I got heavily inspired by my dude @madmythologist by a really simple thing he showed me and I wrote this in basically one day to get it while I had the muse. I dont write a lot so I'm posting it now before I become overly aware and shameful. ANYWHO! I hope you enjoy this little thing starring my borrower Casey!

A cool summer night blanketed the forest. It was a night of calm and quiet, the locals left to sing their songs far off among the thistles and leaves in the dim moonlight. It was a rare peace in the wild, an easy only to be eased into by a long day of work.

Casey sat along the smallest fire she could muster, providing a little extra light and warmth for the just as tiny of a creature. Normally she'd be high above in the trees at this hour with her sister, but she had gotten lost in her craft. Her sickle older than a few seasons has finally grown too dull and too weak for harvesting and even climbing. So with small stones she has chipped and broke off shards, ever so as, gracefully shaping piy a replacement. A rythmatic pattern of clicks and clashes pricked few ears, the borrower making slow and ready progress. 

It was hard work. Her arms and hands were sore from the hammering repeatedly for more that half a day and into the twilight. But she didn't complain a bit. She was just happy for the alone time, happy to get a moment to breathe and think about..... about.....

She paused her crude crafting and looked upwards in the little clearing she sat on the edge of.

Well it wasnt a true clearing, just a space between three trees at the base of their home. There was nothing else around other than grass and an odd fungus....  or more accurately no one. _He_ flicked back into her mind among the sleepless hours.

A giant of a creature...  No, not a creature but a person. And a very strange one to put it as lightly as possible. Skin ashen grey, hands black with vine like things etched along his arms. Hair white as those fanged teeth that still sent a chil up her arms the more she visualized them. And those eyes, the eyes that she couldn't unsee even if she wanted to. They has followed into her dreams, for better or for worse. Everything about him was so bizarre, as mesmerizing as he was imposing.

They had been meeting in the nearest actual clearing, the man always appearing at the moon's brightest for some ritual. Casey's eyes drifted up towards the sky above to search the stars and settle on a crescent shaped moon. Not yet, not for a few more cycles. She could still see his shadow moving in her mind. That call that first lifted her back towards him all those nights ago. That hauntingly captivating sound. He confused her, scared her, fascinated her in countless ways. Quietly, she looked forward to hearing that call to her again. She could have sworn she could see that toothy smile of his high above.

A crackle from the fire disrupted her reminiscing, Casey blinking and rubbing the stars out of her eyes. How long has she been distracted? The borrower looked down at the sickle in her hands, a smooth part cleaved off reflected the a mix of fire embers over the shapely moon. A sigh escaped her lips, flicking between the shapes above and at her feet. Right, back to it. The litlenone shifted more to readjust, returning her focus to her craftmanship of her shining sickle. The beat of stone against stone resumed itself, but follow by a soft hum escaped Casey's closed lips. A haunting, yet captivating song she learned from a friend.
