express ourselves. it's time we took back our personalities from these sterilized, lifeless, monetized, data mined, monitored addiction machines and let our creativity flourish again."
why should I make my own website?
web3 has been overtaken by capitalism & conformity. websites that once were meant to be fun online social spaces now exist solely to steal your data and sell you things. it sucks!! building a personal site is a great way to express yourself and take control of your online experience.
what would I even put on a website?
the best part about making your own site is that you can do literally whatever the hell you want! focus on a specific subject or make it a wild collection of all your interests. share your art! make a shrine for one of your interests! post a picture of every bird you see when you step outside! make a collection of your favorite blinkies! the world is your oyster !! here are some cool example sites to inspire you: recently updated neocities sites | it can be fun to just look through these and browse people's content! space bar | local interstellar dive bar creature feature | halloween & monsters big gulp supreme peanutbuttaz | personal site dragodiluna linwood | personal site patho grove | personal site

What is MEAN Stack?
In the world of technology, a stack is a pile of any type of objects. When we talk about a particular stack used in the process of development, it is a collection of frameworks, tools and languages that are used in coordination with each other. The technologies used are not randomly put but carefully assembled in order to create a single web application. Some popular technological stacks are LAMP which is an abbreviation of Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP, another one is MERN that stands for MongoDB, Express, React, Nodejs. You can learn more about MERN stack, its components and its working in this blog. There are a lot of other stacks that are popularly used in developing different types of applications.
While there are a lot of technological stacks available, it’s important to choose the most appropriate stack for your application that would deliver optimum speed and high performance. When you make the right decision, it gets easier for developers to code and the process of documentation also becomes flexible and uncomplicated. This blog is dedicated to the components and working of the MEAN Stack. Let’s get started!
The MEAN Stack
MEAN Stack actually refers to a collection of JavaScript-based technologies that are used to develop web applications. Therefore, the client side and the server side are primarily based on JavaScript. MEAN is an acronym for MongoDB, Express, Angular and Nodejs. It is a user friendly full-stack development toolkit that is ideal for developing fast, robust and dynamic websites as well as web applications. It is absolutely free and open-source and hence it is easier and more approachable for developers to make use of this quick and organized method for creating rapid prototypes for web-based applications. In this blog, we are going to talk in detail about all the four different technologies that form the MEAN Stack.
Constituents of MEAN Stack
As mentioned above, MEAN Stack consists of MongoDB, Express, Angular and Nodejs. In this stack, MongoDB is a schema less NoSQL database system, Express is a framework used to build web applications in Node, AngularJS is also a JavaScript framework developed by Google and Node.js is a server-side JavaScript execution environment.
A developer working with MEAN Stack works heavily with JavaScript based tools, he basically programmes in MongoDB, Express JS, AngularJS and NodeJS. Therefore, MEAN stack developers work on backend as well as front-end of any application. However, all these technologies are JavaScript based and anyone working on a MEAN Stack is expected to have an in-depth knowledge of JavaScript. Apart from JavaScript, a developer should also have complete information about each of the components. Let’s discuss all of them in detail
MongoDB
Express.JS
Angular JS
Node JS
MongoDB is basically a document- oriented NoSQL database written in C++ and is used in the MEAN stack to store and manipulate the application’s data. It is an open- source, cross-platform database that stores data in the key-value pair, using binary data type like JSON. A MongoDB document is very similar to that of an object in OOPS.
MongoDB is an important part of MEAN stack; however, it’s used separately to develop applications too. Mongo DB is an ideal database system in a case where you need to manage large sized tables with millions of entries. Moreover, MongoDB is easy to use, for example, you do not need to update the entire table to include a field. If you want to learn more about MongoDB and why you should learn it, you can refer to this blog about MongoDB.
Express is basically a ‘web framework for Node JS.’ It is a mature, flexible and a lightweight server framework that is designed to build single, multi-page, and hybrid web applications using the Pug engine that provides support for templates. It provides support for a debugging mechanism, template engines and handed HTTP request along with a bunch of other features that aid developers in making efficient applications. Express is fast, unopinionated and minimalistic and is probably the best framework for Nodejs. If you wish to learn more about Express.JS, you might consider going through this blog.
Angular JS is a JavaScript framework created and maintained by Google. It is an open- source framework which mainly introduces the MVC (Model View Controller) architecture in browser-based applications. The MVC architecture makes the process of developing and testing an application much easier and more efficient.
With AngularJS, one can use HTML as the template language and hence, HTML's syntax can define the components of the application. There are a couple of useful features that Angular supports, for example, dependency injection, data binding etc that helps eliminate excessive and lengthy code. Applications created with the help of Angular are smarter and support personalisation.
Node.js is a JavaScript execution environment for server side. It is used to create web servers as well as web applications. It makes use of a non-blocking and event-driven Input/ Output model. Node.js is a lightweight and an efficient execution environment that is perfect for data-intensive and real-time applications that run across distributed devices. You might want to refer to this blog in order to get more knowledge on Node JS.
Now that we have discussed all the major constituents of MEAN stack, it’s time to proceed to the next segment where we would understand the MEAN stack in much more detail. We would look at the architecture and working the of MEAN stack.
Functioning of MEAN Stack
In order to understand the functioning of MEAN stack, we need to first understand the role of each component in the stack as well as its architecture. Let’s get started with the primary function of all constituents of Mean Stack.
In MEAN Stack, MongoDB is the database that is used to store and retrieve applications’ data. The work of Angular JS is to accept requests and display results for the end user and NodeJS, on the other hand, handles client and server requests. Express JS make requests to Database and then returns a response.
