On the 10 Commandments:
——-
The Fourth Commandment Explained
———————
People often still debate the meaning of what God’s Commandments are after the numerous translations. The Orthodox Jewish Bible actually contains the transcript of that speech I gave that day in Shemot 20.
And in my own words: If you do not hold anything else, hold & speak my commandments. Let us review the originals as they were intended- the speech with the teaching summary. Any & all attempts to do harm and/or cause suffering by bypassing the Commandments with “loopholes” will be considered with harsh penalty.
“Remember Yom HaShabbos, to keep it kodesh. Sheshet yamim shalt thou labor, and do all thy work: But the Yom HaShevi’i is the Shabbos of Hashem Eloheicha; in it thou shalt not do any melachah, thou, nor thy ben, nor thy bat, thy eved, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy ger that is within thy gates; For in sheshet yamim Hashem made Shomayim and Ha’Aretz, the yam, and all that in them is, and rested Yom HaShevi’i; for this reason Hashem blessed Yom HaShabbos, and set it apart as kodesh.”
Shemot 20:8-11 TOJB2011
https://bible.com/bible/130/exo.20.8-11.TOJB2011
Keep at least one good day or Sabbath “set aside” or spiritually different than your other days of the week. Spirituality can mean many things, but ultimately there is an underlying belief that “lifting the soul” or caring for that intangible part of yourself is essential. The intangible is often our intuitions, our feelings, our connectedness to ourselves & the universe & just like how we see that expressed in so many different way across a variety of cultures, Christianity as a practice can also be expressed that way.
You must dedicate at a minimum 1 day out of 7 to rest & having a focus on practices to lift the soul. Your community, anyone that even steps foot near your land as a guest, & those that work with and/or for you must also do the same. That can mean a lot of different practices & not always necessarily the practice of going to church, but ultimately it’s a focus on practices that nourish your soul. God wants you to take care of yourself.
You can find other versions/passages talk about punishment for not holding Sabbath in reverence, but that is for more specific situations. For example, If you claim yourself to be of this God, benefit, and then exploit people by making them work everyday without any rest you will be sinful in God’s eyes.
You have to remember Christianity back when it first was being introduced to people was INCREDIBLY radical in comparison to the way countries were run, the concept of kingship, & it also advocated for the abolishment of slavery.
Many commonly held interpretations of a variety of Christian practices & teachings are a result of the original documents being censored & altered by kings, empires & politics.
It originally was perceived as a disruptive force because it didn’t ask for equality, it demanded it in a tenuous time period of geopolitical instability.
Moses was known as the guy who had freed a bunch of slaves. You really think the political forces that existed during that time frame were really just going to let a “criminal” get up on a public platform & say whatever they want with the risk of him causing more slave uprisings?
Absolutely not. And it changed the world forever.

