natsuki thinks of sakura like an older brother who protected her and really made her think that she was welcomed at makochi, and now if she ever gets ganged up or bullied or some weird stuff shes gonna be like: "my big bros a super good fighter and hes gonna come here and whack all your asses"

and then sakura conveniently does show up at the right moment to beat em up LMAO and one of the half unconscious guys are likr "theyre related????"

we don't necessarily see him eating in this chapter (unless i skipped something 😔😔) and i feel like from his response, we can kinda assume he doesn't eat the mysterious stew. but!

MAYBE. maybe suo did eat that mysterious stew---just off panel? or he ate a little bit. i honestly dunno 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

skip part bc this is js a lame intro and my thoughts ... soo i watched wind breaker (anime/manga) seasons 1 and 2 and pretty much most of the chapters now. scrolled through a lot of suo theories bc lowk bored, and then decided to do some research on my own... obv suo wears an eyepatch, but for what reason we don't know yet. most likely after the endo/takiishi arc, after kiryu's backstory, and some more episodes/chapters, we'll get to suo's backstory (unless we're going to meet some more characters, like yk, ume's savior protector guy from a long time ago who was also protected by the orphanage man who drinks beer all day, or suo's instructor/brothers)

three corpses taoist belief?

names of sanshi, or the three corpses, are the joshi, chushi, and geshi. they each occupy a certain part of your body, like how the joshi (upper worm) resides in the head

the sanshi invite illnesses to your body, weakening you. they also report wrongdoings/sins to the gods on a certain day---but if you manage to stay awake the whole day on a day known as gengshen day, your sins cannot be reported to the gods.

the joshi lives in the head, so it is pretty much responsible for weakening eyes--- creating deafness (i guess following this belief, yall can blane one of the corpses---the joshi---for suo being blind)

most likely some event happened to suo before that resulted in him being blind (could be physical, actually most likely it being a physical attack that led him to have eyesight worsening, and his eyesight worsens >> becomes blind bc the joshi tryna make suo miserable and own up to his own sins/wrongdoings). i say physical attack bc (i forgot where, pls remind me?) but nire did ask suo or hinted that smth happened to suo before, hence why he has the eyepatch

but essentially there are a few ways as to---not quite defeating or eliminating the three corpses, but weakening them---by doing smth called 辟谷 (bigu) which is fasting and 内胆 (neidan) which is meditating

suo pretty much fasts in every part where furin class eats, or he js drinks tea. and he also meditates everyday in the morning too---

i guess this taoist/daoist belief could probably explain-ish why suo does what he does in daily life

or i js typed all this and it doesnt mean anything. ehm yk :) my brain kinda dying on me so lmk if i dont make sense but yk, extra 💯 invested in suo's backstory

Omg your suo theory makes so much sense!! Him fasting as punishment definitely fits! A similar related theory I had this feeling him not eating could be because of his religion/ influence from his master's practices, like maybe he lives in a big shrine/ temple and he eats simple vegetarian meals at home with the monks/ his martial art brothers/ whoever takes care of the place (i rmb watching some temple stays and the meals are very simple but full of nutrients and we know suo is overall in top shape).

when i was doing "research" >> i was also thinking it was possible his master was the one who influenced/shaped suo's life by bringing in religion---because this could also be a really good possibility of why he does the things he does, and why he thinks the things he does (he's super emotionally intelligent... yk)

also that influence from his masters and brothers might also be why he's super into chinese religion---wearing the traditional clothing and drinking tea all day everday?? (also i have seen other theories about how suo might be from a chinese descent and yada yada yada---my brain kinda fried after reading the theories but check em out if ya all wanna read some more potential suo backstory/arc thinking)

early onto the anime/manga, umemiya tells sakura that eating food = bonding with ppl

soooo this lil guy named suo fasts and doesn't really eat food---so does he not really bond with ppl/create connections??

but then the thing is, he does show emotion when his friends are hurt (nirei at the KEEL fight ykyk)---so it's not that he doesn't create connections/make friends with other furin boys rightttt?? unless everything was just a facade and...

AND UNLESS... he only acted so strongly like that bc he either

(1) saw nirei as himself and was like oh shiii i've been in a similar situation before and i couldn't do anything but i was protected by my master/brothers while i was down

or (2) similar situation where he created connection with someone, that someone was knocked out in a fight, suo couldn't save them in time/saved them but they were severely injured... so maybe that's why he reacted so strongly??

I think when suo says he's no match for sakura he means emotionally/ mentally? Sakura wears his heart on his sleeve and he's shown to be able to overcome challenges (mental, emotional, physical) at very very high speeds. Maybe that's what suo means because suo still has stuff holding him back.

I always thought maybe suo used to be a very offensive fighter and then after his eye accident he changed his style to be defensive. The style representing his deflective personality aside, maybe it's just easier to be a defensive fighter when you only have one eye? Let them get close to where you can see/ sense them, and then push them away. Perhaps it also shows how suo deflects qns and his attitude is because he's trying to ignore his trauma despite it clearly holding him back.

