another world | preview
azriel x reader
requested: Hey, I saw you were doing requests for azriel in ACOTAR and I've been having a lot of Azriel feels lately and was wondering if you could an Azriel x reader where the reader has come from this world and has read the books and is all like ??? and finds the Inner Circle to ask for help to get home and then her and Az fall in love and are mates and it's quite angsty because he can't leave his family but she can't stay but then she gets turned into Fae somehow and happy ending eventually. Is that ok?
word count: 966
warnings: literally none i think other than cursing in the authors note and ofc covid19,,, but be cautious
a/n: this is my first attempt at writing something long/for azriel again after a long time so im sorry if it’s shite and short. its also kinda just the preview. i needed something to get the ball rolling and the plot is so,,, detailed i couldnt just start from fuckall so here this flaming pile of garbage is. PS I HAVE AN ANNOUNCEMENT I MIGHT BE SELLING ARTWORK SOON. ill be posting a few of my works and if people become interested in asking for commissions ill be glad to sell. i dont have a job currently and its hard to get one b/c of COVID19 so this is kinda a last ditch resort so.. anywho. love yall and youll see anya’s art soon-ish. in the next two weeks hopefully. anyways please enjoy
Crap. That's all you could think as the pounding in your head made it impossible to truly come up with any other coherent thoughts. The light that poured through the windows of the unfamiliar house burned your eyes and the bed you now laid on was stiff and old. You were nowhere near home. Reaching for your phone in your pockets you cursed yourself, and your friends, for allowing you to drink so much. It seems that you had gotten so drunk, you’d landed yourself in thirteenth century England, or whatever the hell. Of course realistically this wasn’t true but wherever the hell you were, it seemed as though the person who lived here hadn’t been ‘with the times’ so to speak. A second assessment of your surroundings just confirmed that thought. The wood beneath your feet was old and looked worn and rotten. The bed is equally worn with no entertainment devices in sight. It seemed to be a studio, however you had been convinced it was a house, but alas, there was a wash station and a kitchen table no less than thirty feet from where you sat. Of course, no one was anywhere to be seen and to top it all off, your phone had no signal. None. It was even as if the section at the top left was blank which was completely abnormal. And you would have more time to question it if it weren’t for the front door clamoring open and a tall figure emerge through the doorway.
“Oh good, you’re awake.” The tall female muttered and wiped off her clothes. “Where am i?” You questioned quickly, fear wavering in your voice as you realized she was dressed quite oddly. A soft tunic that would have definitely dated back to the thirteenth century and some trousers and footwear that had seen better days. She gave you a puzzled look. “Prythian, dear.” She scoffed and went to the wash basin to set down the food you had just realized she had been carrying. “Where is that?” You pushed further. How long had you been out for? The lady gave you another odd look before busying herself again. “Where are we? Somewhere in England? Anywhere in Britain? It sounds British. Are we in America? Where?” “Prythian. The continent.” She stated, her looks of concern soon matching your own. “I have no clue how you ended up all the way in the Night Court, but no matter, I’ll bring you to Velaris before sundown and surely our High Lord will return you to the human lands.” She went on and you had to sit back down for a moment. “Human lands...?” You muttered to yourself and glanced back at the woman. Pointed ears, slender face and extreme beauty. Your memory, which had completely forgotten you until now, was slowly returning. Prythian. It sounded familiar. You just assumed you’d heard it in a world history or apush class. No, you’d heard it from a book. Yes, a fantasy book. But that wasn’t possible. “Rhysand. Rhysand is your High Lord?” You asked, narrowing your eyes. The girl’s face lit up. “Yes! So you do know about Prythian! You’re not a lost cause after all!” Ignoring the backhanded comment you attempted to make more sense of the situation. “I must be dreaming.” You shook your head and began to stand, suddenly feeling light headed. “If you’re so eager to go, I can take you now, I can assure you you are not dreaming.” She confirmed. You nodded. “Take me now then. Please. I don’t belong here.” With some more hesitant conversation, the woman, who’s name was Rinna, agreed to take you to Velaris sooner than later. She lived on the outskirts of the city, just before the glamour took hold, and knew you were human and in turn gave you all of the essentials. Warm clothes that didn’t look out of place, a bag for your things, and some food. “It’s an hour’s journey over mountain so be prepared.” She warned. You nodded before leaving her cottage and mounting one of the two horses she had owned. You needed to figure out what had happened. The last thing you remember was being with your close friend and laughing in a bathroom at a party you two were at. And then everything was blank after that. You had read, and loved A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas but never in a million years did you think you would ever find yourself so far from home, and so close to the world you had loved. You now realized why books were just books. They were easy to love from afar. But so close, so very very close, they became scary. Too real. You were far from home, with no idea how to get back. You hadn’t said goodbye to anyone and without warning, your whole life was gone. And in reality, you knew no one here. Except now maybe Rinna, and technically all of the Inner Circle. But they didn’t know you. And that made all the difference. You would figure out how to get home no matter what it took. You needed to get home. And as much as finding yourself in the ultimate fantasy world secretly excited you, it scared you. Greatly. You were human in the land of the fae about to meet the strongest High Lord in history. And you had no defenses. But now was no time to be weak. If loving these books had taught you anything, it was that being scared was the perfect time to be brave. You would meet your essential heroes but you would also find your way back home and have a hell of a story waiting for everyone when you got back.

