Watching the 2009 Guy Ritchie Sherlock Holmes for the first time in years and holy shit, the subtext was just text in this one, wasn't it?

Like to be clear: I like the original/more normal versions of Sherlock Holmes a lot!!!

But we've seen those a thousand times! A reinterpretation and adaption of the character into a different genre is fresh and exciting to my simple little squid brain.

I'm one of approximately three people who actually liked the action film steampunk versions of Sherlock Holmes (the ones directed by Guy Ritchie)

if i remember correctly mary says a similar thing to holmes about their love for watson in the bbc adaption but i cannot for the life of me find the clip right now☹️!!

either way i adore mary, i love her so much. it's so important to me that she acknowledges their shared love, care and affection for watson. despite how distant holmes has been to her the entire movie and the one after that she knows he cares. and its important to me that she says it like she does, its not "i know you care" or "i know you care to", she says "i know you care as much as i do" GOSHHH!!!!! OHMY GOD!!! she always knew and in every adaptation she will always know and its so special to me. they love their guy!!!! their silly doctor!!!!!!

I see your "BBC Sherlock vs all other versions" and I raise you this: BBC Watson vs other versions. I shudder to even think of what would go down in that room.

I don't think that canon Watson would beat up BBC Watson. I think he'd just fix him with a withering stare, crossed arms, and hit him with a deadly delivery of "I'm not mad. Just disappointed."

Canon Watson, both Granada Watsons, Elementary Watson, Guy Ritchie Watson, and Fawx & Stallion Watson would all have tea together tho. They'd have a great time laughing about how infuriating their respective Holmeses are. The Holmses would not be invited to the tea party and they would be extremely jealous.
