Rewatching 99 Problems

Welcome to “Abomination Boys are Hot: A Supernatural Rewatch Blog” with Lor and Mace!

Up today, s5e17: 99 Problems.

Sam and Dean get help fending off some demons chasing them in the form of an anti-demon roadblock and some locals who seems to know Enochian. Turns out an entire small town has turned into demon hunters, led by a pastor and his daughter, who appears to be a prophet. But things start looking hinky pretty quick, and when Cas shows up, he’s got the skinny on the preacher’s daughter: she’s the Whore of Babylon and she’s turned the town into a cult. She can only be killed with a special stake wielded by a servant of heaven, which Cas says rules both boys right out (Dean because he’s stubborn and Sam because he’s an abomination). But in the end, Dean is able to gank her, then he takes to the road in a snit to see Lisa and, essentially, tell her goodbye, I guess? Oh, and Cas found a liquor store and drank it because he’s bummed about God turning out to be a deadbeat dad.

I saw someone point out that Geordi and Data both have the same geometric shape agate pattern art hanging in their respective quarters once, and I can't stop thinking about them getting together for space christmas after an away mission where they both remarked admiring how the swirling patterns of the rock layers complimented the angular geology on the planet (obviously this location would be filmed at Vasquez Rocks) and breaking down into affectionate laughter as they opened their presents to find they both got each other the same piece of artwork as a present.

Empahisized even more by the Christmas decorations in so many homes! It's so neat to see the home made and vintage ones compared to the full modern lights setup in others! I believe that Marta Barna is the art department head who deserves most of the credit.

I really love how warm, worn and real the houses look in true detective s4.

It both adds depth of characterisation and beautifully contrasts the darkness and coldness of the ice that’s waiting just outside.

Also I’m really really envious of rose aguineau’s home.