The above paragraph depicts the utility of each component of the MEAN stack. It’s time we look at the entire architecture and working of the MEAN stack.
In the entire process, in the first step, the client makes a request that is processed by the AngularJS after which it moves to NodeJS that will parse the request. Express JS will then make calls to MongoDB to retrieve or insert data. MongoDB is the database which will retrieve the requested data and then return request to Express JS and then Nodejs will return that request to the client or the end user. Angular JS is used to display the result fetched from MongoDB at the client side.
This was the entire functioning of the MEAN stack and how each of the components coordinate with each other in order to make an entire application work. In the next segment we would look at the advantages and disadvantages of the MEAN stack that would help you understand the concept better.
Advantages & Disadvantages
Every technology has pros and cons and so does MEAN stack. In this segment we are going to discuss both the aspects of this technology, Let’s get started with the advantages and some of the most prominent reasons for using MEAN Stack while developing an application.
First of all, the main reason behind using MEAN stack is that it is used to create robust and maintainable solutions. Also, it is open source and hence it can be easily used by programmers for the rapid development of applications.
Another advantage of MEAN stack is JavaScript. As mentioned above, MEAN uniformly uses JavaScript throughout the stack. It is easy for developers to make use of MEAN stack to develop applications as the code is isomorphic.
MEAN stack uses very low memory footprint or overhead. It also avoids unnecessary groundwork and keeps the application organized.
We discussed some of the advantages of MEAN stack and probable reasons behind its popularity. It’s time we discuss the disadvantages of MEAN stack.
Disadvantages of Mean Stack
MongoDB is a part of MEAN stack, while this database is perfect for small or mid-sized application, it is not the best choice for large-scale applications.
Another disadvantage of using MEAN stack is that there is no specific JavaScript coding guideline in general. Also, if you have developed an application using MEAN stack, it's difficult to go back to another approach, there is also a poor isolation of server from business logic.
With this we have come to an end of the pros and cons of MEAN stack, we hope this helps you understand the concept better and make an intelligent decision the next time you are developing an application.
If you are excited about entering the world of technology as a MEAN stack developer, we would like to enlist some of the most common skills you would need to acquire. In the next segment, we also briefly touch upon the remuneration and future of a MEAN Stack developer.
MEAN Stack Developer
A MEAN stack developer is expected to work on both Front-end as well as the Back-end. For front- end, the developer should have a knowledge of both HTML & CSS along with a good understanding of programming templates and architecture design.
Along with front- end, a MEAN stack developer should also know about the entire process of web development, continuous integration, different cloud technologies, SDLC and should have some experience in developing applications in an Agile environment.
Apart from all this, a good foundational knowledge of Mongo, Express, Angular and Node JS is imperative.
If you have all these skills, you are all set to become a MEAN stack developer. When it comes to salary, a MEAN stack developer can earn approximately 90 thousand dollars per year.
We hope you have now got a brief idea of MEAN stack and the expected skillset and remuneration of a MEAN stack developer. Also, if you are interested in learning the basics of web development, we suggest you take a professional web development course.
The course that we recommend would be Konfinity’s Web Development Course The course is well-researched and is one of the most beneficial training courses out there. It is developed by experts from IIT DELHI in collaboration with tech companies like Google, Amazon and Microsoft. It is trusted by students and graduates from IIT, DTU, NIT, Amity, DU and more.

300+ TOP FLASH Interview Questions and Answers
FLASH Interview Questions for freshers experienced :-
1. How To Embed Flash In Html? After creating a Flash movie you choose File > Save As from the top menu to save your movie.Save the file as "YourFlahFileName.fla". To embed the Flash movie you just made into an HTML page, you should go back to your Flashprogram and do the following steps: Step 1 Choose File > Open. Open a Flash movie you have created. Step 2 Choose File > Export Movie. Step 3 Name the file "YourFlahFileName.swf". Choose the location where the file is to be stored (in your Web folder). Click OK. Step 4 Open the HTML page where you want to insert your Flash movie. Insert this code: 2. Explain The Flash Vs. Animated Images And Java Applets? Animated images and Java applets are often used to create dynamic effects on Web pages. The advantages of Flash are as under: Adobe Flash loads much faster than animated images Flash allows interactivity, animated images do not Flash does not require programming skills, java applets do 3. Who Can View Flash? In September 2000, NPD Research, the parent company of MediaMetrix, conducted a study to determine what percentage of Web browsers have Flash preinstalled. The results show that 96.4% of Web users can experience Macromedia Flash content without having to download and install a player. If you do not have the Shockwave Player installed you can download flash player for free from Adobe's site. 4. Where To Start The Adobe Flash? After you have installed Flash at your computer, you should go through the flash help that are included in the program. Start Adobe Flash, click Help in the menu and choose Lessons. These lessons will teach you the basics of Flash. 5. I Shoot Underwater With A Ttl Strobe That Doesn't Allow You To Set Flash Exposure Compensation. How Do I Set Fill Flash With This Set Up? Let's assume that you have an N80 body in an underwater case and are using underwater TTL strobes. Here you could set flash exposure compensation from the N80 body (assuming the case let you access that control). I'd tend to set the N80 to Standard TTL if I wanted to fiddle with flash levels, though, as in balanced fill-flash modes you don't know what compensation the camera is already adding (i.e., you'll only get repeatable results with Standard TTL). 6. Is Everyone Required Flash Player Plugin? No because they do not like "blinking things" on their screens, some users choose to disable or not install Flash Player. 7. What Is Flash Tweening? Tweening comes from the words "in between". With Tweening you can go from one keyframe to another and specify changes in the animation and let the Flash program create the frames in between. According to Me, Tweening is an animation in between the objects or frames. 8. Flash .swf Movies Can Be Very Time Consuming To Edit It is very laborious work to change a Flash web page quickly. For this reason, you will almost never see a dynamic content page like a news site utilizing Flash for its rapidly-changing content. Instead, Flash is used more for decorative purposes, and for advertising and online gaming purposes. 9. I Understand From The Sb-25 Manual That The Built-in, Retractable Bounce Card Is Meant For Use With The Flash Head In A Vertical Position. I do (this is true of the SB-24, SB-25, SB-26, SB-28/28DX, SB-80DX). That's because it helps keep a little light from being lost, but more importantly, it provides just a bit of catchlight in the subject's eyes (the bounce directly off the card). 10. Who Can Create Flash Movies? To create your own Flash movies you have to buy a Flash program from Adobe. The latest version from Adobe is Adobe Flash Lite (or Flash CS3 Pro). If you do not have a Flash program, you can download a 30 days free trial version of Flash from Adobe.

