heyyyy doctor who gang, specifically my classic who fans, would y'all be interested in hearing abt my s8 au called Renascence? I won't give too much away, but it's about jo grant slowly getting so fed up with being put down and mistreated by the doctor and UNIT that she starts working with the master 💜 and she and the master have a father-daughter dynamic in it 💜

things you can expect in renascence:

-the third doctor being a bit of a bitch. his actions in this au are based more on his first interactions with jo in terror of the autons, when he didn't want anything to do with her because he felt she was "unqualified". (though he still does care for her very much)

-jo being bold, albeit mostly in secret, and trying to figure herself out. (this also includes eventual regular visits to the master!)

-original characters of mine, including original alien species!

-the master being a hesitant but eventually quite good mentor, and teaching jo about time and space

-jo and yates being good friends

-bell keeping jo's secret, at first under threat, and then out of a sort of care for jo to feel better and not feel so put down at times

-mentions/hints of thoschei/threegado bc what sort of person would I be if I didn't

-jo being emotional in all kinds of ways (sorry girl I love you)

um pouco sobre os últimos dias por aqui ✨

tiveram vários livros novos de natal, comecei o ano com uma nova tbr. espero que esse ano seja melhor nas leituras do que ano passado.

fiz novas tatuagens e uma cobertura. fadinhas, um pássaro com a letra de blackbird dos beatles, cobertura de uma caveira antiga, adicionando a frase “memento mori”. o estúdio de tatuagem é a coisa mais linda.

tentei me aventurar por um novo hobby, só pra eu riscar o “pintar um quadro” da minha lista de coisas pra fazer antes de morrer.

viajei para pirenópolis, cidade histórica no interior do goiás. foram dias de descanso merecidos, e ainda encontrei um sebinho lindo e trouxe um livro de recordação.

de volta para a rotina, colocando alguns filmes da lista em dia, voltando a jogar meus joguinhos e comecei uma nova (porém velha) série para acompanhar a noite.

It is with sadness that I must decide to put my rofan project to a halt.

—at least for the Camp Nanowrimo thing. I'll still continue writing it every now and then. But I made the decision because I want to prioritize my lifelong baby project called Renascence.

It's originally supposed to be in manga format, but with my carpal tunnel syndrome and lack of extra time, it will be impossible 😞 So I'm planning to make it somewhat hybrid in form: light novel with illustrations and manga panels. I've wanted to create this story since I was in high school, and it has gone through different iterations, but I want to make it final this year. I'm going to use Nanowrimo to force myself to write a draft of it, because at the very least I want to see a concrete, substantial version of my baby.

I'm not happy that it's not going to be completely in the form it's designed to be (i.e., comics) but as long as I make it, it's enough. I'm not getting any younger, after all.

I'll post some character sketches and worldbuilding ideas every now and then, and once I've written it, I'll post the story on a separate sideblog. For now any post about Renascence is henceforth tagged as 'team vardis'.
