"the project is dead in the water, waste of fucking time to come out here and try to save it." vince muttered into the phone, ignoring the displeased looks of the other patrons at his hotel's bar. his wife tried in vain to offer assurances and reminders of other, more promising projects, that he had to look forward to but he curtly cut her off. "-they're gonna sell the rights to netflix and wash their hands of it." netflix. what a fucking joke. vince wrestled with his collar and managed to loosen the tie around his neck with just one hand. "between streaming and metoo it's a wonder movies actually get made anymore." good movies, movies that actually had some fucking artistry to them. citizen kane or apocalypse now, taxi driver, psycho, god damn he'd even settle for blue velvet.

talia started speaking again and vince motioned to the bartender for another jack and coke before noticing the redhead several stools away putting drinks back like her life depended on it. vince wasn't sure if it was trashy or hot. maybe somewhere between. he gave several noncommittal "yeah" and "mm"s into the phone's receiver but had all but checked out of the conversation in lieu of watching the stranger nearly slump out of her chair. christ, what a mess. he turned away and grabbed at the fresh drink that had been sat before him. "i don't know when i'll be home. i'll have to check the flights." he barked with annoyance.

the conversation carried on uneventfully for another five minutes before vince told his wife goodbye and he loved her and maybe they should go out for dinner when he got back home--that little indian place she liked despite it giving her gas strong enough to kill a horse. that seemed to make up for the piss poor mood he'd been in when the call began. he could always get her to forgive him. it didn't take much.

he left the bar to take a leak, standing unzipped at the urinal when the redhead walked in. did she fucking follow him? vince shook his dick and quickly put it away, shooting a look at her over his shoulder as he did so. "jesus christ.." he coughed and covered his face with an arm as a sudden wave of nausea inducing rot hit him. "what the fuck are you on?" because it was obvious from the glazed look in her eyes and drool pooling from her mouth that she had to be on something. he figured she was trying to make some cash. followed him in here for a blowjob or handy in hopes of getting a twenty to secure her next hit. she'd certainly looked like she was jonsing while sitting at the bar.

getting the feeling that she wasn't going to turn around and leave, vince decided to walk past her and leave it as someone else's problem. as he got close and the smell intensified she seemed to suddenly come out of her daze and lash out at him. vince spun quickly and just barely made it past as she fell on the spot he'd previously been standing. her hand pulled the sleeve of his dress pants and he turned to look down at her with bewilderment and disgust. he watched as she pulled his leg closer to her mouth, biting down with inhuman strength causing him to holler in pain. "fffuck!" he did the only thing that made sense---brought his free foot down on her head and stomped repeatedly, mush flying through the air and decorating the men's bathroom in reds and brows and pinks. despite pieces of her brain now being stuck to vince's face, he had to pry her grip off finger by finger and then use both hands to slide his calf out of her jaw. he fell to the floor, breathing heavy, watching the blood pool under his torn pants.