FLASH Interview Questions 11. It Seems That Most Recommendations For Using Fill Flash Talk About Using -1.3 To -1.7 Stops Of Flash Compensation. This Seems Like Very Little Flash (compared To The Ambient Exposure). Would Not -.5 Or -1 Stop Be Better? Most nature and scenic professionals use -1.3 to -1.7 stops for their fill flash setting because they are trying to do one thing only: increase shadow detail (an alternate way of saying this: decrease overall scene contrast). Why? Because exposures for slide film need to be biased to the brightest object in the scene (i.e., overexposure of slide film is VERY bad). Since film has a limited dynamic range it can record with reasonable detail, if you set your exposure to put the highlight at the white point, you often lose shadow detail. The purpose of the fill flash, therefore, is to raise the film's response curve at the shadow point without further blowing out the detail. The -1.3 to -1.7 values are often just enough to pull another "stop" of useful shadow detail into an exposure without adding unduly to the highlight exposure. Films like Velvia are especially troublesome 12. Can Flash .swf Movies Be Very Time Consuming To Edit? Yes It is very laborious work to change a Flash web page quickly. For this reason, you will almost never see a dynamic content page like a news site utilizing Flash for its rapidly-changing content. Instead, Flash is used more for decorative purposes, and for advertising and online gaming purposes. Its possible to change quickly when the object is connected to database. In fact its more faster than other OOPS projects. Dynamic content can be done in flash so fast! 13. Some Organizations Block Flash Movies From Being Received Through The Internet. While this is partly motivated by fears of Flash viruses and Flash hackers, the greater motivation is disciplining staff. Many managers of private companies do not want their employees playing Flash games at their office computers, so they will ban Flash movies at work through technical blockerson the network. Do not be surprised if your employer chooses to implement a ban of Flash at your office. 14. Not Everyone Has The Required Flash Player Plugin? While this is partly motivated by fears of Flash viruses and Flash hackers, the greater motivation is disciplining staff. Many managers of private companies do not want their employees playing Flash games at their office computers, so they will ban Flash movies at work through technical blockerson the network. Do not be surprised if your employer chooses to implement a ban of Flash at your office. 15. What Is Vector Graphic Animation? Vector graphics" are different from "raster graphics" like jpg, gif, png, bmp graphics. And vector graphics use math formulas to draw animation shapes, while raster graphics save millions of tiny colored dots to draw photos. 16. Tell The Difference Between Indexed Array And Associative Array? Associative array can have values of any type, whereas indexed arrays contain only numbers. Indexed array contain only one type of data, where associative array can have multiple type of data. Associative array contain values indexed by integers, whereas assosiative arrays contain values indexed by string. Associative array contain value pairs, whereas indexed array contain single values. 17. Can Some Organizations Block Flash Movies From Being Received Through The Internet? While this is partly motivated by fears of Flash viruses and Flash hackers, the greater motivation is disciplining staff. Many managers of private companies do not want their employees playing Flash games at their office computers, so they will ban Flash movies at work through technical blockerson the network. Do not be surprised if your employer chooses to implement a ban of Flash at your office. 18. I Shoot Underwater With A Ttl Strobe That Does Not Allow You To Set Flash Exposure Compensation. 19. If We Set Slow Sync As You Suggest In Answers On The Many Online Forums You Visit, Would Not We Be Opening Ourselves Up To Blurred Shots When The Shutter Speed Gets Significantly Below 1/60? Yes and no. When you shoot with flash, there are two exposures going on: the flash exposure on the subject and the background exposure. If flash is the main source of light, a stationary subject lit by it should always be sharp, as the slowest Nikon flash duration is about 1/830 of a second. The background, however, very well may go soft or get blurred by poor handholding technique or subject movement. Many photographers have learned to use this to their advantage--there's one style of flash that uses very long shutter speeds and panning/zooming/tilting to purposefully blur the background yet still use the flash to "freeze" the subject. 20. You Understand From The Sb-25 Manual That The Built-in, Retractable Bounce Card Is Meant For Use With The Flash Head In A Vertical Position? I do (this is true of the SB-24, SB-25, SB-26, SB-28/28DX, SB-80DX). That's because it helps keep a little light from being lost, but more importantly, it provides just a bit of catch light in the subject's eyes (the bounce directly off the card). 21. The F601/n6006 Had A Special Control To Set The Fill-flash Option On The Body; Is There A Similar Way To Set Fill Levels On The F90x/n90s And Sb-28 Combo? If you're using an SB-24 or later and a modern Nikon body that doesn't have a built-in flash, you set fill levels on the flash. With your combo, you can set fill by pressing the Minus button on the SB-28 three to five times (-1.0 to -1.7 stops). However, there's a caveat. If you have the camera set to Program (P) exposure mode and the flash to TTL, you're in what is known as a "balanced" mode. In balanced modes, the camera tries to equalize the flash and ambient light levels. But, when everything is on automatic, the camera can only set shutter speeds of 1/60 to 1/250, which might not let the camera set the proper ambient exposure. In dim light, for example, the camera would underexpose the background (though the subject would be lit by the flash). Thus, if you dial in fill flash in this situation, both the ambient light and the flash would be underexposed, ruining your shot. So, the caveat is this: don't set fill flash levels on your SB-28 unless you know that the ambient exposure is going to be correct. For dim light, that may mean you need to set Slow or Rear flash sync; in bright light, that may mean you need to set High Speed (FP) flash sync. 22. How to Play a movie clip? The following is the process to play a movie clip: Right click on MCTRio symbol in the Library panel and select Linkage from context menu. Select Export for ActionScript from Linkage Properties dialog box. Verify MCTrio appears as linkage name in the Identifier text box. Select Export in First Frame and click on OK. The exported movie clips with Action Script are loaded before the first frame of the SWF file is loaded. Specify the movie loads on the first frame for avoiding playback delays. Cancer Scare & Update | 8.13.17.