The 10 Commandments
1 And Moshe called kol Yisroel, and said unto them, Shema, Yisroel, to the chukkim and mishpatim which I speak in your ears today, that ye may learn them, and be shomer to do them.
2 Hashem Eloheinu made a Brit with us in Chorev.
3 Hashem made not this Brit with Avoteinu, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive today.
4 Hashem talked with you panim b’panim in the har out of the midst of the eish,
5 (I stood between Hashem and you at that time, to show you the Devar Hashem; for ye were afraid by reason of the eish, and went not up into the har) saying:
6 I am Hashem Eloheicha, Which brought thee out of Eretz Mitzrayim, from the bais avadim.
7 Thou shalt have no elohim acharim before Me.
8 Thou shalt not make thee any pesel, or any temunah of anything that is in Shomayim above, or that is in Ha’Aretz beneath, or that is in the mayim beneath ha’aretz;
9 Lo tishtachaveh (thou shalt not bow down thyself) unto them, nor serve them; for I Hashem Eloheicha am an El Kannah, visiting the iniquity of the avot upon the banim unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate Me,
10 And showing chesed unto thousands of them that love Me and are shomer over My mitzvot.
11 Thou shalt not take the Shem of Hashem Eloheicha in vain; for Hashem will not hold him guiltless that taketh Shmo in vain.
12 Keep shomer Shabbos to set Shabbos apart as kodesh as Hashem Eloheicha commanded thee.
13 Sheshet yamim thou shalt labor, and do all thy work:
14 But the Yom HaShevi’i is the Shabbos of Hashem Eloheicha: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy ben, nor thy bat, nor thy eved, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine donkey, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy ger that is within thy she’arim; that thy eved and thy amah may rest as well as thou.
15 And remember that thou wast an eved in Eretz Mitzrayim, and that Hashem Eloheicha brought thee out thence through a yad chazakah and by an outstretched zero’a; therefore Hashem Eloheicha commanded thee to be shomer Shabbos on Yom HaShabbat.
16 Honor thy av and thy em, as Hashem Eloheicha hath commanded thee; that thy yamim may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in ha’adamah which Hashem Eloheicha giveth thee.
17 Lo tirtzah (thou shalt not murder).
18 V’lo tinaf (neither shalt thou commit adultery).
19 V’lo tignov (neither shalt thou steal).
20 V’lo ta’aneh v’reacha ed shav (neither shalt thou bear false witness against thy neighbor).
21 V’lo tachmod (neither shalt thou covet, desiring) thy neighbor’s wife, neither shalt thou covet thy neighbor’s bais, his sadeh, or his eved, or his amah, his ox, or his donkey, or any thing that is thy neighbor’s.
22 These devarim Hashem spoke unto all your Kahal in the mountain out of the midst of the eish, of the anan, and of the thick darkness, with a kol gadol; and He added no more. And He wrote them in two luchot of even (stone), and delivered them unto me. — Deuteronomy 5:1-22 | Orthodox Jewish Bible (OJB) Orthodox Jewish Bible Copyright © 2002, 2003, 2008, 2010, 2011 by Artists for Israel International. seriously like I grew up in this religion and personally I had a great time! I love Chanukah and Purim and Pesach and Shavous and Sukkos and all the yamim tovim! I love Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur because I feel so pure when I’m done and the rest of the year, I feel like I only have as many sins as I’ve committed since last year, not a whole lifetimes worth. I love the family traditions we have for holidays. I love the ‘Mystery Macabee’ we play on chanukah. I love the sukkah decorations my little sister brings home from school. I love building the sukkah with my dad every year. I love cleaning the kitchen for Pesach to music until crazy hours of the night. I love baking cookies for yom tov. I love decorating the shul’s Aron kodesh with flowers for Shavous. I love that I have an innate sense to do good. Every single person in the Jewish community cares about each other. We have organizations to take care of disabled people and organizations to take care of poor people. We have an organization that helps people with brain injury and another that sends sick / disabled kids to camp every year and gives them experiences they would’ve never had other wise. In high school, every girl needed a ‘chessed job’ that they would do once a week. My ninth grade one was being a big sister in an organization that made an after school program for kids of divorced parents. In tenth grade I babysat and helped around the house for a busy mother. In eleventh and twelfth, I visited a lovely older woman with cerebral palsy every shabbos. I still visit her today! I love that we have tefillos for everything. We daven (pray) in the morning, afternoon, and night. We daven before bed and before we eat. We daven after the bathroom and if we see an amazing creation. We are so connected to Hashem (G-d) and we feel Him in our everyday lives. I know I can talk to Him whenever I want and ask Him for even the smallest things, like doing well on a test or not spilling a drink. I love my religion and I love that we are all a family and I truly feel as if each Jew is my brother or sister.
so why would I ever say that being Jewish is less? Why would I ever ever say that I hate Israel, the land of our people that Hashem promised to us???
You know what? I do think jewish culture is better than other cultures. Of course I do. It’s my culture. If you don’t think your husband is better than any other partner than you can’t really pretend to be happily married, you’re just stuck.
I’m tired of people pretending they need to erase their biases and say caveat after caveat about how they aren’t worthy to have a perspective or opinion. I don’t understand why everyone is lying all the time about it.
I’ve seen other cultures and I wouldn’t want to be any of them over being jewish. I don’t want other cultures eliminated or changed or controlled… but I shouldn’t have to say that. It should be a given that I can like something, personally have a preference and perspective about something, without that opinion causing harm on its face. Wait till someone calls for violence or slanders a people before you jump from “I disagree” to “this is a crime”