BUT YES PLEASE I NEED MORE SUO NIREI TRAINING SCENES. I feel like that will give us more clues about suo's past.

Ykw i thought, i also have this silly little headcanon that the reason suo wears turtle necks/ clothes with high collars is because of that one quote "the sl*ttiest thing a man can do is wear a turtle neck". And i keep laughing at the thought because what if he's really just being a little menace and it's purely aesthetic (highly unlikely but it's funny to think about that)

ohhhhh WAIT that makes a lot more sense now that its starting to come together. comparing suo and sakura---we can see how much sakura has grown from the start to now. from starting to trust the bofurin kiddos and relying on them more, sakura starts to open up to them all.

but we still see suo holding back from "committing more sins," kind of repressing his emotions and putting on a certain act for his behavior---we know when he goes crazy-free in fighting, he can get super angry.

now on the topic of repression (and psychology), repressing one's emotions means shoving it down into the abyss. you don't want to talk about it, acknowledge it---and when it starts to overload, you will snap. it's like a volcano, and you will start to feel enraged (in suo's case, probably?). and this very event may happen to suo, an event even bigger than the other two times he snapped. (which would most likely cause frenzy within furin)

but this very event may also be why he decided to go to defensive mode. this event caused his emotions to take over him, making him do something he regrets, and possible resulting in an eye injury. repression of emotions is a defense mechanism... with unpredictable consequences. and he doesn't want to make the same mistake again, hence putting his guard up and being more emotionally intelligent. being more defensive than offensive.

after all, we know that suo is an excellent fighter. you do bring up a good point, that suo may have been an offensive fighter. (offensive fighting equals? letting his emotions free and truly being himself) (maybe)

(also on the note of eyepatch: this eyepatch can also serve as an item that represses the memories that came with having an eye injury.)

but i feel like so much about suo---his behavior, how he fights, the eyepatch and the mysterious eye---really shows how he doesn't want to dig up the past. as you mentioned, he does deflect questions (tsugeura's aesthetic questions)... but sooner or later, he'll be trapped.

he can't just keep running forever. there's goingg to be a turning point, an event so big that would probably bring the wild suo out. (this sounds like pokemon all of a sudden AHAHHAHAHA)

also, suo's eye---do you think it's bc of an eye injury (and all that idea up there) leading him to wear an eyepatch, or does he have heterochromia?

bc if he does have heterochromia, and he has an eyepatch hiding one of his eyes, the eyepatch could also be a symbol for hiding his identity... maybe people thought suo was also a freak , and then he blew up and punched someone and did something super horrible, and then he wanetd to repress that angered + wild side of him by hiding that eye that ppl said it made him seem like a monster?

i was trying to find a panel of suo commenting on sakura's eyes (i also checked out the first there episodes again to see if suo said anything about sakura's heterochormia) but i don't think he ever mentioned it. i js saw in the second episode, suo turned around and looked surprised? not sure what he was surprised about, but he seemed interested? (interested in sakura's heterochromia eyes? or look, bc of sakura's hair?)

most ppl talk about sakura's eyes or hair right away---kotoha asks whether he wears contacts... so hmm... something else to think about.

I have had so much hopes for kiryu arc since nii sensei has talked about his sister in the fan interview but well .. his arc was rushed and kinda boring. Why do most of the characters arcs resolve quickly by their backstories?....no stakes or building up for their development beyond the backstories

okay bruh i legit typed out wverything and then it went to waste WTF but anyway this has been sitting in ny inbox for a little way too long bc i didnt know jow to answer it 👊

i actually did not know the first part about the fan interview 😭

but back to kiryu. i do think his arc is a bit rushed (um i js wanted some more kiryu screen time ykyk 😭) BUT i did not at all think it was boring

we really got to see kiryu fights for those he cares about. not only his friends, but his sister. we can see that he's the type to not stay silent about things, and his way of going against his father is very loud. comparing to his sister's way, she rebels by taking on a job while juggling school and getting back home on time without raising her father's suspicion.

and i certainly dont think thst the characters arc ends when the backstory is revealed. take umemiya as an example. (actually not the best example bc ume is a part of a LOT of things. hes like thw catalyst to changing the town for the better, changing furin for the better, stepping up as a leader, helping others, etc.) but his backstory isnt js about "oh his parents died saving their child and ume has major trama!!!" it was abt healing, and after healing and growing, ume influences the others (like hiragi.) and it's like a chainof influence: hiragi influences sako and kaji, kaji influences sakura, and sakura influences natsuki. etc.

their development is most definitely not js limited to their backstory.

also before my og draft got deleted i also typed smth abt tsubaki and how he accepted himself, and he also influences those around him. i kinda forgot qhat i wrote so ill js leave it here for now 😭

I think i saw that theory about suo's eye being white!! It had something to do with the colour wheel or the possibility of suo being blind and him having a milky white iris?

