Do you think in a more peaceful time so post war, Peeta is someone who likes to crack jokes?

Yes, I think he does!! The man lives to make Katniss laugh!!

Not only does Peeta tell jokes. But he also pranks Katniss.

He gets worse when the kids come around and he can conspire with them against Katniss.

Katniss gives Peeta a bubble bath beard and thinks it’s the funniest thing ever. 🛁

“You could live a hundred lifetimes and not deserve him, you know,” Haymitch says.

The girl arrives at his door, weighed down with a basket and heads straight for the table. “Peeta will be over in a bit. He’s fielding a call from Effie,” she says, answering his unasked question.

They’re always bringing food by; the girl, like a cat, dropping dead things at his door, and the boy, like a retriever, stopping daily with smiles and bread. But a couple days a week, they’ll both show up with a meal and they’ll all eat together.

Apparently it’s one of those days.

“May be a while. He’s got a lot of groveling to do to cover all of our asses,” she looks at him meaningfully.

He knew he’d forgotten something. It’s been.. three months? He guesses, since he last spoke to Trinket. Not long enough in his opinion. The kid’s call should buy him another three if he’s lucky. He’ll have to think of a way to thank the boy.

She must be thinking something similar of herself because she says, “I know I know; I could live a hundred lifetimes and never deserve him.”

It’s said in jest, but he can tell she’s repeating something said of her before. Something she believes despite her levity. It irkes him, “Who said that?”

“You. After the Quarter Quell announcement.”

He curses under his breath, “really?”

“At this very table,” She knocks on the wood.

It does sound like something he’d say, “Why is it that you remember that shit and not the good advice?”

She shrugs, “I remember that stuff too. Just sometimes I ignore it.”

He grunts and she goes back to unloading her basket. He could leave it there, but it doesn’t sit right. He knows he has plenty to regret that he doesn’t remember, but now that he know… “I didn’t mean it.”

She turns toward him, looking skeptical.

“Alright, maybe at the time I thought I believed it,” he clears his throat, “but i was wrong.”

She looks away, but not before he sees her guard drop. It’s too much, too raw, so he adds, “He’s just as big of a pain in the ass as you are. You deserve each other.”

She rolls her eyes but she’s biting back a smile, “yeah, well I guess that means you deserve us too.”

Now it’s his turn to look away.

I'd like to think Katniss never officially asked Peeta to move in, and he still HAS his house. I think she just wouldn't let him leave??? Like he'd be like —

Peeta: Katniss I have to go home, its been almost a week. At the very least I need more paper and paint for the book! And a change of clothes (Peeta BEGS)

Katniss: Jumps up and wraps her arms around him oh Peeta please don't leave, what if somthings happens when you're gone? she sweetly says flattering her eyelashes trying to make him feel bad

Peeta: Katniss I live three houses down, nothing can really happen between the time I go back home and here? I can't just LIVE here forever!

Katniss: still holding on to him Why don't you just move all your painting stuff here? It's not like I'll ever use the other bedrooms? Make one into your studio.

Peeta: chuckling under his breath and grabs back onto katniss this is your way of asking me to move in?

Katniss: NO! I'd hate having people to live with people. I need my privacy, It's just more convenient if you move all your clothes, painting and baking materials over here. So you don't have to make the Commute every time you need somthing. putting her arms on his shoulders looking at him while shrugging

Peeta: seeing straight through this BS sighs and kisses her on the forehead WELL Miss everdeen, if that's the only reason you want me to do that, I guess if it's easier..

And when she gets mad at him she'll be like "YOU DONT EVEN OFFICIALLY LIVE HERE" and he'd just burst out laughing, because she did. And would send him "home" and he'd cry out "everything I own is here!" She'd just respond "and who's fault is THAT Peeta" and he'd cry luagh out "ITS YOUREES!!!!!"

And obviously, he would ended up listening going back to his "home" and in the middle of the night like a cat, she'd sneak into his house and would go to his bed and sleep with him, sinces she needs him to sleep. He knows it, so he leaves the windows unlock for her.

The only thing Peeta Mellark ever convinced Katniss of was that the world was safe and inherently good enough to bring children into.

imagine buttercup holding out long enough to see toastbaby #1 come into the world and now that he knows katniss and peeta are safe and protected and finally happy with their own child he can go back to prim :(

i know some ppl can see katniss as the strict parent, but it has never came into my mind. have you seen how easy she can be w prim? have you seen peeta in cf? strict personal trainer extraordinaire ??!! katniss would look right into her kid’s face- connect something w peeta like her daughters blue eyes or her sons face and would go ‘okay-just don’t tell your father this- please. i don’t want you in trouble my little ducks’ ! allowing them to get away w it. not to say peeta wouldn’t be a fantastic parent- he would just be the more strict on w rule and routine

I don't care what the everlark children are named and I don't care what happened to Lucy Gray. all I want to know is if Haymitch had domestic geese or Canadian geese

One evening, Katniss casually strolls to the house coming back from a hunt, when she hears screaming coming from inside. She runs in and in the living room she finds Haymitch, Peeta and the toastbabies.

The kids run around with outstreched chubby arms, screaming with joy as they chase after each other, trying to catch as many bubbles as they can.

Peeta has streaks of paint in over a dozen of colours all over his hands, arms and face; brush betweens his fingers and a beaming smile on his lips as his gaze switches between the canvas and the scene in front if him that he is trying to capture.

Haymitch, leaning against the couch while sitting on the floor, just draws in a deep breath to blow another big batch of bubbles, adding more and more of the glistening litte bubbles. (his lungs are on the edge of giving out, but he doesn't care)

She just grins and shakes her head in affection as she flings the five squirrels she shot over her shoulder to bring them into the kitchen, before she joins her family. 🫧🫧