Guys, it’s been a roller coaster. It’s been real. But when isn’t it? ;)
The last time I posted an update was in May. I was about to leave with my family for a cruise to Alaska  (I shared my photos in the posts below!) I had just gotten over pneumonia a few weeks before and was diagnosed with acute bronchitis, the day before our cruise. But thankfully I still was able to go, and did really well! I think that was completely a gift from the Lord. For the first time in 8 years I ate whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted. I enjoyed myself and I did pretty well physically compared to normal that week! A divine gift!
The cruise consisted of of taking in all the beautiful sights, dog sledding, glacier viewing and late night motown dance parties with my people. Which was obviously the highlight. ;)
We got back, and everything got bad for me almost immediately. I’m just so thankful the Lord allowed me to have one great week. What a gift.
After we got back, all my GVHD symptoms just got way worst. They could have totally been triggered by all the poor eating, pushing myself, and way too many antibiotics (that unfortunately were necessary!). The most alarming part though were my suspicious, familiar swollen lymph nodes. I was SURE my cancer was back. Of all my close calls over the years, I have never in my life thought, “This could be it…” until last month. It was such a different process than the first two times. I really had to hound my medical team (when you have 12 different specialists who want to see you regularly, it’s your job to communicate with them and make sure everyone’s all on the same page. Which takes a lot of time, energy, and co pays!) I had a needle biopsy first which the results came back inconclusive. Then finally after weeks of waiting and phone tag with facilitators was able to have the full surgery biopsy last week to find out if it was cancer.
It was a rough week because it was also the two year anniversary of the day my Dad unexpectedly died, on that same day that I was diagnosed for the second time, August 5, 2015 by the same biopsy that I had last week. It was eerie and all too familiar. Many reminders of pain which forced me back on my knees to depend on the Lord’s strength. Which I often forget to do. But finally, God answered one of my pleading prayers with a “yes!”, the results came back negative! I felt like I had been given a second chance at life… but the reality is, this is really like… what, like my tenth chance at life now!? Thank you, God for all of these gifts that I’m not entitled to!
…BUT. I still have ALL these symptoms. Some of those bad symptoms come and go, some get worst and sometimes random new symptoms appear without a warning. I still have three debilitating autoimmune diseases and a “failing” heart (but can thankfully be restored over time) that I traded the cancer for. I am so thankful that I’m here and alive though. My Oncologist said she thinks this is all just GVHD. The swollen lymph nodes, everything.. I’m not really sure what to make of that. But I’m thankful it’s not immediately life threatening.
A huge struggle for me constantly, is knowing how to navigate conversations when people ask how I am… I probably bring this up in every post but I’m constantly reiterating it, in hopes that it’ll spur on either a change in my life, or a change in someone else’s who may benefit from others (*ehem, YOU, whoever you may be*) being aware. Isn’t that what a cancer blog is for though? :)
I go to a huge megachurch full of super sweet friends and acquaintances who read this blog and lovingly pray for me. You might be one of them! Or maybe you’re one of my acquaintances from the creative / photography industry. Or maybe you’re a stranger. Either way, welcome! And thank you for caring enough about me to want to read this blog! So, to my loving and faithful prayer warriors, thank you for sharing in the joy with me! I’ve been given another opportunity to live more days in remission of this cancer; and Lord willing, after my 5 year remission marker in 2020, officially be cancer-free! It would have been a complete 10 year cancer journey from The beginning. Wow, time flies.
How have I been?
Well, this is my space (unlike the social media outlet that taught me to be an HTML wizard at the age of 12) Let’s be real! I’ve been terrible! But it’s okay! Since the beginning of June I’ve barely been able to get out of bed, let alone stand or walk for long periods of time… let alone drive to frequent doctors appointments and have the emotional strength to pick up my phone and respond to sweet and thoughtful “deep” texts (I use the quotes not in any negative sarcasm towards my friends who’ve texted me, but towards texting in itself!). Let alone have energy take care of Caleb or maintain our tiny home well. Let alone do anything else outside of that. (So if you’ve reached out wanting to get together and I haven’t followed through with you, this is why. Not because I don’t want to.)
Along with the fatigue (that’s from addison’s disease / adrenal failure caused by steroids that they tried to use for treating GVHD…. unsuccessfully) The rashes on my skin have… Well, some places have gotten better because of a new potent herbal tincture I’m taking, and some places have gotten worst, like the skin in my mouth and other sensitive areas. The ulcers in my mouth and tongue have gotten so bad that it hurts to eat, talk, and even smile. So I’ve been living off protein shakes, green juice and water for the last month. At least I’m still getting nutrients!