About the slave thing, idk why but one of my initial theories was that suo was part of an illegal fighting ring and his master took him under his wing. His master being self taught could be him picking up fighting styles from being forced to fight other people. But then again suo seems to have a good foundation of martial arts and i think his fighting style would be more like the rest of furin's street brawl style if that were the case...

back to the hotpot abomination, suo says something along the lines of "i brought chinese cabbage because that goes in hotpot right?" Now idk if it's the translation but the "right?" at the end makes it sound like he's never had hotpot before (PLEASE LET THE BOY EAT HOTPOT IT'S THE BEST THING EVER)

Now you mention heterochromia, if that was the case maybe suo's eye is redish/ he has some permanent injury that causes his eye to be red. Dragons in chinese culture are often portrayed as red if i'm not wrong? Hence the dragon spirit residing in his eye.

Yea i wonder why suo looked surprised when he saw sakura. It could def be about sakura's looks but he tells the rest of the class it was sakura who jumped into the fight the previous day. Which means he already knew who sakura was. Suo you mystery, we'll never know will we?

i think for dragons in chinese culture are usually red for like a lot of festive occasions/traditions, like with the dragon dances---though they could also be other colors, so let's take a look of the meaning of the different colored-dragons hmm...

(dragons COULD also be "the spirit residing in his eye," instead of the three corpses because that one is in his head, rather than his eye---now that i think about it)

the ones in brackets---not quite sure? from what i've learned + researched, it's mainly the ones not in the brackets but yk idk 😭😭

red: lucky, good fortune

black: evil, revenge, death [power?, honor?]

white: mourning (in chinese culture, they typically wear white for funerals), [cycle of life?---it makes sense, purity?, virtue?]

blue: harmony, peace, healing, rest, prosperity [i'm not sure about any of this? i was just google searching this one]

green: approaching of spring, new life, plant growth [was fact-checking with my mom and she said that green is usually related to spring]

yellow/golden: wisdom, good fortune, power, wealth, social standing as emperors were "descendants of dragons"

so... how do we narrow the possible eye-colors behind suo's eye patch? (his behavior and based on the potential backstory)

starting with red: (yes i did say what i said above BUT) red is the closest color we have with brown? and also red is usually related to dragons and all that stuff... i'd say suo with red eye is like a 12% chance---js a lil iffy on the lucky and good fortune part.

black: pretty possible? similar to sakura i guess. but then the thing is, i feel like animes usually depict people with heterochromia = really unique = the eye colors of each eye is super different. might be wrong on this one but hmm... 15% chance (im legit js dropping random numbers). but he could be hiding his eye that is black... like he's trying to shove the evil away... not give into revenge... HMM..

white: im pretty sure i saw a theory about this on suo! saying how his other eye would be white, contrasting sakura's black-colored eye. i'll try to find this and link it here but in the meantime... 45% chance. also white = morality/virtue... and it kinda matches up with suo's personality. (empath) (thinking of master highly) (+ other stuff)

blue: idk if anything about blue matches suo's personality besides peace (since he's the peace maker/mediator between a lot of stuff---sakura and sugishita, having them make up after their lil first day battle...) 3%?

green: emancipation of slaves... new life... yeah i still wonder why he says emancipation of slaves as his dream! something worth visiting later on... but the approaching of spring was the part that made me pause a little. from what i quickly searched up (correct me if i'm wrong), but japan starts school in april. april is in spring. that's when a lot of flowers blossom (sakura)---actually idk what i'm saying anymore but 10%. my brain is fried and idk how im linking whatever i js said to how it could possibly be suo's hidden eye color

yellow/golden: social standing! his currently defensive fighting style, and his use of palms rather than punches (um actually he did punch a guy with his knuckles but MAINLY PALMS). how he dresses. how he acts. he acts in a super... royal/noble type way? 15%, kinda understandable... actually idk what im talking abt now

⚠ mentions of blue lock spoilers in manga!!

i really realize how sae and aiku are alike: both dreams of becoming the best striker broken. sae, during the years of spain, likely realizing his ability as a striker isn't on par witht the other world-class strikers. and aiku, realizing how they were being molded as the same way to become a striker with similar playstyles with no where for HIM to shine.

except sae becomes a midfielder, then wanting his brother to become the best striker (maybe) and aiku becomes a defender, waiting for the perfect moment to help THE striker shine.

i actually forgot which chapter this was from because of my fish-sized brain, but it did seem like nagi wanted his parents to actually be more doting?? like the relationship of reo's parents <--> reo, while reo wanted a more hands-off approach from his parents because he seems suffocated in his family environment.

anyway: nagi seishiro's one of the iconic lines would be: "what a hassle" or something along the lines, yeah?

if nagi always says something's a hassle, he either always thinks that or has always heard of that from someone else. right? kinda sounds far-fetched but:

what if nagi overthinks that his parents think their child (nagi) is a hassle and therefore uses a more hands-off approach to raise nagi? although nagi's parents' relation with nagi isn't bitter and seems pretty chill, maybe nagi (to some extent) thinks that he's a hassle to his parents, and therefore them having to use a hands-off approach to raise nagi.

mainly because the parents travel a lot for work. if they did bring nagi with them all around the world, it may seem like a hassle to bring a child everywhere just for the parents to work/travel.

OR: i'm js overthinking stuff and nagi just likes saying everything's a hassle. we'll never know :D