Apparently I have to reupload this chapter because it disappeared? I have no clue how this happened so if anyone has ever heard of tumblr deleting posts let me know. (Ps: I still read all the comments on the last version and thank you much!)
(<-Previous) (First) (Commissions) (Ko-fi)
Keith hides himself on the pillow, again. All he can think about is how dumb this situation is. How fast his heart is beating is dumb. How much he is smiling is dumb. How he wants to get up and walk over to Lance’s room for no good reason is dumb. This is dumb. Being in love makes no sense. Did he just admit to his inner self that this was really love? Apparently, but he was too frustrated to care at the moment. “I hate you.” He groans against the pillow. “I hate you for making me feel this way.” It’s a lie.
Keith doesn’t even know what he wants. Is he supposed to want something when he is in love? He just knows that the sound of spending the rest of eternity with Lance and Kosmo in a field doesn’t sound bad. Neither does the idea of being able to hug Lance again, or spending a night with him in the Bridge, or…. a bunch of other things, many of them listed on letters he had read. Thinking about letters makes him remember that he still hasn’t replied to the last pen pal letter. He stares back up at the stationary and releases one arm from the pillow so he can try and get Lance’s last letter from his pocket. Maybe this would take his mind off the whole love thing for a while So he gets his pencil and a new piece of paper and starts writing his reply.
Hey Lance, Good know that the last letter wasn’t weird. And like you said/ wrote, I suppose with practice I’ll get used to it.
As soon as he writes that, he gets a little more excited about writing this reply, because this meant this letter thing was going to keep going. This connection he has with Lance that no one else has, not Hunk or Allura, only him. Is it selfish to be happy about that? He then stares back at Lance’s letter and spots the small doodle Lance made, he chuckles. Trying to mimic the cartoonish style Lance made, Keith draws himself on his letter as well.
Your sister sounds cool, but should I be concerned about that ‘almost broke my arm’ part? I assume that you would’ve told the team if it was something serious, but I just want to check. Though I understand what you mean, when Shiro started teaching me about self-defense tactics I had a few close calls myself. Though I think it only makes it more fun-
Keith reads his last sentence again and thinks about Lance going through the same close calls as him, he knows that Lance is more than capable but he starts worrying per anticipation.
-but you shouldn’t do the thing same as me, you might get hurt. I wouldn’t want that. You’re kidding about using the Red and Blue powers to make a pool, right? Because I am pretty sure that wouldn’t work.
He is still smiling as he writes this though, because Lance’s shenanigans are just too entertaining.
I knew I was right about your favorite color being blue. Also what you did for that girl was nice of you. You’re always looking out for other people, aren’t you? I mean, sometimes it seems like you don’t even do it on purpose, sorry if that was weird. I didn’t do much in the desert worth mentioning, exploring caves, sometimes I spent hours on my hoverike because it was … nice? Every so often I went to the nearest town to do some quick jobs and buy groceries, sometimes books too. Not really interesting.
It was his turn to ask a question, and it was really hard to not write something like ‘When did you realize you liked me?’ or ‘”When did you write the last love letter?’ or ‘Do you still like me?’