To be clear, here’s my dilemma that I feel like I can’t win. When people (and I’m specifically talking about passing conversations, one on one is a different ball game) ask how I am, their responses to my answers tend to be a little intense. It adds some unnecessary stress.
I feel pretty miserable most of the time, but God is still good! So when I see people in passing, or quite often I’ll have acquaintances and strangers PM and ask me probing questions that I don’t have emotional or physical energy to respond to. So, I could be that person who complains on social media. I could. It’s really tempting sometimes. But that’s so selfish and off putting. No one should be that person, no matter how hard your life is. Let’s build each other up. So, to try and counteract my temptation to complain (and also my desire to be a faithful example of how a true Christian responds to trials) I make an effort put a positive spin on it. Life should be full of positive and real spins, am I right!?
It’s the reactions that I struggle with. If I calmly say with a smile, “Well, the cancer treatment worked.” Then people automatically respond in such extreme jubilation as if my health is suddenly just as good as theirs now. I’m so grateful to have people in my life (or even watching from the outside) who CARE that I’m alive! Thank you so much for wanting me to be here! But sometimes that eager response from others puts this unspoken pressure on me to have the same physical abilities as everyone else. Which unfortunately, I don’t have. And looking at the facts: I probably never will. Because it effects everyone so differently with such dramatic ranges, some  people slowly die from Chronic Graft vs Host Disease. Some people get it in their lungs after a few years, and have to walk around with an oxygen tank at all times. Some people have to have parts of their organs removed because of it. Some people have it mild forever, and then some have it intense for a few years and it starts to lessen over time. There’s no rhyme or reason to it. Let’s pray that mine lessens over time! But ultimately, that’s up to the Lord. This is His way of keeping me dependent in prayer. It’s a lot to process and can be overwhelming. How do I navigate that? I don’t know. I’m figuring it out.
I do believe the body has the ability to heal itself. So I’m working harder than I ever have before, to support my body in healing and recovery. It’s probably going to take several years. But unfortunately unlike many other autoimmune conditions, Graft vs Host Disease isn’t caused by a permeated gut or years of poor lifestyle and environmental factors. It’s caused by my medical team getting as close to killing *me* as possible with the highest doses of chemo and radiation, and reviving me with someone else’s stem cells. So it’s not really “my” body attacking itself, it’s my donor’s cells that are attacking me. Remedies that would work for normal autoimmune diseases may benefit me because they’re healthy or anti inflammatory, but it doesn’t give the same powerful result as it would for someone with a more common autoimmune disease. But the GOOD part about having GVHD? My donors cells are actively attacking the Leukemia too. The worst my GVHD Is, the less likely my cancer is to come back. So like I said, traded one disease for another but at least I’m alive!
Sorry, that was a tangent! Back to the point. On the occasion when I AM extra real with acquaintances in passing, it can get awkward real fast! Oops!
When I say I’m good, I get a mountain of praise and applause. When I say I’m bad, I get a mountain of intense, “Awwwwwwwwwwww I’m so sorry!!!!!” followed by a head tilt and expression of pity. But you know what, I’m not criticizing anyone for that, because it’s such a natural and caring response.
With all of that said though, if you’re still reading, if you are one of my sweet acquaintances who cares, can you please do me a favor? Will you help me, by being calm and emotionally balanced if you want to talk about what’s really going on with me? Perhaps rather than asking me probing questions while I’m standing, walking somewhere, be aware that I get dizzy and out of breathe after standing and talking for a few minutes. It’s embarrassing to admit in the moment, especially to people I’m not close with. I don’t want to attract attention by talking about it, because usually it makes others feel bad which isn’t fun. It’s humbling to admit that on here, but it’s also easier to say it on a platform like this than making any one person feel uncomfortable for not being telepathic.
This is my life, and I realize that I SHARE on here publicly. I OPEN up that door to allow responses. So I understand the natural ramifications of those choices, I am responsible for that. I can’t blame people for responding in a natural way! No one in particular came to mind when sharing this, it’d just make my life way easier if more people understood how to be helpful in this way. :) and I’m sure it’s helpful for others too! I’m not the only sick one out there, chronic health conditions and cancer are so sadly on the rise! We can all benefit from being thoughtful of others! I know I need to grow a lot in this area too.
I’d like to write up a “Do’s and Don'ts” post on helpful things to say (or not say) to those who are struggling. I feel a little more motivated to do that now, so you might see that coming…. Well, whenever I have energy to make it a priority! ;)
Wow, if you’re still reading, thank you! Thank you for your prayers, for taking a solid amount of your day to read about *me*, when you could have been thinking about *you* and all that you have going on in your life.
I hope this update so clearly makes you thankful for the things you have that I (and many others) may not have. That’s ALL I want, is for YOU to have tears of joy over the little things that you have: Like health, energy, pretty hair or the ability to not live in survival mode each day. If my trials can help raise your awareness of others and grow in your own gratitude, it’d be worth it.
Yesterday I was so overwhelmed with constant tears of joy. Look at what God has given me! I don’t have active cancer and my hair is growing back after falling out from GVHD last year. My oncologist is hopeful about a new GVHD drug that we’re waiting on insurance to approve. I was diagnosed with a very rare personal women’s health issue that I’ve been dealing with for a few years. Along with everything else, I discovered this week after years of feeling alone that there’s a cure for it! Two weeks ago I honestly thought that I was going to die of cancer or graft vs host disease in the nearer future. I thought through how I’d serve my loved ones in my last days and those thoughts made my heart crumble into puddles of ceaseless tears, aches, and pleading to the Lord.
