nothing has hammered home that teaching is a skill (often deliberately cultivated, non-intuitive, something you have to exercise like a muscle) quite like my father trying to educate his children about investing. He knows so much about the stock market, can analyze an ETF or mutual fund at a glance, has a suggested portfolio breakdown etched on his bones........yet bristles any time we ask him for more guidance than "broad commentary regurgitating general principles." It's unfortunate.
#my sister and I try so fucking hard.#during our monthly investing call I suggested that he treat us like a board of directors.#we make high-level suggestions but he should take those suggestions and explain how they will function in the market#provide his alternatives and other suggestions during our next call; mitigate the risks#he shot that down.#so my sister suggested that he follow the I Do/We Do/You Do model she knows from teaching.#because if he showed us an example of how this should work it would be so useful! he could say ''this is what I recommend''#and then we could push back or disagree; suggest there should be less of x or y etc.#but he rejected that too.#instead he wants us to be warren buffet from first principles and honestly. that's not going to happen.#celestial emporium of benevolent knowledge

maybe im drunk and maybe i detransitioned for a lot of factors (most of which are just fear-based over unknowable things) but god damn if i wouldn't have been the hottest twink in the county if i'd done it . i could get away with killing god its such a tragedy
