Did you know that 48% of adults enrolled in Medicaid and 51% of adults enrolled in SNAP/Food Stamps are full time workers who have a stable job

Did you know an additional 20% for Medicaid and 21% for SNAP also work full-time but have unstable jobs?

If 70% of the participants are working full time and do not have enough finances to support their basic needs, that should be enough of a reason to increase State (and Federal) minimum wages.

So I'm curious about Admin. Was he a program specifically designed for the ship, or was he taken from something else and applied to the ship. Was he basically alone the whole time that the humans were in cryo-sleep? Did he spend enough time around humans to get to know them (like/dislike)? If something happens to Admin, does he have a backup? Are there any secondary programs running in the background that are not Admin, or inactive programs that only trigger if something happens? In case of an emergency, what is Admin programmed to do? For example, loss of power in cryo or damage to the ship. What is his primary objective? Does he follow the sacrifrice the few to save the many? Is he a logic program and if so, would his fondness for Quiz have him constantly fighting his programming?

Also, How is the ship powered? What kind of components does it have to support life (I know cryo-sleep is a big one to save on resources), but does it have like a biosphere or something? Is the ship like a kind of Noah's Ark?

Sorry for all the questions. They just kept popping up one after the other. Also, alien/space stories always make me think of movies like H.A.L. 9000, Pandorum, and Wall-E >>.... So I'm a bit distrustful of technology in these situations. (8D But I could just be over thinking it!... right? Admin might just be like Rimmer from Red Dwarf, only more elegant and nicer!)

Yes, there are backups! If something goes wrong enough in his programming, itll reset him

There are secondary programs yes, but theyre all controlled by admin. If the ship is his body, some actions are like breathing and blinking (automatic, controlled but doesnt need to think about it) while others are like eating, drinking, and walking

In the event of a catastrophic emergency, he is progrmmed to save the many over the few. He will sacrifice human lives if it results in more lives saved overall (or at least, he's supposed to).

His fondness of Quiz has him constantly at odds with his programming

Are you ready for the 2025 Bendigo Queer Film Festival?

The progrm has launched for the 2025 Bendigo Queer Film Festival, celebrating 21 years of LGBTQ+ films.

BQFF is hot on the heels of receiving the 2025 GLOBE Victoria Pride Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Arts.

And are proud to announce the opening of ticket sales for a powerful weekend of cinema, connection, and community in July.

“This year’s program reflects the diversity and depth of queer communities; funny, raw, joyful, defiant, and tender”, said Festival Coordinator Tash Joyce.

“Sharing queer stories in regional spaces matters.”

“For many in our audience, seeing themselves reflected on screen, in a room full of kind strangers, is a rare and powerful thing”.

The program highlights global perspectives, as well as the strength of local voices.

Many of which are shaped by immigration, heritage, and the search for self.

21 amazing LGBTQ+ films.

This year, BQFF continues its legacy of championing queer storytelling in regional Victoria.

Twenty-one films were selected from over eighty-five international submissions by a volunteer team of programmers, filmmakers, and community members.

“We had entries from every continent except Antarctica”, said Miss Polly Filla, the festival’s Glambassador Polly Filla.

 “Apparently, the queer penguins were busy this year, but we live in hope.”

Films from Australia, Argentina, Italy, Canada, Mexico, and Greece cross a colourful spectrum of themes from dark comedy to light horror.

Bendigo Queer Film Festival is one of Australia’s longest-running regional queer film festivals.

Held annually on Dja Dja Wurrung Country in Central Victoria, the festival brings bold, diverse, and heartfelt.

Sharing LGBTQIA+ stories to local audiences while fostering connection, creativity, and community pride.

Queer perspectives through a new lens.

Australian selections from the festival program include ‘Mattress’, a poignant story of love and betrayal by queer Korean-Australian filmmaker Troy Kwon Byeongheon.

“I’m committed to creating stories that hold space for people like me, queer, Asian, different”,  Byeonhjeon explained.

“Through my work, I hope to be the representation I needed growing up.”

“And for those who might not understand our experiences, I hope my stories can foster empathy and bridge the gaps that divide us”.

Melbourne documentary maker Albert Koomen offers a heartfelt exploration of Melbourne’s vibrant bear community, with ‘My Bear Path.

Drawing from Koomen’s personal journey.

And Dance with Pride – A Journey of Identity Through Movement follows Colombian dancer Wendy Nedd.

As Nedd finds strength, identity, and joy through dance.

These films present both international queer perspectives and the strength of Australian talent.

Many are shaped by immigration, heritage, and the search for self.

BQFF award winners will be announced at the Saturday afternoon session of the festival, alongside the Audience Choice Award, voted on during the festival.

Bendigo Queer Film Festival runs from the 18th to 19th of July at the historic Beehive Building in Pall Mall.

Platformer Postmortem

The purpose of this prototype was to create a working platformer in the program GDevelop that can be seen as a learning curve for both game design and aspects of playtesting. Although most of my time was put into design rather than unique gameplay, I do believe I've learnt a lot from creating this and have enjoyed to challenges of video game design even if I didn't particually enjoy using the progrm.

If I were to change any processss I went through I would start with my time management by creating lists based on what tasks are more important to get done early on in the game. I dove straight into design as that's what I'm most interested in but it caused issues that were harder to solve in the long run, as well as setting a standard on what I should be doing first as industry game development never starts with the design over mechanics. In the game deisgn workshop written by Fullerton, it is mentioned that playtesting and prototyping is very important in the design process and allows for mass feedback without putting a lot of hard work into the art or mechanics first.

As for my prototype if I had more time I would've loved to implement more attacks and a unique aspect of gameplay such as mana or stamina. This would allow for the game to be played differently rather than just attacking the skeletons as you progressed through the level.