And now I feel this hope. Not only hope in the fact that my hope isn’t HERE on this earth at all. Not only do I have hope that Jesus handed to me on a silver platter, after I spat with in his face for years of rebellious youth. I don’t deserve THAT hope, and THAT hope could have been enough by itself. But He’s also given me hope in the fact that maybe my life can come to some kind of normal someday! Maybe someday I’ll have the energy to adopt children and be a mother. Maybe someday I’ll have energy to run my photography business again. Maybe one day I’ll have energy to finish my book, or start the lifestyle blog I’ve been wanting to start for so long! Maybe someday Caleb and I can have a little bit of normalcy. That man sacrifices so much for me. In between the lines of these blog posts, there’s a strong leader of a man who struggles. He literally beats his body into submission of God’s word, tirelessly. He deserves twice as much respect than I do, and rarely is recognized for it. God is using him to help me write these words. And to mean them.
Hope is a beautiful thing. Today I’m thankful for hope.
What are you hopeful about or thankful for in your life? Maybe count them out and make your day a little better. :)

Leif and Nanna for the meme ?
Sorry for the late response!
Who puts up the holiday decorations? I suppose Finn taught them all about Noba and Ethnia, so they celebrate many different types of holidays. I feel like they’re very organized about it; they have a list of the decorations, and any kids have assigned roles in decorating. I think I just tried to combine the canon verse and a modern-day AU for this question, oops :PWho eats the others uneaten pizza crusts? As depressing as this sounds, I think that if he only had enough food for one kid, Finn would give Leif food and have Nanna go to bed hungry. She’d say she understood, he’s the prince after all, but…Who always forgets to pick up their wet towels in the bathroom? Neither seems the type, but Leif’s more likely than Nanna, I suppose.
Who talks smack while playing video games? Ugh, what did I do to the font?! I’m too lazy to go into the code and mess with it, especially since I don’t actually know html. Anyway, FE4!Leif.
Who watches Jeopardy and calls out the answers? Leif always pouts and tells Nanna that he would’ve guessed it after she says it, heh.Who is more likely to cry over a sad book or movie? Their life is a sad story. Leif. Nanna seems to hold herself together pretty well when Eyvel gets petrified, and just tells Del “Poor mother!” in FE4.Who sings along with the radio? Hey, being a troubadour has to count for something, right? I could see Leif liking classic rock, though.Who falls asleep on the other? They both do, because that’s how it’s been since they were little kids :)

13 Email Marketing Mistakes to Avoid for Better Engagement
With an average ROI of 3,800% and 3.7 billion global users worldwide, which is predicted to grow to 4.1 billion by 2021, email seems to hold a position within the top three most influential sources of information for quite some time.
Great news for email marketers, isn’t it?
But here’s the problem:
As email remains an essential component of marketers’ strategy for 95% of business organizations, the battle for customer engagement takes place for dear life.
Competition is high, and it’s so easy to get lost in rules, trends, and experiments in email marketing. Aimed at creating and implementing the most effective email strategies, marketers still get trapped with the most common mistakes.
In this article, you’ll find out 13 of them and learn how to avoid these mistakes for better open rates, engagement, and conversions.
1) Working with outdated mailing lists
As you know, mail providers set requirements to the mailing list quality. Also, they set limits on the number of allowable returns and complaints.
If not working with your mailing list, dozens of emails – long-abandoned or overfull mailboxes – appear there over time. The result? You exceed those limits, and your newsletter gets blocked.
What to do?
Use email validation services analyzing a mailing list. They help to delete non-working or suspicious addresses. In so doing, you’ll ensure reputation and improve the efficiency of your email marketing campaigns.
Another trick: grow your mailing list gradually.
First, take new contacts – those subscribed for the last three months – and add them to a newsletter list.
Based on statistics, delete “bad” addresses from your list.
Then, add old addresses (about 15% of the whole mailing list) to those newly polished – and send the next newsletter.
Keep this up.
Such algorithm allows you to defuse the harm and avoid the abrupt jump of emailing activity, so disliked by providers.
2) Sending unexpected emails
One-third of marketers send newsletters only when they have something to say.
Oops!
It’s a big mistake leading to customers frustration and unsubscription.
Just imagine:
One day you subscribed to a newsletter but didn’t get anything in your inbox. Suddenly, an email comes, offering a product. It’s likely you’ve forgotten about that subscription already. So you start boiling over and click “spam,” which does nothing well to that newsletter statistics.
How to do it right?
The best variant is to work with your mailing list from the start, even if you have only two contacts in it. Send at least one email per month!
If pauses happened, do your best to reactivate the list. Remind subscribers about your newsletter by proposing something sweet. As Pinkberry did:
3) Sending useless emails
The most common mistake of email marketers is that they create newsletters, useless for subscribers. They write about a company or a product, ignoring customer interests and worrying about nothing but sales. A product reigns on the emails, but efficient marketing campaigns don’t work like that.
What to do?
Know your audience and start thinking like them.
Learn their fears, doubts, and prejudices on your product.
Decide how you can debunk them in emails.
Write about a successful experience in using your product, not about this product itself. Consider words and tone you choose and don’t cheat by plagiarizing competitors.
Try to make an email creative and useful enough so readers would want to share it with friends.
4) No segmentation
Numbers have it, segmented emails get 14.64% more opens, 59.99% more clicks, and drive 18 times more revenue. It’s a big mistake to avoid segmentation of your mailing list: if people get irrelevant information, they will more likely unsubscribe or mark it as spam.