My question: Who was the first person you fell in love with? How did you know? The ‘according to Lance’ coolest samurai in town, Keith PS: You’re unbelievable

Dev Entry #2: June 2018
Hi everyone! In just 8 days, it will be the 3 month anniversary of the Saucy Suitors demo going up on itcho for NaNoRenO 2018. I’m here today to give everyone an update on how development is going.
I’m still working on Sho’s route and it’s coming along nicely. I’d guess that the script is about 35% written, with a current word count of 12,000 words. That might sound like a lot of words for something not even halfway done, but most of what I have left to write are the alternative dialogue options and endings.
The “true ending” route itself is about 60% finished at this point, and the reason it’s taking me so long to get the entire Sho route finished is because I needed to work out that “true ending” route first. I think that once it’s done, it will be much faster for me to get it finished, because by then it’d just be filling in the gaps for the other endings and dialogue options, if that makes sense.
I am simultaneously working on the art assets at the same time too, which is also a BIG part of getting Sho’s route actually finished. I think I have a minimum of 3 backgrounds to make, which is probably the most time-consuming element of the entire VN dev process for me. However, some of them can be reused when I begin working on the other condimen’s routes, so that’s a huge bonus!

I’ve finished a talksprite for a new character that appears only in Sho’s route, whom you can see above! Her name is Awoi Sugiyama. I wonder who she could be, and what relation she has to Sho? :3 hmmmm guess you’ll have to wait and find out~
Anyway, that’s all I have to show off to you guys for today. I hope you look forward to playing the route when it’s done! <3
I have a couple other things I wanted to mention. First, because development is going to take a while, I’ve been wondering how I ought to release the parts of the game that I *do* finish. Should I put out an update every time I finish a route, allowing you to play through it entirely? That would make it more like an episodic/chapter release. Or should I finish the entire thing and release it at once, even if that happens one or two years from now? I’m not sure yet. If you have any opinions, feel free to send an ask or message letting me know!
My last thought for today has to do with the fact that I’m making this game completely by myself, and whether I should continue making it that way or not. 🤔
It started out as a NaNoRenO project, and my very first VN project ever. I wanted to do something small and fast in order to help me get the hang of how to make VNs. But as I started writing the script and working on it, I started to have much bigger and better ideas than my initial one, and pretty soon I was making a *demo* for a full-sized otome game, and not a small but completely finished NaNo game.
Before NaNo was even over, I had decided to keep working on it and make a full game, and at the time the prospect of finding a few people to help me make it arose. But almost immediately, I decided not to do that. There were a few reasons for this.
1. I am an amateur and this is a pet project. 2. It’s not realistic to ask complete strangers to help me with making my amateur pet project for free. Especially people who know way more about developing VNs than I do. 3. I can’t promise them a share of the sales of the finished game, because I’ve always intended to release the full version for free. 4. I can’t (and shouldn’t, even if I could) spend money to pay them to help me with the game.
Basically, I don’t want to be one of those assholes offering “exposure” or something similarly dumb to a talented and skilled person. I really do feel like anyone I’d ask to help with Saucy Suitors deserves to get paid to do it, and that if I can’t pay them, I shouldn’t ask for help. And with that mindset, I’ve continued onward with development.
Still, the thought came back to me this week while working on Awoi’s talksprite. There’s no denying that having even one person volunteer to help me with story editing/feedback would help me enormously. One person helping me with coding would speed everything up A LOT as well - just like with the UI, I *could* invest a few dozen hours into learning how to do it myself, but that’s all time I could be putting towards writing and art. (Commissioning a UI probably saved me about 40-50 hours of time, since I didn’t even know where to begin with making it myself!)
A few people I know through the VN dev community encouraged me to go ahead and just ask around for any possible volunteers, but I’m still not sure. Maybe I’ll post on the Lemmasoft forums or mention it on itch.io.
I guess the reason I’m bringing all of this up is because it’s part of what’s going on right now with the development of the game, and as a partial explanation for why the full game won’t be coming for a QUITE a while, since I’m doing it by myself. And, I guess, in the slim chance someone reading this would be interested in volunteering? Message me if you’re interested, but it’s gonna be a commitment, and like I said, I can’t offer to pay you!
That’s going to be all for today - perhaps in the next update I’ll have more progress to Sho off (hehe 9u9) or even some collaborators to announce. I hope you’ll look forward to it, and to more art and doodles on this tumblr blog in the meantime!
PS: If you’re hungry for super-frequent little updates, you can follow me on Twitter over here!
