Gonna talk about a part of The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals that i really love

[this was brought on by me getting ready to shower and then being distracted because i put on Let It Out and Thoughts happened]

SO after the meteor hits and people are singing and dancing, Paul goes to work and asks about it. Charlotte says that her husband Sam isn’t a bad singer, but he’s always been a little flat. But this morning, he was singing in the shower and he sounded like an angel and it frightened her

So we’re told that becoming infected changes your voice. You know, you become part of the hivemind and basically an instrument for pokey’s orchestra, sounding as good as he needs you to sound. But we get no example of this.

We don’t hear any characters sing when they’re not infected (ignoring Emma in RCOC and the professor in Show Stopping Number), we have no frame of reference for voices really changing after infection.

Until Let It Out. We get the “Jekyll and Hyde” type scene from Paul.

[gonna take a long minute here to really show some appreciation for Jon’s physical and vocal acting, that man is wonderful]

Of course, we can see the difference between the paul we know, and the paul he is becoming because of infection in his body language. The dancing. Human Paul will not dance, is actively fighting against the puppet strings attached to his limbs that are getting stronger by the second, and infected!Paul is dancing happily, in a way that almost doesn’t completely fit the tone of this song.

Human Paul is terrified by what’s happening to him, his confusion and fear written on his face every time he loses control of his body and voice. Infected!Paul is revelling in human!Paul losing control, a wide smile on his face as he dances and sings.

But the vocal acting is my favourite part of Jon’s performance in this number. You can hear the difference between human and infected (and if you can’t hear it in the show, it’s much more obvious in the cast recording). Human Paul’s voice is lower, shakier, clearly showing that Paul is scared and not wanting to sing. Infected!Paul’s voice is higher, louder, more full, because he wants to sing. He’s a part of Pokey’s orchestra and it’s finally his time for a solo. Infected!Paul even takes his moments in control to say how much happier he is and how he was crazy to resist this, while human! Paul is battling for his life and saying he’d be crazy now to give in, and his final words are “I don’t like musicals!”

Jon does perfectly acting as Paul fighting against two different versions of himself and i love him. Big round of applause for Jon Matteson👏👏👏

And then of course in inevitable, any trace of human Paul is gone from his voice. He is completely, 100% infected now. Part of the hivemind. Not coming back. The happiness with which he sings and dances, all the while at some moments being hostile towards Emma as she tries to get away and he tries to infect her too. It’s finally his time to shine, he doesn’t get to sing or dance in almost the whole show, he gets one full song to show his prowess and by Pokotho, he is gonna show it !!

But no, neither of them have guns lmao

Mint and Catnip are a Glamrock pair built for teen parties! They're a little more serious than the other Glamrocks (which are mostly aimed at kids /hc) and have their own section in the Pizzaplex.

They perform shows, throw parties, and participate in photoshoots a lot like the main cast, but they don't wander around the grounds for interactions.

Mint and Catnip are allowed to roughhouse with the teens and pick them up and such since teens are sturdier than little kids, but because of that they're more prone to accidents, so kids under ten are not allowed in their section of the 'Plex.

They don't have their own games, but they do have a line of merch, mostly consisting of shirts, phone chases and keychains instead of soft plushies and toys.

Mint (who is based off of a mink) is the rowdier of the two. She likes to show off her strength and pick up as many teens as she can at once, carrying them around stage and having fun (with parent's permission of course). She's lighthearted and very chatty during business hours, but she doubles as the duo's security and can switch to a mode not unlike our beloved Eclipse when there's danger, especially when said danger is directed at the teens in her care or her partner, Catnip.

Catnip (who's model is based on a black footed cat), while not quiet, is definitely the calmer of the two. She plays several instruments but her main is an electric guitar (often decorated with stickers gifted by teens). She tends to keep to herself unless interacted with, in which case she's more than happy to chat away at whatever topic you find interesting as she's connected to the internet and can look up facts and conversational topics about your interest to keep you entertained and it tends to attract the neurodivergent queer kids (she keeps lgbtq stickers in her pockets to hand out if they want one).

Because of Fazbear's Robot Code of Conduct (RCoC) they are not allowed to cuss, but you might hear Mint throw out a word that sounds suspiciously like a swear at times. ;)

Under no circumstances are any persons allowed backstage. If customers are found violating this rule they will have their passes striped from their account and they will be removed from the premises. Clumsy: This is Not the first time I call out Sinyat for this but my boy is pretty fucking clumsy. It was mostly plot convenience at first but now that he's grown on me I think he is just impulsive and doesn't have the fastest reflexes but still tries to pull bold moves, even if he fails. The first narrator can be clumsy too but certainly not as much as this kid.

Soft: Laucu is the one that has the softest way to approach people in general. She is super kind and he will be the one to be more understanding of others. Also Mosskin are so soft auaauauau. Dearest is also up there but again, this is because that character fills the role of a lover, so of course they will be remembered fondly.

Anxious - Already answered. Kennedy is more anxiety than bug. But I guess Lufe also deserves to be called out here LOL. Her mind races because she tends to overthink and has a few pretty big fears. She is also a little afraid to voice her opinions and honestly, the fact that she has done it in writing already is kinda impressive.

Fair: I think I called Harsata fair once, and that fits. She pretty much chose her lifestyle to be able to make her own choices more freely, because she is pretty strong on the mindset of understanding others before judging them. Granted she absolutely has her biases but she can mediate.

Pessimistic: You know I'm thinking about Kennedy a lot with this ask game and he deserves it because out of everyone I've kind of neglected him lol. So I guess... he is pessimistic in the sense that he feels a bit hopeless, and it is related to the responsibilities he has. Shit won't get solved unless he and the others in charge who are left do something but the whole scenario is looking grim for a while.

The other fair character could be [Redacted City OC], and it's because they're driven by the need to get justice for them and many others. I believe they're fair in the sense that they put the wellbeing of groups over individuals.

EDIT: Oh it was n1 actually! and Yeah that makes more sense lol. They're usually the most level-headed and more sincere when it comes to being fair, which is likely why I tend to put them above Harsata lol

Bold: This one goes definitely to [RCOC] because they're definitely not one to back away from their goals, they speak their mind out loud and they willtake risks if it seems worth it, or they will make it worth it.

Spontaneous: Laucu, mostly because she's very creative! He will get innovative ideas and that always served her well. Dearest is also a candidate, they knew how to spice things up and make the best out of situations. Again, they're more of a concept right now but they were what make things bearable for [spoiler]