No wonder that default segmentation remains the highest priority for 80% of marketers. The same goes for personalization. In 2018, it’s no longer optional. It’s a must!
How to do it right?
Determine the core segments of your audience and decide on data you will need to separate them. If you don’t have anything except their emails, conduct a behavioral segmentation.
RFM analysis will help here. Work with each segment separately: ask feedback from “loyal” customers, send a special offer to “promising” or “about to sleep” ones, etc. Newsletters based on behavioral analyses are more efficient than general ones.
5) Wrong personalization
That’s what happens with your newsletter when you hurry up or don’t check tags:
Or, you forget checking the names visitors use to subscribe to your newsletter. Sometimes they misprint, write nonsense like “bdfrtd,” or jokes like “John (don’t write me, I am a pauper).” And when you use such names in the hope for customer loyalty, the result will be the opposite.
What to do?
Check all fields (names, tags, default setting) twice before mailing out.
Then, do A/B testing to see if addressing customers by name influences conversion.
Who knows, maybe the game isn’t worth the candle: users know that personalization is made automatically by tags, so calling them by names in emails may not cause the same positive effect it did before.
6) No systematic nature of newsletters
You can’t send emails to customers whenever you want or have time. The results will be low efficiency and open rate as well as a large number of “Unsubscribe me from this list” clicks.
How to do it right
Systematize your newsletter. Make a plan for several months ahead and decide on perfect days and time for sending emails. As for frequency, it will depend on your audience and marketing strategy.
7) Misleading or lying to subscribers
It’s the worst thing you can do to subscribers.
Let’s say, your subscription form promised to send discount codes to newcomers, but you didn’t do that. Or, a person subscribes to get informative content, but you send sales emails instead. Or, you promised to write once a week but sent emails every day.
It leads to a negative response.
What to do?
Keep your word. Promise less, give more. That’s what helps to build customer trust as well as turn them into your brand’s advocates.
8) Ignoring preheaders
A preheader is text appearing after a subject line of your email. Some marketers ignore it, though it’s another great chance to grab subscribers’ attention and motivate them to click.
Insert a line of code in your email’s HTML to add a hidden preheader for users to see when getting it.
What to write in preheaders:
summarize the message
hook with a value
offer a call to action
9) Subject line and email body mismatch
For historical marketing reasons, the subject line of your email speaks volumes. Some specialists use this trick without thinking, in chase of high open rates.
It works but disappoints users when they open an email and see a subject line and body mismatch. They will consider it manipulation, mark such emails as spam, and unsubscribe.
More than that, they won’t trust your brand anymore.
How to do it right?
Writing headlines is an art. It’s okay to motivate subscribers to open your emails, but their disappointment with irrelevant content will bode ill for the overall marketing campaign. Let your subject lines be relevant to the content you share with customers.
10) Giving no opportunity for feedback
Still send emails from “no-reply” or “admin” address, or from the inbox that no one ever checks? It’s a signal for subscribers that your brand doesn’t want to communicate.
What to do
People want to talk to people, not inboxes. Ask for feedback in your emails, share other channels of communication, introduce your support team. Giving them an opportunity to get answers to their questions, you enhance the chance of making them your clients.
11) Multiple CTAs
Some marketers overwhelm newsletters with several CTAs: go to the website, subscribe, order, leave your feedback, etc. People get lost in these endless streams of information and don’t know what to do first. As a result, your email marketing campaign becomes ineffective.
More than that, you can’t measure it because you have to analyze several metrics with various data.
How to do it right
Make subscribers understand what exactly you want from them. Make sure you’ve given all necessary information for that. You know the best option already: one email – one CTA, which will help to increase conversions.
12) Fear of experiments
Most brands don’t take the risk to experiment, and that’s why original newsletters are still rare today. Same-type sales emails jump to users’ inbox, so people can’t find any reason to spend time on them all. What do they do? They unsubscribe.
What to do
Analyze competitors and turn it topsy-turvy.
Watch best practices but don’t copy them mindlessly.
Think of juicy details you could add to own newsletters. What makes people subscribe? Your writing style? Your tone of voice? Anything else?
Here’s the example from Uber, shared by HubSpot:
13) No tests before launching
Getting into spam, wrong layout, HTML errors – all they are consequences of poor testing.
Rules and nuances of crafting an email are many. For instance, that’s what happens if you make it a picture:
Adaptability is lost (mobile versions don’t optimize images).
A subscriber won’t see it if his email settings don’t allow to display external images.
The chances to get blocked by spam filters are high.
Other rules include: avoid stop words, capslock, javascripts; don’t use link shorteners; don’t overplay with exclamation points, etc. It’s hard to remember them all, so the best way to find out if you do it right is to test a newsletter before launching it.
How?
Use a test mailing list, including your inbox at different providers there. Be skeptical to estimate the result and try to walk into the subscribers’ shoes. Does an email sound persuasive? Don’t be afraid to revise, edit, and make it better.
To be sure, even a highly experienced email marketer can miss or forget something. But as they say, not he who makes no mistakes wins but he who makes them less often.

Equifax Twitter Account Links Worried Customers to a Spoof Site
After 143 Million people were affected by a security breach in Equifax, the company created another site directing customers to check whether their data including name, social security number, and other private information has been compromised or not. Sadly, it led to another “oops” moment for the company when their twitter account linked the bereaved customers to a spoof site.
Turns out Equifax have been linking to @thesquashSH phishing page since September 9th https://t.co/qFPgxEmu8n pic.twitter.com/3K0AQawYrk
— Dl@RM@lD (@MadcapOcelot) September 20, 2017
Equifax has created equifaxsecurity2017.com to help worried customers identify if they have been hacked or are in the safe zone. However, the site was a separate domain and quite easy to replicate.