Today is the death day of a really great rabbi- The Piaseczno Rebbe. We hear a lot about inspirational things people say and all that is fine and dandy, but sometimes it can feel like- what have u been through that gives u the right to talk. During this war, there were lots of powerful things, but to me, hearing holocaust survivors saying "We know how hard this is. You will get through this" was the thing that keeps me going. This special rebbi was a hassidic rabbi who gave dvar torahs in the warsaw getto to ppl. They found the manuscripts of his 3rd meal speeches that they wrote down after shabbos or yom tov in buried milk jugs and put it into a really well organized book called "eish kodesh" which u can find in a mixture of hebrew and yiddish on sefaria. He is the prime rabbi of "why do bad things happen to good people" so if u need any of that, he's ur guy. Plus, he's known to address everyone as "my important students", "my dear students", "my beloved students" and any rabbi who does that automatically upgraded to favorite cuz I'm such a mush.
So last year i volunteered at a center for ppl
Theres no feeling like going to art supply store and feeling completely competent in your needs. Like, not a craft store for glue snd beeds, or crappy wood frames. We are talking in a store for ppl who know what they want, and know what can be touched and what cant. Natural hair brushes: touch it and die. Sheets of plaster for a sculpture, ok to touch. So going into a store for fabric because i need a specific thickness of silk chiffon, and they ask what i need it for fashion or art, and i say art. And i know exactly what and how much i need. I
If someone opened my phone gallery, they'd find about a thousand pictures of female ears. Not assuming the role of van gogh and looking for a replacement ear, i just am thinking about getting piercings.
Its 2 months till semester brake. Which means my phone gallery is filled with photos of various ears. Specially female ears. I'm not a mike tyson fangirl, i just celebrate finishing the semester with getting piercings with friends.
I used to have a drinking problem. I would drink almost every night. I would throw up, ive blacked out. I didnt really want to be alive in my brain and alcohol was something my friends always had. Bottles and bottles of alcohol in backpacks. Theyd pour it out for u, and noone counted, noone rationed, no one cared. I was so emotionally raw and inflamed, red faced. I just knew that the second id have a shot or two, my tougue would get fuzzy and my brain would relax, and id be less uncomfortable. I felt freer when i was drunk. I would get warm and would just drink and dance for hours. Heeling was hard. And scary. And i thought a sober life without danger was just a numb feeling.
Im not numb. I dont like certain things.
White car
White interior
Seat covers
Grownups
Make ceramic plates and mugs
Forks knives spoons
When ur thinking about what piercings you'll get with friends in two months because u started a tradition of getting piercings to celebrate finishing a semester of art school- cuz if the teachers dont love my stuff, im just gonna love and decorate myself more. So far we have
2 lobes- age 1
Septum- age 21 (but closed up)
4 more lobes- age 25 (in one day, because im a psychopath)
Navel- age 26 (kind of impulsive)
Am i excited to get back to my old people with mental health stuff cooking class? Indescribably excited.
Am i excited to go back to a country that put fries in sandwiches and i dont need to wait in lines cuz im a VIP at the shwarma joint? 1000% yes
Am i happy that this is my last year dealing with department heads who screw me every chance I get, but i let it go because I don't argue with ugly people?
Abso-frickin-lutely
Things i wish i knew when i was younger:
Never argue with ugly people, you will never win. If you can let it go, just let it go. They will always be ugly. You will always have grace.
I am confident and pretty. Thats a dangerous mix that gets me not asked out a lot. But thats the thing. I believe that when a guy sees me and says oh my gosh i want to be with her, ill know, he'll no. Right now, the guys i like dont ask me out. Its the guys i dont like.
Visit greece
Walk in the sea of stars
Visit italy
Visit korea in the spring
Safari in nambia
Halloween in usa
Summer in hawaii
Christmas in new york
Paris
Me, at midnight, cant fall asleep:
Things that will offend me to my very core
Weird things a girl like me gets incredibly offended about
Telling me that im a redhead, therefore i dont tan
Telling me im not the funniest person u know
Calling my hair straight

Bentching Shabbos Licht Saves a Family
Bentching Shabbos Licht Saves a Family
Bentching licht, kindling the Holy Lights before Shabbos, brings a healing into the world. The Holy One, blessed be He gave to our holy mothers and sisters the mitzvah of bringing the light of Shabbos into the home and community. Each week as the wicks are carefully prepared the anticipation of Shabbos kodesh (the Holy Sabbath) spreads throughout the house. Such little lights truly make a…

ISRAEL REALTIME — ✡️ SHABBAT MODE ✡️
THIS CHANNEL ON SHABBAT KODESH - life threatening alerts ONLY on the Holy Shabbat.
Shabbat Parshat Vayechi, Shabbat Hazak
Shabbat Times here -> https://www.myzmanim.com/search.aspx
Dear Readers,
This channel/community is Shomer Shabbat, your admins are strict Shabbos observers. However, IN CONSULTATION AND WITH PERMISSION OF OUR RABBI, due to war and the very serious pikuah nefesh (risk to life) - we have permission to passively monitor and send updates IF AND ONLY IF the situation is life threatening AND our message might help you take decisions for life and safety.
Because one of our admins is in California this week, without a special allowance he will be able to monitor and alert for the first 8 hours of Shabbat Israel time.
But you should NOT count on this channel as a primary source in case of a Shabbat war emergency! That’s what we send the Shabbat Alert Instructions for - you should have on a silent channel that will alert with additional instructions - we recommend Channel 14 silent stream where they come online and give details in cases such as an infiltration.
On Shabbat (each at their location) we will ONLY be sending a message IF a serious situation occurs in which you may take action. We will NOT be posting info about the hostages, politics, shipping attacks, not-immediate enemy threats, or any topic not immediately life and safety threatening. This means this week we may send important messages on Shabbat Israel time, but still will limit it to only important events - and will prefix it with either “IMPORTANT INFO - ATTACKS / ROCKETS / etc” or “EMERGENCY NOTICE”.
It is a mitzvah to take actions to save and preserve life on Shabbat, not a violation. BUT ONLY actions which do so.

Shabbos - The Eternal Bond
Shabbos – The Eternal Bond
Shabbos Kodesh is the ultimate eternal bond between Hashem and Klal Yisroel. The Chofetz Chaim was wont to say that a business closes occasionally for various reasons. As long as the sign is still up, you know the closing is temporary and the business will soon reopen. However, once the sign comes down, you know that the business is permanently closed.
Shabbos Kodesh is a yid’s equivalent to…
