you do not know the sheer giddy delight i have experienced finally watching Alice Through the Looking Glass (2016), emerging with one whole new blorbo and getting to see one of my oldest have such a glow-up!!!! oh my god!!! i love it!!!! 🙈💖

#gael garcía bernal#desierto#ggb filmography gifs#desierto 2015#gael garcia bernal#this is ultimately a pretty standard thriller of the being-chased-by-an-inexorable-killer type#where the cast is picked off one by one until only the most conventionally physically attractive remain#this is good news for gael's character#on account of being played by gael#i think this one is elevated by the setting both in terms of beauty (it is stunning) and by making effective plot use of it#that apparently meant they were shooting two hours' drive away from the nearest towns with no cellphone reception etc.#which may be why we don't see more films set here#also elevated by the performances which are uniformly good#also elevated by the themes (jeffrey dean morgan's antagonist is targeting migrants crossing the border)#so we're back in the territory explored in documentaries like who is dayani cristal but this time as fictional thriller#this film came out as the trump wall discourse was hotting up and that was naturally something that got talked about in interviews#clever inclusion of antagonist's dog which effectively constrains what the characters could do to get out of the situation#so unlike in many films of this type there isn't a screamingly obvious course of action that they should have taken but unaccountably don't#still it remains a genre film sticking broadly to the conventions of that genre so the plot isn't going to astonish you#i've still avoided giffing the most spoilery moments though#tbh i suspect gael's character is still screwed at the end but then i think that's also the point (see: themes)

there's a lot of talk about what's canon and what can be discredited on pitttwt coming from people who have convinced themselves that l*ngdon is thee main character and interpret scenes where he would rather talk to his arch nemesis over having to listen to mel talk about her sister as him being "head over heels for her"
#i agree that actor input isn't necessarily canon but my thing is you have to apply this line consistently#even to interpretations that you agree with#if it's not on the screen then it's not canon#at the same time i think the pitt kind of deviates from this because we know the actors have gotten a whole run down on their characters#and they know things that didn't and maybe won't ever come up in the show but still informs their performance#like is santos canonically a lesbian because isa said so? i agree with the lesbian reading of her but how's this different#from taylor hcing mel as asexual?#we know the writers are also v receptive so chances are this is what isa has discussed with them. or they have told her santos is a lesbian#so perhaps taylor has learned this from the writers as well (or suggested it)#it bothers me how hostile people are to mel being ace. i like her as ace and i also like her as allo. imo she doesn't like men either way#and accusing taylor of being ableist for thinking of mel as ace when she has put so much of herself into mel is a bit funny!#she's the reason mel is so autistic coded! she made the character you all love so much#you can disagree with the take and write smut fics about her i don't care. even if she's canonically ace bc it's fiction#people are just mad she's not fucking with the vision of their ship#there's also not a crazy abundance of characters like mel or asexual characters soooooo. just very weird behavior altogether#the greatest injustice that can be done to a female character is her not fucking a man i guess#also don't get me started on people implying mel is ugly and it'd be a win for her to get the hot guy. lol. lmfao

Have you ever met a celebrity? yes! mostly just british celebrities but thats just a hazard of living where i live 😭 i met yves from loona at her concert most recently!! i also met samantha beart (karlachs actor from bg3) and theo solomon (wylls actor from bg3) in 2023! aside from that i met dom from dick and dom (😭) at my grandmas club place thing and if u search far enough back on some british tabloid website ull be able to find a pic of baby me and amanda holden at the stage doors of shrek the musical bc my theatre group thing principle is friends with her and said 'Robin U Gotta Meet Her'. almost met tom holland at the shopping center but we kept our distance because we didnt wanna bother him 😭 yves pola under cut :D

when i say i need eddie to be real i mean it in such a serious way... there are many avenues i could go through and there will likely be many iterations of each of my characters as i continuously improve them.
like being able to say i am sitting next to wallace right now is such a special thing.
and now i am making gnap real too as a wearable costume. puppets and costumes are sooo special, in video and photo but especially in live performance.
i like the idea of making other puppets too in a more muppet-y style. like maybe i can't have my dolly suit the way id really want it but a dolly puppet would be so special to have. i can also imagine a varanus puppet very easily. i also want a "default" dog-lady puppet, i can imagine that too. and of course if i could have a smeagol puppet my life would be complete.
i love the idea of being able to walk around as a character, or to animate a character in real-time to interact with people using body movements. i guess it feels difficult to relate to people sometimes and talking through a costume or puppet makes it so much easier.

so far i am pleasantly surprised by the silent hill 2 remake and how well it adheres to the original while adding a few extra puzzles and filling out the interiors of the storefronts, though somehow the enemies are LESS scary-looking to me than the originals…… anyway, that acclaim is coming from me, a big fan of the series — a fan of the first four, at least — who usually totally hates bloober team games
keeping my fingers crossed that they’ve done maria justice because i already know i don’t like her new outfit
as i’ve heard it put, konami must’ve had them on a short leash to avoid cliche or polarizing changes, and that’s actually the best choice they’ve made with the series in close to two entire decades
#angela definitely looks closer to her age and has a grounded performance so maybe she’ll get a warmer reception from players this time#not sure about the combat but it’s not as bad as it seems like it would be#james’ hair is weirdly shiny though like somebody’s constantly shining a light at the back of his head#also a lot of the scattered notes are very bloober [derogatory] in that they’re like ‘bad things happened’ and ‘bad things will happen’#those are superfluous though

The reception brought together heads of state, leaders of Hajj missions, senior Islamic scholars, and distinguished guests from across the Muslim world. This year’s reception also included representatives of official government Hajj delegations and other prominent figures invited by the Saudi government to witness the annual pilgrimage. President Dr. Muizzu was notably seated beside the Crown Prince during the gathering, a gesture reflecting the warmth and close diplomatic ties between Saudi Arabia and the Maldives. The President, joined by First Lady Madam Sajidha Mohamed and a high-level delegation, was in Saudi Arabia at the special invitation of the Saudi government to perform Hajj. The delegation included senior cabinet ministers and advisors, and their participation underscored the Maldives’ deep-rooted religious and diplomatic engagement with the Kingdom. During the event, President Dr. Muizzu extended his heartfelt appreciation to King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for the exceptional hospitality, generous care, and world-class facilities provided to pilgrims from around the world, including Maldivians. One of the highlights of this year’s pilgrimage season for Maldivians was the successful implementation of the Makkah Route Initiative, which enabled pilgrims to complete immigration, customs, and health formalities in Malé before departing for Saudi Arabia. President Dr. Muizzu commended this initiative as a major logistical improvement that allowed pilgrims to avoid long queues upon arrival and proceed directly to their accommodations in Makkah. He also praised the enhancements made at the holy sites, particularly in Mina and Arafat, where a wide range of services, including medical care, sanitation, and crowd management, were effectively coordinated by Saudi authorities. The overall improvements contributed to a spiritually fulfilling and physically safe experience for over 1,000 Maldivian pilgrims who participated this year. The reception hosted by the Crown Prince served not only as a platform to honour the unity of the Muslim Ummah but also as an occasion to reinforce Saudi Arabia’s global leadership in facilitating the Hajj pilgrimage.