“I created the clone in less than 20 minutes”- Nick Sweeting, creator of Spoof Site
Nick Sweeting, a full stack developer decided to show the company and the consumers about the vulnerabilities within the site and created the clone in less than 20 minutes. He told an associated press how he used a command in Linux called wget and downloaded all the images, CSS and HTML code of the original site.
Correction, they tweeted it over 8 times! (Some of them have been deleted)
— Nick Sweeting 🚲 (@thesquashSH) September 20, 2017
He then fed it to a $5 server and created the clone in under 20 minutes with the aim of bringing it to the notice of all Equifax users. Also, he ensured the people that all their data was not stored as the form was actually disabled.
“It was super easy to just suck their whole site down with wget and throw it on a $5 server. It currently has the same type of SSL certificate as the real version, so from a trust perspective, there’s no way for users to authenticate the real one vs. my server.”- Nick Sweeting
After the site got blacklisted by Google Safe browsing, he has since taken it down and assured user how it wasn’t malicious but just a small effort on his part to show the vulnerabilities and poor design of the Equifax site.
It should have been built as a subdomain of an Official Site
Cyber Analysts have been criticizing the Equifax for using a separate domain for their “security improvement” site. They shared how it should have been built as part of the official site, perhaps as a subdomain to recognize other malicious and fake sites easily.
The one created by Nick Sweeting played on the URL by preceding equifax after security. His fake site was called securityequifax2017.com while the original one is equifaxsecurity2017.com. The URL is quite easy to be confused with.
So, it doesn’t come as a surprise when the site received more than 2000 hits which turned to around 200,000 when Equifax Customer Support employee redirected the concerned customers to the lookalike site by mistake.
The spokesperson for Equifax apologized for the confusion in a written email sent to Associated Press. They also mentioned that all the wrong tweets have been since deleted.
“All posts using the wrong link have been taken down. To confirm, the correct website is https://www.equifaxsecurity2017.com. We apologize for the confusion.”
From all the wrong tweets, it can be gathered that they came from a customer support employee or maybe an intern called “Tim”. Hoping he doesn’t get fired, Nick stated that it was not his fault but merely a major issue with Equifax who are still not amping up the security after the major breach that compromised data of millions of users posing them at risk of hackers and cybercrime.
“I just hope the employee who posted the tweet doesn’t get fired, they probably just Googled for the URL and ended up finding the fake one instead. The real blame lies with the people who originally decided to set the site up badly.” – Said by Nick Sweeting.
Apart from a written apology email, Equifax was not available for another response on the matter.

It was another case of a huge early lead and a heart-pounding finish for the Tigers.
The first five minutes of tonight's game were back-and-forth with both teams swapping leads and playing close. Then, two of Auburn's best three-point shooters from last season got hot. Bryce Brown and TJ Lang started dropping dimes from beyond the arc and Auburn played stellar defense for the remainder of the first half. The Tigers stretched the lead to 20 points at the break thanks to the efforts of Lang, Brown, and Anfernee McLemore having a career day, as well.
The second half saw Mississippi State finally get back to shooting well. Auburn, meanwhile, began to have some struggles shooting and fouling. Where points were coming from beyond the arc in the first half, they were coming in the paint in the second. Austin Wiley became more of a force going over 10 early on in the 2nd frame.
Meanwhile, the defensive struggles saw the Bulldogs cut the lead to 10 with just over 7 minutes to play thanks to a 9-0 run that saw good defense on MSU's side and poor defense on Auburn's. It's a tale Auburn fans know all too well this year as the Tigers can never seem to string together one absolutely complete game.
MSU's leading scorer - Quinndary Weatherspoon, had a heck of a night himself, scoring over 25 points. The Bulldogs were undefeated when he scores 20+ in a game coming into this one.
Auburn, meanwhile, only has one loss when recording 10 or more assists. The Tigers reached that number before the end of the first half in this one.
One of those statistics had to end. Thankfully, Auburn's continues.
The lead got down to 7 points with just under 2 minutes to play, but some sloppy play by MSU and a fast break alley-oop from Dunans to Purifoy stretched it back to 9 with 1:30 to play.
The end of this basketball game - the final 2-2:30 minutes - lasted somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 minutes of real time. It was crazy with the fouls (three called each way at one point before a second even came off the clock), checking who tipped a ball out of bounds, checking the clock, etc, the refs couldn't keep away from their whistles.
Mississippi State obviously watched the tape of the final minutes of the Alabama game as they went to a press defense in the final minutes and Auburn had no answer to break it to get the ball out. On top of that, the Tigers kept fouling when they least needed to, giving Mississippi State plenty of chances at the line. Although, plenty of those fouls looked questionable at best as it seemed the refs were doing everything they could to see that this game lasted as long in regulation as the South Carolina / Alabama game did in four overtimes.
The officiating in the SEC is... well, it's something. There is absolutely no reason there should have been that many whistles in the final minutes.
After close to 30 minutes (no, really), the final 2:30 finally ran off the clock. Auburn was able to hit some free throws and stretch the lead back out and come away with the win - even after MSU was able to shoot three free throws when Bryce Brown fouled on a three-point shot for some reason. There was a combined 35 (THIRTY. FIVE.) free throw attempts in the final 2:30. Auburn pulled it out 98-92 in the end, though.
That was about as ugly a game as I can remember just for the final minutes. As beautiful as the first half was, the second half was just abysmal. It belongs up there with 3-2. Burn the tape and let us never speak of this again.
